A former NFL linebacker shared his excitement on the Baltimore Ravens offense and that seems to be a theme among a lot of people when it comes to Deathland Doyle's unit. You are Locked On Ravens. I'm your host, Kevin Ostryker of RavensWire on today's show. I'm going to be talking about a Ravens roster preview and obviously this is in relation to week number one. It's kind of not me to where the roster stands currently. The second part of the show, what I've been to Derek Henry Wang and then the Ravens

2:05Offense at Lyman in the first part of the show. A former NFL linebacker. He shared his excitement on the Ravens offense. So let's dive into it here. Starting off with Mansight Tales comments on Good Morning Football. So Mansight Tales was on Good Morning Football. He talked about the Ravens offense and he said quote, in years previous, they've been one of the best offensive outfits in the entire league. Lamar hasn't failed in any category. I have an idea and understanding where Deathland Doyle comes from. I know it's probably going to incorporate a lot of pre-stat motions, but it's something that Lamar hasn't done yet. It's going to put him under center, which is something I know Lamar is excited for and especially Derek Henry is excited for. If Deathland Doyle can get them to be consistent in the playoffs, I'm saying them and not Lamar, that is going to be a breath of fresh air. Not for the Baltimore Ravens, but for us fans to see them carry that over into the playoffs. So lots to kind of break down here from Mansight Tales comments. First of all, I do think that the, I mean, there was pre-snap stuff that was happening

3:07with Lamar and Ravens offense, but not nearly to the level. I mean, it was very minuscule compared to I think what we're going to see in the Deathland Doyle type of offense. But again, the under center stuff, the play action stuff, the stuff we've all talked about here together on this show, just about how I think that that is going to be able to really help you take advantage of defense, especially when you are having success and you know, you go under center, you have a play action look or, you know, there are just other things you can do pre-snap with under center looks. All that stuff is going to, I personally believe, impact the Ravens and how they impact, how defenses play them because again, the play action stuff is something I've talked about forever here where if you run the ball at a nine yard, a, a carry clip with their a canary and, you know, you, you have to stop the run as a defense and you're not stopping it, you're going to have to take a step up when there's that play action fake. But when there's a play action fake in the more pulled that ball back and you're already caught on your front foot, yeah, it's not going to be great for you because you're going

4:09to have more injuries or Zay flowers or a shop pavement or whoever get behind the defense that's way. You know, I'm also intrigued by, not really intrigued, I guess I liked the comment that he made about the playoffs because it was more about the Ravens and not Lamar Jackson, right? I think that that is a really important context piece because yes, Lamar is not in the best postseason quarterback in the NFL and NFL history, right? Okay, I'm not going to come on here and say that, but the the playoff faults of the Ravens are not all on Lamar Jackson. So I think that what this offense is going to do is I think it is a lot more translatable over because I think it'll be more of a plan, not that the Ravens didn't have a plan under Todd Munkner, Greg Roman, but especially with the detail oriented stuff that we've heard from this offense and we talked about it on the Ravens, talk about it on the Ravens hit, talk about it on other places as well. There's just so much to look forward to and like when it comes down to it in that situation. So I'm really excited for it personally and I don't know, like it just, it feels to

5:12me like with the way that the Ravens players are speaking about it with the way Declan Doyle is speaking about it and even just like hearing the opinions of former players and people who are excited to see this Ravens offense go, it's mainly because like I think a lot of people just don't think the Ravens offense is hit their full potential and I agree with that they have not. So I think that within these comments, you know, the offense has to be great in the regular season, but it does also have to translate over to the post season and you know, for the Ravens, if you know, we go back and look, there are these games like against the Steelers and against the Texans where it's like, oh man, look, the Ravens offense. Did there a thing? Even the game they lost, Tennessee, Lamar put up over 500 to 20 hours, but again, it's like defense can't force turnovers. Coaching staff makes bad decisions, bad turnovers by whether it's Lamar or Mark Andrews or they flowers or whoever it is, like bad offensive turnovers. All of that does contribute. So I don't know, like I have a lot of high hopes for what's going on in Baltimore right

6:12now and I'm really excited for the offense as a whole. Come to the second quarter to show, we'll talk about Derek Henry. Talk about the Ravens offensive line and we will talk about the Ravens offensive line as well, so they don't panic up on the show. Now again, the offense of mine has been a major topic of discussion for this team all off season because of well how it went last year. But dare canary was asked about the group as a whole and he was asked about the emphasis on revamping the line since last season and how have he's how has seen the group grow throughout training camp, especially the interior guys.

9:19And dare canary said quote, they just work hard in every position group. They just go out there and work and they try to get better every single day individually and collectively that is what those guys, the old line have done. And I cannot wait for them to go out there and display it on Sunday. So feels like dare canary has confidence in those guys with that last statement there. And you know, the work that they put in is apparent to dare canary and look, it feels like there are still question marks with them. I mean, still probably to me is the biggest question mark unit on the team. But at the same time, you know, you don't have Daniel Fahleli starting anymore. You don't have the injury for he's starting anymore. Yes, you've lost Tyrell and Abom. But as we've talked about on the show, I do think that overall they have upgraded at the offensive line position as a holy but graded your guard spots. You've not upgraded at your center spot. But at the same time, I do think that with Javon Gwen's athleticism and his ability to get to the second level. I mean, yes, he's an undersized center like Tyrell and Abom needs the same height in about five or six pounds heavier than him.

