2026 Women's US Open Round of 16 Previews: Kalinskaya-Navarro, Kostyuk-Noskova, Sabalenka-Townsend

Yeah, good to see you. The sunshine has returned to the UK. I'm glad to say I'm sure you've got it where you are as well. So that's a welcome return for us. So that's put me in a good mood this Saturday morning. So yeah, looking forward to the tennis and yet all in positive spirits. We've done these shows now for a, I think you've been approaching about a year and a half, 18 months you've been involved in the tennis crew? Yeah, I think that the tennis live through to start with and then this for this season, yes. So yeah, about how many shows can we've done? Maybe 500 maybe? That's a good question. 300 shows. You might have done 500 shows. It's the first time I've ever seen your lips sync with the way you're speaking in 18 months. But finally got your internet done, which is quite good. I just only took a year and a half to do, but it's good to see you get your internet done anyway. You must have some winners at the US Open to get the

Well, I don't want to blame the company and give them their name away, but yeah, they, yeah, they, I'm going to, they're going to take some blame and not just me here when you deal with these sort of customer service people. We've been in hold on the five right, two months. Yeah, I've been wet. Yeah, I've got a big phone bill coming. Yeah, to put the internet money towards, yes. So, but yeah, finally, hopefully it's all all A.O.K. now and produce a job. We'll be happy, man. Yeah, everyone's happy now. Tim's internet is working fine. And he has got some tips for us today in the last 16 of the women's US Open. Let's before we go into those matches, let's have a look at the outright market. And it really is a fascinating outright market. I mean, it's great to see so many of these players up there with the chance. We have got numbers, Arca, she's still in the, we're going to come on to her odds in a second. And these are the latest odds with bet rivers. Sub and in cut, the number one seed, defending champion is still the favorite plus 275. I would mark her six out of 10 in week number one, but that's probably what you want in the first week of a major. A Coco Goff, who's been in great form plus 375,

3:02Eagishorn, tick five, he just could be good to survive the big scare yesterday. And later, Fernandez, she's $8.00, Rebike and 11, Amanda, and it's my over 14, Costuch 14, Mirandre over 40, our tip was Arca's 16, drifted alarmingly. I suppose it's because all the, there's no one getting beat in a, in or around us. So she's out to 16, Linda Noscow is 20, Eala 33, Jubwits 33, Madison Keys has been very fortunate, 40 and Emma Navira, then other big win, yes, that 50 to one. And just even further down there, you've got, Ken Wenzhen, obviously, a former major finals and Olympic champion at 70. So there's depth there, isn't there? Incredible. Yeah, there is tons of depth there. And I, you can see why some players haven't moved. I, Sublenki, you sort of gave her a six out of 10, and I'd assess that's probably about right. But then you look at our tip, who sort of drifted a fair bit. I think that is probably because it's reviking there is still in the tournament. And if she beats where she beats Merton's today, and then more than likely reviking, and she's then probably has gonna play Shreantech as well.

4:02So that's probably why she's drifted a little bit. I think yeah, Gough, Gough's looking and pretty solid. I think she played a pretty decent level of power, but also in her last round match and Shreantech's doing what Shreantech does, but the level's gonna up for Shreantech soon, then we'll probably find out where she is. My guess is she's still gonna be a little bit below where she needs to be, but time will tell for that. But yes, Sublenki's still the right favourite. She's one of the matches we're gonna talk about later on today. And I think she's actually got a tricky matchup coming. So yeah, still loads to play for. I think when you look at sort of form players, I think Pagula had looked excellent until she dropped that first set of a day to Fernandez. But I think the probably player who looked as good as anybody who's now gone is Karenina Mukover. She looked flawless for two matches. And then she went and got beaten in straight sets last night. So it just shows you how quickly things can turn. Yeah, we're talking about the men's market where the Americans are looking very, very good. Lots of contenders through to the men's last 16 as well. But women's market is six, seven.

5:02Americans left in the draw. So it's been a good, great tournament for American tennis. Wouldn't be that surprising at all. You know, women, American women and American men's men. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Well, it'd be a hell of a thing for American tennis, wouldn't it? I mean, you look at our hope as Saka. I mean, yes, she's drifted, but I mean, I'm not overly concerned. I don't think you want your players playing the best tennis in the first week. You want them getting through in the first week and playing their best tennis. In the second week, yes, she had a couple of tie-bicks in her first match. And then probably should have won in straight sets against the doubles player. Now the name is X, we're Siniakava came through in three. They've had a few issues with their ball toss, but I'm sure she will iron those out in between that match. And today's matching it to Lee's Merton. So we'll probably find out later on today. But yeah, I mean, I don't want her playing her blessed tennis in week one. I want to get in through in week one and then uping a level in the second week. And hopefully that's what we'll see. So if you haven't better already or even if you have, I wouldn't be at all against having a little bit more.

