You know when people try a new food and suddenly it's like, okay, hold on. I got a new favorite food. That's the reaction a lot of people are having when they first try Cupid Mayon. Yeah, it's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it at the grocery store. And this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. Cupid only uses egg yolks, which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper, almost buttery. Once people try it, they start putting it on everything. Egg sandwiches, fries, burgers, chefs use it, restaurants use it, people who really care about flavor use it. You don't know just about anything. You then you'll understand Cupid, the original Japanese mayonnaise. This is Daniel Cormier from the Daniel Cormier Show. No! No! Warrior Mom! No! Warrior Mom! Warrior Mom! Warrior Mom! Warrior! Warrior! No! Warrior Mom! No! Warrior Mom! No! Warrior Mom! No! Warrior Mom! No! Warrior Mom! Alright, welcome back to another episode of the new Warrior Mom podcast. I am Maul. I'm Rory. Rory today. I don't know, man. This is Legends, man. Yeah, but this is, I don't know if you really know, though. You're a little too young for this. This here today. Just a little too young. You just missed this here, but no. Today, they had such a long run that it overlaps to my young asses. Yeah, but when I was really outside, my young, this was like, these were the guys right here. Today, we are joined by the legendary. And I mean, at every sense of the word, the legendary, DPG, Dog Pound Gang, Dazz Dillinger Corruptus in the building.

I don't know. Man, happy to be here. Listen, man. Just personalized here. You and my big brother, Hopper, really, really close. But aside from that, man, just having y'all here today, for me, is big because growing up in New York, y'all were some of the first guys that made or took New Yorkers to the West Coast just through the music and the lyrics and kind of gave us the vibe. So having y'all here today for me to really kick you with challenge, ask questions that I always wanted to ask. And Dazz already said, ask whatever you want. We talk about whatever. So we had to talk about and to give more flowers more. I came in this podcast after the Rock the Bells Crews. Yes. I had the opportunity to see you guys perform live on the Rock the Bells Crews. And I'm not just saying this because you guys are here. I said it right when I got off the boat. It was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in my entire life. Thank you. I had so much fun. Thank you very much. I was really trying to do that. I had fun. Yeah. I was a though for guys like yourselves, you know, being veterans in every sense of the

word to still find joy and pleasure and performance and creating and writing music so many years later. Like what part of it still keeps y'all engaged wanting to do it? I mean, you know, just being active, just being just for the love of hip hop. You know, I'm saying when we wasn't rapping and watching people rapping, like, you know, his idol rock him, he got a new album coming out Friday. And that's his idol, you know, just us inspiring each other and long journey. Yeah. You know, and making the business out of it too because that's what they made it out of it. And that's what we playing a part of. But hip hop is such a, you know, for all intents, it's such a young job. Just now turning maybe 52 years old. To see the guys like DPG that was in it from when, you know, hip hop became this global phenomenon to years later, being what it is. How much of it do you still love about the genre or do you find things where you like,

I hate that it turned into this and then now it's this. But before it was really more about just the love for the art and the passion and business and points and splits and all that. That's what makes it. Yeah. Yeah. The splits. The splits is going to always take away some of the passion. Yeah. You know, saying so it's just about getting your house in order and making it happen. You know, saying just while we keep on doing it is encouraging the young, you know, saying and, you know, we are always welcoming the young because we like teachers, you know, saying make it happen because we got kids and growing up and they like the music too. So and they ask and that's so we know we're just embraced that, you know, saying and that keep us out there and keep us young. Now how much of it and having children, right? How much of the music do they put y'all on to bring to y'all now? Yeah. Like because when I was listening to DPG, I had to sneak and listen to y'all. Like I couldn't, I couldn't play that shit. I had to sneak a listen to Dolby style. My mom took the tape away for me about three times.

I had to go to my mom for the jack off hour. Like she wasn't feeling it. And what's crazy? I'm not. Yeah. The jack off hour was crazy. But you know, when when Dolby style came out, I took a real time. Like I literally had to sneak to listen to that and hear what y'all got to say. Now my mom is the biggest new fan of night. Like she loves. And so I'm just like, you didn't want me listening to the same guy when I was 12 years old. And now you love snooze. Right. Now being fathers and having and having kids that, you know, are basically supporting a new generation. How much of the music do y'all hear from them? And y'all like, what the hell is that? What do y'all listening to? Y'all listening to it. Y'all listening to it. Y'all listening to it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's all good. Long live that little bass too. Y'all like it, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I love it. You know what I'm saying? It's all elevation for hip hop. You know, it's time, as time changes, so does the music. It could change for us.

And when we came, our sound was totally different than before us. Yeah. So you know, the transition keeps going on, but you know, it's all in the name of hip hop. These are branches of hip hop. Right. Now, with that being said, because we talk about that a lot too, we do need to categorize some of this newer stuff as something other than hip hop, though. Like, we get that it's from the tree, but it's different branches. Like you said, like, it may not be hip hop, per se, but it comes from that foundation of to beat the MC, the rapping and things like that. But a lot of this new stuff today is not rap is not hip hop. I think they all have their own names, right? You got trap. You know what I'm saying? They come up with their own names. Yeah. You know, what else is there? They're all my strip club music. Yeah. That would be trap. It's a trap. Yeah. That's trap. You know what I'm saying? Boom, Bap. That's the former hip hop, but it's its own.

