That's right.
We got some, got some picks coming up later on.
Joni brackets is going to deliver a couple more winners this week.
Please stop saying that.
Oh my gosh.
It's your nickname that you gave me.
So why would I stop?
I'm showcasing no one calls you Joni brackets.
Nobody calls me Joni brackets.
Won't stop.
Can't stop.
What the hell was that?
Lorraine?
What was that?
I don't know what that was with something powering down there.
And so it sounded like there's there's nothing running.
I don't know what that was off to a great start again.
That was interesting.
Did we lose Brady?
That might have been what it was.
Yeah, Brady.
I'm still here.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Hey, listen, touching go in this place.
His voice came in like Jesus.
No, my son.
Yeah, I'm still here.
I think everybody's everybody's.
I mean, at least that's how I that's how I pitcher Jesus's voice in my hit.
You know, but anyway, go ahead.
Yeah.
So the tourney will be back later on.
I already have my pick for today.
Don't anybody spoil it.
But you know, it's going to be going to be working towards
showcasing friends of the program in my pick.
That's a little bit of a giveaway coming up later on in our three of the program.
So we got the tourney back.
I also saw this.
I don't know if you guys were aware of this, but at least we have some clarity,
some understanding of what the opening week for the national football league is looking
like. And I just think this is coincidental.
Right.
I don't think there's anything that they're not, you know, slowly trying to merge
into anything more than simply putting the season opener for the Seattle
Seahawks on Wednesday, September 9th.
Normally it's on that Thursday of opening week, but they're going to put this one on
Wednesday because they've got the Australia game with the Rams and the Niners,
the next night that'll be played in Australia.
So it'll be Friday morning slash Thursday night for us.
So this is just purely coincidental.
You know, this is not a prelude to something bigger in the NFL.
It's just a random Wednesday night game for the league.
And I think we're all in agreement on that, correct?
Just nothing, nothing more to see here, nothing, no long-term commitment to,
to other nights, other than Thursday, and this one time on a Wednesday, I would say.
Okay.
Anybody out there?
Nice.
Yeah.
Anybody got anybody got that?
All right.
Well, I mean, am I carrying the show right now?
Is that what's happening?
What do we have to chime in on this?
Okay.
So I'm, I'm trying to let me just go with this.
This is what Jones is trying to do.
We've talked about this probably since COVID that when the league started
experimenting with doing games in prime time, that this would be a step for them.
Doing a case study on whether or not they could do this.
And that's where I believe this is going.
The league will start to put games on other nights throughout the weekend
prime time.
It gives smaller markets exposure instead of being all lumped together in a
one o'clock window.
And, you know, further more than that, it gives more exposure to some of those
networks who are looking for greater prime time readings, which if you look at
linear television, right, broadcast television, ABC, Fox, CBS, NBC, all those
networks are looking at TV right now trying to find what the heck we can get
some ratings for.
We can get some advertising dollars for.
And the only thing that continues to generate ratings is live sports in
particular, the NFL, which is King.
So yes, if you're, if you're asking me about whether or not this is a,
a step in the direction of that, I think it is.
I believe that's where it's going.
I believe Roderick Adele realizes that in order to hit the $24 billion revenue
mark, like the league wants to hit in an annual revenue, they have to keep
finding ways of, you know, increasing that bottom line.
And this would be one of those ways by increasing the ratings and not having
again, segmented markets in your one o'clock, four o'clock games, where you're
dividing things up.
So this would probably be a step in that direction.
I think that the NFL is showcased that if they do it once,
chances are they're going to do it again.
And it's happened over and over the Christmas day game, which was,
hey, we'll do it this one time.
Listen, as you just this one time, there's an opportunity here.
It just happens to fall on a weekend.
Why wouldn't we, you know, put some games on Christmas and then it was one
more and then one more and now they've completely taken it over.
They looked at, you know, the extra game they added on Thursday night for
Thanksgiving.
Now that's just become a staple.
The double barrel action on Monday night football, the two games there.
It just feels like there's more and more and more.
And I think the challenge will be when it comes to rest,
when it comes to buy weeks, when it comes to the 18th game and the extra
week and all of that is how do you stagger this stuff to where you do get it
every single night of the week, which is going to be wild, considering it used
to be you just get Sunday and Monday.
