Putting the ledge in the pool is like the best thing we did. I would go as far as saying.
The pool would suck without it. Growing up, I never swam on a pool that had a ledge. Oh, we had one. My, because growing up, we most, we swam in my grandpa Harold's pool most of the time. Rocky Harold Fugwin. Rocky Harold Fugwin. And that pool did not have, that pool did not have a ledge. Yeah, I'm trying to think. Ludges. Okay, don't worry. I don't, I can't recall seeing a swimming ledge until very recently. Really? Yeah. So that was a great call by you, because I didn't, I thought we may not even need a swimming ledge. Yeah, we were almost got rid of our swimming ledge and date today she played on the swimming ledge for hours. One of your friends' message and told us that was where they spend the most time. Libby. Libby, thank you. Libby. She, I said we were thinking about making it smaller. She said, I'd go bigger. Nope. So I'd go the opposite way. Yep. All right. Ready? Ready. Can I just do this really quick? Yeah, but you need the ASMR.
Okay. You need the ASMR. I love it. That was a really good one. Boom. That was a 9.2. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. It's Monday. And football has officially kicked off. And there's a pun there. Get it? Very good pun. Very good pun. Harrison has a hurt finger. I was wondering about that. Freec accident. Actually, a freec accident. What happened? My glass fell. As it fell, I went to catch it. As I was going into catch it, it broke as it hit the surface. And I still caught the glass. But I caught the bottom half and the top half was shattered. And I have a nasty gash. Ow. Yeah. I don't love that.
It is very deep apparently. It is. I wasn't there. It was so unlucky. And there's, yeah, there's so much blood. It sucks. Oh, there's nothing worse. Yeah. So we're just like, we're not moving it. We have it wrapped up pretty tight. We didn't go get stitches, which I feel like I'm going to regret. It's okay. Do they just do the glue these days? Or they actually stitching you up? I don't know. I bought glue. We got glue. So after this, we're going to do some hydrogen peroxide glue. A really good tape up because Harrison goes out of town today. Yeah. I was with two friends at the end. And we just all looked around at each other. I cannot believe that just happened. Transparenely, I was texting P about something because I needed to check something. I didn't hear what happened. Accommodal glass and it broke at the same time. I appreciate the transparency. I appreciate it. I appreciate it. You caught a glass and it broke. Yeah, that does stink. I will tell you one funny thing.
The friends as with are incredibly caring friends. And the types of friends that if I needed to go to the hospital definitely would have 100% gone to the hospital to get stitches with me. They would have definitely. But I needed to dispel very early on. You could see they're waiting to be like, how bad is this? And I was like, don't worry I have this covered. Because it happened very late at night. It was the other thing. But it wasn't a drunk in Ordeal. And so I was like, don't worry. I've got this. Everyone can go home. It was as our ubers were being ordered. The ubers outside. And I was asleep at home. And Harrison came. And listen, I know better than this. I'm not proud of it, but I'll tell him myself. And he walked. So I'm knocked out. And I was so excited like I went to bed early and I had cleaned that house and done rocket. Like I had to such a productive night.
This was probably to say, I said late. That's late for us. And this is probably, I'm home maybe 15 to 20 minutes after the UT game ends. You got a 10-40, I looked at the clock. Yeah. So we're talking 10-40 PM, not like midnight one, too. 10-40 very late for me. Comes in, turns on the light. And I'm like, well, we can't be doing that. And I like woke up and he's like, everything's okay. And I'm like, but. And he's like, but I did get a gash in my hand and I need you to help me. Maybe we need to go get stitches. And I can't believe I said this, Jules. I don't even think I can say it. It's fine. I was like, you can Uber to get the stitches. No, it's so mean. But I was like, we got the kids here. And I was like, I got it, don't worry. And I think the tape job won't well. And this morning I was like, and that's why today I was like, we will go to CBS and we will get you glue and all these things and we're going to fix it. Okay, good. Because it was very mean. I was so tired and disoriented. And then I was like, if you said that to me, I would cry. Not event. I would cry if you said that to me. Not event.
So I'm really sorry for that. It's going to mess with my training, though. I was thinking how happy I was that this didn't happen right before the high rocks. I couldn't have done the high rocks without it. Yeah, here's the thing. It's very Michael Jordan flu game. You could. No, I could like. No, but that's the thing. It would go. It would just every time I move my thumb, it's just blood. You would just have, well, if you had high rocks. You blood all over the equipment. Well, then tell your story now. Tell your story about the girl. Okay, there's a big, there's a big high rock story. We're coming to the official high, the unofficial official high rock spot cast. So, and we're going to need to put the tweet up. There was a girl who competed in the Beijing. In the Beijing high rocks. And she pooped herself in the high rocks. And she completed covered in poop and poop went all over the course. And they let her compete. Why? Because it's a thing that happens in marathon and marathon. It's a huge thing. That's fine. High rocks is an hour. High rocks, it has to be a poop free sport. It has to be a poop free sport.
The marathon, marathon's your outside number one. I find if you poop in the marathon. And the course distance, the course is huge in a marathon. The high rocks course is very condensed. There's only like 50 spots per routine. So like, that means... Why are it, wait, it's not that competitive. Like, are you kidding me? Here's also the thing. It is that competitive. There's a rule in high rocks. You get suspended. You get kicked out of the race. If you like, take a gel in the middle of the race and throw it on the floor. Like, you get disqualified. There's all these different things in high rocks that allow you to get disqualified. You need to keep the course clean. That includes poop. It's not unreasonable. It includes, it's the top of the list. Jeff, for example, drank some water over a trash can. And he got a warning because they don't want the ground to be wet so you slip. Like, you can't be pooping. Yeah, I couldn't believe that they let this fly. But why? I almost want to think it's a fake story, but I saw it so much on Twitter that I believe. What were people saying? Like, you got to leave.
