ESPN. The Pan. You're listening to ESPN Radio from the Santa Quinn Ford Studio of 103.9 and 98.3 ESPN. The Pan. They weren't supposed to be here. Hell is the underdogs of sports radio in the state of Utah. Nothing is secret when these two get together from college to the pros. Bryce Larson and Jordan B. A. Newtie cover it all. Buy it from the Broadway media building in downtown Salt Lake City. You're on the crazy train with Bryce at B. A. Newtie in the morning on 103.9 and 98. Three. The Pan. Part of Utah's ESPN Radio Network. Football, baby, how about that? The National Football League is back in action. More comes your way later on tonight from beautiful, wonderful, Australia. As the 49ers in the Rams get
ready to do battle on a Thursday evening across the globe. Welcome on in. It is Bryce and B. A. Newtie. I'm going to talk a lot about football if you couldn't tell already at this point. A lot of things to talk about in terms of the college football games coming up this weekend. B. A. U. U. T. Utah State all in action. Throw you a little bit on the FCS schools here and there as well. A lot to talk about in terms of injury reports. Some surprises that have come out in the last 24 hours for a couple of different teams. Then of course we still have a lot of different talking points in terms of major league baseball potentially coming to the market as well. Our friend Jake Hatch. For the first time in a long time, we'll join us later on today, 9.20 a.m. Conversation with our good friend, Jake Hatch, the host of Lockdown Cougars, also venturing into the podcasting world a little bit more in a YouTube show. We'll talk to him about how
life is going there also. A lot to get into. We'll start it off with a little bit of national football league from last night. Let's go. It's time for the first pitch on Bryce and Vianucci. Today's biggest story hitting lead off on Utah's ESPN radio network. Low and on as what the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches. You're killing me, small. It is time for the first pitch. We do it every single day and it leads off your show. It's brought to you by your company here. And Jordan, be a new to your company here. Boy, they are just something else. My man, they just are something else, currently dealing with some car issues and stealing with it all day yesterday. Driving around in different places, trying to figure out exactly how to fix my wife's car. Because these things come, these things go. I got a catalytic
converter issue, which is no one ever wants to hear that. You know what I mean? No. We got a we got a fat, a quick burning oil situation going on in the vehicle. So it's burnt, it's burning up that oil. Sometimes it doesn't burn it up all the way. So it shoots it down into the catalytic converter, gunks it up. The acceleration's gone in that car. Like, let me tie it's, it's quite the problem. Well, I guess somehow your company here caught wind of it that we were having this issue. And they're like, Hey, listen up. If you just take that bad boy off, you can drive around with it off. So just bring it in. We'll take it off for you. The catalytic converter. Yeah. And you could just drive around for a little bit until you can, you know, get that all sorted out, maybe come up with enough money to go get a new one. But that's going to, that's going to take a while. Can you drive without a catalytic? It's it's frowned upon. It's frowned upon, for sure. And the pros might not outweigh the cons. But you
absolutely can drive around on it for a period of time. You know what I like about this is the answer that comes up when you ask that, can you drive without a catalytic converter is you can physically drive a car without a catalytic converter. But it is illegal. And the damage or engine or exhaust system. No, that's I say, you can do it. If you need to get somewhere, you need to get somewhere, right? Because listen, here's the problem without the catalytic or with the catalytic converter on, right Jordan? A little bit hard to get up over the point of the mountain. Okay, because your, your accelerations just not there. You're doing 35. And everybody's looking at you like, what the hell are you doing to get off the freeway? Right? I've been there. So you got to get up over the mountain. All I'm saying, man, sometimes you got to just take that bad boy off drive it around. You know, you got to get to work. You got to get to work some days. We're going to find you in jail one day, because you're going to be one of those guys sawing off catalytic converters in the middle of the night. Those, that's our society has gotten to
a brutal point when cars, if you park your car outside, people just saw off your catalytic converter. Hey, I would, I'll let you know where my car is parked so you could go saw my catalytic converter off that does not work. We dare you, please. So anyway, yeah, got some, got some help last night. All right, all jokes aside, the catalytic converter is still on the vehicle. We're not driving around illegally. Just joking around over here for all purposes at the same time, though, whoo, those things are expensive, Jordan, do you have to go through this? Yeah, did you have to go through with it? Did you decide to we have not done anything yet? We are, we are weighing the options. Oh, man, that that's, no, that's terrible. That's terrible. Yeah. So anyway, your company here, they comforted us. Well, we cried and sobbed at the quote that we received the other. Oh, maybe you're coming on the good news, your company here has Netflix. So you could head over there and watch the game tonight.
