What a value. But once, at least, you put power back into the content of your mouth, you do realize you're really not answering the questions. You don't have a healthcare version of that, but don't have an agency where meant to
be on foreign links to the American, but they're blogging, you still have a care zone where you can start off vacation, stuff that's不會 be crazy. I think that's one of the도 of the Google corroborates and something like that is going to be really great. You need a fantastic score, I think. This is amazing. I'd rather make it feel more news to me now. I need more restrictions of conversation on the podcast, or something. I think we should put our Nikki's Mark Modー content at speeds 20,000. So this is a very famous 100,000 times special week update. by the P4 specifically the P2 and UTSA had 16 returning starters before the portal window after the portal window and they had eight returning starters. That's got to be rough. Yeah, they're they're down bad in this regard. There's just no moneyed person of influence in San Antonio that's like, yeah, I'm going to spend 10 million a year to make UTSA better at football. There's no reason I guess that anyone would do that. Honestly, they've had some facilities upgrades, but that's not what they need. They need money spent on the roster. And if you add up the NIL coming out of San Antonio,
I bet it's three to one Texas to UTSA. I might be more than that. Yeah, especially the revenue sharing too. Just the total expenditure has got to be it's yeah, massive. Tough deal for UTSA, tough day for trailer. I think at some point he's going to get tired of developing being basically being a farm league team for the P4. However, let's talk about the roadrunners that are coming in to Austin. Interesting group and one thing that's really fun that's actually very helpful from a both of viewing and analytical perspective. And when you're going to preview UTSA gives their most special players. The guys that the team votes as effectively their captains and the best players on the team. They all wear the numbers 0, 1 and 2 on both sides of the ball. So if you see a guy wearing 0, 1 or 2, that's one of their best players. And that's the guy you should watch. So you want to talk about there are 0, 1s and 2s real quick. Yeah, real quick. Let's do it. I have a question for you real quick.
Yes, sir. Do you have do you watch your college football via a platform where you can do multiple games at the same time? Yes, I have some picture and picture type stuff going on, but I typically just have one game on, but I will do the multi screen. Will you do the multi screen on Saturday night with Ole Miss LSU? Yeah. I'm going to have to focus on Texas because I get paid to offer brilliant insight on what I saw. I'm a long horns, but I'm very tempted to have Ole Miss LSU. You can just get on afterwards and be like, just glance at the box score. Offensive line. Wow. They really followed up there. Just a sensational game. He's like, his long run was on a recovered fumble. Yeah, that's what I meant. That's what I meant. What you want to see, you want to see him flash? You want to see Russell from a freshman. Guys, come on guys, see the game the way I do. Raise your level.
Yeah. We've already spent too much time. Let's go through the quick. 0, 1, 2, 2, 0 on offense as David Amador. That is their possession receiver. Kind of like their most steady asset. They've got a couple of other receivers that are competent. In fact, Texas State gave a lot of attention to David Amador last week. So he had a pretty down game. The other two receivers went for 166 yards combined for UTSA. So they are competent. AJ Wilson is the guy you should probably watch. But Amador is wearing 0 for a reason. He's their best possession receiver. He's got just enough twitch that if you overplay his chain moving, he'll actually double move you and they'll take a shot. UTSA really struggled this year to get deep shots on offense. They're not connecting. I don't know what that is. It pops in the screen. That's awesome. In a horror film, that would be unnerving. If this little child just suddenly strolls up and suddenly Ian gets grotted from behind.
Yeah, so that's David Amador number one on the UTSA offense is Will Henderson. And guess what folks? He is going to be the fastest guy on the football field Saturday. Yes, I know we've got fast guys on our team. Will Henderson, a Gilmer guy, which makes a lot of sense given that he stayed at UTSA. Former 10100 meters guy. It's about 510 180. And he is incredibly fast. He's football fast. He's not just track fast. That's a guy you want to watch. And UTSA tries to scheme up a bunch of ways to get him in space. Yeah. I assume that getting him on prior is the alpha and omega of their game plan. Although, McKee Anderson also seems like he's pretty quick to 14. I know he's not on the 0 1 and 2. But I don't know. I think he's too little to get separation on corners. Yep. But they have, yeah, they have some speed guys, but they don't have a lot of big plays to show for it necessarily. Yeah, Henderson, well, in fairness, he average a seven yards of carry for his career.
