ESPN, the fan. You're listening to ESPN radio from the Santa Quinn Ford studio of 103.9 and 983 ESPN, the fan. They weren't supposed to be here. He'll is the underdogs of sports radio in the state of Utah. Nothing is secret when these two get together from college to the pros. Bryce Larson and Jordan B and Nucci cover it all. Fire from the Broadway. You're building in downtown Somerset. You're on the crazy train with Bryce and B and Nucci in the morning on 103.9 and 983, the fan. Part of Utah's ESPN radio network. Off we go. It's a Wednesday right here on Bryce and B and Nucci. And as that camel in the commercial says, it's a hump.
As we kick off the national football league here later on this evening with the Seattle sea hawks and the New England Patriots. It's funny that they brought back that commercial. This time with Mike Trico and the NBC crew. Is that it? See it? I don't even know what was the original commercial. The original commercial, I think, wasn't it just wasn't it like an insurance commercial with the camera when he's walking around the the office and he goes, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, what day is it? Mike. That's right. Humpty. Humpty. Okay. Now see, I'm glad you know that. I don't remember that commercial. Yeah, it was a call back to whatever commercial that was. I don't know which insurance place was the original one to do it, but NBC brought it back because later on tonight, a Humpty edition of the National Football League kicks off on NBC between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. So that will come your way this
evening. A lot of other things to get into by way of college football across the state of Utah. We're getting you ready for Arizona and BYU Utah and Arkansas and more. Our friend, Eric Franston from Cash Valley, daily up in Logan, Utah is going to join us. We're going to talk about what in the world happened to Utah state as they took on Idaho state over the weekend. So he'll join us coming up at 820 this morning. And then we will talk a lot about the rest of college athletics. What's going on with LSE right now? Are they actually going to get kicked out of the SEC? Court filings have been written and submitted and there's a lot more where that came from. So we'll get into all of that and more. Let's do it. It's time for the first pitch on Bryce and BYU new chief. Today's biggest story hitting lead off on Utah's ESPN radio network. Low and on as what the
base is loaded on 12 straight pitches. You're killing me small. It is the first pitch right here on Bryce and BYU new chief. So it's brought to you by your company here in Jordan, B and new chief. Listen, we're having a little bit of car issues. Me and me and my wife, all right, her car doesn't want to accelerate. That's a problem. It is a problem because you need some acceleration these days to get on and off the freeway. So I drove to work yesterday. We got it in the shop. It's getting worked on. But in the meantime and in between time, your company here that called me up and said, Hey, heard your having some issues. We wanted off for you a shuttle. We will offer you one of our personal drivers. This is what they said this. This wasn't my words. This is their words okay. They said just like what Tiger Woods should have done. I once again, not my words, their words. They're like, we want to make sure that you're getting around where you need to be on time. Everything else like Tiger Woods without the
drama. So look, they're they've been driving me around the last 24 hours or so. Man, your company here, they do it all. They really do. They said, you strike us as possibly an alcohol acumen, bad decisions. We're going to get you a shuttle. Because we want you to be safe. They said, we offered it to the Georgia football team, but they turned us down. They turned us dead. They were they was odd how fast they turned us down. Look, you and I beyond that, you and I went to movie premiere last night. That's right. And we felt like real VIPs. I was going to say your company here helped us get those tickets from the actual filmmakers. Yeah. That we interviewed last week, last reckoning. And it was awesome. It was great. It is great. Locally made film. They did it on a budget, but you wouldn't know. It was phenomenally produced. They want to award it at Zepfest over this last weekend. And they did a fantastic job. Local made film. You got to you got to be able
to support the indie filmmakers right here in the state of Utah. Because we have a lot of talented people and the makers and the actors in the last reckoning did a phenomenal job. It was very cool. It was very cool. And then afterward we met a couple other filmmakers who are exploring an idea about sports betting. And they said, Hey, you two look like degenerate gamblers. Could we maybe ask you a few questions about sports gambling? Yeah. And we said, sure, as soon as I lay down another bit on draft Kings, hold on a minute. So actually, I am being investigated by the gaming commission myself right now. So go right ahead, ask away. All jokes. If anyone actually, you know, Bryson, be a new to your being investigated by the game. If you haven't, if you can't tell by now, very sarcastic on this program. But anyway, if you would like this to be your company here, as Foxes, this is the James, you can hit up our friend Chad Saunders, Chad dot Saunders at B way
media.com, or you could send in a text message to the text in line at 8773530 700 Jordan B new chair top headlines from the morning. And our number one story here this morning has to do not with football. No, with the expansion talk of major league baseball. That is because just yesterday, Jeff Passan, and ESPN followed up on the expansion talks and rumors around major league baseball. And not only did they say that Salt Lake City was primed to get a major league baseball team, but they said they are far ahead of the rest of the pack when it comes to how ready the city of Salt Lake is for a major league baseball team. Yeah, I mean, that's what we've been saying. I think it's it surprises people nationally who haven't been paying close attention to this and maybe even a little bit locally. But Utah's so they are. They're so far ahead. They have everything's a