You got to go to the bathroom and come out. But she needs to leave. That's what I'm saying. That was on her. Like, it's just, it's not your race. It's like you, you know, you tore your ACL. Like, it's not... You got to... No, if you tear your ACL and you want to keep going fine. Okay. That's a heroic story for me. If you want to puke in rally, fine, but you puke in the trash can. Yeah, people online, they're not too happy. I'm not happy. If I was competing and I might see shitsdains on like during my wallballs. No, like, you got to go to the bathroom. What's it? It might add four minutes to it. The pyrox is very good at updating the rules consistently. I think they're going to issue... I think they're going to put out a rule that makes this a disqualification. And they'll use good wording. Like, if you are... If there's any fluid that comes out of your body and creates a disruption on the course,
Allah, blood, Allah, pupe, you're disqualified. Because if it's blood, it's the same thing. Like, you can't be bleeding all over the course. You cannot be. You... And here's the other thing. Maybe we can get some bathrooms nearby. And you can go in that way. But like, if I pooped in my pants, I would be more to fight normally. Have you seen the videos? No. It's very graphic. And she keeps going. It's not like she pooped and you couldn't tell. It was everywhere. Jewels, you've seen the videos now? No, I have. Yeah. And they're just allowing you to continue? Yeah. And there's so many judges in these races. Like... Did she look like, oh no? No. So for context, like during the wallballs, you have to throw a wall against a ball and do a squat 100 times. Each person has their own dedicated judge. And then there's master judges that sit behind your judge to help enforce like the broader rules. So it's not like a marathon where like maybe you can kind of like slip between the cracks.
Throughout every event, there's someone watching you making sure you're doing it correctly. You don't know. And it works definitely saw that she had pooped. She doesn't look embarrassed. And I think that was part of the backlash online. It's like not on her on like where was the intervention from the race organizers? Yeah. And even if it's like go clean up. Yeah. Like I would even be like, I guess we could pause the clock for you. If you please, please just go to the bathroom. Yeah. All right. So on from pooping. It's about a training. Or from pooping to potter training. Look at this. What is it? From pooping to potter training. Toilet learning. Toilet learning. Yeah. We are not potter training. We are toilet learning. I want to. Wait. Okay. So we still need to do the joke on the neighbors. Okay. And we're going to do it. We need to tell them we're calling it urine and defecating. What's the word? Feeces. Feeces. Yearn and feces. But the other thing I want to do is is try to film myself having a serious conversation with
somebody and tell them we're not. We're not potter training. We're toilet learning. And our house. Yeah. I'm torn on this one. Because once again, on one end, it's ridiculous to die hard with things. But on the other end, as seeing it, they're very different things. But we can't take the credit for this one. Versus like, like if someone says, like, how did, you know, I think a lot of things is like, how did you transition from the snoo to the crib? Like we did things there. And it comes to this. We did nothing. No, but we did. We did. We ordered the toilet. Yeah. So we just started showing her. This is how you go to the bathroom. She crushed it. She crushed it. She has toilet awareness. She has major toilet awareness. And like, Jules, today, she has, she crushed it. And she's done such a good job. And we've had a party every time. She dumps it in. The real toilet. We flush it. We say bye-bye. Like, it's a whole thing. It's very exciting.
I'm doing something that I don't normally do. What? But I'm having a second energy drink. I mean, you guys have been here for 15 minutes. Did you finish that one? That's a lot of caffeine in the short amount of time. I'm not sure you could do energy at this point. I just, it's so good that I just want to have more of it. Okay. I agree. And I have a long flight. I have a big to-do list of work things to do on this flight. Okay. So let's talk about your trip. So this is Sunday, by the way, because episode here is tomorrow morning. Here's the only thing I'm going to, I mean, to see on my trip. Harrison's gone Sunday. I'm very excited for this. It's a work thing. But it's a social oriented work thing. It's like a conference. Yeah. More or less. Exactly. Very well put. Which is like a bunch of guys in this industry and they kind of all go to the same spot. Which do you want to say where you're going? Yeah. Yeah. I'll be in Seattle.
So while I'm very excited for the trip, like the number one, like the big shift in mindset, I don't even shift in mindset. But like, I'm so excited to go, I am so excited to come back and be home and spend time with the family. Not only are you so excited to come back, you come back Wednesday. Yeah. In the top streets of birthday is Thursday. It is. And you guys, there are some things I'm so excited. Like when Tate was three months old, we took her to five pump compactures. She had no idea she was there. She couldn't even hold her head up. This age now, we went to CBS today. We played with all the Halloween toys. She's going to love Halloween. I keep asking her, who's birthday is? It's just my birthday birthday, per tape. Like she knows she's, how would he going to be two? Are you going to have a birthday party? Yeah. Do you want to invite Swade? Yes. She knows, for the most part what's going on, I'm so excited for her birthday. The big difference between one and one and a half and two is I feel like when your kid
is one, you're doing things for them that are from an experience perspective that are very much about their development, but not necessarily appreciated by them and where the flip has switched at her now being two. Is she appreciates the experiences that we give her? Yes. So while they're good for development, now you see the excitement on her face. And both dance class and gymnastics are a phenomenal idea this morning when we brought her into the bed. We're like, what do you want to do this morning? And she thought about gymnastics. Yeah. Yeah. Oh no. You know, okay, we're putting her in something that she's really enjoying. She loves gymnastics, but yesterday it was funny because we were at gymnastics and she was really into it. And then you know what, I grabbed my purse to leave and she was like, Tates purse. So we went and got Tates purse. We put him in the car. When we got to gymnastics, I was like, I'll just grab my purse.
