Darnold, Brown Go Down In Seattle, Bowers Out a Week Or Two, and More [Footballugys Daily Update 9/10]

The Seahawks got a 1310 win over the Patriots since Seattle to open the season, but neither team left the night hole. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darlaloo injured his hip in the second series received positive news following a CT scan and coach Mike McDonald said doctors ruled out of fracture. Darlaloo having MRI on his hip today to get more info, but the belief after an X-ray and CT scan is that he avoided a major injury. Still, given the lack of clarity on the injury, McDonnell said he didn't know what Darlal status would be for Seattle's week two match up against Arizona. Drew Lock took over for Darlal, played well. He had 16 to 22 for 187 passing yards and one touchdown to Jackson Smith in Jigba. For the Patriots, YFZ Rae J Brown left early in the third quarter with a right ankle injury. He

1:03did not return Brown and his Patriots debut remain downfalling a third downing complete pass in which quarterback Drake May was throwing in his direction with Seahawks quarterback me and my a Pritchett and tight coverage. Pritchett's right knee appeared to land on Brown's ankle with the force of his body weight. Brown grabbed for the back of his right leg as he sat up and according to observers, Brown walked out of the locker room after the game wearing a boot on his right foot, so expect more testing for him when the Patriots get home. We'll probably have more on that tomorrow. All right, Bob. Let's go out to the desert where bad news for fantasy managers comes as Brock Bowers reportedly had a meniscus trim and now is out a quote week or two. I'm going to say this is going to be on the longer end just because I'm a pessimist. But first off, did not Clint Kubiac step to the microphone after the surgery and say he expected everyone to be available to play this week? I believe I believe he did that. Yes. Yes. All right. So that lying aspect of it aside,

2:04Bob, in the short term, obviously get Bowers out of your lineup. What is the value of Michael Mayer in Bowers absence? Maybe more than we know in the moment. As you said, they're saying two weeks according to football guys injury analyst Adam Puxissini could be four. Could be longer, depending on how severe the trim was or if it was more of a repair. As football guy, Sigma Bloom pointed out yesterday and our football guys live video on this story, you can go check that out on the audible channel. Mayer jumps into the same tier as John Johnson, Hunter Henry, and Dallas Goddard's viable options. Let's say you're worried about George Kiddler, Tucker Kraft getting off the slow starts. I think Mayer becomes that guy and he's probably going to be a viable weekly play at that level until Bowers returns. All right. And as per Ash Jentie got in the full practice yesterday, Bob. So it looks like maybe a full workload for him in week one. What do you think? Yeah. In full, full participants, good news. Bargain setback. I expect him to play. I'd expect to play him as I drafted him as a back half running back one. I do think we'll see Mike Washington Jr. But how much will depend on Jentie's status and how effective he is if he goes? If for some

3:08reason, he can't go Washington's value, obviously climbs and dolphins aren't a daunting matchup. If you knew Washington was going to get the bulk of the work, he'd certainly be an army two level play with Army one upside. But but seems like Jentie's on a good path. All right. And else who are other writer news for Nando Mendoza listed as quarterback two on their first season depth chart. We moved to Carolina, Jonathan Brooks. Well, that's soreness turns out to be a growing injury, Bob. Limited participant yesterday. Nevertheless, head coach Dave Canalis says he's very confident that Brooks will play against Chicago. There's obviously not ideal as Brooks looks to stake his claim to the starting job. How much are you dropping him if at all in your weekly rankings? He's down a little bit. I did check the video from yesterday's practice and he appeared to be moving well. But he has pants on my cable. He's Brooks. If available, it's likely to be used as a change of pace partner for two of Harvard. And so we'll see how that plays out. The Panthers aren't likely to have any even workloads split right away. But and for the record, the football guys week one projections reflect all that reality. Hubbard is running back 30. Brooks is running

4:11back 32 if if Brooks can make some big plays early and prove his durability in the first month of the season, though, I think he'll turn into the thing we drafted would be. All right. In Arizona, Michael, a floor says there's no limits on rookie running back. Share on my love in practice, Bob. Does this give you hope for his week one output more for his availability than his output? Does it still not sure about that? Yeah. You know, Darren Irving from the team's website. Think some fantasy matters would view what fantasy matters review as ideal is not realistic. The Cardinal signed Tyler Algier for a reason. And it wasn't just the weight in case love got hurt. This could be a 65 35 split along the lines. What we saw with B. John Robinson in Algier in Atlanta last season. And by the way, Robinson finished the last year is running back to that's not my expectation for love. But it's nice to think it's in his range of possible outcomes. I just don't think it's this week. All right. For Baltimore, Zayf Lauer's limited yesterday with a hamstring issue. Are you sensing any real concern coming out of the Ravens camp? No, when check the reporting, he spoke with reporters, watched a video of it after practice yesterday. And that's pretty good

