So there's a story populating, it's not even a story, it's a thread on the famous site x.com, formerly known as Twitter, formerly known as whatever. Of a group of researchers who, it sounds like it's a group of three who hacked open AI and were able to move around within their infrastructure and overtake accounts and do all this stuff and for their hard work and responsible reporting of hacking SkyNet, they were paid $6,500. It's almost like opening an AI needs more safeguards, am I right? It's like, I feel like there should be a couple more zeros after that because it's like you just hacked humanity and, so what they were able to do is they were able to take over, they were able to get in through like an exploit and then compromise their single sign on and then were able to take over individual accounts and finally found an open AI employee

and then they were able to, the story ends with them being able to push a pull request to their repo and that was their proof of like your, your own side. So the problem I have here is you're describing human error. It's very, this is the normal way to get it. This is the best way to hack anything right. You get through in through some person without the right protections on their account or whatever it is. I think it was more complex than that. I don't think it was, it was that. No, I'm uploaded somewhere and exploited some whatever, but they were just using AI to do it. It was like just go hack the site and it did. It's cool. The irony of AI being used to hack AI is, you know, delicious, I guess, but I mean, you're kind of making not you. I mean, just kind of makes the case that like, you know, maybe we need people in the chain. Maybe we really are the weak link. I mean, I do. I'm continuing to believe that frontier security is just going to be a dot MD file that says,

could you not? And yeah, right, right. This is the dude and I track thing or whatever. Yeah, what was that thing in the browser? You could turn on like that never did anything. But please don't still love my data. Yep. Thank you for letting us know you don't want that. Now we will keep doing it. Yeah. Boy. Also, there's a one drive co-pilot event happening in late October that I didn't realize was related to photo stuff. Vigley interested into that, but I'm cautiously pessimistic about what they would actually do here. But I wonder why drive pretty much has an event like this every year. I mean, you know, this is. I don't know. I got it. So it's been so long. I don't even it's weird. I don't think about this anymore. But three years ago now, that was the one thing that I like want when I, you know, remember like when co pilot first came out, there was like a, well, there's a paid version for consumers called co pilot pro or something. And then of course, you know, the business version, whatever. But one of the things you were going to be able to do right in the beginning was make

custom chat bots or no, they were called custom GPTs at the time. And of course, all I really wanted was like, AI looking at like some part of my file system. So I could ask you questions or find stuff because you know, certain terrible. So I think it was last year, but whenever it was sometime last year, there was, you know, co pilot in one drive, you're like, okay, I mean, this honestly sounds useful for that kind of thing. But I guess if it's going to photo, you know, focus on photos, that must be what that stupid standalone photo, I would like photos about, but okay. I don't know. My one request is that it works because every time I open alok.com for my personal email, they now occasionally force open the co pilot window and says, do you want a summary of your inbox? And I always hit yes. And it fails. It tells me it cannot read the inbox. So I just, you know, it's a little things like at least make it work. And then I'm willing to try.

Yeah. I at the end of the day, I mean, I just, I don't know, some people just embrace this stuff. I don't like you. The idea like Google notebook, you know, the notebook, I love this idea that you pull in whatever sources and then you start asking questions about the topic is something I bet some people I get. Now I totally get this. I kind of don't like I just I recognize that it's useful. I'm sure lots of people use it. I just kind of want to search, you know, I often just want to find a thing, whatever it might be. And what I don't want is a conversation, you know, but I guess everyone's different. I don't know. Like the recall thing like the all the stupid aggravation over the stupid feature, you know, my whole thing was just like, I just don't, I just don't need this. You know, like I sometimes I feel like solutions occur because they're, they become available,

like not because anyone asked for it. So it's like, hey, we're really good at like image to text, you know, like understanding what an image is. Like, is there like a feature like we could do? I got to be honest, I completely forgot about recall. I suspect most people have too. Right. There's such a controversy and stupid, I don't know why, but someone thought this was going to be like a marquee feature two or two and a half years ago, whatever it was. But I, you know, it's like everything else in life. Like a lot of, you know, a lot of people like, I don't get it, like whatever. And then like one out of every town or something's like, oh, you know, that's what I want. Yeah. But I just don't, I don't have tried it several times. I just don't see the point. I don't think it's the only because even close to being the best kind of locally ag feature. I mean, but again, some people, you know, I just, we just do what search and window, like that work, that'd be great, you know, or it was forced into its own experience, because they needed a differentiator and then it all backfired. And then now it's probably fine because people have just given up on privacy and local AI

and keeping control of your own destiny. Well, people get attacked. By the way, the fact that there were a week call like tools and every single platform now is hilarious to me. And they worked exactly the same way. And it's like skin take screenshots and we're really good at analyzing images. And, and yep, I don't see why this is controversial, but. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know why my knee hurts either, but you know, here we are. I can see. Well, anyways, I'm traveling next week. So probably no podcast Monday through Wednesday. We should be back Thursday. Okay. We'll have dinner.