done it's a done deal as far as everything in place here to to get it finished. They have the the funding they have which, by the way, I'm against using public funds for for this, but they have that set up. They have the spot for the ballpark. That's already to go. They have the ownership group ready to go. I mean, everything, it would be shocking to me if Utah did not end up with a big league team in the next five years. Yeah, I think it would as well, here's what pass and wrote on ESPN.com. It's up there for you to go and look through the entire thing. But he put Salt Lake City in the lead saying being led by big league Utah, the combined statistical areas of the 20 20 census is 2.7 million is what he puts there. It's the 28th media market. The owner, yes, they have one. It would be the Larry H Miller company, which is a whole conversation that has started in the last couple of weeks that we can talk about here in a minute. Stadium funding, yes, a
3.5 billion dollar pledge from the ownership for a 100 acre multi use development and 900 million dollars in state funding intended to cover half the cost of a stadium, which is what you were talking about just barely. Yeah, stadium side, of course, would be out at the power district says a massive site in Salt Lake City's west side that's already under construction says the details by far the most advanced potential bid. Salt Lake City is the closest scenario to a turnkey operation. The experience of the Miller family who saved the jazz from moving and shepherded them for more than three decades gives owners confidence in the stability of the bid. Those Salt Lakes media market lags. Is that true? Yeah, I feel like that's a shot directly at us. That's that's painful. Okay, passing. Let's get you on the show here. Let's talk about this. He says those Salt Lake Salt Lake's media market lags, the success of the jazz and the Utah Mammoth
Bodewell and considering all the Miller family has invested already, it's unlikely to balk at the expansion fee, which is expected to be in excess of two billion dollars, particularly after the recent sales of the Los Angeles Angels for four billion and the San Diego Padres for 3.9 billion, Salt Lake City is the favorite to snag the Western slot for a reason. Even relatively mature bids still have catching up to do. In their words to ESPN, quote, it's not enough just to have a market. You have to have people within that market that actually care about the product. And that's where Utah exceeds many of these other places. We've proved that over and over again with the mammoth, we've proved it with the jazz where the numbers, not just the media numbers, but all of the numbers, all of the box seats and the sponsorships. That's a key one and the sponsorships. We'll talk about that in a minute are all more
on par with a larger market. And I think that's one of the things that makes Utah really unique and really fascinating idea. It's why we've gotten so much attention. I know it's why the league is looking very seriously at us. That's from the governor himself Spencer Cox, who is on the big Lee Utah advisory board. That is the full write up on Salt Lake City on ESPN.com from Jeff Passon at this moment in time, Jordan. Yeah, I mean, it's that sums up everything. I think we we kind of knew. We'll get into the sponsorships and corporate dollars are really interesting. But I do think Cox is right in this. There is there will be fan support. Like it it it amazes me. I've lived here forever. And it still amazes me the enthusiasm that there is for every sports team in this in this state, including the mammoth. The mammoth are a great example, because this was not a hockey town. No, they're just
weren't that many, you know, they're plenty, you know, a fair amount of hockey fans here. But there weren't that many. And the mammoth are selling out every night. It's just and I know part of it. We'll see how what it's like in 10 years when it's not a novelty anymore. But I still think it's going to be huge. I don't see that enthusiasm waning that much. It's it's it's BYU and Utah selling out the stadiums for games against FCS teams. It's it's just it's remark it's the jazz last year that were an absolute joke on the floor. And they're still getting big, great crowds at the Delta Center. So I fan support wise, it'll be there for baseball now baseball is a whole other animal because it's 81 games. And it's a 40,000 seat stadium. But I just I'm not betting against fan support here. It's just crazy. How enthusiastic people are. They're absolutely will be fan support. That is it. Look, baseball will thrive in this market. No doubt
about it. I'm not worried. One bit about baseball struggling here in the state of Utah. There's so many baseball fans and it's just it is part of the Utah culture, even though we haven't had a major league baseball team to root forever. Yeah, it will thrive and survive very nicely. Where I do get a little bit worried is not even about baseball at all. It's about our already established products here in the state of Utah. And where I think some people don't necessarily realize there might be a trade off to having baseball. If you bring baseball to the state of Utah, some of the things that you currently enjoy might not thrive as much because Jordan Be an U. T. for 3.5 million people who live in the state of Utah. And if it really is 2.7 that they're going off of that they think are going to be the support base for this major league baseball team. That's an even smaller number. But the corporate sponsorship dollars that are already being
chewed up around the state of Utah. And now imagine the demand for it. I think Matt Brown made a really good point when he brought up Ocho Capital specifically. And there's a lot of specifics that go into this and a lot of intricacies of thought process that went into these different deals. Listen, Utah has 500 million dollars that they need to somehow figure out how to pay back 500 million plus because I'm sure there's some interest right working with some interest around. So not only does Utah, the University of Utah need to go out and find sponsorship dollars to offset a 500 million dollar capital infusion to their athletic department. How do they do that? We're not talking about rich donors giving NIL. If one more person tweets at me about how the NIL is not going to be affected. We're not talking about NIL. So stop talking about NIL. Okay. This isn't donations. This is corporate sponsorship dollars.