I grabbed my purse. She's like, Tates purse. I get Tates purse. Half of it through gymnastics, she went over to her purse, started grabbing all her items out of it and was handing them out to people. And I was like, we might not have an athlete. We might have more of a fashion used to honor hands. We're going to wait it out and see. But like Tates purse, like handing an egg and a bracelet and we were doing all that. She was really loving it. Really loving talking to me. Do you think it would have been different? I didn't go to gymnastics yesterday. I had to work outside. I made plans with three other folks. So I got to work out. So I got to work out. So I got to work out. Yeah. I made plans and it conflicted. Hold on. I didn't say that as though like he went to work out. I'm saying, I think it's cool that you did. Okay. It was an unfortunate time. One thing I want to make very clear on this podcast so maybe we could stop hedging about it is like when you go and do things, you get to go and do them because you are so involved all the time and vice versa. Like you going working out on a son a Saturday morning is like not a thing. Yes, but I will normally plan my workout around gymnastics. To not conflict with anything that we're doing with her.
This was plans made with three other people. Yeah, but I'm just saying it wasn't a thing. Yeah. Okay. But do you think if I was there, do you think that me not being there should less focus on gymnastics? Yes, because you get on the balance being like Harrison, if they say you're going to roll down the mat, Harrison rolls down the mat. Sure. What to do? And I was on the bouncing with their showing her, but you're more animate like you're making sure you're doing it well. So then like she wants to do it well. You went on the balance, being good for you. Thank you. We never talked about your cartwheel the other day. I finally did one. Yes. Did she like it? She loved it, Jules. We tried. I would have put that in the video, but her shirt was like lifting up. We tried to do the cartwheel for 10 minutes afterwards for her. Very difficult for her to understand. Hand hand foot foot. Yeah, that's too hard right now, but I would say our current favorite thing to do is ride the horsey where she gets on your back.
And we did it. And then done done done done done. It's not so difficult. Does it everywhere? Does it. Yeah, but anywhere that's possible. So the birthday, very excited about that. She's very excited about it. I think the biggest hurdle we're going to have is once the birthday is over explaining to her that her, but it's not her birthday. I think we might have it is every day not everyone's birthday type moment, which is really cute. Yes, but I'm. I'm confident in her ability to understand that over time. Well, the good news is like maybe we could just be somebody else's birthday. Yes. And then we can be like, okay, now it's their birthday. Oh, well, it's 20s birthday. Perfect. So then it goes from take to 20. Yeah. So we can just do a little transition there. Yeah. Okay, great. So yesterday was, you know, the start, would you call the start of college football? Yes. Because while it's technically week three, this was the first week that you had like real games. And a lot of feedback on both of our kids being in burnt orange, a lot of feedback, a hefty
amount of feedback. And even today at brunch, like, do you understand how big the OU Texas rivalry is? Because what they were saying at brunch day, we ran into a guy that's from A&M. They're like, you can wear your ag you color here, but like you, like you can't, like, oh, it's the, I'm from the biggest rivalry school. Do you understand that? Our biggest, this is like an OU sign. It's horns down. So like my friends were like, what? It's not like you decided that you were a Notre Dame fan. No, I get it. I, well, sorry, it's actually hard. Because while I get it on paper, I clearly don't get it emotionally. People were like, oh, I'm shocked. Number two, the other side is like, we live here. Like, it's the home team. But so like this is where Kate and Rocky were born. Yeah. So it's going to be a good debate.
This is going to be the thing. You know, do I go where I live currently or do I, do I have my alma mater? And for you, I totally get you stick with your alma mater. That makes all the sense in the world to me. But for the kids, like this is where the kids were born. If the kids were born in Oklahoma, I would, I could totally see it them, them going sooner. But this is the problem. This is the problem. They should be both. But it's so, I guess like that's the thing. If I went to USC, I would be like, okay, half the time we're going to wear USC outfits and then we're going to like change into our Texas outfits. I think it's jaw dropping because people are like, well, it's the, those, the two, you're going to go for both the rivals. Yeah. Is like a OSU alum and having their kids in Michigan stuff. Yes. Like hard. Is that hit more? So my point is I'm, I've ordered Tate some OU outfits. And I'm very supportive of that. Well, you wanted to get a know you have.
Harrison was like, I'm going to get a know you hat because I want to ride. I'm going to really cool. Are you bucking hat? Yeah. And I was, because you were like, you went there. I want to like ride with this school too. 100% And what I realized yesterday when I posted that with the amount of shock people were experiencing was like, okay, these are two rival schools. Like I didn't just pick another random school. But yeah, it is where we like, yeah, we also like we took the caddy. We took it to campus before the game. We were riding around music, blasting horns up. And I went into the rally dog store and I bought all the kids matching UTF. Which is like the best thing ever. Yeah. So no, no, no, there's also not that much like that was just kind of the, like, we didn't buy them weeks ago in anticipation of this. We bought them that morning. Oh no, I think it's the cutest thing ever. But I'm just saying we need to lift on the red side a little bit now. We got it. We got to, we got to just write our wrongs. Yeah. Let's get her the same. I'm happy to have the same outfits for both of them. But I feel like they're naturally going to be UT fans. Like this is where they're from. They are, but they're going to know mama mama mama, mama boomer.