Right. That, that, that, that, that branch of it. Similar to when gangster rap came up. Right. Yeah. Who do you think the rap is? Who do you think the rap is? Who do you think the rap is? Who do you think the rap is? D1, what do you think G campaigning rapper is that you've got to complete straight. What do you do for ST may six in the morning. Right. You know, I was listening to Schooly Duke. Yeah. What does that mean? Right. So you know, when you look at gangster rap, you know, it's, it's, you categorize as the West Coast. We took it to that level, but Schooly Duke with, you know, gangster rap is basically speaking from the streets. Mm-hmm. You know what I'm saying? I used to, like, Schooly Duke is the first gangster rapper

he's ever heard. So I speaking from about the streets and being hard like that, you know, iced tea is key. And then of course you got Eric and W.A. You know what I'm saying? But iced tea is definitely for Father. And it's funny to see, you know, again, just with a guy's that whose music was deemed so dangerous and was, they wanted it to be banned. Seeing what Snoop was doing now, seeing what iced tea is doing now, seeing what Dr. Drey is doing now, what Ice Cube is doing now, it shows that, you know, the genre of hip hop, we can start from here where people are like, oh, we don't want to hear that or that's dangerous and it's the you shouldn't be listening to that. But if you give these guys an opportunity to show that their talent and just give them outlet, years later, licking with all of these guys. Just like a plan in the fruity growth. Right, right. Um, now let's go to the beginning. Corrupt, you were born in Philly and you moved to the, you moved to the West Coast. Um, do you feel like you left Philly too soon to have a,

kind of like a connection to Philly rappers or like Philly rap? Do you feel like you left too early or do you feel like people can attribute corrupt as being? Cause Philly is one of the cities that could do some of the best rappers when it comes to the spin. Do you feel like you left too young or would you say, you still are a part of that lineage of Philly rappers? Um, no. Up in LA. Okay. Yeah. Philly created me. Oh, right. Philly taught me the mic and gave me my beginning. Whoop. Mm hmm. Well, actually, let me take that back. Cause that's when I first started battling with Philly. So yeah, I am a part of that lineage. Okay. You know what I'm saying? Cause that's where I first started battle rapping. That's where I learned my three styles and how to battle rapping the first place. That's all Philadelphia in two five. So it's like, yeah, I'm a part of that lineage. I would have to say period.

Cause you know, I'm a 72 baby and I got into hip hop and I was eight. Right. So from eight years old, on the way to 16 was all Philly knowledge. Mm hmm. And then moving to the West Coast, the West Coast groovy. And then moving to being artists, actual professional artists, hip hop artists. You know what I'm saying? But yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, definitely. Now, you said about the freestyle. I know that's how, you know, just knowing some of your history. That's how you and Snoop kind of connected was battling each other. Yes, I know. And without from what I read. Yes. Um, they say that nobody could really got the better of anybody. Right. But what was the tone? Like what was the tone with y'all? Cause it's all piece in love. Like yeah, you nice, you nice. But like walking away from that, did you feel like he nice, but I got him. No, I really didn't. He was, he was the first one to actually last with me.

Oh, I was chopping people's heads off left and right. You know, it's you. But though it's crazy, you're such a simple style. But, you know, he was simple but slick. You know what I'm saying? But he's rapping about everybody around liked it. Without rapping about it, everybody was like, oh, they liked it. They just loved both of us. And that's the key to the battle. Yeah. Is who controls the crowd. You see what I'm saying? Whoever spits the shit that make people say, oh, you got him. You know, and as I got him like that dog, got him like that. I'm like, oh, shit. I'm like, damn, to the police gang. That's when we just said, it's new came in. Fuck it. It started rapping about us. You know, if we make it, if I make it, I'ma come get you. If you make it, you come to me and I bounced off of that. And we went from battling to camaraderie. Right. At the end of the day, you know, I left like that.

I mean, extra tight. That's the, I don't know about this one. Yeah. And he just, I didn't get that type of, you know, that feel you give when you want, you know, you want, yeah, because I was slaughtering people off of just two rhymes. Right. First time I come in bang. And it's like, oh, and they would say something. I mean, get that out of your bag in the battles over. Right, right. With dog, it never stopped. He just kept complimenting what I was doing. It was sick. And you just said with two rhymes because it was a thing back in the day as rapist and MC's, y'all used to get take three, four rhymes and, and told a whole country. Right. And, you know, because we didn't have the internet. So we wouldn't hear what you spit on the radio and L.O. The radio and Denver. Like we wouldn't hear that by the time y'all got to New York. Now with, you know, social media, because you know, a clip that always go viral is of game. And you know, he read red, red rose white selling. Yeah. Like he said, but he acting like he don't know what he's about to say. And they showing a clip of you said that in like 30 battles and 33 styles already.

Right. I'll get you now. But now it's like with the internet, we can see that before when y'all was out there battling, we would never hit those bars until you can. I said, I said, around 50 states. Right. So I got to Canada. Right. And then you got to switch it up. Yeah. Like that type of theory. Yeah. What you saying? Yeah. But now it's like you have to you spit this round today. It goes viral the whole internet. Is it it's like as mc's like, shit, I got to write another 80 bars because they don't want to hear this no more. Right. So is it tougher today to be like looking at the mc's like, I got to respect them because they got to have more in the clip. Right. Because now they shoot a clip. It's it's viral is going. That's it. They go on 50 to 60 bars. Right. Yeah. Well, you know, shit, I mean, you talking about battling or are you talking about just right? Right. Yeah, just having bars as a mc because now what you put it out there is gone.

