It's going to be here very quickly.
Of course, the Eagles hold the 23rd pick in the first round of the draft.
Today's mock draft comes from Matt Miller at ESPN, number one overall.
Fernando Mendoza, quarterback at Indiana, number two.
Arvall Reese, the edge at Evo, Ohio State.
Frances, my Oga, the offender.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I'm going to be here.
I have to lost the jail in Philips.
You were getting an edge.
Akeem Masidor, the edge out of Miami.
Here, what do you think of this kid
who was obviously part of Miami team
that did a lot in college football last year?
They had to tell you what, six, three,
what, two hundred, fifty eight pounds,
around like a four, six, forty from what he's from Canada.
Pretty good, played on a really, really good defensive line man.
Played on a really, really good defensive line.
Gets off the ball pretty good.
Watch some tape on him right now.
Got a nice little dip on him.
And, you know, got some power.
Got a little bit of power coming off that edge.
Like him a lot.
So a couple of things that stood out to me
when I was kind of learning more about him.
And I saw him, but the other guy stood out more,
I guess he was, Ruben Bain was his teammate.
Ruben Bain is going to be a high effect.
Yeah, but the two of them
caused a lot of havoc together
in the college football playoff
all the way to the championship.
So, a couple things stood out.
One, he's being coached by Jason Taylor.
So Jason Taylor is working with him.
He knows I get that.
All right, so that's, that's an interesting one.
He's being coached by one of the best to do it.
His NFL comparison on NFL.com.
He was Jonathan Grenard.
Jonathan Grenard is the guy from the Vikings
that the Eagles were rumored to be interested in,
you know, in free agency, maybe a trade.
So if he's like that kind of a player,
I could see why the Eagles are interested.
Now, one thing you noticed right away
when we were talking about him,
he's pretty old for a rookie.
Look older, but he'll play at 25 years old as a rookie.
Yeah, that's old.
That's old.
Yeah, he's a little older,
but you know, with that little bit more mature
and you're gonna get guys like that, Joe.
I mean, it's not a big time
you said that I was just surprised that he's gonna be 25.
25.
But the thing of it is it's, you know,
in this NIO COVID type situation,
guys standing school,
you know, there's some advantages to that,
you know, both ways.
You know, he's a little bit older,
a little bit more mature
and you're getting the guy that's into his
probably man-strength era now.
Well, that's a fair point.
Maybe at 25 years old,
he may come into the league ready to play
and not have to be developed.
So last year, 12 and a half sacks,
58 pressures at Miami.
So a Kim Masidor edge at a Miami today
in the daily market number 23.
So here's, since we started doing these,
I think we've only seen three positions, right?
We've only seen offensive line, one receiver,
and edge, receiver edge offensive line,
which those are, you know, pretty valuable positions
if you're gonna use on a first round pick.
If you think about it,
two of the top three positions in NFL,
as we speak right now.
Other than quarterback.
Yeah.
I actually would think that one of these three positions
is where the Eagles will go with their first pick.
I still think it'll be offense,
but that edge is thin.
It's just, it's thin with the departure of Jalen Phillips.
And it feels like, you know,
you've been just getting guys.
You haven't really gotten that guy.
You know, I know everybody's excited
about some of the rumors that, you know,
Miles Garrett, they restructure this contract.
Oh, yeah.
And everything, the way that this is going,
and when you talk about the one-year deals,
they've given out in the guys that they've signed so far.
Man, go ahead and go get Miles Garrett.
If you're, you know, just like that.
Well, do we have you finally on board?
No, because if it makes sense, man,
just go ahead and go get Miles Garrett, man.
I mean, seriously, because you're trying to piecemeal
this edge thing together.
And you've done a pretty good job, you know,
but you're obviously looking for that dude,
you know, and you're probably,
you're thinking about drafting that dude
if you get a chance.
If you can, man, go get Miles Garrett.
See, now I've been waiting for this.
If we need everyone on board to go get Miles Garrett,
yeah, the Browns restructure is deal to make
a little more palatable to trade him.
