But for those of us who are cool enough to be here on the live stream, we know what's going on. And we are here today to talk all sorts of nerdy stuff and kind of get you guys caught up with everything that you needed to know about lanterns, but probably was afraid to ask. And we're going to talk about that here tonight. Toney, let me go to you first man. How are you doing my brother? I got to say right off the bat, we will be talking about this later on, but happy Batman day. There you go, Toney, see this shirt? I got the all the Batman stuff going on. So I'm in full Batman day regalia. How are you doing, sir? What's happening over there in Wisconsin? I'm great. A lot of rain. We had a little bit of day of relief yesterday, so I got the grass cut before we did that big five project. But yes, happy Batman days. You can see right above my thumb here. The Lego Batman is out today in honor. And it was in the grocery store and I meant to open up

5:18my text thread to myself is where I put a lot of lists like groceries and shit like that. So when I go, I just kind of my and I open social media. And I'm like, oh, cool. And I'm like, oh, it's Batman day. And I'm like, really, is it Batman day? And it is. So I texted Dave from the from the Folls and Food section at the grocery store. I said, hey, let's do a top five Batman actors today. And you said, let's do that. So that was a great idea. I thought it was a fan. Let's get nuts. So we will be talking to our top five Batman actors of all time at the end of the show. And I strongly suspect there will be an immense amount of crossover because there's not a ton of them. But you know, there may be a few surprises that will throw in there. I don't know if George Clooney is going to make the list. But as nipples might, Tuddy, I mean, George Clooney's nipples might make the list of something Batman related. But we are going to start this. We got, you know, we got we're going to talk lanterns. We got a few trailers to talk about one that we won't show

6:22live because I'm sure with you two in the background, we would get a nice little copyright take down. So we'll avoid that. But that's an awesome trailer that I and I I love that trailer. So we'll talk about that. We got a few news items. Some more records being broken. And while I wrestled with not going into this looking at the Van Wagon nerds chat, which I'm now fully fledge to a member of again with the new X account, I saw one story dominating way too much the conversation. And I'm like, I guess we have to talk about it. But we will. And then we will talk touch our Batman stuff. But yeah, let's let's talk lanterns, man. So season or episode five, season one. And hopefully there's going to be more seasons of this show because it has been a great show so far. The mid season finale of lanterns launched this last week. And when last we left off, how Jordan had evacuated a moving car and let John Stewart go head first,

7:30head on collision into a telephone pole. And that's kind of where we pick up with this episode. And well, I don't I say that, but that's not true because we get to actually pick up into 2007. Yeah, we got a flashback of how Carrie ends up being aligned as much as she is with Zoe. And how that whole situation evolves. And it was interesting because like Carrie's being at the beginning of this thing, she's being chased by two dudes. I don't know who they are or who they work for. They didn't really get into that. But she's, you know, the guys are being like, you're going to come out to the car and this is going to happen. So obviously she's in some sort of trouble. And Zoe snaps one of the dudes next and then basically tells the other guy, here's how it's going to be. And the idea being that, well, what do you need to give your boss to satisfy him that you did your job? Well, I need her pinky. So Zoe gives Carrie the option to cut her own pinky off, which she does.

8:30And then she regrows it because Zoe is as we discover very early on in this episode, it's not making who's the man hunter. It's Zoe. And that is, you know, I don't know if that was a big surprise because John kind of revealed it at the end of the last episode. But you get to see how Carrie ends up in this kind of indebted situation to Zoe. And as we're going to discover pretty quickly, John Stewart is going to end up in the exact same position. So I just let me go to you first, Tony and get your overall thoughts on this midseason finale. How this all ended up, did it end up the way that you thought? I mean, it went in some different directions for me. Nothing to mad about it, but it does, and we will, guys, just, you know, we will show here live the midseason trailer for lanterns is coming up because they did launch a midseason trailer that is very, very interesting and really raises the stakes as to where they might be going on this thing. But

9:30let me go to you first. Your overall thoughts on this midseason finale time. If that's what they're calling this, then I would expect the pace to pick up because there's only three episodes left, right? So like you figure they laid a lot of groundwork here in these first five episodes. This episode kind of picked up with getting things actually moving. You know, we had highly speculated that Zoe was the man hunter since when John slept with her, right? So we've been on that train all along. It just was a really good episode, man. I mean, they could have ended a season with an episode like this, to be honest with you. And that was what a lot of people online were saying. This should have been the season finale because it is going to be tough. These last, like you're saying, these last three episodes, like where do we go from here with all that? We're going to go through the next 10 years from 16 to 26 because we need to get to the end is what we've already seen. We've already seen the end of the season. The end of the season

10:30is Carrie and John finding hell with a bullet in his head. Yeah. Yeah. And I think that's the main focal point of these last three episodes is the death of Hal Jordan. Who killed him? And Sinestro, as we will see in the mid season trailer, making an indication that death may not be the end for Hal Jordan. And that, of course, raises a lot of interesting problems. On this episode as well, we get, you know, you get Anton and whatever, whoever he's with, I don't, I think they're another alien race who's trying to eliminate the man hunter. They are. They can detonate themselves. That was an interesting thing to find out. All of these guys are blown and sells up. Right. And you find out that the man hunters at distinguishing characteristic of them is that their hearts turned to crystal when they're removed. And so early in the episode, Anton infiltrates the, you know, his people because they, like you're saying, they just explode themselves. Levels the

11:31playing field between Macon's forces. And it was cool. Like Macon talking, go ahead. Let's just mention the fact though that Hal found them and had to convince and lie to them that Macon was the guy so that they he would be able to go after Zoe. So that's how we get to this point. Right. Right. And Hal, how did that? I think Anton knew that there was some bullshit going on, but he had to be sure. And Hal also in the institutes that what says security protocol that he puts on the ring, which gets his hologram out there. And not only is this hologram. Yeah, not only is this a hologram, but this hologram is able to interact with things. It's like almost a separate sentience that maybe it's him, but it's doing its own thing, running its own reconnaissance. What's was Tony before not all Tron, but what was Tony Stark's AI that kind of is part of all Tron wasn't there something else? Jarvis Jarvis. Yeah, Jarvis. Little bit more of like a

12:31Jarvis kind of thing. It's funny though, the hologram, that's what I'm going to call him so that we can distinguish what we're exactly talking about seems way more way more reasonable than actual hell. True. Because like the hologram's like, I really like John and how's he's an act? Yeah, what are we, what are we doing? And how's like he's John's an asshole. Speaking to John, things get very serious very quickly because he after hitting the telephone pole cannot get himself out of this car. He's trapped by the wreck. How basically, you know, tells him, fuck off, you're not replacing me. And he leaves John. Now, I don't think how realized, I would say I would speculate, I don't think how realized that the car was going to ignite on fire or else he probably would not have just left John there to burn to death. And I don't know, that's a tough one to figure out, but I suspect that how to not realize that was going to happen. Zoe on the other hand knows what's going to happen.

13:33And she leverages this and she lets John burn so that she can get that leverage over him like she did with Kerry. And that's a big problem because John does burn. She rescues him eventually. And then she's able to use her manhunter tech to rebuild John's skin and create that sort of your in debt to me, that sort of aspect, that mechanic of this whole thing. So it gets very interesting very quickly. And she thinks, okay, I've got John, I've rebuilt him after I tore him down and now I've rebuilt him. So he's in debt to me like Kerry is. What do you think of all this? I mean, do you think I'm right? Did how not know that that car was going to ignite? Because I don't know if he would have just let John burn like that. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think so. I don't think so. That's I'd have to go back and watch exactly. What was the status of the car? Was the car starting on fire already while John walked away or did it happen after that? It happened after how walked away. Yeah. And then you know, another part leads to me, someone asked him where's John and

14:38he's like, he's in the car. It was funny. But yeah, you know, this whole thing just proves that Zoe overall, while you may be rude, feel like you need to root for her or you know, you have some kind of sympathy is really is just a horrible being, right? Takes advantage of everybody so that they're indebted to, you know, Zoe will just keep calling it Zoe. And has no problem killing innocent people in rushville just to get the point across, you know what I'm saying? Like not a good thing. So probably best that that's over and done with. But where do we go next, right? What's what how do we figure out the rest of the problems that we're having? Right. And to your point, she pulls the same shit with making. She cures his cancer. He's indebted to her. You get to hear their last conversation in her language. So she's taught him the language of the man hunters. Yep. To be the decoy. Yeah. To be the decoy. And he knows that he's the decoy. And he's fine with it. He says, thank you for the time that the extra time you gave me. And,

