That's like an actual possibility being reported by the national media now at the lawyers.

National media and lawyers after the Trump round table saying it's time to go.

USA today reporting it's time to go.

Those two leagues separating from those four letters.

What does that mean for us?

The Big 12 and will it actually happen?

Then let's dive into Oklahoma State's transfer portal hall.

Is Drew Mestemaker the best quarterback in the Big 12?

I'm my peel and make a case for yes.

And finally, player of the year.

I don't want to talk about Agent Abanza.

I don't want to talk about BYU.

I don't want to talk about Arizona.

I want to talk about the Big 12 dropping the ball from a PR

standpoint in every way.

And Brett, you want to mark saying that Agent Abanza should be the national player of the year?

He didn't win your conference player of the year.

Brett, how does that make any sense?

And so let's break you down in its purest form.

I know you did did a show about Donald Trump and Friday's meeting of the minds

with Nick Sabin and Adam Silver and all those guys.

And how college football can change.

There are national media outlets calling for the SEC and Big 10 to leave the NCAA.

And their conferences are going to meet within the next week and talk about a plan of action.

And whether or not they actually want to stay with those four letters,

this could be colossal for the Big 12 and colossal for college athletics.

I think it would be good for the Big 12, right?

If they're going to continue this pretentiousness and then we're going to continue to act like

that they deserve to be separated from everybody else.

It eventually gets to a point, right?

We're like, okay, fine, just let it happen.

It's the same concept as one Texas to know you left.

It's like you could be mad about it.

But at some point in time, you just need to let it happen.

What a bunch of Bush league, baby back,

BS, B words that are supposed to be the head honchos of college sports,

college athletics, right?

Everybody's supposed to look up to the SEC.

But it seems to me recently, they just keep getting in their own way.

They are complicating collegiate sports.

And as I talked about on my Ken Trump save college sports show,

all of this, it's negatively affecting high school recruiting, the trick.

The high school kids are the ones that are continually getting screwed.

And without bumpers, without guardrails, it's going to continue to be this way.

And it's huge for Oklahoma State because I'm sorry, we're not going to be able to continually outbid

the Alabama's, the Miami's and the Georgia's of the world.

If they want the Nick Martins and the Allie Gordon's, eventually, they're probably going to get them.

So I think that the playing field needs to be leveled.

And if they're going to leave, they just need to do it.

Man, all of this posturing, it's insanity.

You know, the big 12 is in a position of, honestly, it sucks.

I'm in a position where we have to follow the SEC in big 10.

We can't put our junk on the table and say, we're the big dogs.

We're going to call the shots here to an extent.

You got to play nice people will ask, oh, why doesn't Brett Yoramart put his foot down?

Why doesn't he sue?

Why doesn't he sue for the Sherman anti-trust act because the big 10 of the SEC

have an advantage about the big 12?

Because dog, the second he ticks off those conferences,

you lose any opportunity to stay afloat, stay alive long term because they,

yeah, I'm not blind.

The fact they can crush you, whatever, whatever they want to.

Cody, to me means that as much as we dog the SEC,

the big 12 needs to get in bed with these folks as fast as possible.

And honestly, the best way to do it is to ostracize the ACC to push them out and say,

oh, big 10 SEC, we're all best friends.

You look at the ACC, they're the ones there, the weak link.

That's who we need to push off and destroy.

Is it feel like the ACC and big 12 need to almost split off in each other so the big 12 can succeed?

It does almost feel like you have to go in one of two ways, right?

One of the ways is you kind of join up with the ACC to do your own thing,

allow the big 10 and the SEC to continue the chaos that they, they prefer.

You could go that route or, as you mentioned, the other route is being the tagline,

dragging on to the coattails to be part of the next big party.

And I hate that, but it is where we are.

The media loves to push the SEC down our throat repeatedly for the last 15 years.

And unfortunately, Drake, it worked.

The country, people tend to forget that the big 10s won the last what?

Four national titles, three national titles.

It has not been the SEC.

They don't own stuff.

They don't run stuff anymore, but because of perception,

because of propaganda, because of things being pushed down our throat repeatedly,

we kind of don't have a choice.

We do have to grab on the coattails.

We do have to go for the ride and see where it ends up.

I will also say the irony of it is, though,

the dissolving of the NCAA, regardless of how it happens or who starts it,

it may not be a bad thing, right?

I agree that.

Look, what is the NCAA?

What is it?

Good, foe.

Absolutely doing another.

I got you.

I don't even know what they're doing here.