So he does pop runs. Sure. Number two is Owen McCown. He's a veteran quarterback. The McCowns are the East Texas mannings, famous football family. And you guys have never seen the, was it Luke McCown dunk video? Much more, much more athletic than you, you might think. All right, we're getting joined by Izzy. Oh, now she's shy. Earlier, she wanted to just be a part of the production now. No interest. Now we just see the top of her head. So Owen McCown, 32 career starts veteran quarterback. He should go over 8,000 career passing yards against Texas in Austin, because he's 7950. You think we hold him to under 50 passing yards? I think we win the game. I want to see him. Yeah. I. I see a lot. Yeah, well, another throws just so you know the ball hits his hand and he throws the ball. So if you're complaining about a lack of sacks in the first half. Yes.
Count the count the game thread man. I'm talking to you specifically. Count the amount of time that Owen McCown is holding the ball. If it's 1.5 seconds, we physically, I don't think we can get a sack in that amount of time. So I considered a. I considered instead of writing a UTSA preview. Doing an explanatory column on. How Texas actually did. Previously impact the Ohio State offense with their defensive line and pass rush. Yeah, even though they didn't get more than two sex. Agreed. Let's talk about the defense is zero ones and twos. Jeremiah Bailey is a transfer former FCS product from Eastern Kentucky. He is the second player in trailer seven years at UTSA to earn a zero one or two jersey in his first season. With the program as a transfer. Bailey, I wouldn't watch them. He looks like a like a valued UDFA type guy.
Maybe a late round NFL draft pick if he's lucky. That's kind of the talent level. Number one is camera on Cooper. Very much looks like Tarzan kind of plays like Jane. UTSA has always had a designated sack getter Ian. They like lay like their blitz packages. They like their pressures. Tray Moore was that guy for them a few years ago. Texas fans should know him. They don't have their classic sack getter. Jamori Robinson fulfilled that role quite well. This guy's not at that same level. He looks the part. He hasn't played the part yet. Number two is the unfortunately named Owen Peewee. He is a solid veteran linebacker. He is their cover and go get tackles for suit linebacker. And he's a good player. He's a good veteran solid. The thing that strikes me Ian is outside of a couple of skill guys. They don't have the star power of UTSA teams just three years ago.
It's really difficult. I think their safeties are solid. Running and tackling. They had a pretty decent one last year and then SMU immediately poached him. Yep. That's like the name of the game. Is he they have to get guys. I think you develop young guys. They usually get like one good season out of a guy and they're gone. Yeah, or even the season before the season where they show promise. They can't even keep some of those guys if they've got the right physical traits. So that's the last one has to be enormously frustrating for trailer. These are not the Frank Harris. Roadrunners. That's what we're trying to impress upon you. If if 2023 UTSA played this team. 2023 UTSA went by three touchdowns. Yeah, I'm going to have to rescind my UTSA G5 or G6 playoff spot prediction.
Oh, you had UTSA? I didn't. Yeah. I was like, they have Almanor the quarterback back if they have one other good receiver. They'll just go. Yeah, I didn't get to that section. I told you. And this is disappointing. It's a good question of who will get that spot. We have some other questions to get to. So maybe we won't go into that today. Connor, I know this is alive. So we'll edit you know, can you have someone else replace him? This is disrespect. Oh, we are live. Oh, never mind. Sorry. All right. Ryan Nelson says on the chat that North Texas is the best G 16. Texas. Texas. That might be right. I don't know anything. I know that all their good players are at Oklahoma state. Oh, I think I might tell you about Indiana state. I think. He'll come back and see... What else is in England district than in Stockholm?
изучlish the git agreement. There is no hazelnitoiens is not ranked. UNLV wollte losing due to heavily learning. But he seemed carrying bout admittedly. I think he deserved playing Yan Jungle. You are doing that guy. No, apparently not. Maybe if they still had the DevEmiquin, maybe they would be a lot more interesting. Yeah, when he's playing for the buck, guys, I think he's going to get a lot of targets this week. I can tell you that. All right, another thing to know about them, fun fact that I dug up that's in the preview in that I sent you. Since 2003, since 2023, they are 16 and 3 in the Alamo Dome and 6 and 13 on the road, including a 3 and 10 mark over the last two years. So these road runners like to stay in their home nest. All right, we're moving on. You ready to go?
