Well, man doing well just coming off my birthday weekend four days off feeling good. So all good Look at you that had to be good a four day weekend birthday. Yeah great pretty nice pretty nice What's the number if you don't mind me asking? 62 just turned 62 Well keep trying to catch me. I don't think you will I have to apologize to the audience because we're being a little repetitive today We just talked to Ricky Horton about this about half an hour ago, but it's such an interesting story and If I'm gonna ask anyone I have to ask got Terry

1:01How the whole ring cone um tilted hat thing hit you typical of of the day of Certain umpires certain things that go on in baseball, you know Some of these guys are great and the majority of them are great But you give somebody some of power some authority and sometimes they kind of they kind of take it and run with it And I think obviously this this umpire has a reputation and so didn't surprise me What he did and it didn't surprise me that the the antics as they played out throughout the course of the game I mean I for me the first thing I noticed Before it all happened was the was the replay call at third base when he came back on and he said the call has been confirmed Like how dare you question me and what's wrong with you guys to think that that would be overturned so You know sometimes things aren't good between certain teams and certain umpires and it gets stoked and it gets played out and

2:04Things happen through the course of the year and and you can see That there is a little bit of bias Yes, it's a frustrating thing to a degree Scott because you're right It felt like something was off way before the hat thing and way before the blown call at home played in the ejection And all that stuff and that's where I wonder why we and I don't know how this I don't I don't think it's probably ever been any different But this is where I think major league baseball needs to step in in a public way And make it be known this guy's getting two games off unpaid because of the way he was conducting himself Because you can't have people wondering if there's bias and that came across whether there was or wasn't in his calls That looked like he had a grudge Well, you know a player gets suspended because of his conduct on the field He did something during the course of a game that merited that suspension and umpire does the same thing He should get the same treatment and it should be handled in the certain same way So why have things always been different in that regard? I don't know, you know, I don't know it's it's it's it's difficult for a player

3:08Because you always feel like well the umpires aren't policed They don't have to answer for what they do, but yet they can make or break me on a given day And that makes it frustrating for a player So I've always wondered this so not not even this in particular Is then because it was kind of a weird one But in general players fight with umbs managers definitely fight with umbs and with John Boyne stuff We now know what they say and it's a lot of MF your mother and things like that Like I've always wondered how you just walk back out there the next day with your lineup card Be like hey Larry how you doing man like Do they does everyone just know that's part of the game or are there apologies like how's it work? Uh, you have to you don't really have a choice because if you carry it with you the next day or the next game Then it's it's just going to come back and bite you Uh, I had a guy in triple A when I was in Denver and Denver is a tough place to pitch because You can lose a game in a heartbeat there with the way the ball flies

4:09And I had a guy and I threw a two-two slider to a to a guy That was strike three the batter started walking off the catcher rolled the ball out The inf everybody was moving and the umpire said ball And it was like oh my gosh, you know, and I at the time I can't let that affect me because now it's three two I still need to throw another pitch Well, I threw two or three more pitches. He fouled them off he fouled them off he fouled them off he ended up hitting the two run homer So the next thing you know I go from leading the game to losing the game And I'm walking off the field and once again the umpires over on the third baseline I'm walking towards the third base dugout and you can't let people see uh, you know that you're talking to him because you don't want to show him up and so when I left the mound I'd started talking to him. I forget what his name was But I was calling by his first name and I said just tell me you missed the two two call That's all you got to do is just tell me I don't expect you to be perfect. We all make mistakes You know, just let me know that you missed the call and he kept saying no Scott. I didn't miss it

5:12No, Scott. I didn't miss it. And I said well you've got until I get to the dugout steps to tell me that you missed it And if you don't tell me then I'm gonna walk to the end of the dugout and I'm gonna be right back out here Well, I said no Scott. I didn't I didn't miss it. So I walked into the dugout. I put my glove down I took my hat off put it on my glove and I ran out of the end far into the dugout and ran up and just got right in his face and we just had a nice little conversation And I'm just yelling stuff and my manager comes out to try to get between me and him and I took my manager And I just threw him off to the side what I didn't know is I threw him on the ground. Oh But that was the one time in my career where I just lost it Even though I was still in control I lost it and I just went off on this dude and and finally after I had my say I went in the dugout and I threw every helmet out of the dugout And they were all spinning at home played around his feet And then in Denver back in those days we were playing in mile high the door to our clubhouse was in right field and it was on the field

6:19So when I got kicked out and I left the third base dugout it must have taken me 10 minutes to get to that door Man that sucks But it was just I lost the game on one call Well, you can you know you can say well you gave up a pitch that he hit out you can say all this stuff You know, it's like the 85 world series when the injury made the call they can say well you had two more games Or you had another game or you had the rest of that yeah, but still you can't get it back But you know, I never had a problem with the guy after that when I came out the next day it was what it was It it lingers inside of you. It is there. It will hang over you. It will hang over the team It will hang over that umpire Everybody will know when he's on the field that you got to be careful. There's might be an issue I mean, I know you know, it's just that way So I don't think I've ever yelled at anyone like that. Did I feel pretty good? It was awesome