How about that? Not really. What are you going to, it was called the red red river ride. It's possible to say. So what are you going to, what are you going to wear that day? What's taken away? Well, here's the IOs. We went to a tailgate party in Dallas and Rocky and I wore UT colors and Alex and Tate were Oklahoma colors. You need a house divided flag. Yeah, let's do that. That's a good one. I'm good with whatever. They actually do make those house divided flags. They're so funny. Yeah. Let's get a house divided flag. There's a literal divide on the flag and it's part, oh, you part, Texas. Let's do that. I'm up for whatever. Well, I know you are, but I'm just saying Harrison said to me at the start of the season, I'm going to ride with you. And I was like, great. So he's got his bike. We do have some gear. I just thought we could ride both of that. We just kind of like everyone from OU would understand. And what I've realized is they don't, they're not understanding that. Yeah. We just, here's, here's my point. We got to get some crimson, which was on me. I just do it. I, yeah, I want a bucket hat and I want more T-shirts.
And just to level set with the, when we set up the theater downstairs, oh, Harrison God, we have top left corner. Texas top right, Texas helmet top right corner. Oh, you helmet. So we're supposed to put the coasters, Texas coasters. Oh, you coasters. So yeah. No, no, honey, you have done a very good job wrapping OU with me. My point is yesterday on the interwide web. I posted the outfits of the house and then we needed to fix them. I would go as far to say, maybe we need to change for games. Maybe we need to have an OU outfit for the 11 o'clock. And by seven, we're in our Texas gear. Yeah, I'm happy to. Okay, maybe we'll do more of that. I'm happy to. What was your Saturday morning suggestion? Okay. Thank you, Jules. Moving on, killed this. My to the point of support, we're going to bring it all in here. Okay. 11 o'clock, Michigan OU. So what, what do I suggest? Well, Harrison, he was like, we're going to watch this game.
We're going to run, we're going to ride for OU. I'm like, let's cook a massive feast and invite a couple of families over. And let's watch the games and eat a big breakfast and how the kids run around. And the neighbors are better cooks than we are. So we went and got the groceries and took it to their house. Mine are pivot, minor pit, excels a breakfast. He is such a good cook. He's a very good, there's a couple of pieces to it. He's a very good cutter. And he has very good dishes. Like he has a cast iron that is, it's so big, it goes across like two of the heat plates. And so when he goes and makes, you know, his breakfast potatoes, he can just put so much more in there. Okay. So I think if you're looking for things to do as a parent on a Saturday morning, 10 o'clock breakfast, invite two other families over and have the games on.
In the background, buffet style, we did make your own breakfast tacos, eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese, avocado. Yeah, just all the toppings is good. All the traditional breakfast foods, you know, just and some people, breakfast, some people were making breakfast bowls. Some people were making tacos. I have a, I have a bigger over the week for you guys on this topic. What do you guys think about eating non breakfast food for breakfast? Okay. Yesterday I had pork chops and rice. It's a hungover move. That's what I think about it. What? It's a hungover move to eat non breakfast food for breakfast. You wake up and you smash a burger or pizza for breakfast. It's because you're hungover. I'm not talking about a burger or pizza. Like this morning, I had a quarter of a, um, cobbabob's burrito for breakfast. I thought I was going to be sushi. That's a hungover move. Just don't drink. I know that. But like if you're asking me, what do I, if I hear someone smashes a burrito,
half a burrito for breakfast, I'm like, oh, they had a big Saturday night. I'm fine with the burrito. I'm fine with a pork chop and rice. But I think it's an insane move. I think sushi is the question like sushi for breakfast. That doesn't feel right to me, but they do that in Japan all the time. So here's my thing. If I have something that's not a breakfast item for breakfast, I'm, it kind of runs my day like, come, like come lunch. I'm like, this is boring. This is a boring food day. I love that food group of breakfast being at breakfast. I get so excited for eggs in the morning. The other thing and I just saw Greg was posting about this and the power of like simplifying your food routine. That's me. Same meal. Doing that with breakfast where you can just hammer out amazing, clean, high protein foods, eggs, sausage, like avocado, done. I'll have sweet potato and chicken for breakfast. That is interesting.
Sweet potato and whatever meat that I have. That's a wild move. My friends are just like their, do you friends do that too? No, no, no, they're yelling at me for eating random food for breakfast. Yeah. Yeah, I think like a toast and egg. But why do you think that? I think there's like seven foods that are breakfast foods bacon. I think Jules is making a good point here that like why doesn't egg have to be for breakfast? I think that there was some marketing once upon a time, probably. No, she's right. Like eggs could go anywhere in the day. Yeah. Like do you guys eat eggs for dinner? I mean, I love a breakfast for dinner. But you look at what they're saying. Okay. Where did he go? I made breakfast at your apartment. Oh, he did and we did art. And then we did board games. We did connect for which is not really a board game. Game. Jules, I agree with you. I think it's a phenomenal point, but there are certain things in life that I subscribe to and eating eggs every day in the morning is one of them.
And I love it. I love it. If I, yeah, if I didn't like that, I would move it. Like you're moving your, you're putting sweet potatoes and chicken in the morning. Like if I wanted to do that, I would. And if I did that, I would like maybe eggs for dinner. I know all the time. Okay, guys, here's a fun one. Jules did not apply for a job here. There was no job. She just emailed me pitching herself for a role that did not exist. And then she followed up and then she followed up again. And I think somewhere around 10 emails deep, I was fine. We've started to ask her like in the mornings last, her what do you want to do? Because what you already talked about all this. I'm so glad that you did that. And not me. This has been happening to me. A lot since weaning. So much so jewels that I almost shower twice last night. So I got bed last night and I had my pajamas on and I was like, Oh my gosh.
