I just want to give a piece of advice for anybody out there that's thinking about doing a wedding in Texas over the span of the summer months or even into the fall.

2:18I would recommend not doing it outside. So I just want to throw it out there. I shot a wedding this weekend and it was one of the hottest weddings I've ever been to. So did you make it out unscathed? Uh, my equipment was overheating. I was overheating. And it's like, but anyway, I just went off of that free piece of advice to anybody getting married. I think that's. Sorry about I think that's smart. Today's episode. We got some advice for you. It's did by Cooper flag stock because it's only going to be going up from here. We're going to talk about the answers to our Mav's fan survey about Cooper flag ceiling and the way it's moved over the last, you know, 365 days, basically, from last year to this year. That Mav's fans have seen him. And then is that helping Mav's fans get over the lucat trade a little bit. We may have some tangible results that show that. So let's get into that. Let's start here. We issue this survey every year where we put out a, you know, some questions about the Mavericks and how you feel and all that.

3:19No, a ton of you answer it, which we, which we love. And then we take the results and we look at it. And this is one of them where what is Cooper flag ceiling? This is when we asked last year we asked this year and the response this year is this almost 70% over 70% think that he is an MVP caliber player this year that he not not for this year, but that his ceiling is a, you know, you think that he's an MVP caliber player at some point in his career. 20% say multi year first team all NBA player. So what is that 90% think that he is a mold at least a multiple team, you know, all in the first team all NBA player 8% say he's a multi time all star. And then just a little sliver, a little sliver, maybe just like a few people here and there think that he is a just a long time starter basically that he won't hit these heights that are still kind of the doubters out there. And I agree that he's an MVP caliber player. I think what we saw in his first year with just a feel the what he was able to take on as a not just rookie year player, but the youngest player in the league with all the pressure on him being put in there as the point guard early in his, you know, in his career with not a lot of help around him when he came to scoring the basketball.

4:35He had to do a lot on his own. The offense was not easy for him. And there was a lot of pressure. There's a lot of weirdness around. There was the Nico Harrison firing. There was the, you know, Jason K of it all. There was so many different things he had to deal with his first year with the Mavericks and he still came out rookie of the year, looked incredible, looked incredible and looked like he had all the tools of somebody that can when he puts it together, be an MVP caliber player. Yeah, it was the offense, some of the offensive stuff that surprised me that took it up a notch that, you know, going into, you know, obviously we lost our minds whenever they won the lottery and we did a million Cooper flag podcast going into that draft. And even after the draft and just watching every bit that you can possibly watch of him before the NBA and it's like, there are things that like you know you're going to get the effort. You know, you're going to get just the, the tenacity, the versatility. You know, like there were things about his, his game, positional versatility that you knew that you were going to get the one thing I was like, all right, I feel like the offense will take a little bit of time. And yeah, his, his outside shot, I get it. He's got to get better at that. I'm not worried about that at all.

5:47But there were, there were games early on that even though he's playing out of position was like, oh, you're already like pulling off that type of move. Like you're already like reading some things this way. And it's like some of the basketball IQ stuff that we talked to his trainer about a few weeks ago is like, how do you even like train for like basketball IQ because the way he processes the game at such a young age before even turns 20 is just absolutely insane. So it was, it wasn't until I think probably like the second half of the season, he starts having some of these go to moves or he starts pulling off some of the left handed like floater stuff. He gets, he started getting to some of his spots already as a 19 year old, they're getting two spots on the floor. And then you know, he was going for the work of the year. He puts up the 50 burger at one point. Yeah. And so it's like that level of offense. Yeah, he was an average in 30 game and all this stuff. But the level of offense that he was already at, that's what was this like, oh crap.

