1:0410th inning show begins now, Jack McMullan, AJ Ramos here with you. Marlins fall to the Chicago Cubs 6 to 1. The final score here tonight at Lone Depot Park. This was a game that you know, it was tough. It kind of got away from the fish in the middle to later half of this one. It was the four walks issued in the top of the six thinning and a run came in there. It was part of a three run top of the six thinning, but Jansen Junk mentioned in the total segment, tough luck loser who's five innings a one run ball. First and foremost, what did you make a chance at tonight? I thought he was great. I thought he filled up the zone. He was attacking hitters. He had a really good fill for his pitch mix. He backed up a few sliders and sweepers that made him pay for. But for the most part, he did exactly what he was supposed to do is one run ball game. So and he went five. He did. He did all he can do. It's just the bullpen today. I mean, you can't defend walks. And especially against the team, like you mentioned before, they take a lot of walks. They get on base and they just let the bullpen kind of, you know, do it to themselves tonight.

2:08Yeah. Now on the other side, showed at Imanaga, that splitter was good, man. And we knew if Imanaga made a mistake, the Marlins weren't a position to pounce with the big swingers that they had in the lineup. Unfortunately, there just weren't too many mistakes for showed it tonight. There wasn't too many mistakes and he was able to land. And he did land that splitter in the zone. It started off in the same plane as that fastball. So out of the hand, it looked like his very hittable 91 mile per hour fastball. And especially when it's in the middle third as far as height of the strike zone, that's where guys punish it. And when his splitter in the zone started to start at that same point, it looked like that fastball and they were swinging right over it. And then when he got to two strikes, then he was able to throw that splitter down below the zone and get a lot of chase. So I mean, he really did a good job. It was as advertised as far as being able to have fastball in the splitter combination. And then if guys look too good on either one of those pitches, he'd flip with that sweeper up there. So like he was he was firing firing on all cylinders. So in the morning, just did not have an answer for him tonight. AJ, last one for you. You have the Marlins unfortunately fall six to one to the Chicago Cubs scoring open in the top of the second inning on what could have been an inning ending double play. Unfortunately, just a miscommunication over at first base on the return throw and Pedro Ramirez jumped the Cubs in front. One one. Ramirez, the bouncing ball over to first. Carlos Santos, he fires to second for one return to first.

4:14No one was covering first base. So it flew right by a run comes in the score. That's just a defensive miscommunication and an RBI fielders choice for Pedro Ramirez. Plates the first run. It's one nothing Chicago top two. Now we fast forward all the way until the six thinning here because Jansen junked himself a heck of a job there. Again, he could have rolled an inning ending double play. And he tied a bow on five innings a one run ball. Jansen was outstanding tonight. Showed at Imanaga. He held serve. Imanaga works six innings plus of a one run baseball. But in the top of the six thinning, it was the walks that unfortunately did the Marlins in and the fourth of the inning played it a run. Three one from Echtness to half with the bases loaded. This is up and away from ball four. Fourth walk is sued of the inning. First three by Ralston. That one from Echtness and it brings in a run. There's two nothing Chicago in the top of the six. It wasn't a walk, but it was an advantage count for Nico Horner and he kept the turn style moving.

5:14Right. That little weight that pause kind of negates that. Three one. Horner lines one through the left side. That's in for a base hit. One going to come in the score. They're going to hold the runner pushing a third. Breggman. It's an RBI single. The line moves a different way. That was 99. The corner shot it to the left side of the infield. It's an RBI knock and it's three nothing cubs here in the top of the six. Yeah. One to three run six Ramirez again. Oh one Ramirez. Skies that one high in the air straight away center. Ruiz is coming in. It's decently shallow. Breggman will tag. He's going to try it. The throw is cut off by Dello Santos. So it was just a ground ball into the infield and it's a sacrifice fly. Breggman in from third and it's four nothing cubs in the top of the six. Now he crow Armstrong manufactured another run. He doubled. He or pardon. He at single. Then he stole second base. Then he pushed a third and then he scored in a wild pitch to make it five one or five

6:15nothing Chicago. But the fish would get on the board in a pretty eventful setting and a productive out gave them a run. That kicks away from not a run from the wrong. The second base. He's got a lot of hits on the first row Armstrong. Time to get out of nothing. Chicago here in the top of the seven. That was the PCA wild pitch. But if we do have STREW. Ruiz would love to play that RBI ground up. First pitch from Savali to Ruiz is about seeing ball up the gut. The second base. Mineramirez has got it on the backhand. He flicks on to first. That's in time to get Ruiz. But a run does come in his score. So know how to third. No nine in from third and it's an RBI 4-3 ground out for Ruiz. Fish on the board. Five one cubs in the bottom of the seventh. STREW. Ruiz again. He got the Marlins on the board. But the cubs had a counter punch to tie a ball and scoring for Michael Bush. Oh one. That one crushed out to right and deep. Michael Bush and Myers is work. That's into the top 10.