Well, you know, that's the whole key. See, you never goes out there. So I think that yeah, you got to have your game extra stepped up nowadays. Yeah. And that's one of the credits I give to them now because they write constantly, constantly have to be on their A game. You know, I freestyle. So what they got to write all the time. I ain't got to write shit. Yeah, you know, anybody. Yeah. That's the question. Yeah, every rhyme is different. Yeah, they can't. That's not happening. Every time. Yeah, freestyle. Yeah. That's go. Yeah. All the rappers are on percassettes. They can't freestyle on percassettes. You might not sharpen up with. Mask off. Yeah. Oh, yeah. What was the full circle moment with Snoop buying death row and you guys putting music out on death row again in this era? What's the difference been with that?

This has been different. Different. No, I'm signing the death row. So, you know, the difference is I'm doing it with family. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You know, we're all more mature now and we can enjoy it more. Yeah. Now, that's it. I can't quite remember, but I feel like you and Snoop might have had a moment on social media a few months ago. Yeah. A little back and forth about the business of death row. Like, what conversations did you have not going into detail because that's personal between y'all? Where does things stand now with Snoop with DPG with death row? I mean, you know, we're still doing our own thing. You're doing his thing, doing my thing. We're doing our thing, you know, I'm just getting to the business. Yeah. You know, I was there for longevity, you know, and that's what we're doing, just auditing. That's it. He gave us that was the very PC. Yeah.

He doing our day. He doing his thing. Somebody else was going to see Howard. I was going to see Howard. Yeah. In total. But you have, have y'all had personal conversations to try to get things to a better space. No. Is that what you're open to? Am I open to it? Yeah. Open to have a conversation and sit with Snoop. After I handled on my business, back to the splits, see? See everything. Go hip hop is beautiful. The splits. Confidence. Confidence. But, but, but, but, music, it, it, it, it gets in the way of the music to art and personal friendships, family relationships, which is something that, but if you did the work, you did the work. Yeah. What? That's why you think and we kind of talked about this on the boat. Why do you think producers are usually the first people to get fucked over in this whole process? Like, why has that been the case? They not on stage every time. Yeah. You know, I'm saying they're not here. When you knock the beat, I was, you ain't got to see you no more.

You know what I mean? So that's it. But without that, there's no, I mean, what we, but we already got to beat out of you already for what? 75 hundred. Yeah. 15 hundred and a thousand two hundred dollars, fifty dollars a beat. Right. We got what we want already now. We going now, you know, saying now you got the big ways because now the artist got to make the deal for the album and the distributor and everybody to publish it and all that, they want to cut to the manager want to cut. Right. You know, I mean, yeah. I know, like Kanye talked about it on his first album, the concept. We've heard about Ghost Writers, but Kanye was, I think, the first person to bring up Ghost Producing, which, which I think he kind of falsely accused D.D. of that and D.D. clear a lot of that up. But we do know Ghost Producing exists. I was taking with Mike Dean and he was telling me, you know, I was looking at Kanye. It's like 500 writers on the song.

You know, it's in the money chopped up. Yeah. Especially if you got a publisher that he's going to take half and that leaves you with what a half a percent. Yeah. So I know what you're talking about, you know, I was saying. So that's why I just registered all mine and get it together. You know, I was in. Did you run into that early though where maybe a producer had a name and did like one thing on your beat and now all of a sudden it becomes produced by somebody else? Well, Dr. Drake, I wasn't just saying that loud. Yeah. You know, not really. You know what I'm saying? Because I really just put it all together myself and you present it. Yeah. It's all already done. You know, you learn that from growing up. So that's just a lot of things that you got to learn coming up in this game. Trailing error. Yeah. Right. You know, and then later on, you got a down pack. No worry about.

And Tim teaching us a little thing about the studio like, you know, progressing and making 10 or 15 songs in the day instead of listening to one song all day. You know what I'm saying? So knocking and running, going back and revising doing all that producing shit. You know, saying that producing shit, how you doing all day, right? You know what I mean? You know what I mean? You know, studio ethics. You know what you're doing with your time in the studio and how you can progress more

by the way you utilize your time in the studio. So you just have you on that. You know, you just sit here and waste time. Plus 15, 100 foot studio, 500 foot engine. Yep. Back in the days, it was 250 dollars for the tape, the two inch. Right. No pro tools, no, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. So it's a learning experience and now it's just a clickable button. Yeah. You all over the world. It just depends if they like the artwork. Right. And it's not a fact, right? Right. Like we dating. Like we do. So like ambitions as a writer, I imagine you do those on the spot with pocket like a beat tape. How did that work? You know, I make beats in the morning. Okay. So I had made a couple of beats in the morning, you know, some old school stuff like that and that and that. You know, and then sugarcar me say to part coming in what you got. I got something. You know, we go to studio and we job ambitions of a writer.