6:03And plus 1600, I think that's probably a fair price. Now you touched on the weather over here in the UK, but we're more concerned about the weather 3,500 miles away in New York. What's the weather looking like for the weekend? We had a rainy start, but it seems to be all clear. Sean's home to the weather's out. Yeah, exactly. Sean Cowell has returned. So the sun has come out in New York. And that looks to be the sort of set fair now for the rest of the tournament. I think when these matches, we're talking about take place on Sunday. It's going to be mid 70s, sun out. So yeah, not too hot, lovely conditions for tennis. And it doesn't look like it's going to get the sort of really hot. All for the next sort of seven to 10 days really in New York. So there should be no issues for sort of extreme heat with these players, which sometimes you do get in New York. Obviously the humidity is quite high, but I think temperatures sort of mid 70s up to about the mid 80s, about the highest, I think for the next week. So yeah, no issues with rain and no issues with extreme heat. So all set fair by the look of it. Now let's move on to the matches. That's what we're here for bet angles with bet rivers,

7:05a to angles of attack in these last 16 matches. And our first matches are match the not many people were expected to be a last 16 clash. They're both, you know, polity players, but you know, both of them had big wins in the last round to get here. A kind of sky against them. Never Emma Navarro. Navarro obviously beat Mook of a Mook of have been in great form. And Navarro blister away in two straight sets of very good performance from Navarro. A kind of sky at the battle away pass, Vittalion that she did and she got the result there, both of them in great form. And this odds give it gives us a match here, which bet rivers find quite difficult to find a favorite. Can a sky is minus 107. Emma Navarro's holding onto favoritism here at minus one 17 spread is very similar. When obviously there's two matches where the money line is the same as spread is more or less identical there. And the top is 22 and a half. There will be about 60, 70 different markets available on this match. When it is live tomorrow. And if you do place a wage on this match or any of the matches at the US open, you can livestream the matches on the bet rivers app. Um, I think Emma Navarro's performance is very good.

8:06And I think she deserves to be favorite in this match. Home support, New Yorker in New York, kind of sky, you know, good win, but struggled a little bit in the second set. I think this is a, this is a, I'd like quite a Navarro, eh? Yeah, I agree with you. I do think I probably agree with bet rivers is a difficult one to find the fact. The favorite of by do think Emma Navarro is the right favorite amongst them. Can and Sky she does lead the head Ted 2, Neil, the most recent of those came in sort of very similar conditions this year in Doha. 752662. She was a minus 180 chance that day. And that was at a time. However, when Navarro, she was kind of way out of form. She didn't have a great winter. I think she had a few health problems and, um, yes, she was heading to Doha, not in the best of form there. So I think we can probably put a little bit of a line through that head to head. Navarro, she's now one for the last five matches. The only loss coming to Picula in Cincinnati. Um, she obviously beat Muckabee yesterday 6375. I think she was excellent in that match the way she struck the ball off both wings and served.

9:08I was really impressed with. Uh, she created 12 break point chances. She took seven of those and, uh, having previously gone the distance against Katelyn with Ellie and, um, bless on so fairly impressive stuff from Navarro, certainly against Muckabee yesterday. Uh, can and Sky she's also one for the last five matches. The only loss came by retirement to Serrana Sistia. That's definitely an issue with Karen Sky and her career, isn't it? She has quite often she has a bandages or wraps on sort of one of her legs or physically. She's not the easiest player to sort of stay consistently at high level. But when she's on, she's, she's certainly very good and she came from a breakdown in the final set. And one of the last four games there against Linus with Lena, uh, having won the first set 6th, three lost a second 2 6th, 6th, three in the third. She now made the last 16 for the first time here. It's actually the first time she's won three matches at the same tournament since Roland Garros. Uh, she did have a serve 14 double faults in that match and she had 40 unforced errors as well. And surely that's something she's going to have to tidy up here against Navarro.