7:19He was cold. But that was a big swing from Michael Bush. His 18th home run on the year. 106 off the bat. 427 feet in the second deck. And it's six one Chicago on the top of the ninth. Would you see from the particularly against this cubs lineup that allowed him to remain so effective like he's been over his last year? Yeah, I think he and Janssen just continues to do that. He's been on a really good role. His ability to just have so many different pitches at which to go to, the ability to change speeds, move the ball around like he is. And so I mean, that's what he's been on a great run. Again, let's sign up for that start. You know, each time here on out with him to go, you know, we got through, you know,

8:22five and the one run. And so he did, certainly did his job as he has been doing here of late. And I think it's just again, he throws a ton of strikes. He's got his breaking balls. I thought we're like crisp tonight. Really good, you know, sweeper had some good bite to it. But again, it's like, you know, to use a full mix and move the ball around the zone like he does. You know, again, good pitcher that's been throwing well. That's it on the other end. Obviously, the offense did get going until the Naga was out of the game. What did you guys saw? I mean, the mixed speeds really well. I mean, you know, even like the heater of velocity is deceiving because it does. It plays up. And then you know, you pair that coming behind it with a split finger and the breaking ball thought his secondary pitches was able to strike enough of him and get some, you know, some of us to chase down below there. So, yeah, he did. He threw well and we just weren't really able to create a whole lot of traffic. We're in the early part of the game. And it's all seen in the guys' head, how to do rely on other rookies or inexperienced guys against him. Maybe we saw some of that on the, like it's not as positive side tonight with me.

9:25So, I'm just trying to do some to also be speak to the throw like trying to get the double play in home or you okay with that position or. Yeah, I think speaking first to the ground ball. Yeah, we're in, you know, we're in the first and third one out. I think, you know, that's probably, you know, looking back, if you're going to go try to go double play there, it's, you know, speed of ball, the runner and like almost like it has to be a double play. And I think the first thought is trying not to run down at the plate. And I think, you know, it's just that's probably one of those plays, you know, for Delos, like hopefully like having it happen, you know, okay, you know, in a game, you know, seeing it, you know, allowing us to, you know, coach it up, talk about it that just understanding what the priority, you know, is there. And if it's not going to be home plate, then it's, you know, one where you're for sure going to feel like you can turn the double playing it out of the inning and the base running one. And you know, you had great two strike, you know, he slashes one down the line for the double, you know, you probably a lot of adrenaline and excitement and just didn't, you know, go through the progression and think about which balls, you know, are more apt to try to,

10:26you know, advance on and I, you know, it's probably just one that, you know, talking about it during there and looking back that, you know, just not a great decision to try to go there and run into it out in front. So I think that we're always going to, you know, I said and say always, you're really like there's a, you know, having young players come up here and contribute is going, and has been and will continue to be, you know, important for us. And so I think, you know, what comes with that is there are learning curves and moments as guys get themselves adjusted. And so, you know, myself and our staff, our job is to continue to coach that because there's a, you know, there's certainly a lot of talent and I think it's a good thing. I mean, there's only a way to get real experience is to be out there and some of these things to happen. And I mean, look, we've seen the season. We've had other guys that have, you know, have done that. So I think as a whole as a group, we probably just got to continue to, you know, be a little bit more buttoned up and improve in some of those kind of areas because then you know, you see the difference, you know, when you're playing a lot of tightly contested games to

11:29make, I mean, some unnecessary, you know, outs just, you know, when it hibits your chance to win. So I think we'll just use it as, you know, a good moment for, for Daylose and for us, just to continue to, you know, help to educate and, you know, you hope it's something that guys learn from. It's a nice thing, so many of the kind of both really were struggling to find the command to find the seal level. Yeah, we haven't really, you know, seen that from Jack's, he's been up here, you know, he's been good and then tonight he just didn't really have a feel for the zone. And again, you combine that with a group of hitters over there that are already very disciplined and I think they just kind of let Jack hang himself a little bit. I think that, you know, he showed early on, he had difficulty getting some of his second areas in the zone and so I think they were just patient enough to kind of, you know, wait it out and he just, you know, didn't find it tonight. And, you know, Josh was able to come in and, you know, couple of those runs, you know, came in, but, you know, him only, you know, the one walk in the first hitter and then, at least they kind of limit it there some, but yeah, tough. It's a tough, you know, any there for us, you know, again, talking about a lot of you,