So ambitions of a writer set the tone for every other song. That's for the come on. Right. You know what I mean? So if it ain't that level, it ain't getting on there. So everything else was tuned to America's most wanted. I ain't mad at the scandals and I ain't mad at you. You know what I'm saying? And I'm I made it. And yeah, got my mind made that were met to red and spected decks. So you know, so that was all with the end like I was all in that was all in two days. You know, that's a crazy issue. To me, that's the craziest thing ever. Yeah. Like you could knock out five classic records in two days like man, we just knocked albums out of the night, man. They got a hundred fifty thousand cash on the independent level. And we going there and knock a whole lot. We walking out of that six in the morning with the month, you know, that type of thing. You know, when you got to go get it, you got to go get it. Yeah, but that work ethic is insane to be able to do that. But not just we talk about classic records though.

Yeah. Like how are y'all able to just create classic records in a day's time? Like that's that's almost like unheard of. And just having fun and enjoying each other. That's about it. Having fun. You know, when y'all hanging out, you know, you know, we didn't know what we did, but we did it. Right. You know, I'm saying. We created music there that we don't even know going to be a classic. Or you know, we didn't even think about no classic. It's so good. Right. You know, the story getting the drink and something. Right. And then and then made it where it was worth. And so that's what it is right now. You know, making classic music without knowing. Yeah. Oh, that's that's those classics are different. So like, so now I got to ask like the, any no fun unless the homies can't have like what was happening in that session. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. To me, like, you could put that in my opinion.

We we argue about this a lot of like if aliens came down, what song would you play to represent rap music to an alien? To me, that's in the top five of like, this is represents this is right. Yeah. I can show you exactly what hip hop is in this one song. Right. What was happening during that session or putting that record together? We were just having a time of our lives, man. It's just fun joking clowning. You know, saying back, you know, back in on each other and just the beat just set it off. Yeah. From there, you know, Nate laid that hook. It was a rap. I mean, when he comes on there talking about it and he even blicked my balls. I don't want to fuck it. He just say, I don't like this. He just say the crazy shit. It's like, oh, is that right now? And I want you to say, come on. I gave a fuck about it. Bitch, I'd always be broke. Never have no mother fucking angel. I tell you the truth. I used to have to sneak to listen to this.

And looking back, it's like now, but we here today. This is not like nothing crazy. No, no, we just have fun. Incredible. That's like us listening back in the day to listen to two live crew. Right. Okay. I used to get in trouble for listening. Hey, pop listening to this. What is it? Put it in there. Hey, we want some pussy. What the fuck is this? You know, dude, who bra? You know, you know, you would play that shit. Mom coming in. Digging that hair. What you doing? Listen to that devil's return that up. And the y'all made the most games. Come on. Come on. You know, my mom and his mom, we heavily in the church. You know, saying my mom heavily in the church, you know, listening. So what was y'all mother's reactions to talk stuff to one of the greatest hours of hip hop history? Be careful, baby. Give the glory. And this grace. And me, we took our mother to the Grammys.

Okay. We got 95. We got nominated for a Grammy. So, you know, just to had that accolade and say, damn, mama, you want to the Grammy. We did something. We made something great out of it. We ain't in jail. Right. I did it in the coffins. Right. Right. You'd rather us doing this. Yeah. You would rather us be doing this. Well, can't you talk about the Lord? Right. Make one for me, baby. Talk about the Lord one time. All right, mama, I got you. Let's talk about the four horsemen came about with true rascals, killer priests and cannabis. How did that come fruition? Throughout the years, knowing each other and me and razz, you know, I'm saying in cannabis, you know, and I'm saying in killer priests, just knowing each other and chopping it and we do always be around each other and chop it up.

And finally, we just, you know, it's like me and dad when we came in with the dog pound, you know, just one cool thing. Say, we don't, you know, come out with this right here, you know, saying because I already had my name. I'm the headless horseman from the door. Sleepy Hollow. Right. You know, I'm saying so we always like horsemen. We the horsemen is coming from the apocalypse. You know, I'm saying with all the horses, we like, that's us, man, we the apocalypse and then bam, you know, we came over there and just, just cracked friendship and camaraderie. Right. Does it all. Rascals is one of the other, other guys from the West Coast under it. I feel like that doesn't get spoken about enough. Right. And we start talking about just mts from the West Coast. Yeah, buddy. He's one of those guys that's like, you can't overlook the skill set at all. When we're talking about West Coast rap. Right. To me, Rascals definitely one of the most underrated out of the West Coast. He said, Rascals always been sick and he didn't have nobody to stamp him like, you know,

me and dad had Snoop and Dr. Dre. You know, having those behind you is just Rascals living with Jay Z. Jay Z. He was living with Jay Z. What year was that back in the day before they even started R Rascals. Back in the day before they even started Ragnar Fella. I mean, that's from Memphis Bleak was saying they lived in the apartment with the cousin. The old cousin. The Jays cousin. And Jay Z. And Jay told him to battle. He got drunk and then before, right. And whatever. Back in California. I said, you have to stamp him. Yeah. Yeah. And then he said, you know, I'm going to say, you have to stamp him. Yeah. Dr. Dre. We have to be hot. I don't know if he lived with be hot. I don't know what I'm going to say. He lived with be hot. That's what Bleak said. I mean, it's just a cousin got to be real. Yeah. And Rascals told me the story. The guy called him and asked him, right? When he was, I was looking at him. You too. That's crazy. Do you see that? That's the story. Just back then. Yeah. I was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. I was looking at him. You too. That's crazy.

