原田明夫は、検事として、取り返しのつかない人生を送りかねない人に向き合ううちに、「起こったことは仕方がないのだから、そのことを前提に最善を考えよう」という心境に至った。国際社会で活躍し尊敬を集めた新渡戸稲造という先達と対話し続け、どのような存在をも認めた上で争いのない社会にするために最善を考えようしたのであろう。
