We're here to talk about some previously disappointing performances, but for once doesn't have anything to do with you, so I'm sure that's a really exciting, exciting twist here for you. Yeah, it's great. It's friendly talking bad about somebody else, and the first

5:26we were talking bad about is Jeremiah Smith, one of the worst players in America. Now, yeah, we are talking about Jeremiah Smith and just imagine the the fuel he has right now in the fire to want to do something against Texas after the first game in 2024 against Texas one catch for three yards. They won, so he's cool with that. Six catches for 43 yards, and last year, a season opener against Texas. They want, so he's cool with that. Seven catches for 46 yards and his career against Texas, which that might be Texas football's claim to fame at this point. I don't know that they've done greater than that throughout their entire history. And he would gladly take another. He'd take a zero for zero and get a win, but I don't think that's happening. And two reasons why, Tom, and then I'll let you speak and see how you do. Arthur Smith, when I asked you are my

6:26Smith a week or two ago, what is different about Arthur Smith's offense for you? Then he said, what's different? We're going to get me in the ball. Okay, that sounds interesting. And then the second thing here is Will Musham is the defensive coordinator now at Texas, not Pete Kwikowski, right? And who was the? What? What? Kawaski? Kawaski was the guy that last two years who devised, let's just do everything we can to stop Jeremiah Smith. So you've got two different philosophies going into this game and both may benefit Jeremiah Smith, even though Texas is still going to do it, they can to try to slow him down, but there's, there's every possibility of a sizable game here for Jeremiah Smith, or at least a sizable attempt. Well, Tony, I'm going to be so bold as to predict. And this is a, you can call it a bold prediction. Is this an early start on our bold prediction show who's to say I will boldly predict that Jeremiah Smith exceeds Tony. He's total from the previous

7:32two games combined against Texas Longhorn and some more than 46 yards receiving for Jeremiah Smith this weekend. And for the reasons that you brought up, because they have, you know, this is a little like the 90 Chicago bowls where the question was, do you try and stop Michael Jordan and through everything you got at him and, you know, make someone else beat you? Or do you say he's going to get his and I'm just we're going to take away everyone else. And, you know, there were those strategies were to, you know, varying degrees. They did win six titles in a row when Michael Jordan was on the team. So, you know, not great all the time. But that Texas has looked at Jeremiah Smith and said, we are going to take away Michael Jordan and someone else is going to have to beat us. And to Ohio State's credit, someone else has beaten them in the last, each of the last two games. It was, you know, kind of Travian Henderson and Jack Sawyer in the Cotton Bowl and then it was kind of the Ohio State defense in last year's regular season opener. But Ohio State did beat them in both games. I think Will, Will, I almost called him Will Smith goodness. We're going to say

8:39I was thinking about the defense of life in for Ohio State. Sure. Why not? Will Mustchamp, I think, is going to be a little bit more aggressive than than Pete Quikowski was. And I think you're probably going to see Jeremiah Smith. You know, I don't think you're going to see him singled up a lot. But I don't know that he's going to get quite as much attention as he did last year. And part of that is, Ohio State has a bunch of different weapons. You know, you look at the running game last year for that Texas game. And it was James Peoples, who was not a starter pretty much, you know, a week after that. And it was CJ Donaldson, who was kind of a situational role player for most of the rest of the season. Bo Jackson, who is the guy who's been starting running back for essentially most of the last 12 months for Ohio State, didn't get a carry in that game. Legend Bay was not on the team in that game. Colonel Tate was, but Devon McEwen was not. And Julian Sain was a first game starter in that game. Now he's someone who has a year of starting under his belt and another year in the weight room

9:42and all that kind of stuff. He just feels like this is an Ohio State team that's going to, that can hurt you in a lot more ways than they could in game one of last year. And that means Texas is going to have to spread their focus a little more. You know, very much the last year. Ohio State wins that game. 77 yards rushing 126 yards passing 54 plays total 3.8 yards per play. Like, how did you win this game exactly and credit to the defense for the buckais and getting that done. But yeah, this is, if they have 200 three yards total in this one, things are not going to go well. In fact, they both teams may want to have 200 yards total in the first half of each half basically because I think they're, I'm going to confidently say that there's going to be more scoring than there was last year. And that's because the two offenses are better than they were last year. More confident. They know what they have. They have more. So for every reason, I think