I didn't shower. And then I was like, yes, you did. Wow. I know. I think it's a weaning thing. I'm pretty sure because it's it's directly correlated with that. Hmm. Yeah. I know. Interesting. So. All right. Let's move into some topics. Shall we? Do we want to move into some topics? Yeah. I'd one other thing that I'm blanking on, but let's get let's get on to the topics. Well, what do you think you're blanking on? You're going on your trip. We got Tate's birthday this week. I think it was the 10 o'clock breakfast suggestion. Okay. Is it Saturday, Saturday morning activity? Okay. Okay. You're not weaning. So you're not a lot of forget that. Yeah. That's such a good point. Jewels. Thank you for that. All right. Do we want to do Pokemon cards? It's a Harrison news topic. It's an H bomb. I mean, this is a Julie bomb. So it's in the A to the Harrison news category. Jewels share this one. Who is AJ Scaremuchee?
Anthony Scaremuchee's son. Okay. So he bought Logan Paul's Pokemon card for $16 million because he treats collectibles as alternative assets. He's predicting that cards will become, they'll be worth $5,000 to $100 million soon. The headline from this also was Pokemon cards have apparently outpaced the S&P 500 by 3000%. In the last 20 years. So my question, I guess we can go back. My question, I wanted to hear if he had anything on this, but to like, what are we saving that Rocky has right now? That's going to be worth $16 million in 20 years. Okay. If I had to guess, okay. There's a lot of inaccuracies within that statement. Kale's do it. Let's talk through what they are. Hold on. I should tell the story. Yeah. Should I take an hour at the coffee shop? And I ran into Olivia's husband and Kyle and his mom and swayed
and we were outside talking. And I felt just like this jab in my foot and I looked down. There was a bee stuck on it. And I was just like, Kyle, because I didn't want to freak out in front of a tape. I was just like, Kyle, you're going to have to get the bee out of my foot. Then he pulled out the bee and then he looked at me. He was like, the singer, the singer is still stuck in it. I need to pull the stinger. I was fine until last night. My foot swelled up so bad I could hardly walk. Oh, no. And now it's itching like crazy. Do you think you're slightly allergic to bees? No, I just think it's the venom. Right? I don't know. Oh, but once you itch it once. Ow, it's like puffy and red and hot. It's just crazy that a bee can do that to you. Yeah. I've never been sung by a bee. Oh, it's my second time. It's the worst. It's actually not the worst. It's fine. Yeah. Just kind of like move on. Okay. Great. All right. Um, so what what are they and accuracy in this football card? Pokemon card. Go.
Are have certain cards outperform the S&P 500? Yes. Have certain cards like drastically underperform the S&P 500? Absolutely. So on average, you think it's going to be less. I'm saying like, so I think these charizard cards are huge. Charizard. Remember? And um, were you going to poke him on Harrison? Yeah. I mean, everyone kind of growing up has their phase. I would think I very, very much was a part of my life as it is to most teenage boys. Um, so if you own that card, the returns are financial. But if you owned, you know, the basic, uh, jiggly puff, jiggly puff, then your toast and not to mention you, you had to buy it and you had to keep it in mint condition and there are a whole bunch of things you need to do to generate that return versus the S&P 500. You're just clicking and buying an, um, an ETF.
I guess like, I guess the, there's, there's so many ways to dissect that. So where I understand buying something and it gaining value is like art, for example, I really understand that it was painted. It's beautiful. It's framed. It's displayed. It's an art form quite literally like that. I can wrap my head around these, these like little cards. It's all supply demand. That's a tough one for me. Watch is Joria. I kind of can understand that as well. Supply demand Friday. My friend was talking about that she did her senior thesis on alternative asset assets talked about Birkenbegs. They're apparently like, and they appreciate the second you buy them. I guess I don't know. I, I understand that too though. I personally haven't really messed around with alternative assets other than crypto. And the main driver of that is I find them very hard to value when you look at the
sheer underlying fundamentals of them. It's like you can, when you buy a stock, you can value the company through its future earnings. There's a currency, a real currency. So this company makes a hundred dollars a year and it trades at 10 times those earnings. So if you own it for 10 years and all else stays equal, you'll get your money back in 10 years. Right. Versus with a lot of alternatives and what alternatives that's also like kind of a. So many things fit in the bucket of alternatives. So now we should, we actually need to clarify collectibles because I mess around a lot in alternatives. Collectibles I don't play around with because yeah, like I find it very hard to value them from a fundamental perspective. And it feels like so much of it is like understanding momentum and the pop culture dynamics.
And I'm just not in the loop of that. But people make a lot of money on them. Cars, for example. Yeah, that's the I'm just I don't mess. I don't, I don't mess with it. But some people do and some people make a lot of money doing it. Some people lose a lot of money. So he's predicting he's saying I'm going to buy a Pokemon card for 16 million, assuming he can sell it for 50 to 100. Yeah, so what I know about or what I've read about who would want to buy a $50 million card? Who would want to buy a $16 million card that the card. So I think what he's doing is he's creating a fund or a company and they collect, you know, the most rare. The most rare assets that just because they printed one card like what if I print one of something that's the only one of those. No supply. No demand. I mean, no demand. There you go. Very interesting. La Boo Boo. I wonder if like though that kind of had a thing that kind of had a. And I think the challenge with the boovo is with supply too much supply.