15:40you know, and Anton shows up. And he tries to do the deception and, you know, Anton figures it out pretty quickly that he's full of shit. And he, you know, jumps on him kills him, pulls his heart out. And it's a human heart. And that's the end of making. So as we go along, you know, after Zoe is able to rebuild John, you know, because John didn't do what the Guardians wanted in the last episode was take the ring from his finger, say the oath, you'll become the green lantern. After the situation with how we finally get the full physical fight between how Jordan and John Stewart. And how's really not a physical match for John at this point? How's much older? I'm the ring, you know, Zoe's strategy is very smart because she basically tells John I'm going to deplete that fucking ring of all of its charge. And then I'm going to kill how? And she does a good job with that because yeah, how's got to take care of all the the man hunter tech or whatever the hell is going on? And, you know, shield the town and protect his innocence as much as he can from that, which does

16:42to complete the ring. And he's about to recharge it when John shows up and beats the hell out of him. It's a good fight. But at the end, you know, John has got, you know, he's got the advantage and their, you know, John's got basically got Hal in a sleeper hold. And they realize that the man hunter tech is about to take them out. How shields them from that, which protects him to some extent. But Hal ends up buried under rubble. John takes the ring from Hal. Goes through this, you know, he goes through the town or he takes the ring and he leaves. And then Zoe shows up and Zoe realizes that, you know, Hal basically like, you know, I know him well enough to I forget what exactly he says, but it was something to the effect that, you know, she's like, why did you save him? And, you know, it's something to the effect that he actually believes in him a little bit or something or that he isn't that bad of a guy or whatever, or, you know, he had him wrong or something. And so he goes, then why would he leave you here for me? And Hal just looks up and says, bait. And at that point, Zoe turns around and we cut to the camera

17:47in John's scope where John sheds a tear and tells Zoe I see you and pulls the trigger. Yeah. And he takes her out. But that was an awesome, awesome part of this episode because yeah, Hal realizes what John has done. And, and, you know, John realizes that he's been used. I think he realizes pretty quickly once, you know, once Zoe has him in that compromise position where he's burnt. And it's like, well, we got to take you off the morphine or this won't work. Okay, he realizes she's manipulated me the whole damn time for own advantage. And this is why she needs to die. And, and he, like you said, he sheds a tear because there is, you know, there's some sort of bond between them. And then he shoots, pulls the trigger. I liked like the part where, where it's Hal talking to Anton and kind of insinuating that he's homosexual and, oh, yeah, and like, Anton's like, oh, you see, he seduced you, huh? He didn't know you were that way. And he's like, well, when you've been, when you've been around the galaxy as much as I have,

18:49you tend to just, it's not a matter of who it's when, you know, your opportunities, opportunity, yeah. That's right. So I thought that was really funny. I mean, that was, that was a, that was a really cool part of this whole thing. And it does, you know, yeah, aliens are, they can take any shape in any form. But, um, yeah, John makes the fateful decision to shoot Zoe. Um, and, you know, he's got the ring. And he goes through the town and carries like, stand down and, and John ends up going to the diner to meet with Leana, right? I think that's her name. Leana is the guardian. And she's like, and, and, and you get this really, this twist on this whole episode where John's got the ring, never says the oath and tells Leana, you know, um, I thought, but, you know, I imagine for years would it be like to have this ring, the power, the, you know, the, the pride and all, all of these sorts of things. And then he says, but you know what, when I put this thing on, I just felt empty. And he goes in now, he suddenly understands, you know, why, how I wanted to keep it so much. But it's like, at the same time,

19:52John's like, I don't want it this way. I don't, I don't want to get the ring this way. Um, and he leaves the ring there for Leana and he walks off, which is a shocking development because, you know, he's been raised his entire life to be a green lantern. All he's got to do is say the oath, he never says the oath and he walks away. And that's basically kind of how the mid how the mid-season finale ends. Um, and I get what you're saying. It's like, no one's ever really said mid-season finale. But then when we watch the trailer, we're going to watch this as mid-season trailer. It's like, okay, well, that must have been the finale. Um, it's interesting when they finally meet up and he's got the lantern and the ring and breakers are the backpack with the crystallized heart and, yeah. If you should have called sooner and I flash back to the part of the episode where he's going to get the gun and he's calling his parents and telling him to call and they won't. They're like, give me an explanation and he's just like, fuck it, eh? Would you guys just listen to me for fucking once in your fucking lives? You know what? That's hilarious. So this series is such a grand

20:59slam. I'm going to say home run is such a grand slam for DC. It's so fucking ridiculous. It's so good on so many levels. You have the galactic influence in it. You have the street level kind of, we've talked about this westernish modern Yellowstone power trip affair as well to it. It's so freaking beautiful. And then at the end of the day, Carrie tells them to stand down. It's over. You know, she understands John is a good guy and now we sit and wonder what happens next, right? And it has to lead me to believe that maybe just maybe there's some type of guy gardener influence on John to accept his responsibility. We're going to look, we're going to look at that in just a minute here. And guy gardener is going to be a big part of these last three episodes. That becomes readily apparent as we shift the focus to who killed Hal and why. And yeah, I agree with you. I haven't

21:59really had a chance to talk to Pat too much about this series. Was he enjoying it? I mean, last week you guys talked about that great fourth episode. Yeah. Yeah. He's up there with us. It's one of the better streaming series. I do believe he's in that field. I think he's really enjoying it. He said it's good. It's just interesting to see. Like for us, you know, we can enjoy this on a smaller scale as far as like episode to episode and just this first season. And finally getting a lantern story in a modern in this new modern DC. But at the same time, guys like us who do this every week, we sit here and go, okay, this is so good. How do we how do we fit this into James Gunn's DCU? Like obviously it's a part of the story that's being told right now. But like, how do you transfer this great lantern storytelling into the movie theater? And it have it to be productive at the box office. Right. And that's the big thing is, how do you maintain the momentum you've built from this series and attach it to the grander vision that James Gunn is doing. But I, I mean,

23:04I think we talked about it. Last time I was you and I talking about it. It was like, um, this was exactly what DC needs right now. This series was exactly what DC needs. And um, yeah, I mean, have you have you watched Supergirl? Yeah. Tony, have you watched it? No. So the deal with that was is Patrick and I were recording last week. And as we were getting done, we were talking about what you watch in when we both were like, Oh, we're probably going to get the Supergirl now finally because we both hadn't yet. And I and we were probably both going to he was going to watch it that day. I don't know if I was going to, um, but I thought about it and I said to him, I go, why don't you wait and watch it a couple few days or the night before we do VWN when you come back. So next week, me and him can have a conversation with you finally, all three of us together about Supergirl. So there's a little preview for next week. And the only other thing I want to say is while we're talking about the totality of DC and it's and James gun and everything else, you mentioned it and you know,

24:07there's no way I was going to let this slip through the cracks and not bring it up in any DC discussion. And considering we're going so early that I haven't started drinking yet, there's no way I was going to even forget. Now I almost went hat and shirt on top of it. But if Grant Gouston is willing to come back as the flash, James gun, you bring Grant Gouston back as the flash. However you want to do it at whatever time it makes sense to put flash in a story, okay? Because yes, he's in his mid 30s, but the guy is super baby faced. People love him. People still want it. He's a great actor. He's a great flash. You can fit him in. He can still play a mid 20s flash. And you know what? It might be even better storyline if we finally get a middle-aged flash kind of someone with a little bit more experience. Like he can kind of transition into that J Garrick role as we maybe bring someone along in the speed force, right? Maybe some of his kids, right? So we'll see. They can a lot of stories to tell there. A lot of great villains to bring along with the flash as well. Yeah. This, I mean introducing Grant Gouston's flash

25:14into this series would be brilliant because I mean you can't go full CW flash. You'd have to modify his character a little bit. It's being a little bit older, a little bit wiser to make him fit in with this sort of story. But he would fit in perfectly here. What if you just kind of picked up where they left off where he was and just be like, well, you know, he's half a decade older now from where we left off. Every story that was in that is a part of can be pulled from, right? So you think about the characters you can bring in. The people who played the people in Wally, Iris, Joe, Cisco, Caitlin Frost, all these people, right? Like it's a pretty good attachment to have with it. Even if it's just Grant, it's one of the greatest portrayals of a superhero ever. In my opinion, if you've watched the CW series and you've watched enough superhero movies and series, there's no question to me. No, he was, he was great. Stephen Amel was great as Aero,

26:19the girl, the Gallup plays Supergirl. I mean, not taking anything away from from Miley, but or Millie. As a Miller Miley, I always forget. Millie. Yeah. Speaking to Supergirl, our friend Ray Cash did text me this morning. He says, I'm going to watch Supergirl wish me luck. I'm like, dude, it's not that bad. It's a good movie. I mean, you know, you hate Superman. He goes, but he loves Superman. So he's I said, well, we'll talk later. So we'll see how he thinks of it. He just got a dog in the last year. You think he would like the story about the dog? So you would think so. I'm interested to see what he thinks of it. But we've, we've teased it a little bit, honey. Why don't we get let's let's look at, and I know there's going to be some static for a minute here. Feel these. No, you haven't seen it? No, you haven't seen it yet. Okay, hold on a sec. 27:22Like, you know, what's going to happen in these last three episodes from this beautiful little teaser here. So yeah, this is in case you guys have not seen it. This is the midseason trailer for lanterns somewhere. Come on. There we go. Okay. All right. I'll do this. I took the fall for what we did. You didn't take the fall. You fell. Well, then people got killed. There's more than one killer at this table. What? I never thought he'd actually die.

