Happy Friday and welcome back to day five of the happiness advantage week. Today we're talking about why we miss so much of the good happening around us and a simple way to start noticing more of it. Like this beautiful. It is. Is. I think it's five. You are literally going to piss off so many people that you blasted through the stereo with how loud you just. It is five star Friday. One star review because of that five star Friday. I'm just ignoring everything you're saying five star Friday is the one time a week Where we ask you to do us a huge favor to take just five seconds to tap that five star rating wherever you podcast Whether that's Spotify or Apple because it really helps us to get this show out there to help more people get their minds
Right and just think about it if you came to the show and you saw more five star ratings You probably taken more seriously so if you could do that huge favor for us if you actually think it is worth the five star rating We'd really appreciate it. I promise you I will make sure Mike does not yell as loud next Friday There is nothing he can do except tape my mouth shut I'm sorry without burger. Do let's get into today's episode by myself for us today next So worst name series of all time the happiness advantage week the name is coming up with some name of the book I'm not like happiness week or something I guess you could have done that but I felt that whatever okay, so Sean talks about another very interesting study that Involved people playing Tetris wait one other thing. I just realized there's seven parts to the series So it's not even a week because it's gonna go beyond a week It's gonna go into like next Monday and actually how many days are in a week? Yeah, but you're we're not counting weekends See how the how many so it's exciting to be happy okay you wasting pressure was really a lot worse series They you're wasting. Sorry. I just we can actually go go go go ahead. Go ahead. Okay, so there's a study
That's done about these people playing Tetris and if you've never played Tetris It's a very simple game basically different shapes false think everyone listening knows how Tetris has played not Maybe not bro. I do you want to just find this entire everyone knows how is it supposed to be five star Friday my good Vibe it is good lighting. I'm just saving people the time that we already were you because you just keep wasting it Just don't fight me everyone knows how Tetris works Why they brotherly banter for you. Okay, basically the figures fall from the top of the screen You try to fit those pieces in a place is very good Nick. Okay, cut to the chase Well, basically what they ended up finding out is that after these people played this game for hours They were going about their day and they kept seeing like Tetris pieces falling in front Yeah, that's happened to me before and why does that happen? I don't know you tell me basically because if you focus on something long enough Your brain just keeps feeding you that right and that brings us to principle number five Which is train your brain to find the good because what you train your brain to do it will give you more of so the
Principle is if you train it to find good it'll show you more good in your life and we were kids at one point And we played a lot of video game did this ever happen to you when we were playing not Tetris But call of duty you know the little circle in the middle of the screen where you would shoot your gun I would we would play it for so many hours that I would wake up the next Muffin and I just used to see that and that's how true this is it also kind of reminds me I mean it's a little unrelated but when I would go on roller coasters like when you spend an entire day on roller coasters Or on a boat and then you come home and you kind of still feel yeah, thanks of it I think we underestimate what we are feeding our brain and like how much it's actually affecting the filter that our brain Then takes into the future. Yeah, I think that's really what we're getting at here is whatever you feed your mind is kind of what you end up Becoming and what you train it to look for exactly and I got to be honest I've been doing this in a very negative way recently. Oh, yeah, yeah, you had a confession I have a confession so I love what Nick finally has confession Yeah, he's not this golden child. No, I so we I recently moved to Rockaway
Which is this beautiful neighborhood and it's very clean and in New York in New York And it's it's a great place but our office is still in sunset park Brooklyn and it's right near the Beach U.A. and if you've never been here, there is a lot of garbage underneath the Beach U.A. and I just Bequeue is a highway. Yes, no and I had just found myself going from Rockaway to Beach You into work and when I get out of my car, which is parked underneath the Beach U.A. All I keep focusing on is there's garbage everywhere and every day I'm priming my brain I'm like garbage there garbage there garbage there it's fucking garbage everywhere and I'm like stop and as I was doing this episode I'm like wow you're and you're really actually a jackass Just to yourself Literally just waking up and looking at the garbage and just keep trying to find more of it Like what have you actually just picked up your head instead and tried to find like the artwork that's all around you as well The graffiti but the beautiful graffiti like the murals on the wall. There's also a lot of good But that was just a way that I was priming myself for negativity. Yeah, I think another thing that you do
Is uh, no, that you doing a good way. Oh, okay. Like one thing that you avoid is you don't watch anything that's horror related Like you don't watch any horror movies or horror TV shows And I think that's another thing that I've seen a lot of actually like people in the personal development space kind of subscribe to is like They'll go that far to avoid that. I won't do that because I love horror and I just have a sick brain that actually like gets joy from it But yeah, I think there's a lot of people that do that too. Yeah, but I just completely avoid negativity in any way shape or form Yeah, there's also like for anyone who hasn't played video games like us or Tetris I'm sure you've seen this when you bought your new car You buy your new car and then all of a sudden everywhere you drive you're like oh my god There's my car look it's there again. Oh my god. It's there again So that's the brain is the part of our brain called a particular activating system the RAS for sure And we've talked about it a ton on the podcast before but it's basically your brains built and filter and whatever is at the top of Your mind at that time is what your brain will filter out and look for it's kind of
Like a social media algorithm or your brain. It's like a search engine. Yeah, whatever question you if you ask the search engine What's wrong with my life? It'll find your brain will find everything wrong with your life now if you ask yourself What is good in my life your brain all of a sudden starts going after finding the things that are good. Yep So how do we actually make this useful? Well, I think this is a perfect opportunity for us to actually do a shameless plugs here Mike Well, yeah, why don't you want to tell the people about our little shameless plugs? So we've been working on something behind the scenes for I want to say three to four months maybe longer almost six months now And it's our first physical Theo Bros. product which we are very excited to launch this upcoming Monday on world gratitude day Yes, and it is literally a training device for this exact thing to help you find the good every single day But in the simplest way humanly possible. Yes, I'm teasing it. Should I go a little further or should I wait until Monday to actually give some details about what It is for it really yeah, I don't know what kind of one. I kind of want to keep it a secret
I kind of want them to come back around on Monday to find the full to get the full picture all right Yeah, all right, that's but tune tune in on Monday. Yeah, we have a big announcement. You're gonna like it All right, so let's go to the call to action then Mike This has been the most time wasting episode we've ever had it's Friday. It's fun. It's fun We're having fun fun five stock Friday. This is fun Call to action Mike the call to action is if you were listening on Spotify Which is about half of you to comment one good thing that you can notice is happening right now What is one good thing that happened today or that is happening right now? Whether that's the sun is shining on your face Whether it's the fact that you woke up today whether it's the fact that Somebody smiled at you whether it's the fact that you got a nice compliment Whether it's the fact that you're looking forward to the weekend Was one good thing that you can train your brain to look for right now to prime your brain for positivity And if you can't comment then just say it out loud or I don't know. Just think it You know, I really love this question because if you actually do it consistently enough Then all of a sudden you go through your day and you start like trying to notice
Oh, this is the good thing. I'm gonna I'm gonna write down tonight when I have to think about this question Yeah, so it really does get I like how you're pre-sweating everybody for Mondays launch and Mondays product announcement All right, well, thanks for hanging out with us have an amazing it'll it'll I promise it'll all make sense on Monday when you hear the product announced Well, we hope we made you laugh a little bit today with our brotherly banter We love you. We'll see you on Mondays for our big announcement and world gratitude day. I'm great weekend. Peace
