Browns Sign Wallace, Hoping for Breakout Season

NFL story is making news on March 20th. The Cleveland Browns wrapped up last season with the weakest

wide receiver group in the league, and even their top guy, Jerry Judy, underperformed after a

pro-bowl year. Now, General Manager Andrew Berry is shaking things up by signing Thailand Wallace

to a one-year deal worth $2,100,000, with $1,350,000 guaranteed. Berry has struggled to draft impactful

receivers since taking over in 2020, with only two of six picks still on the roster. Rumors

swirled about trading for a veteran, but instead, he grabbed Wallace during free agency while the

team holds prime draft spots like number six, and number 24 in the first round. Wallace burst

onto the scene as a high school star in Texas, racking up over 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns

his senior year, thanks to his speed from track events. At Oklahoma State, he dominated as a sophomore,

with nearly 1,500 yards and 12 scores, though a torn ACL slowed him down later. In the NFL,

the Ravens took him in the fourth round of 2021, but injuries and limited roles kept his

receiving stats low, just 22. Catches for 305 yards over four years, mostly shining on special

teams with punt and kick returns. Fans wonder if Wallace can finally break out in Cleveland's new

offense under head coach Todd Monkin, whom he knows from Baltimore, bringing speed, blocking,

and ball skills that might fit perfectly if given the chance.
