Alright, you are back with your comedian, boyle and I'm quitting alcohol. So, fuck I just got caught up in a fucking storm of scrolling and phone and messages. Like, this is the first week back from my wake off and I've managed it until today. I've managed it pretty solidly like there's some times where I just go to my phone and I'm just there for no reason. But I didn't... well I did a little bit of driving with podcasts on but most of the time I was just raw-dogging it. I am stunned to feel now when I'm listening to podcasts or when I'm on the phone. I have like a physical reaction now.
There's some like real uncomfortable feeling I get especially listening to podcasts. Especially listening to fucking podcasts. I bet that's how some people feel about my voice. Eventually you do just feel like that. Eventually you've just heard my voice so much. Maybe not, maybe it's just 10 minutes a day but fucking compounding over to like eight years. That's a lot of time. Every day just spending some time with boyle but eventually some people are like, alright, I can't listen to this kind anymore. But, oh fuck where is it? Alright, hold on a second. This is why you've just got to be like a psychopath to do anything in entertainment or just fucking any content. Because people are just... Let's just say unreasonable. So when I was on my fucking sabbatical, I wasn't really checking my fucking Spotify comments
and then once it was over I come back to them and I didn't episode called Halleish Loop. The first two comments were one of them, one person in Lewis said, this is your best podcast in my opinion. And I'm like, wow, I've really reached someone. That was one and then I go directly underneath that and it was spiff and shbina whatever, Zach or something. And they go, well David, it's been good knowing you. Seven years, 133 days, you got me through a stroke, a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and a heart attack. Thanks for being a distraction when I needed one. Time to get rid of the physical clutter in my life. Maybe when, slash, if you get back to comedy and show up in Plano Text to do a show, I'll hear about it and come see you.
Thanks and be well. So basically save the cunt's life and he's like, alright, this kind has done two unfunny episodes in a row and I'm out. I'm out of it. I can't stand this shit any longer. And let's be fair, it wasn't just two in a row. It wasn't two unfunny's in a row. That's for sure. I don't even know when I'm being funny and not being funny anymore. Some people will send me a message saying that episode was hilarious and I'll be like, you mean that one that I was deadly serious about the whole entire time. And then I'll do a full episode that is just obviously I'm being facetious about something. I'm fucking taking a piss, being a little bit of a larykin and some come message me saying I'm part of the aluminum audio, some shit. It's like, can you win? Can you fucking win? That's why you have to be mental. You have to be mental to do this.
You got me through a heart attack. You got me through a heart attack but Jesus Christ I just can't keep going with this fucking shit about the no phone. But it's good that you fucking get rid of the podcast. But yeah, I definitely understand. You can have a fill of listening to cons voices. That is a foreshore. But yeah, I've had a decent week back on the fucking tools. By tools, I mean the phone. And I think I've managed it decently. I could have done better in some areas. Like I do pick up my phone sometimes just to unlock it and then just flick. Like I'm not actually doing something and I'll have to catch myself and like, right, put it down. You're not even looking at anything. I don't think I looked at Twitter for any longer than like.
Maybe like 45 minutes all up this week and I'm telling you, prior to my sabbatical, I could have done 45 minutes fucking in between blinks. I was getting a lot of Twitter in. Did fuck all Instagram. I'm pretty much only just messaging on Instagram. But the problem is when you're open, the fucking app you do get caught in a scroll for maybe like, I can keep it down to like six minutes, seven minutes. Tonight I got caught. I got fucking, I got vortexed in. I was messaging John Doer, my old friend Johnny Doer and in between I was scrolling and I got caught up. Then there was arguments and then you know what it is. You know what it's like. But for the most part, I feel like the cord, the tether between me and the phone has been weakened dramatically. I can leave it now.
It's almost psychological. It's like, I went a full week without pretty much picking it up. Without looking at anything, nothing happened. I didn't miss anything. My life was much better without it. So I can just fucking put it down and walk away. I can be out in social situations and not pull it out. I did that at the birthday party. I didn't impule my fucking phone out the whole time. The urge was strong, but I resisted. Boy, the urge was strong. But I left it in the pocket and it just feels better. So we've got another week. Let's see how it all goes. I'm still on the artist journey, which is it's becoming more and more apparent that this artist journey, the artist's way is like a spiritual journey as well. So let's see how we go there. I think I'm at
week six this week. Week six, Jesus. Fuck. All right. Anyway, that'll fucking do it for tonight. And I'll see you at the fucking light on.
