Everybody welcome to IT Roundtable. I'm Tex Humber joined by Justin Wells recruiting extraordinaire Evan V. Beatman Paul analysis Ian analysis Eric team Intel and we're gonna talk Texas first Ohio State first You can go read all their stuff at insight Texas one dollar for one week And then you're gonna get 50% off your first year the promos are always flying around take advantage of that link in the description It down below. All right first things first Justin. It's a big game So we should have some recruits on campus. What's going on there? Yes There will be recruits. We're looking at over 80 prospects from across the country hitting the 40 acres on Saturday Try to remember the last time we've seen a recruiting visitor list like this two years ago Georgia when they hosted Georgia was pretty nice But probably 2022 Alabama. I think it's probably your last one where it just you just had the best The best and it really starts you have all your commits from 2027. They're gonna be in the house notably Eastern Royal
And you know Texas fans are a little fatigued with his recruitment right now and I completely understand that he came off of a unofficial to LSU a lot of rumblings that he could flip then There's always rumblings, but he's still committed to Texas He's still showing up this weekend And he's still coming in to connect with coach Jackson and see what the horns can do against Ohio State That's one of those things where you still got to pay attention to him You still got to watch him He is the best receiver in the country and Texas is doing their damnedest to keep him There's one 2027 that's uncommitted and that is Sean Foxx. He is a former linebacker body turned into edge Yeah, Kentucky commit Texas offered him Eric him turn a remember he they offered him. I want to stay back in May maybe even June He when he was a linebacker recruit but man this kid has just grown. He's six foot six two hundred forty pounds now He will be an edge He was supposed to be a Kentucky Alabama this weekend
Dad said you know what we need to go see Austin. We need to go see Texas Sean Foxx going to be on campus. That's notable and then really it's the best of the best of 2028 If you can think of a big-time recruit junior recruit in the nation that's coming in there going to be their Bryson right is the big name number one receiver in the country for for 2028 probably pound for pound the best prospect in the country He does it all you're gonna have a Demari in May. He's wide receiver at a North Krali You're going to have Jaylen a die The number one receiver in the state. He's going to be on campus CJ Waley the number three athlete in the country Edge prospect. He's gonna be on campus James Foster the third JF3 That's another kid number two rated safety in the country There is a lot of big-time guys that are going to be hit the 40 acres this weekend. It's going to be a lot of fun We're going to have plenty of updates and inside Texas today tomorrow so be Make sure you you check those things out because these are the top of weekends where recruiting matters
Like these are the you know you put on a good show I'll never forget Kobe Black was in the stands for the Alabama game when they hosted them back in 2022 and he said I felt like if I was on the field I would have made a difference You had Colin Simmons you had Zina Umiya Zulu you had Kobe yet a to cam Williams you had a ton of guys in those stands It matters if you can put on a good show it matters and I think Saturday night is going to be a spectacle Awesome Evan what did you hear from Sark and the players during this week of press conferences? Yeah, I think the funniest quote from Thursday was uh, you know I promise you anything they ran last week against ball state. We're not going to see so Approach with the media we know what's coming because we've been preparing for what's coming for a long time now since the start of the offseason and What a house to show against ball states not going to be what Texas season that's kind of vice versa for the long horns with the buck eyes But uh mentioned early on on Monday I'm one of the first questions of course with balls around Jeremiah Smith and he said you know That's one of the best players in the sport and that's kind of guy you have to account for you have to know where number four is on every play
So I think a lot of the focus for him as a as a head coach for his defense is a where's Jeremiah Smith gonna be We've talked in intel a little bit this week about you know how Texas is gonna plan to defend him with lumus champion what that means But uh, mostly what we heard from Sark this week is You know, this is this is the kind of game we prepare for long long ago And so we're not changing our game plan. We're not changing the way we prepare Talked about archmaning in particular about how you know this year compared to last the biggest difference He has a head coach and a play caller for preparing him is he knows his personality a little bit better I think he knows now more compared to last year like oh sometimes arch seems to take a hit Sometimes it's good to get him on the ground or or get him in the run game involved early because that's that's his personality They get some and figure it into the game and gets him ready to get going to actually play some football So a lot of focus on how manning is gonna be a little bit different this year and arch himself said like you know I'm one year ahead. I'm one more year one year more prepared And now we get to talk about some of the weapons. I mean he also acknowledges that like you know It's probably the best wider seabird core I've had while being