6:53Like you're already here like rookie year. And this is only going to get better at this point. That that's what I think set the sun, you know, the height a little even higher. Yeah. And it was the, it was like, it was his runner, his floater, like just the touch around the rim. I think there was so impressive, especially doing it with so little spacing. That he had out there like his ability, like you said, to get to spots, get to the get to the rim at times. And he did all this while you mentioned his jumper was still not the number one thing for him. He shot under 30% from three. That's definitely something he definitely needs to improve on. If he's going to hit this as an MVP caliber player, he's got to at least get to like 34% right? Didn't actually didn't SGA win. And he wasn't, he wasn't the greatest, you know, like he wasn't the greatest, you know, three point shooter at all. But got to what did he get to? He won MVP last year too. He's like, he's like 30 37 37% 38% last year. But the two years before that 34 35% in 35% as MVP number two, like runner up, like you can be an MVP level caliber player and shoot like league average on threes.

7:59He doesn't have to be this elite three point shooter. So he's just got to pull that up a little bit, but he did all this despite still not being evenly gaverge at that. Yeah, I do want to, I do want to emphasize real quick about how, how hard it is to hit the MVP caliber level of like, hey, we'll Cooper flag win an MVP one day. So I'll look back at just the MVP's of this century. So we look back at the last 26 MVP's. If you, if you look at non bigs and non primary ball handlers, how many players want an MVP? Yeah, I count him as a primary ball. You count, Yannis is a big yes. It's not, it's not many then. You're looking at three players. I'll say the little Bron count. It's a Bron Durant and Kobe. Yeah. And I mean, I guess if you want to throw Dirk in there as like a non big, but, yeah, and I say the big part because when you look at like in B. Yoke, Yannis, you know, these, these bigs at one MVP, you're talking about rebounds, you're talking about like, you're getting to the crazy double double numbers.

9:12Oh, the rebounds do matter rebounds do matter. And then the primary ball handlers, it's like, all right, well, you got it, you know, someone will have the crazy assist numbers. And it's like, you even look at the past, you know, like 10, 10 years, 10, 15 years. You either need to be scoring like over 30 points a game or you need to be average and a dang near triple double. And it's like SGA scoring over 30 a game before that's like Yoke, you know, Yoke is just one at three times, Yannis. And it's like, you're putting up some like crazy 27 28 and 10, in B. 1 at 33 and 10. So if you're like looking at it and you're like breaking it down saying, all right, MVP caliber. I think, you know, like you look at like a koai Leonard, koai Leonard has had, he is an MVP MVP caliber type of player, but he's never won an MVP. What's the path for Cooper flag to win an MVP one day? I don't know if he's going to have like close to like triple double type of numbers. I think his route is going to be the scoring route. And I think he, I unless he takes the LeBron route. And I guess, you know, I guess it could be that way.

10:20But, or he takes the, you know, Steph Curry, his first, his first MVP where he didn't have the crazy impressive numbers, three points, you know, obviously. But his team was just so good. You're like, all right, we got to give it to this guy because. Yeah, he's on the, he's on the best team and they're really good. The MVP caliber part of his interest. And because you mentioned koai, Lucas MVP caliber, right. And he's finished, he's finished third and fourth and fifth and sixth and fourth again and eighth. Those are been his finishes in MVP. It's like, that's an MVP caliber player. But he has a one it. And so I think that even even just getting up, getting up to that territory. Yeah, I think team success is going to be a big part of it because he is one of those players that may not put up godi numbers, but his team is going to win because he can do so many different things where you could build a team around him so well. Yeah. And that's exactly why I wanted to bring it up is like, I think somebody could be listening to me like, all right, MVP caliber. Do you know how hard it is when we win MVP? Yeah, I know. But you can still be an MVP caliber player and still not win MVP.

11:20Yeah, like like Durant said, it's the best thing you can win because only one player wins it every year. It's better than title. Got to share that one. Coming up. 13:57All right, Isaac, let's get into the rest of this survey. So we're talking about Cooper flag sealing and how, you know, tons of you over 70% of you think that he's an MVP caliber player that a ceiling is to get to there. Now I look at this and I want to compare it to last year. At the same time last year, where, where were people? And this is where they were 2025 you look at where people work, you know, looking at Cooper flag coming in not knowing anything like not knowing where he was because he hadn't even played any minutes yet in the NBA MVP caliber player 34% the 33% multi year, you know, first team all NBA guy 27% multi year all star. And then it was like 6% long time starter. There was a lot more doubtful. There was a lot more doubters that blue section is a little ton more doubters than there were before. But you look and see there's the majority still thought that he was going to be an MVP caliber player, but that that basically doubled over the course of of this year, which I think is pretty cool.