Yeah, do you want me to tell some stories about seeing road runners in the wild? I'm not going to tell Texas or no. Well, I grew up watching documentaries of a coyote battling a road runner. Yeah. And what's really interesting and it shows you how you just can't trust anything. Coyotes are twice as fast as road runners and extremely dexterous and agile. So it's not a change of direction thing. So I'm starting to question all the physics in those documentary films I used to watch of the coyote battling the road runner. Because like, for example, the coyote you could paint a road on a cliff side and then you can run through it. Because it's an extra dimensional being kind of like this is an AI video. Some people say they're cartoons, but they're pretty clearly documentaries and research tools. But some people think the coyotes an extra dimensional being kind of like bigfoot. So you know, when you write Ian writes bigfoot, erotica, an Amazon under a different name. You guys know this about them. But in B my for Sprite, you suggest that sash watch.
That's your third book. You suggest that sash watch is an extra dimensional being. And that's why we don't ever find their carcasses or their bones when they die. It just stands to reason, right? Yeah, it's obvious. I mean, it's not. I'm not saying you're a genius for this insight. I'm just saying it's obvious. But maybe the coyote is that. I don't know what I'm saying is I'm starting to question a lot. Also, if you drop an anvil on someone's head from like a thousand feet, you'll get like a bump that raises up. And then you can knock it back down with a small hammer. And then you're fine. I've heard that like some some people are telling me that's not true that you would die. I don't know what. All right, that's enough. Let's do questions. Let's go. All right, we're going to try to be rapid fire. Ian will not honor that at all. This is a great question right off the bat. If you could only attend one game, the rest of the regular season, which one do you go to?
Ian, who you got? Is it you? I think it's you. I think that's going to be a fun game to go to this season. Why? It looks like a looks like a longhorn win currently. It's always satisfying when Texas beats Oklahoma. This is why people think longhorn fans are arrogant. You didn't think oh, you want a close loss to close competition against the mighty Michigan Wolverines last Saturday? Yeah, you know, that aside, I still think they might have some matchup issues with Texas. So I don't know man. I heard John Matier wore VR goggles in the off season. He's seeing it better. So this thumb is helping. And he fixed his throwing form. He fixed his throwing form. So all those things are in their favor. Also, they fixed their own one. Hey, I would go to Tennessee.
I would go to Tennessee. I think that would be a blast. I think that's a great game. We don't really play. But last time we played them, I think it was 1968. We blew them out in a ballgame. Knoxville is gorgeous. I love Tennessee. The area down there, especially that area near the Blue Ridge. I'm sorry, the Smokey Mountains. Beautiful place. I would go see Tennessee. I want to go see the volunteer Navy and be in the big. Shaker box end zone record against OU Arkansas. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Same. I over under would be like two and a half. Archa eight looking too good. No, the. I think Oklahoma and Arkansas are both. I'm going to be very manageable games. A&M still might have some upside. A&M's defense is actually looks a little less gimmicky this year. Yeah, there actually in some areas more explosive. that Marco Jones guy is good that edge.
I think their detacles are looking pretty good too. Yeah, I don't know if their secondary is elite, but we'll see. All right, what are the highest upside opportunities to experiment against UTSA before we play conference stuff? That's a great Ian question. What are you thinking? I'm going to say, I'm going to give a boring answer, the backup linebackers. You want to develop some depth and experience there? Yeah, I want Kroceopala or whoever the next best inside linebacker is to get a really good look. So that if they lose, cryer in a huge game, it doesn't become point and shoot. The inside linebacker breads fans every play. Yeah. That's a huge one for me. Do you have an impression of Darius snow? From Michigan, I do. From Michigan state.
Yeah. I don't want to I don't think he's going to be the answer. That's what I'd say. Fair enough. Let's move on. This is. Are you going to read it from the elusive shadow? It has only been two games in a lock and change. But what has been the two or three most pleasant surprises so far? For me, one might be the physicality of the offensive line. What has been two or the three two or three of the biggest disappointments based on expectations? That's a great question. I'm going to read it from the top. Texas running inside zone. Effectively, I'll be it against very conservative coverages. And Dylan, Sikorski looking really good at left guard. That's been very encouraging to me. Yeah, Sikorski beating out Seymour.
Very pleasant surprise. That's been nice. And he didn't beat him out as like. I think he's going to be the first to see the ball. I think he's going to be the first to see the ball. Yeah, the ball. Yeah, the tall is the tradition. It's it's of course he's actually playing well. So that actually gives us some depth and flexibility with Seymour. We can now be our number three guard. Biggest disappointment based on expectations. We kind of knew this from. But Archmaning is not yet in his good as I hope he might be this season. He might get there before the end of the year. It should be totally fine. He's providing pretty winning play right now. He does so many different things really well. But he's got an overall skill set that should be piecing together to make him like an all-time dominant player.