Texas quarterback, which I've only been doing it for two years So having came Coleman and added to it of course makes that makes sense But you know Coleman is gonna be a big factor in this game And I think both Sark and and arch realized that so that's been the big kind of team personnel Talking points is that offensive weaponry also a lot of talk about just the pageantry of this game Like why you play college football both Sark and Ryan Day talked about in their press conferences on Monday like a big reason You come to these schools to be able to play these out of conference games you come to blue bloods like Texas Ohio State Michigan Oklahoma playing their games the Saturday because you get a chance to do this these big SEC vs big 10 matchups said you know college game day wouldn't be coming here if this wasn't a big game If we weren't a good program. So uh Dove into kind of how he's bill is roster over time, but then the day This is why you coach at Texas Sark said I didn't come to Texas to you know Just be the head coach at the University of Texas. I came to win big games came to win championships He's got a chance to on Tuesday or on Saturday excuse me Thank you Evan Paul You're gonna take the Texas offense man. What are the keys to the game here?
Well beat man Evan just told me that you can draw nothing from the ball state game my entire analysis is predicated on ballstate Yes pass on You Hopefully they don't run that vertical to Jeremiah Smith. Yeah, I mean I'm I don't have anything guys everything is based on ball state I thought they were we're gonna grant you ball state analysis here you go So just tell everyone exactly what happened in game one and I think all right We do play by play. I'm gonna just read it. Okay. Sounds good. Uh bow Jackson one yard off tackle So Ohio State didn't have a run more than five yards in the first half They got some things figured out later, but I'm impinging on Ian's ground there So Ohio State's breaking in eight new starters on their defense Uh map patricia certainly distinguished himself last year a lot of doubters a lot of people thinking Because he failed as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. He can't coordinate a college defense We found out differently and we're gonna have another whiteboard battle between Steve Sarkeesian and map patricia
And we need Steve to uh to get the w on that one for us to get the w on the field eight new starters as I said The most talented guys in their secondary or actually their youngest guys. They're gonna be starting a true freshman at nickel jade timmonds former five star very good player Very as as athletic as you'd imagine a five star starter would be at Ohio State But he's young and he actually even had a couple of busted coverages against ball state So I think that's something that we need to look for and I think sarke is gonna be looking for The other guy that Texas fans may be familiar with from their crooting trail of your is dev and santa's he's gonna be their lockdown corner He is the rare north shore product that's not a bust. So uh Ohio State's gonna be putting a lot on his shoulders to match up on the field side particularly With cam colman when that happens That's gonna be a key matchup to watch And then I think you're gonna have to take a look at how much they do up front because They're gonna have to disguise some things in their secondary until they get more experienced and map patricia can run more of his stuff
I think they're gonna try to model things up front and the guy to watch there is number two In your program that's kanyada jaxson He is a guy that's sort of been on a slow burn at Ohio State is a former five star highly recruited guy He certainly looks the party six six two seventy five. He's an edge And he had eight pressures last weekend's ball state the lightness very much come on for him It looks like a first round draft pick so Texas needs to block him and they're gonna need to block a much more active and deeper Buck-eyed defensive front than I anticipated. I thought Their depth took a little bit of a hit from last year which would make sense since they were incredibly deep But actually they've got more guys and more bodies than I thought Including a couple of really promising young true freshmen who they like to put in in different packages So I think map patricia and the absence of having a great dominant nose at the point of attack as he had last year with Kaden mcdonald think he's gonna play a bunch of big quick guys And he's gonna muddy it up the picture and he's gonna count on seeing some of