I don't even know what they're doing over there.

They're the figurehead who gets sued all the time.

And what do you have to pay for it?

They'll forget about that lawsuit.

The NCAA lost probably a year and a half ago.

And every school is still paying for the NCAA's lawsuit right now

to help their governing body and their institution.

My, you know, the weird part,

and I'm not sure either of us can answer it from a legal standpoint.

What it looks like to leave the NCAA.

If that's the law, years of being involved in that are far smarter than,

you know, the kids who can't read and write so good.

Which we all have here.

That's why that's why that's why you had me on the day.

Huh?

I like.

But it's correct.

Correct. Look, anybody can succeed.

It comes in all shapes of the size of success does.

Cody, if we shut this whole thing down,

am I crazy for thinking?

I really trust Cody Campbell.

I really trust that, that wing of people to save college athletics.

Because it feels like he's fighting for the right stuff.

He does. I mean, part of it's because he's a big 12 guy, right?

He's a Texas tech guy.

He played there.

He's been under the Mike Leach tree.

So it does fill a little bit closer to home.

But at the same point in time,

I can't find very many things that Cody Campbell has said that I disagree with.

He does seem to be at least at face value,

trying to do what's best for the collegiate athletes.

And the scholarship athlete thing, it's gotten so

muddy down and it's lost its purpose.

Cody Campbell does seem to be one of the few dudes that is trying to get us back to

where going to school matters, academics matters, swimming matters, tennis matters,

wrestling matters.

And the SEC seemingly doesn't give 13 hoots about any of that.

It's all about college football.

And that's the world that we all live in.

And we all revolve around it.

I get it.

But yeah, they don't, they don't care about these other sports.

And Cody Campbell does seem to be one of those few dudes that does.

Yeah.

Let's go into a more specific conversation about how NIL and the portal can work for good

in the Big 12 conference.

And Oklahoma states an example of that right now.

With Son and Drew Mestemakers, he the best quarterback in the league.

That's a good question.

Look, man, as much as we like to do do all over the transfer portal in IEL and how it's kind of

ruined college football.

There's been a school in the big 12 who's taken extreme advantage because they can because

it's because it's free and available to you on the table.

Oklahoma State with Drew Mestemaker and how this roster was rebuilt under Eric Morris.

Dog, do we have a contender on our hands?

I think we do and I actually do think that this might be the first cowboy quarterback that is a

illegitimate bonafide certified top three top five pick.

So he's got the protocol size right six foot four to 15 pounds.

He does have the capability to rush.

He had like five or six rushing touchdowns his previous season 34 passing touchdowns 4400 yards.

He was number one in the country in multiple statistical categories.

I understand he was at the G five level.

But Drake, even at the big 12 level, right?

So if you took 4400 yards, let's say in the big 12, he only throws for 3400 yards.

Yeah, that would still put him at the very top of the conference.

Everyone wants to talk about Devon Danpier coming back and no feet of coming back.

All big deals Connor Wegman coming back.

These are all big deals.

But I think that when you have someone like Jeff Christensen, the quarterback Guru,

who's worked with the Patrick Mahomes and the Baker Mayfields of the world on a daily basis,

when that guy is saying that this kid is the next Tom Brady.

I'm sorry.

I believe it secondarily.

Whenever you have the coach that found John Matier that found Cam Ward that

highly recruited Baker Mayfield.

When you have that guy and he says Drew Messoemaker is him.

I'm sorry, man.

I don't see anybody else in the big 12 that has the same capabilities as Drew Messoemaker

right here right now.

Hey, question, where the hell did Drew Messoemaker come from?

How did this happen a year ago?

This kid didn't exist.

Yeah, he was a backup.

He didn't get any varsity snaps in high school.

But so like seven on seven and go into these little camps and do some driving.

Who was his head coach?

What an idiot.

I mean, it may make the storyline even better, right?

Drake, if we're going to talk about Heisman contenders, who better than to be part of this Heisman

conversation than the kid who wasn't even quote, quote, good enough to start in high school?

I again think that that is a testament to how genius Eric Morse is.

And the fact that again, you've got this quarterback guru that is currently working with guys

like Ty Simpson and Dylan Royola.

And he's still saying Drew Messoemaker is the best of the bunch.

I got to go with the professionals that clearly have proven they have the ability to find

gyms that nobody else saw came forward. Nobody wanted him because he didn't throw the ball

because he ran like a triple option kind of attack.

Eric Morse went out of his way and he realized he had a kid can throw the ball.

