Hello and welcome to One-A-Grovecast. This episode begins my journey in reviewing and discussing each and every little house episode in order. I am so excited to bring you with me on this journey as we dive into every facet of our favorite TV show. My email is Mark and me are k at one-A-Grovecast.com. Now let's get on with the show.

Hello! This is Brigitte and I'm here with Mark and you are listening to One-A-Grovecast. Very nice. How are you doing, Brigitte? How are you doing tonight? I'm well, Mark. Thank you. How are you? I'm doing well. Thank you so much for inviting me on your show. Oh, any times. Good to have you here. Brigitte bought the show for a tenth of a Bitcoin. Here I go. Enjoy it. Enjoy all the hate mail. That's ample, Mrs. Incles. Yeah. You know, something like that. I got an email once where somebody was saying about the clips that I play, all of them and I just... But they hate me. They're all funny. But they claim that I was playing AI-generated clips.

And I'm like, why would I bother? What are you talking about? That's a lot more work than it needs to be. Did you say watermelon? Maybe I can create a voice print of all of them and just do that. That's an idea. That's actually my bad idea. I tried to do this, a company called 11 Labs that can clone a voice. And I tried to do it with Michael Landon. But I mean, it sounded okay. This is also like three years ago. So the technology really wasn't there. But maybe I'll subscribe again and try it. It's not the easiest thing in the world to do though. But yeah, that's my... I did successfully clone my own voice using 11 Labs and I was like, wow, that's kind of crazy. I don't know. The AI stuff really scares me. It's never frees to. But now it's beginning to freak me out a little bit.

And from a technical standpoint, I'm kind of learning about large language models and learning how to build them. And it is kind of scary because you're kind of developing the basis of a brain in a lot of ways. Like there's... Well, there are parts that you develop that are... The way it's set up is so strange. And it's not that hard to do them. So we'll see. Well, that's what scares me. It doesn't learn and then can it eventually become sentient? I don't believe that things are actually learning. But they are acquiring information. And then the biggest issue that I think all of this runs into is the fact that you'll

hear a lot of people call them LLMs, but they're large language models. They cannot fact check themselves. And when they do, sometimes they start breaking down. And then knowledge gets lost. It's kind of like how many ours are in the word raspberry. And all of the AIs were insistent that there were two when there's three. There's three, yeah. And strawberry as well, it had an issue with. But it just couldn't do it. I can't explain it. So... Wow, that's what it took it down. Yeah, that's one... Yeah, the word strawberry took it down. It's like, sorry. Yeah. What happened to me? It's scared after all. Right, right. I mean, that's the thing. You know, this is the AI that, you know, AI turns my lights on, turns my lights off, and it can barely do it. So I don't know. I'm not too afraid. But I think our kids will be afraid.

They should be. Or maybe their kids. It's definitely moving fast. Yeah, it's technology. I like it. I'm using as a tool a lot in the way of... I did explain this to people. I'm using Little House in the Big Woods as a metaphor because at the end, have you read that book? I didn't know it actually. If you ever board, you can just probably blast there in an hour and a half or something. But the end is where the rail charles angles talks people into using this machine that would basically mill the grain. And it would use machinery. And they were so afraid of it because it's like modern technology. They're like, this is what's going to replace farmers. And he was so progressive. He's like, no, no, no, no. This we're going to use this as a tool. And it's going to allow us as farmers to do more. And it was, it's a really interesting thing. So I kind of look at AI as kind of like that.

It's a tool to allow us to do more. But it may replace menial tasks. You know, and as long as it's being used for good, and not evil, it should be okay. I don't know. I think there's, you know, you get into that discussion as well. What does that mean, good and evil? You know, like Hitler, I'm sure, thought he was doing the right thing. You know, people like Mark is on the side of Hitler. But well, no, there's somebody who said we all think we're the good guys, right? Yeah, we think we're like Darth Vader. You know, is a fictional character, of course. But you know, he thought he was doing the right thing. Spoiler, he was. Yeah, he was just misunderstood. Yeah. So, yeah, so what episode are we talking about tonight? Did you say tonight? No, I haven't said it yet. It's night. We're talking about season one, episode four, 100 mile walk. It was reported on September 25th, 1974.

So this is technically episode three, but it gets count. Oh, we now count the pilot. I don't count the pilot. Oh, okay. So if you don't count the pilot, episode three, no, that's true. I usually count the pilot as episode one. And I go to there. So with that, I, so I'm right now redoing all of the one of Grove casts. It's like a one of Grove cast two point in order. So that's why I'm just being a stickler about it. So this will be like the third episode. But I'm not covering the pilot because I just covered the pilot not that long ago. And I love the pilot. I think the pilot's a great movie, but I don't know. I don't know, but they made a watch it again right now. It's pretty long and it's, it was really so long. Yeah. It is. It's so cinematic. I had a little bit of a different feel than the series does. Yeah, they, I mean, they kept some of the details, but yeah, like for the most part, they really lost it. I mean, they really lost that film look.

And even though we do get moments, I've been pointing out that season one is so heavily lit. And you really lose that in season, you know, after season one, where I think they're just getting more artistic with the lighting. And then by the time you get the six, they don't give a crap anymore. Yeah, they were just kind of phonetic. And that's why I think a lot of people don't love the later seasons. Me being one of them, unfortunately. Really? And does it kind of collapse for you? Oh, I think when like, like the English children 2.0 come in, you know, like the Sandra, yeah, Nancy and the Carter's, I, you know, they're just trying to recreate the magic. I think at that point, and it just wasn't happening for me. And I guess there's some, there's some episodes that were good, but it just never was the same for me. It's Albert. Mom, everybody loves me. No, not Albert. And I really freak out if I'm like, Albert, get him out of here. Albert was one of those like rare instances where they added a new character to

an already established show and it made it work so well. I thought, yeah, I agree. It's somehow accepted it, you know, and we all did. Yeah, we just went along with it. It's a good character. Speaking of which, what did you, did you happen to see the trailer for the new Little House in a hurry? Oh, my goodness. Yes. Really good, right? Oh, yeah, I can't wait. So I'm really seeing like a little thing, probably, I don't know, by Monday, I guess, where, because I reviewed an episode the other day. And I just said, yeah, let's watch it together and get, you know, this kind of discussion going on. It's like a 10 minute little overview. But yeah, I mean, I have my opinions that were there, kind of loud and proud about it. And, you know, I've been lucky enough to kind of have contact with Netflix right now. And hopefully they'll be, they'll give me a screener access to it.