2025 Texas of offensive wine play We didn't see that against Texas state Texas state also doesn't have a single defensive wine and who would probably crack the buck-eyed too deep So I think that's an important matchup if we can protect Maybe even get some semblance of a running game and then constantly test mr. Timmans and mr Sanchez a true freshman or a two sophomore a true sophomore With cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo I think that's gonna be a key and critical matchup for the game and It's gonna be a lot of fun to watch Thank you Paul before we keep going. We're gonna have Ian up next But let's hear a word from Andre Texans know when you're injured There's one name that gets results Andre the lawyer Trust the team that has secured millions for their clients and help thousands of Texans win their injury cases Car regs slip and falls 18-wheeler accidents on the job injuries wrongful deaths Don't let the insurance companies tell you what your claim is worth Andre the lawyer will fight for you his principal office is in Dallas
But they serve Texans throughout the state so don't wait call 214 444 8808 that's 214 444 4888 contact info was in the description Ian How do you defend this Ohio State office? I don't think it's changed in like six years That Paul stat that he just offered was Very illustrative of the point. I'm gonna make that Ohio State struggle. They didn't have you set a five yard run until after half time Um, I run of more than five yards until after half time I was starting with pack actually recently in packs of that they had to kind of make some big concessions in their run blocking techniques to even achieve that In the second half and kind of move away from what they wanted to do The blueprint on how to stop Ohio State and Ryan Day was established by Mike McDonald in 2021 at Michigan And it's been the same ever since which is that if you can play them too deep
And dare them to rhyme on an honest box and you have good enough Players up front to get away with that you can take away their lethal wide receivers with deep bracketing safeties And they struggle to run the ball against good teams If you're Illinois and you try this or you're per do you just get trampled But if your Texas the last two times you have not been trampled and there's evidence to suggest that they are maybe even less Effective in the run game right now than they have been in recent years Um They It's see there's different ways that they could have responded to this at Ohio State And then what they actually did was hire Arthur Smith Who's known in the NFL for being like kind of a Meadhead manball run the ding ball kind of coach So it seems like they're just doubling down on our solution to this has to be running the ball and that For me as a Texas fan that feels better the lot of confidence because I just don't think they're going to be able to do that And you should bet on them not doing it
Especially they also hired an offensive line coach that hasn't coached offensive line in like six years From the NFL because you knew Smith So all very promising I think must champ will basically run back what pk did One quirk that I think we'll see is that uh Must champ already showed against Texas state some two deep blitz packages Where they're playing two deep coverage with only six defenders instead of seven So they can blitz one of the linebackers or an equal or someone I think we're going to see must champ try to do various stuff like that So that they can still take away the deep threats outside But see if biles or a timely defensive back blitz can More further unravel the Ohio State offensive line and get some tackles for loss You get them behind the chains And this could get really fun for Texas So pretty obvious blueprint for Texas here Give me fired up Ian that's good stuff Eric what happened this week in practice man give us the intel
Yeah Tuesday uh blitz Tuesday was uh relatively clean all things considered That's where they take the game plan from the classroom to the field Obviously there's always going to be some hiccups because you are doing a unique game plan This contrary to what Paul thinks this is not going to be the same Stuff they ran against Texas state last week Uh, so there's definitely some things to clean up But it was uh it was a good practice uh we heard about your boy biles uh getting a punch out I think well he's gonna be everybody's if he uh if he does that again Having good practices obviously he's extra motivated being from Columbus Wednesday was a much cleaner practice uh in all three phases They feel like hey man if it's this is a close game. There's the margins for errors are low They might need a special teams play There's one aspect the special teams I'll be watching uh I'll probably drop a note in the game thread before the game kicks off We'll see if Jeff Banks has something up to sleeve Ryan Wingo a good week of practice You know, Texas has their version of Jeremiah Smith And in years past they had a better advantage of the number two water seeber being in first round draft pick Well now the shoes on the other foot with Texas having Ryan Wingo
