And in fact, it's first and goal. FD Shotgun, frozen the engine and first and all of all with the coach. Touchdown, Cowboys. Move to the end. Oh, baby, there it is. Cowboys 37-20. They get the win. We are moving and shaking here in the Postgame Show, Miller Light Field Club. We do have Brian Shottonheimer talking as we speak at the podium through the media. Jerry Jones is talking. We will get audio from both of those gentlemen as the Postgame Show rolls. He's on here, Zach Wohlchuck alongside the Super Bowl winning scout. Brian Brottis, we've got the Cowboys inside of the Man the Mythology himself. The great Bobby Belk standing by with us as well. So Brottis, Bobby, myself, Zach, and of course, you, we appreciate your rock and let us on the official Postgame Show, Up Your Dallas Cowboys. We have two ear calls and tax 877-881-1053 in just a moment. But Bobby, how are you? What do you think about this Cowboys 1-1, first home victory today? I am wonderful. And what a difference a week makes.
Last week, it was very swollen. It was sad. Here I sit down. You all are cracking up. You all are having a good time. You're laughing. You're enjoying life. And it's good to see. Look, you're always going to be happy with victories, especially coming off on what happened last week. Doesn't mean it was claimed. Doesn't mean that there's not some things to focus on. But at least offensively, you felt like, okay, offense is a little bit back today. The passing attack is back. And CdLam really took advantage of what was a really questionable secondary there for Washington. I kind of feel like, did Bobby, that we're going to say Dallas's pass rush, not great, but if Dallas finishes on the pass rush, I've watched the tape. There might be a four or five set game. Yeah, look, it would have been nice to see him finish up a few different plays. And that doesn't just, you know, that's not just talking about what's behind the line of the scrimmage. They had some tackles they missed in the open field too. They were just not finishing really well as a defense today.
It was obviously not the same sort of situation you ran into with the giants last week. Right. This was a little bit cleaner, but there were still communication issues, issues with finishing plays. Defensively, there are still questions there. They're still settling in. But you know, I thought at least for me, stand out defensively as I like seeing the rookies generally, I think played pretty well. The work is really not down. I think played pretty well. I think bar and played pretty well. Barms out here just puking before snaps and starting things done might have been condition. We talked about that. Yeah, too, you know, but it was something where it's not pretty. It's not perfect. Washington is going to walk out of here feeling like we had plays. We left on the field. Yeah. We miss a deep ball. We're Durant either gets beat or the safety was supposed to take it and didn't, which everyone it is. Something that the double pass. I mean, we're in total Williams. That's free and clear. Yeah. So I mean, you know, Washington is definitely the club of the play calling at the end of the first half where Jayden Daniels gets hurt.
Jayden Daniels even getting hurt. A lot of these things Washington's going to look at and say, well, that's just if we, if we do what we're supposed to do, we're in this. Same thing they could have said they did last week. Yeah. They did everything right, but when the football game, it's Philadelphia. Yeah. And so for Dallas, I think they need to be careful not to just be like complacent. That's all right. 17 point victory feeling good. He can feel good about it. Don't don't apologize for a victory. No, but don't make excuses for some things that very well could hurt you against ball to more next week if you don't clean him up. No, 100% of it. You're going up against Lamar Jackson, who's arguably one of the top. If not the best running quarterback and all football, he has made this Cowboys defense look silly in prior matchups in the text. I mean, a lot of them very concerned about the defense. 8 3 L, if anyone else is playing you, that's probably 60 points that they're going to put up against the defense. So I mean, we're real. It's talking about running the ball just in general. Just the way that the defense played with some of the secondary mistakes they made. Yet some open receivers that watched and hid and then not being able to, of course,
get the quarterback and the ball carry on the back. That's the thing that I was the biggest concern for me was the fact that you had the opportunity with pressures and you couldn't finish as what you do. So I'll tell you what, I just, I feel like though to me that they were in a situation today where they needed to, you know, if they in fact take those pressures and finish. And you talk about the open field tackle and stuff like that. I totally agree on that. But I felt like there was the running, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the second half it felt like there were opportunities. The run, these fits is my concern. Yeah. Specifically, the, what conscious in the middle? Yeah. The trenches. You're not getting enough movement on either side in the run game. Not you were not, you're not imposing any sort of will with the defensive front, which was supposed to be the thing you felt really great about. It's going into Ken and Clark. Yeah. And then first play of the game or second play of the game, Quentin Williams makes a nice play in the run game to, to kind of beat a double team, but you're not getting enough push up front in the run game when it comes to your defense.
