Today is Friday, October 2nd, and this is your daily Go Birds Morning Update, giving you all the Eagles news you need to know, as well as what to keep an eye out for today. Can't believe it's Friday already. Can't believe the Eagles are already two days away from playing a game. It feels like just yesterday we were in Chicago getting ready for a Bears game that
didn't go so hot. So maybe it's a good thing the Eagles are about to play again. Get the taste of the lost side of their mouth, but I think it's a tough game. In Manomand, the news on Thursday from the Eagles injury report was not good. So we got a lot to get into today where of course, going to continue to preview the Eagles matchup. Talk about the Eagles offensive line versus the Rams defensive line. Frankly, one of the more concerning matchups in this game. I think when you think of the Rams, you automatically think of McVeigh and Stafford, but this defensive line has some real, some real threats and that's without Miles Garrett. So we'll get into that. Talk about some of the stuff, Jalen. Herds had to say, little Vic Fangeau update. Well, let's get you on your way for a Friday because by the way, tomorrow, don't forget Goberts Radio, Cherry Hill, Ashley Furniture, Ty Reese Maxi. Ty Reese Maxi is going to be next to Goberts Radio. My guess is he doesn't know Goberts Radio is going to be there, but it's going to be pretty cool. Be a lot of people there get a chance to meet Ty Reese and you can stop by and talk little Eagles with us. So make sure you stop by for that.
All right, let's get right into it with the injury report. So the Eagles released their injury report for the second straight day as they're required to and have bad news for the second straight day, which it's not required to have bad news, but it had it nonetheless. So for the second straight day, Zach Bond did not practice due to a concussion and Devonte Smith did not practice due to a hamstring injury. Not good. You could argue going into this game. I mean, I think Jalen hurts is always the most important player on offense. But Zach Bond might be the most important player on this defense going into the game when you consider how the Rams like to attack the linebacker, the play action, the multiple tight ends. So not having Zach Bond a really bad, you know, a really bad potential reality for this game. And I find hard to believe he will play. Maybe he'll get cleared in time if anyone could practice without a full week at Zach Bond. He knows that defense, Fangio Trussum, but bad news. If he doesn't play, then it looks like it would be Jihad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. Jihad Campbell was a full participant after being a limited participant on Wednesday due to a knee injury.
So it looks like Jihad will play. It looks like Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. will play. And that's a tough matchup because like I said, they like to attack the linebacker, Jihad, and Trotter have not taken many reps together in a real game. In fact, they might have not taken any reps together in a real game. And there's a lot of communication to be done there with this offense. So definitely concerning. As for Devonte, look, maybe they're just resting him because it's a short week. He's clearly dealing with a hamstring thing. But even if he does play on Sunday, it's obvious his hamstring is still bothering him. Now they've done a good job getting him ready. Shout out to the training staff. Shout out to him. Uh, he was awesome against the Barrett. So at least as awesome as you could be in a game, we're really squirt seven points. But the fact he's not practicing the fact he's on the injury report, it's not good. It doesn't look good. So if they're without Zach Bond and without Devonte, that's going to be a tough, a tough swing for, uh, for this offense. So maybe he will play. There's definitely a chance he could play. I think it could just be resting him up. But bad news on the injury report. So outside of that, Marquis Brown still did not practice.
Didn't practice on Wednesday either with an ankle injury. Dallas Goddard with a knee injury. Fred Johnson also with a knee injury. So those three players look like they'll miss, uh, the second consecutive game for those three. And then limited Jordan Davis with a calf injury. Marcus Epps, a new addition of the injury report with a growing injury. Moro Jomo limited for the second straight day with a calf elbow injury and Will Shipley limited with a foot injury. He did not practice on Wednesday. So it's step in the right direction for Will Shipley. Outside of that, tank Bigs B was full. Jihad Campbell, as we said, was full. Jalen Carter, full with that wrist injury. Darius Cooper, a full participant with his knee injury. Jonathan Grenard, a full participant and Byron Young with a toe injury. Also a full participant. So Zach Bond and Devonte Smith, uh, the big names keep an eye on heading into today's practice. And look, Goddard is a big loss. I feel like when like, when AJ used to not play or Devonte used to not play or say, one doesn't play, we always are like, oh, that's a big loss. You don't bring up Goddard, but like Goddard's a huge loss.