28:25Could have been anyone. This whole goddamn town wanted to kill him. I can't help you solve this murder. It's bad optics. You owe me. I asked him if he had a need was to. You're reset to me? Go climb a rope. Because you're a gem teacher. No, because he's a shit fuck. And I was an athletic director. Help me find out who killed how. She can be the most powerful force in the universe. Can't hold on to it forever, pal. Help, then. I have to die in vain. Oh, how are you? I know a way. What would you do again? I will. More square. More a long fucking way from being square.

29:40There's something in there that we didn't talk about from the episode that we just watched. And it's the scene before everything starts to go down where Zoe is with her grandson. And it's almost as if this is her protege and as if maybe you know, the way that she had the drop of blood into John is there maybe a way that she can turn humans into manhunders, part manhunders, or maybe this is actually part of that. Can a manhunter with a human produce a manhunter is carries husband actually a manhunter and was it that important that he stayed there to protect the child and stay anonymous? Right? So a lot of those things go through my head when you see a lot of cuts to the shot of that child here. I don't know. What do you think? What is your first thoughts? Because that's the first time I seen that trailer and I'm glad we went back and talked about I'm glad we're going back now and bringing up the fact about the grandson as well.

30:42A few things about that trailer. Obviously we're worried about who killed Hal Jordan. When you watch that trailer when they're sitting in the diner together you get the idea, okay, John and Hal spoke really short in time in line with where he's killed because John's got that Fuman shoe shit going on. That go T sort of thing that he has. Well, not Fuman shoe, but he's got the go T going on and he's talking. I think other stuff. Kerry looks like her and Hal did get together because she's the one waiting for him when he gets out of prison. I think of like you remember good fellas, right? When Henry Hill comes out of prison and Karen's there waiting for him. It feels like that sort of thing where Hal comes out of prison. So he obviously took the fall for this thing and John's like, no, you fell. And what does that mean? I think, yeah, you know, the search for Hal's killer is going to be a focal point. Sinestro is what I zero in on. Sinestro and Guy Gardner, Guy showing up because John's in jail as well. He's obviously beat the shit out

31:48of people and got thrown in jail. Guy shows up. It says it's a bad optic for me to get involved in all this. Who killed Macon? What's the bald guy's name again? I can't remember with this. Antoine could have killed Hal as well. Hal lied to him and he knows it. Could have, yeah, he could have, but I think the stuff with Sinestro. Antoine could also hook up with Sinestro or something or Sinestro could have goons. Yeah, there's they could be it could be Antoine through, you know, the orders of Sinestro or something. Yeah, no, no, no, kind of lineage or alignment. Antoine has. Right. So we're at least 10 years after how spoke with Sinestro about John replacing him. Sinestro looks like he's no longer imprisoned. He looks a little disheveled. The hair's a little bit longer and he says some stuff in here. Hal didn't have to die in vain. There's a way and the way they focus it on blackest night. Dude, they may be going with the blackest night storyline and if they're going in that direction, there's a lot of people who are not ready for that story arc. Is that the one

32:51where Hal turns into parallax? It's it's that it's the red guardians. It's the red, well, it's ability to resurrect dead superheroes and to turn them into blackest night zombies. There's a scene where Hal's laying on the floor and he's like, what are you? Which almost makes me think is this Hal in the afterlife? This is some in-between place. This Hal really dead is what I'm starting to wonder because you know, John's carries like what and John's like, I just can't believe he's actually actually would die. So I think these last three episodes are going to be just some of the most compelling. As great as the first five were, these last three are going to be just tremendous to watch. You know, Guy Gardner getting involved is going to be fun, you know, it's because you're a gym teacher. No, it's because he's a shit fuck, you know. So guys issue Hal. Yeah, I know he's an athletic director. So yeah, guys issues with Hal are going to come to a head. Yeah, I don't know, man, but that trailer, that's why, you know, if this was the mid-season finale and

33:55you certainly look at that trailer and say, okay, that makes sense that they divided it here because now we're shifting into who killed Hal Jordan, why and what is Sinestro's angle here? Yeah, man, it's going to be, and I think you know what happens in those 10 years? What does Hal do in those 10 years? When John shows up and says you fell, has Hal already become parallax or a version of that? Did he wipe out the Guardians and release Sinestro? There's a big deal for 10 years though, too, you know. Yeah, yeah, and it looks like John does have the ring. So eventually he gets the ring and maybe he gets it the way that he wanted to not stealing it or taking it from Hal. So dude, I, you know, yeah, feel these nipples exactly, man. I'm excited because this is going to be one hell of a ride coming into this last three episodes of what has been a phenomenal, just a phenomenal series so far. I think this is going to be awesome and I'm excited. I think, yeah, I'll say it again. This is exactly what

35:00DC needed at this point in time coming off of whatever you want to say about Supergirl. I think it's a good movie. The box office says otherwise. That's fine. But this series has established the Green Lantern hero as okay, this is not somebody wearing an anime suit with a bunch of stupid constructs. We're like making, you were using the ring to make Hot Wheels tracks and we've got Parallel X as a cloud. They have really in five episodes stripped that away and rebuilt it. And I think these last three episodes push this over the top and really establish Green Lantern. You know, I mean, you look at this stuff and you say, okay, we got Superman well established and we're going to talk about David Gorn sweat in just a minute. We've got Superman well established. Whatever they're doing with Batman on Batman Day, apparently we don't know anything yet. Supergirl is what Supergirl was. But now you've established in these last three episodes, you can turn Green Lantern into, if we're going to mess around with Batman and we don't have that figured out and you're

36:00looking okay, who's a counter, you know, how do we get this character who can be a counterpart to Superman, an effective character, an effective Green Lantern, a really well established Green Lantern, can carry that load. So, you know, what do we do? What do we, I mean, is this, is this, you know, blackest night would be a really big threat to the DCU that Gun is trying to establish. So, I'm all in, man, I'm the, you know, guys there, I'm just wondering if these last three episodes, do we get a cameo from like Superman or something like that? I'm not sure. It doesn't need it. It doesn't need it. It's interesting though, because they haven't really announced whether or not there's going to be a season two, right? So, is this all just to give you a backstory as they bring this into theaters? The continuation of this story? Or is it just, or are they waiting to see because, man, I can tell you there's, there's, there's comic book nerds that I know that love this. There's non-comic book nerds that I know love this. And there's non-nerds that people that just

37:04like a good series that are like, that is really, really good storytelling. So, as long as you continue that side of it, the really good storytelling, and it seems really stupid to say that that's a necessity, a necessity of a good series or a good movie is good storytelling. I don't care what you do with it, whether you keep it on streaming and just kind of use the characters in other movies, or if you actually have lantern series movies, right? I don't know. Well, and it raises the question like we've speculated does, is DC in a position right now where using a series as a better storytelling medium than movies are? I don't know. I mean, Superman was, one was a good, was a great movie. And they didn't have such luck on Supergirl, but we don't know. I mean, you look at the success of like the piece of that they while they did with peacemaker and now lanterns and it's like, well, maybe, maybe it's just better suited for a serial, you know, series in a streaming series and it would be on the big screen. I don't know.