That was your NFL.
You got all your fix in two days and then the entire week was spent talking
about Sunday Monday.
We're going to be doing shows and we're going to be recapping NFL games on
a Tuesday, on a Wednesday, and it doesn't feel like it's that far off.
And with the media rights deals coming up soon, it feels like this is a lot
of this stuff is going to happen faster.
And I think a lot of people realize I've even seen that Sunday night football
and NBC that there's the potential they might switch that Amazon,
the Amazon streaming game will be on Sunday nights and NBC will move to Thursday
night. I think there's all sorts of stuff that's going to change with this stuff.
Coming up, that all comes down to money.
And that's one of the things that if you look at just which companies have
the most money, I mean, go look at the market cap right now for Amazon.
I think they're around three trillion, four trillion, whatever that number is.
Go like the market cap for Netflix.
It's like 300 billion, something like that.
I mean, they have more money than Fox.
They have more money than CBS.
They have, you know, maybe even say if you start to include some others,
depending on who would want to get into the game.
Apple, for example, is worth about four trillion.
So when you start factoring in, who could potentially buy up these rights?
If the NFL wants to transition to streaming, it's the streaming platforms
that are in existence or, you know, other companies that have the deep
pockets to do so.
And we've seen joint ventures and partnerships before.
I mean, you know, we've seen talent used from a linear
intelligence network used on a digital streaming platform.
So it kind of looks and feels like it's that, you know, that linear
intelligence and your normal broadcast television crew, but just in a streaming
platform.
And so we've seen some, some different ways in which the streaming
platforms have helped to lessen what it looks like and how it feels
transitioning from live television to streaming.
But again, this isn't that hard to do.
It's not that hard to figure out.
The companies with the most money are going to be the companies that the NFL is
trying to target because they know they can pay those rights.
How much does this have to do with the, the Disney effect?
You know, I'm curious as to how much impact
Disney's continued kind of gaining of assets within this space is
playing a part in these conversations.
You mean like influencing it?
I don't think they have anything to do with like this portion of things.
I mean, I think Disney's already done a good job of segueing and creating
a destination for ESPN plus where you can find all their streaming.
But these ultimately are decisions that are made by Gidele and the owners
that are driving it.
You know, ESPN just want to be a part of it.
So that's where that comes from.
You know, but this ship is going in a direction that the NFL purely dictates.
Because think about it.
Like they're the ones that are going to be charging the rights fees anyway.
But look at it from the perspective of what they're, what they're attempting
to do with basketball and how they've hit so many different platforms,
you know, outlets on how they're, they're using, you know, using their content.
So I kind of look at it like, are they looking at this from a competitive angle?
You know, is it purely just looking at it from the dollar standpoint?
Or is this, is this a move based upon maybe, I don't know, maybe staying competitive,
you know, almost, almost to say, you know, our offerings are, are expansive as well.
You know, you never want to get behind.
You never want to stop and look and be like, Oh crap, like we let someone else.
We let another entity catch up to us.
Now I know Disney has gotten involved with the NFL as well.
Correct?
Isn't it?
It hasn't there been like some type of a relationship form between Disney and, yeah,
they might, they might be the NFL when it's all said and done.
Based on them, they've taken that work, all of that sort of been consolidated into one.
They took over the media companies within the NFL, but, but again, you know, they, they play,
like if you look at Fox, Fox pays 2.2 billion a year, CBS plays 2.1 billion a year,
NBC pays 2 billion a year, Amazon pays currently 1 billion a year for the,
there's a night football package, which kind of wild.
And ESPN currently pays the NFL 2.7 billion a year.
So ESPN's currently paying them the most, but again, them taking over those assets,
I think they're two different conversations.
I think the NFL looks at ESPN be able to do a better job of building out some of those assets,
whether it's the NFL network, NFL fancy, red zone, but really, like what it did was,
it made it, things more streamlined for the NFL, like the NFL doesn't have to be a media company
and an NFL, you know, a national football league, because they can just do one.
They never figured that out, they never figured that one out.
And they value it at 3 billion, right?