Take it to the end and talk about it. Would you be fine? Yeah, it would be nice of them. But everything they told me about just didn't really look that way. So I'll say you're like real quick, what I did like and what I didn't like. And I'll try to summarize in 30 seconds. But I did like, well, I'll start with why I didn't like why I didn't like is them trying to recreate Charles, the Michael London Charles, like the stature and the look and the fiddle. I just didn't, I didn't like it. It opens up and it's like on the left, you have Laura and on the right, you have Mary. And when they say, when they show them for the first time sitting together, you refer to them as Mary and Laura. So I'm like, who am I looking at? You know, I think they look too much alike. They're also much older than Laura was. Mary was just like as Taylor's mom in the first, in the clip that I saw.

Yeah. And those are things I didn't like. I'm sure that the actors and actresses are wonderful. And I thought the music was, it was good, but I don't know if there's going to be any heart in it. I mean, it's coming to the table with a lot. But what I did like about it is the opposite of what I was told. And what I was told is that they were not going to stick to complete family friendly. And what I think this is going to be is family friendly. They're still editing it, which makes me think one day it's family friendly. The next day we're leaving in the blood. So I'm just not sure. Hmm. But it wasn't me. I didn't see Carrie. Did you? No, no, Carrie. No, Carrie in the pilot as far as I met. Yeah. That's very strange because she was a real character. And if they're going back, Jack is in there. Well, as he should be. But you know, and it is, it looks like a bulldog, but I'm just not 100% sure. I think we're so, yeah, I think they're just these characters are just so ingrained in

our minds as the characters from the original show is going to really hard to accept anything else. I mean, the guy is playing Charles handsome guy. He looks the part. He looks all right. But if you type, and I mentioned this before, if you go to Google images right now and just type in Charles angles. The first picture to show is Michael Landon before the actual Charles angles. Right. So. And that's not going to like, you know, that's not going to change, I think. And we'll see. We'll see where it all goes. Yeah, I guess it has to give it a chance. Yeah, I guess. I didn't like it. I'm like, it's anything you didn't like about it. The clip that I saw. I just couldn't, I couldn't take it. I just, I'm like, nope, this isn't a little house. Nope, that's not Paul. That's not very. And that's not why we're listening. Do we all love carries sometimes?

We have our issues, but I need our carry because that's part of the family. So let's find to kill me. And one of my biggest criticisms was, and maybe, you know, let's get into the episode. I'm going to throw what my criticism would be by example, where I don't believe that in 2026, they would be able to do certain things. So 100 mile walk. This is one of the first episodes I kind of remember watching ever as a kid. And I just thought it was really cool to stuck with me. And to one of them, they're several, but this is the one that I just thought, and I kept it as a joke in my back pocket. I'm like, you know, Charles England was walked 100 miles for work, you know, that type of thing. And so yeah, we open up Charles is checking on his wheat, which looks like it's in abundance.

Thank you, Lord. I'll show you. Don't jinx it. Don't jinx it. He just jinxed it. Jinxie jinxed it. Oh, yeah, yeah. So this is a beautiful cinema. It's just the all the wheat is just taking over the entire picture. So pretty. Yeah. That's like a Los Angeles lawn. So where did you get it? I don't know where the shot goes. It's pretty crazy. All right. So we're in the kitchen and we're just kind of, you know, discussing what's going to happen, you know, like counting our eggs before their hatch. Just now 100. And at all to yield about old 35 bushes to the anchor.

And right now we're selling for just around 75 cents a bushel. How much money is that? A bushel. Two and a waiter with it. I've got five six, no, two and 25. Is that right? I think so. Six hundred and twenty five dollars. So I do want to mention on. I'm going. Uh oh, I was just going to say didn't they weren't they just not able to read. Yeah, exactly. I'm like one episode ago. But now they're doing. Yeah, now they're adding well up into the four digits. Exactly. They're doing multiple cases and living in less than five seconds. Yeah. They're brilliant. They're geniuses. Aren't they them? The mantle is I just want to point out is how clean it is and we're starting to see some cinjmarks. But in the first episode when Charles Carly's Carolina in it is perfectly clean.

But over this episode to begin it just gets darker and darker. I guess that's pretty realistic. I mean they must have done it on purpose. I mean building the fires I guess over time, which makes the mantle darker and grosser. Yeah. Yeah. It's almost too wonderful to be true. Do you know what that will mean for us? No dresses for my girls to start with. Nice warm coat for you. So I mean it's sad because he's so happy. You know after the Kansas nonsense. You know, came to Walnut Grove. Nothing could stop this man. Everybody. You know, he's just like really, really happy. Yeah. Everything's coming up roses. Yeah. They're looking great. They're set. Yeah. And so that's about $52,000 in today's money. Wow. And is do you say that's like profit? I imagine.

Yeah. That's I mean it's a lot of money. I mean, all right. So playing devil's advocate. Is that supposed to like finance him for the year? You know. Well, yeah. I guess so because there's only one harvest a year, right? And then he works at the mill for a little extra. So you know, it's still it's still going to be tough, but it's money. It's a lot of money. So are these beautiful horses? Horses. Look at them, Mary. What is it? Hi. Are they pretty? You're careful. I guess you know you a little bit. Yes, it's beautiful horses that he went and got. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Did we just have that problem in the harvest of friends? Yeah. And harvest of friends, of course. You know, like he was getting the oxen oxen or oxen.

I think the plural. Yeah. Repossessed. Even though the guy came a little early, you know, still. He's. So that night, that night, we're five minutes in just to mention, you know, like five minutes into the episode. And we have a big store. And it's just kind of interesting. He's looking out the window. As though he can just sense something bad is about to happen. Sick great shots. This shot in general, I think the sicker time to bring it out. It's not. Another. Just a little rain we could use it. So this scene right now, you know, it's slow moving.