Do you see that? That's the story. Just back then, the skills got him there. Right. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I never knew that. We got to add that to the list of like, when JD told us, like, yeah, and I left I used to just sleep on the couch in my house. Yeah. It's like, it's just random stories like that. Like, it's crazy. Like, the California. I think we're going to hang out with the left dog out. Yeah. That fun, I swear. And she at least made it. Let them. Yeah. Yeah. I stayed at Lisa's house from Stone Mountain posted there. And you know, Lisa's family. She told me also how to get on for death row. Okay. Yeah. She did. That's your work. That's your work. That's your work. That's your work. That's your work. That's your work. Yeah. She would have the tools to know how to get to the college. Yeah. That's your work. Yeah. That's a good job. That's a good job. CREVOR, you heard, um, Janese new album? I have. It's incredible. Yes, it is. Really, really good. She stays on her A game.

I mean, she's one of the best writers. Yes. Empty. Um, I know you've been on her projects in the past. How did that relationship form between you and Janese? Well, you know, Janese from my neighborhood, the overhills. So, you know, uh, her work with Nip and her work with, uh, you know, she did work with, uh, with Drake, you know, in the beginning, but she was always, uh, writing and doing things and standing the scene. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, I never was around her then, but then when she began to win, you know, it was, it was the worst. You dropped that one right there and gave it up, slossing how? And I was like, oh, she's running the neighborhood of the college. Right. Um, and just running around across her like that, you know, me and her and me, LeJ, and her, you know, her stars. So we all just clicked anyway, you know, became family. So, you know, it just, you know, being from the same neighborhood, you eventually going to run into each other.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That voice mail you did on her. That shit was a lot of, never called me. Yeah, buddy. I made, I gave, I gave her that a year before she used it. And then when she was working on an album at that time, she called me and said, you know, I threw that on my album. I was like, damn, for real. Yeah. I'm going to put featuring you. I said, damn, good looking. I was just sending you some encouragement. Yeah. Right. Looking out. You know, just checking on you. Right. How um, so how did the Rock him master killer, God, body had out of that process start? So, me and master killer for years, trying to collaborate, put something together ourselves, but our due to our schedules never really happened. So, um, M80 facilitated it and boy, you know, the facilities for us to be able to work. We did be able for Rock him's album and we chopped it with the R. Mm-hmm.

And I was like, you know, he broke down so much of his history of producing. And that he used to be a DJ, you know, he DJ, he produced records and all the records that he produced with him and Eric being out like, wow, so you know, I didn't know that. Mm-hmm. So, I said, what do you think about producing me and master killers out doing the whole thing? Because a lot of people don't know your producing side, you know, I'm saying, you know, this is, I'd be a great opportunity to show your talent as a producer, producing the whole project. So, he agreed and then the more records it was making, he just said, nah, you know what? He said, nah, I'm not just going to produce it, I'm in. It's going to be hours now. So, you know, he stamped it, you know, basically like, these are my killers, so it's amazing being stamped by the God. You know what I'm saying? He's leading the ship on his own way. Wow.

I look at this album like, you know, Rockham's chronic. You know, he produced all the thing, he's bustin' on some and letting the artist shine that's under his wing. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So, it's a pleasure. Being in that close of proximity, like you said, to Rockham, who is, you know, this hip hop thing doesn't exist and doesn't have the longevity it has without Rockham. He's like a mythical creature. Yeah. Like, being in such a close relationship, like, on my mama, like working with him, cracking. How does that, how does that mean to MC yourself, like to watch him still, you know, be able to kind of perfect his craft, just this, this many years into the, into the art form. Being in the studio and work with him, how does that affect you as a MC? Well, you know, I came from the era where you had idols, people you idolized. Right. And Rockham was one that I idolized. I let it be known, many, many of my verses.

You know, my idol, Rockham never jokes so why should I look, you know what I'm saying? Rockham, so seeing him going, I'm just happy that he's, you know, still going strong and enjoying himself now and enjoying, you know, the mic like he did back when he was young, you know, I'm saying he's back at his having fun and he lets me know that I can still do that too, you know, Rockham rolling country and all these other genres of music. There's no timeline on making music, you know, I'm saying R&B, soul and all of that, but with hip hop. It's a town we're trying to put a cap online. You know what I'm saying? Like you two old, you know, retired and all the rest of the type of stuff. And you know, it's just Rockham is showing you that's not real. You know what I'm saying? This is just like the mother of the genres. You do it into you just don't feel like doing it anymore. You can't. Right.

We talked about, you know, just seeing what somebody like Jay Z is doing right now 30 years after his first album and selling out stadiums. And Iris London, right? New York and LA. That is, you know, to me, because when I know when Jay first put a reason without out, I don't think anybody that heard it. So a 30 years label was looking 30 years down the line and would then say this could be played in the stadium. Right. But now, you know, legacy acts like Jay, like Kanye and now starting to show that with this genre with this type of music, we can sell out stadiums around the world. Which shouldn't be far off. That's because it is probably the most impactful and influential genre around the globe. Yes it is. But just to see it from guys that have been, you know, again, Jay's 30 year anniversary for his first album. Right. To be doing that now. To have, you know, rock him and corrupt.