And it's just not coming together yet. I agree. I agree. I will say mannings are slow starters and not just Arch. So I think he's a guy it's going to get steadily better as the year goes on. Right. Yep. Any other surprise good or bad surprises? No, it's too early. Yeah. Okay. I do want to see Beaumasco play with the same intensity and energy. He plays with when he gets to do press man. I want him to see you do that on every snap. No matter what coverage we're in. I'm getting the feeling Arch will be a better quarterback in the NFL than it'll be in college. It just seems like you need some more time to marinate before you can surely see the field into the stost. Yeah, nay, nay or maybe. I'll give you a brief aside that doesn't address your question directly in coca mocha, which is. Although I wish the very best for Archmaning and all things he does, including a long successful NFL career. I don't care about his NFL. I care about what he does at Texas. That said, I do think that he is a guy that steadily gets better.
Like he just the more he plays the better he gets and people were treating him last year like he was a veteran quarterback. And he he was a first year starter. So he's still growing. You know back in the old college football year three was the year you circled for your quarterback. Like, all right, he's played a lot of football now. Now it's all easy for him. Now he sees everything. This is year two and in the new world of college football, we treat a year two quarterback as like a grizzled veteran. So what do you think you. I think he's got I think he struggles a little bit with imposter syndrome. I think he needs to build some more confidence to get there because I think it's like he's got so much hype and so much around his name. I think he's when he got the hips early last year. And he was a little frozen early in this game. I think those are good indicators that this guy is terrified of not living up to all the hype and expectations that are put on him.
Yep. And just needs to build some confidence that like. You know, I am the air to the line of Manning, you know. Yeah, that's not. Yeah, that's Manning. All right, moving on. He's almost got the mindset of like the. The guy that gets to just be like a prince that's never asked to be on the throat. The Harry the. Just go party and live it up and not have to actually. Carry the way to the crown. That's right. All right, here's the guy who carries the way to the crown. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. But Gabe wears it lightly and it's great a plum. You can reach him at a three two five five seven one zero nine five. Why? Because he's the best damn orange guy in the great state of Texas. And if you're the best in Texas, he and you're the best in America. That works because we're the number one team in America. And we're the best team in Texas. Sorry, Aggies. You got to give Gabe a call. Why over 20 years in industry, former National Merit Scholar.
He's got a lot of grief from a top 25 law school. This guy's a problem solver beyond just quoting you mortgage rates of the day. And by the way, the mortgage rates he quotes you, they're going to be from 50 or 60 different wholesale vendors that he has competing for your business. And it's not going to be from big bank USA that gives you one rate, one option. And they pray you're too lazy to call a guy like Gabe and get him working on your behalf. Give him a call. Just I know you want to be research guy. I know you want to like, oh, I need to do my research. I'm not going to spend 19 pointless hours on this. And I'm going to get my email and my text and my phone in multiple span outlets that I'm going to get spam by mortgage guys for the rest of the year. No, call this number. Just get it done. 832 5571095. All right. From Padroia. I don't know if I'm allowed to ask about other teams. Of course you are. But do you think LSU is that good or is Clemson really bad? And do you have an early feel for Catholics versus convicts on November 7th?
I'll take a swing. Go ahead. I think LSU is certainly much improved, but I think Clemson's really bad. And I think they're really bad, not just in sort of like, we tend to evaluate teams by let's look at their talent. Let's look at their stats. Let's look at their advanced metrics. Clemson is bad because they quit during games. They're not trying hard. It's become a summer camp over there. And I know people are like, well, you know, the talentually down. They had nine guys drafted last year. They had nine guys drafted and they went seven and six in the ACC. You can't have two more guys drafted than ACC wins. They don't work. That can't be explained by anything other than it's not being taken. The football is not taken seriously there. By the way, as a Texas fan, I know what this looks like. And it looks like this. So, give them their flowers.
But Clemson was also starting a quarterback that should be fighting for the Georgia Southern job. Not quarterbacking Clemson. They look like a team that just checked the mail for their an aisle check and didn't find it again. That's what they look like. Yeah. Notre Dame and Miami got any leanings there. I love how Miami looks early. Obviously they've not played particularly difficult competition. But one thing that I did like Ian from this Miami team. When they went out and played Stanford in Palo Alto and traveled time zones and played an inferior opponent. Last year's Miami and the year before years, every Mario, Christy ball Miami would have screwed around in that game. And it would have been 17, 10 and a half time. And they would have pulled away like in the fourth quarter. This Miami team came out fired up energized and just blew out Stanford from the get go. There seems to be maybe an increased focus and buy in after that playoff run last year.