Yeah, I'm going to have to, I'm going to have to actually I was looking at that last night, I might bite the bullet and buy that that Netflix with ads for $9. Oh, real? Okay, well, you can go over my house and hang out with me and my dad watching the night or maybe might be worth $9 to buy Netflix. Just kidding. You know, even if they raised the price to $75, I made just, I just made just go with the $75 Netflix. Instead of going over to your house. Okay, here's the good news, though, I was able to cancel ESPN plus because it is now part of YouTube TV sports package. That is nice. So I got rid of the $13 a month of ESPN plus. I think I can trade it off for a $9 a month Netflix account about that. This is groundbreaking news, Jordan, be sure this breaking news, right? How much is the non ad Netflix? I think it's like $20. Oh, man. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I'm going to have to go at the ad Netflix Netflix. I think the only thing I'm watching has commercials anyway. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, my wife can deal with the with the ads on the other
shows that she wants to watch. You'll find them. I think you'll find some stuff you really like on Netflix. Okay. There's, I mean, it's Netflix. There's a lot of options on there. All right. I guess we'll see. Well, speaking of national football league games that were on real TV, one was last night, 13 to 10, the final as they Seattle Seahawks get the win over the New England Patriots with Drew Locke, Jordan, be a newchi. How about that, dude, balling out 16 of 22 with the touchdown. He outtooled Drake May 187 passing yards. Drake May on the other hand, 23 of 33 one touchdown, three interceptions, including that monstrosity. At the end of the game, when they were in fill goal range, able to tie it up, I he looked to me, he was attempting to try and throw it out and just get it out of the way, but came up a little short went straight to the Seahawk defender. And that was all she wrote last night, 13 to 10, the Seattle Seahawks beat
the New England Patriots without Sam Dardlet. He was out there on the first drive, got hurt, hurt that hip. And after the game, mentioned that it is not a fracture. So the X-rays came back negative, but the way that it was said in the post game was a little bit construed. I don't know if you listen to any of the post game over on our sister station, ESPN 792, 1 FM there, the home of the Seattle Seahawks here in the market. I was listening to post game press conference. And in the post game press conference, they gave a little bit of an update on them. And they they said the X-rays on Sam Darnold's hip came back positive. Normally Jordan, be a newchi, that means he broke something, right? Yeah, wait, they said positive. Yes. They're like, that is the words that they said the X-rays came back on on Sam Darnold's hip that they were positive. And so the reporters are like, we're positive for what? Yeah. And they're like, no, no, it was positive.
It's good news, guys. Who said this? It was the head coach. Brother, what the hell are you talking about? Hey, someone's got a, this is why you got to put a piece of paper in front of him and say, read this exactly. Don't don't let homeboy go off on this. So in the post game press conference, that's what he says. And then they're like, so what did he, did he fractured? No, no, no, no fractures, guys, they were positive X-rays. Okay. So a positive X-ray means you broke something. Yes. X-ray was human that he meant it was a positive situation that he did not break anything. He set up for an MRI coming up later on today. Sam Darnold. So they're going to see if there's any torn ligaments or anything inside that situation. Yeah. That's, that's like, I don't know if you ever watched a rested development where the doctor comes out and goes, he always mislead you with the way he says things. And I wish I shouldn't
have brought this up because I can't remember the exact quote, phenomenal radio. That's all right. Never seen a rested development either. That's on Netflix. You're going to love it. Now, they're, you're going to have to deal with those commercials. You're going to have to deal with those commercials. Don't know if I'll make it there. That's the L defense. Holy cow. That's a good defense. I can't, I just don't, the patriots are good. Don't get me wrong. But we've talked about it at Nazium. Last year's schedule was a cakewalk. And they put up a graphic last night. It was the easiest schedule was it since 99 since 1999. They had the easiest schedule since 1999, the Patriots a season ago. That is incredible. So my, I'm watching that game last night. And the Patriots are good. They're right there. They should have won the game, frankly. But that's a brutal. Now they're playing a brutal schedule this year. Good teams. I just don't see it. I don't as far as them. I think they make the playoffs. They're not getting back to an AFC championship. I mean, their division is
so up and down every single year. Yeah, they very well could make the playoffs. Just be they could just back into a playoff spot. Well, and their defense was, I mean, your playing drew lock. The defense was really good. And Drake May was really good last year too. It was terrible last night. But, but that's a good team. We'll see how the Patriots turn out. But if you remember, they were my number one regression candidate, not not the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots, my number one regression candidate coming into this season, simply for that fact that they played one of the easiest schedules in the entire history of the National Football League, dating back to 1999. So I'm not buying into it. Plus the offseason distractions. Did you hear any mention of Diana Rucini last night on the telecast, by the way, I did not not a single one. So there were multiple shots at two at Toggle, Loa, but no mentions of Diana Rucini Mike Tomlin, and after the game, did
you hear what he said about to know, taking a shot at two, he said, I was there the last time to have played in Pittsburgh. He lost that day, he also got benched right after it. That was in the post game show for Mike Tomlin in the pre game show. Floreo is on the field reporting that the Falcons are ready to cut to a Toggle, Loa, whenever Michael Penex is good to go. I'd not see that doubt. Hard doubt. Don't think that's going to happen. I'd put money down that they won't cut him once Michael Penex is ready to rock it roll. Yeah, why would you? Why would you do that? Doubt. Okay. So anyway, there's more shots at two at Toggle, Loa on the telecast than there were mentions of Mike Ravel and Diana Rucini, who that was the biggest story of the offseason. So good job to NBC and the NFL's TV partners out there. Yeah. I mean, you could meant. I said, you can mention it once, mention it once, because it was an enormous story. And it is a distraction for the team.
