Listen, me. I appreciate watching NFL games. I get it. But I also think that the NFL needs to rein it in a little bit with this schedule. We don't need games every day of the week. OK. This is a perfect time, though. Can you do an Australian accent? Ooh, can I do an Australian accent? I need to look up the like, how do you do that? Oh, from like, I can't do it. I can't. I need to listen to someone. You were going to Texas. I don't know. I was from a very specific part of Australia

1:01that you're not aware of yet. OK. To do an Australian accent, you have to drop the R sound at the end of words, flatten your tongue, and shift key vowel sounds like turning I into an OI. Kind of sounds like you're from Staten Island, right? Or maybe Boston. So what's the word that has R? Because if I'm dropping the R and I'm saying, Pock the Ca, that's Massachusetts. I guess. And some parts of Staten Island. I don't guess so. But they don't sound Australian. Listen, at the end of the day, neither of us are very good at accents. I think I could mimic it if I hear it, and it's still in my brain, but I can't just recall accents. Like I go to say it, and then I just put some shrimp on the bar. Oh, Bobby is a good one. Bobby. I'm Carly Murray, and today is Thursday, September 10th, 2026. The Core 4. The 4 headlines you need to know. I believe it was on Tuesday's episode of the Morning Show podcast when we talked about the new jobs report and how a lot of the new jobs went to women in August. But jobs going to kids who just graduated college have been really bad. Well, new numbers just came out. The BBC has reported that graduate jobs have dropped 50% in one year. So kids graduating college and going into the workforce, those job openings that are available to them have dropped 50%

3:03in one year. That is scary. That is in thinking that that's half of a whole graduating class expecting to have job opportunities and nothing's available to them. But why is anyone going to college? It's a tough sell these days because of how expensive it is and how hard it is to find jobs after college. Which I also did the update about the percentage drop in college admissions because people just aren't going anymore. The main factors that this article cites as contributors to less availability for graduates is AI. And the cost of running their business is so high and they have to make cuts somewhere. And those entry-level jobs are the first ones to go. Oddly enough, we actually talked about this at length on the Carlyle Marine Anthony show on Tuesday. On Twitch about being a stay-at-home parent versus going to work because it's so expensive for daycare. Oh, yeah. It is literally expensive to breathe. We know that. But like daycare, it's super expensive. Well, now the White House is considering a plan to pay some stay-at-home

4:09parent and they're going to use federal childcare subsidies. So there are a lot of caveats. And again, this is just a plan like there's no concrete thing happening here yet. But it's very interesting. The famous concepts of a plan. Well, yeah. So under the draft proposal, it would have to be a married couple. OK. It had to be married. And you could qualify if one parent works at least 35 hours a week. And the other parent stays at home. But the issue is that the money would come from an existing childcare fund that currently helps lower-income parents afford childcare so they can work or attend school. Oh, OK. So they're not even sure how much money they would give people because that program, the benefits average about $9,000 per child per year. OK. $9,000 if you're staying home. It'll help, but it's not filling that hole. No. So, but again, it would be great if it worked. It would be great if it worked. And it would be great if it wasn't pulling money that's

5:10already been promised or set aside at least for lower-income families. Again, concepts of a plan. Yeah. Papquiz, do you know what country produces the most nuclear energy in the world? There are about 33 to 35 countries that use nuclear reactors to produce energy. United States? The US is the number one when it comes to nuclear energy production. But only 18% to 20% of our energy as a country comes from nuclear power plants. You compare that to a country like France, which is third in nuclear production, but 70% of that country's energy comes from nuclear. Why do I bring all of this up? Because that is all information I found out when I was studying for this update. The US government is planning on sending just under $2 billion to the state of Iowa so that they can reactivate a nuclear power plant.

6:10And one of the reasons is in the middle of the country has become very expensive to produce energy because of the rising gas costs. So if you have a nuclear reactor producing energy for a state, you don't need the other avenues of producing energy. So the government is going to set aside just about $2 billion. I think it's $1.9 billion to reactivate a nuclear power plant in Iowa. And that is actually a good thing when you think of green energy. Even though I know nuclear energy scares a lot of people. It is pretty safe. Since the NFL is in Australia today, we're also going to go to Australia for today's core four. So they are proposing a law that would give people the option to turn off algorithmic feeds on social media platforms. Now it would be a law that companies have to give you this option. That's amazing. Instead of like the recommended content, like I click on one video about Italy and I've