And the Browns are also the team
that put out there that proposal to move the,
you could trade draft picks up to five years in the future.
People print those two things together and say,
maybe they're probably trying to move Miles.
Maybe getting that.
Because for what he's been in the NFL
and artists, all this stuff,
get that man a chance when he was wearing that.
Well, at least get him a chance.
And I used the one that signed the big deal.
No, he did.
Hey, listen, ain't nobody gonna walk away
from that kind of money.
I mean, you know, he made it known
that he didn't want to be there,
but when they start throwing them dollar size in his face,
I mean, you got to do what you got to do.
Yeah, he buckled pretty quickly
and I trade the man when they threw all that money at him.
All right, we'll do another deli mock at one o'clock tomorrow,
two, one, five, five, nine, two, 90, four, 90, four.
Let's talk to Jerry.
Who's up on WIP?
Hey, Jerry.
There he is.
Jerry.
What's up, Jerry?
How are we doing?
How are we doing?
Uh, you know, I'm doing all right.
I'm out here with two city, I will just making a bunch
of noise and shit.
Yeah, we got to find Jerry.
Awesome, Jerry.
Great, great start.
Sorry, make it on our show, huh?
Make it a bunch of noise.
So, all right, I just got a few things on the docket.
One, uh, I think I'm a priority call
or so I shouldn't be on hold so long.
Oh, you do that.
You know what, Jerry?
I mean, maybe we'll be able to get back on hold.
Jerry.
I'm going to get her.
Tell me my car.
You were a priority caller until you dropped a swear
at the beginning of your call.
I want a great start.
I want to shout out to my midnight car
because everybody's going to, it's, I want to talk to you, Kyle.
How are you doing, Kyle?
How are you doing, Joe?
And how are you doing?
What's up, man?
We're good, Jerry.
We're good.
Yeah, I hope you guys are having a great day.
It's a nice day.
Uh, so I watch these games this weekend.
And I tell you what, man, I am so disappointed
and just started this season.
And Joe, you're 100% right.
It's not that cold out.
These guys been playing ball a long time.
They know what happens when they come up north in March.
That's right.
That's right.
Put a couple of layers on and hit the ball.
Come on now.
Right.
Exactly.
I mean, they had to.
What did you call them things they had on their head?
Size, size, size, size.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK, so you've got to show us the on.
You should be nice and warm.
It wasn't that cold, guys.
I love it.
I was kind of surprised.
They were bundled up the way they were to be told.
I know.
You thought it was 25 degrees out.
But OK, so for one, I can't stand straight.
Turn out, I hate the face.
And he needs to go back to Lurley
and hit off the freaking T bought T or T ordered for about a week,
dude.
Because he was either he swung the three pitches the other day
on one of the second, the second year,
on Saturday, one of the three pitches.
And I knew after the first pitch is that he's just right out.
It was one of those tray at bats that you just
said there we had.
Yeah, like I'll come on there.
Yep.
And then in Harbor, yes, they were swinging out of his heels.
Like, dude, all you got to do is put the ball in place.
You got base fluid, nobody out.
Just hit the ball down on the ground.
Somebody's going to score.
We're going to get something on.
But no, he can't do that either.
And Joe, I'm with you.
He Harper is starting to age.
You know, he's not catching up to the fastballs.
I mean, we had a what the grandma's mother's a pitch.
He put this other guy in.
He's got to get shut out for five innings.
We haven't hit the problem, guys.
We have a serious hit problem.
And it's stemmed over from last year.
And it just seems like you keep rolling.
That's what I see.
All right, Jerry, you ready for a matchup
in the black and a huge thing?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm ready for you.
I'm ready for the black and maybe get it.
All right, let's do it, Jerry, from Sioux City, Iowa.
Ready?
Let's go with the radio guy region here, Jerry.
You'll appreciate this.
Number three seed, rent-free, Douglas.
Against the number two seed, spin, doctor.
Hugh, who do you like, Jerry?
No, I like Hugh being rent-free as people have.
Well, he lives there.
He lives there.
