Yeah, 92 3 the fan and welcome on in it is afternoon drive that open courtesy off and to a sports network Ohio and guardians TV and Maca Robinson. I'm the board. Yes. Good job out of you. All right, Jake Maureen producing today's show. We have Katie Polly doing the updates and Nick Padone across from myself today. Hello, Nick, how you doing today? What's up, Jake? Yeah, I'm glad to be in here with you. I'm glad to be looking at Mac behind the glass for the next. Why did you put such an hour on his name? I don't know. I'm just glad to see Mac. I feel like I have a chase fired up. Man, I'll take it. I don't think I've seen Mac since Indy. Yeah, no, I haven't seen you since Combine. All right, this isn't like the show isn't a hey, haven't seen you in a while. Haven't seen you in a while. How you doing? Everyone good? Every Mac are you good? You're doing good since Indy? Yeah, doing good. Okay, Nick, you're doing good since Indy. Doing good. Did you guys hang out? Was there something fun that happened at Indy between the two of you guys? We just crossed fast a few times, honestly. We didn't get a chance to
meet up out out of some of the bars. Okay, so like just a quick high and that was it. That's all that happened. Yeah, I'm just generally excited to see Mac when I haven't seen Mac in a while. Why? I don't know. I think you're the only person that feels this way towards Mac. Why are you genuinely excited to see Mac? Hey, now, take it easy here. Mac has always been a fun time. There's a lot of fast fall here about four minutes in on the show. I just become numb to it because I get I get I'm graced with your presence every day. Yeah, I've just become numb to it. Whereas I'm looking forward to having some wise cracks come from that direction of the room over the next five hours. It's just not typically how it out this goes. Typically how it goes is people will come in and they'll be like, whoa, so Nick Wilson so great to see you haven't seen you in a while. Oh, Jonathan, oh, it's been so long. Oh, Mac, how you doing? I mean, hey, I take this welcome development. That's it. That's very good for you. Good, good glow up that you're having here today, Mac. We like this for you. Good development. We'll keep these things going. All right, I almost caught you. Mac now. All right, Nick. We got to get down to the brass tax today. Uh,
Munkin did speak. And I really don't know what to make of this. I'm going to be honest with you. I think I think this is a I think this is a good thing for the Shadour Sanders fans out there. That's that like my first initial read on it is this is a good thing for the Shadour Sanders fans. It feels like the horse head did a lot of work. Okay. I don't that can't be the only reason why. Yeah, but but Munkin can be moved off that. Munkin can be bribed. He mentioned today that if the Sean Watson buys him a golden elephant, then he would come from by the way. Where did he all of a sudden come up with golden elephant? Well, I mean, it was something that Munkin's been like secretly wanting to purchase. And he's like, I don't know. Somebody would give me that golden elephant. Maybe just maybe you get a leg up in this competition. Can this competition be bought? It seems like it can be based off Munkin's remarks today that he's got the golden horse head from Shadour Sanders, the porcelain golden horse head that Sanders got coach Munk. First birthday is up on the mantle between two brown elements. He said he would include a golden elephant. Why do you go? Why? Well, I put it out there on X an elephant is kind of a fitting
animal for Deshaun. Is he not? He has been the elephant in the room about what's ill the browns over the last 20, 22 in the trade went down. So, okay, that's not that it is an elephant in the room. And by the way, well, he's very funny. And a golden elephant is that he paid him $230 million. If Munkin was thinking that, that's hysterical. If that's actually how he came to the conclusion of saying golden elephant in this moment. But also as hysterical as it is, it also then would highlight the idea that he doesn't want anything to do with Deshaun Watson. And Deshaun Watson is, in fact, the elephant in the room. And nobody wants anything to do with the elephant in the room. You want the guy that gave you the horse head? Not the guy that you're like, this is a problem for me daily. I have to dig. Jimmy Haslam's going to his wedding. He's convinced that he's still something. This is a problem for me. Like, I thought it was a great sign. All things considered elephant jokes aside. I thought it was a great sign today that it felt like Todd Munkin was at least in favor of Shadour over Deshaun to start this whole thing off. I hope so. Because when I think of big, strong animals that I can win with, I think of a horse.