Ah, so is there anything going on right now that people are liking? Well, sports collectibles are, are having a moment. Baseball cards. Cards in general, having a moment. But the moment you bend it, it loses like so much value. Yeah. Do you know what else though? I find interesting like, okay, Dolly Parton, her guitar, you know, was worth X. Now it's worth so much more like Picasso, same thing. These people they die and it, everything that they had and touched rises in value. Yeah, I don't, I don't think, I don't know if I have anything insightful, overly insightful to say here. Other than I really don't understand the pricing mechanisms of collectibles. And that's why I don't play around with them. Because like I'll see something like Princess Diana. Do you know about her revenge dress? I'm sure you do.
I know exactly what it is. When she was born on July 1st, same. So I saw that her revenge dress is being auctioned off right now. How much is it being auctioned off for? I think that they're estimating it going for two to three hundred thousand dollars. Oh, that's like so much less than I would have thought. That was my point. Compared to a Pokemon card. And why are they auctioning it? Because the people who bought it, they bought it. Somebody already owns it. Somebody bought it and she auctioned it off at a charity auction. A couple bought it. One of the couples died. And the lady said the time just felt right. Okay. So she's going to auction it off. Yeah. But she got it for 65,000. The person that got it. And then they're going to make a hundred and fifty three hundred thousand. Pretty nice. It's good. But when did she buy it? She bought a Pokemon card over that time. She will be a lot more. 1997. So if we adjust for inflation. Yeah. I don't know. Not much.
Yeah. Long story short, I think it's cool that what are we asking me? I don't know. I just wondered if he had any of this. I think it's cool that he's doing this. I think that this is an area of the world that a lot of people are super passionate about. I don't personally mess around with it because I find it very hard to understand the pricing mechanisms of them. And I feel like it's an insider's game and I'm not on the inside. So I don't mess with that. And if you bought a $16 million card, where would you keep it in a vault or displayed on your desk in a glass box? I assume that all these things are secured and very, very, are stored in very, very secure places. Not in France. Not in France. There you go. Can I watch the video of the girl pooping or no? No. Okay. All right. So let's discuss. Let's do a little AI update because there's been some discourse. And we've discussed this over and over again. There's some people are scared. XYZ, the guy left, and then I think I did see a very funny video about that, which was just like, get a journal.
Like, we've all like, don't be a whistle. Like, don't be a whistleblower now. And like, we've already been, you know, blowing the whistle. Like, you've stock options for this. And like, we're all scared of it. And like, you're just like, see ya. You made me laugh. Look at that. Good joke. Okay. The initial post was, we must paste the frontier. Yeah. So the founder of Anthropic released a blog post. And he called for the slowing down of AI. He called for a self regulating authority. So essentially saying that he's going to give an independent third party employee level access to ensure that Anthropic is holding certain safety standards. And that's a massive statement. Shortly after him making that, and sorry, if this wasn't clear, he's, he wrote a blog post talking about AI safety and concern. Okay. In response to everything that's going on this week?
I think that it's been a long time coming. He's been talking about this for a long time. Okay. But this is a big blog post for a magnitude of reasons. One, you know, him specifically calling out the concerns. Secondarily, him calling for third party monitoring of what they're doing. And so that they hold a certain standard. And then third is there's a big rivalry amongst all the AI companies. Between Elon, Dario and Sam Altman. And all of them would come together. So Sam Altman retweeted and Elon retweeted this blog post saying that they're all in agreement. And open AI said that they're going to hold themselves to, they're going to, they're going to follow the same path on, on letting a third party independent, independent third party come in and monitor what they're doing.
Well, what's interesting about this is the way that they're just like so casually retweeting it. Like Elon's like Dario's right. Like it sounds like these are conversations they've been having and they're all abreast on. And it's funny what they, they forget sometimes I think to make public. So then like Dario goes and tweets it and they're like, yeah, been talking about that for a week. Like they're just, they're catching us up to speed, which I think probably makes everyone feel good to know. Yes, but this could add some, some massive. Massive effects on the ecosystem. Why like what? It's very rare to see. The CEO of, you know, the biggest, most disruptful old company. Come out and talk negatively and talk about their risks to what they're doing in such a big public way. Yeah, because it is, it is kind of crazy to be like, you know, there's so many examples of companies that I feel like are full steam ahead.
And more like that's a little scary and for him to even be like it is a little scary. And so what this could do is this could cool down a lot of the investor excitement around AI and you could see it. I mean, I think the idea is that the companies that are really trying to, you know, hurting different publicly traded companies that, that you know, play into the AI theme. You can see it hurting the startup ecosystem. You just, this isn't something you typically see, which I think speaks to. The validity of the safety concerns of AI. T. Yeah. T. Yeah. About that. Okay. I'm going to move along because, you know, I can only take so much of the AI. You know, like it just kind of is what it is, but that is interesting to know that they would trust trust the to all work out. It's interesting that they are saying they're going to call in relation. Yeah. Yeah. All right, stretching before exercise does not prevent injuries. This is like silly. Yes, it does. Okay, a 2014 meta analysis, which Jules has informed us means a lot of analysis, not just one research paper, but it means a combination of them.
That means many studies found the same thing of 26,610 participants in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that stretching had no effect on injury rates at all. Strength training cut injuries by a third. Yeah, I just can't tell me you don't need to warm up. Simply put, I mean, you do need to warm up. Like if I went right now and just started sprinting, I think I would have a high likelihood of pulling a muscle. Yes. Yeah, I just I do. Okay, they are saying stretching. They're not saying warming up. I maybe stretching doesn't have any to do that. Yeah, I, uh, what it's saying is the reason stretching fails is that it addresses the wrong problem. A muscle tear happens when a muscle is asked to produce more force than it can handle. This is kind of like we were talking about with the phone screens. Okay. All right. Here, here is where I'm going to have this make sense to me.