So the NFL is able to get 3 billion out of that deal, and at the same time find a media partner
that they probably felt like could help, you know, build up, you know, that amount or whatever.
But, you know, it's, to me, they're kind of two different conversations, like the,
the ability for them to opt out of the current media rights deal to go find spaces where,
I mean, if you think about it, like opening up how we look at appointment television,
we used to hear that term all the time, you know, nowadays appointment television to us,
and I know we're older, because we remember the days where you used to come back and watch a show
on a certain night of the week, right?
At a certain time, you know, it wasn't just, you know, Monday night football or whatever it was,
we used to go watch.
We used to go back home and it'd be like eight o'clock and say, this show is on, I'm going to watch it.
And that was appointment television.
Nowadays, you know, lives are tough to, to, to form that way.
And so streaming services have been, have been very accustomed to people being able to watch
at their own leisure.
The problem is, live sports, you just, you can't do it.
You don't have the gambling, you know, aspect of it.
You don't have any, any portion of that.
So what's their counter that, because they don't have that in their inventory.
Like their entire model has been based off of the leisure of being, people have been
to watch them when they want.
Well, if they want to tap into that market, they have to get involved.
And so they have to get involved with live sports and the NFL again is king.
So it's why they've kind of dipped their toe in.
But the Jonas's point, I think they're going to jump full fledging cannibal into this
thing.
And that media rights deal by, let's say, 20, 30 could look at a lot different as far as
how we consume NFL content.
It's crazy.
Jonas, can you carry the show, Jonas?
It's just a, okay.
All right.
It's a, it's crazy just to think where we were at and it wasn't that long ago.
And where we're at now to where you've got, was it Netflix?
You've got CBS Paramount, you've got Fox, you've got your ESPN.
It's everywhere.
And it's, and it's not, yeah, YouTube, it's not, it's not, at some point, somebody's
got to design a remote strictly for the NFL, all right, to where you're not having
a scrambling around to find which streaming service the games are going to be on.
Hey, where's the NFL remote?
And it's got every single button you hit and it pops up on your TV because it's a pain
in the ass to try and navigate around.
Gone of the days, you could just go from one channel to the next.
And so now with all the streaming and everything that comes along with it, majorly baseballs
with Netflix now and BC's involved, the ESPN's involved, Fox is involved, it isn't even
just an NFL thing.
I think everybody recognizes, dude, you can't just, it isn't, it's no longer is it
just NFC belongs to Fox or CBS and the AFC or goes to, the NFC goes to Fox and, you know,
the NFC goes somewhere else or vice versa.
Now it's just, we're just going to get what we can get.
We're going to take as much money as we can and it's a full blown takeover and it's every
sport now.
It's just crazy to think how fast this has moved and it's going to be moving even quicker
coming up in the next couple of years.
It's a tie bit confusing to get to tell you like when it first hit Amazon Prime, I was
missing Thursday night games because I forgot that it was on Amazon Prime.
Where do you think it was on ESPN?
And I would look for it on the television and I'd be like, Oh, crap.
I forgot that it was on Amazon Prime.
I mean, ESPN still does have college football on Thursday nights.
There's that 730 kickoff.
I'm just just said that the NFL thinks it can walk into a Tuesday Wednesday night during
football season and compete against the Mac.
I don't want to see this.
That's cat.
It has been a tradition that the Mac owns Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
True.
And being a fan of a fan of Maxion, that's what upsets me the most.
That is hilarious.
You're being I'm being dead serious right now, you know, because now yeah, the Mac games
are the first A, it's football weather games like I can I can drive in two hours and almost
any direction and hit a Mac game on any Tuesday Wednesday in the fall in person.
That's what I'm saying.
I need that in my life.
I need that.
I mean, just getting a little dose of it during the tournament with Miami, Ohio and seeing
that fan base, how lit up they were.
I was just talking to a buddy yesterday about it and he goes, because he, because I saw
him at the game in full disclosure, I got bombed at that game.
I apologize for anyone who thought I was being a little too rowdy.
Oh, did you get butchered at yeah, good for you.
I think I got over served like everyone's having a great time.
It was an awesome atmosphere.