He lives rent-free, yes.
I love rent-free.
You know, he's always living rent-free
as somebody's head.
Don't know who, but I love rent-free.
You got it, Jerry.
Good phone call.
Appreciate you.
I know who.
All those folks that, when y'all out,
they'd be like, was he serious about that?
Rent-free, that's rent-free right there.
Oh, like my neighbor said that he was embarrassed for you.
Shut up to your neighbors, yeah.
Rent-free.
Don't cry from your Argentina, I'll be alright.
So Jerry brought up a trade-turner there.
Trade did not have a good weekend.
And did you see trade-turners coping
about his spring training and his starts at the season?
What did he say?
Well, so trade, he was two for 13 this weekend.
Couple of couple of singles, that's fine.
He had, you know, he had into two double plays yesterday.
It's only the third time he's ever done that.
It feels impossible with his speeds hit into a double play.
Or at least, you know, all right,
it happens every once in a while, he hit the ball hard.
But into two in one game, that was weird.
And it was the first time that's happened since 2021,
two double plays in one game for trade-turner.
So obviously he's off to a slow start too.
So Hugh, he didn't have a good spring.
He had a 486 OPS in spring training, pretty poor.
Now, I think Tray's enough of into his career
that we're not gonna talk about his spring
every year and every at bat.
Like, okay, he, whatever.
He's coming off the batting title last year.
We're not focused on his spring training results.
Let's see what he does in the season.
Not a good start.
Tray apparently yesterday said he was, quote,
happy about the bad spring.
And this was the quote he gave, quote,
because the best springs I've ever had
is the worst I've ever played.
So he did some research in the spring training
when he plays well, when he hits well in spring training,
he struggles in the regular season when he,
and in the opposite, right?
When he plays poorly in spring training,
he tends to have good regular seasons.
Hugh, do you appreciate this or is this what you call spin?
I appreciate him saying it because from his,
from his recollection, when he played
in the World Baseball Classic,
you look pretty good, right?
Yeah.
And then he struggled coming into the season.
Right.
So, I mean, I think for him, there's some correlation there.
So I don't mind him saying that.
I really don't.
Feels a little coping.
Well, you know what it is right now?
There's a lot of people, and this is fine.
This is fine, Philly's fans.
They're looking at this team right now
and they didn't have a great weekend,
three games in, and to hear that great,
it really greats right now.
I don't think it was a great,
I don't think the timing was great.
Yeah, I look at that.
And it greats on your ears when you hear him say it like that
after the weekend that you had.
I actually would respect it more if you just
said spring training results don't matter.
I've had years where I did well and then didn't do well.
Like, that's because that's really what he's saying.
Like, there's not really a strong correlation.
That's what I'm saying, it's the wording.
Yeah.
And for us, a lot of times as fans,
we can't get past the wording.
We can't, we are so, we are so in golf with this team
that we don't think about it rationally sometimes.
Kind of like you're doing right now,
you're not being rational.
I think you're the one that said it was cold this weekend.
I'm just saying, it was cold.
It was cold and I gave it a reason why that people
are starting to use that as an excuse now.
Who's people besides Rubin Amara?
Well, I'm talking about the players.
The players started catching on.
It is, it's got to stop man.
Not seriously, all jokes aside.
I'm watching the game this weekend, right?
And the way they were dressed,
because I was confused to be totally honest,
because I was, you know, it was sunny outside
and the game's on and I'm indoors and I'm like,
wow, is it that cold outside?
You didn't know it was cold Saturday?
Well, no, it wasn't that cold.
Yeah, because, you know, I don't, I don't wear coats.
So when I went outside, I was like, wow,
but again, I'm not out there all day either.
Yeah, right.
But when I walked outside, I'm like, it's not that cold.
And my first thought was, if you're out there
moving around and, you know, you're out in the game
and you can do that cold. You call these guys soft?
I ain't call them nothing.
I'm just wondering the fact that the fact that
the weather has been an integral part of a lot of people's
conversations the last couple of days
should tell you everything that you need to know.