And going into this season, the two most dependable past catchers they had, were Dallas, Goddard and Devonte Smith. So, um, you know, going into a tough matchup against the Rams, certainly not ideal to potentially be without, uh, two of their best players overall and their two best past past catchers. As for the schedule for today, the Eagles will be back at the practice facility and they will, we will hear from Nick Sireon. He obviously won't tell us anything about what's going on at the injuries, but we'll hear from Nick at 1120. Practice begins at 1210 and then 120, the locker room open. So, should be an informative day from an injury perspective, we'll get the final injury report, uh, for the week when, uh, when that comes out later today. So, not good news for the Eagles in this injury report. All right, let's get into some things that people had to say. Uh, Jalen Hertz spoke to the media this week and he gave us what was, I don't want to say a rare look into his messaging to the team, but he doesn't often like say, you know, this was what I told the team, right?
And he did tell us actually what he said to the team after that loss in Chicago. And I actually think it kind of echoed something we talked about in the daily pod on, uh, on Thursday. So, here's Jalen Hertz when asked, he was asked kind of like, what his takeaway from the game was after, you know, a few days to sit on it, but then he got into what his messaging to the team was. So, here's Jalen Hertz with, uh, with that. A lot of opportunity for growth for us. So, you know, that can go a number of ways. I think as we continue to come together and, um, um, test the rules, uh, test the details of what we're asked to do. And ultimately, you know, find clarity in what we're doing. I think that's an important thing. So, you know, when I look at that game, a lot of opportunities out there, um, a lot of moments that we always, we can have back. And then all you can do is learn from it. And so, it was one of the key questions I asked the team,
a follow in the game is who are we? You know, ask yourself that question because that's the choice you can make. And, you know, being deliberate and intentional on how we move forward, so we can continue to improve. So, so, a ton of opportunity in that. And I think, um, you know, bigger picture, you know, I think the, uh, you know, the expectation for us out there when we go out there on that field. And I think all of the experiences that we've had together, we want to go out there and play at our level. We want to win. And I think us, onboarding new things and us learning new things is a part of the process of us becoming who we are. So, I've talked about continuity and building that continuity, building that chemistry, us coming together, staying together and finding our flow, finding out what this team this year is going to be. So, there are a lot of lessons, right? In the first three games, you know, being able to pull out the first two find ways to win. Obviously, didn't find a way to win this last one.
So, just want to continue to move forward, continue to improve. So, the part that really struck me of that is the who are we, right? Like, asking the team who are we? And he says, you know, find clarity in what we're doing. And maybe we're still learning. And later on in the press conference, he went on to say that it's a growth period, right? And things aren't smooth. I'm paraphrasing slightly here because people are learning, people are thinking, and when you're out there thinking, you're not playing fat as fast as you possibly can, right? But the part that really got to me and stuck out to me was who are we? And that was kind of what I was asking in Thursday's pod, right? Like, who are these Eagles? Are these Eagles? Nick and Jalen and the success they've had. And obviously, a lot of players on the team as well, right? Like Lane, Milada, Devante, Sequon, like a lot of key players. But, you know, the head coach, a quarterback. Like, you look at who the Eagles have been underneath and Jalen. And they've been a team that's won a Super Bowl, gone to the Super Bowl twice, won double-digit games almost every year, even in down years, won double-digit games.
But they've not really been a team for any prolonged stretch until recently, that was afric. Right? And as I talked about in Thursday's pod, over the last 17 games, they're 9-8. And one of those losses is a playoff loss. So 9-8, no playoff wins. One of the worst offences in the NFL over a full 17-game slate. And what I asked on Thursday's pod was, like, who are they? And they're at an inflection point. And I think you kind of hear Jalen not to be clear, like echoing what I'm saying. But the quote of, who are we? I think it's interesting. And I think if you're Jalen after three games, you're probably saying to your team, like, it's time to look into me. Like, who are we? Are we a team that is going to be average? Are we a team that is going to have a ton of second half penalties? Are we a team that is going to, you know, struggle on offense? Are we a team that's going to turn the ball over? Are we a team that's not going to force turnovers? Are we a team that doesn't get a pass rush? Are we a team that's like all those things, right? What kind of team are we? And early on in the season, you're building to be that type of team.