And then on the offensive line side, you're not getting enough push. They couldn't run the ball today. They were having real problems with that. And that's, that's going to be a frustrating thing for them to season if they're not able to consistently gain on the ground. You need Tyler Smith back right now. They're running game needs Tyler Smith back and I'll tell you, sorry, Zach, the guy who needs Tyler Smith back right now is Cooper, baby in a bad way. Yeah. And in Cooper, baby gave up a big pressure today. Certainly that you could tell. I mean, some of these, and then there were a few plays, Terence Steel, I think held up initially, then you saw a rush go wide and then Zach's trying to step up and pressure comes from the back side against him. But yeah, I mean, Tyler Smith, there's a reason why he's one of the best, not the best guards in all football. You certainly are going to miss that. Okay. I did think it was interesting. And thank you very much, Bobby. Sumer sports here, an incredible resource for information. Big friends of one of five three defendants. I would love them, but Quentin Williams for impact plays. So I know that there were, there's been a lot of, of tags coming in like asking about Quentin Williams, the impact he was going to be on.
All of those were in the first half, I believe, by the way, too. And I didn't notice Quentin, I might have been two separate occasions did come out. I think that one where he was really slow in the red zone to get up. And I'm trying to, I think that was the second drive where he kind of hit the ground, chasing Jaden Daniels, and he kind of just stood there and braced himself first. I mean, it got up and he came out. And so, yeah, I wonder if maybe he got a little banged up. I'm sure he would tell you I was still out there. If I'm not there, I need to be making plays. I don't think he'd make excuses for it. Hopefully, no looking back at the take, you'll look at it and say he played better than, then hopefully it looked like live because that's concerning if you're not going to get consistently good play at it. Special, it'll go for it. No, yeah, I just go ahead. You were going to talk about special teams. Well, I just want to bring up special teams because that's what happened. Looked like he was old, turpent like he saw the gun and her helmet and started playing like he was old. That's actually a great point because he has played really well in his big touchdown. Was he instant commanders and I'm a brevins band for it. I have a couple tackles. Maybe, maybe he needs to play defensive tackle for you. Get him up front, get him playing with that length and see if he can attack a little
bit. But no, a couple big plays on special teams. That was huge for them. They've not been able to get that same sort of physicality from their tight ends just in the blocking right now. I was going to ask you, Bobby, is some of the run issues, I don't know, temperament thing, I guess, with bread and spam for it, is really good to get out there. But just the point of attack blocking in general has not been where it needs to be. It seems like to me they want to run the ball, but then they're like, nah. We've got lamb, we've got pickings, we've got, you know, Ferguson, we're okay. It's not a nasty run game. It is not. There's not a nasty about their run game right now. And they feel very much like a finesse football team on both sides of the ball. And that's that's fine. You can win that way if that's what you're built in for that. But they would they would tell you that's not how they want to play. So that's the trouble of things. Some if you want to play finesse, cool. If that's the if that's the philosophy, but where you're trying to tell us you want to be a physical team that imposes your will and then you're out here and you can't do that. That's that's good. Well, it's also yeah, I mean, you're right.
It's the polar opposite of what they've been trying to build. And when we've seen cowboy teams like let's say, I'm not going to mention who the head coach was, but when you have three straight 12 win seasons, then you lose the postseason. I think a lot of the knock was they were finesse and they got played up against more physical teams, specifically San Francisco. And they want as good. Yeah, the lower open team struggled with some physicality there. And so I understand that. And it's a you want to do improve that. And look, there's a year, a couple years ago, 22. I think when they draft a Tyler Smith, the entire thrust of the draft was get physical football players. That was they they wanted to be in play. Yeah, they felt like they got beat up. Yeah, they wanted mean players. And you may just be at a point right now. It's like, Hey, we we maybe need to look at this again. I'm a rascal. Dan Quinn this once of physicality and toughness. How much of that can you coach versus you have to find the trait and acquire it? And Dan Quinn said, I usually feel like I can get one extra level out of you as a coach. So if you're six as a physical player, I can maybe get you to a seven.
If you're a three, I can get you to a four, but that's it. That's it. That's the extent that I can do. That's the extent that I can get you there. What did you guys think of D winters without going back and watching the all 22? I felt like he was flying around. Yeah, I did. Yeah, he was he was definitely out there. The order was running hot was was flying around the football. There were a couple of different times. I remember thinking missed something whether it be a tackle or maybe took a 200. That's nothing stands out as like super aggressive. But I just I know in my heads and I think I remember there were a couple times for a spot. And but overall linebacker play. I'm guessing when we look at it will look much better than it did last week. Not only because of winners, but because you know, you felt like Jay Sean Barron played really well the day to the most part. Absolutely. Do winners you leading tackle with nine? And then you had Caleb Downe and Jay Sean Barham tied for seven. Overall the health of this football team heading into Brazil were you able to get anything or during your visit still don't have a great sense of the guys that left the game Durant and lock and it's Durant someone that troubles me the most because Durant is the guy who
consistently played really well during training camp. And then last week did not look he was one of the few guys who didn't look just totally lost. And when Revolt came in that Washington said there we go after him. They were going after them. They went let's go about that. He didn't get his head turned around on one of the deep balls. He you know there it's just it's still not perfect with Savon Robbe. We need to check on lock that that foot injury he could not put. Yeah pressure. Yeah. That was that was when you watched him come off the field you're thinking foot injury. It's those are never good for a guy that makes his live and having to play on his feet have to be able to run attacking things like that. That's that's probably one that's not going to be the old mid foot spring. I'm just you know just yeah something that in general is not you're just kind of like all right. Because we were sitting there trying to figure out who it was he just could not move you could not get out but you can even see who is down on the ground. Bob anything else for you let you out of here just to go up you off. We love you more there he is our Cowboys insider Bobby Bellt who got to catch up with your owner and general manager Jerry Jones after this 37 to 20 victory over your Cowboys.
