4:24I want to encourage other independent artists to try this. Us artists need to ask our friends, listeners, family, etc. to ingest music in this new way. Using a site like V for V music.com. That's right. You knew I was going to say it. This is the start to actually supporting artists and the devs who make these apps that actually care about supporting the music and the music artists. It's a big deal. It's like a circle. And let me describe it like this. In any order, the circle doesn't have to be, I'm not putting these things in order. The first is the best already. It's like this. Artists provide value to listeners. Listeners provide value to the artist. And then that artist also provides value to the devs and it's all like a circle.

5:28So in any order, you know, mix it up anyway you want. Artists sending value to other artists. We can do that. Devs to artists. Artists to devs. When I say devs, I mean the developers. Like for V for V music.com. Or for any kind of whatever app or thing you use in this ecosystem. To make your music and get it online in this way, you pretty much want to include them in your value split. So that that can kind of pass on value in that way. And so that's kind of all my spiel there with that. Yeah, artists, listeners, devs. That's the ecosystem. We are building. And onto our second track, I want to play. So yeah that's my spiel kind of to go with the I don't know I just want people out there who's listening Just to think about that you know how do you ingest music

9:52And are you thinking about what you're supporting when you ingest it We only have so much time and so easy to get sucked into all different things So you know we really have to be purposeful with the things we do ingest And it's you know the legacy ways when I say legacy I kind of mean Spotify and Apple and things like that While there's nothing wrong inherently with using that stuff And I think there's going to be times we are all using it It's just supporting other artists that because it's so saturated So many artists out there like listen to our music all this stuff And via for value music is just if you want to hear good music you can you can get into v4vmusic.com And there's all sorts of other apps so if it's not like the app for you like on our website doorpoverse.com We have a music player is it that's another basically an app on top of the whole system

10:54There's an app called stable craft so if you like the player on our website If you go to stable craft that one has like a lot more music on it But yeah it's just a beautiful way to spend your time and listen to real music and real artists V4vmusic.com has playlists and things like that I'm working on I have a few playlists I'm working on putting together So if you guys I don't know what to listen to And there's cool things like genre you can actually like look at genres if you want a specific genre of music Things like that these things are being built and they're getting really they're getting pretty good now So about three years ago when this was starting maybe going on four three or four These sites for music playing we didn't have them So everyone was super excited but we didn't have the tools to make it enjoyable for the listener And that's like I was saying what we need earlier we need you know we need artists telling other artists And telling their friends and family which are listeners and you know because artists can be listeners

18:30Day's gone by. By us, the Dwarfals and that video is really awesome. It goes through if you ever get around to watching it. All the kids in it are pretty much us when we're little and it focuses in a lot on my grandpa Gary who passed in 2016 and I think that was around when we made the track which it would make sense on why that was like that but it was really just yeah and then at the end of the track too it just focused on all sorts of things. My parents had beautiful picture of my parents in that video all sorts of other things like that. Yeah, that's one of my favorite more. It was kind of right before we went like more pop. It was like, I mean that was still like a rock I guess. So I don't know. I dropped pop rock kind of thing but it had a little bit more of an edge to it whereas some of the stuff after that when we went to Nashville got even more like poppy I guess.

19:30So that one still had a little bit more of a rock edge to it. In my opinion that's all subjective a bit but yeah so that was Day's gone by and you can find that in the valley verse. So what is up in diverse what's making them out in the verse? Well, let's see. I was on Mutton Meat and Music. If you don't know what that is it's a music podcast. So Oystein the host he picks out tracks from the valley verse from you know music the way we're hosting it and he has a podcast weekly podcast. He does live every Friday's and he plays value for value tracks and you know tries to support those artists by you know getting people to hear their music. I'll have a link to that show in the show notes if you want to check that out. He had a good conversation. I couldn't make it back to the studio on time because you record live and I wanted to try to get down the show live.

20:31So I was on the phone through my Bluetooth earbud you know while I was like on my lunch break or whatever and there's doing stuff so you can hear stuff in the background and wasn't ideally I usually I really liked my sound to be pretty. You know if the sound isn't good sometimes it gets a little hard to listen to so we want to make it as easy to listen to as possible. So that was but that was fun. There really a good conversation and played some songs. It was fun. I was also on a podcast that I've just been starting to see around. I've seen other people like the great Chad F. The best producer in the universe. And also I think it was Delorean I think was on it of homegrown hits that is also a music podcast and the podcast is called I think it's called roles McGyver and I could be wrong. I'll leave when that comes out I'll blast it everywhere but we had a conversation and

21:32went a lot more in depth with music stuff. He had a whole bunch of roles radio. Thank you Chad in the trollroom ROLZ radio and it's a podcast and he's a musician and he had a lot of good questions lined up and we had a great conversation. That'll be out sometime soon probably in a few days. Another fun thing that we've been up to is we've been recording some with my neighbor. My neighbor Grace she was we were talking you know we're always like mowing the yard or whatever goes say hi and whatever and she we've become pretty good friends with her and her husband and she was like hey I wrote some songs. Either day I'm not really a songwriter or a singer or anything like that and but I wrote some songs maybe I could show them to you or you know I've been trying to figure out record and all this stuff and I was like well come on by you know come on by to the studio. And so she did and she recorded her song okay she's has no experience like singing professionally