10:10I don't think she's going to be able to sort of carry on serving like that and hitting as many unforced errors here and keep getting through. Um, if we look at what they've done on the hard courts in the last 52 weeks, Karen Sky she has a 57% win rate and a service points one return points one total of a hundred point seven. Navarro win rate a little bit lower 48% but a total very similar 100.1. But if we do look at their career in weight, which is quite interesting going back a obviously throughout their entire sort of lifetime career. Karen Sky she's at a 55% win rates. Navarro is higher at 56%. So and Navarro is total as 101.6 compared to a hundred of Karen Sky. So I think Navarro, we haven't seen the best of her in the past 12 months, but over a career, which I do think she's coming into better form now. She's probably the better player of the two. So I did think it was tight. I thought maybe over to an offset, but I think that's priced a little bit short at plus 120 with betreras was a likely outcome. But I do think I want to get with Navarro here on the money line minus 117.

11:12I do think she's the right favorite and I do think she's going to be the stronger to hear. Yeah, I mean, if I don't minus 117 to continue a good week. Oh, continue that week one form for the American players into week number two in Emma Navarro is our first official place to be kind of Sky out minus 117. Our next match is a fascinating match. I find this interesting. I'm quite intrigued to see what you think on this one because the market likes master cost you can imagine get Linda Nuskov. I think it's a bit of a short price. Actually, she's minus 152 against the Wimbledon champion is plus 123 spread of one and a half a total here of 22 and a half. Now these two famously met at the Wimbledon semi final last year where it's not sure what one this year. So when not sure what one six four six form went on to win a SW 19 prior to that costume won on a clay court. 766 love and I feel this determination of this game is all dependent on when it scheduled. If it's a daytime match, I think I think it might suit Nuskov. It was an evening match. I think it might suit costume. I think the the schedule is crucial here to how you bet on this match.

12:15However, in the build up to this match, lots of money for master Kushtuk. She seems to be the fashionable player. She seems to be bet. She's less a ranked opponent ranked 11 compared to six, but no. And pretty identical records. You look at their records this week. Pretty identical. If you look at their record coming as a torrent, pretty identical and it's summed up in their hard court form. 14 wins and six losses for no. And 14 wins and eight losses for no. But arguably the biggest match they played was that Wimbledon semi final just a few months back. I think this is a lot a little bit closer than those odds suggest me. Yeah, I would tend to agree. I think she's probably the right favorite costume, but minus 152. Yeah, probably a little bit on the short side. And as you mentioned, those heads ahead both this year, Nuskov are winning at Wimbledon 6464 and Kushtuk winning in Madrid. What's quite interesting is both players have won those matches and then gone on to win the respective tournaments. So finishing to see if they can carry that stat on there. And Kushtuk is now on eight of the last 10 matches on a hard court this swing only losses coming

13:15against Coco Gough and the Ega Sreontek. And in that time she's have wins over keys and Dreever and obviously Alexander over there yesterday. And she's obviously yet to lose a set here as well. Nuskov hurts. She's only lost the two matches, but one, the five matches having played three fewer than Kushtuk. She dropped her first set here yesterday to Anli having been up a set and three love. I think her forehand went went missing there a little bit in the second set. She actually had 19 unforced areas in set to alone, but she managed to regain her composure and claim, claim set three and gone to take the win, which was a decent effort in itself. I think you make a good point about the scheduling here. I think if this is not Kushtuk would probably prefer the night and perhaps Kushtuk, Nuskov, sorry, the day. So obviously switching around from when they played there last 32 round matches where Nuskov are played at night and Kushtuk played in the day. So it'll be interesting to see how that is scheduled. Obviously when we're recording this show, as we speak, we don't know the scheduling at a match. So do keep an eye on that. If we look at what they've done on the hard courts in the last 52 weeks,

14:17Kushtuk is 68% win rate in the service points, one with 10 points, one total of 104.1. Nuskov, a win rate ever so slightly lower at 65% in her total 101.8. But if we look at what they've done in the grand slams in that time period, Kushtuk, she has an 80% win rate. Nuskov a little bit higher, 85%. The totals are extremely high for both players. 108.5 for Nuskov and 107.9 for Kushtuk. So yeah, that may think the minus 152 is a little bit short there. There's a couple of angles I did sort of like in this match, but I think they're priced up about right. I did like over nine and a half games and set one, but that really has had that down as a minus 122 chance. So I think a little bit too short for us to be having a bet in. So I think it's just going to have to be a lean and I probably would prefer this bet if this match took place during the day, but I mean, you can bet over 10 and a half games in set one plus two 35. Again, as we don't know the scheduling, it is going to have to be a lean, but obviously they played that tie break set first set in Madrid there.