It's. There's really nothing happening. It's a. We're watching a man look on a window in his wife waking up. Do you think that Netflix is going to have the patience to create a scene that is allowed to breathe this much? 100% no because. No, because the viewers now, I think are just don't have that. They don't have the patience. We're expecting, you know, action, constant action and constant dialogue and. And they just have a lot of. Yeah, I just do a lot of like looks and a lot of tension and a lot of like time. And yeah, I don't think that's going to happen. Any amount of emotion that is on the faces of some of the characters during some of the time. I just don't believe they're going to allow it to. Go that route without. Like right here, it's like they would have to describe why Caroline is so upset and they would have to have a conversation.

Do you think something bad could happen? What can we do? You know, like we're going to lose all this money. You know, it's. I don't think they trust the. Do you or anymore? Like they have to have so much exposition in every scene of every show that they have to explain everything to everybody. But we're not stupid. We get it. You know, we can understand that something bad is happening without all the dialogue is in the scene. I think a lot of people enjoy being spoon fed. And one of the things I'm so happy about is that my son has become a film snob. And he appreciates being able to watch a movie with patience. And I. I feel as though even I don't have the patience anymore, but he he sits to like a 3.5 hour movie and it's no problem for him. And it's yeah, I just I'm really happy about that. You know, and we need more patience.

That's all. Does he like little house? Um, he said he's willing to watch the reboot with me. Has watched an episode or two. He's not big on. Now he's not big on it. Although I've tried to get him to watch an episode and then review it with me. He's like, what am I going to talk about? Yeah, I was like, what am I going to talk about? I'm like, I'm like, we'll talk about it. No. Then we'll find out his girlfriends are big little house fan and all of a sudden. Exactly. So you're shown out, kid. So yeah, Charles just continues to look out and um, they're just getting worried. Bring him in hands. Do some rain. Well, I'm done. So that feels so much we can't get Mr. Has a new Reaper in there. Just got a new McCormack Reaper. I tell you about it.

Yes. 30 times. I like the chat. Oh, he's scared. He's like, hope they won't be walking that again. Yeah, I hope they won't make me walk through a lake. So the storm is just getting crazier and crazier. And Charles is like, I have to go out there and find out what's up. Sorry. And he's hailed. That's a crazy storm. I don't, I never understand why he ran out because it started hailing. Like, are you going to catch the hail? Like, what is going to happen if you're in out there? I don't know. It's one of those things that's um, you just have to get out there and see what's happening. I guess. Yeah. Maybe to cry. I don't know. It's, but all of that money is just gone. He comes in in total. So to the skin. Got pretty cold out here, right?

So I didn't know that hail could destroy a crop. It makes sense, but. Yeah, I mean, of course, later on spoiler, we just try to salvage some of it. So it just makes it harder to process. So he goes. Yeah. Coffee's going to taste good. It is 11. Oh, like that. The coffee. It's about storms about over. And I'll be the first to admit in the moment of crisis, I tend to be more like the. Be like this a little bit and I've even reflected to this moment where sometimes bad things happen. And you have to like try your best to like just get through it.

You know, um, I don't know if that's healthy, but it's very healthy coping mechanism compared to like getting hysterical. Yeah, I'm not one to. Like I get hysterical. My husband keeps his head. He's very calm. So he's the one who's like that. The balance. We just got. So it took us three and a half minutes to get here from when the storm began. And I just don't believe that they would allow three and a half minutes to find out that the crop was destroyed. That's all. And I'm going to criticize it until my dying day. Um, we head over to the mill where we see somebody's actually using a push stick. Um, instead of using just their hands on the table saw. Hey, this is a screen. Like I said, I know everybody has from the same boat.

The handle don't play no favorites. It falls on every man the like. I ain't no one for 50 miles around is going to make a crop. But I want to do something about it. But there's not anything that I can do. So all the farmers got demolished, which is just a shame. Yeah, Charles comes in with the horses. Charlie. Charlie, I don't know if I've ever heard anyone call him Charlie. Yeah, I don't know. That was just this. I think this was just this episode because somebody laid around call centrally so. Yeah, the class of 56 maybe later on in this episode. Oh, really? Oh, yeah. Yeah, one of them. Yeah, one of them. Yeah, I think one of them does. Maybe Jack Peters. Jack. That's not quick. I can't ever make. So the team of horses one day. Get them back for next. I don't like that kind of deal. I don't need to do why.

Always dreamed of one on a team like this. The man can't keep what he can't pay for. What are you going to do? I'll be looking for work like everybody else. I have cash for winter. So nothing stops Charles. You know, he gets ready. He's going to walk. He's saying goodbye to the girls. Jack's bummed. Jack's like, you're going to be another Jack. Everything's going to be okay. This is funny how Jack just comes along no matter what. Oh, he's so cute. Hey, where's Carrie? What is it? The Netflix special. Yeah. He's busy that way. I'm sure. If Carrie was Italian, there would be a sauce stain on her dress. You've carried a kiss for me.

The name is Angle Neckrop. Yeah, the neckrop. The pants are always around my neck. Don't ask for a raise. All right. So here we get to see our first glimpse into Jack, who I just think is such a wild character. And Charles has limp been around and shoes falling apart. It's free. I've got to be going love that's all. All right. Got something. One more time can't hurt a peg. I'll be careful.

I think it's a Jodie Foster. Yeah, it does look like Jodie Foster before like taxi driver even. Yeah, like freaky fraud. Jodie Foster. Hold on. I'm just going to fact check this real quickly. I don't know who I'm right. I'm just guessing. Because I just used to be a really scary that movie and that kid looks like from that movie. What was his name in this? I think he was Lance Kerwin. Yeah, and he passed away just a couple of years ago. Yeah, I saw that. You know what I'll bring this to the oops. I'll bring this to the screen here. That's the same. Yeah, so let's take a look at his. So yeah, I think. What year was that movie? I think it was a movie. Oh my gosh, I want to say.