38:05It just sucks though and we keep going back to it that, you know, obviously Robert Pattinson is very good at Batman, right? And it would be great if he was younger and it had started later or he'd gun it started earlier, but you got to have Batman and you got to figure it out and you got to figure it out quick because in all honesty, if I was running it, I would only have Batman and Superman movies and Justice League movies. That's it. That's the only three things I would put the movie theater and every other great streaming series I could come up with, I would take the characters and put them into those movies as opposed to running their own movies. That way I always have great streaming, right? Like, that's not a bad idea. I don't know. I can't really, you can't really do out another flash series, but you can have him in, but not with Grant Goosent. That's got to be something in the movies or a part of other things. Not like you can't just come back and be like, hey, the flash is coming back as a series on HBO and it's Grant Goosent. Really? You're telling

39:10me you're continuing the story that? Well, yeah. I mean, you would have to pay honor. You would have to honor the previous series and do something like that. You couldn't just reboot it. I mean, they could, but I don't know what would be a good idea. Yeah, we're so far from figuring that part of DC out right now, but at the same time, like, you got to have Batman and yeah, this is awesome. That's really the last thing I have to say. We're going to get to more and stuff later, but this this series is phenomenal. I can't wait to watch and cover the final final three episodes are going to be really, really, really compelling stuff. And I know as much as you as much as you love horror movies, we've got a trailer for it's actually the second trailer we've seen for this. This is creepy. Jessica Chastain in this movie that's coming out called other mommy, which is it's a story about Rhea Ripley's doppelganger. Yeah, there he goes. Sure. Let's take a look at this. This record. Looks creepy to me, man. I'm curious to see the story. It's okay. Well, what is she? Because when she does the thing with the soap bubbles and the bat, that looks like an alien head or demonic. I guess it could be an eater or, but I know you're not going to go see this, but what do you think for the horror fans out there? This looks like it might be fun. Yeah, it's um, I don't know if it's a brand new concept, but it looks like it's really well done. Yeah, I won't be seeing it, but the acting looks good. Remus looks interesting. The only real tropey thing and being a person that's not of the genre,

44:30right, is like, I was like, oh, interesting, interesting, interesting, and then they went and showed her do the whole spider walk thing. And I'm like, does every horror film have to have that now? Like they almost all have it now. Don't they? Like, I mean, well, she was under the table and a contorted sort of position, but I get what you're saying. Yeah. Right. They all kind of have that creepy part of it. But no, I'm sure it should be good for the horror community. And I'm sure the, I'm sure Jessica Chastain will get a lot of praise for the role. She looks like she's did a really good job. Yeah, she looks like she's all in the kid look. You'll never go in a ball pit again. Yeah, really. I mean, it's going to change her perspective on ball pits. That's that's, that is for sure, man. Um, I, you know, I don't know. I'm, you know, I'm a horror fan. I don't know if I'll go run right out and see it, but it's like, it's like from the producer back rooms, which is another movie I need to watch. I need to watch that and I need to watch a session, which is with the, the guy was going to play Rogue in the X-Men stuff. I did it. It's like,

45:32everybody says like, that's a really good movie as well. These are stuff I got to check out. But, yeah, I think it's, it's a worthy edition, you know, the, to kick off spooky season here on the bandwagon. I'm all for it. It's like, yeah, this looks like it'll be a fun one. Now let's go into a trailer for something that we probably will watch both of us, Tony, because we're both fans of, we're both sports fans. We're both fans of boxing, especially in the golden days of boxing and whatever's going on in boxing right now is, you know, there's some good fighters, you know, but it does, it's not like when, when I was coming up, when it was the four kings, right, when it was Hagler, Leonard, Herne, Durand. And I would actually add Will Frato Benitez and say there was a fifth guy who doesn't get nearly enough credit during that time frame. But they were all like Walter Wates, Middle Wates, that sort of thing. But the heavyweight division was revolutionized by Muhammad Ali, of course, Joe Frazier, George Foreman. And then there was this big gap. I mean,

46:33Larry Holmes was a great champion as well. But after Holmes kind of like lost to Michael Spinks, you're looking for the next big thing. And we got this guy named Iron Mike Tyson. And Iron Mike is one of the greatest of all time. I would say one of the most dangerous, one of the most feared fighters of all time, but a troubled person. And we've got a documentary coming out, covering the life and times of Mike Tyson. It's coming out on Netflix and it is coming out on, let me double check the date on this. October 13th, so just a few days after, this is a few days after the other mommy hits the theaters. But Tony, we're going to go ahead and take a look at the trailer for this documentary coming up on Mike Tyson, coming to Netflix on October 13th. Let's take a look at this one too. There we go.

47:36Looks like a red mistreat on my life. I'm in the next day and I'm in the biggest shit in the world. I've been thinking in terms of developing a fighter who is perfect. He imagined being the ice who dropped out from here though, he had a champion of the world. Truly a tried and tested gladiator. The best fighter I ever seen. He thought he was in one. He thought he was a god. He brave washed me, he cleaned the dirty mind and he made it better. He didn't prepare me for myself. Mike was beautiful in the same way a train wreck is beautiful. Mike Tyson, Mike's only field. I was a nut back then, huh? You think I give a damn about you and me all on that? I don't care if I live in a diet. I'm a dysfunctional mother.

48:38I don't trust anybody in general. I don't like people to know me at all. The things that he's gone through, most people wouldn't just been dead. This is the dark side of me. That's just who I became. Addicted to chaos. Why? It was. Why, I don't know. He making it difficult for me now. Deliberation. The screw of me. What that proper shelter is, both shit. But that is their American story, right? People love to see you get knocked down and come back. The more he got sober, the more I shamed the more embarrassment he had about some of the things he did. I think you're just so broken from this past, but inside this broken guy just trying to be a good father. It's hard to navigate to a self. You really don't know the fuck you are.

49:50I assume both of us are going to be watching that one. Your thoughts on Mike Tyson, the fighter, the man, and is this documentary the series, something that interests you? No. Really? Okay. And I'll tell you why. It's kind of the same thing when I think the closest thing I can attribute it to is when HBO, I think it was, did the Ric Flair documentary? Our ESPN didn't it do 30, 30? Yeah, one of the two, one of the two. And I was like, oh, well, this is going to be really well done. And it's going to be stuff that I've seen a million times. And it was. It was nothing new. There's not going to be anything new in here for people like me. I'm sure it's going to be really good. I'll probably watch it because I'll be sitting down at some point. There'll be nothing on. And I'm a big fan of the fighter, Mike Tyson. And I'm a big fan of him trying to change to be better and support his family and stuff

50:56and everything else. But you know, did a lot of bad stuff. He had a really rough upbringing. But just to stick to the boxing side that they did you brought up before. Yeah, he kind of rejuvenated the heavyweight division for a while. The thing about it, he is one of the greatest boxers of all time. But his career is not as impressive as his legacy, honestly. You know what I mean? Like, I'll tell you what, I don't just want to sit here and try and defend him because I'm a fan of him as a boxer. But you might bite someone's ear off too if they head, but a Jew doesn't in a half times in a couple minutes. And that's what was going on in that abandoned Holyfield fight. Funny story. I was not very old at all. I don't even know that I was a teenager or barely a teenager at the time, but I was at home watching the fight. And my mom and stepdad were out in an event. And my stepdad calls me probably about a half hour after the fight was over. And he's like, did you watch? Did you watch? I'm like, yeah. And he goes, did he really bite his ear off? I go, yeah, he bit that motherfucker's ear right off.

51:57And he's like, yeah. So, you know, just to go back and watch his highlights and his knockouts as a boxer and to watch, him talk about himself as a boxer. And he's a boxing historian himself. He knows a lot about boxing. But it's a tough struggle of a life that he's had. And nobody's perfect. I'm not trying to judge anybody. But as just as far as someone who's going to consume the media, I'm sure it'll be good. But yeah, the part of me instantly goes right away. Like, I know of this whole story already. Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I mean, I'll be curious to watch it. Mike, when he was in his prime, man, there was no fighter who was ever more feared in the ring. People were, I mean, they were beaten like when he fought Marvis Frazier and knocked him out in 19 seconds, Marvis was just done from the moment the bell rang. Michael Spinks was the same way, terrified of this guy. And I go back to when Buster Douglas beat him.

52:59For sure. Biggest upset in boxing history by bar none. I mean, it's maybe not miracle on ice level. Worthy because it's boxing and everybody's got a puncture's chance. But I think like Buster Douglas was like a 42 to one underdog. And they were like, it might as well have been a million to one. Nobody gave him a chance in that fight. But Mike was going through everything that he was going through at that point in time. Buster just lost his mom like two weeks before. So he had no fear. He went in that fight with no fear. And Buster Douglas was never going to be a Hall of Famer. Because Holyfield knocked him this fuck out the next time his first title of offense. But Buster showed the blueprint to beating Mike Tyson. You can't be scared of him. You got to stand in front of him in those first few minutes and take it if you can. And then you diffuse Mike's power was that concept of the fear that he put into everybody. But I remember when Buster knocked him out.