That Dayton arena, Larry Conner, he's the billionaire who was donated a bunch to Dayton.
That thing is phenomenal.
I'm telling you, if you ever get a chance to get a Dayton arena, you go to Dayton arena
and check it out.
It is an incredible venue.
Just a match in the spirit of the Mac that night in the tournament.
God, it was amazing.
Like, I just, the NFL is trying to take this away.
I've said before, the NFL is like divesting into so many different things where you get
a little, people a little bit confused about what the product is.
And it's almost like, you know, if you get Joe burrow or some of these other guys, what
was the thing to go out and play in there?
They're in the flight football team and maybe they start to view a flight football league
as, hey, I've got a longer runway here.
If this becomes popular, maybe I'll, I'll be a guy who we're looking at, flag football
20 years from now, the way to do the NFL.
I'm not sure if that's the thought or that's what they think that's going to be.
I'm not a fan of that.
I don't believe that.
It's the case.
But that's why it's so hard for me to understand like what this whole push is outside of the Olympics
in 2028.
Why everyone keeps pushing the flag deal outside of trying to get, you know, boys, girls
like different people at younger ages into the game because they don't play tackle yet
or they don't have tackle it, you know, for girls, they don't have tackle it at that age.
Like whatever that may be, that's, it's just hard to understand that process of where
the NFL is at.
Do you think that they, do you think that there really isn't a gender like a long term
plan?
Like, hey, we're going to systematically do this or is it just a, somebody's offering
this much money, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take.
And then we'll just, we'll figure it out afterwards.
We'll look at the damage and assess it afterwards.
It doesn't have to be one or the other, both of the things that you say it could be true.
They're probably all, I mean, there has to be an agenda, I mean, just with the things
that the issues that surround the NFL, there has to be an agenda with issues that surround
the, the, the CTE concussions, you know, the, the physicality of the sport, the safety
of the sport, there has to be an agenda.
Is that agenda to shift from tackle to flag altogether?
I would doubt that, I would seriously doubt that, but is this a way to combat some of
the things and the claims that come down the pipe for football and, and I guess the NFL
being obviously the, the flag ship, the, the, you know, the criminal, the criminal or
the standard of what football is, I think they have to address it.
You can't just not just ignore it.
You know, the, the participation numbers for, for tackle is down.
It's down.
And, and so there has to be a strategic move if, if you're losing what, is it down a PA
to, like, if you check back, I mean, Western PA football from, from all reports that I've
gotten is, is not what it was.
It is.
The participation is down.
There's even teams that are, like, going away, you know, like, yeah, it's just not
those dudes walk out of coal mines, putting a, a football helmet on and getting to work,
you know what I'm saying?
I guess not.
I guess not.
Put them in a body back, Johnny.
You know, it's, it's like, there's just really not a lot of suit.
Yeah.
Now they're in the different things and I just, I just wonder, and the reason why I brought
up ESPN, I just, I just wonder how, if, if we're talking about trillions, like, man,
that's crazy to think that now, now, you know, companies are in the trillions in what
it is that they have going on.
If there is any ESPN's not just to be just to their Amazon, you say Amazon and Amazon Apple.
I mean, right.
You see the box.
You see the boxes every day at your house.
But if they're, if they're that high, how high is the NFL, if you're talking about one
singular, one singular franchise can go for up to, what, nine, 12 billion?
What's the NFL work?
You know what I mean?
Because if you do that, if you do that 30 sometimes over where they're, it's, it's roughly
227, 230 billion, I think that's what the math comes out to.
Okay.
I mean, I think, I think the average for a team is about seven is what estimates are because
you had a factor in some that aren't quite, you know, nine, 10, like some are less than
that.
So that's, I mean, what's, to me, the bigger question is, what is the end goal?
Like, how fat of a pig?
How fat of a hog are you trying to be in the end?
I guess there's never, I think you just never stop.
Like, don't stop.
I think what's most interesting about the NFL and the media rights deal and how they're
going to get to where they want to get to is, you know, they dictate to the networks.
If you look at college football, college football is still in the space and really a lot
of other sports for that matter, like, I, you kind of heard this from Gary Beattman,
I talked about the NHL rights and then even the PJ tour and Brian Rolap talking about,
you know, that, there's a few ways of looking at it, but one is the way they go about
saying, you know, this is what our networks can do for you.