And, you know, master killer putting out new music. It's, to me, it's starting to set a tone of let's do away with that theory that rap can't age gracefully in that after certain time. We have to kind of fade away and disappear like we can still do this to a high level. We can still sell out stadiums, you know, we can still inspire the next generation that there is a certain art form and skillset that we should always keep attached to hip hop not saying y'all can't develop these new branches and have fun. And make your own, you know, blaze your own trail. But the foundation has to remain of hip hop and has to, you know, show the next generation. Like, think about 30 years from now where your music is going to live. Right. Right. But you know, it's called making history. And that's one thing hip hop has been doing since the beginning of hip hop is showing adversity. And, you know what I'm saying?

Like just over like breaking the odds. The odds has always been against hip hop in general. And now it's big and country and western, big and rocking roles. The biggest form of music is hip hop. It's in everything, you know what I'm saying? Where you will put rock and roll in the hip hop nowadays. They're putting hip hop into there will walk, you know, it's hip hop and everything. So it's like, you know, Jay and Kanye, you know what I'm saying? And then showing the same thing like rock him, you know, there is no timeline on this. Right. You know what I'm saying? Hip hop is like artists, hip hop artists is like fine wine. You know, it gets better with time and they're showing that where before, you know, the artists would stop. Yeah. You know, you grow up and you get into other things and you know, you look at hip hop like a youthful support. It starts with the actual artist.

So you know, this whole thing about retiring, you know, that's because that's what we've been seeing. Right. Since the beginning of time, you know, you wrap up a certain amount of time, you grow up. And now it's like, you know, that's like, that's for the youth. Yeah. It's a youthful sport. So, you know, you get older, you got children, you got responsibilities, you got these things. And you wasn't getting that pie. And where now you get that pie and you can feed your family for the rest of your life through hip hop. Now it's a career. Right. Before it was a hobby, fun and then it went from there to you can make some cheese. And then from there, it came to it's a career. Right. And that's where it's at now. You know, it's actually real career that you can live through for the rest of your life until, you know, whoop op. So, you know what I'm saying is it's just saying it's right to change is you got to get the split. You know, you know, you get the split.

You don't want to be that's the problem with back in the days they splits wasn't right. You know what I'm saying? That's why they quit like man, first of all, I got to pay these bills. Right. Kids. These cheese they they ain't know about the splits. Really like that. So, you know, but yeah, you got to get your splits right. You got to keep going, you know, we learned from you too and rolling stones. George Aaron Smith, you know what I'm saying? They make more money, touring and merchandising and having good management that gets them all these endorsements and stuff. Then the actual record label makes that they sell diamond. They go and diamond when she's over 100 million bucks. And these guys off of touring is making more money than actual record label. Rock and roll and everything. She showed you, you know, it's like Mick Jagger said, man, this is all rock and roll. Even hip hop is it's rock and roll man. It's about making a hit single and when you tore off that single, make a hit album, you tore off that album.

The record label was coming to you. Hey, it's time for a new album. Yeah, man, I'm scheduled to tour for the next four years. You know what I'm saying? I can't stop. I'll let you know when we ready to work. You know what I'm saying? Because I'm not stopping. I'm getting like what? 2.5 million a show. Touring for six months out the year. Two months off and then back touring again. Jesus, marching dice through that and getting all this cheese. They want you to do another record because they went through. Like, negative, 100 million, I made that damn there. One month. Two months out of 100 million coming in. It was marching, dieting and touring and starting with the splits kids. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? Fuck your splits, man. I can give a fuck about the splits now. You want fuck your splits. Just give me this little piece. You want to give me cool. That's why I'm making another album for another 10 years. You know what I'm saying?

You want to go on this motherfucker row. You got all that shit. That shit only goes so far. I'm making a hundred million and two months. You understand me? But we need that new album. Fixed the split. I'm outta here. I'm just gonna go on this motherfucker row. That makes for the album. Fixed the splits. Right. Right. Oh. No, what we have now? More football is back. Yes, sir. That's a great thing. Yeah. That's like one of the worst problems coming out to the California and going shooting in the jungle. Exactly. Exactly. What you doing? Why would you do that? Jesus Christ. That was us. We thought we was chilling like New York want love us. Yeah. But this shit because this is New York hook. New York type of lyrics real lyricism. We're going to be going to be a mirror. Yeah. You're going to be going to be a mirror. Yeah. Yeah. You're going to be going love. Yeah. You're going to be going love. You're going to be going really love us. Because I'm really busing on here. Yeah. And that's what happened. They really started busing on me. Whoa. Damn. That's not why I'm. That's not what it was. That's what it was. Fuck up out of here. Yeah. God damn it man. Oh man. That's what we were home in that build and start falling. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That was all. I mean, we was hard. No. You know, we wasn't that hard. Okay.

Yeah. Just New York and he got this shoot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We wasn't that. You know, I'm saying like no. You know. But, you know, we got home. We just upset. Just fuck it. You know what? All right. We just did what we did. Now, it now be it from obviously, you know, born and and Philly. And being there until six years old. Like, how did you feel in that moment of the whole, you know, quote unquote, east coast west coast, and you feel torn like, I mean, I'm from the east coast. I'm from Philly. But these are my, this is my family. These are my people. This is where I'm eating with these are my guys. Like, how did you feel in that moment going through all of that? Just that way. Tor. Well, no, no, I wasn't torn at all. You know, you know, really to me, there is no east coast west coast. Yeah. The media pumped them up. Right. So, yeah, I'm like, I ain't tripping off of none of that shit.