Nobody's just doing the extra layers of work.

That's what Eric Morse has always done.

That's why he's gotten to the level that he has.

And that is why Drew Messoemaker's hands down unequivocally the best quarterback in the big 12.

Wow.

I see. Look there.

We've got, can I, can I rag on our guys a little bit?

You just, you just wanted to yell America real quick.

I felt that in you patriotic.

We have, look, we got some hosts to lock down.

We got some hosts, some, some big 12 family hosts who are real timid or they'll be like,

you know what?

I think we may lose this week or you know, this just isn't our week.

No, not Cody Stovall.

This guy's Oklahoma State threw and threw like I sometimes I think about I listening to your show

or with your crossovers and thinking, you know what?

Dang, man, those fans are lucky to have you.

Oklahoma State fans are lucky to have Cody Stovall to listen to every day because he's at Oklahoma State

fan. That's good. I wouldn't even, I'm pretty decent at getting people fired up.

I just need our teams to, to, to participate as well.

Yeah, I hope is a big word.

And look, I think Oklahoma State gets a revenge, which is a really crappy thing to say

against Tulsa and Murray State.

And, and look, let's, let's take Oregon, West Virginia, UCF.

I think you win two of those three and, and obviously you're going to be Tulsa and Murray State,

I think you've started off your first five year.

If Oklahoma State's four and one playing a game at Houston and a very winnable games against

Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State, this isn't an easy schedule by any means.

It's backloaded as well.

You got a pretty good shot to win eight, nine games.

If not more, if you have Tom Brady a quarterback.

Yeah, I completely agree. Everything is, is revolving around a quarterback.

And I'll tell you another thing, right?

So I get the pleasure of talking to some of the players.

And I talk to a couple dudes that have been here for five years, which we've only got a handful

of those, right? And they were saying that this is the most night and day difference.

They've ever seen in their lives that my gun, he was phenomenal at a lot of things.

But team building was not one of them.

And that has been the massive emphasis by Eric Morse and the staff is,

yeah, we want you to learn the scheme.

Yes, we want you to teach the other guys, which the North Texas guys are teaching,

you know, the younger guys and returning guys to an unprecedented level.

But the biggest thing I keep hearing repeatedly, Drake, is what they're doing off of the field

and how they've never done this before.

Like even last year, there was moments where the coaching staff would pick guys against each other.

And so they would be like bickering on the field and they would be fighting in the locker rooms.

And the coaches almost, I don't know, glorified it.

This is different. This staff wants this team to, I'm just going to say it, Drake,

they want this team to give a shit about the guy next to them because they know if they do,

they're going to play a lot harder and they're probably going to accomplish a lot more.

That is why we're exciting. The talent upgrades are great.

Having a potential Tom Brady, it's great.

Having a guy who rush for 1400 yards is all great, right?

But the team building is why I actually think this team has a chance to be special because you know,

if you do care about the guy next to you, you're going to hold on to a block two seconds longer.

You're going to pursue the ball down the field as a defensive tackle a few yards harder.

Just because you do give a crap about everybody around you and we finally have that again.

Yeah, last time we had this Drake was 2021.

Last time we had a team can I bring up and you said this off the air just the idea that

Oklahoma state since you even started hosting a Oklahoma state, it's been, it's like,

it's hard to talk about a bad team. When I host a locked on Baylor and they were three in

nine, it was brutal. This is the most hope that you felt since you even started this show.

Not even close. It's not, it's absolutely not even close. Yeah, we were talking a little bit off

air about how, you know, important it is for your football team to be good because again,

this goes back to this NCAA and will the SEC leave conversation as much as I hate it.

I love wrestling. I love baseball. I watch every millisecond of it, but at the end of the day,

if your football team is not producing, it's hard for everything to be completely functional.

And yeah, dude, it's, this is being good at football helps with revenue. It helps with

marketability, profitability. It helps with student enrollment. And I haven't got to experience

a lot of that in the last few years. Yeah, and now that I think you, you absolutely will

come and say this, this is the, the most hype and they did, it's deserved. They're doing

with Indiana, they're trying to build the Indiana way, but with, with even more established quarterback,

the first time around doing it. And that's going to make all the difference this year. Cody Stovall.

and statistically, find me a difference. Hey, man, I like this. One's better.

Cody, we live in a society where the big 12 commissioner came to a podium yesterday and said,

I think AJ DeBonza should be the player of the year in college basketball.