After that, it's not that relevant anymore. But yeah, I would have mentioned it one time. Hey, Mike Tomman, how about you put on a tie? Good Lord. Come on. What are we? That's my complaint, Bryce. Put on a tie. Grow up. You didn't like that. Also, he's getting JSN his name all mixed up. It was. That's hard. If you believe that that's that's he's never done broadcasting like that before. That's not easy. I'll give him some some grace here. I that was a it was a competitive game. I don't know if it was a great game. Wasn't terribly well played. I'll tell you what though, if Sam Darnal, let's say he's out for a month or two, I think the Seahawks defense is good enough that they can tread water and still I don't know if they win the division with the Rams in there, but they're still going to be okay, I think. Now if he's out for three months, that might be a problem, but but I think the Seahawks can hang
in there without Darnal for a while. They did it last year. I'll tell you what, there's a lot of football teams around the National Football League that would love to have Drew Locke as their starting quarterback Jordan. Eating so. Yeah. The Atlanta Falcons are one of them. Absolutely. You'd rather have Drew Locke than no doubt about it. I think the fourth string quarterback currently on the Atlanta Falcons roster might take the most snaps this year. He's a division two quarterback. His name Jack Strand, he played the best in the preseason. And I would not be shocked if by the end of the season, Jack Strand is the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. And that's where they're at right now. That's interesting. Drew Locke absolutely would be a better starter than any quarterback they have on their roster. Look at Miami too. I mean, go around the league. There are quite a few teams that would benefit from having Drew Locke on their roster at this moment of time. See that I don't Drew Locke's fine. As a backup, he's not great. I'm not saying he's like the greatest quarterback ever. I'm saying he's a better option than most than most starting quarterbacks
around the National Football League because there's a quarterback issue. There's a quarterback development issue right now in the NFL. There is. Do you like him better than Penex? Yeah, because Penex can't stay on the field. This is like his fourth knee injury in his career. He's not going to be ready for four weeks. And then what happens? He's going to get hurt again. Well, you know, it's yeah, I mean, Drew Locke, we can, Mac Jones, that's way the Niners. I'm surprised they haven't dealt Mac Jones yet. Mac Jones is better than Ben Drew Locke. And I mean, Mac Jones might be a top 15 quarterback in the league and he's a backup. Do you think Mac Jones is a top 15 quarterback? I'll we're talking about how bad quarterbacks are. There are some pretty bad quarterbacks in the National Football League. Mac Jones was really good last year for the Niners. Yeah. He was, how much of that was Shanahan though?
