Oh, nobody's happy. It's the 94 WIP afternoon show. With Ike spike and Fritz, the Philly stink, but at least it's warm outside. Ike, how you feeling, brother? Yeah. Yeah, brother spike. 13 to come on, man. Oh, God. Yeah, yeah, not good. No, not good. With expecting a better effort last night from the boys, that was totally disheartening and disappointing to have to sit through and watch. That being said, we do have some things I will be excited to get into today that I'm excited to talk about with you guys today. So I'll let you roll out the show Jackie baseball. Listen, I know you're hanging on my thread. It's early. It's early. We grow some Armadillo skin or that shell. What is that? No, why? Yeah, I think they have a shell. I think they have a shell. And I think they also have thick skin. Okay. Yeah. Point

well taken. Yeah. Grow some. All right. How much more? Yeah, everyone's got to sack up. But I also am excited for the most notable and biggest Michigan state alum to ever play in the city of Philadelphia tonight. That's quarter of my tone. He's not appreciated. No, he doesn't. Fun little night we got. Fun little night. Fun little night. It was not ruined. No. Well, yeah, it'll be ruined by at least one of them. So it is a big show as it always fun little show. Elliott joins us from the owner's meetings in Arizona at three o'clock. Broads will join us for a special Tuesday edition of Broads at four thirty. You know it's big. We bring him broads in a day. Well, we might make the playoffs. We got a March tone debut in tonight. But we have to start with the team that has made the last three days of my life completely miserable. And that is the Philadelphia Phillies. We all the caveats, right? Only four games and yeah,

yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't tell me. You watch that team last night and you saw a team that looked ready to play baseball. That is that is like sort of the headline for me is the team does not look ready to play baseball. And I think they're all giving each other signs that they're not totally ready to play baseball starting with. And when I say the top, I'll mean two things. I mean Rob Thompson and I mean the top three guys in the lineup. So Rob Thompson, I do not like the message he sends by sitting Crawford the fourth game of the year. The guy is 22 years old. They've given him the center field position. We all know that Brandon Marsh and we found out very quickly that Brandon Marsh, while a good left fielder, is not a good center fielder. And I like, I think he is signaling these games aren't a big deal. And I know it is a marathon and I know it's long and you got to get guys off their feet. But I think that sends the wrong message. Now when I say from the top, the other thing that I want to talk about is the top three guys in the lineup who do not look prepared to play. Kyle Schwarber looks like he's enjoying every dollar of his new $150 million. Bryce Harper is still is, I'm sorry, the guy

looks lost. Whether he is trying to prove something to himself, whether he's trying to prove something to us, whether he's trying to prove something to Dave Dumbbrowski, whether maybe he just isn't the same guy anymore. The top three guys in the lineup are hitting 120 over the first four games with a 385R OPS. They have two RBIs and 17 strikeouts. 17 strikeouts. And those three guys came up to bat last night with, I know the game's 92, but it's not, you're not playing the 27 Yankees or something. That is a game that I'm sorry. You should still think you should have your head in the game. They come up with two on, nobody out. And what do we get? Fly out to center, strike out, and then whatever the, and then whatever Bryce did out, out, out. They've come up in many, many opportunities, many, many good opportunities. I think that the team left 11 guys on base or over 11 with guys in scoring position. And I'm sorry, this is a top heavy lineup. And if it's a top heavy lineup, the top has to produce and they're not producing. And we get so, we got so much

of this in 2023 is like, oh, it's a long season. Oh, it's a long season. We know things will work out. Well, somebody has to realize that these games matter. And I don't know what the phrase is. I don't know if you, you know, you can't win the division in March or April, but you can certainly lose it in March or April. Ben Franklin said that. Oh, yeah, Ben Franklin, right? And I, I just think that there is a, a worry that they could look up at some point on May 3rd and say, wait a minute, how did we get seven games behind the mats? Or how do we get seven games behind the braze? And that, and that, that not ready to play. It's all over the place too. I've never seen a Mundo Sosa have as many mental errors in a game as he had last night, you know? And, and then the, the whole getting thrown out in the first inning and nobody knows what the rules are. We can talk it ABS later, but it just, it doesn't feel like the team is ready to play baseball. It feels like they don't know that the season started. And it's not just these two guys, but that when, when Trey Turner came into the season, having played in the world baseball classic, it took him until

August with a standing ovation to get his season back on. And Schwerber played in the world baseball classic and Harper played in the world base. I think Schwerber has eight strikeouts in four games. Yeah. Like I, I'm sorry, man. This is a team that they should be getting right against. And that is a 30 year old pitcher that hasn't been in baseball for two years. Yeah. Last night that made them look stupid. I just as Jack predicted, they just got to wake up, man. I know it's not the end of the world. I know it's four games. But these things sneak up on you if you don't turn them around and they have to, they have to look like they, they're ready to play. Listen, I, I, good job by you. I think articulating the frustration that's, that lies within you. I think also expresses how a lot of fans feel today. Yes. They do. And we all know it certainly. We all know it's early. I'm not giving up on the season. I'm not giving up on these guys. I know that's not what you're saying either. And it doesn't eliminate the frustration that we watch through the first four games. Despite what happened in the first game of the season.