10:45things are going to be bigger and better this time around. And one of those reasons being Jeremiah Smith. And I do think Arthur Smith is going to find ways. I wish he could go back and look like Marvin Harrison against Georgia in 2022 when Will Must-Champ was the DC there. You know, I know he got knocked out of the game, but there were also he was making plays in that game. And it's just going to be up to Julian Sand to be calm enough under pressure because he is going to be under pressure. But then also I think they have enough around Jeremiah that they don't just, he just doesn't, doesn't need to just just try to look at Jeremiah. But when they have those opportunities, the past protection has to hold up when they're dialing up something for Jeremiah, you better have all hands on deck so that that football can get off because the second they're the corners of Texas. I'm I'm not super like we'll see. I'm not super high on them. Bo Masco comes over

11:49from Rutgers and and sophomore Kate Phillips started a couple of games last year as a freshman. He's their starter now. I think there can be some damage done there. But it's it's up to the offensive line to make that happen. So if Jeremiah Smith has a good day, it's because the offensive line has a good day as well. You that's almost certainly true. And I think you're going to want to get Jeremiah Smith. You're going to want to get Jeremiah Smith an opportunity down the field at some point. You saw an opportunity down the field against Ball State in week one and he caught it again with one hand against his helmet. And but that was an out and up route. And that's going to take a little bit of time. I mean, even though it was Julie and saying getting rid of the ball relatively early and it's still required a really good blitz pickup out of Bo Jackson to be able to have that much time. So I think you're going to have you're going to try and get one or two of those Jeremiah. I'm sure. But I think they also want to just get the ball out. Get the ball out of Julian Sands hands and into Jeremiah's hands. And maybe that's little bubbles. Maybe that's a little slant. Maybe you know, whatever it is. Get him the ball with a blocker in front of him. Get

12:54him the ball on the move and try and let him, you know, once he has the ball in open space, you just want as an offensive coordinator. All you're looking to do is make the opposing defensive corner to kind of go, oh, no, like, you know, like a scary movie, like you're kind of looking through your fingers like that. You that's what Jeremiah Smith's with the ball in spaces. That's what legend Bay with the ball in spaces. That's probably what they're from a human with the ball in spaces. You just want to try and just get the ball out to those guys and then, you know, run the Jeremiah Smith do something cool play. That is that's kind of what you're you're probably looking to do. Get push the Jeremiah Smith button and then see what happens. They've been working on the the quick passing yard chapter catch all off season. Didn't necessarily need to see much of that against ball state because they could throw intermediate stuff and just be fine with that. Here, I think you might see a lot of that quick stuff. And it wouldn't shock me if it's some point in this game. Jeremiah Smith does have six for 43. But then eventually, you know, something more beyond that because I do think they're

13:58going to try to hammer it to him as much as you can without actually hammering it to him. You know, you're going to find ways, move him around. I always think about the the first, I think, the touchdown pass in the Rose Bowl where four yards behind the line of scrimmage when he gets the ball, you know, those sorts of things where I can throw it to you here because the defense defense can't come here legally. So, you know, like, no sorts of things where it's just there's no stopping it, you but you got to block it. And perimeter blocking is pretty good last week. So we'll see how it goes this week. But seven career catches against Texas. Do you think he gets that this week? Yes. I think so. Yeah. I think he's I think he's he's certainly going to have I would expect him to have 12 targets, something like that. You know, and you know, maybe maybe one of those is they give a toolmine and end around an account as a rush instead of a instead of a passing target.

14:58But I think they're going to try and get him the ball 10 to 12 times. And you figure he's probably going to be higher than 50% completions on those on those throws. So yeah, also he gets to seven and well over 46. Well, okay, all right. Okay, let me jot this down. How did the Penn taste? Was it given? Eight for one fifty one and two touchdowns is what he did against ball state. If he does that again against Texas, that just means Ohio State has scored 14 points. We have no idea how the rest of the game has gone. And that may be the last two touchdowns of the fourth quarter to make it 48 14 or something like that. Either way, whoever who knows who has those 48. But I don't that doesn't really tell us much, but I do expect him to be effective and used well and they're going to look for him. But also, if you want to ignore Devin McEwen, do it at your own risk. But what do you guys think? What are you expecting from Jeremy Smith?