Just guiding him through. Well, it's a lot, but you look at, I think, I think they rehabilitate those guys. It's same with Donald, I think. I mean, Donald was a disaster. He went to San Francisco and then Dominican, so and he's fine. And he's a super bowl winning quarterback. Yeah. And it's less to say about how it's, it's less how good Mac Jones is. And I'm and more telling of like you said, how bad a lot of these quarterbacks are. We'll find out. We'll see. We could go through better than who's, you know, better than whoever the jets have. Justin Fields right now. Better than who's, who's Miami's quarterback? Pull up the roster, baby. Can't even remember. Can't even very non-memorable. Is this moment in time? That's what I mean. They let go of Tua, let him walk. And is it Malik? Willis? I think it's Malik. Okay, here we go. Real quick. So here's the NFL,
NFL.com ranked these quarterbacks, every starting quarterback. They have pretty at 15. If parties at 15, like below that, who are you, who are you putting ahead of of Mac Jones? Like Tyler, who is it for the New Orleans? Chuck, Chuck, he'll be good. He will be, but not, I don't know, not yet. Maybe I'm overstating it. I don't know. I just haven't been impressed with the quarterback play. Geno Smith, back it with the jets. Yeah, I'll take, I'll take Mac Jones. I don't know, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I've just seen a lot of bad quarterback play. All right. If you think Mac Jones is a top 15 quarterback in the national football league, text in. Let us know. 877-3530-700. It's less to do with him and just more to do with how bad a lot of these quarterbacks are. There you go. We will continue to talk about this and more. We've
got some college football that comes your way around the corner as well. Be why you back in action, taking on Arizona, some injury information that comes your way. Utah takes on Arkansas, underneath the lights up at Rice Echo Stadium on Saturday evening. A lot of college football that's going to come your way coming up next. Do you want to remind you the LA Rams and the San Francisco 49ers come your way tonight to 6.35 PM start from Australia. It'll be over on Netflix. You're going to have to buy Netflix like myself. I'm finally caving in. You're going to purchase a $9 Netflix deal. Jordan. Well, way to go. That's why Netflix brought in the NFL. Said I would never do it. I don't even, I don't have peacock. You don't have peacock? No. I don't have a need for peacock because now they put that on YouTube TV too. Might as well just put Netflix on YouTube TV. Just charge me. We got, we're getting to the point where YouTube TV is just becoming, you know, the right, like the dish network of TV where they just throw everything in
there and then charge you a billion dollars. Like we're just going around in a circle here. It would be convenient to have that all bundled just in one play. Well, then it's going to be $300 a month. It's true. I'm already paying that for everything though anyway. It just then just comes out in one chunk. Yeah. That's a good point. You don't have to go through and unsubscribed everything. True. Hey, if you get Netflix, how many, I mean, they're going to be multiple games on Netflix. I hope so. Here we go. How many games on Netflix? Five of them this year? Is there, is there any other sports that are on Netflix? Because I know they've done the boxing events in different things. Yeah. Baseball. I don't know if there's, we got some baseball. Now, yeah, but you may have missed it the rest of the year. I don't don't play out baseball. No. I don't think so. Okay. Thank you. Have a good one. All right. Well, we'll see how it goes later on this evening. San Francisco and the LA Rams live from Sydney, Australia. Tell you what the Rams were looking a little tired getting off the plane yesterday. They're in Melbourne, aren't they? Melbourne? Is it Melbourne? I think so. Not Sydney? I'm pretty sure it's. You know, you see that
stadium they're playing in is like seats over 100,000 people? Yeah, it's enormous. That's awesome. That's cool. That's going to be a fun atmosphere. It'll be cool. A cabin. Melbourne. Yeah. I'm very interested to see how the Rams look because I just, I don't know if I'm buying, getting there the day before. It doesn't make sense to me. I don't know. We're going to see. We're going to find out, but they did look really tired when they were coming off the plane. Did you see what they did? Those kind of interesting. So they leave the, like yesterday or whatever, two days ago. So they, first of all, they chartered a luxury, like a much nicer charter plane than you normally would. Okay. So the guys have jet blue plane. Yeah. So these guys, jet blue plane, we're pulling out all the stops. Fellas, we put the Southwest plane in the hangar. We're going to take the jet blue plane. I'm telling you guys, there are screens on the back of the chairs. You can watch movies.