Right. So I, I get that. And I hope they're handed and they do need to get their heads out of their butts. They, they, they, they, they really do. And you know, I don't know. I can't put my finger on exactly what the issue is. It's not just one thing. It's a little bit of everything. You know, other than Christopher Sanchez pitching on opening day, I don't think I've been impressed by anything or encouraged by much. I mean, you know, Crawford got a couple hits. That, that's been cool. But other than that, I, I don't think I've been impressed by anything the baseball team has done. Well, and last night, I would, I would love, I would love to come in here and say Taiwan Walker stinks. The Taiwan Walker was fine last night. The, the guys behind him didn't do them any favors. Yeah. We've certainly seen games where guys were, we're hitting both 300 miles an hour for 600 feet off a Taiwan Walker. That wasn't that last night. There were opportunities that that defense could have given him. If they were, you know, Brandon Marsh is not taking the wrong step toward a flyball of it. No, Sosa is just getting it out at first. If they're locked in, they just don't look locked into me. And, and to me, that falls on the manager. Obviously, it's the players because these guys

are veterans and they know how to get themselves ready to go. But this, if there's only so many things a manager can do, having your team ready to go at the beginning of a game is something that is, is his task. It just is. It's a, he sets the line up. You, you, you sort of put a feel out there. But having your guys fundamentally ready to go and locked in is something that's on Rob Thompson's plate. That doesn't excuse the players for the way that they play the hitters. Their approach, you know, defense, Bryce, there's a playing first base. You got to make that catch like there's things. There's this silly stuff that's going on. There shouldn't be going on that is very evident of a team that isn't necessarily downed in the way that they should be downed in. Two on five five nine two ninety four ninety four. And real quick. Yeah. Again, outside of Sanchez, the pitching hasn't really helped. I'm not saying it's his shoes. Nola Saturday. Yep. Lazardo Sunday. And then you come back with Taiwan yesterday. Yes. But this pitching is not

then what it's supposed to be either has not done the many favors. And the last thing on Thompson. And this is not me calling for his head or anything like that. But when you have the same, and this is something that we talked about after they lost the Met series, is that when you have the same roster every year, and it doesn't do anything like, and you know, you're not changing the energy that way. Again, I think Rob Thompson's a good manager and did a great job last year. However, you do wonder if these mental error things happen. If there's some sort of, you know, taskmaster, you know, angry, you know, hot head manager. Yeah, they hire Buck Shoal through whatever the hell old guy you talk about that was in their spring training that makes them do the little league stuff that they seem to never remember to do. You know, where to go with the ball if this gets the thing. I played little league, you know, the same things that the coach would go through. Okay, if the ball gets hit here, what are you going to do? There's one out. The ball gets hit here, what are you going to do? There's no outs. It doesn't seem like like they go through those

things or when when they have those opportunities, they're not, they're not making the right decision. Okay, we do have a next question today. Is we have two big debuts and Philadelphia sports today. Of course, we have Andrew Painter, who's the city, the city's fortunes rest on his shoulders tonight. Andrew Painter will make his debut for the Phillies and Porter Marton will make his debut for the Philadelphia Flyers. So for next question today, you'll give us your sports point. We're going to look for a famous debut. Could be sports. Could be music. Could be movies. Could be TV. A famous debut. Jack, why don't you give us a famous debut? So the one that came in mind, yes, keeping in the spirit of big name prospects, hopefully live up to the hype. This guy didn't but down Brown's first game. It was exciting. Dude, he smoked the ball off the wall in his first that ballot 120 miles an hour. We were like, we're back. I remember how excited people were because I think they have the Don Brown shursies in the team store that day because everyone to buy their Don Brown stuff.

