The show is back Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterlin for the next five hours. We are all yours, baby. We got a lot of rain in Cleveland and that might impact the whole double header thing, but we'll see how that shakes out. We got just over one week's time until the Browns and Jack wires actually get underway down yonder in Jacksonville. The waiting game continues, but college football is officially back Ohio state is back this weekend and we got a lot to talk to including. I remember reminiscing a little bit about the the fantasy last night, but that open courtesy of Jack's Gregory on the board. Yes. Hi, Jack. So it's good to see you, buddy. We got Jake Marin, man in the 92 three, the fan YouTube channel and producing is always you can listen to all five hours on 92 three, the fans on the station. You can also listen back on the Odyssey app. We're listening in real time. And you can watch us in real time. All five hours up there in real time on 92 through the fans YouTube channel.
Subscribe to 92 three, the fans YouTube channel. Ring that bell. Stop you corn, Lido. Suck it corn, Lido. There's always like our videos. We desperately like to be liked around here. And we got Riley Taina on the 2020. Today, Jack's going to be able to keep a straight face, buddy. When you love, Jack's just such a good groove. Yeah. That when Jack smiles and laughs, I smile and laugh. And that's a good sign. That's that's a, you're a special young man there, Jack's, but you kind of set me up to. You did that to yourself. I did. I did. I did. I know. Taina. Taina. Taina. Every time I hear it, I think of. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I get it. Yeah. Yeah. You hear it too. Taina. Yeah. No, I got it. Hi, JP. How you doing? Hello. How's it going today? Oh, it's another day in the neighborhood. It is. It is. Had a lot of fun last night. I did. I did. I am, I am tired. So I'm, I will do my best to deliver five hours of energetic, opinionated, fun sports
talk. I did not get home until about 11 o'clock last night. We woke, we got about six hours of sleep, which is good. That's not bad. But then we tried to go back to bed after the kids got on the bus today. And we were not having that. So we are, we're raw dog in the show today a little bit as the kids would say. And now that being said, that was a lot of fun last night. And I don't think anyone on the station has talked nearly enough about Andy Baskin starting the event on YouTube by calling Ken Carmen and A-hole. Yeah. That was, that was something, wasn't it? Yeah. Was that your favorite part of the event? It was very well might have been because I don't think what I like about it beyond the obvious is I really liked that I don't think Ken sought coming at all. No, he was completely blindsided by it. That made it really humorous. Yeah. That's that's where we're at. He also, that Baskin said it. If we put like the big board of who was most likely to drop an expletive to start the event, I kind of think Baskin was like a plus 3000. Right. So here's the problem or at least the setup.
So a yesterday, Baskin's kept me in like, oh, who would win in a fight? Is it Nick? Is it Ken? Is it Anthony? Is it Jonathan? Oh, morning show versus the afternoon. The brew off in the ages. And then we all sit down and we're getting ready to be very proper and just kind of like do like, Hey, go go 92 three of the fan and Baskin stands up. You're in a hole and you're in a hole in your day. Yeah. And it only Ken. As if he had his mark picked out. Who knew he has been waiting 15 years to say that to Ken. Oh, no. And then we, we also found out that Jeff Phelps is seriously like protective of Roman sessions. Yeah, that was funny. Lime. Lime. I'm a sad. Just all Lime. I said was, ah, Roman sessions was on that team. And Phelps was like, don't you say a thing about him? It was like, we stopped that there. Yeah. He was so serious about it. No, he's like, don't you even think about going after sessions? I was waiting. I don't even do it. Jack, you want to love it? I was waiting for like, like, like a smirk. Crack me up a lot during that event. I don't know that everybody else is loving it.
I was a love and Phelps in that event because he was so like, so Phelps. It was just so him. It was so perfectly him and I loved it. Even today, him still being very disappointed about people cursing at the event was probably the most on-brand Jeff Phelps thing ever. Yeah, it's great. Absolutely great. Because here's the thing I wanted to hear Jake Volnick curse last night. And that was the other thing because, you know, Baskin comes out with a hole just immediately. Yeah, right out of the shoot. He tosses a grenade in. I'm like, all right, now it's time. And I mean, I, you heard, you heard one and then I, you could tell. I threw a couple out there. You could tell you wanted to get in the action. And then it like, there was a time where I was like, I got like four curse words here and we're like maybe 25 minutes in. It kind of felt like when a radio host first goes on serious XM radio and realize they can do that. Or, um, I almost mentioned a very specific name. Or like if somebody does like a YouTube only show and they just keep coming up to the point of cursing, but oh, oh, I'm not going to do it.
I could do it because it's on YouTube, but I'm not going to do it. Okay, then. What are you thinking of? Nobody specifically. I'm just saying like kind of like you with a serious thing. Just kind of saying when they get a chance, when they get a chance to go, they go. I thought one moment, no one has delivered. Why I'm a good, a nice job. I'm seeing that was a much, a lot of time for me if we're being honest. Now, the funny thing, I don't know if you notice this or not. And so we had a little bit of a mic issue and there weren't as many mics as there were people and so a couple of kiles though. And so, so why I'm a would like give me the mic or then give Darryl the mic who would off to his right anytime there was a moment that he felt like, all right, you guys can chime in. And it was basically any time he felt like I was getting ready to like, basically go after Ken and some sort of way, all of a sudden the mic became open. All of a sudden it was like, oh yeah, yeah, I didn't think you have a point on this right? You're on a bend. Oh, okay, all right, good. Yeah. Now we have an opportunity, that's great. But no, there's a lot of fun to everybody that showed up. We appreciate you. But if you weren't there, again, I thought Jeff made a great point today when they were talking about it on their show of like, you know, as many callers as we have,
we know that there's, you know, 10 times of people that listen, but they don't call in, but still support us. And so to everyone, and this goes to everyone that has worked at this station, including people that don't work here anymore, that is a giant celebration of everybody. There were eight guys on the stage that got to take the credit for it and got the love for it. But I mean, it is 15 years in the making of love and hard work and passion and fighting with each other, driving each other crazy, making each other laugh. And it was, you know, to be on that stage at any point in there, it was definitely an honor to represent the station. I just really, it's a really special thing. And I don't want to get sappy here or anything like that either. But like I always tell you, I feel like I'm the new guy here constantly. And I've been here for 10 years, Nick. Well, I've been here 10 years of built a family built everything in Cleveland. And in radio terms, being in a spot in 10 years, you're the oldest guy at a radio station. If you've been there for 10 years, I'm still I'm the new guy to all of you guys. Yeah. And that's what's fun about that. Like you don't, you don't have stations that are built like that where you have Ken that's been here
from the beginning, you that's been here from the beginning, Lime up from the beginning, basketball and felt all from the beginning. And it's, and again, Jake's obviously newer than I am. So he's going to have some of this and it's going to at 10 years from now, he'll be laughing the same way I am. I would say you're never going to escape the new guy mentality. But stations aren't like this across the country where you have this many people that have been at a spot for as long as we've had it. And I just, it's something that's really special. That's actually where I do get very weepy about this for as many shots as I take. And as many things as I've said, I mean, baskets, kids were little when the stations started, you know, they were younger than my kids are now, right? I you came here single and ready to mingle and you found a lease and you had kids. My kids have gone from one year old and then the twins were born while I worked here. To now I have a teenager and two more teenagers on the way in about three months time. So it's just it's hard not to look at that and just get a little misty eye there. Yeah. And you just don't see that in radio where you can have that many people that have all
lived through the lives of each other's this the that same way. Because in radio, again, like 10 years at a place, I'd be the oldest guy there by a long shot. That's just not how it works. And so it's a special that we have that. By the way, on the caller side of things like Chris in Chicago, like this. Yeah. There's all sorts of guys I just never thought I would meet when we do these events, we've done so many different like tailgates and we do remotes and it's a lot of the you get a lot of the same guys that come out and we always appreciate that and we do love that. But you know, last night there was a lot of guys. I never met Demos before like a lot of callers we've had forever that just came out and I thought that was awesome. And we got to say Demos tried to pull the card of, you know, it's been Demos and Shaker for 15 years. He's like, I'd actually tell the boardops, it's now Demos on Shaker. Yeah, well, and I was like, I was like, I can't do that seal. I can't, you know, I listen to Prince, I'd love to go ahead and change your name, but you're Demos in Shaker. I can't get to the on Shaker. That's too much change for me. Yeah, it was very cool, very fun. I'm sure I, I just one of those nights you just, you'll remember for a while is great.
I think we should do it again next month. You just want some month. Yeah. But maybe, maybe we just don't invite some people. No, actually, that's it. No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Well, because I think that was my favorite part of it is there was some ball busting going on and there was some needling and I will tell you, I was not planning on being that cagey, but we just did five hours. We stepped right into this scenario and you boy, your boy hadn't eaten. Yeah, I didn't eat either. And you boy didn't eat all night. Yeah. It was kind of, I mean, I compared it to like your wedding where just there was so much going on. Anytime you tried to make it over there, it just never happened. But like, so what ended up happening is by the end of that after about the seven and a half hours of talking and Keith actually shorted us a half hour in the, in the email today. I'm not a special shout out. I feel like we always get shorted in those emails. I never get mentioned. I like that we got mentioned. It was a very nice shout out. It was nice. It was seven and a half hours of talking. By the end of it, we ended it when we needed to because another 30 minutes in Nick Wilson talking and I would have been in like a suspension handed out or, hey, we have this, you, you
saying this thing on YouTube? We needed a handler is what we needed. We needed somebody to be like, now here's the food. Let's put the food in front of you. Now you guys eat and make sure you take care of yourselves because we stopped. We stopped. You're wedding analogies great and perfect because it's exactly how that worked. But we stopped taking care of ourselves. Is there reality in that? And more than what we're supposed to take care of our own selves. But we just stopped taking care of ourselves and instead just talked to everybody. But no, it was, it was seriously great guys. It really was. Thank you for coming out. Anybody that supports the station. Thank you. And into everybody that showed up, whether they're in every day, you know, host, whether you're a part-timeer with us, we thank you guys as well. And I know sometimes I can be very irreverent and dismissive of things. It is so cool to work on the station and to be here 15 years in. And I don't think I'm making it to 20, but we'll see. Why aren't you making it? That's what there's only five years from now. You mean like physically, you're not going to make it? No, I think I'm going to make it physically. Okay, good. I know that you'll be here.
Okay, good. I say a lot of things. Yeah. And that eventually catches up with you. I am kind of the ultimate volume shooter of just bleat tall. I know how this is going to go down, don't you? It's like it. It won't be today. It won't be tomorrow. No, you're the one that says like 10 wrong things for my one. I'm the one that's going to get sniped. That'll be funny. It's going to happen. It'll be something I say is the one that gets us. And then we like wait, well, hold on. We knew somebody on that show was going to get caught saying something wrong. And I would come out. Jonathan that said it. And I would come out the day after and I would cut a scorching promo. And I would say this is a family man. This is my best radio friend. How dare you do this to him. He deserves better. And I would say like 10 things worse than what you got fired for. No, you have an easy out. And I would get a promotion. You have an easy out. You just be like Jonathan's a company man. And as a company man, he'd respect me taking the company line and saying, well, not everything in life is good. That happens. I think we both know that's not happening.
Sometimes changes necessary. Sometimes people need to be punished for their words. I think he given his best take on the air so far. That was mine. I didn't think he had another one in it. 216-474-0092. And it will. And says at Jake Peterlin on social media, social media reactions on ex powered by Shyve and jewelers. Cleveland's premier jewelry store. We got quick hits coming up at 240. We got Ohio's Tate. That's Ohio's Tate of barstool sports. He's got his punishment list for the Ohio State schedule. We're going to get to Jordan Schultz. Actually going to join us. Late edition here NFL reporter at 420 today and then Bobby Carpenter coming up at 6 o'clock today. Former Ohio State linebacker and 97 won the fan in Columbus. Big 10 network analyst as well. We'll talk. Ohio State with him as well. 216-474-0092. Big thanks again about the fan aversa when we come back as the quarterback position made this Brown's team unlikable and should it in five minutes on 92 through the fan.
Quick hits coming up in about 20 minutes. Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterlin back on the fan. Still waiting on a Guardians game time start there. We'll see. It really doesn't look that bad outside right now. I haven't heard some any, any thunder rumbles now. Once we have a first pitch time, of course, we'll let you guys know we do have to have the Travis Pazana conversation today as well. But again, quick hits coming up in about 20 minutes and the, the Dishon Shedore conversation rages on. And I think what is surprised me about all of this because I've known the starting quarterback for the 2026 season was going to be either Shedore or Dishon for like six weeks or six months now. So I even, even though I still was pretty enraged when they actually named Dishon the starter, I've known it was a possibility for a while. And so what my preparation for this season is been JP is I'm taking whatever I feel about Dishon and putting it over here.
And I'm not allowing that to contaminate what I think about Mason Graham and Casey Concepts of the season and Denzel Boston. And I'm trying to do the same with Todd Munkin, by the way, because it's, you know, two weeks of Dishon, is it worth my feelings for the next four years, potentially about a Todd Munkin. What is stood out to me and what certainly stood out to me last night talking with a bunch of people at the fan ofversary and just interacting with Browns fans on social media heavily these last couple of days as we start doing predictions and teams to years and all this stuff. Uh huh. It's just how many people are not doing that. The whether and it's not just Dishon, by the way, but it is either Dishon and or Shedore, the dislike from Browns fans for one, both or either quarterback. I don't know. I said either after that, but has impacted their feelings about how much they actually like this Browns team, which kills me. Because if we just separate the quarterback spot over here, I think there's tons to like with the actual Browns team themselves.
Yeah, but I think it's, I think it's really hard. It's been hard for myself. There is a lot that I like about this Browns team, but it's been hard for myself to say like, oh, I love everything about this Browns team. When I know I don't love the quarterback and Dishon Watson. And I think that what he's done with his play over the previous few years is just enough for me to get angry about the whole ordeal. And then in turn, because they make the decision, you start to question some of the other people in charge. Like I liked Munkin initially. You like him more than I do. You always have. But I like Munkin. But as we've moved on with this and the decision has been made, it makes me question whether his judgment is right to all these other things. And then it makes me question some of the front office and it just, it, it, it just puts a damper on all of it. Yes, it does. And I think this was highlighted by the cat Hickman thing. I don't think anyone would have cared if the, if the Browns had, but name, even Kirk Cousins, who I don't know any of us would have been crazy about, but if the Browns had gotten Kirk Cousins this off season and brought them in and he was automatically the starter, I don't know the cat Hickman thing on social media goes the way it does.
The people are looking for any place to put their rage about this Browns team. And I just, I think what's so easy for me to compartmentalize one again, I had six months and I, I did make sure to listen to every time they told anyone that would listen. I shot it down and said it's absolutely insulting and crazy, but I listen to every time somebody from that organization said nice things about Dishon. Right. I just disagree with it. But it's not like that. So I've had time to, to really prepare for this, but like, I don't know, I come back to listen, if we get eight weeks in and he's not playing very well and there are one in 17, I probably am going to have a really hard time with this, but I'm just airing on the side of if he's playing that bad. And so this is where you can't have it both ways if you're Todd Munkin. You can't say Dishon gives you the best chance to win. And if he comes out those first two weeks and he just looks non functional or he just looks like he did in that second preseason game, there's, you have no chance.
Like you keep talking about in your, and I understand why you're saying it. And I, I think you're saying it for good reason, but you keep talking about they need, you know, indefatigable proof that Dishon is a broken to. I'm the one who I like my word better, but was your word indefatigable? Okay. I said, yeah, make sure I agree. Okay. That's fine. It cannot be defatigable. Sure. But I, I, I think you can get that in two games. And I think there's a strong likelihood that they're getting it for two games. So I just, I can't bring myself to be like that guy is going to poison one more second about how at least the players are saying here's how I think the front office thing. But when it comes to these players, I think, I think we're going to end up loving a lot of these guys. I'm really excited to watch these kids play. I want to put this in cooking terms for you since you like to cook. Okay. You ever have like a great dish and you have, you use all sorts of nice meats and you have all sorts of nice sauces and all sorts of nice, I'm just trying to put this all in a boiling pot together. Okay. What is it? It's just meat and sauces.
