Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen is not ruling that out. The owner is our we would be at polling places if there is a threat to that polling place.

3:05And the NBA just handed the Los Angeles Clippers one of the harshest punishments in league history. Clippers get $530 million. Clippers owner Steve Balmer is suspended from all league and team activities for one year. And HBCU football is putting numbers up. We'll tell you which two schools just pulled in 1.7 million viewers on ABC. That's coming up. It's Friday, September 4th. From the Black Effect Podcast Network, I'm Mimi Brown. This is Front Page. And here are the days biggest stories. Stay with me. There are new concerns about ICE agents showing up at polling places this November. Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen is not ruling that out. Mullen says ICE would not be there just to patrol polling places, but says agents could show up if there's a specific threat. I was being very, very clear when I said ICE isn't there to patrol the polling places. We're there to enforce specific threats.

4:05The only reason why we would be at polling places if there is a threat to that polling place or we're serving a warrant on someone that we have been actively cracking down. We're not going to be at the I. That ICE's job is immigration custom enforcement. That's their job. And so if we're doing something, we're doing that specifically for immigration custom enforcement. If we're serving a warrant, we will be what we need to be. And that answer is getting attention because voting rights groups and some Democrats have been warning about armed federal agents being anywhere near voters this November. There's also a federal law restricting armed federal personnel from being stationed at polling places where elections are being held. And Senator Alyssa Slokin is now asking DHS, the Justice Department, the FBI and the National Guard for something very simple in writing. Justice you will not send armed federal agents to the polls. The Pentagon has already told the military it has no plans to send federal troops or federalized

5:07National Guard members to polling places. DHS also says ICE has not been given any special instructions to be at polling places on election day. But Molen is leaving the door open if agents say they're responding to a threat or serving a warrant. With the midterms just months away, voting rights groups are watching this closely. And the NBA just handed the Los Angeles Clippers one of the biggest punishments in league history, a $30 million fine and the first five round draft picks are now gone. And the owner, Steve Wommer, has been suspended for a year. The NBA says the Clippers broke salary cap rules by helping arrange outside endorsement money for a quiet Leonard. And here's how it all came to light. Journalist Pablo Torre broke the story last year uncovering a $28 million endorsement involving Leonard and a company connected to Balmer and the Clippers that reporting triggered an

6:08NBA investigation. And now Torre and his team are reacting to the punishment. This is the largest punishment in the history of the NBA. The Clippers get fine $30 million. Clippers owner Steve Balmer. He's suspended from all league and team activities for one year for knowingly seeking to help Mr. Leonard obtain off court income opportunities for approving a business deal that he knew was a precondition for aspiration to enter into an endorsement agreement with Mr. Leonard. And for Balmer's failure to create conditions under which his organization abided by the NBA's circumvention rules. Steve Balmer in this situation, when you're suspended from league and team activities, that means he doesn't go to owners meetings. You could say that's no big deal. Maybe he doesn't want to go. He can't be around the team. He can't go into his own arena according to this punishment as you just read. He will be attending a total of zero games, zero practices, zero league wide events, owners

7:13meetings, etc. This is a full one year suspension. And the punishment goes beyond Balmer. Hawaii Leonard was fine $700,000. Clippers business president Gillian Zucker is suspended without pay for a year basketball operations president Lawrence Frank is suspended without pay for six months and Leonard's former business manager Dennis Robertson is banned from doing business with NBA teams and players for five years. And those five first round picks, well, the Clippers lose them every year from 2029 through 2033. But the Clippers are pushing back. They say the investigation was biased and they're challenging the punishment. But unless that changes, they won't have another first round pick of their own until 2034. That's not just a punishment for what happened. That's a punishment this franchise could feel for years. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and health captive for nine months.

And finally on this Friday, HBCU football is putting up numbers. Howard University and Alabama AMU faced off in the MiX SWAC challenge in Atlanta. And 1.2 million people watched the game on average on ABC.

14:20And at its peak, 1.7 million viewers. And that audience was up 10% from last year. Howard won the game 31 to 24. And it came down to the final minutes. Alabama AMM had actually come back from being down 13 nothing and took the lead late in the fourth quarter. Then Howard answered, Sequan Osborne caught a 51 yard touchdown with less than three minutes left putting Howard back on top. And the bison held it from there. But the story is getting so much attention because of the audience, because this wasn't some quiet weekend with nothing else on television. There were more than 20 other HBCU games being played that weekend plus the rest of the college football schedule. And Howard and Alabama AMM still average 1.2 million viewers on network television.