Okay. Because I feel like we've seen a whole bunch of stuff about like Pilates and Pilates and injury reduction. Yeah. And I think the point there is is when you're strengthening your muscles, like I think that there's a confusion between stretching and strengthening. And Pilates is strengthening and Pilates is strengthening your access muscles. And so that is such as why you're reducing the injury rate and it's not the actual stretching mechanism, which has less of an effect that people think. Like this whole, you know, grab and pull your leg up before you work out. Like that isn't what is moving the needle. What's moving the needle is all the work you're doing before that makes me feel better though. Does that like that would allow this to make sense to me because at face value, I totally agree with you. Yeah. Okay. I guess when you get underneath the hood of the statement, maybe it does actually make sense. I feel better if I stretch and warm up.
Simply put. But yeah, maybe it doesn't matter if I'm actually stretching the muscle. But warming up is different than stretching. I agree with that. I think we need to get the blood, the blood flowing is important. Like this whole like bending over touching your toes thing. You're telling me that if you're telling me that that doesn't do much. That does make sense. But I think flexibility is still important, but they're saying it's not important to not tearing a muscle. No. Yes. Flexibility still has to be important in some way. Yes. But I think flexibility's importance is what they're saying is it's in performance as opposed to injury rate. And it's just different than everything we were told from like our gym teachers. Yeah. Like you still need a stretch, but you need a stretch for different reasons than you'd think. Yes. Okay. That's a good summary. Yeah. If I were that, I can live with that. I say that with a 35% understanding of what I read. Okay. So gross me on it. All right.
Things we de-empt, Nory Minich has, she's just sent me an inspirational quote and she said, please read this to Alex. I think she would like to hear it. Okay. I want to hear it again. Thanks, Nory. Thanks, Nory. You guys should start calling her. Calling her what? Nore. That's what my friends call her. Just like, um, Nordog. Play with her a little bit. Nordog. You know where Nordog's from? Nordog. No. I think they hang over. I know a lot of quotes in them. Where's that out in there? Nordog. Ah, let's Google that. When it went part. The dentist guy. The hang over. I love him so much. Stan Steve, oh my god. Stu. Stu. Hello. I don't know. It's not coming up immediately. It's not. It's it's that that movie has so many good one lines. Nordog. Why will I will play with this in Nordog? Uh, I guess not. I mean, I, I, yeah, I don't know.
Maybe somebody will know. Yeah. Sound off in the comments if you have any idea. And sorry if you don't like this, but I'm doing what my mom tells me, which is what I try to do. Okay. I've never met a mother who needed unsolicited advice about what she's doing wrong, but every mother I've met absolutely needed unsolicited acknowledgement about what she's doing right. That I, uh, oh, good job, Norey. I completely agree. And I think that it makes the bigger impact I was around a lot of moms yesterday. And everyone was being like very complimentary, very uplifting to each other. And that's just what that kind of behavior is. What makes you want to be around people? I saw a video this morning. It says hot people compliment successful people support something else, something else. And then I would love to know that the people you don't want to hang out with. Yeah. They're, they're, they're working on you. They're, they're negative. It's just like you had two options.
I agree. When you run into a mom, giving her a compliment will go so much further than giving her a critique. So yes, Norey. Yeah. That's really good energy, especially because I feel like the critiques are in parenting are so often like not applicable to your child. Totally. Like nine out of 10 times what work for you isn't going to work for us and vice versa. Like she needs to sit like she doesn't want to and she's actually doing a really good job right now. So move, move along. You know, or my favorite. You don't tell her no one up. It's like actually I do. And whenever I do say it, she listens to my no. I'm, I'm so with Norey. Cool. I have another thing. Um, the way you, what you, um, have taught me so much about what is often I think about when I'm communicating with Tate. Am I using language Alex would be using? Oh, that's really nice. You're so good with your words and making sure you're using words that she can understand.
Yeah. Like today you want to get your shoes and you're like, can you please go get data as black shoes and it's just like shoes black shoes first and then color second. Yeah. And then but we'll know what we would like, you know, and a breakfast. There was a situation as well. Um, okay. So I, I was like, I say, I say I'm sorry too much. I say it as a filler. And our friend Maggie was like, okay, this is my challenge. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm late. You just go. Thank you for being so patient. Great, great suggestion Maggie. It's a great suggestion because I was joking. I Tate's always like sorry and I'm like, oh man, it's, it's for me like I say it too much. As do I. And so she was like, let's, let's do a challenge here where you swap the word for thank you. The biggest time, Bobber saying sorry is whenever she bumps into so she notices that we say sorry when we're like moving in and out of the way whenever Bobber bumps into anything.
She's saying sorry. Here's the hand up. Tate's Canadian. Is it, they say sorry a lot. That's like that's what Canadians do. Sorry, sorry. It's the only thing I know about Canadians. She ran into okay. So we got a, we got a shipment yesterday and it was a very big box and I was unboxing it and she ran into it and she was like, I'm so sorry. She said, didn't say sorry. She was like, sorry, sorry. And then she kept touching it. It's like sorry. And I was like, the, this is adorable. The box is fine. The box is okay. So I do think it's, I and so I've been trying to do it. We're instead of saying sorry, I'll say thank you. It's a nice little switch up. It is good, good, good color Maggie. Okay guys, we've got a lot of fun things on the docket this week and we're going to do a doctor Ari episode on Wednesday. So submit your questions because we're going to get lots of info from her. Obviously, we always do. Very, very upset to be missing that. Yeah, those episodes are like, they're one of my favorites because we learn so much.