Meat and so yeah, just do. I'm making a nice, I'm making a nice stew. He said cooking. We got, we got meats. We got sauces. We got all sorts of things. You got spices. You got a real cage and flared of this. Okay. I know the ones that are still in the pot. There's a more of a gumbo. I know you're a cooking guy. You really want the difference between a stew and a gumbo. Okay. Here's the problem. Dishon Watson is the salt in this equation, all right? And we put too much salt in the dish. And so is the whole dish bad now? Yeah, you put too much salt in the dish. It can become bad. And that's the Sean Watson in this conversation. But he has, he has, again, now you're food networking me. I need to give you a different food analogy here. No, I'll pick apart that one too. All right, let's do it this way. I'm going to put mustard on a hot dog. The hot dog can be good, the bun can be good, catch up can be good. You put too much mustard on the hot dog. We have too much mustard in this hot dog. It's too much. I can just wipe the mustard. It's too much. We put too much on. I told you, it's too much. But you wiped it off. I'm clearly not. I put too much in. Yes, if I get too hot, I'll do it. How do I get out on it?
If I put too much salt in stew, how do I get rid of too much salt in stew? Outside of just adding more beef, is that the idea? Yeah, add more water. Just add just a bunch more water. Can you see that? And we eat that thing out? And then basically you can drain the liquid and then we put the liquid in. You still probably have a little bit, a little bit, touch a salt there, but it won't be, it won't be killer. I got too much of a salt here. You've dumped the whole entire... You've dumped it with a towel. I got to do much of salt in here. The whole salt container into the... I found man. It all spilled off. That's a too much of salt there. It is. It's not like an oops. I just poured a couple shakes too many. No, no, no. Oops. The whole entire container of salt is now in this stew. This stew is not good anymore. No water saving this stew. That's to Sean Watson, okay? It's too much salt in the meal. The meal's gone bad. Other ingredients in the meal could have been great, Nick. Could have been awesome. Could have been the best you've ever seen. What part did I... Why? What accident did I do there? No. It was... It was... It was people could have accepted my salt in the stew. It was this. It was the imploring.
It was imploring. I get it imploring with my hands. I get it imploring with my hands. It was like Ernest Angelie was standing in front of me. You be he. Rad it to Dewey. Rad it to Dewey. The little mouse. Dumped all the salt in the stew. It's too much salt, Nick. There's no recovering with this meal. The meal's gone bad. Okay, but Sean Watson's the... If it's where... What is? But it's two weeks. Like it's anywhere from two to eight weeks. Eight weeks, it is, like I said, this is where I am giving it to you. If it is eight weeks it is going to be... It's going to be tough to keep that salt out of that stew. Thank you. Yeah. But two weeks, we're going to forget about the Dishon Watson era in 2026 by mid October. If Dishon wants in, I mean, I've been asked to be gone by two weeks, but I don't, I don't, I don't maintain this. I don't think that he's just going to be gone by two weeks because we, we hope in dream that that'll be enough in the Browns. I'll have the answer. I feel like I'm just using logic on that.
Dishon Watson is a broken toy and the Browns aren't going to be able to hide it with. Oh no. Well, great against Jacksonville when he threw four underceptions and flipped off the crowd. I understand. I'm in the minority when I say eight weeks. So I mean, I understand I'm in the minority when I say that I think the Browns are going to give it again, undeniable proof is what they're going to need before they, before they bench Dishon Watson. But let's wake up and say six, seven, eight weeks, whatever that is. That's a, we're entering half your season. That's, that's a, that's a whole bunch of football to have to watch with Dishon Watson. And yes, I do think it'll be easier to stomach. It'll be easier to take in when he's not the quarterback of the team. That's kind of the whole point. Wait, we're going to start to like a lot of these players a lot more when Dishon Watson is not around. I think we should like those players regardless because I think those players count towards the future more. And again, so maybe the point is, and again, I'm making an assumption here. So I'm, I'm instructing people to do something to not do something that I'm doing. If, if your assumption is he's going to start eight games, I would just stop making that
assumption. It doesn't mean you're wrong, by the way. You, I think you have a better chance of being right than I do. I'm just trying to stop making my assumptions. I think, not making your assumption after week two. No, no, that, I guess I'm pointing to my hypocrisy. Stop ruining my, my gumbo. But I do think like I just, if you don't know the difference between two games and eight games, why the hell are we then putting it on the rest of the team or putting it on a monk in? I, I just like, I'm not, I'm not trying to say enjoy it. I'm not trying to go full Paul Dolan because we don't know until he's actually gone after week two, we have to live with the idea that this team will continue to do the improbable because that's what they did all off season long. It sounds like snowballing to me to use a psychological term. It sounds like we're expecting the worst, which I get why we do it. Because that's what they showed us the entire time. I understand. They programmed me to think the worst is always coming because every time I try to believe in this team, they give me the worst. But it's this is that I wouldn't say all the time. It's been the last two years. And by the way, one of the guys who did that of this to Sean Wawson experience, they've
given me the worst outcome imaginable every time I, I understand. I don't think to Sean Watson defines this season because I think if he is that bad, I think he'll be out the door and Shador will be in the door. And I think and by the way, even if you don't like Shador, I think Shador might actually have a chance to play well enough. That's a different conversation. If he defines a season, if we look back on 2026 and we say to Sean Watson to find the season, that's a different conversation than how I feel right now about this Brown's team and what they've done and making to Sean Watson. How many times have we gone in with a negative attitude about a team and then whether anything other than, you know, 650 winning percentage changes are pinning on that team. Like I just, I hate to poison 90% of the gumbo for potentially 10% or 5% when eventually that 10% of the gumbo isn't going to matter anymore. And I think that's what the only thing Brown's fans have been hanging on to is the other percent. They've been trying to hang on to what'll happen with Quinshaw in this year. What'll happen with the wide receivers?
What's going to happen with the offensive line? We've been trying, but quarterback just matters so much in this sport that it's just hard to overlook at all. 216 474 0092 has the quarterback position made this Brown's team, unlikeable. I'm getting very, it's the gumbo. It's getting to me already. That's the salt in the gumbo. It is too much salt. I agree. Yeah, we should have drained it and put more water in new water, better water has new water. As the quarterback position made this Brown's team, unlikeable to you, quick hits in five minutes on 92, three, the fan. Mr moment in our show, use the rewind feature on the free Odyssey app presented by integrated restoration, your local experts in water, fire in storm disaster restoration. I'm not going to mention their comments because usually they are, they're filthy, but the special shout out now that we're 40 minutes into the show for the 92 through the fan at YouTube, Chatsy and a little Dallas cowboy there. J Dub.
That's not, that's not the J Dub. That's not the different J Dub. K slate David Bowles on other J Dub. I think we have two J Dub's there and David and Troy. All right. Big thanks to everybody for for showing out. You guys make the world go round. All right. No chaser today. On, I don't know, Corn Lido. I'm not seeing them right now. They take their Friday off early. I know we got a big weekend coming up, but are they taking Friday off to? I see Jake in there, but well, you know, some people just celebrate Labor Day harder than others. Yeah, I'm, all right. Good for them. You have people in radio that have four day weekends, by the way. Must be nice. Must be real nice. I was hoping it'd be us. Oh, no, I definitely would take it if it was offered, but it was not offered. No, I mean, like we can turn the show into our offering of it, but what's this done? How we roll? I mean, after that, just to do analogy that, honestly, I just sidebarred and just got argumentative about. I think maybe I have. I thought it worked. You disagreed. I'm glad you thought that.
You disagree. I'm glad you thought that. What part of it? If you weren't such a cooking guy, it might have landed a little bit better. You made the most generic. It might have landed better. You get some meats in there. You get some meat. You get some sauces. You get some spices. Yeah. Yeah. And Dishonel. It's a whole bunch of salt. You put some grain in there. You're like, oh, we get a zad water. We'll fix the dish. Oh, thank you, literal. Will we over there? Great. You're going to fix my dish. Okay, great. I think I already fixed your dish. What I should have done. Never mind. It doesn't matter. No, what should you have done? Well, I mean, if you give me a redo on the take to make it, to make it Nick proofed. Is that right? Can I do that? All right. Waiter brings a dish over. Okay. Because you're at a restaurant now. Waiter brings the dish over. Yeah. And it looks like a pretty good dish. You have there. You get a pasta. You got all sorts of stuff. You got already nice and tagging meal, right? And then, and then they come on over and they're like, eight, so. This is on the fly, by the way.
Yeah. Yeah. They're your nail on it. Would you like any Parmesan cheese? You know, we're at known as table. Like any Parmesan cheese. Can we get any, serve you up any? I've served that for that pasta that you're ordering. Can I get any Parmesan cheese? Would you like that? And you're like, sure, I'd love that. And then, just as they go to spill, you know, do the Parmesan cheese. Oh no, the whole, all right on the pasta. All right. That's not it. Yeah, that's not it. You've really really wrecked this one. This is so much cheese. You can't even comprehend. This is the whole, everything of cheese. And it's like, oh no, I mean, I can't, what am I doing now? What am I doing now? Did somebody put angel dust in the cheese counter? My dish is gone. My dish is gone. My dish is gone now. And, uh, and top of that, a whole bunch of sauce. And you had Italian. A whole bunch of salt just got poured right in there as well. And you eat an Italian food. Too much salt. To my back. To my back. To my back. To my back. Well, because the salt one works for a reason. Too much salt is gross in anything, guys. It's just, it's gross. And to show on Watson's the salt. And it's a great, it could be a good meal. So there's also salt and meal. Too much salt, I'll ruin all of it. And that's, that's the problem, guys. And no, there's no, there's no amount of water that can fix this stew dish that is apparently being fixed by our literal wooly over here.
Trying to make, uh, trying to make my analogy suck. Well, Jack, do you think he pulled it off? No, because if the cheese fell on it, it's just, it's only good. Yeah. Oh, no. Too much, too much cheese. Too much cheese. There is such a thing as too much cheese. We changed it up on the fly. This is like the guy from Jamira. I should have stayed with the salt breaking up with way known a writer. Because you guys know she was too chestily endowed and she'd like going to bedroom too much. Yeah, that's what you just said right there with too much cheese. You guys know the salt one worked. And the idea of the analogy. The idea that now I've given you one that was you can just just pivot off of when it was, it was, it was, it was bulletproof is what it was. I think not. I think not. I think not. This is like one of those preachers that like I can't be killed by this snake as I am driven by the power of the Lord. A snake bite something immediately dropped dead. That was your analogy. Most people would have been like, you're right. Too much salt in a dish does ruin it. That's a good, that's a good one. Let's, let's keep that going. Instead, I get a whole breakdown of all the different ways that a, uh, the meals just not accurate according to your interpretation of these.
One of these days you'll, you'll, you'll be a better cook little bugaroo. Yeah, maybe I doubt it. I'm an alright cook. I'm not, I'm not ever going to be a great cook. You got to want it. Yeah, you do. You got to want it. It's an effort game. I feel like the lot in the kitchen is an effort game that I just don't have. Same with the analogy game. Let's get to quickets from the latest news and rumors around the sports world. You ruined it. To the sound bites you need to hear. Hey, hey, it's quickets. Let me say usually you're graded analogies. You should. It was a good one. You just ruined it. Alright, Bengals said coach Zach Taylor talked about something he secretly desires for his children on the fits with podcast. It is going to create a mental toughness for them. That's critical because they're going to face adversity. I love seeing my kids lose games because Brooks is in eighth grade. He's been out some tremendous basketball teams and sometimes they lose and change their game. And I'm, I'm sitting back to the thing and perfect. He threw two picks and they lost perfect. You know, because it doesn't need to be all easy going in high school and you've got to have some adversity.
And so I'm maybe in the minority sitting at stands, but there's sometimes where secretly, I'm like, let's take those losses, you know, and so you want to form a prugin high school. Have you secretly rooted for your kids to fail? Well, my kid is three and a half, Nick. Yeah. So I haven't come across a time. Do you ever just like when she's like trying to like sound out a word? You just go, that's not what this block is and I'm throwing it against the wall. Yeah, I don't think she needs that adversity in life. Yeah, I feel like I feel like she needs more people that proper up and make sure that she does all right. Yeah. But I also feel like even in the sports world of this, I understand wanting to build character. I understand wanting to build adversity can be a good thing. I get all that. But if you want your kid to play pro, which I assume is the is where they want him to go, I wouldn't want my kid throwing interceptions in seventh grade football. I just, I, you want to dominate. You want to make it where you, there's just no, there's no amount of mistakes that happened because most people that are going and playing pro just straight up dominate seventh eighth grade football and it's nothing close. I also think there's this, this idea that adversity, that the more adversity, the better I would disagree.
Adversity is one of the best ways you can learn lessons on this planet. It's also a great way to crush your spirit. So, you know, like the idea of like, ah, I was going to trust you the most. Oh, sure, I'm going to test you the most and I test me a little less. I've got, I need with a salt analogy. It's a lesson, adversity. Test me a little less. So it would have been bulletproof. Yeah, I just had to shot. Test me a little less on that one. Oh, my, ah, just accept too much salt. Pretty good. You know what? Pretty good. You're damn right. I don't want too much salt. Too much salt in there still. It's bad. It makes it bad instantly. Rutgers lost his 30 point favorites. Uh, Shionos is not going to survive this. I, I don't know why they didn't fire Shiono today. This is awful. And then not only did they lose to UMass, UMass was open 12 last year. And they won 3721 entering the game. FBS teams favored by 29 plus points were two two hundred and 13 and 0 since
two thousand and twenty four Rutgers 16 point win loss was the fifth largest by a favorite of 25 plus points is 2000 just embarrassing. What's crazy about this is Rutgers is kind of been Rutgers under Shiono. The same way it was the first time they had a couple high water marks. He's been right around a 500 team. So I was caught off guard by people suggesting this gets you fired. Because I've seen good or I've seen good schools get popped off by a random team. That being said, UMass is a special level of dog butt. And they didn't have a single win last year. They were 0 and 12. They didn't have a single game last year where they scored more than 26 points. They averaged 11 points a game last year and they waxed you. I can't remember who did it, but the Michael Sarah doing the Tony soprano. You have you have you have you have. Yes, thank you. But I Twitter user posted that saying Brian Kelly when he gets Greg Shiono's job in two months. And it's you have no clue what be a number one is.
Yeah. He's a code switcher. Is this payback for that? Yeah. That's fine. That's fine. We're having fun. All that salt men's a little too salty. There we go. Nicely done. Von Miller signed with the Cowboys late in the offseason. It took all preseason to secure the rights to his number 40 from full back Hunter Loupke, who's won the number in Dallas since 2023. The eventual price at Loupke received a percentage of Miller's. That's not how you say his name. I'm going to press you twice now to be bet just that day. It's a lip key. Lipkey. Yeah. Well, he's a full back. I don't care. Lipkey received a percentage of Miller's chicken company greener pastures chicken. Yeah. Is one is potentially one season of wearing a number worth the upside of chicken for life. I thought this was pretty good swap. All things considered. You always hear about these valuations that I don't know. And I maybe this turns into like Nolan Ryan beef in Texas, where it's just one of the things like. The one Miller's chicken is just across the board and every grocery store in Texas and then a couple other states.
And it's just awesome. And the valuation is massive. It's way higher upside. I love this. You get them invested into the business. You give them. You cut them off some piece of that bread. This is this is good. I like this. Good, good swap. What I like about it is. Money is temporary. $50,000 is temporary. And that chicken stock could go a while plus. Also, thank you very much. Get free chicken. So it's if there's there's so many benefits to this. He's a fallback. He's going to need something to fall back on. I don't know that they're necessarily. I don't know if they worked out in the details how much free chicken he gets each year just because you own the. Part of the chicken company doesn't mean you necessarily get free chicken. If I own part of a chicken or meat company, I'm getting some of that chicken or meat. You know, this is a part owner of this chicken company, which is be for the modern names. Furthermore, why it's a good bet. Patrick Mahomes. Hmm. Mahomes a part of this. I think Mahomes is betting on bad chicken. No. I don't think you're going to. I think you're going to side with some quality chicken there. Yeah.