Untouchable. Can't train for Roy Halliday. He's the guy that's going to carry us through the the rest of the, you know, the downswing with Howard and Utley and Bang. He did have a great two months in third and third. That was a famous debut. It was. It was a big debut. It was a I was here. It was. For us. Yes. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Well, not in the world. That's what I thought together. That's what I thought he was going. He went Don Brown. Well, no, he was. Who's more famous? Him or the Queen? You got a famous debut? Of course I do. More famous than Don Brown. Way more famous than Don Brown. But I'll tell you this. Probably not a good time to bring this guy up. He's the news lately. But I got to go with the great Tiger Woods man in 1996. Good timing. I just said. Perfect. Perfect time. Not the news for anything. He opened in 1996, man. Okay. That was a much anticipated debut. Well, he was a sensation. Yes. You know, but the Tiger Woods thing was a huge deal. So I am going movies with my famous

debut. I am going. It was the first one that popped into my head. I just went with the first one. It was Natalie Portman in the professional. I think she was 16 years old. I'd be worse than Don Brown. Big answer. Big answer. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You guys are worse than Don Brown. Terrible answer. It is not an absolutely incredible movie. And she's had a huge career. Incredible movie. You've never heard of it. What's called the postman? No. You've never seen the professional. I'm not a hitman. Oh, come on man. She was 16. It's 15 or 16. Yeah. Come on. But I'm not saying like, oh, how hot she was. I'm saying it was a big debut. Wow. It was a big debut. I don't know if I'm Brown's debut. More than I do. Natalie Portman. No, it was a big debut. I don't know. I'm moving the professional. I do. I can tell him it was a big debut. And friends. Two one five five nine two nine four nine four talking. Phil started moving with. It was some French guy. There was no actor.

No, no, no, no. Gary Oldman was in it. I believe as well. I think he's in that. Jean Reno. Yes. Everyone knows him. I'm telling you everybody knows that movie, Jack. I disagree. I'm sorry. Go watch the hangover again. It's a good foot. That's Bradley Cooper's debut. Yeah. No, it's not just debut. Wedding crashes is debut, right? There's no way that was his first movie. Bradley Cooper. That was his. Yes. No. There's a difference between debut and his like coming out. Yeah. That was his big eye. I agree. Okay. Was what was silver lining before that? So it was Furt now. I was after it. Apparently his first film role was Wet Hot American Summer. No, I don't know that one. And he had a role in Sex and the City. Like, there you go. I don't remember. Sex and the City guy. I was. Yes. All right, two of five, five, nine, two, ninety four, ninety four, talking about them. Although it's not one of the many series that I rewatch, I've never rewatched Sex and the City. You've never seen an episode, actually. But I've never seen, I've never seen an episode

of the Sprite. Oh, yeah. Sex and the City was, that was a, that was a thing for a while. It was a big thing. Oh, yeah. Now, when the movie came out, did you get some red wine, dark chocolate? No. You just did some high heels. Maybe you're a little bad that day. I think I see the red wine and the dark chocolate. Okay. What I mean. Hell yeah. Got a little frisky. Yeah, raw dog. Yep. All right. Cory had come up this year on WIP. What's up, Cory? Amen. I'm overreacting. Listen to it. Fine. I can tell me. Doc can tell me a hundred and fifty nine. Yeah. I don't even know. I don't get the eight now. Two look terrible. Yeah. Like it's like, first of all, they act like, they act, this team act like they won something. Like it's like, they act like they've won before. Like the way they care. Who's the hidden coach? Uh-uh. Tell them all. Yeah. Get this dude up out of here because they too close. They too buddy buddy. I don't know who a swarper or Harper. You got to go. Remember how Vince was with, with, with the, with the, that Taylor's brother, press Taylor. Oh, yeah. Get that dude up out of here because they too close.

They something is not clicking. Y'all going to get to manage your fire. Listen. These guys. Y'all love topper. Y'all love his hair. You're going to get this brother fire because y'all cannot play. Bryce can't catch balls that first day. Brandon Marsh didn't jump out. He trade for him. Yes. He said that's one of his best moves. Yes. No, it's not. That's one of your worst moves. I like Brandon Marsh. When he first got here, this dude can't play center field. No, he's the left. He can't play. Yes. And let's do. He can't play anything. I don't, I don't know. They put tuning guys him and Kim. Like, I know it's early. And it's overreaction. All these guys go come here. It's a long season. I don't want to hear none of that. These dudes are terrible in the pitch and staff. Elliott. See? Jack. That's why Jack was hot because he was nervous. Elliott might have been right. Elliott told us I get nervous when these guys have great seasons and they got to follow it up like the Eagles. So Christopher Sanchez, he did his job. Hey, Susan was harder. We don't give you a whole bag of money. Please don't rob us. I hope you didn't rob us.