Also, Mensa is an improvement over half of that. Mensa is really good. I love that guy. And they're Miami speed and they're the wide receivers. They're all growing up. And they're also great at the lines of scrimmage. I know people are focused on what they lost. Focus on what they return and what they develop. They're Christy ball. Whatever you want to say about his game management. And you can develop the wine's is scrimmage. Follow somebody that said preseason that maybe this was a likely national title container. They are going to grow the grass on their field to about an inch and a half high. And they're going to leave on water sprinklers the night before that game. So don't don't underestimate the Irish home field advantage. Yep. Ian. Read the question for yourself. From the elusive shadow. This one is for Ian but Paul might enjoy it too. Is OU in trouble?
And if so, how much? Paul, you take the first crack. Scroll down, Connor. And you might find my answer to this. In Ian world, OU is always in trouble. Yeah, I saw that. But yeah, OU is in trouble. And I think that's why I think it's a good thing to do. I think it's a good thing to do. How much? The defense is still extremely good. And so don't ever underestimate that. And I wouldn't underestimate them and Dallas when we play them. Obviously, we like what we're seeing now and how things are trending. That defense is real and it's legit. We have some answers for that, typically, schematically. But I, you know, that game was 1710. So, like, you know, respect that defense. The offense looks like a lot of last year, although they did upgrade some people. Did you notice Charles Harris is going to be gone for a while? That's their number two true receiver.
Rocky Beers is as good as anticipated. But Ian's pointed out that Rocky Beers and Isaiah Sotania kind of played the same position. At least schematically. So Ian, can you expand on that or anything else? Oh, Beers is the, he's a flexed tight end. Yeah. If he's your only tight end on the field, you're going to be limited in the run game. And you're going to be limited helping out your offensive tackles that are in bad shape. Right. Especially with Fassusia. However long. Right. So they really want to play a tight end that's like a real blocker. And Beers is not that. So it's like, well, then just play 12 and then let beers move around. And hunt matchups. And he looks awesome at that. But now. And that second inside receiver position. He's now in the best place to put satania. Who was the only guy that did anything for them in all last year on offense. Yep. You could put satania outside.
Now it's harder to keep satania from being matched up with really good corners that can take him out of the game. Or double or doubled. Yes. So they are in a world of hurt there. I think they're in a world of hurt on a more big picture level. Because this team just took a loss that they all knew they couldn't afford to take. And then they had to announce the official signing of Brent Vennible's contract extension. And so like if they take this year, they cannot buy our bread. And they're like, they would have to like really bottom out. So they're already lining up their scapegoat Paul. And you know who it is. Is it that an article book? Yes, it is. Interesting. They're already asking. Kevin. Have don't they? They have him in, you know, on ice.
Absolutely. Yeah. Interesting. All right. Come on. In TTF. This right here. I put opponents into different tiers or tranches based on their threat. Two games in. Do you see any you would move to a different tier? Great question from Taylor T-Room. I'm pretty comfortable with my tiering so far. However, oh, you was showing some vulnerability. Again, I thought, oh, you could very easily start the year three and two. And still have a pretty good year. So I'm not discounting them quite yet. Mississippi State. I think is the breakout candidate from the bottom. But frankly, I covered that in the right up. I basically said if Camario Taylor is him. I'm breaking out because I think Ian and I have a higher estimation of Jeff Levy as a coach than a lot of people do. When you ever you ever see people like ranking the coaches in the SEC and he's always dead last.
All the people did was took the quality of program and ranked them right. They're not ranking the coach. I'm telling you Jeff Levy is better than half the coaches in the SEC. I mean, he is. So. And it looks like after that Minnesota game, which is hugely important for their confidence. To go up and beat up a mid tier middle class big 10 team that's always consistent. He's something and Camario Taylor, his mechanics. Did you see any highlights of him? No, I need to look it up. He looks clean, man. He's not a great athlete guy. He's he's clean. He's slick at his arm is phenomenal. So he's developed some soft skills in the passing game. He's developed some soft skills and he's 19 years old. So it's only going to get better. It's funny that Levy is talented as he is. And that I'm taking a job like Mississippi State. Why do you think that is? Oh, I remember because he was voted by Oklahoma. And they got really mad when he had his father-in-law, our briles in the field with them after the game.