Early 80s late to the days. Oh, yeah, so I played Mark Betrie. Repetry. Wow, good. He's well known for James at 16. Oh, I don't that was little before. Yeah, I never I didn't see an episode actually. But he did like that thing that all kids do, right? It's. Yeah, I mean, while he was in shazam too. An emergency everybody was in emergency, even Melissa Gilbert. No, was she? Yeah, she was like very little like. I don't know, maybe two years before this. Or even the long order of 70s, like all the actors. That's what it is. It's like the love boat or something like that. Yeah, so I'm just like looking for anything that really stands out. But yeah, sadly, he passed away. I don't know what all the details were, but I won't have the scary face for you on there.

He told me to see the higher health. Never higher health. I could manage his farm as good as you. Yeah, oh, little jerk. Oh, about it. All right. So it's cute. They have like this little scrap match and the mom's like all happy. Seems like a good dad. Yeah. He starts walking and catches up to Charlie. Charles Engels. Jack Peters. And as they tied up with a string, with a string wore out, it was going to have to fly, I guess. Now we're ain't, that's what I was trying to catch up with you for. Yeah, mountain in the background. Mountain in Minnesota. Got a piece of raw idea. Watch your oldie for a while. Yeah, that's good.

Is it raw I'd like the duct tape of the 19th century? Yeah, I don't know. It's, you don't have to get your shoes done at a shoemaker. We have this cool shot where Caroline is at the in the fields and she's kind of looking at it observing. It's a cool shot. Again, I don't know if they would have the patience for this type of thing. I think Caroline looks great in this. Sometimes her wig looks a little bit weird, but I will say that I didn't know that she was wearing a wig the whole time throughout the series until I read her book. Yeah, she's wrote in her book that her hair was actually short. So you kind of can see her hair in the front kind of short. And maybe they like put a bun on the back or something. That's exactly it. Yeah. But she's kind of, you know, just got the, the wheels. Yeah, that way.

Let's see where it can be. It's out for a mile, maybe more. Whoops. Taste great. Smells great. A smell like this on the window, bring the bears out for a mile, maybe more. Hello. Hello. Here reminds me of what is the name, the Swiss chef on the Muffins. I don't know his name, as I know you mean. Jacob, is it all right? I share your fire. Sure enough. No. My name is Charles Angles. That's Jack Peters. Mr. Angles? Mr. Peters? How about some D? No. I was just being a little bit weird right here. I didn't understand until this moment. He's kind of staring at him. Maybe he's filling them out. Yeah. No, thank you. He's a big guy. Charles is kind of easy to trust. You don't know what this guy is up to.

Yeah. Thank you. I had food. I got plenty. Jacob's like the email that doesn't get sent to spam. And they're like, huh. So $50 million, huh? Left in my name? I was going to say my Amazon account was hacked yesterday. And somebody went on somehow gained access to my Amazon account and bought $2,000 worth of gift cards. Hey, guys. Ridiculous. Like 16 gift cards added up to about $2,000. And which I don't really understand why. I mean, as soon as you're buying this many gift cards, you know, Amazon like red flag and shuts the whole thing down, all of the echoes are like saying like, you know, read your email right now, that type of thing.

So, you know, Amazon took really good precautions to make sure that, you know, my, I was safe. But I was talking to them because it's like you have to call them and have this whole thing. And it makes no sense to me that the gift cards for Amazon in a place where you have to use them in Amazon. It's not like you can trade Amazon for something else. Like, wouldn't you buy like a Visa card that you can get off of Amazon? Not like an Amazon gift card that you that has to be tied to an account. So, what was I saying? I can't give you the details, but they've already transferred it to another Amazon account. And it's like so stupid. Like, obviously it's them. It was just kind of a weird one. But that being said, they already reversed it.

And my account seems to be back to normal. So, thank you. Thank you, password for sure. Yeah, I mean, I've changed the password, but I have that thing, like the two-factor author, author, author, and ticater. And it didn't get, like, there was nothing weird in my account. But everybody should look at what devices maybe are on Amazon because apparently that's a way that people can get in. Like, if you have an old iPhone and you just like go get in the drawer and maybe donate it one day, so I'm going to plug it in. And they have access to like a number of things. But that wasn't the case in mind situation. I don't know how they got it, actually, but they did. That's Jacob. Also knew that it's Johnson Riley. He does look like Johnson Riley in Boogie Knight. They're all scum like looking at each other.

What do you think, Jack? Yeah. Hungry, I don't know what you were. Because he is. Hungry. Come on. Join us. Just going to go to waste. Or you can figure out a way to put stew in your pocket. Why don't you just put it back in the container again then. That's right. Bridget's like, I'm not giving you the food. I'm going to save it for tomorrow. So you don't have food. Why wouldn't you, I mean, take us leave tobacco. No food. I don't know. He's from, he's that actor from, uh, to the hazard. Always. He's one of the sheriffs. He's, um, he's clean as hard. He's almost at the enus. Yeah.

I don't think he's asking the baby. Well, you know, that's crazy. I forgot about that show. I haven't seen that show in a very long time. I know. Let's see. Although John Schneider is pretty active. Posting stuff. He seems to be out there doing dukes of hazard type things. Got custom. So he's giving Charles some shoes. He's just so happened to have a pair of boots on his person. I would fit her for Charles's little petite feet. And make sure there's some lifts in there. I'm going to have something to coach. Look at that. Let me like they were made for me. Stalker. Yeah. You'll find that he's. I'm looking you. Yeah. So they move on to their camp. They get to the quarry where they are hiring.

So what is. What's the purpose of this? I think they're building a title. Is it a tunnel because they break. I guess they have to break every single rock. Yeah, I guess they have. They can't move that giant rock. Right. So I guess I have to break it up into smaller pieces. Yeah, I'm not totally sure what the purpose of all of this is. When I think of a quarry, I think of like you're. You're getting minerals out of the quarry. But this you're saying they're digging through. Oh, I just assumed so. Maybe because I was thinking of the other episode when Marga picked in the stomach and she had to go. She had to go be the powder monkey there. Powder monkey. This is going to be the sound of pretty much the rest of the episode. One Benson and Ruth Taylor. Best double jack team around here. They're drilling holes so we can dynamite that big slab into pieces small enough to handle.