Because they didn't just not tell me anything.
Didn't how we bring that up to?
Didn't how we talking about that?
Well, that was a joke too.
Because he's trying to...
No, I'm just saying, man, it's one of those things
where it's starting to become a thing.
And I think that, you know, y'all need to give me my props
because I started talking about it earlier
and I was trying to tell y'all that that's how I was gonna be.
But no, if people laughed at me and then, you know,
you have Rubin, get on, get on National TV
and say that to everybody.
And that's when I told you about it.
And he's dead wrong, too.
I'm not saying.
He's like, it was cold outside.
And they had on-site, he's in there.
But to be fair, not to be fair,
but to be honest, when you saw him,
it looked like they were in like Antarctica.
They were blowing on his hands.
I don't care if they played on the moon.
DeGrom didn't pitch.
They should have had to hit in the first five minutes.
I don't care if they played on the marsh.
Because when I found out he was a healthy scratch,
I'd text you like, the grub's not playing.
I thought this was gonna be my day
and then they had that kind of outing.
It only took nine and things to score.
All right, is it too early
if you concerned about Bryce Harper?
It is our Twitter question, of course,
which is sponsored by the PI dental center.
Your smile is the first thing others seem when they meet.
You can learn about it in schedule, your evaluation
at PIdentalcenter.com.
All right, here, where do you think the,
the tally is?
It's just the four percent.
No.
59% no, not too early to be concerned
with Bryce Harper, 41%.
Yes, saying it's too early to be concerned.
All right, let's go back to the phone lines here.
We do need to settle a few of these matchups
and by the end of the show,
we will have an elite eight of Hugh Douglass's
ready for the stretch run.
Cowboy Jim is up on WIP.
Cowboy Jim.
I'm concerned about the people driving in Iowa right now.
I hope they pull over.
Listen, listen, oh, by the way,
to Texas Rangers they were playing,
where it's 85 degrees in Texas
and they came from, I think from Arizona
where they had spring training.
Also, that team plays with a roof
that they have a retractable roof
and that's how it's done.
It's never cold even if it is cold for that team.
How would they do Hugh?
They have handled their business.
Okay, they did.
They don't need some bourbon energy, like we got last year.
I'll get to the dome in a second here,
but the hypocrisy of your callers is unbelievable.
You've got that hobbit from Middletown,
that tight shirt, Mr. tight shirt,
you know, who goes after Jalenites.
So yeah, you have Chris and Kyle
who are called Bryce and I.
Oh, it's not Bryce's fault.
It's the pitching's fault.
Nobody knows what I say that.
Bryce is always starting off.
I said I'm worried about Bryce.
You idiot.
Pay attention.
Bryce and I, you are a Bryce and I.
Oh, give me a break.
You're a dope and I.
You know, like Chris and, you know,
both like typical Bryce fanboys,
you know, went Bryce if a foul ball.
You know, he knocks down the kids to get to the ball
and then he elbows the same kid to get Bryce to sign
his life size poster that it goes above his bed.
You know, what's Bryce's next shirt gonna say?
It's not my fault.
That might work.
It's a great routine.
Well, you would wear that.
It's not my fault.
It was too cold.
It was too cold.
I could see Chris bustling out a child for a baseball.
You seem like a biker.
I could picture it.
I could picture it.
Can't you?
Now, you think Chris would,
oh, in other words, I didn't even see the kid.
I was so low, I was locked in.
I was zoned in on getting the baseball.
I can't see Chris bustling out the kid.
I could, you know, it wouldn't be like an intentional thing,
like screw you kid.
I think I could just see him being so locked in on getting a foul ball.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like old game cap or laser focus kind of stuff.
Chris, though it catches the stride.
Yeah, he is.
All right.
Yeah.
All right.
The life size poster too.
That too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, listen, I don't remember.
Hey, Hugh, I don't remember the Patriots with Tom Brady having problems with weather up in
Foxboro.
I don't remember that.
That was a different era, man.
Different era.
He just finished playing.
No, but I'm saying he was.
He's still trying to play.