This is Delta partnering with now the major league baseball team. And guess what? Yeah, Delta has a lot of money, but they're not going to shed their money to every single school in the state of Utah. If they used to give it to Utah Valley, Utah state, BYU and Utah, guess who suffers now? They're going to pull that money away probably from Utah State, Utah Valley, maybe even Utah to take whatever they were spending there and spend it on the major league baseball team. Yeah. So therefore those three schools miss out. And now the major league baseball team is getting that corporate sponsorship money. It's the same thing with the dobi. It's the same thing with all of these big time companies that are going to move their money around, possibly take it away from your favorite school Utah state fans. I don't know why Utah state fans are in my mention, mention saying, Oh, who cares about Utah tech? I guess what?
I'm not talking about Utah tech. Okay. I was using it as an example, but none of us can see past. Nobody can read between the lines these days. You got to read past it. I'm talking about Utah State here. Okay. And that beautiful crumble money that just saved you from going under in the pack 12 deal. Guess where the crumble money's going when major league baseball shows up, my friends. That's not good riding on the wall for our favorite collegiate athletics programs who whose coaches are already begging. They're begging for money to feed these kids. Jordan being a new chief. Yeah. It's there's only so. Here's the thing is as soon as baseball gets here, just like with if the NBA were coming or the NFL were coming, it is already ahead of all those other
sports of college sports. Because first of all, even with BYU and Utah, you're only get if I'm a corporate sponsor. Okay. I can sponsor any college team, but I'm really only getting their fan base as far as exposure goes to my brand. Why would I do that when I can spend more on first of all, it's major league baseball. So it's a bigger deal already. It's a professional team. And then number two is everybody's a fan of it in Utah. It's not that the, it is not broken up into separate fan bases. Like if I'm a Utah state corporate sponsor, yeah, it's way less expensive to sponsor Utah state, but I'm getting a tiny audience relative to what I would get with major league baseball. So that I'm with you. That's my really my only concern about a big league team here is not the fans. The fans will show up. I
just, I just they will. It's how much, yeah, how many corporate dollars are there really to go around when we, when it comes down to it? Because you make the point, the good point right now is already right now schools are hurting. Not BYU and Utah so much, but well, you taught to a certain degree. It's a reason they went with Ocho Capital, but everybody else is just scraping by trying to get whatever they can. You bring in another professional team here. Good luck. I mean, they're, it's going to be tough. It is going to be tough. And that's why I'm just warning people out there that yes, it is a trade off in my opinion. I put it out on X yesterday and I've gotten just dismantled. A lot of a lot of replies over on that one on X. Yeah, I got to read some of these because I quote tweeted a video of Lance Anderson, the head coach of the Utah Tech football team explaining that he can't feed his kids. He can't feed his football players. He can't even find a place to
practice down there at Utah Tech. Now listen, I understand Utah Tech is in St. George. I've lived here my whole life. I know where Utah Tech is. Okay. Ladies and gentlemen, I understand you don't even know where they are. You idiot. But if you go look at their corporate sponsorship pages, you tell me how many of those companies on their corporate sponsorship page are northern Utah companies versus Southern Utah companies and where they're based out of. Okay. And you tell me there's absolutely zero crossover between the amount of money that's spent here in northern Utah versus Southern Utah from these companies. I'm not going to believe you. Go look at the page. I also put it in the mentions of that tweet at large and sports over on X. If you want to go and check it out. There is crossover. Okay. Between these programs and some of you are making the argument, well, none of us care about Utah Tech football. And that's fine. You don't have to care about Utah Tech football. That's not what I'm saying. But you do care about BYU. You do care about Utah and you do
care about Utah State. Some of you that listen to this program care about Utah Valley as well. Even weaver state. Those five schools. S U U. We have S U U. Fans text. That's true. Those five six seven schools. They're in trouble. They're in trouble right now because not only can they not find the revenue sharing. Which is why Kalani Satake is out here talking about resources to keep up with the rest. And that's kind of a little bit of a different situation there. Now I would say there are people make the argument that BYU has the money. They just don't want to spend the money. Okay. That's fair. BYU does have a lot of money rolling in there. So maybe it's not necessarily BYU. But they would love more corporate sponsorship money. Like to be honest with you, if they had more corporate sponsorship money that they could just release to everybody. Then I don't think Kalani is complaining in the off season about not having a resources. That's corporate sponsorship money that goes directly into the athletic department. That is all
about revenue sharing. That's where the revenue sharing comes from is corporate sponsorship money. Not NIL. We're not talking about NIL guys. So stop bringing it up. This isn't just donations where a billionaire walks over and says, Hey, Kauai Leonard, you want a landscaping deal? Here you go. Here's seven seven million dollars. No, we're not talking about NIL. So stop talking about NIL. I'm talking about revenue sharing. I'm talking about corporate sponsorship dollars where corporate corporations actually pay to advertise inside athletic departments and they get the in-game reads and they get the airplane throwing competition so that you can go on your favorite trip at LeVell Edward Stadium. It's the pest control. Thank goodness they're not doing the singing this year where they put the bug mask on and they have a player singing and they have to guess who, oh my goodness. It's at right second stadium. Welcome out to Utah defense. Brought to you by Lessons or whatever. So that entire thing is what we're talking about here.