Andrew Painter. Look, Jack done told us for a long time. You brought me the greatest coming ever. Listen, you got an opportunity because Noah. He is cool. Let's do it. Let's do it. Come on. Give us something to be happy about tonight. Andrew Painter. You know, say do something. They do well. Please don't go out there and just continue to trend because I'm going to be counting down today. We got to put a countdown card. Someone's that will to come back. Because I need to the watch international thing. They they want to be the easy W series. They want to be a easy W the bottom 12 is better in L.E. And they they whooping us. Oh, they're best players. James. James Wood. James Wood. John Wood. John Wood. James Wood. Whoever. You know what I'm saying? Actually, good after two James Wood. James Wood. What's wrong with you? You know, court and court. Here's the thing. You said you said that people are going to say it's the long season. And they're right, right? All that stuff's right. But if this were the other way around and they were three in one

and they had the best run differential in baseball instead of the worst run differential in baseball, we would all be really excited. So we was excited. Right. We was excited after Thursday. We would say we were going through the world series. So well, yeah, we will be excited. We thought we would have to do that for our day show. It's been deleted. The Friday show. We have to do that Friday show. We overreacted. Yeah, what happened to that show? Exactly. And it's like no, no, no, no, no, no. We ain't giving Taiwan walking over past. This dude is terrible. I'm tired of y'all cut. Y'all cut cast the honors. I did it. I'm not the baseball fish. You know, I don't know the salary cap. Get this dude off my team. I haven't even seen a dude pitch. This dude is terrible. How many times I know you all week? We know he's bad. Blah, blah, blah. If we know he's bad, stop putting him out there. I don't care who do a do a bull pain game. Do something. These dudes like, what are we doing?

And we're supposed to be excited. Remember that? Remember you said there's going to be the year of the 2026. Take that back. No, it was overreaction Friday. I'm allowed to. I'm allowed to. I said, what's a good idea to run it back? Hey, are we not running? No, no, no. I was reminded. Yeah, I was reminded yesterday. These top three. These top three can't hit Ohio legends. It's kind of swabber. Don't make me regret giving you that money. You should have went to the red now. We gave you this big money bag. And you gave us one home run. Just like you gave us. It's like when you were a kid. And your mom said, oh, can I have some dessert? She can give you a Hershey kiss. I don't want that. I want more than Hershey kiss for no dessert. Exactly. I do have a nickname for Kyle Schwarber. I start calling them mayor to myself because he's front because he's the shaken hands with everybody. Yeah, you know, that's the man. He's the man. We have the showman and the man. He might be the bank robber. You know what I'm saying? It might be the bank robber. Relax. Relax.

Relax. Relax. Relax. No, don't relax. Don't relax. I'm a fan. I'm a fan. We don't have a slander, guys. That's what I'm going to do with this. I want no Ohio legends. I can't. If I do you the praise, I give you a critique too. Well, that's not true. That's my guy. All right. That's fair. That's fair. Do you have a, do you have a famous debut for us today? Yeah. I got you a famous debut. We can't play the nationals with Steven Strothberg. Everybody hyped that dude up on the first day. That's a good day, dude. Seven days struck out versus the versus the pirates. Yeah, I need, I need Andrew Piner. I need you to be Steven Strothberg tonight. No, I pitch us the contact. All right. Thank you. Oh, Lord. Yeah, don't worry. Pitch us the contact. That's it. I'm so I look of all the people to be mad out right now. Yeah, I'm sorry. Taiwan is not on my list. That guy when he gets hit around, they leave him in there. He still throws a hundred pitches over it. Taiwan used to be a guy that was in the center

of the things that I didn't like. And he actually, I thought it was a good teammate last year. I thought it was a good job last year. And last night, I thought the guys behind, he had some bad luck and I thought the guys behind him let him down. I really, I thought Mars let him down. So to let him down, the guys behind him let him down. I think, I think, I think, I think Rob Thompson let him down. I think Rob Thompson let him down by not having the best lineup he could have last night. And that would have been leave Crawford in center field. The guys 22 years old will get them off his feet for a game. What are we doing? And we're putting Mars in center field. Well, and he's the last guy to be getting taken off his feet. He should play 165 games. I'm exactly. They should, they should send him on an off day. They should send him down to the miners play another game. He's young. He's going to be old at some point. I promise. He's the youngest guy on the team by far. I promise it'll suck once he's old, but he's not. He's the plenty old guys. He's not an old guy. And the Steven Strasbourg debut was a huge one. It was, it was big. Yeah, I mean, that was really, really, really big. And was that the, was it the rookie year, the year that they shut him down before the playoffs?

Yes, yeah. I mean, Bryce's debut was big. Yeah, I was in, it was in Los Angeles. So, so it was a West Coast game, a little tougher to consume. Like Strasbourg's was seven o'clock. MLB network, like a national debut. It was all the hype. That was huge. Yeah, it's a few in baseball. They were being. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, skins as they do. Yeah, just name them all. Well, the animals gonna bring up all skins as they do. No one's gonna bring up Tom Brown's debut. No, well, you're a dead man. Well, at least they do. All right, enough. 2-5-5-9-2-94-94. Are you worried about the Phillies now? Are you worried now that to me, they look like they're not ready to play. And next question today, based on Porter Martone and Andrew Painter's debut. Give us a famous debut. Sports, movies, music, whatever. Coming up next, Mike Raeball talked again about his text, his text buddy. His text and buddy, AJ Brown. That is coming up next.