7:12got a million videos about Italy. So it has to be a timeline of people that you follow ideally. Yes, it would be people that you follow like your friends and creators. And they're hoping that under this law for kids under 16 platforms would also have to disable features like endless scrolling, like and view counts, stories and personalized feeds. Under this law, platforms would have a new responsibility to protect users from certain harmful content. And they could face fines of more than $100 million for violation. Now again, this is just a proposal. Another concept of a plan. I love the idea of no algorithm. And I'm very curious what other people think about that. So algorithm or no algorithm comment in today's episode of Spotify. Hope for humanity. Even when the news sucks, there's still hope. I know on yesterday's episode of the Morning Show podcast, we talked a lot about Seattle because we were talking about the Seattle sea hawks kicking off the

8:12season against the New England Patriots. But let's talk about Seattle one more time and hope for humanity. And yes, I did briefly mention this on our live stream on Tuesday. But the city of Seattle has been working towards this goal for a couple of years now. And they finally reached it this school year where every single Seattle public school student receives free lunch. Heck yeah. No questions asked. No paperwork to fill out. Lunch and breakfast are just free when you go to school. One of the reasons I find that so unbelievably uplifting is because I was one of the reduced lunch kids at my public high school in Ridgewood, New Jersey. And as grateful as I was that that program, as an adult, I should say, I was grateful that that program exists. But as a kid, this is keep in mind before like digital cards were given to students to use at schools. I had to go on to the school lunch line and essentially ask the cafeteria

9:15cash here to look up my name. She would lift up the cash tray, find my name on a list and then scratch it off. And as a, you know, 14 year old, that was unbelievably embarrassing for me. And I hated doing it so much so that oftentimes I would just pay for lunch or I wouldn't eat or I would wait till everyone else got their lunch sat down at their cafeteria tables. And then I'd go because I was just so embarrassed of being the kid that needed to ask for extra help in front of all of my peers. But if you give everyone free lunch, you take away the stigma. Exactly. And I, that is why I personally love this idea. I know New York City has done it. We're all public school students can just get free lunch regardless of what your parents do for a living because that's the other thing is we're holding these kids accountable and putting a stigma on them over something they have no control over. You know, you're talking about 13 to 18 year old kids who are just trying to go to school. And now in Seattle, that stigma has been eliminated because all public school

Well, I'm checking out Alaska Airlines dot com because did you know, Carthamory that in a little over a month, we can fly back to Italy nonstop from Seattle. Yeah, two Rome. I'm just looking up flights right now. We got that same 5 30 PM flight. You want to go? I mean, I said I would do this. It's Columbus Day weekend in October. I'm looking up flights. I think 10 hours in the air for five straight days in Italy. And then we come back. I think it actually makes sense. Listen, I'm not against this. And listen, times to take in because this is a seasonal flight. Yeah. And I've had so many people reach out to me and be like, Oh my God, you seeing your post made me want to go to Italy. And I'm like, well, listen, like the Alaska Airlines nonstop flight runs from May through October. So you either go right now, we got to wait until May. Yeah, but you got two months to book your trip. Yeah. It's nonstop Seattle to Rome. And then you can eat all the ketchup, Pepe and the Cornetos. What are they called? Did I get it right?

So I'm basically telling them they all, they all thought I was Italian anyway. They did everyone in Italy did think Anthony was Italian. So highly recommend going to Italy. I was on the phone with my mom and she was like, yeah, my high genus was telling me how everyone's going to Italy right now. And I'm like, yeah, it is the place to be. Starting October 3rd. Yes, Seahawks had a game yesterday. That was the official kickoff to the NFL season. But there is Thursday night football. But it's technically also Friday football. Oh, this is the Australia game. Yeah, so the NFL is in Australia for the first time tonight. It's the Rams first 49ers. And we will see it today. But in Australia, it is Friday. And that is confusing literally everyone. So it's happening at the Melbourne Cricket Ground,

22:57which is a 100,000 seat stadium. Larger than any NFL stadium. And it's sold out. Cool. It is absolutely crazy. But the NFL has been planning this game for nearly two years, including transforming this cricket stadium into an NFL venue. They have been knocking down walls, adding showers, toilets, hot tubs and cold tubs to bring it up to NFL standards. Oh, yeah. Okay, that's crazy. Now each team is bringing about 225 players and staff. Each team, okay. Along with a combined 32 tons of cargo that was just in the air. They had previously shipped another 27 tons of equipment by C 59 tons of cargo. Sounds like it's not worth it. Like, firstly, first of all, like, we're America's so annoying showing up with all this stuff. Well, I also know both teams took very different approaches to going out to Australia. I think it was the 49ers who they went like five days ago.

23:59They're trying to acclimate everything. And the Rams basically did the opposite where they're just flying in for the game. And flying out like you don't have time to get jet lag. Exactly.