You think he just walks through and he can just pick a good chicken out. He's like, uh, that chicken over there is dog bleep. We've got money with it. He goes, this is the chicken of champions. And he got this whole like chicken of champions thing that is just hysterical to me. Would you buy, would you buy meat or chicken or anything like that just because of a, because of a celebrity that was on the cover of it or an athlete that was on the cover of it? I have bought Joe Thomas's bacanya because of it. Oh, a stand answer. There we go. Yeah. I mean, it does work. I mentioned Nolan Ryan's beef. When I first moved to Texas, when I lived in Houston, one of the first things you do is you're like, Oh, Nolan Ryan's on every package of meat in the entire state. I guess I'm buying some Nolan Ryan beef. You had some of Nolan Ryan's meat. Oh, my heart. A lot of people did. Yeah. A lot of people did. That was the 70s and 80s friend. A lot of people did. Just slaying that meat left and right. All right. This came out of the out of Minnesota. Kyler Murray has reportedly been arriving at Vikings practice on time. Mm hmm. And they're like good news.
He's showing up. The bad news part of this is that, and this is where Vikings fans, I think they're just going to little overboard, but I'm not sure. They go, it's never a moment sooner. And he's usually one of the first to leave when practice ends. And so he's not beating the charges. Remember back in Arizona, they put a stipulation in the contract when they gave him that massive deal that basically said the amount of times that he had to be in the building and was required to do actual studying because the M.O. On him was that he liked to play video games and he was not a first in last out guy. He was the farthest thing from a first in last out guy. If you're a Vikings fan, is it concerned you that Kyler Murray is basically being Kyler Murray at this point? Yeah, I think I think you're damaged enough from even though they've had a lot of success. I can understand if they're damaged by just the amount of quarterback hopping they've done. And if they feel like this game of musical chairs is eventually going to have them on their ass, I get that I do. Especially if this is the one thing Kyler Murray's known for other than being a micro machine, I get it. I get it. But again, if he's on time, I think that's I think you are, I think you probably are going to far with that.
He's not, he's not wait. He's never late. He's never early. But he's never late. And he never stays late either. You know, JP hurt people hurt, you know, you know, you're a J.J. McCarthy watching Sam Donald go off yonder and winning a Super Bowl. Kirk cousins being Kirk cousins, I get it. You have to think like it like circa 2017. Ah, well, well, I there's 2018, 2019 when they when they signed Kirk cousins, you have to think they thought we'll get one. In his next seven or eight years, we're going to get one Super Bowl. And then they keep getting close and then they just keep getting yanked back. They finished the year five and oh last season. Mm hmm. Finished on a real high for those nine wins. You have KOC, you have an awesome defense. They probably should want more in life. But Kyler Murray is what they get. I actually think they're going to be a little bit better than people expect. They're going to be better than they were last year. I mean, I think that's going to be an obvious, right? If you've got anything close to the defense of prowess that they had last season. Everyone anyone that seen my 2020 2016 tears will know on a little more bullish on the Viking side.
Good job going chat GPT on that by the way. I know. That is much nicer than in years past when you've made graphics. That one looks really nice. They also the one thing I had to get them to change is they did grades at the bottom. Okay. So like awful was like F and then the next tear up was like D minus and I was like. I got a couple I kind of couple all encompassing that's not like you're actually good or bad. Is your better or worse than expected? I had to correct chat GPT. It's funny how mad people are on that. It's funny how mad people get about a chat GPT when they're like. Oh, it's just AI slop and everyone gets all angry and it's like. Hold on. You weren't going to commission someone and pay someone to do to make this anyway. This is the perfect example when you should use chat GPT. It looks much cleaner. It looks much nicer and it's not as if it's not as if we're like. Oh, you're going to spend a hundred bucks on this to spend and make somebody else make it nice. Like no, that wasn't going to happen. You're about to get a lecture from Meredith on chat GPT. You better watch out. I'm going to not take that call. Is it time to have a conversation about Travis Bazzana? We're going to do that in five minutes on 92 three, the fan.
Nick and JP back with you on the fan here on a football Friday on an F law Friday. We got to talk a little Ohio state. That's really tough to say Ohio state with Ohio's Tate. Yeah. And again, and land the plane in the second name for whatever reason you might hear. I might not hear there, but Ohio's Tate coming up in the what we just say Tate. You can just hear it in there. Coming up in about 20 minutes time of bar stool. He's got his punishment list out. If you're not familiar, that will break it down. Coming up in about 20 minutes time. We also have Jordan Schultz coming up and just about, okay, the two at 420 and some guardians baseball within the hour should the rain hold out. But a big talking point here recently has been the play of Travis Bazzana. And obviously at one point, he was your lead off hitter in the last 30 games though. 218 with a 245 slugging percentage. Just no home runs, nine RBIs and 11 walks and 25 strikeouts.
Well, Mark turnoff. Yeah. Was on. I was good confused because his dad, no, it's my turn off. Mark turnoff. Mark turnoff is the radio guy. Mike turnoff, the guardians. Pended that this morning too, by the way. GM anything. We all do all radio guys. We all do that with your off. No, I just whatever. But one half of chernetti was on with the morning boys today and he did talk about Travis Bazzana and the struggles during a important season for the guardos. This is what we do every year. This is how we do it. We win with young players. And that means they go through ups and downs. By the way, veteran players go through ups and downs too. They're just used to going through it. But this is the sort of constant balance of performance and development. And we know who we are. We know how we have to win. And you see it with young guys like on Hell and Owl and Chase the Lotter and now Travis Bazzana and whoever it is, Brian Roqueo has had ups and downs this year. We are confident in the group that we have. We know that this is a group that can take us into the postseason.
And what are we going to have to make tough decisions about who plays every day that gives us the best shot of winning? But we know that the best team that we can that we can feel down there has the best version of Travis Bazzana on it for sure. I thought Mike came off a little defensive of young Travis Bazzana. And even and Stephen votes presser last night, I thought he came off a little defensive about Travis. And I don't mind it. By the way, I just wanted to note. It definitely seems like a sore spot to bring up the fact that Travis Bazzana in the last 30 games. And actually a little bit longer that has not been very good. Yeah, I take it longer than that. I went from July 1st on Nick and July 1st on. He's batting average to 23 on base percentage 319. Slugging percentage an awful 303. So that's that's two months of baseball right there. That's a, I mean, that's an extended time. That's 200 played appearances. He has not been good. And I understand why they get defensive. I do understand that made Nolstar team was for many stretches of the season. You thought carrying the team in certain aspects. And it just hasn't looked good for two months. And I think they're genuinely worried.
Especially when you look around and see everyone from that draft class having a lot of success. I think they're genuinely worried about where Bazzana fits right now. And they're not going to show it. Yeah, it's interesting. It's, there's not, when you run an organization, the Guardians way, what they've done really well is be able to kind of keep the temperature around the team at a pretty solid baseline. And what that allows you to do is that again, it's the idea of if you're proud of the team, if your process works, you have more swings in hits than swings in misses, right? The problem is this is a really big swing. It was a really important swing. Yeah. And listen, I'm not ready to panic on Travis Bazzana. But I've watched to now play second base for a couple of weeks now. And I think that's your second basement going forward. Provided you don't need to now a shortstop because Brian Roqueos on a milk carton himself. Oh, so that's the other side of this is if you go from July 1st, Roqueos numbers are worse than Bazzanas. I can give them to you right here. I have them, but they're, I've well going to not in I was going to.
There's no need to. But like they're, they're worse. That's the idea. They're worse than what Bazzanas numbers are since July 1st. And so if, if Roqueo was playing awesome and it was a real conversation, then I think it'd be interesting to find out what the Guardians actually would do because it now has to play. He's just, he's earned it. He has to play now at this point. Yeah. And I will say, I think when you're talking about a young player's confidence in this, and this, I know, nobody wants to hear this stuff. This is where I actually really agree with Mike Churnoff in what he had to say today. I know nobody cares about a young player's confidence or how you raise a very young team. I'm empathetic to the idea. It's one of the hardest things you can do in baseball while also remaining competitive. And I do, I think there's a chance that maybe Travis Bazzanas, you're left field or next year and not your second basement. Yeah, there's nothing you can do about that now. You have to live with the errors, you're going to have to live with. I think he's gotten better defensively by the way. I think he's worked really hard at it, but I think he's definitely gotten better defensively.
I know he's worked very hard at it. I don't know, I'd say better. Oh, I see a vast improvement from a couple months ago. I, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know how you don't see it. I think he looks much better defensively. Because they're still big upsies. In fact, I would be, I'm still so many big upsies that it's hard to kind of downplay the highlight moments. I could almost make an argument. I wonder if he's spending too much time on his defense and he needs to spend more time on his offense. Maybe that's where we ended up in this spot that we're in right now. And that's what I thought I had about Bonaylor for the first two years. He wasn't any good at the plate. That's giving him a lot, a lot of benefit of the doubt that he hasn't earned yet at this point. But yeah, I mean, like this is a, it's an interesting spot for them to be in with a guy they took number one overall. Well, and here's the, like, so this is where again, I'll come back to. I actually agree. You know, I made the point that it sounded like Mike Churnoff was very defensive about this. And I think voter is a little defensive about this. And that's fine by the way, they're trying to protect their guy. And that's the way you should.
He's so young. And this kind of goes back to the lauderd thing too, although he has had just a fantastic rookie season at the plate. They're so young and, you know, because of where Bazonia was drafted. And because of De Lauderd's injury, these guys were pushed a little bit. And because of that, they're doing a lot of the heavy lifting developmentally at the big leagues. And that is so stinkin' hard while your team's also in a wildcard version. I mean, it's not as maybe he's 24 though. I mean, like he's the right age to be up here in doing this. No, no, but in terms of like minor league experience, you look at how much, how many games he played the minor leagues. And he also had some injuries in there as well versus how many games were there. Broke you played before he came out or they prefer a but ton of minor league experience before you get to the big leagues. Bazonia and De Lauderd are two guys that have kind of jumped that trend for them. I do think that matters. I do think they develop mentally. I know, but you need as many at bats as you possibly can get. I want to encourage them to keep the aggressiveness that they've had with some of these guys.
And to track, because you're seeing it pay off. And I don't think Bazonia's broke because he, or at least going through a stretch here, that isn't great because he felt rushed up or anything like that. Like I mean, it's so many times we see these guys 24 years old. You need to be up here playing big league baseball, especially, especially if you're taking the place that he was. I think less about age and I just think about reps every day. And again, none of this is to say you're wrong, by the way, or that I actually even disagree that much. I just think like, all right, you guys wanted Travis Bazonia. This is part and parcel with having a guy develop at bats in real time. Like you are going to have stretches where a guy looks unplayable because this is the guardians have become finishing school for their prospects. I think there was a couple of things they did when they called up Schneeman as one of their last editions. And in that, Anthony made it abundantly clear the idea that they're not there. There's no room for at bats on this roster right now. They're they're in part of the part of the discourse and why they didn't make some of the other editions like Ralphie was that they don't have enough at bats for these other guys.
Schneeman's up for a reason and he got the call for a reason. Well, I think part of that is them telling you they want if they're going to lose, they want to lose with Bazonia and they want to make sure Bazonia gets the experience, Bazonia gets whatever experience that comes in the playoffs, anything else like that. That matters to them a great deal moving forward for the years to come. And I think that's the right response. Do you agree, by the way? Yes, yes, I would not be benching as bad as he's been for two months. I would not be benching him. I'd be letting him grow through this experience. I'd be letting him get at bats, get the quality at bats. And he's going to be a staple in this lineup for years to come. And here's the other thing. I think they're going to be able to do both in the end. Like they're going to lose a cup and it's not just Bazonia. As we mentioned, Roqueo has been Roqueo that there are a bunch of young players on this team. And there's not a great deal of consistency from day to day from week to week. That said, you might lose four extra games this year. I still think if you're into playoffs, well, you've kind of superseded your goals. You played all these young guys. You're getting them real time experience. Most of them are producing at a level you hope they would specifically chase the lottery.
And you make the playoffs like if I told everybody that go, sorry, if I told myself, hey, this is what's going to happen. What it what has played out through 140 games and all the young players and all the success that you've had, I would have been I would have signed up for this 10 times that I said, you would have been thrilled. Yeah, you would have been thrilled. The idea that they're competitive down the stretch here and you're developing the young guys. They're playing for a couple years down the line. I get it. That infuriates Guardians fans to hear because I feel like we're constantly telling everyone, yeah, one or two more years, but this year has been different and they've done a lot of different things. And it is about more so the years beyond than it is this specific moment in time. And again, you're still going to make the playoffs. I know I know for some reason people have stopped being impressed by that with the Guardians team. I think there is just a complete failure to acknowledge the circumstances that happen in baseball that impact teams like the Guardians more than it does he Yankees. I think the difference is like Oscar Gonzalez was a flash in the pan because he was never meant to be anything.
Like you look at some of the guys we've said, oh, just a year from now, you know, we will win this guy, but most of the guys that have come up and done that, even Quon, if first go as he's been, that was a fringe prospect. These are all like top 10, you know, top 10 prospects for you. Yeah. And some of them are top 100 or top 50 prospects in baseball major major prospect. That's actually something you can look at and go, oh, if this stays up like this and you guys get these experience and they and the experience doesn't crush these guys, you will have to lie the whole problem on why you haven't really been able to win the World Series isn't just about the financial side. It's that you haven't developed enough hitting, right? Somebody can send judge in Stanton against you. And at any point they can change the game in a postseason series. You didn't have an answer to that. Right. You look around this lineup. This lineup has some guys that can be that. And by the way, there's a couple more on the way in the next year or two. And I think they're not done. Obviously with that rotation.
That's where all of a sudden you really can cook with gas and maybe have a two or three. You're right. Fan grass right now, by the way, has him at 43% to make the playoffs. How you feeling about that? I mean, it's kind of where I have them pegged at the moment. If you're being truthful, I it's close to a coin foot for me. That's why these series coming up, especially these games against the Tigers are so impactful. We're really we're crushing this down to a 20 game season and the problem that I'm running into anytime Parker, message takes amount. I feel really confident anytime Gavin Williams takes the mound except for a couple times ago. I feel pretty good. When we get to the Bible, can tell a part portion of this and even foster Griffin to a degree. I feel less confident about it. This is where I get to call back to fan graphs being bleep and nerds and say the guardians are going to make the playoffs. Is that right? Yeah. I didn't say it's just not the certainty that I feel like a lot of people are walking around expecting a bit. I'm 60% I'm 60% sure. Knick graphs says 60% yeah. Yeah. Nics are dumb as to saying a 60% chance. I like when Nick graphs is like 75 or 80% they take two today.
We're going to get up to 75 77% who knows? See how I feel it might even flip that much for fan graphs. That's how close this whole entire thing is you take two games and all of a sudden it changes everything. They're numbers. They're not. I got my numbers here. It's not a it's not a person. It's numbers. Well, Ohio's Tate. Good job. Barstool sports in five minutes on 92 through the fan. The best part of being able to watch anyone do 2020s is I just got to see Mark coach talking about the changes to Hall of Fame voting. Yeah. And when when describing sweeping changes he did actual air quotes in studio. I was like, no, pretty much everybody is explaining them as sweeping changes. I don't think it's like I don't think anyone's like sweeping changes, but he even did it. If you listen back to that, do I you hear the the quotations? He's voice. He's like the only person in the world that has a problem with this. I think so. I think he's mocking it. Probably is a really serious dynamic thoughts on this.
That we just don't ever need to explore. Yeah, because it's the Hall of Fame. It's my guys made up and they're just kind of museums and they're great. You should go to the football Hall of Fame by the way. Right on the road. The Hall of Fame village is awesome, but he shouldn't be upset about the voting. Belliceth got jobbed because he's a freaking weirdo and that is just bearing fruit every day. But we're going to go ahead and switch gears here. Well, keep it in college football. Just leave it away from the Belliceths and the cocaine and what nots. And of course, Mike Lombardi's rug Ohio State gets underway this weekend against ball state. And our next guest is not only a Wadsworth grizzly. He's not only a Cleveland sports fan, gigantic Ohio state fan. And he's got he's personally guaranteeing the Ohio State Buckais will go 12 and 0. And for each game they would lose. He has a specific punishment. That list is out. We go out to the wise heart. Right. We make it right. Call Kyle right hotline. And welcome on Ohio State to go ahead and talk of bar stool of these punishments and the buckais.
