You're listening to His like your path with Pastor Rod Haller Sr. Today is His devotional titled, Number Your Days. Pastor Haller will discuss how we can make the most of the time that God has given us here on earth to do His will. Psalm 90 verses 12 through 14. So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts under wisdom. Return, O Lord, how long and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. O satisfy us early with thy mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. The idea of using time wisely is addressed several times in the Scriptures. In the grand scheme of eternity, we are of vapor. As James says in chapter 4 verse 14, whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor
that appears for a little time and then banishes away. The steam or vapor over boiling water rises for a moment and it quickly disappears. This is the life of a man in light of eternity. As believers, we are to make an accounting of our time and use it wisely. The psalmist Moses asks God to help him to use his days wisely. Life is not a game. One day we will stand before God and give an account. Therefore we are to use our days to the purposes and pleasures of God. The text verses include the idea of numbering or accounting our days. As a business evaluates its resources and its plans, so believers ought to assess their resources, especially time, as they seek to use their life and time wisely for God. There
are 1,440 minutes in a day. We can use them wisely or we can waste them away on useless endeavors. If we invest them wisely, then we will be accomplished in our day. If we waste them, then they are gone forever. The time of our lives has been illustrated as money. Imagine that we are given 1,440 dollars every day to use as we wish. Any leftover money at the end of the day must be surrendered. It is gone for good. Tomorrow and every succeeding day will have its 1,440 dollars to be used. How much should we waste? Probably we would spend it or give it for things that matter. One day the 1,440 dollars will stop coming. Only what we have done for Christ
will last. If we were wise, then we would have carefully evaluated each day to ensure proper use of our money. How are you spending your days? God has given each person purpose for their life. Are you living for that purpose? Are you investing your time for that purpose? Do you even know God's purpose for your life? Some of you may be on very solid foundation in your walk with the Lord. If so, then continue your walk with Him. Some of you may not have a good plan in using your time from God. Heade the words of the Psalmist, so teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O Lord, how long? And let it repent thee concerning thy servants. Oh, satisfy us early with thy mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