14:59Yeah, when doing the survey, you know, there's just a handful of these questions that we want to ask two years in a row. And this is one of them of just saying, all right, how much of an impact to Cooper flags working season play on, you know, how fan how mass fans feel about Cooper. Because obviously Cooper came in a year after some turmoil and watching a, you know, another player leave. And so it's like, all right, how do we feel about Cooper and it's crazy. That was one of the biggest takeaways for me is how big of a leap that took of going into rookie season before even watch Cooper in a mass jersey is at 34% and then to jump up to like 71% in this going into year two. He's captured the fan base. Let's say that and even looking at, you know, we're talking about sealing, you know, last year going into last year, multi year all star was at like 27%. Yeah.

15:59And then, you know, this year drops down to like eight, he percent. So it's like, you know, you go by this by the fan base and it's like, hey, if he was a multi, if he's a multi year all star to the fan base, that's probably viewed as like, man, he didn't get close to his ceiling. Disappointment. Yeah, it's a kind of like a disappointment to how mad fans are feeling. It's like because we view and I think it's correct. I'm not saying it's like, I think it's correct. I think he is that type of guy. I think he's, he's, he was that type of prospect. And why we know we were sitting there saying he's a generational type of prospect. And I'll never forget. I'll hold on to this for a while. Those first few weeks and months of the season. I'd say first month. And we're still we're calling, you know, we're saying generational and we had so many people comments and Twitter and Twitter and everything was like, host. Yeah, like what are you talking about? Like this isn't he's not generational. Look at this. And I was like, dude, I'm not worried at all. Like, and he is, he's one of those type of guys and prospects and young players. And yeah. So it's exciting to see the fan base be all in on him like this too.

17:03Yeah. And and to change it in opinion like this. And to have that like, do you think if we put a higher category than MVP caliber, you think that some people devoted for them in that one. Hall of Fame going. I mean, first ballot Hall of Famer. But I think, you know, you look at past. Let's just look like off the top right head here. I'll like other rookies over the past like few years. Like if you gave the same question to Spurs fans and said MVP caliber, the same results for Dylan Harper. I mean, I don't, I could be wrong. But I don't think Spurs fans are saying, hey, he's MVP caliber, right? Like, do you think magic fans would have said that about Palo Ben Carroll? I mean, maybe. This thing, I mean, it can't change. You have to, you have to, you have to, you have to get, you have to keep getting better. And that's one of the things that we are also confident to Cooper flag will do is get better and to continue to work on his game, work with his trainer, you know, like, you talked about on the show. So you're saying Cooper's basically Palo. That's what you're.

18:03He was a number one pick. You can compare the two. I'm hoping he's not. Charlotte's like, how can we put MVP caliber again for Khan? Did lead us to. He did. Hornets fans would say he's MVP caliber. I don't think they would. No, they wouldn't. Not even like multi year first team on B.A. It's just like a different, just a different level of player. I know. I've multi year all star. There you go. Berkahn. Yeah. I don't even know if that. Oh, come on. He'll come. He's gonna make multiple all star teams. Yeah. I think so. Okay. Conk. Canipal. Now you have me like second guessing it. I guess, right? Like, he was pretty good. Should I should I not? Is it dumb? They're like, I don't know. I just think it's hard to make it all start team. And I think that you have to be. I mean, his path is like, I'm fascinated. I'm fascinated to see how he plays without Lamello this year for the full year for all the times, not just like.

19:08Oh, he's off the court sometimes and he's all right with him off the court. Like, how about first all the starters? And it didn't matter though, Nick. It did not matter that 91% of his threes were unassisted. I that's what I'm saying. Like, who's assisting these who's assisting these threes now is my question. Then a shooter. Come on down. He'll come on down. I just don't know if he's gonna pass it back out. Who come on down the paint and shoot it? Who's the question on that? Yeah. I just I just think that this this is so fascinating to just look at these numbers and to see how much people have changed over the course of just a year. And it's it's seeing it. It's seeing his believing on some of these guys. And I think there was there was trepidation and doubt because it was such a like mana from heaven moment where like isn't that you're the you're the pastor. I'm gonna bring in your theology. Isn't the translation for the word mana like what is it? I'm like, isn't that right now? Isn't that what it means though? I'm not. I'm not the last time I did this. Somebody was like, hey, these Romans wrote this. I God bless. I'm not even.