And the teams haul it up to the railroad. Railroad holds it off to where stone mason's will use it for bridge peers and buildings. See, I'm going to become like the Brooklyn bridges or something like that. That was a heat he answered your question. Actually, Brooklyn bridge I think was already built by this time. So all right, so that does make sense. Watch. Man with a double jack. This guy's mustache is really hilarious. Right. He looks like a bigger version of Almanzo. Oh boy. Oh, I'm not holding the drill strong. That's it. Could you do this? It looks like you're really doing that. They're really. They're really. Yeah. Absolutely. It's crazy. Oh, good. Do you think you could do this? Do you have this type of aim? I do not. Yeah.

Absolutely not. Yeah. Do you have a miss? I have a miss. I'm not holding the drill. I'll have to pick his nose with his elbow. Oh, there he is. Quarring jokes. So let's go talk to the foreman. He's looking forward. Right. Roof. Swan. Sit down for a minute. Got no team. He wants to show that stuff. He's panting. Oh, there he is. Even you are bold. Right. They're two. Thank you. I was talking about the foreman's pants. Yeah, they're so high up. Yeah. Yeah. So we're going to test the first one. So we're going to test Charles and Jacob. I mean. So I did. I thought I saw somewhere that he said for the actors that these were rubber mallets.

I hope they are. I mean, I couldn't imagine like the regular actors they would do. I mean, I'm going to use regular mallets. Oh my goodness. I don't know. It looks, I mean, I've used a rubber mallet before. And they don't bounce like that. Like, it's super bounce. Oh, it's really terrible. And even getting hit with a rubber mallet should be beautiful. Yeah, I don't want to be hit with anything. And no, you know, if you look at it, he is with that hit, it is going down. So on some level, he's doing it. They switch. It's pretty visual. It's not grateful. Yeah. Podcast. Yeah.

Just do it. I would go to sleep shaking. If I could do this. This for my, yeah, this is very never I think I'd rather be the power monkey. I feel like I could use a stick. So it can't use a pair of like lung pliers and hold the thing. Right? Oh, good idea. Right. Yeah. Yeah. We'll do some further away. It makes sense. Now that's progress. Carolyn calls the women meanwhile back. It's not for jet made. Yeah. Good morning, ladies. Ladies. I love Willa, by the way, I think Willa is like, um, Willa is the community member that we all want to be.

I know. I like the care and wallet. We should start getting people willa. Attention, please. Don't be such a will. I'm glad so many of you could come. I thank you for it. We all have the same problem. Don't close the door. It's not like this bugs and stuff. Be in our families next winter. And you've shown by coming here today that you think will all fare better if we work together. Does anybody want to say anything? I was told there'd be snakes. Yes, I do. I'd like to say that I don't think it'd be sensible to try and harvest any of that wheat. If that's what we're going to do, that's what we're going to do. Who's Willa married to? Like, I want to know who this guy is. Well, my thanks. Thank you, please. Yeah. It's all lying flat on the ground. I know it's lying flat on the ground.

I didn't say it would be easy to harvest it. Easy. Racious. I just don't think we can. We can if we want to badly enough. How? We'll have to go into the fields. Pick up a few stocks at a time by hand. Break some of it. And who are these women? Like, they're just, I mean, we couldn't throw in, I guess, there's not that many people though. Yeah, like, could they have even thrown in? Well, why, why couldn't Jeff Peters-wise be there? She obviously lives in the town. But, um, yeah, I mean, then, I guess we can presume he's a farmer. He's going to work. But he's a power monkey. Maybe this is just how he makes money. No, no, no, no. They actually, yeah, they are our farmers as well. Yeah, it's a good point. So we get this like cool scene with the women getting the way back. Whoops. I... And they have their, um, what do you call those?

The sepal? Yeah. What is it? I don't know what it's called. My back is killing me and we're getting nothing done. Sleening? Well, I'll lose my back. What do you think you're doing now? I'm making sheaves and tie them so the grain will dry properly. I've got two ears in a minute. They have any. Thank you, Hope. So the women are just... Yeah. And Caroline gives her a piece of her mind. And we know we're all going to go hungry. We certainly will go hungry, Willa. If we all work like you do, you're going to have to try harder. Or at all. The question, why couldn't Charles have done this? You know, it's a great question. Maybe it's he would consider this to be completely ineffective.

Yeah, maybe he needs too many people. Maybe I'm having a... Oh, that's a whole... Yeah, like he would have to have a community doing it. I mean, this seems to me like a lot of work. But I guess even if you can mill enough flour for your own family to get through the winter, that it's worth it, right? Yeah, for sure. For each family. Yeah, doing a community food bank type thing. Yeah. Yeah. I mean... Like the women do the work. They should... She thought of it. Yeah, exactly. So, so, like, so Jack is stuffing dynamite down his pants as one does. Hi, Jacob. Charlie, I need some capstone. All right. Ah. Just... I don't know. I never noticed I can clean a nice pants. Look at this. I'm a powder monkey. I'm a powder monkey. Oh, it's just like double jacket, you know.

Not too many men want that kind of work, and anytime I want a job, I most times can get it. Now, one of the great things about dynamite, of course, is how stable it is, obviously. But did you ever see the TV show lost? I... I've... I've seen it. The first one, the one particular scene where they come across a box very similar to this, and it's like old dynamite from like the 40s. And they open it up and it's leaching. You know, it's unstable. So... Somebody moves it a little too quickly. Boom. I always thought dynamite was just like that from the old roadrunner questions. I'm not really too tired of getting my skin off. But I think that was like the whole thing about dynamite is that it's kind of, it's a lot more safe than nitroglycerin. Which they have also hauled on the show. Yeah, and then later with Jo Kiggy. Yeah.

Yeah. Which was, you know, I just think that nitroglycerin is more powerful like you get more bang for your buck. I don't get blown. See why? Well, the wife made me quit. She said she'd be able to sleep better than I should. So I took up weak farming. Weak farming. You don't get blown up that way. You just get hailed out. Hey, this guy, he's a handsome one. Yeah. Thanks. Stop. What does powder monkey do? Oh, I'll show you. All right. Take it down to the right. You can drop it. You can burn it. You can step on it. Nothing. To make it explode, you need one of these. No fuse. You stick it on the end. And you've got to crimp the cap so it won't fall off. That's not. You know, we got a tool for doing that, but he won't use it. Get an old woman, Tom.