7:19Back in those days, uh, I dipped snuff so he was wearing it He got the he got the wearing some snuff. I don't know if he like school or not, but he got him a face full And uh, yeah, I said things that I didn't think I had in me to say But boy, they just came spew and out and it was like and then after it was all done You know, I'm just You're just you know, you're just so bent up. You're so bent up because You know, baseball people say well, it's just a game. Well, no, it's not just the game. It's my livelihood This is my job This is I've put a full year into it. You know when you play that six-month season Everybody forgets about the six months leading up to that season and it's just there's so much on the line and so much at stake That boy when it erupts uh, it heads up Yeah, I think you know, I think if you just want to explain it's got if if it's your own job And somebody is screwing it up by not doing their job well I bet you get the same kind of anger now in an office. You can't go scream at people

8:21But that's a little different on a ball field, but it's the same idea And you know what rang to me with this guy that happened there in Denver with the edding is he said you're not gonna Dress or where you're hat that way on my field Yeah, and as soon as he said my field boy I had a whole bunch of memories come back because you question an empire and it's his strike zone right there's a rule book There's a rule book to govern what we do how we play what we call what's Being done and the rule book states very clearly what the strike zone is but yet they will tell you this is my strike zone Joe West told me one night Scott you're not getting that strike tonight Oh Excuse me Joe, but you just said it was a strike. Yeah, you know, so and and we had a lot of Stuff going on back in the day, you know because if you were a rookie boy that zone was tied if Peep rose was up there was an even a zone. There was a keyhole

9:22Mike spent you know and it mattered who was hitting and it mattered who was pitching and it mattered who the umpire was But yet you had a rule book that says this is the strike zone Yeah, that's it. That's it. I was that was where I was going to go next got because to me This ties the two things together the way it's always been, you know with the individualized strike zone It's a different strike zone for Greg Maddox than it was for Rick Ankeel or whatever But like this is also a case where this man dug headings admitted after the game But oh yeah, yeah, yeah, CC Sebastian used to wear his hat like that all the time Well, you didn't say anything to the Hall of Famer, but you're gonna pick on the rookie Like that to me is where it really gets weird and the same thing with what you're talking about how the strike zone used to be variable I thought we were trying to get rid of that stuff Yeah, and of course they have been able to do most of that with the strike zone obviously with the system that they have now But to be able to take care of the rest of it and you know with a challenge And now all the sudden you know that helps

10:23But you know the play later in the game the other day with the guy at home plate Which was obvious that he was out because his hand that was leading to home plate is what got stuck on the glove with the ball in it It was very obvious that he was out, but yet he calls him safe now because you don't have a challenge That's where you say oh, okay, and and I can guarantee you I won't use any names and you know if you want to say I'm wrong That's fine. I can tell you over the years. I saw umpire stick it to people I really did that and and when you stick it to somebody it's intentional Interesting now. I'm not I'm not saying what the guy did yesterday or the other day was intentional I'm just saying I witnessed it I saw it because I was in uniform and back in those days it was a whole lot different Then it is now where you had to kind of like earlier stripes sort of speak. Yeah um You know my first start was in rigley field

11:24With the wind blowing out and Bruce Frimming was the umpire and I was a rookie and that did not go well and I I Guarantee you that zone was skim tie. I mean it was just keyhole I I don't know how many pitches I threw that I thought were strikes, but he called them balls And the next thing I know after three innings and I've given up nine runs. I'm going Hmm now I can say okay. I threw every pitch, but I can also say If if I'm getting squeezed that rigley field with the wind blowing out, it's not going to be a good day And nope not at all. 12:25This year Halloween night is when we turn the clocks back. They can't be right right I don't know. Let's look it up When does it be kind of cool? Halloween's on a weekend. Yeah, that's pretty cool Also I can't believe this isn't a bigger story, but I read this morning that there's evidence that Benjamin Netanyahu was given in very specific warning about October 7th But he didn't share it with his military So that's gonna be a thing also a run has captured an unmanned US submarine uh near the straight of four moves And the Pentagon has confirmed saying there was a malfunction with one of our underwater drones

I know you're ready for this sure We're in a real solid tropical air mass does not happen very often. We're 99 today damn Yeah, and it's and it's like the you mid dupe point is like 73 It's really gross. You know it's really gross, but funny say the name because I had Avalan kennelina island because of feed and It was always 60 to 70 and today and just having to look at it. It was like 86 and i'm like well that seems weird So that is weird. It's very weird. The surface been 7 to 10 feet It has really pounded like malibu Uh, realm Los Angeles coast of Los Angeles. Yeah, uh, we've had you know a lot of beach erosion A lot of the waves have gotten into homes right along the coast I mean the up like two through three three feet. Yeah, and it just keeps pounding and pounding