But when you look, you're building to be what type of every team, whatever kind of team you want to be, I should say. But you go through that process and then, you know, eventually that team defines itself. And last year, after an early season kind of struggle, right, where they weren't playing great, they almost kind of turned it around, got a little bit towards the end. But ultimately, they ended up being who they were, which was a team that struggled in the second half, a team that struggled with penalties, and just didn't have it. Like, you think of that Niners game? They had a lead in that game. They blew it. They came out okay in that game. They didn't play that well in the second half, right? Like, mental mistakes in that game. So, I think when Jalen asks the team, like, who are we? It is time for them to decide. Are they going to be a team that is more in line with 22, 23, 24? And I know 23, you know, you don't view as a good year, but they did start like, what, 10 in one that year or something like that? Like, are you going to be that team where you sprint out to a lead? You're fighting for the one seed. You have the one seed in two out of those three years, or they didn't have it one year, actually.
But regardless, like, are you going to be one of the best teams in the NFC? Or are we just going to kind of like, you know, plot along here and just whatever happens happens? Like, we're going to make mistakes. That's who we are. We are a sloppy team. We are a team that has penalties. So I thought that part really stuck with me. I also think the fine clarity in what we're doing. I'm not here with this yet. And we'll talk about it. Um, actually, bring it up now. So fine clarity in what we're doing, right? Last year, the Eagles didn't practice in training camp, like under center, play action, that type of thing. And so when they tried to do it, I think you heard and, you know, loosely paraphrasing here. Jalen say, you know, we don't have much time on task with that, right? Like, they didn't practice it. So throughout training camp, they practiced a lot under center, play action, you know, that type of thing. Well, they've not really done a ton of that so far. And when they have done it, they've been really bad at it. And the other thing that they have done is they're not really using multiple tight end sets. I feel like all off season, we talked about them using multiple tight end sets.
Now, in training camp, I honestly can't speak to how often they had two tight end sets out there. Like, I couldn't give you, you know, a, a, a stat for that. I know I'm a training camp stat for how many times he used multiple tight ends. To me, it didn't look like they did it a ton. That would just be my very quick kind of trying to remember and jot my memory. But they also haven't done a lot in, in the regular season, right? So like, when Jalen says, you know, find clarity in who we are, well, it felt like all off season, they were gonna be a multiple tight end set. Now, personnel could have to do with that. And we'll talk about that in a second. But these stats via EJ Jenkins of PHOY who, I'm sorry, EJ Smith, 90J Jenkins. EJ Smith of PHOY tweets out, the Eagles offense is used 11 personnel on a league high 76.7% of snaps under new offensive coordinator, Sean Manion, opting to use multiple tight end sets on just 22.1% of snaps, the third lowest rate in the NFL. So they're using the 11 personnel, right? Like the, the basic personnel, the most in the NFL. They're using the multiple tight end set thing,
which is what you see this team they're playing this week. The Rams do, you're seeing like that type of offense, you see them use multiple tight ends. The third lowest, right? Then how's it working? Well, they've averaged 5.5 yards per play when featuring 11 personnel, which is slightly below the league average of 5.7. When using 12 personnel, they've averaged just 2.8 yards per play, the second fewest in the NFL. So when they're using like a non 11 personnel, they've struggled. And I think part of this, when Jaylen's saying like, who are we, right? Like, are we going to be the under center play action team? Are we going to be a multiple tight end set? Like, or are we gonna go back to what we've done, which is the shotgun 11 personnel, like that type of thing. So I thought it was an interesting answer from Jaylen. And I think those stats are really interesting. Like the fact that they've not used multiple tight end sets, they're not going under center of time. They're not doing play action a ton. Like, it's just nothing that we kind of talked about, right? So I find it interesting.