Cody, that's the same commissioner whose conference didn't even give a DeBonza

player of the year in the league. But instead, we gave it to a guy who scored zero points

against Colorado. By the way, I don't hate Jayden Bradley. I never, I never hated him.

Right. He's just the 13th best player in the big 12, which is still really good. And four days ago,

loved the guy. Still loved the guy. Yeah. But yes, there are two, maybe three of his teammates that

could have been above him for player definitely to for player of the he's not the best player on his

own team. And we gave him player of the year in the conference. And now our commissioner saying a

different player should be national player of the year. Cody, this is just it's not about AJ DeBonza.

It's not about BYU. It's not about it's not about Arizona or the guy who won it. This is about

the big 12 looking really silly because this is a bad optics player right now. It's insane. And

the big 12 doesn't have a lot of egg on his face. But I've say until recently, the only thing that

I had to argue about was their lack of building rivalries. But now you have this. And as you

dimension, the commissioner, the guy in charge of everybody doesn't agree with the big 12 player

of the year. That is a really weird statement. This almost reminds me of the one true champion thing

when we then refused to name one true champion and we did the code champion. So nobody got the

playoffs. This is one of those kind of moments. I honestly, Drake, I don't know how this is possible.

Like you, you're mulling your brain and you're thinking, well, maybe they ran into like a computer

algorithm. Like there's no way they watch film. There's no way what they watch the season and said

Jayden Bradley is the best. As you mentioned, he's a damn good basketball player. He's probably

going to be in the league someday. We're probably going to be cheering him on. But he is 30th in the

big 12 and point, 61st in the big 12 and rebounds. 11th and assist, 16th and field go percentage.

And his best stat is he 7th in the big 12 and 3 point percentage at 38%. So is this award?

I think this could be this would be a fun conversation on the squad show. But if we're going

off of who shoots the best three pointers, why is Anthony Roy not in this conversation,

right? He's equally as deserving as Jayden flipping Bradley. He has more points. He has more rebounds.

He has more assist. He has a better percentage. This is insanity. I love Brett Yomar. I would run

through brick walls for the big 12. But this is nuts. And I'll tell you another thing, Drake.

I don't know if you paid attention, but wrestling, the big 12 conference put out like eight tweets.

A whole wrestling tournament. The big 12 is a wrestling conference. It just is, right?

You have to embrace that. Meanwhile, the ACC, who we all know is ASS and wrestling,

they posted like 40 tweets of their conference tournament. Do you have guides like last year?

We could have capitalized on it as a conference on guys like Wyatt Hendrixson.

He was the story of wrestling nationally. And the big 12 didn't back it. They didn't support.

They didn't retweet it. I don't understand why the big 12 is lagging behind the ACC and backing

all sports. It blows my mind. So you have this ridiculous player of the year thing. You have them

refusing to back their other Olympic style sports. It's bad, man. It's a bad look.

It's a bad look. And that's where the big 12 conference. We need as many good looks as we can get.

And if our good look is, hey, look, LED screen for a court. That didn't go very well. I will

come with that on Thursday in the squad show because people were like, hey, wait a second,

it's malfunctioning and there's no half court line. Yeah, that's bad. It backfire a little bit.

There's money that we didn't need to spend. It didn't. We didn't win with that. And Cody,

another piece that the big 12 has made a couple of these moves that are question marks.

But another big piece of this, how cool would it be to mark it as a conference? Our

player of the year was the number one overall draft pick. That, you know, it just, it feels so

hollow. It's so empty now. Every, everything the league posts on social media about, hey,

look at Agent Amonza. You mean the guy that you wouldn't get played? You, I know, you know,

it's objective. He's the best player in college basketball arguably. But definitely the best player

in the big 12. It just didn't give him the award. I think it looks, it looks double bad that he's

going to be the number one overall NBA draft pick. Yet he wasn't good enough to win our conference

player of the year. It's nuts. You're right. You're missing a massive marketability moment.

That's what I'm getting at. The big 12 is swinging and completely whiffing on these big

marketability moments in a conference that is struggling to, you know, stay with the status quo,

to hang tight with the big boys. The last thing we need is to be a national laughing stock. And

that is precisely what we are. All the other conferences are pointing and laughing and saying,

look at the, look at the big 12. They don't even know who their best player is.

It's, it's, it's, it's, it's not, and I do think that it's kind of negative for recruiting.

Think of the next age A to Bonsa. Why would he go to a big 12 school? Because he could be easily

the best player in the country. He could easily be the number one overall pick. And the big 12,

the conference he's in is not going to support it or back it. It just, it's terrible, man.