You know, if you look at how college football is with the different, you know, networks
with different conferences, they're saying, like, they're saying to those conferences,
this is what our network can do for you.
This is how we're going to help you expand your brand.
This is how we're going to make you a national brand, you know, especially if you,
as you look at the changing of conferences, you know, the big 10s able to say, we can provide
a window where people in the west coast, people in the east coast, they can be watching
all these teams because they're on the same conference now.
And we can provide that for you that's going to help grow your brand nationally and find
touch points for alumni bases nationally.
So, so that's more than how that conversation goes, but in the NFL, it's different, you
know, they're the ones that are steering the ship saying, no, no, this is where we want
to go.
This is the numbers we want to hit.
This is how we're going to do it.
We need to find partners that can bring us there.
And I think the NFL knows that the infrastructure for streaming is not there yet.
It's not there from a gambling perspective, which obviously prediction markets in particular,
Kowshi and Pauli market are going to be some of the bigger sponsors moving forward.
They know that they can't necessarily be completely all in the streaming because it's
not built out to have enough capacity to bring those numbers in.
You know, that big panel of data, that combination of numbers they want for viewership, it's
just not quite there to allow the streamers to have as big of an impact as linear television
does.
So, four years from now, it could look a lot different, but they're just not there yet.
Especially the way you guys pay games.
It's rough, man.
What exactly does that mean?
That didn't fit me one bit, Jonas.
Okay.
Yeah, Jonas, you got dead last in our picks this year.
I don't remember that was like so long ago.
What are we talking about here?
You guys were messing things up.
You were talking about money lines.
Didn't next thing you know, you're doing money lines because I had no choice.
Get out of here.
Actually, you guys poised in the well.
I had no choice.
I had to get a drink.
What am I supposed to do?
Get on out of here, man.

I'm the producer of the Paul and Tony Fusco show.
Usually in these promos, they ask you to listen to the show.
I'm here to ask you, please don't listen to the show.
The hosts are two absolute morons who have the dumbest takes on sports imaginable.
Don't listen to the show so it can get canceled.
What's the hell are you doing?
Get him, Paul!
Ignore that fool.
Listen to the Paul and Tony Fusco show on the I Heart Radio app.
Oh, wherever you get your podcast, he's still moving.
All right, quick break.
Brady, be honest.
How much time did you spend this week arguing with yourself about MVP rankings?
Too much.
There were like six tabs open, trying to figure out if the stats actually
back up the narrative or if it's just all vibes.
That's exactly why Claude is the move.
Throw it a question like that and it doesn't just spit out a take.
It'll lay out the case from multiple angles,
poke holes in your logic and make you earn your opinion.
And now Claude has a new live sports functionality that shows real-time score,
standings and player stats across all major leagues.
Wait, so you can be mid-conversation, breaking down a trade and just ask for that player's
last 10 games?
Yep.
And then Claude keeps going with the analysis using those actual numbers.
It's not two separate things anymore.
Deep research goes hard too.
Ask it to dig into something and it pulls from way more sources than you'd find on your own.

No issues with that league. No problems whatsoever. Not any any sort of stuff that's popped up as far
as you know gambling and tanking and whatnot. He spoke about tanking and he spoke about the
solution and some steps that the league is going to take to fix the tanking issue in the league.
Let's take a listen. One topic not so positive and that's ongoing tanking issues in the league.
We had a lengthy conversation about the issue. This meeting was not about pointing fingers
at any team in particular, in particular. Again, I understand where the incentives are. We
understand why it results in certain behavior. And I will say it was seem unanimous in the room
that we needed to make a change and we needed to make a change for next season exactly what that
changes were continuing to work on. No votes were taken today. I think there's also unanimous agreement
that we need to make this change in advance of the draft and free agency this year. So all the
teams understand the rules of the road going into next year. That means we will most likely have a
special board meeting in May in which at that point we will we will vote on whatever modification
we come up with and we are going to fix it full stop. You know what that means in the meantime,
tank away everybody. Do what you got to do. All right, because they're coming up with changes
this off season. So whoever is in the midst of tanking to try and be a part of this loaded draft class
coming up, just continue to do what you're doing. But don't worry, they're going to put a stop
to this in the off season. I'll believe it when I see it. Why is there such a negative connection to
tanking because aren't you seeking a positive outcome? Isn't that considered to be a
strategical movement like giving up is one thing. Giving up says to me, there's nothing beyond
giving up like you've quit. There's there's no resolution and there's no solution to to the situation.