That's right. So they all have their own space, like in first class, and they can lay flat and go to sleep and all of that. Then they also said that the flight was maybe longer, but they only went up to 5,000 feet. They did, is that, does that sound right? No, you'd crash if you were at 5,000 feet. It's only a mile. You're going? So they went up, maybe it was 5,000 feet fewer than they normally do. Okay. Okay. That's how you put it. They were 75 feet off the ground, right? So it took them three months to get there. They were in a helicopter. So they don't go up so high, so it's not as tough on your body getting there. That right. Yeah. I'm serious. This is what they said. And they did something where the humidity and the plane was better. They're taking all these. They're all in red lights, therapy, cryogenic chambers. I'm telling you, search this. It's like their plan to do this was fascinating. They would go from the ice bath in the back of the plane, get immediately out, run all
the way to the front of the plane where they'd get into the sauna that was in there. Exactly. And they would just go back and forth every 15 minutes to make sure that they're ready to rock and roll. I'm telling you, this is big. Yeah. Oh, I guess we'll see how it works out for the LA Rams. There's a double decker Airbus A380. Okay, here we go. The A380 Plano has for a cabin altitude of 5,000 feet. That's where that came from compared to listen to this 8,000 on a regular passenger point. Okay. This according to Yahoo, this combined with the plane's high humidity and lack of sound should have made sleeping relatively easy for the Rams to come by. Wow. This is this is what the what I'm going to leave them to the sports science shows right here. Exactly. All right, good for the LA Rams. We'll see how that turns out for them. 6.35 pm kickoff the Rams. Three and a half point favorite as they take on the San Francisco 49ers later on this evening. More college football comes
your way and it is next BYU Utah. Even maybe a little bit about Utah state. We'll see. I'm just going to see how that one goes. Starting at 6.E turn on ESPN radio and on ESPN 2. Cougar Sports is your home for all things Cougars weekdays on 103 9 and 98 3 ESPN. The fan you're listening to Bryson Bienucci on 103 9 and 98 3 ESPN. The fan. Tell me the Bryson Bienucci podcast wherever you get your podcast today. 729 back at it on Bryson Bienucci. We're going to talk some college football BYU in Arizona. Get underway this upcoming weekend. Arkansas and Utah up at Rice Echo Stadium under the lights. Some big time college football comes your way right here in the state of Utah. We are live in our downtown Salt Lake City Santa Quinn Ford Studios.
As we get you ready for those big matchups. I'm Bryson alongside Jordan Bienucci. You can always hit us on that. Sig Frieden Jensen text in line at 877 353 0 700 stay tuned for your chance to win a pair of tickets to Weezer coming up a little bit later on in the program. Jordan Bienucci some news out of BYU football by way of Cione Mawa. An unfortunate event for Cione Mawa. He posted on his Instagram story just yesterday and it was quite a long caption of him detailing about how Saturday night he got rolled up on awkwardly during a tackle in the first quarter. Taren is MCL PCL will also finding cartilage damage in his knee. Same leg as before. Goes on to say and as Jackson Payne of the Deserat News reports that he will be out
for the rest of the season for BYU. So yet another running back goes down in another season for BYU at that position. This is why they brought in part of that depth. I think the addition of journey Tonga in the in the offseason was a big one for BYU. They had the one roster spot left. So what did Kalani Satake do right before camp the first day of fall camp. They said we're going to have this kid from Southern California straight out of the high school just in case. Yeah. And guess what? Might have been a big time move because you saw him against Utah Tech. Sure it was Utah Tech. But he looked at you look pretty formidable out there. So now it's Preston, Rex, journey, Tonga, Devon, Ekka. It's time to step up for these guys and we'll see how the depth really looks going forward, especially as Arizona comes to town coming up on Saturday. Yeah. It's that hurts obviously because I don't I'm not super confident that LJ Martin can stay healthy for a full year.
Now he had an incredible year last year and he wasn't healthy for a full year. But but yeah, that's why you bring in those guys. That hurts. I mean, yeah, there's no getting around it. That really hurts. This is the second consecutive season where Moe is dealt with the major health setback. He suffered from a compartment syndrome in 2025 which caused him to miss 10 games and nearly resulted in him losing his leg Jordan. That's insane. May have called it a day after that one. Geez. This is just tough to see some of these dudes that consistently deal with these injury situations have to deal with it again. Like that's just bad luck. You know what I mean? Just bad overall. Hopefully, Sean and Mark can make it back and be good to go and roll later on. But we'll see. He just barely underwent surgery and see what ends up happening with with Fiona Mollett. So who's your number two? You have Martin and then who's your