12:29not throwing strikes up here is a recipe for those kind of things to potentially happen. So again, Jack's been, you know, very solid thus far. You know, tonight was just a blip and, you know, we'll get him out there, you know, a gear here soon and, you know, bank on the fact that, you know, he'll throw like we've seen to this point. I'm impressed with it, but it's the catching. Yeah, it was. Yeah, really terrific play. I mean, you know, going back there and at that part of the ballpark where the wall starts to change a little bit and to time it up and go make that kind of play, it's a lot more fun watching him do that on highlights, other teams and to see it here. But yeah, again, really good player that made a fantastic play. So you're going to start from Jensen, junk five innings, one run ball, four punch outs and a walk here was junk post game. One up against one of the better offences in baseball and limited them to just one run. What a lot of either. Be so effective. Yeah, I think the thing that allowed me to, you know, go five innings, three heads,

13:29one run. Just filling up the zone, executing my breaking balls. I think we had a good play on going into it, just kind of scouting them out. And you know, I think we did a good job sticking to them. Yeah, I think overall, everything felt good. It was probably my lowest fastball usage. It felt like that. But you know, that was going into it that seemed like it could be, you know, possibility. And we didn't have to deviate from that. And I think we found some success there. Yeah, you mentioned the fastball usage was way, way down. Why was that the game plan going in? Obviously it meant to success. But what did you see in this lineup that allowed you to say, okay, I can execute breaking pitches at the level of the system? You know, it was just kind of, you know, doing the scoundrel port. A lot of the guys, you know, hit fastballs pretty well.

14:30And, you know, it's not like I'm not going to throw my fastball. And, you know, we're going to emphasize the change up a little bit more, I think. You know, it wasn't like brought up to me like, hey, we're going to use your change up. But we're going to rely on your change up today. But just kind of watching them, you know, after, you know, last night against the Brewers, seeing Henderson throw, I know he's a big change up guy. And I just kind of used that. I was like, okay, like, let's utilize this a little bit more. And, you know, I thought the other breaking stuff was good too. And, yeah, just overall just kept on going and didn't have to deviate from that. Yeah, I was playing off of that. It seems like obviously kind of going in. There may be weaknesses. How important was it for you to have then your stuff working? But, breaking pitch, secondary pitches, because it's what I've been not trying to maybe have been doing. Yeah, luckily we don't have to find that out.

15:37Maybe in the future. But I think, sorry, what was it? If I didn't have it, what like... Obviously, it seems like they're very good fast learning teams. Yeah. How does maybe your arsenal work or that's large enough to have different amount of pitches that you are able to do that? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I think it's just about the execution of those pitches. You know, we've been talking about that heavily of just, you know, what count is this? How are we, you know, where are we throwing it to? Is it a two-strike count? Is it an OO? You know, in those OO accounts, like we're still not throwing, you know, a get me over a pitch. Like we're still being aggressive in the zone. And I felt like I did that good with my change up, just being able to trust it. And like, still, if it was quality down rather than, you know, trying to, you know, throw

16:41a strike and leaving it up and leaving it in the damaged zone. So I think overall, just the, you know, execution part of those breaking balls helps a lot. And yeah, overall, I think the, you know, the thing of the day was the change up. I guess this last thing we so much talked about, say, the area, and I think that's probably not what you, Ryan, and Tyler have kind of been able to do roundout rotation if you speak to that. And you see during the stretch run? Yeah, I think, you know, we've all done really good. You know, I think we had a tough series and KC and dropped a few in Washington, but, you know, we're really talented, you know, from top to bottom, I think, you know, you know, just given the situation or whatever it's, you know, it, everybody knows that, you know, the third time through the order is a thing.

17:43But you can't let that get, you know, in your head of, you know, I felt like the last few time, few outings, I would kind of put too much pressure on myself. And, you know, it was good to, you know, get out of that tonight and just, you know, take it one batter at a time. It really doesn't matter, you know. You know, we're trying to win games and I think, you know, it starts with us and the tone every single week. And, you know, Tyler's been really good. Gusto's been really good too. You know, Yuri Sandy, of course. I think we're just kind of feeding off each other right now. And, you know, props to the, you know, mosques and, you know, Rob just really understanding us as pitchers, having a clear communication, you know, between starts and during, you know, any, like, send down in between any and just kind of understanding where his, his

18:43heads at, like how we're going to approach this next, you know, half. But yeah, I think, you know, as a staff, we've been doing really good recently and I think, you know, they, we do good when we're executing our pitches, filling up the zone, throwing strikes, not letting free, you know, base runners on.