What's up? Boys what's going on? I'm making my own afternoon drive home right now to Columbus. Just just passed under the welcome to Ohio sign. So I feel like that's a good omen. Oh, very nice. You survived in Indiana, which I think is a very important part of that drive. Yeah. I hope we survived the drive right now. We need to survive their punishment here when we go back to Bloomington later this fall. See, it's interesting because I, you know, I was thinking for each potential loss. Maybe if it's like a more acceptable loss, it's an easier punishment. I mean, a loss to Illinois is you get a spray tan until your orange. Oh, I did just read, I just read the parenthetical that your engagement photos of the very next day. You know what? I'm going to walk that one back. That actually orange crush is a brutal punishment. Yeah, that's that's hands down. So so my fiancee were getting married at the end of the year. My fiancee get one veto a year once I come up with this punishment list. And she she wanted to use it for Illinois so bad, but she's rolling the dice that if at home it should be a night game.
She thinks we're going to beat him. So she vetoed my initial Texas punishment because we're dogs in Austin. Illinois was almost losing at half before I got hell marry last night. I think you're comfortable. You think you're safe with Illinois. Northwestern one is the one I'm interested in. The entrance exam one. Take the ACT until you can average admission score Northwestern. 34. You're a smart guy. I know you're a smart guy. I mean, that's what if you just don't get it, you just think like practice tests until you do eventually get a 34, which which is that's going to take you forever. Yeah, I mean, the internet's all over for me for that one saying 34 is impossible. 34 is impossible. Yeah, I would have to take it every single time it's offered until I get it. I mean, I think that's the thing that I keep reminding everyone not everyone has that wadsworth grizzlies education. It's good to go point. They push you there solid point. Right. So we're so we're 99% of the world thinks 34 is unattainable. I think I'm I think I get a tuner. I think I go to class with a bunch of 16 to 18 year olds trying to get into school. I think I get it within a year.
All right, I do want to talk about the Michigan one before we get to actual house stayed here because nipple piercing and I just want to I just want you to know, take this is we don't kink shame on the show. We don't lifestyle shame on the show. If you just want to get your nipple pierced, you can and we're going to support you through that. You don't need to put this on the line for this game. We're basically convinced everyone just say they have their kinks. They have what they like and this is their way of getting that accomplished. Is that all this is for you? No, that's a salt. That's a salt. Boys, you got to be on my side on this. But the internet tell me that like dude, you can just do it if you want. No, I tried to come up with something relevant. I tried to come up with something that wouldn't be the last year. Are supposed to be walk home for man are around. If you remember, it was a absolute blizzard. So I couldn't do that this year and I said, all right, fine. We'll do the Ryan day nipple piercing. But no, to be on record, I do not want a nipple piercing. All right. Which one is actually going to be the one that I like to compare things a lot? I was thinking nipple piercing versus getting a vasectomy.
I think the USC one is fantastic. This might be just another one of you don't want to tell the fiance that you want to vasectomy. And that this is this is maybe again your work around. No, we want to have kids. We plan on having kids. But when you're 50 and a half point favorites, I feel like if we lose the ball state tomorrow, vasectomy is the last of my problems. Like you're probably it's probably going to be drive off a bridge on the way home. You know what I mean? Yeah, it'd be dead. Be happy and cheese. It'd be tough. It's. I wouldn't do that. That's definitely not a punishment. That's not on the list. That's it off the board. You can read in the rella story. Yeah. Vasectomy also drive off a bridge. Yeah. Yeah. Dealers choice. We should be fine. The one the one that I'm least looking forward to that I think we can lose one. If I do if we lose the organ, repeat would kill me. But USC. So my boss big cat, he gets a button that he gets depressed. And if if if I'm not he presses it says USC. And if I'm not in a ocean within 24 hours, I get fired. And so that that could be Christmas Eve. That could be the Michigan game.
That could be my honeymoon. That could be my wedding. So we're going on the road to USC. It's a seven point spread right now. That's something that could be a serious issue. All right, Tate. Let's get to Ohio state here. I'm a I'm a little torn because I actually think this is a great team. But like the people that usually that I start like hyping myself up with about the buck guys just kind of seem blah about this. I don't know if it is that ball state is week one. I think everybody expects them to be in the playoffs. But for a team with this much talent and this much upside, I'm not feeling the buzz the juice amongst my Ohio state brother. And I'm not sure if you're feeling that same way. So it's interesting. I'm with you. There doesn't seem to be around a lot of buzz both in the Ohio state crowd, but also in the in the national media. Everyone wants to point out that our schedules tough. And this could be the year that you know the street ends of 15 straight seasons with two or less losses. Or this could be a year that we missed the playoffs. But then you look and they voted as number one in the AP poll.
So and we bring back a Heisman, you know, finalists in saying we bring back a two time all American and Jeremiah Smith are offense should be loaded a thousand yard Russia and both Jackson. And I think the biggest thing about this buck I team, I think we improved at the offensive coordinator position 10 times over by bringing in Arthur Smith. So I think that our offense is going to be as good as it's ever been here. I am nervous a little bit that we were placed so much on the defense for the third straight year. Yeah, it's interesting. You know, you brought to my attention the all the on three list of all the all the media predictions and everything. And you're not on the list somehow, which I think is insulting the way I'm sure you think it as well. Only two guys at Ohio state and one of them is urban Meyer, which just kind of feels like that's a given. I don't get it. Isn't this team supposed to be you'd think this team would be as dominant as ever. Yeah, I really feel this. This is in Ohio State trolling. I feel like people have a Ohio State fatigue. I feel like we've been the gold standard of college football for so long right now that they just want to find a reason to nitpick us last year.
It was the schedule last year was the pace of play this year. It's going to be our schedules too tough. Instead of last year being easy. I don't know. I don't necessarily understand why this team isn't you know being sub sung their praises. We bring back so much talent. And we have such a good coaching staff. But yeah, people people want to pick everyone but the book guys right now. So we're an interesting spot here where I do think Ryan Day is going to get a second national title in Columbus. And I just wouldn't surprise me if it was this year because of everything they have on offense. I mean this could be I almost I almost feel like you can't talk enough about how great this offense could be. That being said, I'm in a weird spot of of doing the championship comparison thing because in my head Ryan Day still isn't the coach that urban Meyer is and still isn't the coach that Jim Tressel is. But by simple math, if he's got twice the amount of natties as either does it Ohio State it begs the question with one more nattie. Does Ryan Day overtake those other two amongst the all time great Ohio State coaches.
I mean, if you look at winning percentage and you look at natties, then any gets that second one. The answer is yes. But the one thing that that the outside perspective never sees is his record against Michigan is nowhere near what Tressel and Urban's is. And I think that matters to Buckeye fans. So ultimately I think that Ryan Day's best quality is he wins every game he's supposed to win except for that Michigan game. Whereas urban. Yes, I loved urban. I loved urban as a recruiter. I feel like urban got the boys up for the big game. Urban Meyer was known to drop a game. We shouldn't where we should have won from time to time. Ryan Day has not done that outside of the rivalry. And if he gets that second national championship, I think it's tough to argue against them. All right, we're making a real Sophie's choice here. Portano ecology and says you're going to $10,000 bonus bet. You got to choose one person to win the Heisman this year. Are you choosing Saiyan or are you choosing Jeremiah Smith? And that's a tough question. I want to know what you guys think is my thing is this Jeremiah Jeremiah Smith. I think has the opportunity to have the signature moment, the signature catches what he's also going to get double teams and double covered and triple covered.
And then Julian fans going to benefit from it. So I would bet I would bet Julian sand. But I do think that the national media would be more likely to vote for a Jeremiah Smith. What do you guys think? So it's interesting. I do feel like there's already a natural build for Jeremiah Smith. But this has been such a quarterback award mostly. I know there have been a couple skill players to win it. That it feels like if both are great, I think Julian, I'd actually give the edge to Julian sand by the time we get to the end of the season. I think Jeremiah's got the better story. And I think that that usually prevails with the Heisman. Hey, who's got the best story? Who do the writers know and respect and think to themselves? Jeremiah Smith is going to be a great NFL player. I don't know why this part is part of the equation, but it is. We don't know what Julian saying. And he was awesome last year and he did get Heisman votes. But I feel like I've had the narrative for Jeremiah Smith is just that much larger. I agree with that. And I think the narrative on Julian sand like I'm still riding with my guy no doubt about it. But I do think people are a little bit soured in the national media right now after chirping our easy schedule for 12 games.
And then in the two biggest moments, we lose, you know, 13 to 10 to Indiana because he can't get a quarterback sneak. And then he's running all over the place except for across the line of scrimmage against Miami. So I think Buckeye fans are still high on sand, but I do agree the national media right now. It would be more likely to vote for Jeremiah Smith. And I'll say this one more thing. I'm real interested tomorrow is 50 point favorites against ball state is Ryan Daygan, a force feed Jeremiah and start this Heisman campaign or is he not going to? Like if he comes out of this game tomorrow and he has 149 and two scores, then I would say Jeremiah Smith is going to be is going to be a favorite. But if he comes out and he's trying to rest everyone up for Texas, then I don't necessarily think Ryan Day's showing that he cares that much about it. I know there was a comment. I think it was Josh Pate that said it that there was, you know, he had heard a concern or two about Julian sand. I can't remember was like that dog in him or work ethic, but it was something that occasionally hear about college quarterbacks from time to time. I hear I'm gas in the guy up as a Heisman guy, but are you certain that Julian sand will take a step for this year?
I need to see him. I need the one thing I miss about my Ohio State quarterback and there's not a throw Julian sand can't make and with our receivers. I mean, it's going to be as explosive an offense as you're going to see in college football, but I miss the Ohio State quarterbacks when it's on third and one or third and two that we can just run behind someone and get the first down until I see it. Like if you've seen Julian sand and first he's not he's even smaller in my opinion in person than he is on TV. And I think that the will hours or the Justin steals or the cardale Jones or the JT parrots third and one fourth and one we just ran the quarterback. If we can do that, I think we're a better football team because of it, but right now I don't trust that it's going to happen fair, but counterpoint the internet's very impressed. He's dating a Pilates instructor. You're very impressed. Yeah, I think he's saying I think he's doing really well for himself. It's big big something energy. All right, I noticed there's no 17. I don't know. I don't know. There's no 17 to no board for the Browns. I noticed that.
Yeah, I was taking I was taking some heat on the internet for not having confidence in my team. I think it should be reverse. I think if they win a game, I think I think board noise should give me some sort of prize. All right, this is where I really get to surprise for each win. I like it. I don't I do like the idea. I'm just here to tell you get ready for an eight win team. Tate, who's your quarterback on that eight win team? Well, Deshaun is going to have two games fail miserably. And then we're going to should door it up and he's going to make some big mistakes. He's also going to make some big plays and it's going to be fun to watch and they will be competitive. You heard it here first. I hope you're right. I'll take the odds that the quarterback week 17 is not on your roster right now. I think and I think that your quarterback next year is not even the NFL yet. I think that I don't think either quarterback is your answer here. Are you disgusted that it's Deshaun week one? I mean, here's my thing is if if if should there was even close to the answer, I feel like the Browns would start them. They're taking so much hate so much heat and Deshaun is not the answer either.
So I'm not like disgusted morally like I get in the NFL. You need to play the person that you think is going to win the games, but I don't see the long term answer like he's not our quarterback next year. Everyone hates him. The city seems to hate him. He seems to hate the city. So that tells me that he must be better than shoulder Sanders on a day to day basis or else shoulder would be starting. All right, Tade, it's always great to catch up with you. You you bring wadsworth great pride. So thank you for that. I would say enjoy the punishment list. I think you're going to have to I think 12 and 0 is very, very doable this year. So it might end up, might end up having no punishment, which which I don't know like should there be like a punishment if there's no punishment. I think if we go 12 and I should be celebrated, how about that? That's fair. Yeah, let's give you a parade and that alongside everybody else in the same way when the Browns win eight games, I would like to be celebrated. I'll call in and give you your flowers when they win a game and I'll and I'll have you call in so I can give you your flowers. I'm going to go 12. All right, buddy, appreciate you. All right. Love talking to you guys. Say it, bye.
Ohio's Tate, their bar stool sports on the Wines Heart right. We make it right. Call Kyle right hotline. He's always a very youthful energetic guy. We really do like Tate here. Knowing that he graduated in 2011 does feel like a hammer to the back of the skull for me though. That's tough for you. Cool thing about Wadsworth is like my buddy Jason, my buddy Jason, my buddy Jason, if I just tell somebody, like within like a eight year range of my graduating class, if I just say, oh Jason, they'll be like, oh yeah, we know Jason. Because that's how Wadsworth is, even though it's become a very kind of big town now. And you graduate 2003. I know I graduated in a 0 4, but he graduated in a 5. So I've got a nice swath here. I can't that's in that that's in the eight year range 11. You got a little bit, you know, no. I don't think that's going to your range. The farther you get out in that, like a five year range, maybe it's probably three years. I might have stretched it a little bit there in the eight year, but yeah, from high school, I get like a one year range.
As people I went to school with, I'm like, I don't even know who you are. I was listening to Ross talkers podcast the other day. And he said it's the 30th anniversary of his senior year in high school. And I was like, that can't be possible. And I was like, oh, it's like 22 years for me. So that's great. Ross is almost 50. Yeah. Yeah. Doesn't look a day over 49. I never thought about how old he is. I just never thought about how old Ross Tucker is. It a lot happened to him once he already had 40 didn't he? He did a real life story. 40 doesn't stop you at all. 40s when you can really take off. Some are saying the 40s are your best era. Are they saying that? I actually am. It actually, yeah, life's never been better. I've been fantastic. I love that for you. I'm 37. I don't know it yet. Yeah. I'm gonna hang on to the 30s. You just keep looking somewhere saying the mid 30s is where you shine the best awful, especially if you have like small children just the worst. Some people say it's where you're really take off. Nope, not really. You're real stall out there for a while. I like all of our segments doing this. Some people say, well, you know what I should do? I should say, get a lot of text coming in.
I should just base every opinion I have based off those texts. Is that right? Yeah. I think that make really compelling like radius. You think so? Yeah, I think people will be like, this guy knows what he's talking about because the 12 guys that he texts with really have some opinions that he then gloss on. Do you know enough people at Wadsworth to get Ohio's Tate into the Hall of Fame over there? No. No. Do they even acknowledge his pray? Are they like my high school where they just act as if I never even went there? No, no, no, they've done some things for him, but the hall of fame. I like that. I like that. I like that. He deserves the recognition. He deserves these these broad day. You said a great joy to the school and a lot of notoriety to the nation. We'll react to what Tate had to say about Ohio State in five minutes on 92 three, the fan. I'm with you. There doesn't seem to be around a lot of buzz both in the Ohio State crowd, but also in the national media, everyone wants to point out that our schedule's tough. And this could be the year that the streak ends of 15 straight seasons with two or less losses or this could be a year that we missed the playoffs. But then you look and they voted as number one in the AP poll. So and we bring back a Heisman finalist in Stain.
We bring back a two time All-American and Jeremiah Smith are offense should be loaded a thousand yard russer in both Jackson. And I think the biggest thing about this buck out team, I think we improved at the offense in coordinator position ten times over by bringing in Arthur Smith. So I I think that our offense is going to be as good as it's ever been here. I am nervous a little bit that we were played so much on the defense for the third straight year. Ohio State, which is a what which is who is a what's worth alum there, barstool legend as well. Great stuff with him in the previous segment there. It's it's weird because I I'm excited about Ohio State football. I'm very excited that we're watching a bunch of legitimate football games this weekend, whether you think of how state ball state is legit or not. So I am very excited about this. I also look at this and go. All right. I like. I think they'll be in the playoffs and we'll see I feel like that is I feel like Ohio State is one of those teams one of the rare teams that because the expectations are so high.
The threshold for like getting super excited about them has gotten too high as well. It's interesting because I'm like on one side of it. It's like well, they have two highsman potentials or at least two people that are in the highsman favorite list before the season gets underway. They should have one of the best quarterbacks in college football. They should have one of the best coaches in college football. I always see this perceived that way and like everything stacks up for them in a way that should suggest a lot of good things will happen. But then there's some scary points there here that exist as well. The idea that they have eight new starters on the defensive side of the ball. I'd be a little worried about that. That defense average 10 points a game last year. They were dominant last season. And the idea that you're just going to replace that and expect it to be awesome Ohio State typically does, but it's just a hard ass. So much of their dominance last year was that I think Matt Patrisha is better suited for the college game. Sorry, I think he's better suited for what they want to do defensively than Jim Nolesus. I think Jim Nolesus a system guy and I think unless you have the exact right players to I don't think Jim Nolesus going to be a I'll be I had reservations about Jim Noles then didn't hate him as DC.