number two? Well, you got Preston Racks who was listed third on the depth chart. And that was heading into the Utah Tech game. So I'm sure they just shuffle them up. We can pull up the latest depth chart that was put out. So it'd be Preston Racks. Then it would be Journey Tonga. And then it would be the Von Echo. Yeah. Friend find the here we go. Release. This is three days ago. Their depth chart. Is this change how you I mean, it's changed all how you feel about them going forward? No, not too much. Because I think the guys behind them are good. And I think that as the season goes on, I think there's an opportunity actually for a De Von Echo or a Journey Tonga to be able to even pass Preston Racks to get the number two most carries for this football team. And it'll be interesting to see because as of three days ago, they had not said mentioned that Moa was out for the years. They still had them on the depth chart. So it was Martin Moan Racks. Right. And they make us slides up into that. Yeah. And we'll see what ends up happening with Moa the rest
of the way because you never know. You never know. These things are fluid. I don't assume he's going to be able to get back anytime soon. But you never know. Maybe late bowl game, maybe a run through the plan. I don't know. But a torn MCL and PCL think it takes a minute for you to get back from that. No, he's there's no way. He's done for the year. And MCL and PC there's yeah. Did he not in his and he just posted it yesterday. So they're probably putting out the depth chart on a Monday. Yeah. So they didn't want to announce anything until later on in the week. You know, yeah, there's those those competitive advantages, Jordan until until a big 12 matchup comes around and you have to put out the injury report. That's what they were waiting for. Because the injury report came out for the first time just yesterday. Yeah. So of course, they're like, hey, you see on a wait to put anything out there and tell the injury report comes out because then when the injury report comes out, you can everybody's going to know anyways. And why didn't they go the winning hammer out and just, you know, he's doubtful. Good. Now didn't winning him. They never
used doubtful or probable. It was always you are or you aren't. Yeah. It's because he was threatening dudes behind the scenes. Yeah. Well, it all makes sense now, doesn't it? That's right. Like, I know this guy is going to play. He's going to play. He, uh, we had to amp you take his leg yesterday, but I told him we told him we take his scholarship if he doesn't play. He's going to play. That's why he's on there as playing. Hoppil out there, Blackbird. See how you do. So that's a, that's a big hit for this BYU football team in terms of the depth behind LJ Martin. And it's a good thing that you got a lot of carries for your guys in game number one behind Cion and Moa. Yeah. It's a good thing because you needed that. You need to get some confidence in those dudes. And we'll see how they deal with it. Move it forward. Well, I'll just catch a little bit more on that coming up in hour number three as that comes your way at nine 20 this morning. All right, Jordan, be in the shift over to the other side of things where Utah will take on
Arkansas coming up on Saturday night. Under the lights at Rice Eccles stadium as Arkansas comes in. This one's what's the confidence right now for Utah against the team that's not supposed to be great in the SEC this upcoming season. In fact, they're going to be probably likely the worst team in the SEC. They could surprise a couple of people here and there. But this is a team that does not have the talent needed to compete at the top of the SEC for sure. What's the confidence level right now with the Utah football team heading towards Arkansas on Saturday night? Hi. I mean, if you lose Arkansas at home, that's a bad loss. I get that it's the SEC. And it's not it's a bad loss. It just it just is. I don't know that you win this game by three touchdowns. I think it's a lot closer than that. But no, you got to win this game. Arkansas is not very good. They didn't play their first half against North Alabama. Not impressive. They played
much better in the second half. But again, it was against North Alabama. It was not a real impressive showing from Arkansas. They won 31 to 14. The defense last year was dreadful for Arkansas. And I I was listening to their play by play guy. And I'm trying to remember is what it was. I think it was just in Kutcher. And he mentioned that there was nowhere to they could not get worse basically. That defense. And so we'll see he said we don't know much. We know we'll see how good they are. We'll get a real idea for how good they are on on Saturday night when they faced Utah. I don't think they know how great or not how great, but how much they've actually improved from last year. We talked to JT Wistrocile earlier in the week on Monday. Well, Tuesday, I guess it was for our big 12 hours. We always do. And JT mentioned for Utah specifically, he liked the starting defensive tackles on defensive line. But when they started to get into that depth when they started to rotate dudes in,
that's where it's they really took a step back. So unless Utah is going to run with their number one defensive tackles the entire game, which I'll tell you right now, almost impossible to do. You have to have a two deep. You have to have guys that are effective in the two deep because these guys are going to get tired at any point in time. And that at one point in time, they were using the rhino tight ends those big boys, right? Semitow longa among others at the defensive tackle position. That shows you what confidence they have in the other detacles if they're using rhino tight ends to try and shore up some of those questions they have along the defensive line. I think there will be opportunities for Arkansas to run the football. But how does the how does the rest of their offense look? We'll see. You mentioned the defensive issues. Could this one just turn out to be a shoot out and in Utah is going to have to win it going away. That would be surprising. I don't know if that's going to be the case because overall the defense is normally solid for Utah and they don't have shootouts. But if I would have said that going into a Kansas state game or a Kansas game last year,