15:19And it was extremely tight at Wimbledon the first set, I think five four until Kushtuk had a serve broken at love. She had face three break points actually love 40. And Nosco managed to take that set six four. So both pretty decent on serve. Again, if this is in the day, I'd be more confident, but it is just going to have to be a lean because we don't know the scheduling. But yeah, over 10 and a half games at plus two 35, I thought was a reasonable angle with that nine and a half just being a little bit on the short side. I think Noschka at the price is a little bit of value. Not saying I wouldn't bet. I don't think she'll I think it's a 50 50 cool. I do I really do but I think the scheduling is so important. Let's move on to our next match. It's the match involved with Jessica Begula who survived.

17:22A massive scare in the last round against Lederfin and this she's up against Serrana Castilla who's having the last season on tour. Allegedly she keeps she saying that but she's playing the best tennis of her career. So why don't keep going and what's the point the winning matches. What's the point stopping? Begula has had a brilliant year on the hard court. 32 wins was seven and seven losses. She's got a good head-t head record here against Castilla. She's won three of the four previous meetings but one of them was so we have all these. One was 15 years ago in an ITF event in Midland. The last meeting they played was this year and it's probably the most relevant. It was in Cincinnati just a few weeks ago and Begula etched it seven five in a close match here. She's minus 305 on the money line to win this match plus 230 because the four and half which was bred and 21 and half is your total set. I was two and half which cast last time plus 145. Begula was bad in that first set against Fernandez. She looked nervous. She made a lot of errors Fernandez had opportunities

18:22but she found the way out of trouble. I always find Begula she even gets beaten round one or goes all the way through a good run and gets beaten a semi-finals or finals but she never wins a major. I mean this is sort of one of her best chances I would have thought. Yeah yet to win a major and perhaps this is one of her best chances or whether she's those behind her and she's got a few mental demons will have to sort of wait and see but obviously Robi can is not in her section and we know she struggles against so that's obviously a plus. With those heads ahead obviously I think it's worth putting most stock in the most recent one with others being 2015, 2021 and even beyond that. So yeah that head said in Cincinnati which is just a couple of weeks ago the ones who concentrate on with Begula winning six two four six seven five leading the service points one with ten points one towards a hundred and five to 95. Make sure one sixty seven percent of her first serve points in that match compared to a little bit lower sister 64 percent 38 second serve points with Begula 36 percent for sister

19:23but Begula had a far higher first serve percentage in that match. She was showing at sixty seven percent first serves in compared to just fifty five percent for Serrana sister. So I think a sister can up that and she's definitely got a little bit more of a chance here so far this week she's average first serve in at sixty seven percent which she suggests she will. So if she does do that I think she's going to be extremely competitive here. A sister she's now into week two of the US Open for just the second time. She actually made the quarter finals here back in 2023 and she came from a breakdown in both sets in her last match to Jasmine Power Leaning winning six three six three and is yet to drop a set here so pretty solid stuff from her. Begula she had looked the most solid player I think of the tournament in her first couple of matches until dropping that first set against Laila Fernandez. She said in her interview afterwards that she and Anders is a player she struggles with obviously a lefty puts different shapes and spins on the ball and and maybe that's just her talking a little bit of excuse afterwards but I think she has had problems with her in the past and clearly that was the case in that first set

20:24yesterday losing that first set six one but in fairness she did regroup and take the sort of second set six four and six three. She did give up eight break point chances in that match there and she only had three break opportunities herself of which she managed to take all three so it's so very clinical but I think if she gives sister the similar chances here then this is definitely going to give her a chance to her credit she took all three of those break points but she did have 29 unforced errors which was more than she had in rounds one and two combined so we'll just have to see whether she tidies that up and comes in that round one and two form or whether she's sort of going to leak errors here against Sustia which we also did see in Cincinnati. Look at their results on the hard courts in the last 12 months pegular 76% win rate and the service points one with 10 points one total of 105.8 Sustia very respectable herself 69% win rate and her service points one with 10 points one total is 105 so very good numbers for her. Sustia though a slight concern she's only one one of nine matches against top 10 players this year that actually came against Arena

