1:00Well, it is your time of year and as soon as it will be the Eagles' time of year. So, Elliot, as the days have gone on, and we had heard how we yesterday about the backup quarterback thing and the four quarterbacks, what did you, I thought his comparison to 2017 was interesting, but I think he's right. Now, I don't think he's right that it's going to end up like that or that any of these guys could do what Foles did. But, you know, I'm wondering what your memory was. He did jog my memory that 2017, there was some concern in that summer because Foles didn't play much or play well at an elbow thing six months later. So, like, I guess the question is, how much of this do you think they're keeping these guys because they're track record versus they're trying to extract value in a trade? Like, what is really going on? Yeah, so it's funny. He brings up Foles from 2017. Honestly, a great rebuttal by Halley, you know, as a debateman. It was a good point. And he's got a statue outside. Exactly. It's hard to counter that one. I mean, look, there are some flaws with it. Foles was hurt. Foles had a longer track record. Foles, I think, had played better more recently than Andy Dalton has as well as Tanner, who's really not played much. You know, I think it's a bit of a leverage thing for sure.

2:03I think they think that eventually a team will call and they can turn one of these players into an asset. Like, how much of an asset? It's hard for me to say, you know, how he has a good read on this. But at the end of the day, I think what it really shows is not that the roster is not good, but they don't, like, they cut a lot of young players and they got most of them back credit to how he, but I think if someone like Kapanagushikan, the safety had like really impressed them. Maybe you don't keep four quarterbacks, right? If like, chance Campbell or Deontay Lawson had like really impressed them, maybe then you don't keep four quarterbacks. So I think it's a combination of things. I think it's a, a, they probably aren't really decide who they want the backup to be. B, they do want to trade them for a pick and then C, I think it's a year where they could probably keep four quarterbacks because they didn't have a ton of young players. Like step up and earn roster spots. You know what's funny? We were talking about this more. I'm kind of curious to get you a take on this. Basically, Joe called how he'll be fat liar. As far as, you know, him saying, is this a make or break for Jaylen Hertz? I want how do you feel about that? Do you feel like this is a pivotal year for Jaylen where whether or not he's

3:03going to be here as a fill it up, he goes, so it's definitely a pivotal year for Jaylen. And not even because of like the reports, opinions, whatever, just contractually. Like I think he has maybe 40 ish, 45 million dollars in guaranteed money beyond this year. So he doesn't have a ton of guaranteed money after this season. That's not a lot for a quarterback for, you know, what he does. So I think even if we thought the Eagles loved him, even if we thought like, you know, all the, you know, great things about him, there is still a decision we made after this year. Do you want to give him another 150 million, 200 dollars? So the break part of it is if he's not good, I could picture a world where they move on from him. If you look at the salary cap situation, if they trade Jaylen after this year, they only lose $3 million in salary cap space. And there's a $45 million dead, dead cap, this is according to over the cap.com. So that is a very manageable situation. I think what was the AJ Brown dead cap it numbers? Well, they split it over to it. That's right. But it was, it was 40 if they had dumped them before when they traded Carson so many years ago, 30, 37. So 45 million is not really that much. They would still have $30 million in cap space.

4:08So they can move on from Jaylen after this year if they want. Now the makes side of that, though, which I think we don't focus on enough is if Jaylen has an awesome year, he will have like all the leverage in the world. So when you're essentially in a contract year like Jaylen is, of course, it's a proof of it here, just like any player on the roster that's on essentially a one year deal. Elliott, about a week away from the opener, what's the biggest question in your mind about the team as we get to week one? So the game, the game is a week from Sunday. Biggest part of the team that you're just wondering like, how is this going to be? How is it going to look against the commanders? So I think the passing game is obvious one to say, right? But one thing I'm really thinking about heading into the beginning of the season, like how can they win the first four games or go three and one? Because they normally do win in September all the time. I feel really good about the running game. I think the biggest thing that's changed in my opinion from the beginning of training camp to now is I think you're able to run the balls. Take ones look awesome. All the running backs have looked awesome. The offensive lines look great. The backup offensive lines look great. This scheme is made to run. So I feel like they're going to be able to run the ball and we all know the defense will be good. I think the real question for week one is how sloppy is

5:12this team going to be? Like will there be pre snap penalties? Will there be procedural or procedural stuff? Like will they be a team that because they're learning a new offense is really shooting themselves in the foot during this game? Because I think they're way better than Washington. I don't think Washington's that good. I think Washington's going to win like five or six games this year. So they should win the first game and Washington especially as a bad defense. But one way it could get tricky is if you see some like some of the stuff that hurt him last year like having first in 20, having a big play taken away. So that's one thing I'm really thinking about going into this game is how clean can the Eagles be from a procedural standpoint? When you know when you talk about the first game and playing against the team that you're planning against you talk about how we get their defenses. What is for you a decent stat line for a quarterback that hasn't played this offense, learning to offense and everything. What is a decent stat line for you to say, okay, that's a good start for Jay. I guess just a win, right? I mean, that's what I'm that now he's talking. You're like, no, that's not right. But honestly, for me, there's one number that