But watching Matt Patrisha with some guys having left the previous year have a better defense. It just blew my brain. I know it's so much of last year though even the Patricia part of this. It was what was smiling. I said blow my blow my mind. Yeah, it's fine. It's fine. It's been accomplished what you were trying to say. It was something worse. Yeah, you're fine. This isn't what's going to get you canceled. There'll be something far more problematic done the line. It's going to be fine. It's going to be far more like that. Of all the things you could have gotten Wilson. It's my biggest fear. Honestly, it's going to be like this. This is the one. This is what this is how it is happening. I can do worse. I promise you. Last year though, they were able to sleepwalk outside of the Texas game in week two obviously. But they were able to sleepwalk for the majority of the season. So even like Patricia's great as he was. Again, average. If fewer than 10 points a game last year and they're turning over this whole entire defense. I like Patricia. A lot of last year is not what this schedule is going to be this year. Six six teams in the top 25. They got to take on this year before we get to the playoffs. Like this is a this is a different beast for this Ohio State team.
Well, and I think I think what Tate said is true, which is that Arthur Smith over Brian Hartlein Brian Hartlein is a buckai legend. I beloved guy in the Ohio State community. And certainly got a lot of love here in Cleveland as well. Burn being just down the road. But I don't know he was a truly great play caller, great offensive coordinator. I think Arthur Smith is going to be a lot more in line with the chip Kelly kind of higher. Sure. And so you know, I think Brian Hartlein getting ahead coaching job was right because I think he might end up being a better head coach than he was a coordinator. I think I think that could be a real win for for Julian saying I think in under talked about part of last year's Ohio State team was the idea that against really good teams against good opponents Julian saying in that offense did not run. It didn't they barely scored against Texas in week two. They barely scored against Indiana in the big 10 title game. They barely scored against Miami. You have it's 12 points a game in those three contest neck like the average 30 game and all the other games you have it's 12 points a game against the three toughest opponent you had.
I think the offense is a lot of room to grow. And I think it's gonna see, but what's crazy about this is we're talking about it and it still feels once removed. Like usually like we start talking about the Browns or even you know Ohio State in previous years. Moist are talking about the more you kind of get gasped up. I just kind of I kind of this is there is an element to what the naysayers have said about college football the doomsdayers have said where it was like well you're eventually going to make the regular season irrelevant. I don't think it'll ever be irrelevant for about 93% of college football. I think Ohio State is in the 7%. I think they're a team that it's like yeah wake me up at the end of November and hopefully we Michigan and the playoff so I agree with your main point is that it just kind of feels like they're going to get to the playoffs and it is what it is. But I think this year is different because it's so stacked last year that definitely had that last year there was a I mean the Texas game was fine but there was a lot of there was a lot of nothing in a lot of that schedule six preseason top 25 teams in the schedule like I just think I every single week feels like a blockbuster you're going to get more invested maybe
honestly after the ball state game then you're going to Texas maybe that's when it kind of changes I would think so I would hope so you're right though there's not a lot of enthusiasm at the moment and again by the way I don't even like I. One I'm a little out on this Texas team because it's been described as the best Texas team that Sarkeesians ever had the best one since going back to the Vince Young Texas long horns and here's the thing they've had plenty of NFL talent in Texas I think the problem is Sarkeesian I don't think he's a big. And I could end up eating these words at this season I don't think he is a prime time coach I think he's a little over inflated I think honestly I think the argument that the morning show had about Ryan Day is he is he a great coach or did you just have great players I think that was completely miscast I think that's a conversation about Steve Sarkeesian because Steve Sarkeesian when it comes to big games does not deliver enough for me which is funny because we have a lot of college coaches that are that way like when you say Sarkeesian that you're right but I always think a Dan landing in that it is. I think a Dan landing in that in that regard now I'm like Dan landing is my new version of Sarkeesian doesn't win in the big game doesn't I think I think I was going to change that by the way I think I was really nice year this year so I'm trying to get ahead of it and then we'll see if you can prove me wrong but like there's there's enough coaches out there that exist that can't get the big game right and they can get the big game now.
1 6 4 7 4 0092 where's your hype factor for this Ohio State team and when we come back it might be something we have to do a better job of admitting about this browns team about Dishon Watson will debate that about five minutes on 92 through the fan Nick and JP back with you on a football Friday on an F on Friday we got the lead coming up in a bat one hours time but Jordan Schultz NFL reporter the Schultz report you know him you love him. He joins us in about 20 minutes will talk just a little bit of Dishon Watson will talk about the the browns leash with the Sean will also talk about the thoughts around the NFL on Todd Monkin is well once again we talk about this a big end of the show if you did join us last night the fan of her story want to say a big thank you to everyone that came out David Buster's in West Lake they were fantastic hosts. I I be honest with you I did not play enough games yesterday I really only did the pop a shot. I could spend a whole day there and the thing is you would say like oh you take the kids.
And that not necessary if they're there that's awesome but I would rather just go myself and just have a couple cocktails and just get out there and live that life. I joke we are I was walking around with Jake in the back before you showed up and and we're walking around and checking out the different games and everything and you just see like this random like it be like two guys over here two guys over here another pair of buddies over there at joke with Jacob like you all these women think that we like leave and just go cheat on them all day we didn't guys don't really cheat that often I mean some do I guess but like there's a lot of guys like me and you that instead we would just we just go out yeah we just go to David Buster's with our friends and that's like they're they're constantly we're always easy off we talking to some other girl what's going no. We're at David Buster's with our buddies because that's what that's what guys do we get the cabin coming up and I'm like is there a David Busters near Butler Ohio can I just I'm you kidding me yeah I get like maybe a party bus and just be driven there and come back party bus for the cabin. Oh yeah come on. Is there a far I mean is there one closer now I don't think there's one no no not within like two hours it would be very expensive party bus but I get it be a highlight though.
Yeah we'll have more stories from what was a very fun night there however we have been accused of not doing enough admitting that the Browns like Dishon Watson more by and we're going to play a derl piece of sound here in a minute but Lima today about half their show was them saying him specifically saying we're not admitting enough that the Browns just like Dishon more. Yeah I did play Albert's clip yesterday and it's like oh interesting then you know Albert says these things about the Browns and Dishon Watson and then the very next segment the afternoon show comes out and they'll just completely refute everything that Albert says and say they don't believe them and it's like guys it's not really that way at least my interpretation of isn't that way I feel like there's an acknowledgement that the Browns like Dishon Watson more it would Albert comes on or anybody else comes on. I don't get the impression it's because they're saying that they think Dishon Watson is leaps and bounds better than should or Sanders not necessarily it's more the idea that he does more things right now week one that would give a chance to win operationally it's not that they think he's a better quarterback overall and maybe that's maybe that's where we're getting this a little confused.
Um I don't know I just think like like him better is very loaded I think that's putting your own personal opinion on the Cleveland Browns I don't think the Browns have ever told anyone they like anyone better than the other more being more comfortable with the Sean and the reasons they've given have nothing to do with the actual talent of the player. Well Dishon's a veteran right so he's got more experience in other offenses that's a right now thing yeah the you know he's used to playing on the road in big environments that's a right now thing and so I think any time somebody goes well the Browns just like Dishon more. No that's you saying you like Dishon more and you're trying to put that on the Browns who might start Dishon Watson for two games. Well he's trying to build up this case that people unequivocally that go to the camps every day say that Dishon Watson is played better than should or Sanders and I don't think that's true either. Yeah the only people that have been consistently Dishon's the better quarterback have been the Browns.
Exactly and then again there's a perfectly reasonable and acceptable admission that is coming from me for weeks now and I think yourself for a little bit as well and the idea that yeah the Browns do like Dishon Watson and want to see what he can do week one. No one's no one's refuted that no one no one's ever tried to make that not the claim. Yeah the point is we're saying the decision making is head scratch is poor and we don't it doesn't make sense to us that's that's where we're sitting back and saying I don't I don't get how we got here. Yeah I listen I have no doubt that the Browns think Dishon gives them the best chance to win week one. I just have a big amount of doubt on what they're basing that off of I think the Browns have made a biased decision. I think even the way from the coaches show I think it was last week where Todd Munkin was like wow it really wasn't an open competition and then Shador improved so much. He kind of we made it an open competition right. Right right right that is an indication that this thing was cooked from Dishon Shador played his way into the conversation but never played his way to the starting role.
That again the Browns set out at some point whether it was Munkin Munkin and Barry Munkin Barry and the Haslam's whatever the conglomeration was or what sorry configuration was they decided Dishon was going to play and Dishon was going to start. And so for anything to go against that they had to be indisputable evidence that that player was better. We used to think it was a tie goes to the runner situation when talking about this a couple of times right right that's clearly not the case clearly not the case and we even said that yesterday is the tide of the runner thing is not that obviously if there was one it went to Dishon but it didn't feel like there was one Dishon won this quarterback competition. I don't know I don't know if he needs us to like say it louder I thought the idea that Dishon was starting week one was enough of an admission that the Browns like Dishon Watson also I don't know why it's so. I don't know why it's so hard for and I guess I'm just doing the show to Lima right now.
I don't know why it's so hard for him to acknowledge how ridiculous this whole damn thing is. He just wants to make it about Dishon versus Shador no no no this is Dishon versus Browns fans and the media really this is the idea of playing Dishon Watson ever again and I've used the word normalize now I've gotten you know the gently you know a fanny padded for for saying normalize because it's not a normal idea. Like it's normalize the Browns of normalize something that no other team in the NFL think about it they've got some bullsy, thoughtless, gallless teams in the NFL they do and the Browns have done something that I cannot Woody Johnson might be the worst owner in the NFL as in terms of a human being and in terms of his actual decisions right Woody Johnson would not be sending Dishon Watson out there for year five. And that's the guy like here's the thing I have my criticisms of how the haslums have done their business here okay I don't think they're awful people I don't really know them I don't really I don't really understand them all the time but I don't doubt that they want to win I don't doubt that they put a lot of money into this community.
These communities they showed a willingness to want to win so like I've always I've always given them credit for that they want to win I have no respect on any regard of Woody Johnson none which is very I me saying that never happens I have a fair amount of respect for the haslam family the haslam's problem honestly is the idea that I think they might just care too much. I think the part of I think any discourse we have with the haslam's is that they I think they might ultimately be a little too invested and it would be much better if they just you know ponied up as much money as they can and then kind of let the football people do football things but like I have a lot of love and respect for that family. I make fun of everyone so it's not just I make fun of them but I do make fun of everyone and certainly they've gotten their lion share but like I continue to sit here in awe of anyone that goes well of course they're going to start to Sean they could have this whole conversation could have been null and void in March it could have been null and void in April and organizationally they all came together and said
I had to Sean's going to be the heavy favorite and will give Shadour a chance to and so the idea that I just have to accept that they're right about to Sean when they've been wrong about to Sean at every single turn and they've done that they've glazed him up and not they but their PR machine has glazed him up it's a new to Sean we're going to the playoffs and they've been wrong every single time so I don't think it's insane that Browns fans and certainly myself and you were saying I'm sorry I'm not buying this particular load of crap that's it the distinction here is that when they tell people like Albert and Albert's right in his reporting he's talking to them and they're coming back and saying yeah we like to Sean Watson I generally do believe the Browns like to Sean Watson sure but where I think this gets a little confusing people is it's like well how can you possibly say anything that goes against what Albert is telling you is like well nobody it's the same thing that's coming from the Browns that we've seen for so long yeah it's a lack of belief in what the Browns are trying to push out not necessarily like a belief in the reporting or the lack of the information it's what they're trying to put out yeah if Albert Brear told me
I went to practice every single day and to Sean Watson was head and shoulders above Shadour Sanders that's different for me when Albert sang I know the Browns like to Sean Watson and they think he can still play I can disagree with that report the idea behind the reporter what the Browns are telling him yeah like we're not disagreeing that the Browns are telling Albert things and they're telling him that they like to Sean Watson that part is true obviously it's everything that comes in back of that part we do we believe that to Sean Watson is better than should or Sanders but I just think it's interesting and again like I think there's only one show in town that doesn't seem to get the to Sean part of this because they again I'm doing this just for Lima Lima wants to make this about Shadour it's not it's all about to Sean mm-hmm I heard a couple of cheers for Shadour yesterday at the at the event I didn't hear any booze that I recall nope but a chorus of booze for the show not just a chorus I swear a hundred extra people came in
to boo to Sean they left their games they were playing in the other room as well as now is now the time to boo to Sean all right I wasn't going to hear and listen I can't really knock somebody for having agenda or or being mad about something because clearly I am anybody but the Sean I think that's a reasonable take being anybody but Shadour to me specifically because and I'm not going to try and mock it because I don't have to live in those shoes but because he's the people that that follow him have said nasty things about about him on social media I'm sorry that doesn't enter the equation for my analysis of the Browns quarterback situation I'm I'm looking at the absolute lost causes of all lost causes that's what a noisement meanwhile the same people that I'll tell you everything in the world about everyone liking to Sean will also be the same people to tell you he gets he has two weeks yeah I make that make sense I again Albert was on with this yesterday even they did how can you have this utter belief and utter truth in to Sean Watson and then also say two weeks because there's acknowledgement there that to Sean Watson hasn't
shown the Browns anything in these practices that is warranted beyond just a very shortly I do like that there's a scenario where one of us is incredibly right and one of us is incredibly wrong that's like all of our show in general though isn't our show kind of like built around you mean us versus them yeah yeah yeah oh I just say in general I thought well I thought we're going towards a different path here in this in this topic you're right it's got it it's an all or nothing we're right or an all nothing well we could both be wrong we're probably going to split the baby for being truthful about it will be right on the disson inside of things and that the Sean won't be particularly good and then they'll be more right about Shadour than we are in the idea that we think Shadour actually has talent and the end result is likely going to be Shadour is I don't know you get seven or eight games not enough to even showcase what he can do and then we draft a quarterback in 2027 and so they'll say they're right there I'm not selling my Shadour stock I'm not going to do it I don't care the people think he's a little goofy I don't care the people question his whatever I'd be an odd time to sell
it right now. No I just I think again I think let me put it this way I think Shadour will be the best quarterback that sees the field for the Browns in 2026. I know that still won't be good enough for them to do again they're going to take anything but win a Super Bowl and I don't think Lyme is going to give him his flowers. But that's the point though that's the point I'm trying to make is that I don't think there's anything Shadour is going to be able to do that'll satisfy the well I would why am I saying I was wrong about Shadour you guys you guys swept all the discussions this year you get the Dishon discussion you get the Shadour discussion I think that's going to be a moving goal post nothing we both know that. Two one six four six if he loses bad we have the Dishon side of things. 0092 if we not done enough admitting the Browns like Dishon wants and more. No they want to see him again and I don't think they're making this decision based purely off the pure intentions of whatever Jordan Schultz of the Schultz report will talk us through the Dishon situation in five minutes on 92 through the fan. Nick and JP back on afternoon drive. Gonna go ahead and get into a lot of stuff
here in just a moment but I'm taken by this New York post tweet that was just an out. Michael Irvin makes impassioned defense of 49ers owner Jed York after prostitution arrests and my initial thought my interest did my first thought was I love me some Michael Irvin. He's great. I love his energy. I love I honestly love his story. My second thought was I don't know that's the character witness I would call to the stand. Yeah Michael's Michael's been in a lot of places and done a lot of things. I'm like some of the people trying to cover up for the fake 49ers player and just doing it and so on just such such a bad way. Yeah the playmakers been around long enough. I feel like I feel like you might actually have a good reason. Also I don't think I kind of want to hear it. I don't think you would fake it. So we'll go ahead and maybe this Emma said scrounge that up. Yeah that makes sense. Scoundrel that up and get to that later but we're just talking about the Browns quarterback situation. If you heard about this, have you seen about this? Have you heard about this? Apparently the Browns are going to start to show on Watson week one to talk about
that to talk about the Todd Monkin situation situation. How he's perceived around the NFL and more we head out to the wise heart right. We make it right. Call Kyle right hotline welcome on national NFL reporter. You guys can find his YouTube channel the Shultz report on YouTube. That one's that's kind of how that one works. A man of many jobs, many skills Jordan Shultz joins us right now. Jordan, welcome to the show. Great to be on. Well it's great to have you here. Obviously we've been talking wall to wall to Sean Watson for a couple of weeks now. I wouldn't recommend it but we are doing it. I'm just curious where you stand and what you've heard. I tend to think the Browns are going to have a short leash with him because I'm not sure how it's going to look on on you know two Sundays from now. My partner thinks they're going to have a longer leash. What are you hearing? I think probably somewhere in the middle longer leash has in what do you think?