And guess what? The starting line-up so for your favorite major league baseball team has to be sponsored by something. It's going to be there's a whole TV production over there. I don't know if you've noticed but Utah Valley University sponsors the boards on the Utah mammoth broadcast. Those are marketing dollars that are being given to the SEG media group to advertise during the TV broadcasts of Utah mammoth games. That is a corporate sponsor of the Utah mammoth. And UVU is handing them that money. They have decided not to spend it in other places except for with the Utah mammoth. That's going to happen. It's going to happen with other companies. Your favorite burrito place down the street. One of them is going to decide, hey, we want to be the, I don't know, the Costa Vida wave of the game out there at the beautiful Power District baseball. And guess what?
They're going to have to decide, well, we can keep giving this to Utah State football and have it be up there at the Maverick Stadium or the, the lob, if you will, up there in Logan. Or we can take it away from Logan because we like our cross and we'll go to the major league baseball team and we'll give it to them instead. But we can't spend our money in both places because we don't have $6 million to spend. We only have three. And you know what? What's interesting to me to see if this happens is right now, let's use Utah football for an example for, or Utah State, either one. Right now, let's say a sponsor, a sponsorship up there because of the eyeballs on that on those teams is worth X amount of dollars. Let's say it just for, you know, $10 million for whatever. Well, now if you bring in a baseball team, a major league baseball team, does that not change
the market a little bit as far as, hey, that sponsorship at Utah State or Utah, that's no longer worth $10 million to me because now there's more competition as far as like, there's a major league baseball team in town. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like, I'm not going to spend $10 million for a college football team when I have that has a, a partial fan base out of the entire population of Utah where the major league baseball team, everyone loves the major league baseball team. And by the way, it's major league baseball. Like that, that's the other thing you have to remember is, is, is popular as college football here is and it will be, it's king. It is still, it's divvy. The fans are divvyed up between different schools. And also to be honest with you, think of it this way, if I'm a corporate sponsor and I go, yeah, I can sponsor you when they, you know, I'm, I'll get my name out there when Baylor comes into play Utah or, or wait, or can I sponsor the
baseball team when Aaron judge in the Yankees come in? Like, it's just a different level to me. My highlights can be on sports center when Aaron judge steps up to the plate. And my company is behind home plate on the back. And it's the biggest thing in baseball because the umpire steps out from a home plate and points at the pitcher and says, Hey, put your hat on correctly, sir. Hey, stop with the distractions up there and put your hat on correctly. Yeah. Or it's a, it's the stupid uniform advertisement. It's, I can put my patch on the majorly baseball sleeve there. Or I can put it on, you know, Utah, the Utah health on, you know, what I'm saying? Yeah. And it could be either featured in the world series. Exactly. Or possibly the big 12 championship. Exactly. Which one you get to choose? And it's different for everybody. Some people will choose the big 12 championship game, depending on how, how they see the value in
that versus the world series. And if the baseball teams even good enough, yeah, I mean, it all depends on how that shakes out. But you get the idea here. All I'm trying to show with my tweet that I put out at Larsen sports on X yesterday, which is a quote tweet of Lance Anderson talking about the challenges that he's faced at Utah Tech already. I said, this right here is why bringing major league baseball to Utah would be devastating to the already established schools in the state. I'm not saying devastating to you to the baseball team. I'm not saying Utah shouldn't have a baseball team. Not even saying they shouldn't bring it. I'm saying, understand the tradeoff that we will have when bringing major league baseball to the state of Utah and the effects it will take on with the local schools that are trying to fight for that money right now. Especially, listen, if this was 10 years ago in NIL and revenue sharing wasn't a thing, probably wouldn't be that big of
a deal. Probably wouldn't even bring this up. Jordan B. Anucci, but the arms race for more and more money and the coaches that constantly go public and say, I don't have enough resources. I can't even feed my kids. We get kicked out of the practice facility every other week for the Frisbee team. We don't have enough resources to compete with the oil money out in Texas. Guess what's going to happen when major league baseball comes up? More of those resources are going to dry up for these teams because they either they're going to be splitting the pie with them and Costa Vita stays on, but now they can only spend two million instead of five million because the other three's got to go to major league baseball because they want to be on home plate when the replay happens. Then that's what happens. The pie just got one piece smaller. You just you just slice that pie a little bit thinner for everybody here in the state of Utah. And I'll tell you what, it's going to hurt a little bit more. Now, there was one suggestion, Brian Brown. He tweeted at me
at Brown Bear SLC. He said he doesn't he says he'll gently disagree and I agree. Okay, I appreciate that. You can gently disagree with me. That's very nice of you. He said, I think more eyeballs on the sport is a good thing. And if some bigger sponsors leave to go to the MLB team, it opens the door for smaller sponsors to join with the colleges and below. Okay, there is a little bit of that. Here's the problem is that spots the smaller sponsors don't bring the bigger dollars. And the more smaller sponsors you have to line up, that's more man hours that your employees have to go out and do inside the athletic department. And I'll tell you what, there are already short staff during being a duty. They're already firing people. Yeah, there are already letting people go that they can't afford to pay because the sponsors aren't paying as much money these days. Well, and that's the thing is a good it's a good point from both of you because it's there, there's not a shortage of businesses in the state. But there is a shortage of businesses when it comes
to this discussion that have millions upon millions upon millions of dollars to spend on marketing. Or Utah Tech, there are plenty of businesses in St. George. There's that great barbecue place down there. That great barbecue place though isn't the same as Delta or you know, as what we're talking about. So you're right, you're just dealing with smaller companies for fewer dollars. And yeah, I mean, if you really want to get into it, you mentioned it, the man hours it takes to from an athletic department standpoint to line up these marketing deals for just a little bit of money. It's just that the margins are so thin already for though for Utah tech type schools for non-bio-i-u or Utah. And it'll just get thinner. There is a monetary cutoff amount that schools will look at and say, this is not worth our time to put in this type of money, or this type of hours and work towards a deal that's going to bring us in this type of money.