Here is what Jerry had to say. Hey, listen obviously we really were feeling it. It was daunting to think about coming on out here and starting a year with two losses it was daunting. I'm so proud of the team coaches rising to the occasion and so it was very important to us. What I think the team did was basically doing what it's been doing all spring and in training camp we did it against New York and they stuck it up there you know what tonight the thing we've been working on all this time for more parent and work good so they were side with the plan and I think the result speak for. What are you making with that was able to do today obviously saying the record but just the way that he played. Of course we all know what he means to the team the success the team and we've got to
build the complimentary things around that to take advantage of what he can do and we've done that to a big degree I was really pleased with where offensive line we did have some good things out there tonight with Geigen and Patek so I was pleased with the way they played but particularly we've got to understand we're working with the working progress over on defense but it was a lot better. The problem is that we were with the referee. Yeah CD was just driven it looked like he looked like it everything he was doing was a part of his destiny if you will about to die. I think he was out here to show everybody what he means to the Cowboys what he's kind of queries had. It's a great way to put that on the cake and at the same time that break Cowboy records. What does that mean to you?
It's perfect. Dact to break that record for him to be the one that now stands atop that. I just think it's such a segment for him. I did it. I just and he does it with hard hard work and he makes it look pretty easy out there but anybody that knows that you guys at same and practice and training can knows that he's the others working down team. I'm proud for him and boy he stands in with pretty good company too. They have broken that. Carry how hard would it have been to go to Brazil? Well it would have been hard to walk down here and talk to you all night. I went to. I just, I really was worried about what it was going to be like to do in level one two. And I can't say that I was a fellow of strength and mentality coming into the game because
I've got a lot of respect for the coaching over on the Washington Redskins, Washington Commander's side. But having said all about this was a very important win for us, important to these guys who put the work in the coaching staff for Brian and I'm really proud of him. Jerry, sounds like there's some concerns about the field and Rio from some of the players out there. Do you guys have any concern about that or have you talked to him? Well I'm not and detail I'm not up to date on. I was asked about it before the game. I don't know anymore now that I knew then. So I will look at that and I know that that's a lot most concerned to the league and the teams have the players surface down there. We'll obviously you certainly stay informed as we look to it and it's front of mind now that we've got best the Washington Command. Well there he is, Cowboys, owner and general manager Jerry Jones talking with the media.
And certainly that will be the talking point this week is what exactly is the state of the playing surface there in Brazil was from reports coming out that it was less than ideal conditions. I did see some during the game today that the NFL is going to make sure that it is up to date and that the terms that they have to play on is certainly NFL quality. So the Cowboys getting ready to go take on both more next week in Brazil and want to monitor the health leading up to it. But Jerry again, I mean a little flirtation with like hey if we're in position we can make a big move, right? He's an old man with some money right now and maybe they will but this defense again I get cause for concern. I mean they're able to hold Washington 20 points. But I think again it was the third down defense Brian where especially in the first half prior to the J Naneel's injury, get him the third logs and they were still able to convey. They are the last two weeks the third down defense has been not where it needs to be. And so yeah that's a concern. You know you're not going to win many games they didn't win tonight because their offense
was able to take advantage of some things on time that the Cowboys offense was able to get out there and get some things going. But yeah the third down defense was it just it seemed like that every opportunity that they had to potentially get off the field. You saw the quarterback and even Mario sliding around you know making runs getting out of getting out of trouble throwing the ball to an opener. See I mean it's just they've just got to be better finishing once they get in the pocket and that's the two weeks that's that's been a little bit of a problem. It was really a problem. It's very noticeable today as opposed to last week against the against the Giants. And if you did miss it we did indeed have Dak Prescott passing Tony Romo for the most passing touchdowns in Cowboys history today with 249. So he had tonnied Romo earlier with a touchdown to Jason Ferguson to Jake Ferguson. Excuse me and Ferg with two touchdowns today by the way and then CD Lamb on his second
touchdown of the game. You do have Dak moving past Tony Romo so quite the accomplishment and I'm sure a ball that is going to mean a lot to him and even better since you're able to get the win 37-20 Cowboys do get the win. We appreciate all of you who have been calling in and taxed the N877-881-105 through we're going to let you sign off here. I know a lot of you have been waiting patiently on hold. I'll get to the phones. We'll hear from Brian Shaw and I'm here from Dak Prescott as well. The creators of Buffalo Casino Games bringing Cowboys theme Casino Games developed by Aristocrat.