20:16Jesus never walked down the Roman road. It's figure speech. But anyway, I can be wrong on that. But pastor is not fact checking me on that. But sometimes your gifted something you're like, what is this? Like is this? This is and it turns out to be exactly what you need. And that's what the maps got is a franchise player. They got exactly what they needed. And some apps, we're just like, I don't know if I can trust this anymore. I don't know if I can be heard again. Yeah, here we are. But yet they have an answer. And I think, you know, we're gonna talk about the Luca part in a little bit of how they're kind of inevitably tied together and how the fan base kind of feels. Because I feel like fans are kind of. I don't know. I wonder if there's like, there's like a tension between some fans of like, man, I can't fully get there with like Cooper because I'm still like holding on to like Luca. I got to be loyal to Luca. And it's like, I think you can like fully believe that yes, that was the worst trade in NBA history. And Lucas should still be a Maverick and all that, but also be so excited for Cooper flag and that like Cooper is.

21:25Yeah, the new face of the franchise and all that. So. Yeah, it's almost like that'd be like, man, I'm still loyal to Dirk can't can't be can't be a fan of Luca. Like what? Like move like move forward. Like this is this is the this is the present of your of your franchise. Yeah. Yeah. And I think I think to. Yeah. Well, we'll do an episode on the front office stuff because one of the one of the things that we asked some both years is like, how do you feel about Patrick Dumont? And you know, it was kind of pretty heavily leaning a certain way last year. Yeah. And now this year, it looks like a evenly cut pizza. You don't know what to think about. They're all. I know it's like what it's just like all these, you know, there's like a kind of like, yeah, it's just like a pizza there of all these different pieces there. And there's yeah. But yes, also yes, man, it does mean that. Thank you.

22:27The Bible knowledge came in translations. I got I got a few of those. The the maps, you know, you maps fans may have really embraced Cooper flag. That doesn't mean you're completely over the Luca trade. I don't blame you for being over for not being over the Luca trade yet. But we're starting to see more and more maps fans move on from the Luca trade. How many was about that mark? 24:29All right, I think we're talking about the fan survey we put out and the results that we got from you listening and there's some interesting ones. Maybe not more interesting than have you moved on from the look at on trade yet. We asked this one last year. We asked it this year and here are the results. If you look at have you moved on from the look at trade in 2025. This is like how many months like four or five months after the luca trade, right? Yeah, not very long 54% said no, never will be. Well, you'll never be over the the luca trade, which I get like I understand you you feeling now, for sure. Now it's down to 41%. 54% to 41%. There's a big percentage that shifted from that. I think that it is interesting. The the no, you know, no, I'm not getting over, but I'm getting more used to it in 2025 was at 25%. Now is at 27%. So some of that percentage went there that that's grown. That's grown a little bit. And then the one that's like, yeah, it's time to move on was 21% in 2025. We're hearing many of you that entire year as we're talking about that trade over and over again. And now that's 31.5%.

25:37So that's the biggest one that has jumped the most from 21% to 31% said, yeah, it's time to move on a big percentage shifted from I'll never get over the trade to, you know, it's time to move on. And I think these two ideas are connected today that this Cooper flag idea that that he has. All right, we can believe in this guy. All right, this he's the real deal. We can believe in him. All right. Now I can move forward with this. Then probably has something to do with the front office too. Yeah, I wonder and I feel like we all know the answer to this question, but that percentage isn't the exact same if they didn't get Cooper. Oh, for sure not. Imagine, imagine it may be worse. Like it may be worse if they didn't get Cooper flag. They're stuck with Nico's, you know, V word and they his plan. And they and they still have Nico's done that like running the team. I think it would be worse. I think people would be yeah, not moving on from it even more. But the moves of the maps have made bringing in Messiah, Mike Schmanz, obviously moving on from Nico Harrison and obviously getting super, super lucky. Yes, lucky in NBA.