21:26Subbell Enquering Room which she came from a set down there so against the top 10 players she has struggled a little bit. I did think she's capable of winning a set here though Sustia and she's minus 118 to do so with Bet Rivers and I thought that was her price I thought she'd be a little bit shorter than that maybe around the sort of 130 mark so I think if she gets that first serve percentage up compared to what she did in Cincinnati there which I do expect her to looking at sort of average stats and stats this week I do see her being extremely competitive here so yeah Serrana's to say to win a set yes at minus 118 with Bet Rivers. minus 108 Custia to win a set at its Tim's second official play on the last 16 card and you check out all the markets available on the Bet Rivers app. I remember you can follow us all on our sales shoes as well app because we win of course Twitter Instagram we haven't got Tim on TikTok yet but it's coming. Let's move on to our last match arena Sabbelinka having its Taylor Townsend. Sabbelinka the world number one we said she's flaky we said she's

22:26adding another you know she she showed signs of not that conform coming in but she's done exactly what she's had to do in this tournament she's won every match without dropping a set and it's worth remembering a hard court form this year is 30 wins and just three losses so when you're talking about someone having a crisis that's not about crisis to have there she's having its Taylor Townsend one of the best doubles players in the world the Americanians can have a huge amount of support but Sabbelinka's been there seeing it done it before minus five sixty is the money line for Sabbelinka plus three ninety towns in four and after she'll spread it in 20 and a half is your total and this is the first time these two have ever met before a Schneider's had to cut a so town's had a couple of good wins of Units in round one which we we tipped up and now they do that will think that they and in Tb each Schneider in the round of three yes they but it was another inconsistent performance for Schneider here it's all about Sabbelinka's mindset isn't it's about if if towns can get into her and can get her rattled then Sabbelinka can go because if she can't and Sabbelinka has her own way it's finding it very hard to see anyway towns and get anything from this

23:29yeah I don't think this is a match based on sort of numbers this is a match based on the sort of the occasion here and I'd be shocked if this wasn't scheduled for night match on Ashis surely going to be a night match and and I think towns and she's obviously had huge support I don't know if anyone saw the match against Schneider but the support they got she got there probably got her over the line here and I'm not sure Sabbelinka's really going to enjoy this this sort of atmosphere we've seen her on occasions obviously her first head to head yeah and this match is all about the situation for me I don't think she's going to enjoy the atmosphere of Sabbelinka in my opinion anyway when we've seen things got tougher or lately obviously a soccer there at Wimbledon Schneider at Roland Garros Coca-Golf at Roland Garros the year before and I do think this is going to be a difficult atmosphere for her whether she's sort of it's going to be aware of that coming in I'm sure she is but yeah towns and it is going to have a ton of support here she has however one her last 16 matches here now having been racking over 64 6 3 in her previous round and she also reached the last round of 16 at Grand Slam events 16 times consecutively now which is now that she's the first

24:34player to do that since Lindsey Davenport in 2006 so we all know the consistency levels of Sabbelinka Sabbelinka she did say of her in her interview having won that match that she knew she'd be playing Taylor Townsend she said she's a tricky player brings variety and comes to the net a lot really makes you think during a game and for me those are some of the things I believe Sabbelinka doesn't really enjoy I think she likes hitting from the baseline good tempo good consistent ball speed i.e. against Anis and Mowas, Rebicaners, Pagulers people like that I think towns and mixing this up I think is going to make things extremely tricky for her and I'm not sure she's going to enjoy a huge amount of it towns and she's now in the last 16 for the second consecutive year here after winning 69% of her first serve points against Schneider she had 39 winners compared to just 30 unforced errors anytime you can keep that win account higher than the unforced errors you're going to have a pretty good chance and she came to the net 44 times in that match I'll read you what she said about her match when she was told she'd be playing Sabbelinka she said I'm effing

25:35punts don't want to swear on this show I'm so excited I feel like I live for these moments I play Goff on Shatriye Ega on Centricort and Simone Halep on Ash and I've played Serena Williams on Ash I'm built for these moments now it's my time and I'm ready to take it so extremely confident from her and I'm effing punts now about the plus 390 come on in you're with me you got me going here what we're doing come on you know what we're getting into Sabbelinka obviously the better player on numbers but I don't think this matches about numbers this is more about the match up for me so be a nice teacher's moment it's a be a nice match I think this is certain to be a nice match I'd be shocked if it wasn't so yeah there's two ways I want to get with with towns in here I want I want to bet towns in to win a set yes a plus one 32 with bet rivers and I'm also going to split stakes here I'm going to bet towns into him set one at plus 270 she's one of first three in her three matches she's one of first sets six one six two and six two this week coming out the blocks extremely quickly obviously the level steps up massively here against Sabbelinka