18:45It goes it really starts to melt away late really tonight and then it comes down for about two weeks Is this a tropical is this a tropical a lot of surfers or no surfers Very few It's the guys and women Who it's a two-phase thing? It's it's guys who really know what they're doing And maybe still should be out there, but they are and then there's guys who Should be out there and they really know what to do. Gotcha, but it's it's pretty intense and it's and it's a little bit different It's like one set will come in and it might be 10 feet And then it calms down to like three or four feet for about 10 minutes and then all of a sudden just just like Here comes another 10 footer So you really have to pay attention and and they're there what we call these sneaker waves that kind of come out of nowhere And they can be instead of right along. Let's say at a normal point on the coast all the sudden they're like 10 feet inland And they're still a wave and and it takes away people all the time who I still be hit

19:51A Hawaii got hit pretty good. I haven't seen any video coming out of there yet But knee how which is is solely a Hawaiian island? It's where where locals only live a native Hawaiians and then Kauai So you have Kauai and then knee how it's right next to that those two islands got hit really hard I think overnight last night and into this morning heavy rains Really throughout the island change, but it's pulling away now that system low is pulling away. That's good Could have been a lot, lot worse Okay, and we're still looking at a couple more days, right? Yeah, but it's not too bad I mean we're 90-192 right now the dew points about 60 So yeah temperatures are up a little bit, but the humidity's not too too bad It kind of creeps up on us as we go through the overnight and into tomorrow, but a cool front's on the way This one's a little stronger and and that means that it'll probably come through Let's say about two three o'clock tomorrow afternoon wins will turn to the northwest Might be a couple of spotty thunderstorms ahead of that front

25:05Um, okay, scientists think that clues about aliens may lie on the moon So they want to do a test on different dust particles because they think that Dust could have drifted across space and settled into the lunar surface. Oh, so they're doing this testing and they're like if we can find one spec of Just like genuine alien dust. Mm-hmm. It would just rewrite our understanding of life in the universe Well, it's ours so we can the moons are yes. Yeah, yeah, it's our dust. I mean we are the only people to bend there Um, I feel so bad for the family of dolly parton right now because they say that fake a.i. AI garbage is making the singer's death even more painful There's a wave of AI generated songs images videos and they say it's challenging to absorb and shows a lack of compassion towards grieving families

26:08I mean just maybe take a second and think if your loved one passed away And then someone was just using their image Making them even if it's you're not making them do something negative But you're just making them do things they didn't actually do and without their permission Right, I mean the whole thing is just very messed up and even if that wouldn't bother you Even if for some reason that wouldn't bother you Kedya, maybe just find it in your heart to understand why it would bother others I wonder what the diagnosis of that is because I have certainly Done things wrong. I've certainly let people down. I've hurt people's feelings But I've never truly never in my life sat down and thought What can I do the twirling mean, you know, well clearly these people do well It's not even necessarily that they're making negative content about dolly. It's more they look at the The situation and they say this is an opportunity for me to make money right So even if it's not like disparaging her

I just wanted to correct the folks One more story for you guys the TSA is launching a program allowing non-travelers Security in some airports saw that it's called gate side by TSA precheck So if you are an eligible TSA precheck member you could Enter the secure area of participating airports to meet or see off friends and family at their gates remember that Dave Oh, that happened all the time. Yeah, I mean You didn't even think about it. Nope coming to our going. Yeah. No, I got home when I went to Sydney for the 2000 Olympics come home get off the plane and there's my wife and daughter waiting You know, the kid comes running up to you at the gate. Yeah, I mean, I think the the added layer of well They have TSA precheck they don't have a boarding pass, but they've at least been through this screening process That maybe makes people feel I don't know if they've done it yet, but I had heard that They were Talking about getting rid of the 3.4 ounces thing they had been talking about that at least while well Kristi known was was running things which that's been a while now, so I don't know if that's been tabled or what yeah I Did I've never I've never understood the whole thing Like the only way we're gonna get attacked again is by the same method that was used before Probably gonna be something else I don't know Yeah, I guess we're gonna overreact but I get it but yeah, that's what we're saying. 30:14But the issue the real issue is that uh wife and I is still relatively young not young, but you know relatively young and when you Buy like you know When you live in like a house that appreciates over time or at least it would ideally if you're taking good care of it or whatever But RV that's going to depreciate instantly like the second that you get into that thing It's going to drop you know 60-70% of what you already paid which is you know Which it would be used so lower even than that and then it's just going to depreciate further and further and further and further and further down and When the time comes to move from that which we would presumably have to in the next you know 50 60 years whatever then You know you know whatever you invested in it basically is going to just go away In a puff of smoke instead of being returned in any fashion, you know what I mean so um While I do still think it sounds very fun Uh definitely do not

31:15I think it's probably the best idea for somebody who's you know who is more excited newer Megan Uh, well it was my idea first and I talked and she was very against it and then she came around like very very came around to thinking that it would be A very good idea, but the more we thought about it the more we were like no actually maybe maybe not So we're all a little weekend. It's like you don't you have to like empty the sewage and stuff Yeah, that was the before we thought about the like Yeah Because in any out in front of Dave's house before we thought about like the actual practical logistics of like You know looking forward with financially into our future It was absolutely the poop thing that was the number one Usually is