And again, it goes back to what we talked about on Thursday, but being at an inflection point of which way you go in here. Like, are you gonna do all these things that you kind of talked about all off season? Are you gonna go, are you gonna win games or are you gonna kind of figure out your way to 500? So I think it's an interesting point in the season for the team. Now, one way for them to turn it around is to be way better in the second half. They've been a good first half offense. The issue has been in the second half. So Jaylen was asked about the second half offenses and our second half offense and kind of what's going on there. And here's what he had to say. The first half is the first half. Yeah, I think there are a lot of things that on the field, and we've got to be better at just from a alignment assignment, key technique, controlling the things that we can, you know, controlling the things that we can control. We've got to be better at that, controlling things that we can control. And secondly, you know, making sure we're in the right place
and making a proper adjustment. So, you know, we're headed to sticks and we're doing the things that we need to do. And so those are all been conversations that everyone's been having. I started to move forward on it. Let's clear the air about hybrids with Kia. I live in Pasadena. So my Kia tell you, ride, turbo hybrid has to do a little of everything. Jalen brings up alignment assignment key technique. We heard alignment assignment, a lot during training camp, control the things we can control. He says making sure we're in the right place and making the proper adjustments. And I think that last word there
is what really people are focusing on, like adjustments, half time adjustments. Are they in the first half coming out with a good game plan, executing it, going ahead, getting a lead, and then as the other team adjusts, are they adjusting to that adjustment? And the reality is nobody can really say, unless you're in that building. And I'll tell you this, like people in that building aren't giving out the answer yet, right? So the question from the outside is like, what's going on? Well, you look at the stats and this is via NFL researcher on Twitter. The Eagles have the highest three in out rate in the second half this season. So some of the other teams, here's the top five. The Steelers are fifth with the fifth highest three in out rate at 31.3%. The Raiders 4, 31.8, the Ravens 3rd, 33.3, the Texans are second at 38.9. So we know the Eagles are the highest, right? They have the highest three in out rate. Texans, they're almost 39%. The Eagles 50%. 50% of their second half possessions this year are going three in out.
And for what it's worth, the Steelers, like, are the, these five I just listed, are the only five teams above 30%. And it goes on to say that the Eagles, 72.7% of third quarter drives have ended in three in out, highest by any team in any quarter. So you look at the second half and they're at 50% total. You look at just the third quarter and they're going three in out on 72, just under 73% of their drives. So that's been a major problem for them, like duh, right? You look at what's happening in the second half. The offense is essentially falling off the map, right? Like they're not scoring in the second half, they're not really moving the ball. And against the Bears, like when they had a chance to stay in that game, they were only down three at half time. They were only down 20 to seven right when the, right when the fourth was about to begin. And they blew it and they blew it. And they were not able to score any points. And because of that, it all fell apart. So I think when you look at how this team can turn things around, obviously, obviously, like you have to start taking care of the ball better.
You have to start having fewer penalties. You have to not get behind the sticks. But you've got to figure out the second half of, you've got to figure out the second half with what's going on with your offense. So question is like, who is to blame? And again, we don't have the answer yet. And the truth is, it's probably a little bit of everything, right? Like, minion could be making bad calls or minion could be making good calls and the players aren't executing them. Jalen could be having plays where he saves the offense. He could have, having plays where he hurts the offense. Like it's a, it's a combination of things, right? But I think one thing we might have to consider is this. The second half of offense was bad last year, right? So if you look at the common denominators of why they're good in the first half versus the second half, one year over the next, like Kevin Petulo was blamed last year for not having good adjustments. Well, it's three games into this year and they're still not making adjustments in the second half. So obviously you know me, like I'm the players are to blame or the players are to praise guy, right? Like that's why when they win the game against Tennessee, like I think minion deserve credit
for how he handled the two-minute drill, but I said like Jalen won them that game. So my initial inclination on what the problem is, is if it was a problem last year and it's a problem this year, the only two common denominators are Nick Seriani and Jalen hurts. So I think it's got to be one of them. Either like Nick is not good at making adjustments or Jalen's not good with in-game adjustments. Like maybe Jalen is excellent at learning a game plan, executing it, getting the team off to a lead, playing well. Maybe he's not great at in-game adjustments where they try to do things on the fly and he doesn't handle that well, right? And it would kind of line up a little bit with what we talked about a few minutes ago with, where last year they wanted to try to do different things on offense, like midway through the year. And Jalen was kind of like, we don't have much time on task with that. So it's possible that maybe Jalen in-game is like great at executing on the fly, great at executing the game plan, but is not good with making like big wholesale adjustments in the middle of the game.