Just can't be spending your money. You can't be spending so much time fishing for the small fish. You've got to go out and find some of the bigger fish to be able to make it worth your time. And that's just the reality right now in college athletics. And my whole point was not to like rain on anybody's parade. I know it's not nobody likes to talk about the negative effects. You hate baseball. And I love how people go from zero to 100 real quick on that. Whether saying I shouldn't bring, I got a text, I got text messages yesterday sending me the tweet saying, Hey, I don't hate anything. I'm just sharing with people the realities of what will come when Major League Baseball comes to this market. And I just, well, I'm just, look, and I'm not meaning to be overly negative. I'm just helping people to understand the reality of where we sit right now in today's age of college athletics. I don't know. Jimmy Chesh responded to you and said, so Utah tech is already not getting any money because of the jazz mammoth BYU in Utah. And we should protect them and not bring in a new baseball team. I don't think you understand how economics
work. You're right. Thanks, Jimmy. Domaz. I added the dumbass. Swoop for Heisman says, how do Michigan Ohio State Georgia, etc., continue to compete and bring in funds? I'm not sure. I don't know what that actually has to do with what we're talking about. Well, well, to be fair, what we're talking to, I think what he's saying is all those places have Major League Baseball. Yeah. And guess what? Most of those places are bigger markets than Salt Lake, maybe Cincinnati and Cleveland are the only ones that are kind of around Salt Lake. Right. But there's the whole conversation. It's a good point that has brought up. But if you think that Utah and BYU are on the same level as Michigan, Ohio State and Georgia, I don't know if I'd agree with that. Well, yeah, in Georgia, Salt Lake City is not at the Atlanta Metro area. That's a major. It's a top five market. Exactly. There's a lot of corporate dollars
there. Yeah. Let's see. What else we got here? This is good stuff. I got to find some really, really insulting ones is what I really enjoy. Yeah, we're going to deny the MLB in Utah to quote, save Utah Tech football. The effort you talking about, thanks, Chaz Lemon. How about this one? SC Media LLC saying ridiculous. Utah Tech is four hours south of Salt Lake, not even close to the same demos for advertisers. Go. All right, check out the corporate sponsorship page. As we as we all know, corporate sponsors only advertising the cities where they're located. That's right. Okay, did check out the corporate sponsorship page on the Utah Tech website where they're not all from St. George. Actually, there's maybe only like a third of those that are actually in like in St. George, based in St. George. That's exactly. Also, I'm not just talking about Utah Tech people. Like, why are we fixated on it? Yeah, that's the Utah Tech
coach that's talking, right? I said all of the schools in the state of Utah are going to suffer because of this. Yeah. The MLB team is going to pull money away from these schools. They're literally going to come in. Their salespeople are going to go out in the streets. This is unfortunate part about this. And they are going to go to the corporate corporate dollars that are already spending in the market. And they're going to take them. They're going to take them away. Or they're going to split the pie. They're going to say, okay, you're spending five million with them. Give three to us and they can have the two. That's the way this works, Jordan. Be a new chief. Yeah. I'm just I'm just sharing the reality of it. I'm sorry. I'm the bad guy. You're such a downer. I don't understand. I mean, like, what do you what's your problem? You hate democracy too. You hate baseball. What do you freaking communist? So un-American. Hate baseball. Just disgusting. How dare you? Here's my favorite one. Ah, yes, because Utah Tech and St. George, because they have a tiny fan base to move from D2 to D1 way too fast, that means the Wasatch
front doesn't have enough money to support and MLB. There is plenty of money and money will come. Sorry, Utah Tech. An MLB team is more important. That was my favorite response. I think you and I should pick it over at the power district with signs that just say save Utah tech football. If you bring it this baseball team, so help us. It's over. I will never be able to see my beloved trailblazers get their behinds whooped in the big sky. How about this one from my friend, McCade Pearson saying, why is the sixth best football team in the state entitled to money? Could be going to a professional team. It is just I'm flabbergasted by the lack of rating comprehension. It on Twitter. And then there's a reply to that one and says, dude, licks windows. What does that even mean? At lightning barks says dude, licks, windows.