Six weeks eight weeks half a season. I said eight weeks because I'm I'm thinking here is six weeks but the Browns take things longer than they need to often. I just think they're going to it's going to need to be undeniable for them that he's not the old version of DeShon Watson and I think that might take him six maybe eight weeks to figure out and I'm a two weaker. Two weaker. I yeah I think I would say somewhere in the middle let's call it you know if if after a month after the first month of the season he hasn't played well I think you could see I don't know if you'd see one directly after two I know there's some scheduling stuff too. The is the first home game week three is that right? Yeah we three yeah yeah so so you know you have that element too. I think when the decision was made it probably surprised some people but my feeling and my information going into it was DeShon was going to be the guy and then I think after the you know public comments the interview perhaps you know there was some more thought of maybe we maybe we end up going with
Shador but I think his experience will play a role and I think there is some hope internally that he can operate the offense the right way. One of the things that has been told to me that I think is interesting is you know Kevin's defense fees offense much different than what this iteration will be in the sense that his offense was a lot of play action a lot of you know significant reads whereas I think this offense I would expect the ball I would expect him to be able to rely more on some feel and timing and I I wonder if that can't make a difference I don't know if the DeShon Watson that everyone loves in Houston when he was one of the best young quarterbacks in football is still there but I I have to believe based on what I've been told that there is some version
of the quarterback there that that is at least capable of operating the offense and then in Sanders's case you know if I'm Cleveland at some point I really do want to know whether or not this guy can be a starter and I don't know if we know that yet you know there's a lot of people in the organization I'm curious what the fans think but a lot of people in the organization that really feel that he can do it and that there is an aura to him and an ability to run an offense once he really gets gets a whole of it and learns it so I'm fascinated is the fan base completely shifted toward toward Shadour is it still split oh yeah I know it's it's I Nick I would yeah I would say it's actually the leaning heavy Shadour yeah DeShon Watson's pretty pretty well not like he's just disliked in the city that's there's no other way to put it and Jordan it's not even just the off-field stuff it's the on-field stuff too this is now year five of DeShon and no pay off whatsoever yeah yeah I just I hear that I mean I think you know if you consider the fact that
they're gonna have a ton of cap in the next couple of years here and then next year's graph class specifically a quarterback and I'm the furthest thing fellas from a quarterback guru trust me but if you talk to anybody around the league they'll tell you there's a handful of potentially really good maybe great quarterbacks in the 26 27 class 27 class and so if you're Cleveland you you really do need to figure out if if Shadour can be a guy and be the guy and at some point you'd have to imagine that this season he'll he'll get an opportunity Jordan it's interesting we've had countless debates about win totals and expectations versus Vegas uh you know I actually somehow think my partner and I have ended up on the the more sunny side he says six wins I actually think they have a chance to win eight games because I love everything but quarterback in the schedule from everything you everyone you've talked to as you an NFL insider
here I'm just curious what what's kind of the expectation that you're hearing for this browns team is it is it top three top five pick I don't I don't think they're a top no I don't think so I think they're gonna be more competitive than that and I don't know if that's if how the fans would think about you know having a team that's the flirts with 500 I think defensively they're gonna be very very good I loved the the hire of Mike Brutenberg from Atlanta he's players love him coaches love him he lives in the building I think he was a great choice uh for DC and then in terms of Todd Munkin you know that was a hire that I think surprised a lot of people but it probably shouldn't have in retrospect in the sense that you know when when John Harboh went to New York his one of his top choices if not his top choice was bringing in Munkin to to be his guy to be his coordinator
and I think that should tell you something I think what also should tell you something is that when he left Baltimore there were a lot of folks in that organization who felt like he probably has had his his chance and and maybe he's too old to be a head coach but he probably should have gotten that chance and then Cleveland all of a sudden when things I think when South with Judinsky and he decided to withdraw and go back to Jacksonville I think they pivoted in a pretty quickly and swiftly to Todd Munkin because of his ability to just I would just say he keeps it very real he's very honest players tend to like that and I think what you're going to see at the very least is an organized football team and a competitive team so do you agree with the idea though that there's a for everyone that thinks this is a tanking season it's not that it's more they're going to try to win as many games they can and then ultimately I mean if they can't get there they can't get there but the focus is winning I think that's fair yeah I do you know I got so many so much
draft capital from the Miles Garrett's rate and I don't think we can overstate the impact of Jared verse I mean nobody's Miles Garrett but I was talking to Braden Fisk about this who's obviously was T.V. versus Florida State and we were just talking about what kind of player he is and how relentless he is and his professional approach I think Jared versus a bare minimum a 12-sack guy this year it was a worst-case scenario but I think he can get to 1415 so you think about that and then all the draft capital and obviously it's it's really cool to think okay we should go out and be a top five pick team and get a franchise quarterback but what if the rounds won eight games what if they won nine games and Todd Munkin maybe was the guy I think that would be pretty cool as well oh yeah that's what I want I don't I'm sick of losing Jordan I don't I don't believe in tanking I just don't believe in tanking I think I think yes you can get where you want to go but getting out of there I think is damn near impossible yeah I mean it's trying to think of an NFL team that has
really successfully tanked it's not common it's it's also I think it's a lot harder to quote on quote tank in the NFL just because like I don't know I mean you it's such a small sample size of games you know in the NBA it's time like 82 games and teams could tank and it's obviously a draft lottery but in the NFL like players don't take the only way that you could like successfully tank is if the organization just decided we're going to flat out pull it out bad players on the football field Brown tell a lot of good players you know I mean you mentioned the quarterback and I know that's a question mark but you know they don't need the quarterback to be an A or a B if they can get a C I see minus out a quarterback I think that's a that's a very competitive football team I don't know man I just feel like they're gonna surprise I've said this in the last couple weeks everyone's killed me for it but I do feel like they're gonna surprise some people well we love hearing that I and specifically then let's talk about any of the the rookies or anyone you think
is going to be part of the reason why you mentioned Jared verse obviously but for the rookies whether that's Fano whether that's Concepcion whether it's Denzel Boston is there anybody that really kind of stands out to you I mean the two receivers Concepcion is just you've probably seen in camp he's super electric in a way that they just haven't seen he's got that juice after the catch he's they and they love him I mean they love him they think he's a star and in Boston is like your prototypical X you know 64 to 20 you know I'm I'm from Seattle a big Husky fan I grew up a Husky and so I'm biased and I see him a lot Denzel Boston but he's a hell of a player you know he runs without he's got strong and he here he will be a really good receiver for a long time in the sleep so those two guys and then it should follow from from Utah he's one of those dudes too that like you know we kept hearing in the draft process that there's not this like rate offensive tackle or guard or whatever there's not a great lineman I think Fano
quietly was the best one though you know the Miami kid I went to the Giants good too but Fano was a legitimate top sim pick and you know he's he's going to be an anchor for them so I mean those three picks I loved and then obviously year two of of Swessinger is you can't overstate I'll be interested to see to what they do with Harold Fanon and what kind of role he has is he had a really good almost quiet rookie year and I would love to see him build on that and and juck into as well I mean like I said it's a lot of good young players. Jordan it's interesting you know we're talking about that I think this season is much more interesting for the Browns that I think I think some people just look at and go not they're going to be bad we'll talk next year I see a lot more variance here but I just look at the AFC North and I feel the same way like I'm not entirely sure what to make in Cincinnati new head coaches in Baltimore and Pittsburgh for the first time in 20 years like I you could you could spend me a bit of yarn here that the AFC North is back you could also spend me a bit of yarn that it's going to have a repeat of last year one playoff team and
that's going to be a one and done team. Yeah you can go both ways. I think most people inside the NFL think it will be a good division like you know mentor going back to Baltimore you always had that first year coach that gives you you know a lot of pop you know Seattle had it with Mike Mcdonald they won 10 games and then Raeble had it last year with with the Weenland I tend to think mentor is going to really rejuvenate that team especially the defense which was like bottom third at best and they were really bad last year especially by their standards. Cincinnati's I think the most interesting team because they've been really bad out of the start the last three years like o and three one and four two and five there's definitely a sentiment and Cincinnati that they significantly improve the defense they don't have to have Joe burrow outscore people 30 points of game and then obviously they're just they're finally healthy and then Pittsburgh I think is a wild card as well but I actually think it's going to be a pretty competitive division.
Do you ask me like who gets the biggest jolt though I think Baltimore is going to surprise a lot of people. I didn't want to ask you you know we got Ohio State starting tomorrow and we're in Buckuy country and I saw you talk to Geno Smith and Garrett Wilson and Keisha and Johnson and Geno Smith said he thinks Jeremiah Smith is he told you this is he's going to be the best ever that I mean that's high praise. That's what he that's what he yeah well keep in mind they're cousins so there is I said to Geno I said there's a really a bias there and he's known him obviously since he was a baby but I actually thought what Garrett said Wilson was equally as interesting because Geno said he he's always felt like this guy is going to be a superstar but then Garrett said that when he got on campus Jeremiah like basically there was this there was so much talk about who's this kid you know who's this who's this super talented dude and like if you really that good is the is the there's such a lineage of pedigree of Ohio State receivers particularly the last several years and he said that he thought he was like a man amongst boys and you know you hear that term
but then you actually watch Jeremiah Smith and you just think that I don't know if I've seen anything like this and the comp we sort of came up with was you know maybe the best receiver to come out since Calvin Johnson Keisha of course said he came out when he was the number one pick 30 years ago but that's the company you're talking about with Jeremiah Smith I mean he's he is as well reviewed a prospect as as it gets and you know he really will be in the conversation for the number one pick which hasn't happened since Keisha on three decades ago. Jordan obviously we're keeping an eye on Miles Garrett and the Rams after the big trade in June and I know you had Braden Fiske on pretty darn good football player there on the defensive line on the shoulder port here recently I was trying to think about any team that might come close to having the pressure that the Rams have on them Aaron Donald unretires the McDuffie and Garrett trade and last year you were a couple plays away from being in the Super Bowl that's how close you were in the NFC title game I'm just
like can you think of any team anywhere near the pressure that the Rams have going into this year. It reminds me of the suit like the the so-called super teams of like the early 2000s I mean Philly had one of those when they got T.O. and they couldn't quite get it done against the Patriots and the Super Bowl you know a lot of here's the difference all these like super teams I mentioned I mentioned the Eagles but you could go back to the commanders when they got Albert Haynes worth and they had all this ton of money in that defense I think Angela Hall as well all these teams were free agency based you know I mean the the the Rams did it they made two massive trades with McDuffie and Garrett and then they had the all-time you know unbelievable moment when Aaron Donald comes out of retirement so really no free agents per se I mean they they they they they signed a couple including Jalen Watson who's going to start opposite McDuffie they were teammates in Canada City but by you know all in all this is a team that is going to be made up of guys who have been there and then a couple a
couple trades so there's a tremendous amount of pressure I don't think any team is better equipped in the Rams because of the success they've had and you know I've gotten to know Aaron Donald really well and throughout the process of him deliberating coming back or not we had talked about whether or not this defense like like how he could this defense be and I think the combination of not only him and Garrett but you know Byron Young and Fisk and the secondary and the backers it really it's incredible but then you go the offensive side of all and it's the same thing I mean Stafford is playing the best football he's ever played they have two terrific receivers they've held off into the line running back they they don't have a weakness I just love the team I mean Seattle Seattle is going to be really tough as well but the Rams have a lot of pressure I just don't think they feel it I don't think they feel the pressure because of the coach and the organization Jordan I got to you agreed to come on on a Friday the last football Friday before
the NFL returns you didn't have to do that we appreciate you hope you guys have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and keep killing a buddy we appreciate you my pleasure guys thanks so much take here Jordan Schultz their NFL insider again check out the Schultz report YouTube channel must follow that's what we're talking about here in the Y-Shirt right we make it right call Kyle right hotline when we come back we'll react what he had to say and we might we just might get into my 2026 NFL team tears in five minutes on 92 through the fan that is Jordan Schultz of the Schultz report in the previous segment great stuff with him on the decision to just start to start to start what's that to start to show on the board today doesn't know yeah yeah yeah yeah well that is a decision that is a decision that is something usually a crappy one but that being said the decision to start Shadour Sanders and then I think people think you just do it you just you just you know
I think this is your turn that's not I was at my turn no no no I've butchered it I've spoken maybe a hundred words in the segment and I butchered 97 of them yeah every now and again yeah you know it's funny about it though I do wonder if you do it so often I do wonder if people just tend to think it's like a bit you do oh you mean like if I said like instead of saying like issue I said it's you yeah one of those things is that your yours was so relatable yours would be throwing in all sorts of problematic words yeah words you're not really supposed to say on the air it's been this week and just kind of throwing them in I dropped the G on angels yep we heard that I clearly we heard that I gave you blue jays but the other one yeah that was I I mean I didn't say it but I you know we definitely put that one out of the ether listen we're just into a new schedule this week in the last couple weeks I I can only use it for like another week of having a wake up at 5 30 now every morning I'm gonna use it every chance I get every if I keep saying what I'm saying you were clean on Ohio's tape that's true that's true when I really there
was high money that one is bad you know why cuz we were aware is that is that we were aware of the danger and I did not see the danger there but this makeup on you you know one of the one of the lines that annoys me here is well if the Browns liked Shadore so much why why why why they why didn't they name him star you know week one starter or if Shadore so good why couldn't he be down to shop that then the perception is that he has an outlaw two quarterback competitions and a few different coaching staffs with two different coaching staffs that like three times in the last 24 hours and that's how people are generally taking this which I think is a little just off he was never gonna win this to fansky one that one was cooked from jump street and then I don't know listen yes technically he lost this quarterback competition I'm not gonna try to rewrite history as we're doing it right now and suggesting that he he beat out to Sean Watson but munkin is essentially said the the books were cooked yeah it was always going to end this way so I just have a hard time and maybe this is where I was right I have a hard time admitting that idea of that concept that he genuinely lost this I just that maybe I'm just being stubborn about it though
isn't it talking a little bit outside but both sides your mouth there though from from certain people when they go well if Shadore was so good he would have overcome to Sean and he'd be starting week one while also saying maybe they feel better about Shadore learning the offense and that he'll be better week four because of it that's a little bit well as if they're doing should or some sort of big solid yes as if this is all in service of of Shadore and this is the four weeks that he would take is going to be better for him in the long term well one it it belies that Dishon Watson doesn't have a long leash which means they don't really have that much conviction in Dishon to the idea that the difference between Shadore being ready to start weeks one in three is two weeks of practice when he's not really going to see any of the reps and he's splitting already splitting scouts out team reps and then three if you start Shadore Sanders week three that competition was much closer than anyone wants to give credit for I mean I yeah not only is it much closer that's the really what
that would tell you they go to Shadore week three that would tell you that they just really had to know with certainty that Dishon Watson could not do it yes and and it's fine they gave they came to that conclusion quick then I I will be happy if they just come to that conclusion quicker than I think they will and that's all I'll be settled in on the idea that they've really just wanted to make sure because there's that fear in the back of their mind in a season that you want to win games and you want to try as best you can but a season where it seems like they're focused on 2027 I really do feel like they needed to make sure Dishon did not go to a different team and then end up being good and that's maybe that's what two weeks is which which at this point I wasn't worried about it bad reflection in the browns if the browns didn't play Dishon this this this season at all and next year he went and he he looked like the Michael Vick version with the Eagles where Michael Vick with the Eagles didn't look anything like Michael Vick with the Falcons he was still a he was still a usable NFL quarterback he did sign two different one hundred million dollar contracts for a reason