So they are the program that doesn't want art briles associated with the program on the field. But has Barry Switzer always doing their little alumni circuit and all the handshake circuit and the bankwits and on radio. And Barry Switzer's offenses that people have all forgotten were actually worse than art briles. Isn't that weird? Strange. So funny. Gosh. What a great program. All right. That was sarcasm. That was for me. Yeah. It was me or you. So. At Ian Boyd after two games. Texas is still the national title favorite. Are the cornerbacks and detacles playing up to necessary standards to be successful space force units? You have happy Ian gets when people use space force. Because we're in shoot took off and it's now the moment later for an entire offense.
And Ian never gets credit obviously, but whatever he likes it. Space force is not taking off. Ian's trying to make it take off. It's not going to take off, but he gets. When they when people say it back to him, he gets really excited. The flyover is not taking off either. I've heard actually I've heard other people say this, but yeah, flyover hasn't taken off. Not like you're in shoot. And it doesn't even have a name. So I don't know what the hold up is here people. Exactly. But they look great. The detacles looked so much better on film than was obvious in the game. The corners. You know, maybe need to see a little more consistency like you mentioned from masco. In outside. But. They played a lot of zone. Against. And they had problems with Jeremiah Smith, who's a different kind of player.
So I feel pretty good about the secondary. There was a couple of things they were alarming at times. It's also early in the year in the systems. I feel great about Texas is the national title favorite. Especially if the offensive line is going to be. This good consistently. Because that's not something we were factoring in. So from a pure space force perspective in you don't put as much emphasis on this position in the secondary. But you agree it's important in terms of experience and like heavy play. We've got to get Kobe Black and Jonah Williams up to speed. Yeah, to reach our full potential. Do you agree or disagree? Yeah, well, they need. They need somebody besides Jolani to be. In sound leverage consistently. Yeah, they don't need them to be they don't need a special athlete. They need that sound leverage. That's what matters. Agreed. But that's.
That's not something that's like super alarming that they haven't nailed. In the new scheme. This early in the year. I thought it'd be maybe a little better. But I'm not super worried about it. If you have a choice in modern college football. Between elite corners and above average safeties or elite safeties and above average corners. I probably go corners every time, right? Yeah. Yeah. All right. From hookup. 1993. What do you think Texas will focus on wrapping the most on offense and defense? What do you think? Against UTSA. Whatever they're not going to do against Tennessee. Well, let's let's talk about that. The Christmas overlap there with other questions asking. Is there any overlap between what UTSA does and what Tennessee does on defense or offense? Well, I haven't watched what noles is up to these days. But my instinct is no. There's not a lot of overlap.
There isn't. Yeah, they're they're more standard spread. They have an air raid coach. And then trailer always insists that they maintain like tight ends that will block. So they can have a physical run game and then big linemen. So they're not really. They're not they're not a they're not a veer and cheat team. They're not a can. Yeah, that you know where those tight ends are, Ian. It's the starting tight end now for a and m and the starting tight end for Houston. Yeah. That right there that encompasses why UTSA. Can never be what they were. Because they're two best tight ends are starting for good programs. So tough. Also one thing the UTSA defense is a multiple three four unit. They do a ton of three three five type. And their whole thing is you will not run on us. You must throw over the top and then we're going to try to get big play explosives. And you're going to hit some explosives. But we're going to get turnovers and we don't care.
That has that's not going to work now with their current talent mix. And that's not how Tennessee plays. So there's really no carryover. So I hope that addresses some of the future questions on that. What can we learn about UTSA that translates to Tennessee? Not much. You just. Texas come out and take care of business. Everybody keep that in mind if Texas struggles for a second to adjust to whatever UTSA is doing. Because the odds that Texas. Did a lot of UTSA prep this week. I'd say are not high. If I were the coaches, I would prep UTSA a day and a half. I. I suspect that that is close to what is happening. If not even less. Yeah, I would be running Tennessee stuff. What's in Thursday? Yep. I'm going to the Tennessee game with two lifelong friends who happen to be die hard balls. How you feeling about this game? Two weeks out early strengths, weaknesses, etc. for the balls. What do you think Ian? Have you had a chance to lay eyes on the volunteers? I haven't watched him yet, but it's just hard for me to be worried about.