Sounds like some sort of fetish. Interesting. So that's what's happening over on X. Just for bringing up the fact that money is going to be rerouted to other places. People are not enjoying my commentary this morning at large and sports over on the X machine. You know, something interesting too is Matt Brown came out. We're talking about dollars to Utah state, Utah tech, Utah Valley that could get repurposed. Yeah. Matt Brown came out on Twitter and said he could see even Utah, the University of Utah having issues. Oh, really? Yeah. If Major League Baseball comes to Salt Lake, are there haters in his mentions? I bet. I don't know. To be fair, smarter people follow Matt Brown. You have a lot of dummies. I'm just alienating everyone. They're all going to continue to tune into this pro. I'm not saying our listeners are listeners are not I'm saying the Twitter people are nuts. No, our here's what Matt Brown put out on Twitter
for your reference. He says I think professional baseball could absolutely work in Salt Lake. But I'd be worried about this happening if I were at the University of Utah. More pro sports competing for limited corporate sponsorship dollars could make the future outro math even harder. In my opinion. Yeah. There you go. Not a lot of haters in his mentions. I'll tell you what, yeah, his mentions. It's a lot of great point Matt. Matt good stuff. Man, I don't know who's following you, Bryce. Matt has a lot of respectful follower. A lot of people just, you just a hater. Of course, there's enough money for Major League baseball here. Well, that's not what I was saying, but okay. All right. We'll move on here. 737 right here on Bryson, be a new cheek. You can hit us on the sick, free gents and text in line. We're going to call an audible right here. Jordan, be a new cheek. We do have to get to the NFL blitz this morning. It's a mandatory. The NFL starts later on tonight. So we'll go straight to the national football league and the NFL blitz coming up next, but we will still hit those text. The Broncos are looking to take the next step toward us super bowl this fall. The only place you can hear the Broncos in Utah is 103 9 and 98 3 ESPN the fan. Welcome back to Bryson, be a new cheek in the morning. It's time for the NFL blitz on 103 9 and 98 3 ESPN. The fan. here in just a couple of minutes. We do have to talk about the national football league. It is day number one around the NFL. So Jordan, be a new cheek. If you were injured in an auto or motorcycle accident that wasn't your fault, call 8013555550 or go to Utah Advocates.com. You deserve an advocate. The Seattle Seahawks will take on the fighting Mike Vrables later on tonight. Longside. Oh wait, no, she won't be there 620 PM mountain time on NBC this evening. Seattle a 3 point favorite as the NFL is back. We are so back on a Wednesday evening. Jordan, be a new cheek. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to see some some good football. No offense to the last couple weeks of college football. There have been some good games. There've been a lot of bad games and a
lot of weird stuff that's happened in college football. Could you imagine if that clock thing happened in the national football league? Oh my gosh. Every phenomenal thing. I mean, we did have the replacement reps in the national football league and it did that did happen. That's the thing. Yeah, that was bad. That was really bad. Any mention we talked about this yesterday a little bit. Over under on the mentions of Diana Rousini and Mike Vrable tonight. I think it's like one. Do you think it's Floreo in the pre game show or do you think it's actually on the real broadcast in game? That's a good quote. You know what? In the in game, they may not even mention it. But Floreo, that someone will. That is a storyline. Don't you think? Yes, Floreo is distracted a little bit. Well, the team is. They absolutely should mention it and they should mention it like once or twice. They don't need to beat it to death. But yeah, it's absolutely. I'm saying they may not mention it because the NFL may be like, hey, don't talk about this because that's what the NFL does.
You know what I mean? They don't want you to talk about stuff that makes them look bad. Okay, we'll see over under on how many times Mike Vrable and Diana Rousini here mentioned later on this evening on the NBC Telecast of the Patriots and the Seahawks. Well, Jordan Behnucci, another one comes your way tomorrow night live from Australia. How about this? The 49ers in the Rams. Now the Rams will be without their big time playmaker as he did not make the trip with them and Aaron Donald who came back from retirement. They said they want to give him some more time to get ready. Who would have thought missing the entirety of training camp would really set you back as a football player? Little bit. So he won't be out there for the LA Rams. The other day Adam Schaeffler did mention that he thinks Pukka Naku is going to play and he's slated to play because the suspension has not been levied against Pukka but yet a suspension could come later which is kind of strange by the NFL. Why would you suspend a dude mid season? Why not just suspend him off the bat? Is there going to be a suspension at all?
I don't know. The only thing I can think of is they're still investigating something and can't come to a conclusion. I don't know. Okay. This is our very well-could-be-the-case. Thursday nights games going to be on Netflix. That means I need a place to watch it so if anybody has any takers of a traveling sports watcher, you know, I'm available. Okay. Just going to throw that out there Jordan. Yeah, come on. He doesn't have Netflix. He's one of the three people in the country that doesn't have Netflix. No, me and Ari Temkin. Remember what I already came on? He was not happy with the content that Netflix is putting out. He says. Ari wasn't happy with the with the Domer mini series. He was not happy with it and he expressed that on this very show. So me and Ari Temkin will probably go and find some place to watch it later on tonight. All right. Later on tomorrow night. Excuse me. That is the 49ers and the Rams.