Or Nick can't do it, right? And so I say Nick and not Sean Manion. Sean Manion deserves blame here, but Sean Manion's in his third game as an offensive coordinator. It wasn't here last year, and they had the same problem. So it could be, Nick is also not good at in-game adjustments. He's graded a game plan, he's graded putting it together, but when it comes to thinking on the fly in-game, that's not a strength to his. So it could be a number of things, like I said, maybe the offensive line isn't as good, and that makes it tough, and they wear down as the game goes on. Like it could be a number of things. It could be mental mistakes, which would fall on Nick, right? But I think when you talk about why they're not adjusting well in the second half, one of the top things, it has to be Nick or Jalen, because they're the only common denominators from last year. So we will see if they're able to solve it. And like I said, it's a major kind of inflection point for the Eagles right now on what type of team they are going to be. All right, Vic Fangio spoke to the media earlier this week, and as always, like very short answers, it's so funny to look at the transcript of Nick versus the transcript of Fangio.
Like I don't think a single answer of his went over one line of text, whereas with Nick, like every answer, is over 5, 6, 7, 8 lines, some get to like 10, 11, 12 lines. So Vic's a man, not a man of many words, but if he said a few things, he said, you know, he doesn't think teams are targeting the Eagles linebackers. He said the big play where it looked like maybe, you know, I think just to the naked eye blamed McCuba, it sounded like that was a miscommunication between Tereq Wolland and Coupardigine. He wouldn't say who, you know, I tend to lean to Tereq Wolland because he didn't have a great game, but he, you know, that was a problem from the corners, that was not a problem with the safety, but I think the most interesting thing he had to say was the idea that from moving forward, because Michael Carter played in that game, and Fangio talked that basically moving forward, Michael Carter and Marcus Epps are going to split reps, and it's not like a situational thing, where, you know, Michael Carter is going to be the safety on in nickel packages, or Marcus Epps is going to be the safety on third downs.
They're just going to rotate, like they're going to be like, you go in that drive, you go in that drive, and maybe not that simplistic, but that basically is what he said, that they're going to rotate. So first, I think it's a little bit of like, if you don't have two, if you have two safeties next to McCuba, you really don't have any, like, no great team is rotating guys like that, right? No team that loves their starter is rotating him in and out of the game. And this also lines up with Kenny Moore, you know, getting number 21 this week, Kenny Moore assigned to the active roster, granite, you know, I think because, well, I know, because another team tried to sign him, but Kenny Moore would not have stayed if he wasn't, didn't have a path to get on the field. He's not some career eagle, right? Like he stayed because he thinks he's going to play. So it really feels like that safety job, next standard McCuba is up for the taking. Now, Vic Fangio did kind of throw cold water on there, yet Kenny Moore could play soon, saying, you know, he just got here, all those things, very, you know, very, very, Vic Fangio answer. But it does open up to the fact that you look
at the questions on this team, and at safety, they don't have a clear safety next to McCuba, they're rotating now, right? So they don't have a clear safety there. At center, they went from canned jargons to Drew Kendall, and we'll see if they go back to canned jargons. Back up quarterback, Nick this week would not say who the backup is, you know, so it was both of them, then it was Dalton, now maybe it's McKee or like whatever, right? And then tight ends a mess overall, got to get hurt, gets hurt, Eli Stowers gets hurt, they signs accords, like the other two players, EJ Jenkins and Johnny Munt, have been completing on factors. So going into the season or off season, however you want to say it, I think there were a few positions where you go, okay, what are they going to do here? Safety didn't solve that, tight end didn't solve that. And I don't think center specifically, but offensive line was like, what are they going to do that is they're having guys moving in and out. And then backup quarterback, they created that problem by bringing in Andy Dalton. So when Fangeo says they're splitting reps between Michael Carter and Marcus Epps,
and they're rotating and they don't have a clear starter, like my main takeaway is this is not a good look for Howie. Even when you go back to why are they doing so much 11 person L versus multiple tight end sets, maybe they just, they went into the off season, like this is the offense we want to run, but now it doesn't match the personnel, like Stowers has hurt, got it has hurt, hurts is coming off a torn ACL. So if you're running multiple tight end sets, like are you really trying to get EJ Jenkins and Johnny Munn out on the field? So the more this season goes on, and it's still very new, right? It's in its infancy. You look and you think, okay, is this Howie's fault? Like is it Howie's fault that they're having these problems? Like did Howie not do it? And there's not many seasons I can think of, where I go, you know, oh, the main problem is how he had a bad off season. But so far through three games, like he's certainly up there in the list of like, why maybe they've not has been, not been as good as they wanted on offense or defense. All right, on the other side, they're gonna have to be pretty good on offense and defense this week to beat the Los Angeles Rams. So on the other side, we will preview