everybody would have laughed too. And guess what? That's kind of what ended up happening. I have Kansas state ran all over this football team a season ago. So we'll see how things turn out there. But this Jordan this line has gone from a nine and a half point opening line in favor of Utah. It's crawled all the way up to 12 and a half. So that should give you that should tell you the confidence rating just amongst the general betting public at least as to where this one sits at home for Utah on a Saturday evening. Yeah. I mean, where are you? Well, Mike, our picks tomorrow. It's 12 and a half right now. Yeah, 12 and a half. I don't I don't I'm right around there. Maybe maybe a 10 point win. Maybe Arkansas wins it or not, not wins it. But maybe Arkansas covers it. Right. Maybe a 10 point win for Utah. But I don't know. I don't know if I've seen enough like I think it could be a 10 point game because Arkansas is going to score a touchdown or two. And how many touchdowns are is Utah going to score? You know what I mean? If the if the Arkansas defense
truly is that bad, I mean, they could put 35 on them. Yeah. I mean, total is 55 and a half. Well, they could yeah, they could put more than than that on them. But we don't that's why this game's interesting because we have no idea how good. It's not no idea, but we don't really know. I Utah's good. I don't know how good though. And I don't know that this game, it'll tell us a little bit. But I don't know how much it's going to tell us because we talked about this before the season start. We said, we may not know how good Utah is until October 24th when they take on Houston, maybe because I mean, you have Iowa, state and Kansas and Colorado and Utah state after this. Well, I'll tell you, we might know if they drop one of those games. Man, that's good point. No, that's very true. Then we'll know how good they are or aren't. Yeah. I mean, if they lay an egg on
Saturday, we'll have an idea. Yes, we will. Yes, we will. Arkansas comes to town in 815 PM, kick off on ESPN. Meanwhile, BYU still a seven and a half point favorite over Arizona is the wild cats come into town as well. 130 PM kick off on Fox Jordan, be a new. I will be at Pittsburgh, UCF in Pittsburgh at Acro sure stadium formerly known as Heinz Field home of the Pittsburgh Panthers watching another big 12 football game kind of featuring one football team from the big 12 and one football team from the ACC pit is a seven point favorite in that game. But I'm going to be that guy at the stadium. Got my phone out. I'll be watching BYU and Arizona because it kicks off at the exact same time. That's just bad planning, you know, that's just poor planning. Poor planning on your part. Yeah. Man, pit UCF that one stuck out to you, huh? Well, you know, there was like, you look around, not a lot of great games in the vicinity of the Pittsburgh area. That was the
best one. I take a sports bar and a TV over pit UCF. I got to be honest with you. Yeah. Yeah. You know football's football, baby. You go sit in a football stadium watching a little bit of football. No, I'm with you. I have no problem with that. Pit UC, what's the line on that game? Seven points in favor of the Pittsburgh Panthers. See, where's the respect for UCF? I was a little surprised with that. Yeah, we were asking JT Wisterson. He's higher on UCF than that. Yeah, so am I. So am I. I thought UCF would be a seven point favorite on the road. And Pittsburgh did not look good against Miami of Ohio. So we'll see what the golden nights or the nights look like. Excuse me. They're going to they're going to crucify me for saying that. Oh, wait, the calling them the golden nights. Oh, they're not the golden nights. They're just that. That in fact would be the hockey team down in Vegas. They're just the nights. Just the night. Well, don't call them central Florida geese. Don't do that either. Yep. Just UCF in the nights. That's it. Nothing else. Is that a sleeping jet? Like, do you see them UCF long term
becoming a perennial. They should be. They're the biggest university in the state of Florida. They've got like 85,000 students at UCF. So what that should translate into money at some point? Yeah. A huge living alumni base. Just like Indiana. Yeah. Should be. It's just I mean, they're the quickest growing university in terms of their athletic program going from they made the quickest jump. I think it was from like division, what division to or juco and a IA whatever it was all the way to power for football. The fastest in the country. They blew up. Now they have a ton of money. They should be great. It just hasn't translated yet. And maybe this is the year. Maybe they come out of nowhere. Maybe they're the sleeper in the big 12 that all every single year. There's always a sleeper in the big 12 that comes out of nowhere. Yeah. Is it UCF this year? Maybe I'll let you know on Saturday. If they lose the pit. No. Is that's a bet. That's not a great pit team. I'm going to let you know that right now.