22:39or anything never really was you know work on her writing her songs or anything. She's a little bit younger than me but my her her song was really good. I really liked the songwriting and and her and she's singing on it too and so and her she's got a very very pleasant voice very very nice voice and with some work she could really you can kind of tell like she hasn't sang like on recording before and she did good and I just loved it it was pure organic and heartfelt and it sounded really good. I can't wait to show you guys that. I told her my only condition was that I wanted to be able to put it in the value verse to obviously make her a wallet, tattoo her song and that was my only condition and she was all for it and I've been telling her about the value verse and why and why to host music in this way and the whole rant that I did earlier basically but yeah that's so that's what's up in the verse let's see what else is up in the verse. But yeah we played big awesome you know if you've been listening to Dwarf of Verse for any time you'll know that there's some episodes we just focus in on completely other different artists hosting music in this way and we love to do that but I'm still thinking like it might be fun to do a show where it's just well the Dwarf of Verse is somewhere where it's very if you want to know because you're curious about the ins and outs and the workings of all everything Dwarf related because it's you know interesting to you and it's something different to listen to that's well that's why you're here. But something more for the artists that are just excited when people like other shows like Homegrown Hits and and Mutton Mead and Music when people play their music that's I still I still have the desire to do that I just haven't I haven't landed on a name for the show because I would want to in a different feed haven't landed on a name that

24:47is that I'm ready to just like start going and the name almost isn't super important but it is important at the same time like like him like if it need if we need another show like I could just pick any name start going but I really want to name you know if it's something I'm going to put time and energy into I want to like the name so if you got any ideas let me know. 26:51ask people to do you'll never say five dollars a month something like that you always leave it completely open yes can you explain that so the value value is kind of the is almost like risk you know everyone assesses their own risk you know for one parachute jumping is low risk I won't do it we get a fly helicopters value is kind of the same way I can't look at as someone and say well you know whatever you're getting out of podcast index dot org is worth five dollars to you because that may be five dollars may be much better spent for that person on something that they value much higher so or I'm saying is take a look what kind of value or are you getting from this and that's going to be so vastly different for a developer to a hosting person to someone just likes listen to podcast to someone who just likes to help people out I mean this people like that too I'm sure some of them are supporting us as well if you just ask people to put the value on it that they want you're always pleasantly surprised and I remember this with

27:56a no agenda show and the way we would talk about it then is okay we talk for two hours you could go to the movies and you could sit in a dark room with a friend to take a date have a drink some popcorn could be fifty bucks now you just spent two hours with us was that worth fifty and it turns out many will say no you're about a five dollar for two hour kind of experience but that's that's okay that's what you know and that maybe and by the way that five dollars may be a lot for that person and some people say man I was five hundred for me I don't know maybe they're sitting on a gold mine I don't know but when you do that it's a much much better transparent process and no one ever feels diminished I keep going back to and I was so disappointed when iTunes started to sell music and everything was valued at ninety nine cents and one of my favorite songs I think it's the best love song is I want to hold your hand by the Beatles and when you when I look at that it's like this is only ninety nine cents you know I think of you know Sir George Martin who produced it I know I can hear the room that it was done in I can hear

29:01you know Paul and John and just and I like that's that's worth so much more to me and if you'd only ask me or said what do you think it's worth I would have given you so much more so I feel short change because I couldn't give you the value that I thought it was and you know since they were apples a public company they need to be able to project their revenues and their and their cost but we don't have any of that we just want to keep going from one day to the next and for the last 13 years is how I live my life my rent was determined by the value that people got from my work and if the value was good then I could pay rent and and have an extra coffee and it's just it keeps you on your toes it keeps you doing your best work and I feel it makes everybody happy about their contribution all sides of the equation I remember when I've been listening I listened to no Jennifer minimum I think that's enough I thought the points that he was making in there that was Adam Curry and Dave Jones from the podcasting 2.0 boardroom and I

33:23thing or whatever if the notifications work I mean if they're supposed to work they don't work at least in all the apps I've used um whisp I can't even get the notification like when you go into settings and notifications and turn them on it stays grayed out like it's impossible to make it and I've Googled things and tried different things primal does let you turn it on so what I'm talking about here are all these different um social like all these different apps that run on the Noster backend and and um I'm very close to trying to beg my family and friends to get it and try it out and see if they like it because I'm starting to like it more and I think if you use it for certain purposes it could be handy um and I like it for those reasons um as far as the whole uh and I'm not I'm not I'm not like dived in and understanding how all of it works I'm just kind of giving you my experience and why I've um kind of shot shot a way for it for a while and then as apps are starting

34:25to get like actually working better I'm like you know this is actually a little bit kind of nice like um but it would be cool if I had like my people over there you know they uh and it'd be so on anyway I'm kind of like defending it a little bit um because I think it can be used with podcasting like I'm using it right now with the live stream and for example if I had all my family make a Noster they could just be on the live stream in an app that and I've used this app I'm using show show right now working great uh shout out to I think it's rod I hope I got that right who makes this app and it all runs on this thing called Noster and so anyone can kind of make stuff to run on this you know it's supposed to be censorship resistant or since you know you can't be censored it's supposed to be like an open kind of protocol thing that isn't just controlled by a company or a corporation or you know that kind of thing so it's with that in mind I think it's pretty cool do we need it in podcasting and do we like absolutely need it in

1:01:31And so there was a bunch of stuff on it that wasn't right. And like the fretboard was uneven on the sides. And the peg holes were ginormous. So the pegs kept falling out. All sorts of things. So it sounded amazing, but it was just like needed some like expert tea stuff that like lives. So I had it rebuilt and it was, yeah, it's lovely. I love playing it now. Yeah. Gotcha. I have one that's the whole band that we played for and we can tease them. Because I don't know. I started getting a hold of him to try to see if he'd let me put his music on in the Valiverse.