Anyway, you take this and you poke it into that dynamite. We can't get any drilling down until you get your tools in your hand. And the work is that way. Yes, Tom. Yes, Tom. We're going, Tom. She's. You can tell the jab goes live. Yeah. It's powder monkey. Like this is what he loves. This guy has great teeth. He are real. Yeah. I mean, actually, when you're going to those dentures, they're perfect. They could be dead. Well, I mean, it's kind of young to be dentures, but could be. Yeah. I mean, perfectly straight. Yeah. Maybe caps. Yeah, maybe. They look real. This is a 70s. Nothing looked real in the 70s. So we're getting a lot of quarrying done. Trows is like he's got his sweat showing through. You know, he's just doing his thing.

But this is exactly what I would expect. His hands would just be. But I think just the vibration alone would just be. Oh, my. It would just be crazy. Are you sad? Yeah, that too. Shoulders, muscles. I can't. So yeah, we see a lot of quarrying happening. A lot of fun stuff. And they're getting to be really good. I mentioned this before. I think I've reviewed this episode a couple times. This particular scene reminds me so much of MASH, which I like MASH. I don't know too much about MASH. But it just. I remember it. Yeah, it's a good show. And every time I've seen it, I'm like, oh, this is a great show. But this just really reminds me of.

And I guess the guy in the middle, Jacob, he reminds me of like one of the characters. Oh, yeah. What's the matter, Charlie? Nothing just thinking. About home and the wife and the kids. For Ben. Whoops. Sorry. I just better finish up her now. It's business done. Really? It looks like it's like four o'clock. Yeah, it's pretty early. Yeah. Three little girls will be getting ready. Yeah, three little girls will be getting ready for Ben.

I miss my own too. I'll play some of this because we get a little bit of a backstreet. My peg is a scrapper. I miss that. She'd have to be to be married to you. It's another thing is we get a little bit of, I don't know, guys kind of like ripping on each other just a little bit, like harmless type of stuff. We don't normally get that on little house. There's no like just kind of messing with each other and making jokes with someone else's expense, but it like being lighthearted. So that's good to see. Tell us, give me what for, you know, don't change me shirt, don't change me socks. Whatever come on, light for supper. You know what they like. I miss it. Miss, we're glad. Again, I don't think that they would have like the patience in 2026 for this.

No. But I think the audience would accept it. So is this where Jacob talks about his wife? You don't know. Oh yeah. I miss it all. Miss, we're glad. You got any children, Jake? I don't know. You don't know. My own. I have baby now. People I get home for sure. Disreputable. So that's really ought to be tough, right? So you have to leave for money. You know, like your broke, you know, and your wife's about to have a kid, like within days.

Yeah. That's a little dangerous. I mean, but back then it was almost like the men weren't helping anyway. It seemed. Yeah. So, you know, on one hand, I'm like, would he have even been involved? But on the other hand, he seems like type of guy who would have definitely been involved. Yeah. I would just feel bad, but it was like there by yourself. Well, maybe, you know, hopefully she's a friend. Nalus or a grace. So we're back. I want to grove and we have a voice over from Laura. Tuesday was mail day. We had to work just like any other day. But on Tuesday, we worked head to way until the mail came. If there was any. We don't know any of these. I mean, we saw them before, but only when and all these kids. Geez. I miss Elna Jacobson.

Have I got a letter, please? No. Move it along. It's a long line. So here we are with, we got the letter from Charles or Charlie. That's my name. Man, sending cash in the mail like, oh my god. Like, imagine even now we can't do that. I could swear that I did it when I was younger to mail away for stuff and it worked. I mean, the dollar, the dollar CD club or something. Well, yeah, I was definitely a user of the CD club of the Columbia. In my home, we had many apartments. And I think I did that like three times. Like apartment one, you know, B and that type of thing.

Then they caught on pretty quick. But I'm not like 30 CDs out of that. It's the Mid-Eye person. Sorry Columbia House. If it makes him feel any better, I probably still have them. See, you appreciate it. Yeah. I was just saying to one of my new friends that a hundred miles is not a long distance. Except when it lies between you and the ones you love. We've won any of these shod Jack instead of Laura. I visit with you each day in my thoughts and I count the hours until we can. I can't read that to the kids. Self-centering here. Me together again. Take good care of each other. Know that I am will. I love you all very much.

Josh. Even that, you know, sitting there and reading the letter, it just, I feel as though we wouldn't really get anything like that coming soon. Let's see. So Jack sends a letter home. Oh, look at that. He spelled the very first word wrong. D-E-R-E-D-E. And one G and Peggy. Spell and figure. That's like the ultimate thing right there. I forgot to clip the, I don't know what happened to that clip. Spell, he's been girls. I'm gonna learn how to spell. Really be like pop. I'm all right because he can't spell. No, because he's the best. The best powder monkey decided to Mississippi. My letter is T.

Yeah. Whoa. So we're powdering. We're quarrying and powdering. It's what we do now. Men's work. Yeah, just a lot of scenes of also, you know, women's work. You know, it's, they're literally bringing in the shoes. I mean, yeah, you're absolutely right. I was afraid I didn't like play that song. I'm surprised Reverend Alden's not standing there drinking lemonade under a tree watching. This is wonderful Caroline. Just as rooted. Just as rooted. So yeah, they're doing, they're doing the entire job and they're really busting their arses doing it. So we get like everybody's working hard. Working hard montage. Yeah. This is one of those actually, this is a weird little shot of Karen Gosling where her hair is so weird looking.

And it's like this whole shot is done with the handheld. Are they using, were they getting hair layers in 1974 or 1874? It's the first time. It's the invention of the layers. Alright, so this is why men are stupid. He's just casually walking with a lit stick of dynamite to the shared outhouses. I don't understand the point of this type of thing. What if he killed somebody one and two, where are they going to go to the bathroom? I know. I've been just working for a very long time. I can't still go swimming.

Actually, can we maybe guess it maybe it's a dummy? You know, we did not see an explosion. That's true. This is like a scene right out of our harvest of friends where they're assembly line. The fun facts, the person who wrote the person who wrote this episode, that's his brothers with the person who wrote harvest of friends. Brothers? Really? Yeah, it's his brother. What's that name? Ward Hawkins wrote this one and his brother John wrote, which has like a really similar theme, I thought. Like, can I times or tough? Let's pull together, let's work together. That's really interesting. He did six episodes of Little House. I wonder if the assembly line is in every single one.