53:59And it was right after Hulk Hogan had beat Macho Man at WrestleMania five. And they were moving to the main event. And they just assumed everybody just assumed that and it was going into, I think they were moving into WrestleMania six where Hulk took on warrior. Right. February of 90 was right. February of 90 when this happened. If Buster Douglas doesn't beat Mike Tyson, we get Mike Tyson involved in WWF. What? Eight years before he actually does show up at the time when he was at the height of his powers. And what, what would you've gotten? I mean, I'm sure they did it the same way. Tyson would have knocked out Macho King the same way that he knocked out Sean Michael. So same way Buster knocked him out. So I don't imagine they were going to do anything different. But would that have made things bigger? And this is a pro wrestling reference, sorry Pat. But it's relevant to this conversation. Is like how big are the things that Ben had had been Tyson in there instead of Buster Douglas? I think it's bigger to have happened when it did because of the attitude era.

54:59Oh, sure. Sure. I mean, I'm not disputing that. It's just like it would have been an interesting dichotomy to look at him in 90 versus 98. No, you asked me what you're going to be better and I think it's better the way it happened. Way, way, way better. Fine, well, fuck you then, Tony. I mean, that's fine. Well, he's just a, he's just a, he's just a young, you know, unbeatable champ. By the time he comes back, he's had all this stuff happen and he's a rebel and he's, but he's still the most dangerous guy and he fits in perfectly, right? He's more, he's so much more of a, of a, he's so much less than a 3D 4D character. He's much more of vanilla earlier than he is later on in the impact that he actually has. Yeah, yeah, I can get behind that. But it'll be good to watch this. I mean, Mike's, you know, documented issues with Robin Givens, raping a beauty pageant, getting thrown into prison for a couple years is everything spiraling and, and really it's like his appearance in the hangover kind of seemed to be what got him back on the path towards like dealing with his own issues. The tiger and, you know, you know,

56:04you're still got, he's still got it. Yeah, you know, singing in the air tonight, knocking out and out. But, uh, all right, let's, let's talk. One of the trailers we can't show because YouTube has their music in there and I figured it would cause this problem. But we got a trailer for Mr. A Relevant, which is coming out Christmas time in theaters. David Koran Sweat, Superman, as who does he play? Tuggle? Is that who he plays in this one? Jack Tuggle is, uh, and, um, so Tuggle was, uh, I believe it's the guy's name is Tuggle, right? I think Tony's looking it up right now. Um, but this movie is about, you know, I, one of the first times you heard the term Mr. Relevant, Mr. A Relevant used in football terminology. They've got a good cast in this one, Bill Parcell's in the New York Giants, uh, and the struggles that this guy goes through, um, you know, and Koran Sweat looks phenomenal in this role and it's easy to forget because you think

57:05Superman and it ends there, but this is a great role because you get to see the range of David Koran Sweat in this, uh, in this, uh, in this, uh, movie. And, um, this is absolutely one that is going to be high on my list of things to see this Christmas, Tony, because I think the trailer looks phenomenal. Um, the whole concept, go ahead. So yeah, he, he played football at Cal. He's running back. He was the last pick in the 83 draft. So that's not even the like the seventh round back then. He was the 335th overall pick in the 12th round. Um, but yeah, John Tuggle. John Tuggle. Yeah. John Tuggle. Yeah. His story is sad, though. He only played one year, um, because, well, if you'd watch the trailer, go watch the trailer. Yeah, he gets sick. He's diagnosed and, then passes away shortly thereafter. Yeah. Um, what does he, what does he get? What does he say? Is it cancer? Is it ALS or what is cancer? Cancer? Cancer. Um, and it's, and it's sad because,

58:09you know, he's got the whole idea with him and, and the girlfriend and, and they're doing really well. And then, you know, he gets these interactions with Lawrence Taylor of all people at training camp and parcels like LT, take him out. Um, but yeah, it's just a, it's a sad story. It's going to be, it's going to pull on the heartstrings. Um, but this guy just doesn't give up. So it's going to be inspiring, but it's going to be sad. So if you go watch this, it's a true, based on a true story. So if they include the part where the giants paid for his health care for the rest of his life, that's true. Yeah. And um, yeah, they maintained, they upheld his insurance even after he left the team for one year and, and, you know, kept that for the rest of his life. And I mean, uh, bill par cells plays a big and I forget the actor who plays somebody's excellent actor. Um, and he, when you earn the respect to bill par cells, because par cells didn't respect too many of his, I mean, some of them like LT, but even would get in everybody's face, Phil Sims and him at a

59:13notoriously, uh, well publicized, uh, difference of opinion in a lot of places, uh, spats on the sideline, but in this trailer, you see par cells really having a lot of respect for this guy. And that's like that. Michael Shannon. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Fuck. So we've got, we've got a Snyderverse DCU crossover here. Don't we, Cuddy? We've got David Corn sweat, the current Superman with General Zod from the Snyderverse's, uh, uh, Superman Man of Steel. So that'll be interesting, but um, yeah, this trailer looks, I mean, it looks great. The movie looks great. The acting looks who's the gal isabel may. I think is that who plays? Hey, yeah, it's loving. Play's Kate. Um, what'd you think of this? I mean, this is this is going to be a tough one to watch, but it looks like one that I'm going to have to check out. No, I mean, it looks like they got the cast right. It looks like they're going to tell a really good story and it's a true story. So, it's going to pull at your heartstrings and that's pretty much the bottom line. Yeah. Yeah,

Um, I love the cast and in just the story in general, I'm a sucker for these kind of things and it's, it's unfortunate how it ends up that there is no happy ending here, but it will be inspiring. And that, you know, and, and the nature of those kind of movies. So, um, yeah, Mr. Arrell event hits theaters. I think it's December 20th. Is that what I put in here? Uh, December, yeah, Christmas day, Christmas day of this year. Um, the other thing, the last thing, it's not a trailer. And I'm not going to show it because it was just a short, but I know our friend DJ got all excited about this. Patrick O'Doward shared this in the bandwagon nerds chat. DJ says he will be seated for this schlockfest that will be the Street Fighter movie. The bigger question is, Tony, will DJ get this Cody Rhodes, uh, popcorn bucket that you can wear after you get done eating the popcorn? No, that's not what you get. You don't get that. No, that's just what they

1:01:18use to promote it. You get a bucket that is his face with the hair and it's in that. That's what it is. You don't get a bucket you can put on your head. It comes with it. And now, I know I'm not interested anymore. I was up until you just ruined it for me. So, um, I don't know, man, are you, are you interested? I mean, it's got a lot, speaking of wrestling, it's got a lot of our wrestler friends in their Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, people like that. Um, I don't know, man, I, you know, is it something after watching sitting through Mortal Kombat 2 and just being like, all right, not even Carl Urban is saving this fucking movie. Um, you know, is, is there any realistic hope that Street Fighter is going to be any better? Probably not. It's probably going to be even more over the top and insane. It does have pro wrestlers in it. So I'm maybe a little bit interested. But this is, uh, this is like definitely waiting, waiting till it comes to streaming sort of situation. I don't know. 1:08:42talked about it when we saw the first trailer for the movie. And I was like, oh, it makes me angry seeing Zendaya with somebody else, even though I know it's MJ and it's a movie. And it talks at me like I don't like to watch the office or Big Bang Theory when Jim and Pam aren't together or Penny and Leonard aren't together, right? Like certain people are supposed to be together. So this movie's success, the portrayal of the roles in the main characters and the bond of the main characters in real life and the public's absolute infatuation with them. And they also seem to be really good people as well. Kind of puts a cherry on top of all of it. Yeah. And just looking at this article, let's look at some numbers, man. 936.8 million at theaters in North America. How mine money? Yeah, I got mine since it's released in July. Be it the record that was previously held by Star Wars, the Force Awakens, which was I think, uh, here's here's a

1:09:44a testament to this movie. My stepdad had never gone to CNN, see movie ever probably hasn't gone to more than a handful of movies in the last two decades. Never watched an entire MCU movie, but knows about Avengers because, well, everybody has TNT and Niggit Borden on Saturday afternoon, right? So, right. He wanted, he, I didn't ask him. He asked if I was going and asked if he could go and loved it. And when it was over said that was almost three hours, that was so good. Yeah. And I'm sorry, I was sharing the article and then it locked up so I stopped. But, um, Force Awakens at 936.6 million, um, seven weeks in the theater Spider-Man brand new day finally fell the second place, um, because the Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, sequel, practical magic to, um, okay, sorry. So it, uh, it hit 30 million in the, um, practical magic too. But I guess the bigger question now is what is the ceiling for brand new day?