Then Sunday has a full-slated games. Jordan, be new to you. I will be in Pittsburgh. Watching the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Atlanta Falcons this coming Sunday. I'm very excited. It'll be like my fourth time in the city of Pittsburgh watching an NFL football game. Phenomenal crowd. But it's tough being an opposing fan, which is what I will be because unfortunately I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan. My dad's a Steelers fan. So the tradition in the family is when the Falcons and the Steelers beat up no matter where it's at we go. Wow. So we've been to Atlanta multiple times. We've been to Pittsburgh multiple times. We go. So we're going again and I might make it back alive this time. A little bit older, a little bit stronger. I can hold my own now. Those Pittsburgh fans better be ready for what's coming. I can't wait to see on Monday morning those sweet videos they put out on Twitter of you getting beaten to death by a large woman in section 225 while her while
her while her morbidly obese husband or beer on you. She just wails. Whales on you. Yeah. That's those are the good. That's why when I know I'm like oh the NFL's back is on my timeline. I'm just getting fan fights NFL fan fights up in the stand. Class class class class. I'll tell you what it happens. You know I've seen my fair share of NFL fan fights. Oh it's impressive. I'm not going to lie. It's impressive. It's impressive. How many people get into fights in the stands of NFL football games? It actually is. Like it it's it's amazing actually how many how often that happens. All right Jordan Beanuts you want or two more things that I want to bring up. There's been some reporting across the National Football League on a couple of different deals. How about the Baker Mayfield? Three year 165 million dollar extension with the Bucks. Apparently going public with your concerns about how your organization is trash gets you paid as the highest buck in your ever.
Hey worked out for. Yeah I did. Honestly this is great for the Bucks. They get it done before the season starts. That's no longer a distraction. This this was the Bucks needed to get this done. That's an impressive contract for Mr. Baker Mayfield which is he's 31 years old. What's going on with the Adam Shaftar thing? You've seen this back and forth with the Gonzalez controversy that's been happening completely missed. So I guess he goes on the Pat McAfee show. Stocking about the Patriots defensive back and he says the two sides are not even close on the deal. There's no there they're what up whether it's the length in the contract or the number they're not they're just not even close. Their world's a part is essentially the way he put it. Jordan Beanuts you just hours later. I think it was Ian Rappaport that announced that the Patriots had gotten a deal done. Yeah just hours later and Adam Shaftar was completely off and now people are saying once again Adam Shaftar and maybe we go back to the ESPN conversation because we had
the same thing with Ramona Shelburn interviewing Bomber the Clippers the whole Kawaii Leonard thing when they put out that report early in August and just were completely wrong about the NBA not coming down on the Clippers. Low and behold a massive massive penalty came down on the Clippers. So what's going on here? Why don't I know what's going on because Shaftar isn't usually wrong. Like that. He's locked in. I don't put Shaftar well. Shaftar is not shams. Shaftar they're not I'm they're both not like hardcore journalists. I'm not saying but Shaftar man he really does get information quickly and puts it out there and usually very accurate. So that does surprise me. Well Christian Gonzalez just got a record setting $135 million deal from the Patriots and Adam Shaftar said they were worlds apart just the other day on the Pad Mac of the show. So there you go. I know I'm just saying that surprises me. Hey you win some
you lose some I guess. Shaftar's not happy. Shaftar's buying a third cell phone after that happened. Well he's sending another story currently to a GM saying is this good Mr. GM? All right there you go. There's your NFL blitz for the morning. It's always brought to you by the advocates. All right Jordan being itchy. There's there's quite a few. There is quite a few text messages. Should we hit him right now or should we take a break and come back hit those text messages? All right. Got a couple of them that are here on the Sigfried and Jensen text in line. Gavin Scott checks in with this video that Sigfried and Jensen text in line saying could there be any dollars that are currently not deployed into Utah football programs that may be interested in baseball that we're not considering. Absolutely. You think so? Yeah. I think there are. I think there are because right now there's a lot of silicon slope startups that are coming up and maybe they feel the demographic is a little bit different in major league baseball than it would be with the college football teams or maybe there's maybe there's a transplant Jordan
being itchy. Maybe there's somebody who moved from let's say the Bay area who is a tech bro right that moves from San Francisco was a big time giant sky right San Francisco giants. He moves here maybe they're like well let's say Utah or BYU football approaches him and goes hey dude you've got a great doorbell camera system. You want to advertise that at the football games because well you know not really like we're here in the Utah market all the stuff. Well major league baseball comes in that goes that guy goes oh I used to go to giants games all the time. Yeah what I yeah we want to advertise with your major league baseball team that's always possible is it is it a large amount is it a huge number probably not as big as we need it to be but it's possible that that could be the truth right there. Yeah it's good question. I don't know I'm with you there maybe there are the good thing about Utah right now is there are new companies sprouting out sprouting up constantly
it seems like yeah the as far as that goes economic wise we're in a good spot. The you know the other part of that the flip side is the fan aspect of it. It is interesting. The you mentioned transplant companies. I think about transplant people moving here who there if you're a transplant moving to Utah you're probably not going to be a big Utah or BYU football fan right because it's just you have no ties to it. It doesn't make a lot of sense. You will those spend that money on major league baseball. Same with like the man or the jazz but but absolutely I just think yeah those so we're talking about different demographics. I think it's a ton of overlaps a ton but there is yeah maybe a little a few distinctive groups. I would agree with that. Got another text message popping in from Jake Deets the movie guy saying quote of the day from Jordan this morning. I'm