yeah I mean I don't think he started one post prison I don't think he started more than 12 games in a season with the Eagles aren't I aren't right about that I'm now asking you to fact check me on air but that's okay I can fact check out here I mean I'm fairly certain he did but that's all right we can we can do this like Michael Vick and by the way the point is Michael Vick was fine 2.0 he wasn't Michael Vick in Atlanta I thought it was one good year in total but I have to I'll have to look out of here in Philly let's see he started at 12 games then 13 games then 10 games then seven games I was about four is by one damn game I should have said 13 games okay no I'm not mad at you I'm mad at me because I was like for some reason the 12 games stuck in my head 2 1 6 4 7 4 009 2 but it's still again the whole point with Vick was that it got him it got that year one out of the gate is when he ended up getting that $100 million deal off of he not only won come back player of the year which is something we talked about yesterday but he went to
the pro ball he was an AP offensive player of the year number two selection there and he put up some he put up some pretty good numbers all things considered was it the greatest thing you've ever seen no but he looked he looked function only a good but at this point if DeShawn goes elsewhere and looks good you're gonna say he never would have done it in Cleveland yes but that will be a reflection of Cleveland yes but also it'll be a reflection of DeShawn we should never lose out of the fact that DeShawn is not lived up to his end of the bargain the bulk of the responsibility for that is still DeShawn if we never got to see him play with a different head coach though we would at least I would I would look at the Browns and I would say you didn't think any of this blame could have fallen on Stefansky the lead in five minutes on 92 three the fan I earlier in the show we talked about again I think everyone's expecting big things from Ohio State but as it relates to week one buzz there seems to be a lack there a lack there of with my Ohio State friends and again like that is so how I think some people do with a lot of Cleveland sports which is oh I kind of connect
about sports through those friends that's really Ohio State for me because I didn't go there and like you know it's it's I'm always kind of like leaching on to their excitement about it I'm an Ohio State fan but it's different if you're a Walmart Ohio State fan you a Walmart fan like a subscriber now as opposed to like a I went there or I'm from Columbus that's kind of another like sector of fans yeah and again I think people are excited for November I think people are excited for maybe Texas and USC and Oregon yeah I mean Texas is the game of the month but like I think and when it comes to overall I think there's just not as much as much panic win one loss doesn't do you in and what's interesting is I'm kind of the opposite on the brown side of things because clearly I think they're going to be competitive and so I define that as seven to eight wins I've locked in eight wins by the way because I have stones but like I'm really excited for this brown season I have no confidence Doshon is going to do anything that interests me and I'm
probably going to be mad about Doshon Watson's play two Mondays from now but overall I'm still very excited for this Jacksonville game and I'm excited to see all the parts about this browns team that I think over the next couple years people are really going to start to like I'm excited but I think it's just because we do this every day and we've been waiting for games I I do wonder if I had just a normal nine to five job how pumped up I would be for the 2026 season oh see I think it's I do think I don't think this is just it's the 2026 season there are seasons that have been like that by the way where I've gone in being like once we get into week two I'm just I'm just probably gonna I'm gonna simmer down a bit I mean should or being as you know as the backup and every it's almost like a fundraiser if you just happen to the fundraiser of anytime you need to there's going to be a jolt that happens when Shador gets named the starter I just think whoever starts the most amount of games this year through the course of 18 weeks I think they have enough around the quarterback to make it interesting and that's all you really need in the NFL if you're functional
and you've got some playmakers I you don't have to score 30 points a game and I think that's where maybe some people are forgetting the Browns offense was so putrid last year how putrid was it it was unwatchable yeah but like he was so I get that people are basing their expectations for that offense off of two things to Sean Watson that's tough to have good expectations there and the second one is well there they were unwatchable last year offensively they're going to be unwatchable this year I don't know the Todd Munkins going to get you 27 points a game I think Todd Munkins going to have this thing a little bit more fun because I think they've worked on the things that held you back offensively I think the motion's going to be back in this offense I think they're not going to have as many procedural penalties at least early you sure as hell shouldn't with the show Watson we have this year just got to be a ridiculous rate of offensive line penalties in particular and then concept the own fan in a Denzel Boston I think Jerry Judy and like the secondary roles a wide receiver might do something interesting obviously can be fun when he's playing good football
he can be a lot of fun two years ago Jerry Judy was a lot of fun to watch and I think people have overstated the concerns about the offensive line do I think there's a chance that you're right of course I think you're worried about it yeah I'm worried about it but I think I think I think I think we've talked about the upside the downside of this team and the things we like and the things we don't like that I do think the offensive line has been something that's been overharped upon I I actually think they're going to come out I think they're going to be fine week one I think they've got a really great offensive line coach and I think the key to maintaining quality offensive line play will be I think I think the hope I would have is that it's I'm not expecting anything week one it gets five new guys on the line that's a lot I'm expecting fun functionality the hope would be by weight week six seven eight somewhere around there then we start to figure things out I guess I guess the hope I would have with the offensive line is it gets there I don't know halfway through the season I really don't have much expectations early I'm expecting functionality week one meaning there's going to be a couple plays and I go oh you had three guys blocking on a screen and a
couple of them with but I'm also going to have enough enough evidence that these guys are going to be able to play and I think you I think by the time you get to week eight I expect them to be a very good offensive line I think that's probably they're sealing by the way I don't expect them to be a great yes I I would put that as like the 13th or 14th I think that would be exceptional if they got there exceptional yeah if they if they got to 13th or 14th I think that'd be that would be very good for them I think that's incredibly doable I'm not holding out the same hope as you are like I know honestly I do think health is part of why they were so dog butt last year but like I just look at this and I go I'm I can say this at 340 when we talked about the lack of buzz for Ohio State you know we're talking about it and I'm like I'm saying all these things that should be exciting to me and it's my my pulses and changing it all you're gonna be like am I depressed now why am I am I not excited but I can't feel anything am I dead inside the answers yes always the test I have for myself am I can I having fun watching this football game if the
answers no I might be depressed right now but like I'm genuinely getting charged up about this and I am and it's funny I don't get I when it comes to like expectations whatever I don't really get like I don't really get like you know screw you about it I kind of him screw you about this like I'm worried I'm worried the Monday after the week one the Jacksonville game is gonna hit you like a truck there's gotta be a Monday after I'm trying to mentally prepare you for her if it goes the way that Nick shook and all the NFL dot com writers seem to think that it'll go every one of those they're getting a suck it to wait for me I don't think I don't think people like myself I don't think we're protecting our feelings are doing anything that way I think we've just kind of made peace with this and it if anything great happens that's awesome let's about as be surprised by it but my expectations are not greatness against the the Jags and week one can I throw up my perfect week one sure I give that to you yeah I mean I do that for you I'd love that yeah I'd like to do that for include no high-o-state win against Texas or is that we're doing a different perfect real week one I meant I meant NFL football the real stuff the amateur
you see another pros yeah they're pros now but all right so perfect week one it's not going to be a great start all right you have a couple whoopsies this is your perfect week one it's perfect it's still has some blemishes to I'm about to story Jonathan I'm about to journey I'm not about the beginning okay all right okay like if Harry Potter started and he was just he was like I'm not stuck in that bedroom yeah and his his his his aunt and uncle loved him so he's like a nepo baby yeah Harry Potter and nepo baby yeah the movie just wouldn't hit the same way I wish I knew Harry Potter to be able to clap back and be like that that wasn't that that one character I don't know enough about Harry Potter to do that I mean that was that was Dudley Dursley is that right yeah I would think Hogwarts would have a lot of rich people attending it right well rich witches yeah a lot of rich witches and warlocks of course I don't know if that's what it makes bag of a socio economic you're a wizard Harry yeah all right yeah sorry I just want to do that now it starts out not great now the defense is looking good okay okay the defense actually is looking good but we get a dishawn pick six within that first quarter oh geez and then second quarter again
it's only seven nothing Jacksonville I maybe ten nothing Jackson I know you're probably already getting some tweets yeah like you goober why why are you optimistic oh yeah season okay you fat so and so on to be like mom get off Twitter um and then we then we have a disastrous fumble from Dishon okay but again the Browns defense holds firm field goals and now we're 13 to three going to half and Todd Monkin he's got like the quintessential movie head coach thing okay where he's nervous he's furious he's not I'm the service he looks calm and ready am I gonna scream at these guys or am I gonna and then he looks in the mirror and he goes Todd you've been waiting your whole life for this it's almost becomes like eight mile and and then he yeah splashes a little bit of water on himself throws up the hoodie and walks into locker room and goes Dishon sit your ass down shador you're up kid yeah and then and then sure throws up and then is sure like like Marshall Mathers he does he does actually it's mom's spaghetti actually it's
actually Dishon who throws up for no reason he just throws up um all over shoes but then Jacksonville gets a ball back in the third quarter special team touchdown and you're thinking yourself they just switch it's now 20 to three and you know what happens little by little big throw by big throw yeah shadat by shadat okay we get one tuddy uh oh is it 2010 oh oh did the defense just get a little fumble russki did the defense just turn the ball over that's what's interesting other say ball yeah ball yeah he's a straight and Quincy's like he's on it he's Quincy's like I also see the ball we're seeing balls guys and then Shadork gets a ball about half halfway up the field right 50 yard line 49 yard line let's call it a immediate shadat now it's 20 to 17 who does it should I go to now that's that that's it I said I say a bunch I've never heard of it no this is the one that gets him and Jerry Judy on the same page nice and then you know what
Jerry Judy does oh rest up yeah the rest up to Shadork and to Sean cries on the side line and now he openly weeping yeah yeah like I know I thought that was going to be us and you actually see the team psychologist talking with him the sports clinician talking with him like it's going to be okay you still made a lot of money here and then so it's now 2017 now we're into the that six minutes left stalemate right what happens what happens quenchon juttkins rattles off an 80 yard touchdown and the browns pull ahead and win and Monday of that week I am just DX crotch chopping just everyone but you right would never do that to my my work boo sure but I'll tell you Ken and Anthony about the work boo thing what what why why don't you like work boo why just did just doesn't say like something something you should be calling me why people have work wives work husbands well we're you know we're we're not booves all right I just gave you a cinematic approach jacks and you
agree the work boo thing is that's not we tried work boo I can't that can't stay we gotta stop that one of me did it works oh see oh yeah jacks come on come on you never had a work boo before for some you loved a boo I've only worked the sports radio you know I've not ever had a work about how much you loved a boo but I would never want to be a work boo no work boo sounds a little funny so you have booed limitations is what I'm understanding for friends it sounds a little funny what what kind of funny is it ironic funny is it is it quirky humor funny I mean jacks you hear it right when he call I want to do call another do the work boo can I can I do call another dude work boo I don't think that's like it's in what world is that fine so much better than if you were calling like a woman that you work with your work yeah that would be I'd be in a chart that's where it's problematic yeah yeah we're a very progressive show here a progressive station as it were you're not gonna gaslight me and to think in that work boo is just an acceptable term
from one guy to the other I'm gonna start calling Jake work my work Jake and jacks are workboos what's going on in jacks here why why is jacks trying to get work boo it's that chair why is it chair why is he something about that chair why my family I'm not well I'm settling two versions of you right now I don't know I don't know what happened I'm talking to the devil on the shoulder and the angel on the shoulder what's going on they both devil yeah uh so work boo I just gave you the the way so we get everything we want and then Monday the shucky monster always getting a text oh if the brand is not you know he owes he owes the he owes us a phone call yeah it's the browns win with with Shedore in a comeback situation but by the way didn't I do that a nice way I didn't have to Sean getting injured I had him getting benched respectable wasn't that nicer I thought an injury would be insulting I don't want I don't want to wish an injury on anybody whether I'm done tired of watching to Sean play or not so but even in the scenario your emotions are still played with for the first half of the game lay with them okay all right
I sometimes you gotta feel football you gotta feel something right that's football the whole point of football is it what what to do to the emotions so then but the hard part I have within the the construct of some of our convoys is that you are you're tugging at two things you you want you want you want to Sean to obviously fail but then you also want the browns to showcase awesomeness and all this optimism and be great and they work in conflict with each other you have to have this type of scenario that you're dreaming up where he gets benched for Shedore is the only way that you you have something actually workout I think someones coming out of the work boo I think that's what that's just proven a lot of talk talk there two one six four seven four stop it jacks he is jacks love this I mean my belly shake is he found the comedy and you calling me work boo in a way that he's like I'm gonna play the long game in this one this is this is gonna be good for you guys I'm not gonna be good for us I think he agrees do you want people can you guys
tweet Nick and just tell him work boo yeah not it yeah just tell just tell me just want to know what I'm yeah hashtag let him know and just a reminder guys Jonathan Peter Lynn doesn't like work boo so if you had anything against Jonathan Peter Lynn maybe you should be pro work boo in this case sounds funny you know would that be the ideal situation what do you just say it jacks you know no life here okay all right jacks just started I thought he was choking I know I was doing this which I'm like I was gonna get up and do the Heimlich for you I was ready to save you gotta be honest I got a host to show here I'm worried about you all right you're not my work work boo but you're work boo adjacent uh but I got a man the ship I designated myself as the person out of the two of us that has to get up and then go save the day yeah yeah because you're right you have to host the show still we're not going to let you guys go off the air somebody's got to stay talking
I'll go save you and then we'll get right back into this now when we come back oh no dude is that the dream scenario for week one and are you actually excited about week one with the browns and the beauty of my 2026 NFL team tears in five minutes on 92 tears and five Bobby Carpenter Ohio State linebacker 97 won the fan in Columbus coming up in just about 15 minutes time uh more nonsense in the way or on the way in the six o'clock hour as well but speaking of nonsense I did my my NFL team tears this year and as you pointed out uh I got the whole AI sloped treatment on this bad boy I liked it this is nice this is the good graphic I think you did a nice job with this well I like that compliment so the point with this is though I think sometimes are every team every opinion one goal you know the super bowl you know that what that's what
that's what AI did I know I know I know I did I knew I did not I did not put that no I know I said I don't have that level of detail it's the extra flair that really AI was like I need to give you it's a flourish it isn't me I mean AI really is incredible but it is amazing how it it's going graphic it is now what's pretty solid uh so my my thing with tears is sometimes we get really really rigid with them or in the case of like Eric Edhoyne we talked about yesterday he has one quarter of the NFL tanking that's not possible right it's a lot of teams that's a lot of teams tanking I mean in the NBA it's definitely possible we watched it last year but in the NFL it's not something we typically see nor should we uh be just because the parity level in the NFL is different so my teams I'll go through my tears real quick the just awful tier Miami Arizona New York in Tennessee I think three of those teams are trying to lose and the other one is coached by Robert Salah will not meet expectations which means they'll probably have a top 10 pick uh the
Falcons Colts Saints commanders or giants I think the commanders could be in the middle of pack of the NFL okay I just don't think they're going back to the playoffs I think the giants are gonna end up doubling their win total from last year and then only at four last year so here we are and then one of the more I will say robust definitions meaning it's not just about are you gonna be good or bad it's gonna be how will you meet expectations or not is will will you exceed expectations and that's the Browns Raiders and Vikings I don't want to go through all 32 teams because that's going to be laborious for the listeners there but when you look across here what do you what do you think I got most right what do you think I most wrong well I do want to talk about your will exceed expectations for a second I don't I don't know how the Raiders end up exceeding expectations not what Kirk cousins a quarterback and maybe it's got to be the Mendoza part of that in the back half oh no it's really not what I want to nitpick oh no it's it so that I think Vegas hands them at a five and a half win team I can't remember because I did check all their over others today they might even before and I thought to myself if they get to seven wins this year and half of those come with Fernando I actually think that's a really nice season especially
of Kirk cousins just gives you that so basically they're doing the Browns theory of Kirk gives you the best chance to win early and then this will help Fernando be better later okay that's actually plausible with Kirk cousins and you know the number one pick I know how you got there with the Vikings and I tend to agree and I think it what's interesting about it and we've talked a how do we enough we've talked a decent amount of the Vikings because the Vikings are the one outlier from last year and the idea that you can have an extraordinary defense but it's a really bad offense and still end up with nine wins now they won the last five games of the season and again their defense was extraordinary they were second in EPA for pass defensively they were third and total EPA on the season last year seventh and scoring defense like they were incredible and a lot of the numbers that matter basically they're incredible in every area minus offensive football and they were just atrocious now they still a run game that was outstanding 1800 total yards between Aaron Jones and that old crew like they were able to do stuff on the ground but like the one of the games they won in the final five they went five and oh Nick they had three total passing yards like they are