People have, people have specifically asked if we can talk about like cold and flu season. 100% going into that. Oh yeah, let's do that. Okay. And we love you guys. Have a great week. Is that it? Kind of. Really? Yeah, flu by didn't it. Want one more thing for us? One more thing. You guys got to pop it from the head. Okay. That was all the things. All right, let's let's talk about it off the dome here. Um, I don't know. I'm thinking shows. I'm thinking finished my Martha documentary. I watched the Martha Stewart documentary. What a girl. What do you know what put her back on the radar going to prison? No. Oh, no. She, no. Where did she, where did she light her flame with stoop? Where did they kindle? I have no idea.
Justin Bieber roast. So she goes to prison. She has the, the billion dollar company. It's valued at over a billion dollars because it's starting to go in like Kmart was the big one. Okay. Very few companies upstarts as well. Like we're valued at a billion dollars. I feel like today, like companies get that, that, um, you're hearing a company's value of a billion dollars is a pretty common occurrence. Back then that wasn't a big thing. And very few women or so that was very rare. I want to say, I want to say at the time she was saying she was saying she was saying she was the first self-made billionaire woman. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what she's saying in the documentary. Anyways, then she got, then she gets. So copper insider trading, then she goes to jail. She made a lot of friends in jail, like how long was she in jail? Uh, five months. J 150 days. J for her, I think, is a turning point because she had to let go of perfection. So at that point, her mentality very much so seems to be what did she have to lose at
like she had to sell her company afterwards. She sold it for pennies on the dollar. And her big issue was she, so how did she end up in jail for insider trading? It was also she did it and then she lied about it. Yes, her best friend, one of her good friends, you know, had the company. I have not even let's go at some company. And she lands in Cabo. Yeah. And she's with her one of her best friends, her best friend. She gets a phone call. She's like, yeah, sure, go ahead, sell it, sell it. Yeah, that makes sense. She says her stockbroker or someone called her and said, like, hey, it looks like these are trending down. I'm going to sell. Okay. She's like, okay, sell it. Great. Her best friend testified saying, I just said verbatim, what she said, which was, isn't it so nice to have people that will tell you those things? That's what that's the line her best friend remembers. So they're saying either so her best friend turned on her. Yes.
Yes. And testified against her. So she's claiming her innocence in the insider trading? Yes, but her, she's claiming her innocence, but she's very just like, yeah, like, no, she's not getting into it too much. She's just telling it exactly how she remembered. She thought it was no big deal. Thought everything was going to be fine. And then like, before she knows, she goes to prison. The other thing that happened though was the, the, the administrative assistant kind of admits to making the phone call, being like, they told me to tell her lawyers. Yeah. They told me to tell someone. I got to say like, my assumption is that there's probably some more to it. Well, whatever she got, she, when she served her time for it. Yeah. So they got her on it. Okay. And she's since she spends, she serves her 150 days in prison. She gets out and it's very hard for her to make her come back from what I'm understanding. Yeah. And she was, she like one of the first people to ever really be canceled. In a way, probably.
Yeah. Okay. And then she goes, she's kind of irrelevant as they call it for a couple of years. And her publicist calls one day because Bieber was doing having his hard time. Remember, Jim and me. Yeah. He was really young at the time and they did a comedy central roast. Kevin Hart did host it. And she sat up there beside Snoop Dogg. And she said he was, she sat by him for seven hours. He's spoken, joints the whole time. So she's like secondhand high. She goes up there. And she's like, they want me to give you some pointers, Justin, because you're inevitably at this pace, you're going to, you're going to wind up in prison. Yeah. And she's like, and you won't last. And like she roasts everyone on stage. I've seen this roast. It's 10 or 10 good. She was really, really good. Her and Snoop were talking and Snoop was like, I just knew like, if I was around Martha, like she was going to elevate my presence too. Like, she's just a girl that, you know, get, anyways, they start their show together. And from there, she just, she makes her come back. She understands social media. And so she's back.
You know, yeah, she was sports illustrated like, that's great. That's great. Yes, she's like, I googled it. I was like, alright, what's she worth now? She was supposed to be worth like, you know, hundreds of billions, not hundreds of billions, tens of billions is what they say in the documentary. She says she's worth like 400 million now. Not a bad place to be. Not bad. And you know what? I think she's at peace with herself because I actually, they had a very good line about what prison did for her, but it made her drop her perfection lens and she realized she was human. And I think that did a lot of good things for her. Well, okay. I was, I was, I was what I was looking for. She's a real kick ass like she's tough. You can tell she's tough. Here's the other thing that I'm going to kind of pivot. Okay. We, so we, we went on to date night. We did. And it is amazing. And it, it, it, it's amazing. So obvious how necessary they are and how good they are for your relationship because
while we spend so much time together during the day and whether it's with Tate and Rocket Man or doing this, like when you and I sit down one on one across the table from each other. And it forces us to have conversations that I think are very good for our family and very good for our relationship. I agree. And I know we're tired and we, you know, almost pushed it off, but I'm really happy we did it. And I want us to both hold ourselves accountable to doing date night more consistently because I think it's very good. I think it's very good for us. I agree. We love to do bedtime, put Tate to bed and then go. And I just, I agree. We, I just like, through on a dress, we went. It was fun. We had great food. And we just chatted and we put our phones up and it was lovely. I agree. It is, it's tough to prioritize, but there's a reason people keep saying time and time again prioritize it. Yeah. Like there is a reason they do.
And even if you think, no, I don't need it. We don't need to just go. It unlock, it just, it unlocks a different type of conversation for us. And so I just want to call it out, put it into the ether that, um, that I, I loved our date night. Yeah, me too. I did love it. Um, alright, we love you guys. Thank you for listening.