When I think of big, strong animals that smell really bad, I think of Deshaun Watson. And in similar to that Daryl audio that we played in the open with this, he's not an animal Nick. What was that? Just heard that stench audio from Daryl in the open that had me thinking about elephants and just making comparisons. Elephants in the room. Okay. We did the quarterbacks are not animals. Okay. We got it. We got to we got to make sure that we just this full blanket out there. That was Todd. That wasn't me. No, he wanted that elephant gift. That's the gift that he went out. How we got there? I guess I'll never know. I guess I'll never know how we got there. So Daryl and I on the Sunday show, I guess I guess you're not privy to this conversation. No, I'm not back. The layers of the onion as to why? Like, what was the meaning of the porcelain horse head? It's not that it's not that deep like Todd Munkin likes horses. Right. We eventually came to that book. But at one point, we were like the horse. But it wasn't because he was the lead horse in the race. How can an Anthony had to do said more Anthony than can a deduce that he was going to be the next
head coach was the line that Ken had and that was you guys were tracking the planes in the air. You should have been looking at the animals on the ground. That was the horses because the horses were being moved across state lines and then pulled up into Ohio and it's like, why would Todd Munkin be bringing his horses to Ohio? Well, it's simple because he's now the next head coach. Like, that was the biggest giveaway. But yeah, Munkin, big horse guy. And so all should or did there was just give him something that he enjoys. Right. Just give that he enjoys. It's not like he should or is trying to be like, I'm the, I'm like, I'm your pony for this. Like, I don't think so. I don't think that's what should or Sanders was putting down, well, the only thing I caught on your Sunday show this last weekend, I was driving around and I didn't see if you guys responded to it or not. You took this call from this guy named William and William, it was giving you a cap start and he knows exactly where you're going. Well, he ended the, he ended the cap start with. And so in conclusion, I think that's a great point by me and made by myself and I think they should do it. He was like, he was almost confirming the idea
that his point was a great one. And that's why they should then do it. And it's like, all right, guy, all right, I can't work with this. I don't know what to do with this. No, I, that, and then I didn't realize that you guys responded. We were trying to, but then we, Darryl got sidetracked and it went off the rails from there, but we intended on answering Williams. Great thought that he had that just never got answered. I can't even remember what the thought was. No, and I don't think he can even remember it. It just, he knows that he was great at the end of it. All right, so Todd Munkin spoke. Let's hear from Todd Munkin. Let's see if you guys believe that he was giving any sort of sign that should or Sanders should be at least in the front running for this quarterback competition. And as far as the reps are concerned, be given more reps than to Sean early on. Here we go. I wouldn't say they're going to be evenly disposed, but we'll definitely disperse them to give ourselves a chance to at least evaluate who we have on the roster, whoever that might be. I basically what we've seen in the past and where the year ended last year. I'm not ready to say that yet. I just said the reps, the reps
can't be divided up even more. There's no chance we need to be at least on a daily basis. All right, so he knows. He knows what we know as well and that idea that it's not that this can't be a 50-50 split, somebody's going to be taking it. Now will he, and I think he went on to talk about how maybe it'll be changed daily, but it really seemed in that first little stretch, and I'm going to take the first little stretch and weigh it because that's what he was believing before he tried to cover it up, that Shadour in fact has the pole position, especially because of the quip that he gave of that they're going to factor in how last year ended. Well, how last year ended was with Shadour Sanders on the field and to Sean Watson on the physically unable to perform list until they opened up that practice window and the practice window was open, but he never walked through it. He never got onto an actual regular season field, never played in actual time. And Todd Munkin wouldn't have seen the practice field stuff. Right. So we've got last year ended was with Shadour Sanders, who had a little bit of momentum there. I'd say at the end, it felt like Shadour was starting to figure some things out. He had the big throws,
