Swinney Apologizes, Review Ordered After Linden Scandal

On March 28th, John Swinney, Scotland's first minister, finally apologized to the victims

of a SNP predator, Jordan Lindon, three days after Lindon's conviction on 10 sex offenses

against young men and boys over a decade.

This came right after a newspaper confronted Swinney at a pro-independence rally, where

Lindon had served as an SNP counselor.

Swinney told reporters he's sorry to everyone hurt by Lindon and the messy handling of complaints.

He claims he knew nothing about the misconduct until they hit the news and has now ordered

an independent review of the SNP's 2022 complaints process to make sure it's solid moving

forward.

Political opponents like Scottish Conservative, Megan Gallacher, slammed the apology

as pathetic and too late, saying victims were gaslit while the party protected its

image.

They demand the review earns victims trust, or it looks like Swinney sides with cover-up

enablers.

The SNP first got warnings about Lindon back in 2017 from a young member who'd seen

his predatory moves firsthand, and again in two, 2022 after a Saul report surfaced.

Both times, please to investigate where ignored, letting Lindon stay until he quit in 2023.

Whistleblowers, including a counselor who claims Lindon harassed him, call the party