I'm not going to be the team with the freshman quarterback against this defense. I'm just. It doesn't. Do that much for me. I could be very wrong. What about yours? Here's an interesting fact. What Tennessee played their scrub opponent in the first week and blew him out. Their freshman quarterback, who's a dual threat. Had 10 carries in the first half. Yeah. Interesting, right? I mean, that tells you what hype what made the decision for hype. Because George McIntyre looked like he could be a fine operator of the veer and shoot. I mean, we watched the spring game. Yeah. But this guy's kind of special and his legs. Anytime you can involve the quarterbacks legs in the veer and shoot, it takes another dimension. Yes. So. So. At a point. Are you. Sorry. Is that scary or then? Or does that make you be like this is going to be too one dimensional? We haven't seen a true space creating offense yet and how we're going to play them.
Is juice cryer on the field? Like what's his role? Are we playing the box to shut the run? Are we playing past coverage bias? Kirby smart has changed it up over the years against Tennessee. And very often Kirby smart and Georgia have struggled early with Tennessee's pace. And then they adjust in the shut them down. So I'll just say that legs are an interesting way to create red zone opportunities and you know finish plays finish drives stuff like that. So I always respect that. And then I like hypo broadly within that system. I think he does a good job. I have some ideas for Tennessee, but I need to watch them to verify first. Their secondary looks vulnerable. I'll tell you that. And that's good. And also when Brandon played his first true road game at Georgia Tech. You struggle a little bit. Sub 50% completions. Just what I've been worried about.
Yeah. All right. Oh, here's this is very relevant. That's the higher star of the rock 314. Are you anticipated this good job? What are your current concern levels for the defense against the higher end? Veren shoot offenses, particularly Tennessee. So go ahead. The season is how does Texas defend. Veer and shoot offenses or spread offenses broadly with a dual threat quarterback. L.S. You Tennessee. Even Georgia in some instances because they formation you to death and gunner stocked in as a willing runner in a big game. If we see them in the SEC title game. This might this may be an option. Mississippi State. We're going to see this. How we respond to that is going to be critical in our season outcome. What do you think? Yeah. That's the definitely the case. The concerns are.
Consistency at safety. Yeah. You can't make big mistakes. The big big mistakes in leverage against the veren shoot are six. And it's a big mistake. I mean, you're a strong player. Um, How about this? Yeah. But here's why it's first of all difficult to zone extreme splits without being matchy, which you kind of start to adhere to man principles. You've got to run in quarterback the easy way to really attack the veren shoot is if you're confident that you can play man coverage and get hands on the receivers and jam. Right. And you also that eliminates their RPO game. Yeah. If you play zone against the veren shoot, you have those issues with the splits and how you're going to adjust the zone. Also, they can just RPO you. So. You're like, great. Play man.
The quarterback is six four to 30 and he runs a four five. So you're going to have your back turned to that guy. Is that Taylor you're talking about or is that the vice on. But yeah, Taylor. But yeah, Taylor, they're all huge and they can all run. So, yeah, you got to pick your poison. Obviously, we need to. I think we're going to go man spy, but we'll see. They looked really good in. Match zone against Ohio State. I think that's where they are most comfortable. So. I think we'll see that and then hope to control. Hope to control. Oh, it's the more likely loss Oklahoma or a and M. I hate these questions. The boomer answer is neither. But you have to answer because he's asking you most likely loss. So even if you think the likelihood is seven percent, right? So one might be six.
The seven is the more likely loss. That's a great question. Because of the true nature of Dallas and the red river or shootout. I've seen so many crazy upsets in that game. I never discount Murphy's law happening in the cotton bowl. So I might still go oh you. Although I have more back for Elko broadly is like a total football coach. I don't know what do you think. I think it's a name by a lot. Yeah. Have you seen the upset in in Dallas? Yeah. I've seen my share. See my share. But they they have to score. Yeah, could win it. Could win it. It's absolutely catch. Sarc. With some big you know right hand leads. Schematically. Yeah. Big plays in general. I think it's a big loss. I think it's a big loss. But I think it's a big loss. And they're going to do their damnedest to do exactly that.