I mean, it was a different era.
Like, cats to play about.
For a couple of years ago.
No, I'm saying, but cats do complain about weather now.
You've heard more people complain about the weather now.
You know, you've complained the most about the weather.
No, my job here is to get, let you inside the mind of the athlete, athlete, when athletes
call one out.
They want one out of the body.
What they might be.
Get me out.
How about hit the base ball?
Not my philosophy.
It's just the way that.
Oh, here we go.
No, it's not my opinion.
It's an opinion.
It is your opinion.
It is.
It is your opinion.
It's not my opinion.
All right.
Well, how about when, you know, when the dolphins have to go up to the buffalo.
They were.
They were.
They were broke.
Good for them.
Yeah.
I don't know.
And don't team.
And don't teams that have to go even go to Foxboro like the Texans and the chargers this year.
What about when the cowboys come here?
Cowboys do just fine in Philadelphia.
Yeah.
At the end of the year.
I'm really sure.
That's fine.
Yep.
All right, Jim.
Jim, they wanted to.
They wanted to bring it to you.
I mean, well, you know what?
Jim is so caught up in his goodbye losers, but he can't comprehend two things at once.
Yeah, goodbye losers.
Yeah.
No, it was a sign off.
It was funny when he was after Chris there.
I mean, he did.
And he did.
He did roast you a little bit for the cold.
No, that's not my take.
No, it's just that.
That's what you brought it.
But you brought it up.
No, I mean, because if you bring up the tape and you don't, you don't give your own first.
That's your take.
You don't just get the good to do.
No, this is a take.
Before coming here.
You start with it.
It's on TV with the most ridiculous take out of her.
If you start with it, it's your take.
I'm just saying.
No.
My job in this seat is to bring you behind the curtain of what it is to be a professional
athlete.
Well, I want you fired.
The Wizard of Oz over here behind the curtain.
I'm just saying it.
It's been a lot of complaining about the weather lately, man.
That's all I've heard.
Who's complaining?
Hugh.
Hugh is complaining about the weather.
When you, I assume when you put no shisies and stuff and you're supposed to be out there
playing.
No, that's just called bundling.
It's just called preparing for the weather.
No, it's not complaining about it.
If I wear a coat, that's not being complaining about the weather.
That's just me being complaining.
No, it's not.
It's just me being prepared.
It's just me being prepared.
When you wear a coat, you're complaining.
What are you talking about?
Oh, no, when you wear a coat, you're complaining.
Yeah, by the way.
Is wearing a coat complaining about the weather?
Yes.
In my opinion.
Not us, my opinion.
Okay.
Well, that's the dopious opinion of the world.
Since we had these last couple of warm days, I have not put on a coat.
But it was cold Saturday.
It wasn't warm.
I still didn't wear a coat Saturday.
War T-shirt.
Because I'm a man.
I'm a man.
I need to take a call.
I can't even...
I just...
Lewin Denver's up.
What's up with you?
I'm grown.
Yo, what's up?
Nothing says I'm a grown man.
Like, tell everyone I'm a grown man.
I'm a grown man.
Yeah.
I do like that.
Complaining about the cold because you're wearing a coat.
I'm going to use that.
You got to.
Hey, it's yours.
I'm here for everybody.
Like, you complaining.
Because you got to coat on.
Complainer.
There you go.
That's all I've got.
Because use a man.
Don't forget.
He is a grown man.
Guys, I'm distraught.
So I'm just going to talk about it.
I was at the Duke Yukon game right behind the Yukon bench.
And I'm a Duke fan.
And that was a tough punch.
It felt like he had to.
It felt like when curkering through the ball over JT's head,
like, what are you doing?
And, um, yeah, I just got to know it.
And, uh, that was rough.
All right.
So now, and now the, I mean, you brought it up.
So I got a couple questions.
One, did you realize what they didn't realize?
Because Grand Hill pointed it out as soon as it happened.
They did not have to get the ball over mid-court.
Yeah.
There's only 10 seconds to go.
There's no back court violation.
I realize that.