1:10:46Two questions. What is the ceiling for brand new day? And will Doomsday beat it, which is probably a yes. But, uh, Ken, Ken brand new day beat Avatar's record, which is hold on. Let me look it up real quick here. And I don't want to crackle again. But, um, two. Okay. So, Avatar's, what is it? Avatar's, Avatar's record is 2.92 million, uh, globally. Spider-Man is at 2.4 globally right now. So that's not my say that, but that's still what, next or 500 billion that has got to pull down. Um, not sure it's going to make that before it gets pulled from the theaters. Avatar movie could re-released. Yes. Several times. Okay. So what's interesting is, you know, I don't think they can make a half a billion on the rest of their theater run. I don't know that they'll get let in the,

1:11:47I mean, unless this movie stays in the problem is is you have the end of Ender's End Game re-release coming out, right? So that if, if in a world where that doesn't happen and the next thing is Doomsday, I could see Spider-Man actually staying in large movie theaters in large cities on all the way until the week before Doomsday. But since you got this Avengers End Game thing, I think you're really going to see even if they leave it in there through that. You're going to see numbers go down because people are going to go to that. The people that just go to receive movies are going to go to that instead. So I don't know a re-release at some point, maybe on a 10th anniversary or the problem is you're going to continue to have Tom Holland playing this Spider-Man character for a while. So I don't know when you would re-release this for, you know. Yeah. That's a good point about Avengers End Game re-releasing next weekend, actually. I think we're going to see it. Are you going to go see it in the theater? Is that your due opt against it?

1:12:47Dave, are they going to put an intermission in? I don't know, man. I mean, you've already seen it. It doesn't matter. You can get up in P. You've already seen it. So here is actually what I'm going to might do. I'll look into it. I think I might do this for Doomsday too. Is I'm going to buy a ticket to two movies. And one of them is going to start 15 minutes later than the first one. So halfway through the movie at some point, Dave, I'm going to, do you see where I'm going here? I'm shaking ahead of me. I'm playing during the movie. When I feel like it, I'm going to get up and take a 15 minute break. I never walk in a movie theater too. I'm taking off right back where I left off because it's America and I can do shit like that. I was going to suggest a bed pan might be easier just throwing that out there for you. You want to know what would be even more, um, egregiously, uh, aggressive would be if I bought, if I went by

1:13:51myself and I bought three seats in each movie and just sat right in the middle with no one on each side of me and the rest of the theater is full in two different theaters. Well, I'll tell you this. I don't think you're going to have the problem of the full theater and game on core. When we got the tickets, it's like, wow, this, this theater is pretty wide open. Um, so there are people who want to go see it, but it is not going to draw the crowds like brand new day did. Yeah. At the time of day, I go to the movie theater. It's never more than like, I think when I, the spider man was probably about 60, 70% full, but we also went to 10 a.m. showing. So, yeah, I don't know. I think we're going, I don't know time we're going next week, but I will be going. So we will be reporting and it's going on Saturday. So next week when we reconvene when Patrick has, you know, shuffled the parental units back on, you know, away from the house and he's able to come back on here and spend some time with us. Hopefully we'll all be able to talk about what is in end game on core, what is different? How does this set the stage? But yeah, I mean, we're like, what three months away from

1:14:56Doomstay coming out. So we are not far away from that big event happening. Um, but yeah, I think, brand new day has been an overwhelming success. It shows the power of this character that, you know, everybody's looking, you know, who's the next big thing in Marvel? I mean, what about the big three? We don't have Iron Man. We've got Thor on a limited basis, Steve's on a limited basis. I think we have that fans have answered spider man is where you hitch your trailer to that wagon if you're the MCU right now and you ride that as far as you can. Yeah, I mean, but it's going to it's going to continue to be in its own wavelength kind of, right? Like involved, but still its own huge thing. I think, I think a reset, it's, we forget that this is a big reset for Doomstay. So I just see they're going to find they got to find a new person to lead the for lack of better term. Is it the new Avengers? We're going to continue moving forward. Who's going to be in charge moving forward? I don't know, but whoever it is needs to go into Yalena Bolova's office.

1:15:59A little bit more. I heard Florence Pugh may or may not be in this one. I think I heard Florence Pugh might be in this movie as well. And that's a good thing. I wouldn't, I would meet her in her office. I would, yeah, I agree. I agree. Well, in other news that's not related to MCU, Tony, our long national nightmare that we really don't care about might be coming an end to an end soon as we got news that the Paramount Warner Brothers merger that has been put on hold because California and 11 other democratically controlled states I might add all sued under anti-trust violations to stop this merger. Because, you know, when Paramount did this in Netflix, that wasn't enough of a cluster, fuck, they said, hey, you know, oh Paramount Warner Brothers, you guys want to do this merger. We think that this is the same antitrust you guys were bitching about. Yeah, we think it applies to you. So Rob Bonta, the California Attorney General instituted this lawsuit

1:16:59and 11 other states jumped in on this thing. But the rumors now, and I mean, early in the week, like Paramount was threatening to leave the state of California to say, fuck you guys, we're out of here. And lo and behold, California. What's that? Yeah, a lot of California. A lot of California things are leaving California. I, yes, I can relate. But they now look like they may be on the Cusapis to steal another one of Tony's words, the Cusapis of a possible resolution. So I'm going to read this here because I don't want to get static. After a bitter standoff Paramount, Skydance, California Attorney General Rob Bonta made progress. The settlement talks a good butch. Hollywood's massive merger over the finish line, negotiating a truce, Tony, to Paramount's frozen $111 billion takeover of Warner Brothers. This is a story that we've been covering for what is this now going on a year and a half at least this merger. This is the

And I still go back to my statement that Netflix is the only party in this whole thing who is laughing their ass off all the way to the bank. Because they got paid to not acquire Warner Brothers. After they said we're going to acquire it and then they got the penalty fee on that. So they're the only ones that are still to say we don't need to deal with all this fucking headache. We got paid and we're going to reinvest that and make Netflix a stronger presence in this whole thing. So I don't know man, we'll see where this goes. I'm sure that you know, California didn't exactly want to lose another studio and another business. So that made it got these guys talking. But do you care? I mean, I kind of care but not really. From the legal standpoint of things, it's interesting. Yeah. Greg asked us why we were continuing to cover this when it was on when he was on the show. And we both said we don't want to. We don't have fun. We don't like it. But we have started covering it from the beginning and we're kind of trying to see it

1:20:06Ed Sheeran, Maclamor fallout that has been going on. The general gist of this is that Maclamor made a pro Palestinian comment at a concert, I believe he was touring with Sheeran. And Ed responded by basically cutting him off of the tour and stating Ed Sheeran saying that he wasn't going to take a stand on to anything, which is Patrick has pointed out in the bandwagon or chat, not taking a stand is taking a stand. This is generated an immense amount of backlash. Everybody backed out of Ed Sheeran's tour sponsors. This is like, this is like the good, good golf sort of controversy, but attached to the entertainment industry. Everybody just ran to the hills and said, nope, we're out of here. Have you been following this story this week, Tony? I mean, it's the funny thing about it. I get both sides of it, free speech. You can support whoever you want to. And then I get the other side is like, this is a business. They're trying to

1:21:10make money. They're not trying to piss off people and not have them come to the show. It's almost as if he's saying, I don't really care what side you're on. We're here to talk about music. At the same time, a lot of music stands for a lot of the problems that are going out of the world. So it's a really interesting thing. What really kicks me is the fact that Macklemore also got called out for wearing like a juiced stereotype costume on stage, denied it twice and then was brought up to the attention of the details in which he wore it for. And then said, oh, yeah, that's what I did. So like, everybody kind of has problems here. The funny thing to me is that Ed Sheeran, I don't think has really said anything. And so I don't know. I don't. He's been very middle of the road. And not yeah, he hasn't wanted to take a stand, which this Patrick points out is kind of taking a stand. But you know, when you've got what what happened? Let me read this again. So all of his opening acts, all of his opening acts and Sheeran's backing band dropped out of the concert. So that's