But you got, I got to ride it with the, ride out with the homies. Mm-hmm. Regardless. So, you know, that was more or less what it was. But I really wasn't conflicted. Mm-hmm. It was like, you know, it is what it is. Mm-hmm. And I was more a part of it. Ain't where you from is where you at. Mm-hmm. I was up, I brought up that way, you know, saying this is where you at. This is where I'm at. So, this is where I'm right. Mm-hmm. This is where I eat. This is the family and whoop. Mm-hmm. I called a filly like, you mad at me? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's funny to bring up the filly thing. I've argued with young guru because we always have our top five filly rap debate. Mm-hmm. Because guru is from Delaware, which is, you know, close to city as filly. So he has a, you know, a lot of love and respect for filly. I always put you in that top five and then he always makes the case.

The corrupt is an LA rapper. Who is your top five filly rappers? My top five? Yeah. I'm old school. So, you know, schooly day. Mm-hmm. It's key to the game. You know, I'm saying, of course, beans, you know, beans is sick. Yeah. You got to go back to the little army that was with Swiss. Cassidy Cassidy. Cassidy Cassidy. And of course, you know, the thought. I mean, that's without saying. Yeah. But you know, also, you know, I can't lie. There's a mixture here because Malik B was so stupid. And then there's Meeke. So, you know what I'm saying is, it's just, then it was dice wrong.

Oh, come on. Yeah. Thanks for all. So many. And what about filly that produces like, because filly is just known. Like, once you hear rappers from filly, you almost incline like, I let me hear what you say. Because it's just a certain, a certain thing, I think, filly rappers have to go through and live by in order to break through and to be recognized. Like, what is it about filly particular that MCs and rappers just seem to always have a certain like, respectful bars? Well, you know, we filly, and of course, the act Nicholas Wharton, you know, I'm saying. The thing about filly is the swag of it all, you know, the slickness of the lyrics, the connections, the words, the way we say it, you know, it's just real slick and real, real slide. You know, that was the whole thing about filly and made us different. Because we would, the way we say things just totally different. You know what I'm saying, where, you know, New York has its own style. Jersey has its own style. At least I was slick, you know, I'm saying it was real playful with these words and connecting

them in our style of delivering, um, our rhymes, which made us totally different. And which made me stand out so much in the West because the way I word, word played it, you know, the style I got from rock him by using these certain kind of words and slickness and that combining words that you wouldn't really hear, but also, you know, that with the filly style is all what made me. So you know, I'm saying Philly just has this talent about him. You can hear it in the R&B lane, the soul lane all around here from, you know, I'm saying a flow of tree, you can hear it in Jill, you can hear it in the Philadelphia sound. You know what I'm saying, Patty, you can hear it in all the genres of music coming from Philly, there's a certain wham. Certain soul to it. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Dad, give me your, now hop always, you know, when we start talking about music and West Coast produces, he always tell me about the story of being in the studio with Quick and he said,

DJ Quick is the only person I ever seen in the studio touch every knob on the board. Who are your most, I guess, underrated producers out of the West Coast? Underrated producers. You feel like don't get to just do it, don't get to. I mean, DJ Poo put a lot of work in. Yeah. Nice Q, all that, you know what I'm saying? And like, shit, Africa, I mean, Africa is long. From ICT from that first album, that, you know, it's a lot of producers, you know, even Dr. Dre before he got started. You know, Sam, I'm a record crew and I've just figured out, I mean, I found all the underground records he did before, like, Killa Dayton, I didn't know he had a little part of that, you know, and just a whole bunch of underground producers. And myself, you know what I'm saying?

Because back then, it started fading out from the DJ. Right. And then it started getting into a little producers and then it just all wrapped now. All the artists now. So, you know, and that's where producers start putting their tags on there and that's where really kind of helped out producers. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Or depends on where you got the tag from. Who said your name? They want their split. Yeah. Yeah, I mean. Yeah. So, and the problem with the producers and what you just said, got to do a split. Right. So, but I'm sure after all the producers out there, you know, from analog to digital, you know, I mean, I like them both. One of the producers, we was told my off mic that I feel like doesn't get, obviously, West Coast legend, Battlecat. Yeah. I don't, you know, when we start talking about West Coast producers, you know, those that know, no, obviously, Battlecat is a legend.