Let's see. He's also. He did school mom as well. I don't recall there being one, but in 1975, I did four of them, family quarrel, circus man, money crop, and Founders Day. Interesting. Those episodes all have a similar feel, I think. Circus man is one of the more questionable episodes to me. Oh, I remember that was that with thread buttons. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was okay. It was okay. It was kind of a throwaway. It was like a Michael Landon putting classic actors to work, in my opinion. Yeah. Like, like, like, who? Like, when he had Patricia Neal on in New York. Yeah, Patricia Neal. He also had the guy who played the scarecrow. I forget his name right now. Oh, yeah, Ray Boulder. Yeah, I feel like he was, he had so much respect for early Hollywood.

And when he saw like these people not doing much, maybe, you know, he would put that in the work. Yeah. We have a great time doing this. So let's see. We come to the quarry. Well, sounds like I'm alarm. Come on, Jacob. Come on, Charlie. Okay, everybody ready? Competition and then we're just about to go around. So the competition is pretty amazing to watch. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Do you remember the

can you pay me for the boots? Right, throw me five bucks. Actually, boots are really dollar. Yeah, like, okay, he's gonna pay. They don't ever show me paying for the boots. Yeah, it's true, it's a good point. It best friends now, you know? Yeah. All right, now you're gonna get your $50, but you'll get it when you get your pay. 50 bucks, I'll see, I'll like a lot of money. Geez. Yeah. I mean, one dollar is equal to about $25. So what would that be? $1,000. $1,000, $1,000. $400,000? $400,000? I'm $1,000. Yeah, wait, hold on. Let's, $25,000. It's not gonna work. $1,250, like now. So, it's pretty amazing. It's pretty amazing. It's great. That's not for two days yet. We've got work to do. Come on, boys. Work so we can 100,000.

All right, let's go. Hey. I never understand people throw hats, like, and then they don't retrieve it. So let's see, this is one of the more funny moments of the episode. Hey. Jack. I'll never let go. Oh, man, Jack. Jack. Hey. Big winners, right? That's right. Hide rock miners, right? Right. You're lucky. That's all. Aha. A real hide rock miner wouldn't let you carry this. Oh. Oh. Oh. There's an explosion. And then, you can see, is a ring of smoke in the sky. This is like the sea. It's like the sound of the death star being blown on the end of a new boat. Oh, my God. What is that? It's like steam. It is. It's like a lantern.

You just smoke cigarettes. I always picture him like doing like a brown ring. A ring smoke. You're a ring. Yeah. Because I think he was just doing smoke rings. Oh, man. He's still standing out there looking. Oh, man. He's still standing out there looking at it. So they're collecting their money. They're going to bring their money. You know, they're cashing out. They're like, all right, we're out of here. Yeah, he's like, here's Jack Peter's money. Here, he was like, he was like, he's like, OK, I guess that's my job. I guess half of this is mine. What life? What are you talking about? Exactly. We get to Jacob. Good luck. Thank you, man. Come on. What are you waiting for? I can't see it. It looks like bandage.

Yeah. I mean, you can't. Come on. What are you waiting for? Jacob's sense. I mean, you can't. Come on. What are you waiting for? Jacob's sense. Good luck. That's soon to start. Too soon. I were going to start a new room. I'm going to start it tomorrow. Like, did anyone know that bandage actually was in the first episode in the first season? I'm going to take a screenshot. Come on. What are you waiting for? Jacob's sense. I'm going to start it tomorrow. I'm going to start it tomorrow. I'm going to start it tomorrow. It does look like it. It really does. I mean, yeah, I'll be upfront about this is if I can plant a rumor that Michael Landon was on the short list to become Michael Knight from Knight Rider, then I can do anything. I actually planted that rumor and it's on IMDb now.

It's like a fun movie. It's like a trivia thing about him. He was a front runner. David Hasseloft took the role. I'm doing that to you anymore. What? I don't know what's true anymore. You know, it's like we live in a world of AI. That is Jack if I've ever seen Jack before. It's like a real thing. He's a baby up over his head. It's a boy. He's a boy. But it's on it. It just holds that baby up like a loaf of bread. Yeah, well, it probably is a loaf of bread. Oh, yeah. It's going to go tell Jack Peter's wife that he's a Maria smoke. Charles is, he just dropped off Jacob who had a boy and he's going to go meet with Jack

who has a boy. Who doesn't have a boy? Charlie. Charles. So we go and it's a pretty visual little moment. So of course the sun is like this. Jodie Foster's upset. Who really does? I feel like there are a lot more kids with this exact kind of hair in the 70s. I would have had this haircut. Yeah, my brother did. Like it was. You're like, you're so cute. No, do you have this type of hair? Yeah, it's exactly the same. Yeah, like that pin straight. Yeah, yeah. Marshall Ryder. Marshall Pryder. Oh, boy. It's not a bad thing.

Charles, like you're going to use those two horses? Give you five bucks. So the kids are obviously upset. Charles is like, what are you coming? You can come and visit me. He's like, let's go fishing. I don't know this kid. Like it's very strange. Like he's, I don't know. It's just very odd that he would say these things to him. Now my paw died. Got a lot of work to do. Lot of work to do. Charles wants to adopt this kid so bad. Yeah. He's got layers in the back too.

Oh, yeah, he does. It's Charles. That was a tough time for Charles. Look at this. He looks like she's dancing. Oh, she's so cute in that big show. Like yeah. He's going to wear all the lights on him. And he made sure he stopped in town first to get the horses. Yeah, right. Go home. You do this tomorrow. Then again, maybe he's tired of walking. He's like, you know what? It's two miles. I can just sit on this horse. Now, these are not the horses that we see in the future. Right? Pretty sure of that. It's like. I kind of want to see her doing that. In slow motion. Whoops. Let's see it.