10:19I mean, it probably will be, you know, not that a guy like Posek wouldn't have worked in Baltimore. And maybe he still will play because we heard Jesse Mencer say that, well, Baltimore is making this a week one decision, not a season long decision, which is the right decision. By the way, because again, we saw these guys get handed jobs last year that they just did not deserve. But, you know, I do think that again, just middling offensive line. That's all I asked for. And I have a lot of confidence in Ronnie Stanley. I have a lot of confidence in Roger Rosenhorn. I honestly have the most confidence on the team on the offensive line in Bengi, I want it, which is kind of crazy to say how loud. But I mean, that's kind of where we are right now with this offensive line group where, you know, there are still question marks about a lot of different guys, but I feel very confident in the tackle spots. I think you'll want is going to be fine. It's just more so about Conjon Simpson, you know, kind of cut out the penalty situation and not have that go back to what it was in 2023 when he and Ronnie Stanley were two of the most penalized offensive linemen in league. And then what about the center spot?

11:21I mean, the center spot's going to be the big question mark for them. And it's really probably unless Devon Gwyn can show that he can be a long term option at center, it's probably a one year stop gap situation anyway, right? Like that probably is kind of where this situation is headed. But again, like Simpson is a guy that's a veteran, you know, Stanley is a guy that's a veteran. You have younger guys on the right side. Gwyn is also a guy that's not made a start. So like you're going with an experience over the experience post it is coming off the Achilles Salt makes sense, I guess, right? But at the same time, I think you do need to have a situation if you're the Ravens. I mean, they are operating this way. They weren't in the past, but they are this year where you do have backup plans on top of backup plans. And it does feel like Baltimore is not afraid to use those backup plans either with the way the Jesse Miner has talked to some of these other guys have talked as well. So that gives me confidence. But again, Derek from what he has said, you know, we heard a little more Jackson talk about your Vongolin at center spot. Like, feels like the guys have confidence in the unit.

And it's kind of stuff we've done in the past, but really again, with just days before

15:31the season starts, I think it's important to kind of look and reflect on where the roster is currently right now. And like I think it's in a really good spot. Like I genuinely think it is in a very good spot. And really it okay, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but I genuinely do think this is one of the best roster in football. Just I do. Kiyasha has done a wonderful job this off season of approaching the needs that they needed. Like he did last year he didn't do a great job with that in my opinion, especially on the offensive line. But you know, this year it's it's very different. And I think that he approached it with a purpose. And you know now you're looking at it front to back and like you're going to go position by position like quarterback with March Jackson star running back there. Henry star wider severs a flower star more injuries tight end. Hopefully can return to start on like offensive line. They have Barani Stanley, Vengeee, Oana, Roger, we talked about those guys already defensive line. Now I'm going to be gay. Trey Hendrixson on the outside. You know, you have plays Campbell back Travis Jones, you know, Mike Green inside line back a Rook once mid star corner wise Nate Wiggins star, Marlon Humphrey, hope for

16:35return to start them there should have you lose the awesome last year. Safety Kyle Hamilton star like all across the board. It is an incredible roster. It is an incredible roster. I think that you know in my opinion, you know, the reason I'm so bullish on the Ravens this year is specifically in the AFC is because I just don't think there's an AFC team that can hold a candleable Baltimore's roster right now. Like I genuinely don't. And let's look through the teams. The bill is to have major questions offensively. The Bangalore saw major questions offensively. The Chiefs are getting older and have questions injury wise. The Patriots and we saw what Drake made in the second half of that game last night. The Broncos, there are questions about them and you know what whether Boenix can take a leap, etc, etc. I mean, who else are we looking at? Like Steelers, no, the Chargers, no like I genuinely like the Texans are a team but they have questions offensively with CJ Stroud their defenses elite but they have questions like it just feels like Baltimore not that the Ravens don't have questions but it feels like

17:36they're the most well-rounded of all these AFC teams and that gives me a lot of confidence personally and just kind of who they can be over the course of this season. Even if it does amount to some you know what worst case scenario you get some losses, some early season growing pains right? Like maybe that does happen but at the end of the day I am very very confident that Baltimore can go out there and at least make the AFC championship game this season. Assuming health continues to go in their favor, you know we saw the domination of the preseason with backups and again yes it is backups it's preseason but you know the Ravens also were playing with backups. And I think it just also goes to show that Baltimore's depth is a lot better than a lot of these teams in the league. That's another part of the roster that I love and even the practice squad that I love right? Like there's just this roster is incredible you know like it is an incredible roster. And I think then when we look back on this season if everything does go well for them we can look back on this roster as one of the best and Ravens' history all things considered. You know like it maybe I mean that I feel like I said I don't want to get ahead of myself and I just got ahead of myself but again if everything goes right if everything goes right that's what maybe we would say.

18:38But you know we'll have to wait and see why you play the games. You know I had a lot of confidence last year. I didn't work out. I have a lot of confidence this year.