flabbergasted. I'm just flabbergasted by the lack of reading comprehension on Twitter. He says is this Jordan's first day online. You know I had higher standards. I thought I thought your replies would be a little better. You make good points. You make good points all around. Nate Mattis checks in with us this morning saying if the Bay Area doesn't have enough funds to keep the athletics. Utah doesn't have enough to keep the high level football and baseball. A little bit different here. A little bit different. The qualm in the Bay Area was a lot of the public funding conversation. We're talking about taxpayer money going towards building stadiums. So it's a little bit of a different conversation in terms of that. I think the corporate sponsorship money. There's enough in the Bay Area. So yeah you move into a different conversation when you talk about why the A's left why golden state left why a lot of those teams have moved and I guess you know golden state still in the Bay Area but leaving Oakland specifically. Yeah. Yeah that's a lot of taxpayer money conversation that they didn't
want to give up that you know Vegas is shelling out and we're going to give up $800 million to build the stadium as well. Yeah and it is interesting because like even the it is it's just different because for instance the Bay Area Cal has a hard time bringing in money like like you would think how is that there's so much money there how is that possible they're not that popular it's not as far you know what I mean when they're competing with pro sports teams and so does it any point in Utah to do the pro sports teams end up overshadowing or you know like the college football teams I don't think so. Right. It's just different here but yeah it's a good point. He also checks in with another tweet which or a text which made me chuckle in that last one. He said also all the smooth brains bringing up other markets are talking about big teams and other markets but about the other teams in those states University of Ohio Toledo Georgia Tech they all suffer because there isn't
enough money to go around says Utah and BYU should be okay but Utah State weaver and tech will all suffer. Yeah I think so. Yeah it's a good point and I mean once again in Atlanta specifically I think there is enough money for Georgia Tech and Georgia State even because they're still operating but here in a smaller market you get six division one football teams and it gets a little hairy around here. Yeah people got to remember this isn't we are a really really small market compared to most other big league towns that's what we're talking about here. Yeah so the comparison is really hard to make Sean Harris checks in with us at 877353 0700 on the sick Frieden Jensen text in line. He says I want MLB in Utah and I want Utah to make sure the energy doesn't stop at the stadium gates. If we can invest in baseball let's just let's invest just as boldly in our schools let's do both. I'm all in on that as well the problem is if you're a leader of the company and you can split up
your marketing dollars with a pie chart let's say you only have five million to spend how are you going to spend it Jordan being Uchi that's the question you have to ask yourself because right now that's what marketing teams here in the state of Utah are asking themselves. Okay now we have all these options number one with all of the other competition guess what prices go down when it was just the Utah Jazz in town they were charging premium rates my friends yeah they were up there going were the only show in town that can get you national exposure. You got two mountain less conference teams over here make the Las Vegas pole every other day so the jazz were like yeah you come on board this is the this is the number now with the mammoth that's come down now with two power four teams that's come down even further now with major league baseball guess what another option opens up less money for that sponsorship because they're competing against each other now for all of that
money here in the market so how are you going to spend your money if you are have the pie chart and you're that CEO that's deciding on your marketing spend that's the big question that everybody has asked themselves and if you're a Utah grad maybe you're given the majority to Utah because that's you know you have that a legend but if you're not if you're dude from the Bay Area that made a doorbell system your big giants fan you're going with major league baseball big doorbell money it's talking about that's right big doorbell it's true though I mean like that's what we talk about all the again yeah this is not we're not talking about people that have grown up here like you said that are BYU or Utah alums necessarily talking about everybody else fans and corporations what because I think a lot of I don't know a lot of the money I don't know if a lot but some of the money that these colleges bring in the selling point is hey you have an allegiance to this school even some of the corporate dollars right that I mean BYU is a good example there's a lot of money
down there from people that own businesses but that have been BYU fans are willing to BYU yeah and so that will remain the same I would think right it's yeah it's everything else keep those text messages rolling in at 877 3530 700 the other thing you can do send us a voice note on those text messages if you want to hear your voice right here on this very show will play it on the radio send us a voice memo in a text message all you have to do is hit the record button on your text message record it hit send we'll be able to play it right here on Bryce and be a new to once again that's 877 3530 700 on the sick freed and jensen text in line all right we got to take a break hour number two comes your way the eight o'clock hour our friend Eric France and joins us from casual media we'll ask him if Utah State's going to suffer because of major league baseball teams coming in and see what his thoughts are in terms of corporate sponsorship money and the dollars that are being divvied up in the market at this moment of time oh yeah we also have to ask him why the hell Utah State lost to Idaho State over the weekend and whether or not
Bronco Mendenhall should rethink his strategy of wanting to work the least amount of hours in college football that comes your way coming up at 820