See how like flappy arms. It looks like she just got those arms and lights. That morning. It's like when Faris comes running and like the braces come off of him. Yeah. So Charles is home. Everything's good again. He's got a great story to tell. It's his business. But she's what you see soon. Yeah. And it seems so genuine. Like, I know. Maybe I'm just like an idiot. I just believe it. So much. But. He believed it because it's true. It is true. Oh. I'm more happy about the horses than I am of anything else. But. Very sweet moment. Yeah. It was a good episode. And carries in it. Yeah. And in the Caribbean last scene too.

Yeah. Imagine if they forgot Carrie's character in the reboot. And they have to like add her in like CGI. She's just like this Android looking thing. I just thought it was very strange that they didn't see her. But maybe we will. She'll be in. Don't be there. Some. I've only seen the trailer twice. I have to do a little bit more of her. I guess like frame by frame breakdown. No, I don't. I'll just wait. I mean, it's a. It'll be out in about three months. And hopefully. Is it Netflix? Yeah. Netflix July 9th. Okay. I also want to watch it. No, will I watch it? Yes. Yeah, watch it. And I'll review it. We'll see how it goes. I'm sure. I'm sure it'll be entertaining. I just am curious. Like right now watching Deadwood. And. Deadwood is very different. I'm sure. I'm sure. I'm sure. I'm sure. I'm sure.

And Deadwood is very different from Little House in a. Playing. Yeah, my husband lost. She said that there's a lot of you know. There's a lot of. There's a lot of. There's a lot of. There's a lot of. There's a lot of sex. There's a lot of killing, violence. There's. There's brutality. There's. Gore. Yeah, it's like. So I watch with my 17 year old, he's finally old enough. Where I don't feel totally uncomfortable. And. It's, I think it's a really good show. But that's more in line with what I would expect from Netflix for a 19th century show. So we'll see. The franchise is so fragile, I feel like. And if they were to, if they come out and they missed step and I don't know if it's possible to make a perfect step with little house in a hurry. We'll see. Now I think our us die hearts will be critical no matter what. It's not what we know, but maybe they're trying to aim towards a new generation of people.

So that's where I was like thinking. So who would they be trying to reach? I mean, they're certainly not appealing to my 17 year old child, right? They're not really appealing to anyone younger. As far as I can tell. Yeah, I wasn't sure the demographic is it like a chutzp. Is it a family show? Is it like for kids? That's a kind of curious. I'm going to ask AI. I mean, that's rock. See, in terms of the little house in the prairie reboot. Is it marketed and meant for I should have younger audiences. I should have framed this a little bit differently. What is the main demo?

And it's thinking about my request. It's confusing the. All right. None of the first it was going to confuse it with the three 2005 reboot. But no, it's the Netflix less than a prairie reboot is not primarily marketed or meant for younger audiences like children or tweens is the core focus. It's main demographic push. Push appears to be multi generational family of viewers with a strong emphasis on nostalgia for older fans and feel good heartland and comfort content. And that's another thing is Solora and Mary appear to be older than the Melissa Gilbert and Melissa Sue Anderson. So what I think that is it kind of reminds me back in my days of marketing where it's very difficult to market two tweens.

It's impossible to market to tweens because they're unpredictable. You have no idea what a nine or 10 year old is going to like. It's impossible. And whatever they end up liking, it's you're lucky. If you can guess the teenagers, it's kind of like there are all of these like strategies, but the tweens, it's like the untapped impossible to crack market. So that's why I don't think that they they they had a little bit older kids as the main characters just to avoid that tween. Possible failure. That's. Yeah. It'll be like more like little kid at show. Right. Or I just I don't I don't know what to expect, but we'll see. And but yeah, it is kind of interesting that it's not being marketed towards

two younger audiences. So it's not like a little kid show. So I guess it's being marketed in the same way as the original little house. So I guess so. And we'll see how it goes. In my opinion, you can't approve on projection. So I bring up Star Wars for the third time now. Like when Star Wars had these new like prequels and all this kind of stuff, nothing is going to be as good as the original. And people it's, you know, people may accept it eventually, but for the most part, eh. And then I wonder, are they going to do something controversial to just separate people who like the original versus the reboot? Because you're I would imagine if the people who love the books and the TV show. Yeah. Sorry. I would imagine it to do something to distinguish themselves. Right. Yeah. And they're actually, they're also making remaking Harry Potter too.

Like it looks like frame for frame remake of Harry Potter for some reason. I don't know why. That's not even that old. Yeah. I mean, what is it? Like 20 some under years, 20, 25 maybe. That maybe 25 years old. When I worked at, I worked for Scholastic Entertainment. And that's when that's before Harry Potter became like a really big thing. And we were given these books. And I just remember this is one of the craziest things that I've ever experienced. And to look back on is, um, our main boss, the VP of marketing is woman Deborah Forte, who ended up having these a tremendous career. Um, she passed on the Harry Potter marketing because she just felt it just didn't have what Scholastic really wanted. They were publishing it, but she passed on the marketing rights, like, you know, the toys and all that kind of stuff. Oh my gosh. And I remember being in the morning. And I don't know if you remember this TV show, but she goes, why do we need Harry Potter?

We have Anna Morphs. And Anna Morphs was, um, like a show that I worked on a TV show that just people remember and they're very fond because it was a book series, but the TV show just failed. It was horrible. So she literally felt like Anna Morphs was going to be the big thing. Not Harry Potter. And you don't know what to catch on. No, you just never know. I love Harry Potter. And actually, if you like Harry Potter, you should look for the European or the UK edition of the book. It's slightly different. Oh, is it? It's just a few words here and there, but it kind of, I forget exactly what it does, but it makes it a little darker and a little bit more progressive. Actually, the first or the first movie is called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which is with the original UK version of the book. Right. That's who. Yeah. I forgot about that.

Yes. And maybe they're making more like the original version. Yeah. When I met JK Rowling, she was just a regular person. Like, I'm very very briefly, but like, well, you know, she came there to like just sit in a room and sign books, which is crazy. And yeah, the marketing people just got to meet her, which is nice. But was this the first she was super big? Yeah. Like, this was, you know, Harry Potter was starting to get some buzz. But it just, it wasn't really huge at this point. And I don't even think I read the book at that point. But anyway, so, um, Bridget, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to come on here and talk about a little house in a prairie.