Tanking, if I if I got LeBron James from tanking, if I got Michael Jordan or magic Johnson
from tanking Cooper flag from tanking, Wimbanyama from tanking, if you tank the best in that scenario,
it could change the outlook and the outcomes for many, many, many moons. How how has this become
such a conversation where there's such vitriol connected to how it's discussed? That's what's
a tad bit confusing to me because if you're trying to be it's one thing if your team you're trying
to take your team and from day one we're tanking. It's like what with the reason for for tanking from
day one other than to know that you could potentially get a Wimbanyama in the next upcoming draft,
which by the way, why would you tank if you if you don't know what type of team you have coming into
the season? So I would assume you're going to start tanking at some point in the season where it's
like, oh, this is not going to be a good year. And even if the correlation of it we didn't have a good
year to year prior to, oh, we didn't have a good year to prior to that one. What what has turned
tanking into such this boogie man of of a topic? That's why I'm I'm curious because I know it's
buying tickets. I get that like, okay, it's for the fans, maybe I get that, but isn't that still a
part of strategy to try and win? Yeah, I mean, I think there's a few ways of looking at it. The first is
so, you know, if you do decide to tank and you make it, maybe without saying it pretty apparent,
the fan base is going to know so your ticket sales are going to reflect that. Like,
ultimately as the owner, like, that's the decision you made. This is the penalty you have to take.
Like, you're going to have to stink and probably lose money for that year in order to build back up
and become better down the road. You know, there's there's decisions that business owners have to
make that are somewhat similar in nature. You know, maybe the way they go about investing some of
the capital back into the company or however they go about, you know, handling stuff, there's
going to be times where they have to take a short-term hit to try to build back, right? And that's
essentially what you're talking about. I mean, I think the idea or the framework around tanking,
the issue that most people have with it is this is supposed to be an experience. It's supposed to
be something that you can be proud of as a fan, right? That team that you put on their logo,
like, it represents you, you represent them. And there's that shared love for the sport,
for the game, for everything else. And you feel like if your team's going out there not
putting their best foot forward or trying their hardest, it's like, well, why should I
give you my time? Why should I sacrifice my money to come watch your route for you?
I think that's ultimately what it's about and why it's so frowned upon is Adam Silver
halves has to find ways of putting in protective mechanisms. So teams aren't able to just, you know,
throwing the towel in an entire season, ostracize their fan base, all in the hopes of
being able to get certain players to be better the next year or in the future, which again, like,
you could sit there and say, like, if the fan base understood the plan, maybe half the fan base
or more than half would go along with it and say, we get it. Like, we get it. Like, well, we've
gone through seasons in our life where we've got to go through a short-term pain to come out
in a better long-term outcome. But I think for that time being, it's hard to sell that product,
that brand that the team's trying to sell in the short-term. And that's what this is more about.
I just, I think that's the problem. I think a lot of these leagues or owners think the fans are
dumb. And so they try and gaslight you into thinking, oh, no, no, no, no, listen, what you're seeing
isn't the case. We mean it this time. No, no, this, like, we're really going for, no, you're not,
no, you're like, you want to lose. You want to increase your odds at getting the best player in the
draft. Just like that. That means you want to win. Yeah, long-term. You say it, I'm sad.
And you're on a win. But they're trying, they're trying to say we care about the now when the
reality is, no, you care about the next. That's like, whatever's what you're doing. I can under,
if you would have, if you would have just told, do you think calves fans, Brady's a calves fan?
I think everybody was under all sort of an agreement. We know what's going on here. Like, we want
LeBron. We get it. It just like the Blazers are trying to do the same thing. That's how that whole
chancey bill of those part of that, the whole chancey bill of stanking thing, because they wanted
Wemba Nyama. They wanted to increase their odds and try and get the best player in the draft.