1:22:11resulted in Robert Kraft, Gillette Stadium's owner and the owner of the New England Patriots, matching Sheeran's $2 million donation for humanitarian relief efforts in the region. Sorry, it's because I was looking at that other thing. I was reading it. But yeah, so everybody backs out of this thing. Robert Kraft has to jump in and match the donation for humanitarian relief efforts. Look, I will say this. And you know, I haven't talked to ASOP to see what he thinks about this. But as somebody of Jewish heritage, as somebody who, you know, my family lost people in the concentration camps, I understand Israel's position in this whole thing. I really do. They have a right to defend themselves. They have a right to say never again. This issue between Israel and Palestine is far more involved than anything that I want to discuss on an entertainment based podcast. And it's it goes deeper than that. Do I think that this war has gone in a direction that is uncomfortable and unjustified? Probably. You know, the fact that there's many thousands of Palestinian

1:23:16children getting who are caught in the crossfires dying unnecessarily is that a problem? Absolutely. It is a humanitarian crisis. But you know, on the other hand, I don't, I don't think it's so easy. This is not a black and white sort of thing that there's a right in the wrong here. This goes back thousands, literally thousands of years, the conflict that is happening over there. So I get everybody's position on this thing and everybody has the right to their own opinion. I'm not not taking away anything from that. But in the context of what's happened here, where, you know, Maclamore wanted to make a statement in support of this stuff and this humanitarian efforts, sharing by firing him or removing him does end up taking a pro-Israeli stance. And that's going to create some problems. I mean, and that's the thing. Like, I don't know that necessarily. And I'm not trying to defend anybody, just the perspective I'm getting. I don't think he's taking a pro-Israeli stance. I think he's taking a anti-political stance. Right. Like so, so say you go to a dinner party

1:24:20and the post is like, okay, guys, I'm so glad we're all here. I love all of you. I can't wait to have great conversations tonight. Two rules, no religion, no politics. Not an unheard of kind of rule and not a bad thing for a get together of acquaintances or a business. And that's the whole other thing. This isn't just like whatever, you know, it's this is a business decision as well. So I'm not trying to defend either side. I'm just trying to kind of look at it from all sides. You know, no, I agree. And I think you know, not wanting to mix politics into this whole thing is a smart decision. I mean, these guys are under the crucible anyway. So the fact that, think about it is too, you could almost classify this as the longest religious war ever. There's so much religion built into this too. So yeah, it's a double edged sword all wrapped into one ball here. Right. And that's what I meant. I mean, it's like, you can't you can take a stand and you can, I think all of us agree the humanitarian crisis is a problem. A big problem, no matter whether you're

1:25:23pro-Israeli, pro-Palestinian, the fact of the matter is kids are dying. And that's a problem. But this was live aid or something like that. And or whatever you want to talk about that is like kind of the benefit, like, less fortunate or to different rings of that nature. And whoever was running that kind of took that stance, well, maybe then you kind of got to express it a little bit better and come out with something that you, a statement regarding the whole thing as opposed to where Ed Sheeran's bit. But I don't know. I don't really have much more else to say about it, but you know, not to make light of it. And I'm not, but just to kind of reciprocate a history lesson here. This has been going on for over 5,000 years. That's what I meant. And it is too complicated and too deep a topic to be able to just say it's a black or white question because it's not, you know, it, it's not. The only thing I think most people agree on is that there is a humanitarian crisis

1:26:25going on. How do we get it? How do we deal with that? How do we get out of that? And that's the big thing. Everything else, pro-Palestinian, pro-Israel, you're, you're conflating issues at the same time, you know, you're, you want to shovel or cycle the humanitarian aspect of things into a greater political question. And I don't know if you can really do that in all fairness to anybody's position on this thing. But that's the big controversy that was going on this week. 1:29:31Tani, you know, Batman, where do you put him as far as like importance of characters? I mean, is he, is it him and Superman 1A1B? Does anybody from the Marvel side matter as much as Batman? What is Batman mean to you? It's the first comic book movie I saw. My grandparents took me to see the Michael Keaton's Batman, the first one. And I think we went and saw the second one too. Yeah, I think I did. And it was just epic. And it was great. And the iconicness of having the Joker be the first one. And then the second one, the characters that you had playing the penguin in Catwoman were just phenomenal, right? Along with it. Christopher Wocking was in one or both of them as a bad second one. Yeah. Second one. Yeah. But Batman is, is gotta be, boy, you know, the, the recent, the very recent, resurgence of Spider-Man. And I don't know this Spider-Man ever really went

1:30:35anywhere. But I don't know that I put Iron Man or Thor even with this latest run of Marvel and the whole Avengers saga up there with Batman. I think Spider-Man is probably the closest to it currently in the world we live in and the kind of media like we don't really, we're not really talking comic books, I guess necessarily in this conversation. I think we're more talking, you know, portrayals and movies and live action and I mean animation as well. But yeah, but I would say, you know, Superman's always there. But right now I'd have Batman. And technically you could have Spider-Man, Batman, Superman for me right now for what we cover. I think that's the popularity scale here. Overall, I put him second behind Superman in history. Yeah, I think, I think it's a fair statement. I mean, if you're taking everything into consideration, especially some recent-see bias as well, then Spider-Man's every time, regardless of the performance underneath the call, let's put it that way. Right. And that is why the big problem with DC right now

1:31:37is like we don't have a Batman. We need Batman. But I mean, look at the anticipation for Batman too. And the only person I know who doesn't really like the Batman with Robert Pattinson is DJ. Yeah, he hates that. But he's the only one I know. But yeah, I think when you and begrudgingly, I will admit that I think even though Superman's my favorite, I know I'm in the minority there. I know most people are going to prefer Batman. It's darker, it's grittier. That kind of lines up with the world view of a lot of people nowadays. Where Superman is to pie in the sky, goody-touches, boys scout, which I always push back on that and say, yeah, but he's basically a god who decides not to subjugate everybody. He takes the high road. He does the right thing. But I would say, you know, based on the movies and what's going on lately, yeah, I think Spider-Man's probably right there. I think in historically Spider-Man's, you only one of the Marvel characters with, I mean, maybe the X-Men as a group you could put in there as well. But I'd say Spider-Man's right there

1:32:40was Superman and Batman as far as historically speaking. And like you're saying, certainly from the recent standpoint of things, yeah, you got to put Spider-Man easily up there with the other two guys. But you know, we'll see what happens with if they ever get a Batman in place and they ever do something with Batman that, you know, we'll see what happens. Okay, ready for the list? Yeah, okay. So here's the list that Tony came up with. Our top five Batman actors. And I think, yeah, Tony, it was your idea. Why don't you go first rather than do like we normally do because there's going to be crossover everywhere. Sure, right. But I want to, if you're okay, I want, you know, usually we do something like 10 to 1 or 5 to 1. I think there's better suspense in going starting at the top and moving down to the bottom because I feel like the first three are almost shoe ins. Possibly. Okay, I'll play with you. Yeah, all right. So my number

1:33:43one Batman portrayal actor wise all time is Michael Keaton. I seen the the the movies in the theater as a kid. I thought he was excellent as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, you know, he was really lucky to be surrounded by some great villains in both of those movies. And I and despite like people not loving the person who portrayed the flash or maybe the storyline told in the recent movie, he did an excellent part coming back, reprising his role so many years later. So my favorite Batman of all time is Michael Keaton's Batman. My number one is Christian Bale. Okay, so and that's mainly because like you're saying, the great portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman as well. The dark night trilogy is one of the one of the greatest trilogies of all time. And yeah, Christian Bale got helped immensely in that second movie, the dark night by the unbelievable performance of Heath leisure as a Joker who, you know, like you're saying in the Michael Keaton ones, you had an unbelievable

1:34:48performance of the Joker by Jack Nicholson that seemingly could not be topped until Heath came along and he said, okay, now we got a conversation. And I love Christian Bale's portrayal of Bruce, the dark night trilogy because it's got that darker feel to it. And the Batman stuff with Keaton, the first two movies are great. They're a little campy in certain places, which is okay. It's okay. Yeah, it's a great transition from the recent seat, from the from the most recent thing people had witnessed, which was a television show. So it was a big advancement there. Right. I will say it all go number two because my number two is Michael Keaton. And I imagine your number two is probably Christian Bale. So or maybe not. I don't know. It is. It is. That's why I wanted to start at the top. I didn't think and I think I don't know if we're going to get the same person next, but I think the person I have third is definitely on your list as well. But yeah, I I as far as as far as the like and I think Christian Bale is definitely the second best Batman.