But I feel like he doesn't get talked about enough when it's like, you know, what he's done over the years, you know, is incredible. And he doesn't, to me, get the, just get thrown in the conversations enough. Yeah. Obviously, classic records, you know, he's, he's a big part of the sound on West. I just don't feel like he's one of the guys that, you know, you talk about quick to the, yeah, I don't feel like quick gets talked about nearly as enough as he needs to be. I look at it like, like all of us, we still playing the game. We ain't got time to be talking about the highlights. Right. Why we still trying to win the game. Still playing. We still understand. So, I don't be looking at the highlights. I'm still trying to make highlights. Right. Right. That's one reason. Now, on another note, you know, obviously, with everything that recently happened, how did you feel on a personal note with everything about, you know, the whole two-pack trial and,

you know, years later, somebody, you know, obviously being found guilty and convicted in that case. Like, me and Roy, we talked about it. And the tone seems to be, you know, the actual person, the trigger man, you know, allegedly died years ago. So, nobody's like, but now that somebody is finally being held accountable for that entire thing, like somebody that, obviously, both of you, I had a personal relationship with two-pack. How do y'all feel about that whole thing? No, I really don't. They ain't going to bring the army back. Right. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, it gets everybody, you know, everybody got in the pain, everybody getting mad about this and that and that. I just leave it alone, you know, I know where we stood at with you. You know, we met some, do everything and, you know, I just hope it's not. Yeah, you were, you know, hope it's family.

I mean, two-pack family, I hope they found some clothes you're in the house. Some piece of that, yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. But, you know, me personally, I really didn't pay any attention. We got so much attention for the wrong reason. Yeah. So, it's just this really irrelevant, you know, saying it's just the way they put it out there wasn't really for the justice of it. It was more for the television show. The content, yeah. The content, yeah. That's what it was all just. Same thing with the dirt track. Mm-hmm. It's more outside, the inside and it's right now, it's outside. Right. To get the content, who's that dude, travel over to something? Yeah. Yeah, security, everything. You can walk in a wheelchair. Mm-hmm. I did see a clip on YouTube short to him talk. It was on the first day I had one security. Second day I had two security. Third day I had three security. Yeah. You should also fuck shit. That's why. You should probably stay home. Yeah, you don't need to be out there.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Let's see how you know. Yeah, that's, I mean, as a two-pack fan, I felt like it was a circus in Frithi-Atrix. Like I didn't think there was any real justice that was happening in that whole thing. I think it was for a prosecutor to try to bump up their position. I thought it was playing. I thought it was playing though. Because everything happened around September 7th to the 13th. I said circus because that guy has been running around for seven years on microphone talking about this shit. Now you decide to do it. It's for content. It's a circus. Yeah, I'm just definitely. You know, and also there's no statue limitations on murder. Yeah. So they're going to come and get you. They're coming to get you. They're going to come and get you, man. Y'all whity for it. Right. Yeah. They ain't put that on television. Yeah. You see what I'm saying? So you know, it's like, you know, it just turns you to a circus, man.

You know, I mean, the bottom line is, I just hope the family. The family. Yeah. That's a good one. Hopefully the family finds some peace in that. And you know, yeah, because you can see it really hurt the outlaws a lot too. Yeah. You know, and I'm saying that Yaki's gone. Fatal. Fatal. And Napoleon's gone. Yeah. I mean, not Napoleon, but Noble. Yeah. Obu's gone. You know, I mean, so Edie and Napoleon and Castro. Castro. You know, I'm saying that was all they had. Yeah. You know, I'm saying they lost the father figure and best friend. Yeah. So you know, I hope all of them got found some peace in it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Same. All right. DPG Wu Tang, the God body LP, Rock him, corrupt master killer. Again, man, I want to thank you all for everything that you're all giving us. Thank you throughout the years. Thank you for having me. Yeah.

I added to this dog pound snoop. I mean, you know, again, y'all were the guys that took us to the West Coast first before we ever physically went there just listening to y'all watching the videos. Y'all showed us that the other side of the country like they they got something to say. And you know, we're similar in a lot of ways. Right. Y'all weather is always better than I was. As far as, you know, just the culture and just the hood and everything like that. Y'all were the first guys to show us that, you know, the LA, the West Coast that, you know, Y'all was over there doing y'all thing. And I want to thank y'all personally for everything y'all giving me in my childhood through hip hop, through music. And it's great to see y'all great to have y'all in there. Great to see y'all still doing y'all thing. I have to bring dads to the West Coast. We just, yeah, we brought it. Yeah. It's like a rough coming. I looked up. I was like, you know, people thought we was feuding because you know, he over at death throwing, I'm over here doing, you know, all that.

Put all that to bed. Put all that to bed, you know, that deep, still here. Yeah, you know, we twirling, you know, getting the stage and, you know, giving y'all 30 years, we're for good music, you know, and an hour or two. Right. Yeah. Let's stop it right now. We just chilling in, you know, you never know, you know, I'm saying we might get back on that stage, might get back in the studio, you know, I'm saying dad's is always cooking. Yeah. That's one thing. I'm dropping out. I'm just every two months. Oh, my mom, I'm a little independent, though, you're not saying pressing it up. And I'm saying, taking it back to the essence of pressing my own records up, you know, I'm saying, and going directly to the consumer. And I'm saying, and because the DSP, we're making the money off of that. It's a sin. Yeah. You're saying 10 being streams, you know, they got 1594. I'm sorry. Everybody takes splits out. Yeah, that's the word of the day.

Yeah. Split. That's the street word. It's not going to work in the college. You didn't understand that. You just did it. Peter rejected it. Yeah. I swear I went to Wendy's and I talked to a computer to order my food. I said, first thing I said to myself, oh, everybody fired. Ain't no more job. Everybody's fine. And they got the order right. Yeah. Yeah. Yo, that's the dog pal. That's diligent corrupt. Thank God, man. We love y'all. I'm that nigga. He's just judging peace. Hey, they got the order right. No worry about.