The lottery I thought was to try and not make it so you could manipulate it. Yeah, to increase
your odds. But there are times where teams with the best odds don't end up with the best player. But
then you get situations like Patrick Ewing with the mix. People still don't think that was on the
up and up. I've heard stuff about LeBron James. People still don't think that was on the up and
up. Like there's just the NBA's got too many red flags of things out there with gambling and
whatnot to wear fans. I think of the league. Look at it and go, are you telling me the truth or
feed me a bunch of crap? Hold on, hold on. I think people go to NBA games. They're like, oh,
they're not picking on us. I can't, I can't bet. I can't believe in this game. I mean, come on.
I think people go to NBA games because they want to be entertained. And I think there are certain
fan bases that go there because they really, really care about the product and they want to watch a
winner. And I think there's other fan bases that go there because they just want to be seen.
But they want to show pictures. What does that have to do with what you just said? Okay, so my point
is the NBA is trying to present this idea that hey, we know we got issues and we're really trying
hard to fix it. You're not like you're not trying hard to fix it. Teams just come out and say,
this is the plan. This is what's going forward. That's why Mark Cuban coming out and saying, hey man,
tanking works. Like, I'm sorry. But nobody wants to just be honest about what the issues are.
And that's the bigger issue. To me, that's the bigger issue. And, and, and you both touched on it.
Just, just, I mean, if a team is bad, a team is bad. Like in basketball, I feel like it is more
feasible to have this conversation. I think tanking and football is egregious. And the reason why I
think it's egregious in football is because one, you have way less games. And two, when, when
talking about football, there's so many different players. One player, I don't care how good that one
player is. One player will never make the entire team good. It's not one player, not even Patrick
Mahomes, not even Tom Brady, not one player in the national football league is the, is the catalyst
of we will not lose. We will win a championship because of that one person in basketball. It's very
different. One person can impact an entire team. One person, both offensively and defensively.
So the, the roles are different. There's less people in basketball. To me, to me, when you look at
what the possibilities, possibilities and the potential of what can happen with one player
being brought into your doors, if tanking gets me magic Johnson or Kareem Abdul Jabbar, I'm tanking.
If my team is not good, I'm tanking. Now, let's define tanking. You still have a professional team.
It's a pro team. So when we say tanking, we're basically saying who's ever playing out there on
that court, who by the way, they're not tanking. I never met a player that knew they were tanking.
Like, hey, hey, Brady, are we tanking this week? Oh, yeah, bro, we're good. Like, all right, bro,
like, where are we going? I don't know, but hey, away from here, nobody is in those locker rooms.
Just, oh, yeah, we're consciously. We're tanking. Tanking is, oh, I have James Harton on my team.
I'm not playing them because I want to trade them. And I'm tanking the season.
To me, you still have other guys who are playing their hearts out because they're playing for a job.
They're playing to try to win. Whatever it may be, their motivations are there. It's the coaches
that are, or the ownership that is making, taking that active stance on what tanking represents.
It's not like these guys are like, oh, yeah, we got replacement guys from off the streets to come
in and play because we're tanking. Those are professionals that are going out there and playing.
And they're unaware of the fact that, oh, we're supposed to be losing this game. It's just that
your team isn't winning. They're not winning. And so by saying that you've impacted the product
and the experience, no, you have it. These are professionals that are playing basketball out there.
You might not see the marquee names. You might not see a, a, a, a list of marquee names that's
out there and they're sitting on the bench or they're in street clothes. But hey, Anthony Davis is
always hurt. Are you saying it's tanking because he's hurt more often than not. And he's not in the
games and he's not playing. Look at Zion and everything he's gone through. He's been hurt and he
hasn't been out there. So when you get a marquee player and he's not playing, I mean, he's not out
there. But you still have other pros. They are all pros. If you can help contribute the win,
then why are you on the roster? So to me, I feel like it gets a little overblown when we throw out
the term tanking. It's been turned into this big villain of a word. It's been turned into this
horrible deal. That's what I think. It's a two pros and a cup of Joe here on Fox Sports Radio.
