A poche production. Hey, it's Katie Matten here, your new host of Your Morning Mantra. Today's meditation is about recognizing when you are taking responsibility for things actually belong to someone else. Your Morning Mantra, I let other people carry what belongs to them. Ease into a comfortable position and take a deep breath. Slowly stretch your neck, moving your head from one side to the other, releasing the tension. And let your shoulders drop. Take a deep breath in.
And slowly let it go. Put aside what you need to do today and take a moment for yourself. You deserve it. Some of us become very good at carrying things for other people. Their problems, their emotions, their responsibilities, their disappointment. Sometimes even the consequences of their choices will step in. We fix, we organise, we smooth things over because we care. And because it can feel uncomfortable watching someone we love struggle. But helping someone and carrying everything for them are not the same thing. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is allow someone to solve their own problem.
Have the difficult conversation, make their own decision, or experience the consequence of their own choice. You can support someone without rescuing them. You can love someone without taking responsibility for their happiness. And you can care without carrying what was never yours to carry. Today notice what belongs to you and what belongs to someone else. Offer support where it feels right, but allow others to carry what is theirs. Today's mantra, I let other people carry what belongs to them. Repeat to yourself either out loud or in your mind. I let other people carry what belongs to them. Carry this calm with you throughout your day.
You do not need to hold every worry. You do not need to predict every outcome. Just breathe and trust yourself. I'll see this afternoon for our reflection.