26:43No need to look into anything there. I'm getting a getting a getting Cooper flag has allowed MassHans to move on. I think. Yeah, I'm glad you said that like other moves and stuff part because I think naturally a lot of people just go straight to the Cooper flag thing of like, all right, why was there a jump in this type of voting up 10% of a hate's time to move on and even the lowering of percentage of hell never be over this trade and now it's lowered down to, you know, what what was it? I think 41% of never, never will be. Yeah, and obviously I think some people's probably listening to saying, hey, I think I can probably be both of like I like I'll never be over the trade, but also think it's like time to move on at the same time. And I'm excited about this thing, but I'll never be over it. I think I think there's probably a lot of us that have a little bit of those feelings inside of like, I will never say that this trade was a good trade, like this trade will always be a very, very stupid trade that should have never happened.

27:47But you can also be super excited. It's like, I think it's kind of like time to move on and to embrace this, you know, the new Cooper flag era and that. But like what you're saying is like, there has been some moves there of hiring Messiah and I think that's reflected in some of the the Dumont stuff of the fans, how they feel about Dumont because yes, Dumont signed off on the Luka trade and he deserves blame for, you know, the Luka stuff and empowering Nico and all that. Yeah, he's also tried to course correct some in like some of the decisions of hiring Messiah and giving Messiah the power to bring in Mike Smith's and kind of overhauling, you know, the system with that with bringing in Dusty May and I think that is probably contribute a lot. Maybe not as the same as like Cooper because I think he could have still done all of that and they didn't win the lottery and people are like, they don't feel the exact same way, but there's been a lot of stuff that has went into, I think, how fans feel right now.

28:50I think we had also still expressed that it's still 41% of fans are like, no, like I'll never be over this trade. And probably someone will never move off that spot. Like you said, that it's still going to stay in hurt every time you see Luka in a lakeers jersey or doing anything like. Yeah, well, I mean, I feel like I literally just had a conversation with somebody just, I mean, I want to forgot how many it was earlier this year. I don't know how many months ago it was, but I remember standing where I was at in the church I work at. It was just like talking to somebody and they're like, hey, you know, how's the maps, you know, stuff coming up. We're kind of like halfway talking about it. And then they were just like casually dropped like, yeah, well, you know, man, I hope you didn't have fun this year. And you know, the podcast is good. He's like, I just never, I never came back after the trade. Like I just, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm fully done. Maybe we just lost people between between that and now. Maybe this, maybe the people that were just like, I'll never be over it. Just eventually just gave up on the Mavericks. Yeah, well, and I think there's, there's a lot of people that just, you know, I think there's some people that completely down with the maps because.

29:56You know, the Adelson's in Damaat, you know, on the maps and stuff now. Like there are multiple reasons over the past, you know, a few years that. You know, some loyal maps. The what? Don't ever let us force team again. Yeah. And it's like, you know, Dwight Powell might not be back. So that's another reason why seeing us some of that. Still an intro. I'm holding on to the end. I'm holding on to this intro with with all my might Dennis. We're doing it for you, buddy. We're holding that we're holding on to it until, until Dwight signed somewhere else where it's officially not on the Mavericks. If you had the power rank or like rank top three moments of Dennis's career in Dallas. Is that is that quote? Okay. It's the it's the dunk. It's the dunk where Jake Hall was running up and down the sidelines. Okay. Didn't he have a game winning block? Yeah, against Tobias Harris. Yeah, he had a game winning block. That was huge. The triple double right before he gets traded for porzingus. Oh, yeah. It's a probably not top three. I like his dunk.

30:58D.J. Caldwell, where DJ Caldwell, where DJ Cald showed him in a way that he made him in him. Okay. So maybe it's five. Maybe like top five moments. It's the fifth one. His quote about Dwight. All these changes still got my dog right now. So amazing. Okay. Okay. Real quick. We're the only show. We're the only sports show that has a random like role players name like in the intro. Yeah.