I realize they had a timeout.
They had a timeout.
So I just, he could have just held on to the ball.
I mean, it was, it was all time.
But, you know, I was there.
And there was Yukon fans all around.
I had to congratulate them.
And I ducked out.
I knew we were going to lose with 0.4 seconds.
And, um, it was just a crazy sequence.
And, you know, I'm glad for Yukon.
Like, I like Yukon outside of Duke.
You know, they're a class of the organization.
Dan Hurley is a weirdo on the sideline though.
He looks like, he looks like a seriani on steroids out there.
Every face he made.
There's some seriani.
Well, so with that, did you, did you notice?
There's a video out there this morning of he got right in the ref's face
after the shot when they were celebrating.
And from, from the view I had, it looked like he bumped them and made contact
like nose to nose.
They could have called a tech on him.
There was still point three to go.
Oh, they should have.
Ah.
No, I was, I got, I got the hell out of there.
Well, I would have thought if I was you.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
So, so you had experienced that.
What would you take on the fills here with the, the, the, the Bryce Harper situation?
Yeah, I'm in the 41 percent.
Two early.
Come on.
Three games.
I get it though.
We're, we're, we're for baseball.
I'm going to the game Friday in Denver.
Looking forward to that.
And, um, I'm just going to enjoy this season.
And because again, they're going to make the playoffs or pitching too good.
Or hitting too good.
They'll get on track again.
It's like, man, we got to get these guys fired up for October.
But, trade turners point.
I want to just say like a lot of times they use spring training for
tinkering adjustment.
So, like, yeah, that makes sense.
I mean, you know, I want to take any stock in the spring training.
Or the first at least 20 games of the season.
I usually don't take into stock because they're making those adjustments.
They're trying to figure it out.
So, um, I'm not worried about the price of our first.
Yeah, look, I think you're going to have a great year.
As far as the spring stats, I don't care about them either.
I just thought it was fun.
The bright, the trade was like, well, when I'm bad in spring training,
and I'm good in the season and then vice versa.
All right, Lou, are you ready for your matchup and the bracket of use?
Yeah, I am.
All right, Kyle.
What do we need here?
So, we've gone through lies.
We need some tie break help here.
Yep.
So, three left that need to be decided.
Okay.
You want me to throw it to him?
Yeah.
Throw it to him.
Okay.
And then the first matchup for the bracket of use.
We here now you versus off the leash.
Oh, so those are in the football guy region.
We here now, the number three seed off the leash.
The number two in the football guy region.
Lou, who should move on?
I mean, I got to go off the leash.
Yeah, that's a good one.
It's a sound like.
It is.
It's a fit.
It fits you.
It does fit you.
Hugh is clearly off the leash.
We here at every single day.
Lou, good phone call.
Imagine being at that game yesterday as a Duke fan
and watching that from behind the U-con bench.
That's a gut punch you.
He talked yesterday.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And the way to the game in the two, yeah.
That's a real gut punch.
There's a video out there of Hurley in the face of the ref.
He looked like he bumped him.
I know it would have been a cheap way to give Duke a, you know,
free throw shot off a technical.
Hugh, we can't have coaches head budding or bumping officials
with time left on the clock.
They could have called that on him.
I mean, they could have.
But I guess being in that situation, the emotional state
that he was in, they kind of let it go.
Let it go.
I know.
I guess if it was a little bit more like harder physical,
like if he had to call it, like it was one of those ones
where it was probably right on the line.
Right on the line.
Yeah.
Game of pass.
They like bumped noses.
That's how close to he was.
That's a wild way for that game today.
All right.
215-592-9 for now.
For your phone calls, you people coming up and an update
on the Elite 8, which will be finalized today.
Also, we got a couple answers.
A couple big questions.
Will Jeff Stoutland be back?
Remember Lane Johnson alluded to that idea a couple of weeks ago?
We got a clarification from Stout himself.
And maybe the real reason.
You're not going to want to miss this.
Why Jail and Hurst doesn't like going under center.
That's next Midday Show Sports Radio 94-WIP.
