About this episode

Oakland’s bullpen is in crisis, with injuries and underperforming arms like Elvis Alvarado leaving holes that the A’s are desperately trying to fill—recent waiver wire pickups like Scott Blewett and Drew Rom are already making an impact. Meanwhile, Atlanta’s Tyler Kinley, a veteran with a stellar 2025 season and strong recent outings, is being designated for assignment despite his elite ability to limit hard contact. With a team option for 2027 at $5.5M, Kinley could be a steal for Oakland—a pitcher who fits their need for experience and reliability, even if he doesn’t induce ground balls.