he had Vegas, and then even they lost that Tennessee game. Remember how angry everybody was after that and Shadour Sanders actually played all right after he had that wild interception, then he kind of put the team on his back to come back. So it does feel like if we're basing, if Todd's basing who is going to get reps based off of last year, that kind of is a dead giveaway, because one guy played last year and one guy did not. I took that same way as well. I thought this was a great sign for the Shadour should start week one camp. Now again, it doesn't mean that anything is written in the stars. Like you still have to go out there and perform, but if Munkin himself is saying we can't split this thing up evenly, one guy is going to have an advantage early on and it seems like what he's telling us today is that guy is going to be Shadour Sanders early. Now it doesn't mean it should or is job to lose. We needed this news though. We needed this news bad after two consecutive days of just to Sean Watson love. We this this news was needed today. I let me ask you guys two one six four seven four to below 92. Does Todd Munkin already have a favorite? I think by what we've discussed in this opening segment, the idea that he
he also waxed poetic about Shadour Sanders being in his office a ton and them getting to spend a lot of time together. Meanwhile, it's like, where's the shot? I don't know. You know, we're still in Gabriel. Well, and we'll get into that later on. Dylan Gabriel doesn't want to be around the team right now. It seems like you're at least is just waiting until he's forced to be around the team. And I think he knows where exactly he's going to end up. And that's fine. That's an okay place for Dylan Gabriel to be. But Shadour seems like he has the upper hand here. And I think that is really good news for those people that were concerned over the past couple days that to Sean Watson had a real shot. Did to Sean still has a real shot, but the early early part of this is going to lead towards Shadour. I'm just worried, though, hearing what the owner said yesterday of how should how to Sean could turn a swing and a miss into a home run. Like miss me with all that. JPI want more of what you're having. I want more of the Shadour Sanders optimism that that should be the week one start. But the reason why you're thinking this, though, is it because you don't trust the idea that Todd Munkins going to actually choose who the quarterback is? Possibly. I'm a I'm I'm
perpetually afraid that they're going to do the stupid thing and the stupid thing in this situation would be putting to Sean Watson on. And I think you're right to have that fear because in the past they haven't shown us that that in when push comes to shove if they can tell us all day and Andrew Barry tried doing it on Sunday. The idea that this is going to be Todd Munkins decision. And Jimmy has them tried doing it yesterday. This is going to be Todd Munkins decision. But we've seen when push comes to shove what happens. And there's just been too much to Sean Watson talk from Adam Schefter from Mary Kay Cabot that was kind of in the weeks leading up to Sunday and Monday. We're here from Andrew Barry that he's at least down to entertain Watson V Sanders. And then we hear Jimmy has them waxing poetic about to Sean Watson. And then a lot of people connecting the dots. Well, he's here. You want to get something out of that contract. It is fully guaranteed. They're going to put them on the field and play them. I think that's the complete wrong way of going about this. So yeah, I guess my fear is rooted in that Todd might not
have his say. And I just don't believe that anything good can come from putting to Sean Watson on the field in 26. No, we're locked step in that. And so maybe this is us searching and trying to find something that isn't to Sean Watson. I can fully admit to that and believe that. But I also hear what Todd Munkin had to say. And especially the first part of what he had to say, it does give me hope that Todd Munkin wants the same thing that we want. And it does give me hope that Todd Munkin understands to Sean cannot play football at this point. That's not that's not I mean, it's not a real option, JP. It should not be a real option. And the fact that they continue to float it as a real option is the football guys to actually prevail here. Okay, we need the football guys to step in and say, listen, this isn't something you can actually do. Andrew Barry is not convinced that to Sean Watson can't play. And it doesn't seem like Jimmy Haslam's convinced that and that he can't play either. We need Todd Munkin, the football guy to step in and say, Hey, guys, I've been doing this my whole life. You can't take another 700 days off and expect to come back from this injury, this injury and this injury and expect it all to look good. I need him to be the logic in the room. And that's a tough ask. I get that. But it's what I need
from him. 2647 40 below 92. Does Todd Munkin already have a favorite and are the browns trying to throw everyone off the cent. But don'ts got a theory. We'll get to that next. It's after new drive right here on the fan.