Did I, I'm, it's a little incensed by little bothered by it. Did we give Kate Cunningham the

player of the year? Yeah. Yeah. Do you know why we give him player of the year?

I'd assume because he was the best player. He was the best player in college basketball.

And the no doubt, number one overall pick. Right. And Oklahoma State that year didn't,

they weren't an incredible regular season team. They weren't the number one team in the country.

I get it. Arizona's great. But this isn't a best player on the best team. And also if it was

the best player on the best team, somebody else want to want it? Yeah. You took the words right

out of my mouth. He's probably the third best player on his own team. That's what, that's what's

insane. JT Toppen could have won it. Kristen Anderson should have won. AJ DeBonza probably should have

won. If Darren Peterson plays every game, he could easily have won it. You know what I think we,

like PJ Haggerty. PJ Haggerty had better fast than in typically player of the years of stats

award anyway. I mean, it should be. And he's number two in the conference and scoring. Yeah.

Yeah. And you snubbed that guy. And so yeah, I get it. His team is losing. BYU is not losing

aggressively. They're still a good basketball. They could still go. I mean, people have kind of

crap on the take. But what I want you to know is that BYU can go to the sweet 16 the same way

Cincinnati can't if they get it. You play your first round game against Winthrop and you win

that because you're a big 12 school. And you should play your second round game against NC State.

Or hell dude, but you play your second round game against Alabama or Tennessee. I'm taking the

big 12 school in that matchup, even without a Richie Saunders or JT Toppen. I'm taking the big 12

school 100% we went like what 12 and four against the SEC and non-conference. I mean,

I'm comfortable as a league. By the way, let's talk a bit of Oklahoma state. And I know we're

recording this before the Colorado game. And I think it would take a miracle even if if Colorado

ends up losing Oklahoma state beaks Colorado. Miracles get into the tournament. What is the best

outlook for the postseason? The crown, the NIT? What's Oklahoma states next move if you had to pick?

Well, I think you're right. The only chance we have now is to probably win the whole thing.

I think it's fair to make the argument that if Oklahoma State, I think we have a reasonable

path, Drake. I really do. We play Colorado. I think we're significantly better than Colorado,

even without Parsifala. The next game is against TCU, who I know it doesn't matter if you don't win

the last minute, but we won 95% of that dag on game. We let it go at the end, but it does prove

athletically, physicality wise, we're equally as good if not better than TCU. So the first two games

that we play, I think we should win. And then you have Kansas. And I said this on my show earlier.

Out of the top seeds, I would rather be playing Kansas than Houston or Texas Tech or Arizona or

even Iowa State. So I do think that we got a reasonable path to get there, Drake. Unfortunately,

we probably have to win the whole thing to get in. And then it goes down to whether you're in the

NIT or the crown. And it's funny. You mentioned that I've been deliberating on which one I'd rather

go to. I know the crown has a financial incentive, but the NIT does still have some prestige.

It is a much bigger tournament with a lot more team. So it's more reminiscent of the incident

late tournament as opposed to the crown. It's only like eight teams. And it's just a few days,

which is a cool concept. But I think for tradition, prestige wise, I think winning the NIT would

mean more. And I think we're good enough to do that. I mean, last year, we barely got in,

Drake. And we won multiple games in the NIT tournament. Out of no, we came out of nowhere.

And so going back to the NIT in year two, is it disappointing? Yes, it is.

But if you go there, you just got to win the diagonal thing. And I think we're capable of getting

hot and doing that. Yeah. Outlook for next year too. I mean, it's hard to have an outlook,

but is it going to be, is it a portal overhaul? Is it grow up some guys? What's, what,

what does next year look like? I'm hearing. So we're going to invest like 10 mil next year and

basketball in IL for whatever reason. I don't know. So if that is accurate, guys like Kanye

Cleary should be here. Ben on meds should be staying. You get, I'm Jalen Montennaughty,

the number one player in Oklahoma. You also get La Trelle Allman, who's the McDonald's All American.

You have a top 10 recruiting class coming in. You've got a ton of freshmen that will be soft

more now. Next year should be fun. Next year, Drake, if we're not top eight in the big 12,

there might be heads rolling for Steve Lutz because he's brought in the roster. He's got the guys.

He's got the donors to uptick their contributions, but the one thing he's yet to do is win

enough games to get the fans back in the stands. And that's a must year. And next year, it's his

recruits. It's his top 10 class. It's his second year transfer, guys. He should be a very good coach