I don't expect the plan to change much on uh on Jeremiah Smith as Ian was saying and they don't have carnaltate or a meco-buka Uh, but Texas is going to treat Devin with you and like like he is one of those guys just in case And they're going to make them they're going to make Ohio State beat him with the run game um You know internally they you know, Texas state presents more difficulties Schematically than Ohio State does like Ian was saying So I think this is a pretty straightforward game for the defense Probably not going to have a ton of calls in there. I think it's going to be able to you know simplifying He's going to help them play fast. Saw a few mistakes last week. There's still some things that iron out But on defense they have confidence on offense. They want to get speed involved Make some big plays start fast You know, they think they're opting. They're is there to score some points Given all the turnover on defense. So overall to confident team But it's not you know, it's not overly confident. They know they got to come in play well execute If they do they feel like they've got a very good chance of coming out with a win and I don't know there's a lot of confidence behind the scenes right now Now it's time for the roundtable prediction sponsored by the polymarket after world's largest prediction market
And you can buy and sell whenever you want throughout the entire game So no sportsbook freezing your cash out button right in the middle of it You're not even up against the house or the sportsbook You're taking a position against other traders So go find whatever game you're watching have some fun get active in the chat and see what the other traders are looking at Right now you can sign up for the polymarket app with code on three and new users will get $50 on top of that $10 deposit Go download the polymarket app today and see for yourself and here's a quick disclaimer 18 years are older only restrictions and eligibility requirements apply not available in all jurisdictions trading is risky 100% loss can occur see polymarket dot com slash TOS for more information the polymarket US app serves as an independent software provider and affiliate of the polymarket US and polymarket clearing the CFTC regulated exchange and clearing organization as you can see the polymarket traders have Texas as one and a half point favorites, so let's see if the roundtable agrees first I have to lead off here and I went 27
24 Texas if you asked me at any time during the day it would change. I flip flop 90 times right now I'm giving the edge actually because of hidden yardage We had low penalties and Ohio State wasn't doing that great and special teams those little things are gonna add up in this game As long as they stay their course now let's hear from the other guys All right, Justin. What was your prediction and why? Yeah, I'm with you. I went back and forth a few times, but I I think it's gonna be low scoring like I just don't see it being being You know over the top I got Texas 21 Ohio State 17 I think you're gonna see a couple big plays early Then I think the game's gonna pretty much even out and be a fist fight for the majority and then the fourth quarter is gonna come down to Who has the ball last who makes the less amount of mistakes? So yeah, I like Texas before 21 17 Good stuff Evan. What are you thinking? I've got a razor thin 28 27 in favor of Texas I thought for the last month. I would end up picking Ohio State and here we are
And I was about to flip right before I submitted our roundtable earlier this morning, but 28 27 I think I think Texas is uh, I do see the talent edge for the long horns in home game Fourth quarter when these margins are really tight I do think Sarge squad will be able to kind of get over that hump and win a really close game Paul I've got Texas 27 24 these gentlemen have hit all the relevant points God bless Ian. What are you thinking? I got a Texas 27 13. I do have additional insights unlike Paul Did my homework on this? Uh, I think this is basically the game where Sarcan Arch finally break out together We get like Eric's been saying we get more of a 23 24 type Texas offensive performance Only a better a little better still because I think arch will be better than Quinn was in those seasons Um, and I I think Texas I think Texas can pull this out even if Ohio State is able to score more than the 13 that I granted them I just think that that
We're gonna see finally some fireworks from those two guys working together Awesome Eric 27 17 Texas they are back on that 23 24 trend line Texas is on a better roster cycle more talent married to experience ready to win right now I like the defensive line versus their offensive line. I like the fact that Texas has two potentially first round draft picks at water seabird rather than That being the Ohio State advantage. I think the most champ factors real the defense. I think he's gonna play hard fast and has more playmaking And overall I do think it's time for Sarge to reassert himself to get rewarded for that aggressive offseason He had and I feel pretty good about I went back and forth but more about margin of victory not who would win Awesome only Evan Evans only one that didn't have one and a half point favorite and our horka He's not on the video horka. I'm just saying guys. You don't have to go rush the comments or anything But he did pick Ohio State so I don't know about that everyone head over to inside Texas one dollar for one week 50 percent Op your first year we'd love you to join and once again You can go talk to horka about his pick in that thread if you sign up
Everyone let's go beat Ohio State have a great day and see you later