the Eagles offensive line versus a very good Rams defensive line. But first, a word from our sponsors. Compact, capable, surprisingly roomy, always forward with Kia. So yesterday we talked about the Eagles Pass rush versus the Rams offensive line gave the advantage to the Rams offensive line there. They can run block. Their decent pass blockers not as great at it, but they're very good at run blocking. And the Eagles defensive line has somewhat underperformed. So now let's take on the flip side of that. The Eagles offensive line versus the Rams defensive line. And the good news for the Eagles is the Rams are familiar opponent, right? They played them last year. They played them twice in 2024. Like they have played this group of defensive linemen quite a bit. Now going into the year, it looked like it was going to look very different. Miles Garrett, they acquired and then Aaron Donald obviously came out of retirement. Well, Aaron Donald is going to play. Miles Garrett, well obviously not. He's on IR, so he's out, I believe, weeks two through five, so he won't play week four. That's a big deal, obviously, right? Miles Garrett, very good player, completely changes
a complexion of this Rams offensive line, or defensive line because they have very good past rushing defensive tackles. They have one outside of Miles Garrett, very good ed rusher, but without Miles Garrett, they're lacking that other guy on the outside. So I think going into this, like they are talented and we're going to break this down, but I think they're manageable if the Eagles can play to their potential. So let's look at this Rams defensive line. Not a great start to the year from them. They're 29th in the league in SACS, 18th in Hurries, 14th in quarterback hits. They blitz right around league average, 17th in the league, blitz about 22, 23% of the time, and they're 23rd in the league with snaps with the pressure. Now what's interesting about the Rams is, and I've seen this a lot this week, is people have kind of decided to view this in two different ways. Like there's the Rams of week two and three, and there's the Rams of week one. And I think they view them that way because a, the Australia thing, they played in Australia, they clearly mismanaged the flight thing, so you didn't see who the Rams truly were there.
But it's especially true for the Rams defensive line. And I'll know if I completely subscribe to that idea in general, if like they're different teams. I know Australia is far and they seem to mess that up, but like they made that mistake. The Eagles went to Brazil in week one last year, not super comparable, but you know, new country, long flight, all those things, and they won that game. So, but I do think it's true with the defensive line, because in week one, they didn't have Aaron Donald and they did have Miles Garrett, weeks two and three, and in week four, they won't have Miles Garrett and they do have Aaron Donald. So, let's start on the middle here with the Rams defensive line. So, defensive tackles. They got two really good defensive tackles in Bradenfisk and Kobe Turner. And it feels like we've talked about these two players a bunch over the past years, because they played him three times. And you know, I'm a big fan of the Rams, the Rams defensive line personnel in part, you know, in a big part, because of Bradenfisk and Kobe Turner. So, Bradenfisk, 27th and pressure this year, but it's early, has six pressures. He had four, he was 14th in the entire NFL
among defensive tackles last year. So, top 15 there. Kobe Turner, five pressure so far this year, which is 43rd among defensive tackles, but he was second in the, he was second in the NFL last year. So, they have two defensive tackles that were in the top 15 in pressures last year. And then obviously Kobe Turner, you know, right behind number one, which is what number two is. Now, in terms of where they line up, Bradenfisk will play both sides, but he's a little more on the left. Kobe Turner will play both sides, so he's a little more on the right. But honestly, they're both very good. I think they're somewhat equal. Kobe Turner obviously more pressures last year. So, I don't really think it matters. Like, who's going up against Steen? Who's going up against Jerrogans? But it's a really tough matchup for Jerrogans, because we've seen him struggle the last two weeks. We saw him struggle with Jeffrey Simmons. Neither of these players are Jeffrey Simmons, but they're also not, you know, the kind of trash defensive tackles that the Bears have. So, tough matchup on the interior. Then you add Aaron Donaldon. So Aaron Donaldon has played 30-ish, 35-ish snaps that each of the last two weeks.