Yeah. It's shocking. Not a great pit team. So we'll see how that one turns out. All right. That's a little bit of a look. It's your slate for the big 12 conference coming up this weekend. We'll continue to talk some more college football as we get into hour number two and be on coming up next. I love that this is a headline just yesterday Cleveland Brown's quarterback to Sean Watson was pulled over and cited for speeding last month. Jordan BN Uchi, he pleaded not guilty on Wednesday morning just days before the team's season opener. How about that? That's a headline right now in the NFL. It's a slow news day. Well, you know, it's not the worst thing he's ever done. It's not in the top 35 worst things he's ever done. Well, maybe maybe you'll change your mind here, but Watson, according to Cleveland.com was pulled over
on Interstate 480 and Cleveland around 830 AM back on August 26th the day before the team's final preseason game. Watson was spotted by police driving 86 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone. Does that change your mind? It does not. Not at all. Okay. Still not in the top. What was it? 35? All right. I just think that that's hilarious, but that is a headline right now around the National Football League. Anything to Sean Watson does. He's under a microscope right now. That's good stuff, fellas. It's going to keep an eye on that guy. The speeding ticket. I mean, she's that's that's a good day for a University of Georgia player right there. That's that's called kidding. That's called being cautious. He said, Hey, Clemson's got you beaten one area. Coach, I was doing 86 and a 60. I was keeping it under a honey. I don't know what like I was being very safe. Yeah. Ian Rapp report reports that Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold
awaits the result of his MRI today, but overall the initial results were encouraging short-term IR is a possibility and that is in fact what is going to happen. He will likely be placed on the short-term IR due to his hip injury. So keep an eye on the news to come out at some point today about Sam Darnold and that hip, the X-rays. Although they came back positive, were negative for any fractures? Does that make sense? They were the X-rays were negative, which is a positive. There we go. In my book, here's the Seahawks schedule upcoming. They have Arizona, that's a win. The commanders in Washington, chargers, Niners, Broncos, chiefs, you're going to need it back. Bears, and then you can take a few weeks off of the Cardinals and the Raiders. That's brutal. Gotta get Kyle Wittingham on staff so they can usher him back quicker.
Kid Wittingham on the phone. Hey, you know that contract you signed? Well, we're not going to pay unless you get back on the field. I'm calling my player Rapp. Witting sound like damn it, player Rapp. That's the last thing. What's a player Rapp? Yeah, or yeah, Union Rapp, excuse me. That's the last, that's why college coaches are like, we're in a CBA, we don't need to worry about that. Yeah, no kidding. Raiders running back, Ashton Gentile's listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday. This comes after he had a minor, wow, what's going on here? We're talking about Brock. Bowers, we're talking about these reports are just phenomenally written. The Las Vegas Raiders began Wednesday with bad news. A start-tied end Brock. Bowers reported to have minor knee injury. Okay. And he had to go get surgery for that. I'm glad that the headline shows Ashton Gentile on it. And we're talking about Brock Bowers having knee surgery. That's a great
report whoever wrote that one up. Well done, everybody. Including us. I'm joking. Ashton Gentile missed most of the preseason with an ankle sprain. So there you go. Wait, that's the news on Ashton Gentile's why he's back to practice. Oh, he is back to practice. Yeah. Okay. We got that sorted out. They really buried the lead there. They really did. The headline says, Raiders running back Ashton Gentile listed as full practice participant on Wednesday. You have to go four paragraphs down to find the information on Ashton Gentile. A lot of great information on this show. Yeah. No kidding. How long have they, have we gotten any word on AJ Brown with the ankle? Because you see he left last night with an ankle injury. I've not seen anything in terms of his ankle injury by the moment. Yeah. By the way, another missed opportunity and ended up scoring anyway. So it didn't matter. But in that first quarter, I believe when Brown was wide open, was it on the flea flicker and may under through him by 15 yards and they got bailed out with the pass interference.
Yeah. Drake May, man. Did not, I mean back to that topic. Did not look good. No, he did not. Three interceptions for Drake May and got outplayed by Drew Locke of the Seattle Seahawks. There is no update currently on AJ Brown at this moment in time. He'll give us an update, right? Yeah, he will. Let me ask you this. Will there be drama involving him and May before the seasons over? If May can't get him the football probably. Yeah, that's true. Because he had a quarterback that could get him the football previously and there still was drama and he just had a coach that barely didn't like. So Drake May can't get him the football. Yeah, I think that he's going to get a little bit upset out there. So we'll see how that all comes out in the wash. All right, 7.58 this morning, hour number two comes your way with the top headlines. That's next. Unbricing Bianuchia Thursday edition. It is September the 10th right here up in down the wash. That's front. The eight o'clock hour comes your way.