1:35:48Right. I love it. You can make fun of the voice and all that stuff. But this this it is a great trilogy. It is a great story. There are great actors in this one as well. So it is grittier. It is more that kind of street level justice going on here. You know, a lot of makeup. Watch me make a pencil disappear. You know, so yeah, I just this is this is this is really close. This is not like a big separation for me. Right. Well, I'm like the dark. Go ahead. No, finish it up. Finish it up. No, I was gonna say the dark night is the only superhero movie that I look at that I will put up against endgame and infinity war and say yeah, that can hold its own and against those two movies very well. And ask me from one day to the next which one is my number one and it'll change from one day ending in a Y to a different day ending in a Y. But go ahead. Who is your number three? I'm interested on this one, Tony. Number three, Batman the animated series The Legendary

1:36:48Kevin Conroy's portrayal is just something that is lost in the sauce for people who aren't serious, you know, DC or Batman fans and just the things that he was able to accomplish with that series and how iconic his vocal portrayal was in that in that series kind of elevated it even more. We lost them. I don't think not this year. Last year or yeah. So just an icon definitely and for me, someone that probably doesn't get as much credit as you know, adding to the bad the legacy of Batman. Let's see if we've got three and four reversed again because I've got Conroy number four for me. My number three is Pattinson. I got our pat is my number three. I sorry, Deach. I vehemently disagree with you on this point, but I love Robert Pattinson's portrayal of Batman. Because he it's a younger Batman. It's an early Batman. It's a Batman who's still learning his way and making some mistakes, but at the same time doing a lot of early Batman-ish things.

1:37:54We did not get to see enough of him as Bruce Wayne. That's my only complaint and the reason why I can't put him higher or even consider him in the top two, which I wouldn't consider him anyway. But I loved his portrayal in that movie and that's why I've got him at number three. I want to see more of him as Bruce Wayne in this second Batman. Whenever 2028 we're looking at now for fuck's sake. But I want to see what he does in that and see if that really elevates him on this list a little bit, but I have got Conroy number four is for me because of his unbelievable work and the animated Batman stuff. And just everything you did, everything that you said is main reason why I've got Conroy at number four. But who's your number four? So you know I'm a big fan of comedy and you know I'm a big fan of Lego. It's Lego Batman. It's Will Arnett. I think that's an awesome kind of different type of story that was told there and I thought he did wonderfully. I love his voice as well. You know Batman doesn't

1:38:54always have to be a person in a suit. It can be the voice behind the superhero as well. And I just I love the Lego Batman series. I love the Lego movies in general. So it was a pretty easy decision. This is and it's this is what we talk about on bad ragnars. We come over the list. It's our list. This is my favorites. These are Dave's favorites. So yeah, there's going to be you're probably going to ask me to list like three or four guys in order after I'm done with this list because you're going to want to know how I rank them. But my number five is not modern at all. So a lot of those guys are not going to make my top five. My number five and for very good reason is Adam West. These are number five as well, Tony. Just to see you know, your reason is iconic. And I don't know that anyone has been bigger in the world as or in the country as Batman when they played Batman as Adam West Batman. Like you can talk about how much money different Batman made at the movie theater and you can talk about their performance and their portrayal and is it serious as it

1:39:57hokey as it can't be as it this is at that. But everybody knew who Adam West was. He was Batman back then. There was never more popular portrayal throughout the United States in its current glory than when Batman was at its peak with Adam West. I got a bit number five for a lot of the same reasons. I mean, for what Batman was when the series was going on, which was very campy and schlocky, Adam West was the perfect Batman for that time frame. Absolutely perfect. And you know, there's so many things about that show that are just iconic, you know, Billard Ward's the villains, Bert Ward's Robin, holy shitballs Batman and you know, and the iconic Batmobile, you know, with the flames coming out of the back. I mean, we'll see it that Comic-Con's right? The cut scenes, if in the pile of the comic, kind of, if Paul Boomb as well. There's, I mean, there for what it was when I was a kid and that theme song for God's sake, that theme song is a banger. Did that not make our intro in the 70s

1:41:01or it's a 60s show? That's probably why we didn't go back to Batman. Yeah, it is a 60s show. But the use of the utility belt too, like almost every episode had a different kind of utility belt thing. The phone to the commissioner as well. So yeah, I mean, it was, it was really well done for its time. I mean, if you wanted to know, you just taken with the green assault, it's still really cool. The introduction of a lot of bullets. It's fun for what it is. Yeah, so Pat and Cindy, make your list, but I have a sue me, say, your honorable mention number one or something. So if I continued in order with the rest of them, which would be basically the major film actors for the most part, I would rank them Affleck six, Pat and Sin seven. Wow. Yeah, I like, I didn't, I liked Affleck as Batman. I thought he was really good as this brooding billionaire, right? And I like Batman versus Superman. So if everybody can kiss my ass, um, Martha, how do you know that name? Um, and then, uh, at eight, I would have to go

1:42:05Kilmer and Clooney nine. Yeah. Um, I'd probably say, yeah, based on the stuff you've got, like Arnet would be my next one. Um, I liked Val Kilmer better than Ben Affleck. I know he's only one, I know he's only one movie, but I thought Val nailed Bruce Wayne really well. And honestly, George Clooney nailed Bruce Wayne really well. Batman was a travesty, but George Clooney pulled off the Bruce Wayne aspect of things quite well. Kilmer and Clooney kind of suffered from getting the weakest storyline movie wise, right? Like, well, Kilmer had to deal with Val had to deal with Jim Kerry and Tommy Lee Jones who carried the shit out of that movie and, and, you know, it's, and Jim Kerry was just so over the top. And, and yeah, Clooney had to deal with, um, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Freeze. So that's the problem with that. But I, you know, I mean, yeah, I think with Batman, there's a conversation. Like when you turn this around and say, well, who's a great of Superman actor of all time, if you say anybody by Christopher Reeve

1:43:07than you're lying to yourself and it's, and it just goes from, from there, you can discuss things further, but, um, but Batman's a little bit more of a nuanced conversation, but, uh, good stuff, Tony. I, that was a fun little project, a little surprising. I, we had a little bit of a difference of opinion. That was good stuff. Um, last thing before we cut out of here today, I kind of wanted to go from top down. I think if we, it's a little obvious, you know, you're kind of wondering who's going to make the list there at the bottom, right? Right. Right. Last thing we say here on bandwagon nerds before we cut out every week is what you've been watching, Tony. I'll tell you right now I had not had a chance to watch much of anything this past week. That's kind of how things have been lately for me too, but I did get a chance to, um, catch a couple more episodes of Kitchen Nightmares. It's been a really good season. So if you have Hulu and you like Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay, um, there's, boy, I think there's 10, 11 of the episodes are out. I'm hoping there's at least one or two more, but they might be done. I know Master Chef came to its conclusion, uh, which was a really good two part finale. And I know, uh,

1:44:11Hell's Kitchen's going to be starting up again. So there's your little PC Tony watching Gordon Ramsay update. The NFL is back. So that takes away even a little bit more time, uh, from viewing things as well. I'm trying to think if there's anything else that I decided to, to step into always watching Kill Tony, but did you have anything else you caught that's new and brand new? And folks, we got three episodes left of lanterns, which is going to lead perfectly into the following episode of bandwagon nerds covering the first episode of Vision Quest or all we're going to cover that because I think Disney's releasing them all at once. So, October 14th Vision Quest comes out, right? That's, yep. It's, you know, it runs perfectly. There'll be no week in between. There'll be no double coverage. Yeah, double coverage. What the commanders need to do to George Pickens and CDM, but yeah, that's, that's not going to happen. No, I, I've not seen other than I, I reviewed it on the latest edition of unidentified history that, uh, documentary on the Kote photo,

1:45:11which is probably the most impactful UFO photo or one of the best ones of all time. Um, but other than that, man, it's just, it's been a busy week is stuff going on. What's up? I caught a new game show. It's been on for a little bit. Um, Lovar Burton is hosting Scrabble. Really? And it's a kind of a new really cool concept to it. And I, I kind of, I enjoyed it. It's a quick half hour. So if you got a DVR or whatever, you know, check it out, I'm not sure it's syndicated here on our CW channel, but I'm guessing you can find it somewhere. So if you like Scrabble, you like Lovar Burton. There you go. This one is Monster Trucks. This one is Pornow. This one is both. So, you know, yeah, a little bit of both. I don't answer the one I'm meeting. You know, if you get three nachos sucked together, it's comfortable. It's just one nacho. That's right. Um, but now I'm hoping to get back to watching some more, some more stuff this week. It's just been not the best of week to sit down and watch TV other than getting caught up on lanterns, which I need to do.