6:16matters for a minute zero. It's the turnovers. Like if they take care of the ball against Washington, they'll win the game because they're better than Washington. And now this year, I don't think, you know, for the past three years, we could go in almost every game and say the Eagles are the better team. I don't know if that will be the case as much this year. So, but I do think they're better than Washington. And when you're the better team for me for jail and it's like the passing yards, I don't know 200 yards, something like that. But he does. And conceptually, I understand where he's coming from and I get it. And look, you can look at Darnell last year at a lot of turnovers. They scored a lot of points. The one thing I think he might be missing and I think it's more towards your side of the argument, is if they run the ball a lot, there's less possessions in the game. If Jaylon turns the ball over twice, I don't know how they get to the 30 points.

8:19There's only so many possessions in a game and this team seems to shorten the game anyway with the way they play. So I get it and I would take an extra turnover of meant two more touchdowns. I'm just not sure if it works for this team. Well, so in its interesting, all off season, and this exciting thing about the season starting is hypothetical times over to an extent. They're going to be playing and basically a little over a week. So if we're having a hypothetical conversation about a hypothetical football team and how you want to do things, I can see spikes argument of clearly you score more points, you're better. Like that's not breaking news. But if you talk about this Eagles team specifically, they are engineered to be a team to take care of the ball elite defense. Great run and game. Right. Like there you go. Right? Like that when you have those two things, you don't have to be reckless. You don't have to take chances. And you know, we often talk about this too from like where the ball is thrown. I think another way to look at this is if you can run the ball really well in your under center, I'm not completely dismissing the pre snap motion thing. But when I'm talking about like just being a conservative safe offense that runs the ball is the more stuff you're

9:22doing pre snap, the more chances there are for penalties. And then if you do get a first in 20, you're really killing the running game for that entire drive. Like you could get a big chunk play on second. You're like, who knows? But the penalty is going to be so key for this team because I don't think they're going to throw the ball through the air consistently throughout the season. Now week one, they could do it. Washington's bad. I think Washington will stack the box. They're going to be without their number one corner. And I also think there's something for the Eagles have spent all off season preparing for this game. They have spent all training camp hiding things. So like it wouldn't shock me if they dropped 40 points on Washington. Like if they just came out and like shocked the world, it was like me with my, my, my, what's that line? Well, he predicted 30 points per game. The first average average. Yeah. I like it. Thought the little heavy. Well, yeah. I mean, I mean, Tennessee and Washington bad defensively. Yeah. No, they know they, they could put a point there. But I just think they're going to have an element of surprise that, you know, they'll have a bunch of things ready. So I do think four week one. And like for this hypothetical, you know, the non-hippetail call we're talking about. Yeah. Like taking care of the ball. They're 39 and three when they when they win the turnover battle. Like what argument is there against it?

10:24Well, they want the turnover battle on the playoff game and they lost the game. That was a big one last year. But again, like that's one game. I know I'm using 42 games. Yeah. I know you heard. All right. Now let's talk about four games. I'm curious your thought on this because you just mentioned maybe some choppyness earlier in the year, but the first two opponents aren't very good. Would you sign up and do you think the Eagles would sign up for two and two? So they're, they're going to be their favorites week one by five and a half points. I haven't looked yet. I imagine they're about a four and a half, five and a half road favorite in Tennessee. They're not good. But they, I have looked. They're underdogs in Chicago. They're underdogs here against the Rams. Like on the look ahead. Let's see could change. Yeah. But let's just say they're underdogs in week three and four. Their favorites week one and two. Do you think the Eagles would sign up for two and two? Would you? Wow. It's a great question. Um, I think I probably would just because I wouldn't want to risk the alternative of one and three. Right. Like it would be more important for me to be two and two than one and three. Like and then obviously you could be three and one. You could be four and a, but I think I would take the floor of two and two. But I, I don't know

11:26if this is an Eagle specific thing. I think almost any team, if given this option to play out for games or split the first two in the first month of the season, I think there's a strong argument just to take the two and two and like your season's not sunk, you know. And two of the toughest opponents all year are week three and four on the road in Chicago. Right. Like you know, I don't want to win the first two. Now they beat the Rams all the time. But they, well, yeah, I know. But yeah, he said it feels a little different. Small, small. No, it feels like the Rams were better than they had been in a while. So we'll say, we'll say, yeah, but I think the Eagles just have their number. Well, no, I'm buying the Rams. I just think that I think the Rams are better than the Eagles, but I don't think the Eagles should be worried about the Rams. Yeah, I think that's a fair word to say. Yeah, they had they had the Eagles. I think like the Eagles have a better head coach and well, they don't. And is that well, he beats them all the time. And I think what you see in these games is they win on the margins against the Rams all the time. They do, but I don't think he's better head coach. I mean, if they were both available, who more teams are after? I think more teams would have make that higher. Yeah, I don't think that makes them right. But you are, but yes, in that instance, yeah.