But they have to score to really get away from us in that game. I'm so. That's the rub right in because here's the thing. If we had a volatile. People call archmaning a gun slinger. He's not. If we had a volatile quarterback. You could be like, Hey man. Oh you could get two defensive scores in this game. Archmaning takes care of the ball. Even when he's getting the crap eaten out of it takes care of the ball. And he's. You know what I mean? Yeah. You might be convinced of me on an. That might be the right answer. But there are a lot better football team than Oklahoma. They have way more talent on their roster. Especially if Lewis and Fassusie are in and out of the lineup. Two best players literally. Yeah. I do think that an online is going to prove to be quite vulnerable as the season progresses. And people will have an. Arizona State's not going to reveal that to you. So some teams coming on the schedule are going to reveal that to you. They're well coached though. I will say. Elco is a good coach man. I. I said it time and time again.
I wish they had. We're hiring buffoons again. At least one of them is. Yeah. Although I. I'll catch that. Vina Bulls is. Is good defensive coach is Oklahoma has ever had. It's just. Yeah. I think that's true. Lousy coach. All things are many equal. How many quarterbacks would you take over arch? If any for this season only. I'm assuming chambles makes you at least pause. Yeah, I think he makes me more than pause. I. In the college game right now. Like this instance. Would you take turn it out of chambles? I. My pro arch caveat. Is that it's like well is it this offense with Sarc? Yeah. Because arch is pretty good in this offense. I guess. I'm sure you could be good. This deep wall accuracy is sick. Yeah. I mean, I think. Just sound like an idiot if you don't say chambles. What about Mensa? I feel like Mensa is like this Sarc ideal quarterback.
Yeah, he's kind of like. We're like a year away from KJ Lacey getting Mensa. This is cop instead of like Bryce gun. So I actually think Dia Bell was our Mensa. Mensa small though, right? I didn't need like six foot flat. No. No. I thought he was short. Nope. He is googling quickly. Holy crap. He's six foot three. Yeah. I don't know why. I'm an impression of him. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm an impression of him being more like chambles size. That's crazy. Mensa looks like a classic NFL pocket passer. What about Dante Morgan? No. What about Nico at UCLA? Has he been figuring it out? Yeah, that new coach Bob Chesney is a good coach man.
I'm sure he's running a game ball really well. And that helps you guys keep your eyes on Bob Chesney. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Maybe. I'm not sure. He could be involved with Texas. Who knows. How about Sam Levit? No, I need to see a lot more from Levit. He threw it to Phoenix against Louisiana Tech. One of them is a pick six. I didn't even watch that. I know that he's listed as doubtful for this week. Hoover. No. He's more experienced. I think he's a good player. Yeah, people. People. People. I like Mendoza a lot. I like to work a lot. I like Hoover. I think dignity picks good players. But at some point you got to look at what they're doing at Indiana. And recognize that. That is an extremely quarterback friendly system. Yeah. Extremely. Well, same. No, I thought same was solid the other night.
Live. But I think he gets rattled by pressure still. Ryan Nelson says what about Gunner Stockton on the college level? Not overmaning. Yeah. Gunner. He's got a really good supporting cast and infrastructure. Not in the way that we traditionally talk about it, which is wide receivers. It's everything else. Like I mean, Georgia's a line running backs tight ends. It's all built for Gunner Stockton to look good. And the problem with Gunner Stockton is when he's bad, he's real bad. So also the the proposition with Stockton is that you get some dual threatness, some careful game management. Winnerness. Winner and he's experienced enough to handle like a high volume of offense. Yeah, which is all the value that's the exact proposition with Archmage. Well, what about Camario Taylor? I need to see a lot more from Taylor before I see.
Here's the here's the enticing thing about Camario. In your mind, I think you have been built up. You're thinking of him because you haven't seen him this year. You're thinking it was like, I've seen like really athletic dual threat quarter backspot war. His mechanics. Clean. I'm just saying. So right now, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, I'm just saying. So right now, no, you can't make that trade. Next year, I think Texas should go try to money whip Camario Taylor. I don't care who we lose. That's that's how impressed I was. We'll see how the season plays out. I need to see it. I heard him at the press conference, I see media days with Levy. He didn't emanate. High football like you. Yeah, interesting. He might be a baller, man. He might be a baller. Yeah, I did watch him last year a fair bit. And he was clearly impressive. Oh, Jayden, my Ava.
No. You know what? I got to say. I got a shot. Jayden, my Ava is a really good executor of Lincoln Riley stuff. And he's he's quite accurate. I'll say that. I think he's kind of hit her miss a times with accuracy. So is Lincoln Riley. Okay. All you do is get him on the road. It changed a time zone and everything. Everything goes wrong. Oh, God. Goodness.