He has three total pressures. He plays on the left side. He plays on the right side. And I'm just, you know, I'm not watch every Aaron Donald snap. Gunnau assume he's still a very good player. Jalen Hertz was asked about him. And, you know, of course, he wasn't going to say, oh, he's not that good anymore. But it looks like he's playing well. Three pressures isn't great, but the more he plays and more he gets back into it. So definitely a really tough matchup on the inside with a fisk turner and Aaron Donald. And with the Eagles offensive line, you know, at its worst of all the spots. Now, I do think Tyler Steen played really well last week overall. I think Drew Kendall played well. I think Cam Jerrogans had moments where he did not, but I thought the offensive line as a whole was pretty good from a past-brush, past-blocking perspective against the Bears. And we know they ran the ball well, which we'll get into in a minute. But I would say the interior like Drew Kendall's third career start, Cam Jerrogans, third career started in his new position. I think the Rams have the advantage there. Now, along the edges, no miles Garrett as we talked about. But they do have Byron Young. Byron Young, very, very good player.
14 pressures this season is tied for six most in the NFL. Really good edd Russia. He plays predominantly on the left side. So he'll go up against my Lada. My Lada has talked about like, you know, he can be, that's a tough matchup. He always seems to not enjoy playing the Rams. Er, he seems to enjoy it because of like the intensity and the toughness. But I feel like every time I talk to him after the game, he's like, woo, that was, you know, that was hard, right? So Byron Young, a tough matchup, but the good news is they don't have anybody else really at edge because they had miles Garrett and he's not there anymore. So Josiah Stewart has six pressures, not nothing. But he's not a great player. He lines up predominantly on the right. So he'll go up against, um, wait, I messed that up. Sorry. Byron Young lines up on the left side. So he will go up against right tackle Lane Johnson. My apologies, my mistake. Um, yeah, because my Lada, I used to talk about going against that edd Russia that they traded to Cleveland, whose name is escaping me right now. So that makes sense. So Byron Young up against Lane Johnson, Lane Johnson, really good, obviously still, tough matchup
because all good Byron Young is, but you like Lane to win that matchup. And then my Lada goes up against Josiah Stewart because he lines up on the right, which means my Lada will line up on the left. See, it's like figuring it out there. Josiah Stewart against my Lada's matchup you like. So I like the matchup on the exterior, on the edges, right? I like Lane against Byron Young, tough matchup for sure. And then I really like my Lada versus Josiah Stewart. So the question is the middle. And that's what we'll come down to. Like how does Drew Kendall play? How does Cam Jerrigan's play? How does Tyler Steen handle a tough matchup? Like that is the key to this. And then there's the running perspective. So they've been decent against the run so far. They're 14th in the NFL and rushing yards allowed per attempt at just 4.0. They've not allowed a running play of 20 plus yards and they've not allowed a running play of 40 plus yards. So they're solid against the run. And now the Eagles did, I think, show improvement against the run last week. So you feel good about the running game going into it. But yeah, I think they can run the ball against the Rams.
It's not going to be as easy as it was against the Bears because the Bears are awful pretty much everything on defense. Didn't look like it last week. But the Bears are not a good defense. The Rams are much better. So overall, I think I got to give the advantage to the Rams on the defensive line. I mean, I think that interior matchup is pretty difficult. So I will give the Rams defensive line the edge over the Eagles offensive line heading into this matchup. All right, that'll do it for today's daily pod. Go out, enjoy the rest of your day. And until next time, he's Elliot. I'm James. Talk to you guys later. Go for it! Compact, capable, surprisingly roomy. Always forward with Kia. And nutrition can play a major role there. Many women are getting far too many omega-6 fats and not enough omega-3s. But most people have no idea what their ratio actually looks like. That's one reason I personally trust cronometer. It doesn't just track your food.
It gives you detailed nutrient data, including your omega-3 intake and even your omega-3 to 6 ratio. That level of insight can help you become more intentional about the food you're eating every day. Nutrition is accurate, easy to use, and far more comprehensive than many other nutrition apps. I love that I can look beyond calories and really evaluate nutrition quality, including protein, fiber, iron, and healthy fats. Especially during the stage of life when nutrition becomes even more important.