5:14sign that it's not a huge concern. Usually guys are bad. They're they're hiding in the trainer's room. All right. Let's get some good news on the wider sea of front as Jamar Chase and T Higgins both on track to play. Both returning to practice this week, Bob. And it seems like they're going to continue to ramp up. And as Zach Taylor said, he likes to paste their on right now. Chase, obviously always the must start when he's active. Where do you rank Higgins among wide receivers for opening week? It's easy to overlook Higgins. I haven't ranked as wide receiver 23 this week. So he's inside wide receiver two territory, but he has wide receiver one upside in this offense, a touchdown or two on any given Sunday could drive him to the top of the position. So hard to sit him, I would say, under any circumstances. All right. Let's continue the happy talk at the wider sea position. Malik neighbors worked fully in yesterday's practice. And I guess he's ready to go. And again, we talked about this earlier with Darius Slate and being released. Bob, they tighten up. There's only four receivers on that depth chart. Obviously they feel like neighbors is in a pretty good spot here. Yeah. I think I think so. And I think you'll be throwing them right into

6:16your lineup. Immediately given that discount we got on him through most of the summer, there's a very good chance he's not your wide receiver one. But there's a reasonable chance he could perform at that level. I think you're to see how he looks, but practicing fully already puts him ahead of where most of his thought he'd be right now. All right. Now picking back up on the wide receiver front here, no pitch count apparently for Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas. Bob, they look like they're ready to go. No pitch count for Bell is more important because he just recently got cleared for activity. These are your starting wide receivers. The pair of rookies in Miami starting which one do you like more? Well, I've seen more of Caleb Douglas. If I more, I mean, big catch and exhibition place. So, but Bell was the higher profile prospect prior to the injury, which by the way, most observers thought was sideline him all this season. So he's ahead of the curve has the profile and walks into a situation where there's a huge need. Beat out Jalen Tolberg. I think he's probably an interesting player to watch. Wave or wire watchless guy should watchless. So you're saying that Bell and Douglas shouldn't necessarily be rostered in all 12 team leagues. I don't think it's necessary. If

7:19you're aggressive and you have room on your roster, you could make a proactive move. I'd like to see what they do though. All right. Going to Minnesota Carson Wentz listed his quarterback to behind Kyler Murray. That means JJ McCarthy is the third quarterback. Great chance to be an active on game day. No great surprise, but certainly bad news for McCarthy. Bob is he worth hanging on to even in dynasty probably, but history hasn't been kind to just place first round quarterbacks. Only three drafted any point in the first round since 2000. Have received fewer than 10 stars with the same team that drafted them. That would be trade Lance Paxton Lynch of the Broncos Johnny Manziel of Cleveland Browns. In other words, once they fall out of favor, they tend to disappear more often than rebound, obviously. So there's a path back for McCarthy and it's that Kyler Murray's one year deal includes a no tag clause. So he's not a lot to return. Well, I won't keep in the carnels or the Vikings from from getting getting him back. And sure as Murray will be available to the highest bidder. And so that could be reason enough for Minnesota if you keep McCarthy around for another year. You wonder if Murray has a decent but not great year. Does Minnesota maybe overpay

8:24with the fear of losing him and having him turn into another Sam Darnold after he walked off and helped Seattle in Jacksonville. I don't know how big this is fantasy wise for this week, but liquid Allen got to be a game time decision figures to be the jack's third down back. He didn't practice though yesterday, Bob. I don't think his presence or absence will have a major effect on Bayesian Tutan or Chris Rodriguez early in the season. How do you feel? I think my default position is it's not a big deal, but I'm open to the possibility. I think we'd all be happy with just a bit of clarity here. I don't know that we'll get it. Both Tutan is a projections running back 33 Rodriguez running back 44 this week. There are flex level plays. If Allen is a fact at all, it wouldn't be a positive for you to go to the two and we need one of them to rise up to be a viable weekly fantasy starter. All right for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ameka Abouka seems to be okay. Rick Stroud from the Tampa Bay Times reports he continues to work through a tow problem, but looks like he's on track to go Bob. How much Ameka Abouka were you drafting this off season?

9:25I didn't love the price. Last year was a Taylor two players while we didn't have a pay full freight for his wide receiver four start over the first five weeks last year. We were absolutely overpaying for the rest of it after he went from being a top five fantasy producer to wide receiver 43 from week six through the end of the season. We dropped from 20 fantasy points per game for average seven point eight games. He only scored double digit points twice the rest of the year. So he'll likely be better than last year, but I think, but I was more confident guys like Teterob if Mill and DJ Moore Luther Bird and the third who all went after him in drafts. By the way, gentlemen, Mcmillan who recently was listed as a starter on the three deep for Tampa Bay at wide receiver limited at practice yesterday. Keep an eye on that one. George Kiddles playing time is going to be monitored tonight in Australia or tomorrow morning. If you happen to be in Australia, Kyle Shanahan said the team will monitor playing time for both Kiddler and Nick Bose above, but with hours out, uh, Kiddler in your top 12 tight ends for week one. I have him as tight and 14 13 14 maybe moves up a spot with with hours out. I like to want Johnson