I think they're an outlier but they are the one you need to and keep pointing to for why you have belief in the Browns can overcome having a bad offensive team right. Panthers too by the way the Panthers are also dog bleep offensively eight and a half wins is the expectation for the Vikings and if they had nine last year and the Pythagorean for them was eight and a half oddly enough they should be able to meet that. Well that what I mean is that they will exceed expectations. I think that's one of the ones like Bolles. I agree with you on that one. I think if they have anything now maybe their defense comes back down to earth a little bit but if they're defense is anything close to what it was last year with Kevin O'Connell Justin Jefferson and I don't know maybe Kyler Murray just sucks but I got I got I got I got I got a feeling you're going to be right about that. I have a hard time thinking that Kyler's just going to be bad. I do I think people I think people took him to a different level that he never attained and then they forgotten no he's a competent NFL quarterback and you give him Justin Jefferson Jordan Addison TJ Hawkinson a okay offensive line and some
running oh and by the way that defense that's just wouldn't surprise me if Kyler had them in the you know the second round of the playoffs this next year just because he didn't screw it up. Right the NSU North still really tough though. I think we have to acknowledge that but that's what made the Lions so hard to kind of pick here. Well I saw your buddy Jim Costa getting at you here. Yeah and the playoffs are bus category. I think we need to discuss I also want to discuss the playoffs winner bus category because I think that's really interesting too and the playoffs are bus category. I agree the Packers at this point need to win playoff games. You have a better feel on Carolina than I ever will. I don't get the perception they need to win a playoff or go to the playoffs for it to be anything great but it's just because I don't believe in the Panthers the same way would you have a better I think they go seven and ten Bryce Young's not the the starting quarterback next year. Okay that's fair I 100% fair. Seahawks I think Seahawks are playoff winter bus not just playoff surbust so maybe I'd I'd bump them up to the playoffs winter bus category. I think basically just want to Super Bowl. I have a lot of the same expectations I have on them from last year to this year. I think once you win a Super Bowl the next year it's just
make the playoffs. Anything you you're still kind of basking in the glow Tampa I would also move in the playoff winter bus category if the bus at the bus component of this is if you don't win a playoff game you might have to get rid of your quarterback. I think if they don't win a playoff game just making to the playoffs in that wretch division which they did for four out of the last five years I don't think that's good enough for them. I think they love Baker and I don't think so I think I think they love Baker enough. I know that they're in a contract stalemate. I think of Baker just gets them back to the playoffs and you can look at this and go we're four games above 500 with four playoff trips in four years as Baker as a starter I think that's going to be enough. Patriots fans should be playoff winter bus but I understand putting them in playoffs or because that is such a sad sack team right now and the idea that they're so comfortable with just not performing. I've never seen an NFL team that just seems sad. All the history that they have obviously I've never seen a team to be so comfortable with while we really outperformed expectations last year. This will be our comeback down to earth season. Yeah and listen I think it's embarrassing if your page rich man. I'm actually excited to kind of see Drake more
a Drake May and AJ Brown together but I think Drake May is going to have an excellent season. You know the only reason he was second in MVP last year I think it's going to be excellent again this year. There's a lot of other reasons why I don't expect a huge aggression from New England. One, I think Drake may is a real deal and two it's Ravel. I do think Ravel is a legitimate great coach, a little bit great great great coach and this is the best quarterback he's ever had as the head coach by far. I like your super baller bus category. Now let's get to the playoff winter bus. Chargers have to they've never wanted a playoff game with Herbert you bring McDaniel in there you have to win a playoff game this year but your quarterback isn't changing your head coaches and changing so I don't know I don't know if the bus component really could really applies when nothing's going to change if they don't achieve what they want to but they need to start winning playoff games with Herbert. There's acknowledgement there they need to start winning playoff games. Dallas I don't know is ever in a situation where it's playoff winter bust but I think it's important because that Dax get an older and I don't think shot in Heimers as solid footing as people think. Dax got two career playoff wins in general so I deck doesn't win playoff games and
Jerry Jones seems very content with the idea that he's going to put up big numbers the offense is going to be good but they don't recognize there's no demand much. The Bears are very similar to the Patriots in my opinion and the idea that the fan base is just kind of settled for well there's going to be regression and it's going to kick us in the ass and I think that's awful if you've been Johnson and Caleb Williams together you should be playoff winter bust the idea that most their fan base isn't embarrassing and the Steelers are interesting because the Steelers I don't think they have to win a playoff game but what we do know is that Aaron Rogers no longer the quarterback after this year regardless so is this more tied to Mike McCarthy keeping his job? I think this is for them for firing Tomlin you need to win a playoff game because that's the whole point you want to spend the agents for Tomlin. If you guys want to check out the full tiers at Nicholson says on social media when we come back Bobby Carpenter in five minutes on 92 through the fan an hour to go. Great walkoff win by the Guardians just now Brian Roqueo his
second home run of the afternoon. The first one was a grand slam which got you back in the game and if you're going to tell me that playoff Roqueo is heating up I'm going to need some time to myself because that is exactly what I want to hear about playoff Roqueo. I mean you see him hand away won that game grand slam walkoff home run I just went out in the big O'Card today. And by the way bailed him out from a disastrous start from Logan Allen I will have more on this game but again great win Gardos game two with the double header tonight you can you can take two of these we're going to feel very very good the pendulum swings back the other way for the Cleveland Guardians but to go ahead and talk Ohio State is we are within 24 hours of Ohio State ball state on the wise heart right we make it right call Kyle right hotline NFL linebacker Ohio state linebacker and 97 won the fan host Bobby Carpenter joins us now Bobby welcome to the show. Hey thanks for having me on guys it's excited to get some actual football and rolling it
just about all the levels we got one more night in a week was it five or six days until we get a little NFL football starting up here on Wednesday night we are we're ready for all the football I was at a oh gosh it was a black river northwestern game last Friday that's how much I'm Jonesing for some football my brothers also the defensive coordinator's that helps but I do want to know like Ohio where are you with this Ohio State where have you set the expectations for this team? You know I think every year was Ryan Dan like when the big time when he was says you know when the big time make make the playoffs when a game or two like hopefully that's getting you to second round maybe the semi-final depending on where you come in and then on you know sometimes those special years where it all kind of lines up better in quarterback you stay healthy that's some continuity on the team like then you can maybe challenge and hopefully you try to win you know you'll win it all and so I think the team is different than last year
probably just as good and so hopefully better probably more experience the quarterback different on defense obviously lost a lot of really talented players so that's going to be you know a tough spot but the guys that came in really good and I'm a nutritious phenomenal Arthur Schmitt is going to do a great job on the offensive side with no doubt so they have all of the ingredients just you need a little bit of luck and you need to stay healthy yeah I mean they allowed just nine points per game last year three defensive starters returning eight gone a lot of transfers coming over though what's the what's the early perception of how you guys think this defense is going to go I think it'll be different than last year nine points a game I don't know if you're going to be able to replicate that and they were historically good last season they had three guys drafting the top 11 four guys off the board in the top 40 I mean they were as good as you were going to get and in like sunny and sunny was obviously good kill was great there was actually patience there I don't think people expected our valedict be as good as good as quickly as he was
and the same thing with Kaden McDonald and both those guys accelerated much quicker lost Kaden Kering that you know someone did the sacks last year so a lot of production is gone but you brought in some guys that are pretty good Christian Allegro or a little junior James Smith Quayrosal like you feel good the guys that are there have been developing I think this defense might be a little more aggressive this year last year one of the things like as good as they were there's really forced many turnovers didn't really you know have a ton of sacks throughout the entirety of the season I think this this year could be a little different with that where they maybe could be a scene that maybe gives up a little more points but maybe makes some more impactful plays on the defensive side Bobby which games I know everybody circled the Texas game I'm not is high on Texas is everyone else I think they're very talented I'm not a believer in Sark I'm probably a little bit more interested in the Oregon game myself what games have you circled as the one the matchups you're most curious about this year though you know I think that Oregon
game because they're very talented I think Texas is really talented too but Dan Lattie is kind of entering that Ryan Day phase that he was in a couple years ago where you've been ahead most of the big time program for a number of years now you know how to state obviously has you know bigger internal expectations probably than Oregon with their fan base I think nationally people look at Oregon's okay this team they've got Phil Knight they have all the players they need they should be able to go compete in the national championship and I think Dan Lattie's made the playoffs act of the number one seed two years ago they've lost kind of in rough fashion got beat up a little bit when you start looking at how those games went and so people you know start raising the question okay like it is a time and the question is like if not now then when like that's all part of it so you know they've got to deal with that but that Oregon team is going to be really really talented so curious to see how that's going to ultimately go and um you know part and parcel of that I think just uh it's crazy to say this like you never
thought you'd drop Penn State from your schedule and pick up Indiana and it'd be a tougher schedule but the situation was having to play over in Indiana I only go be the hot most hostile environment in the world but anytime like you're going to play a team to beat you the Fending National Chants I think there's going to be some juice to that yeah six AP top 25 teams on the schedule for the preseason at least uh is there is the perception around Columbus that you're you guys kind of enjoying this because last year it felt like a sleepwalking in many ways yes there was Texas early but there it just wasn't the toughest schedule and then you got to the big 10 title game in Indiana kind of knocked you and knocked you around but you saw what happened in that game and then Miami it just kind of felt like it wasn't tough enough during the regular season is that the vibe schedule obviously you have Texas week two but then you look like you said the Oregon USC Indiana you know you've got Michigan on there I it is Illinois and I think it's going to be pretty decent as well I mean I was right and so I think that the schedule gets your attention as a player
it got your attention all off season so allows you to be more hyper focused as you work through that and like you said the sleepwalking element yeah you could just can hype it up but when you realize it's probably when you play into it and have quarters as a starter and you get in there and you're dominant but it's hard to keep that that edge sharp when you're not really going through a four quarter football game except for a handful of times a year and this year maybe you suffer some losses at some point but you're going to be more battle tested and I think that that's more important than the in the long run. Bobby I love stuff like like like how fan bases Edmund flow with coaches Jim Tressel was beloved from that first year in Columbus and nothing really ever changed that urban Meyer having done what he did at Florida and Utah before him and NBG was was beloved pretty much walking in that door. Ryan's obviously had a different kind of path here but he went you
wins that first national championship you get the Michigan win again I'm just curious what does another natty do for Ryan Day and just his legacy and kind of how he's perceived as his buck ice head coach. Do you know how many coaches have won multiple national championships at Ohio State? One that's the answer so he would be the second and as good as urban was as good as my coach Tressel are put in the ring honor man I love trust you know probably stuck you know only to my father with the influence he's had on my life but you know Ryan if he wins another I mean that's it's rare fight air and uh said he wants to stay here for another 10 years I was hoping he'd stay for five just get through his kids as I believe it's younger daughters and a trader and if he does that like he's gonna be the second all-time winning coaching program history and I don't know if there's going to be coaches to coach for 27 years anymore like Woody Hayes so you know he's got that before
and he's a phenomenal coach he's a great man. He's fans are very lucky and I hope they realize how blessed they are when you have a guy who is as good a coach as he is who's also as good a man as he is because those guys are rare. You know people talk about him not being a real buck guy and everything like he got this job when he was you know in his 30s 39 you know it's the first time in my life where I was closer in age to the head coach than the players not the function of me getting older but I've got to watch my life do this job you know I just kid grow up here instead he's like four she knew nothing else other than the state of Ohio and you know that guy and like young kids to go to the north wide develop and everything through year over the same. And so I think Ryan has embraced it winning that national championship helped
the winning beating Michigan last year helped if you could beat Michigan again you can flip that record here over the next couple of years and get on the pod top side of that ledger and another national change didn't have 120 wins 130 wins like it's really an unprecedented run and unfortunately for him when he came in like he was inheriting you know 17 years of just utter domination of the Michigan rivalry and some of those teams weren't very good especially in the end part of that urban air some of them were great in the middle the meat of it I mean he played Michigan champion and so they were good school. It's gone 24 to 2024 it shouldn't happen but that probably led to a national championship so there's a whole story with it I think people do appreciate. All right Bobby we got a boogie buddy oh sorry about that buddy we had a little phone break up but we we great stuff buddy really appreciate you you have a great weekend okay Bobby. Thanks you guys have a go. Bobby Carpenter there former Ohio State linebacker former NFL linebacker 97
one the fan in Columbus on the wise heart right we make it right call Kyle right hotline we could obviously have some conversations about that but the thing that's everybody's buzzing about right now is a double home run day by Brian Roqueo and I think it's a little hyperbolic to say that that win saved the Guardian season but I also think it's an incredibly important win and if you then turn around and take the second half of this double header it really does with well I think now 21 games to go after the second game 20 games to go it's it's hard to kind of overdo it with praise of what these two games could mean. It felt like a massive one and it was massive for a couple reasons. Roqueo single-handedly winning the game is huge also the idea that Roqueo is slumped. We talked earlier about Buzana maybe not having the greatest stretch year two months of baseball that hadn't been good and Roqueo had been just as bad throughout that stretch to the point where if we're trying to find a spot for her now it's I'm sorry it was
going to be Roqueo that was getting replaced but you have games like this and you're giving yourself a chance if you're Roqueo. Yeah and what was huge about that Roqueo two hits two home runs five ribbies. Buzana today had two hits before getting pulled for a pinch hitter for David Fry and now had two hits chased a lauder had two really nice doubles as well. I will tell you it was driving me crazy. I am very rarely the guy that complains about the umpire guy. Yeah. This this home played umpire today was killing me specifically in the big inning where Roqueo ended up T and off in the fourth inning. Kaira Montero couldn't hit the broad set of a freaking barn and this guy was calling every high high ball a strike. Yeah and and I get like Guardians fans just go well you're going to win those so just challenge every play it's like well that's not really how this works. No right because there's a chance that even if it ends up being a
even if it's a truly a strike they don't always get the review right. Yeah have to make sure you do it and basically high high leverage times in the right opportunities you can't just be challenging things all game. Now that being said I do feel like game two was much more of a winnable game given who's on the bump. I I didn't have any confidence in Logan Allen today and that was quickly rewarded by a you have no confidence in me kind of performance. Was this a bogos situation a by one get one you win that game you guys especially the way that they did it you know and this is something that in the past month or so people have been asking like trying to figure out what is different about this Guardians team that what we've seen maybe a month or two months ago they don't erase six one leads two months ago. Yeah we just watched them play too much like they they're not six one two months ago. That's a loss. I'll see you tomorrow get it get ourselves to the post game show them doing that putting up the five runs spot in the fourth inning is just not we're starting to see it more and more we a couple weeks ago we started to see it now we're starting to see it more and more and like that's a sign that's a sign that's something good as happen. Yeah I mean if you had gotten the
kind of offensive performance since the trade deadline that you've gotten sorry if you've gotten all season long the performance you've gotten from this offense since the deadline you might be 10 games above 500. Well man it makes sense though I mean there's we have three different players it's a third of your lineup is brand new and different you know and and Adele had been tearing the cover off the ball we like low although he he kind of he he I you have comments on his appearance I'm sure oh yeah yeah he looks like a plumber. Oh you're going for plumber. Yeah it's a blue collar job maybe an HVAC guy yeah like that's a guy who works 75 hours a week and doesn't complain. I was thinking like a week type thing. But Friday night he goes out to his his his barn slash workshop because he's gonna second job. Yeah yeah he kicks his feet up uncorks. Well I'm gonna assume he's maybe a PBR could be a course light I'm hoping it's a course banquet but he and he just puts his feet up and he goes I got it made yeah yeah he does a good play that's the point he
lives life one beverage at a time yeah but appreciation for that beverage and because he's earned it he's not well he has he worked hard it was 75 hours worked hard as a gig economy in the man by the way 75 hours that's that's before we get to the the the woodworking side hustle he just he didn't just barely make it to Friday no no no no no no that man that man worked he had more in the tank and he's ready for tomorrow yeah that's what the Samuel low looks like he's gonna party tonight he's ready for tomorrow yeah he gets right back up the weekend he's honestly he doesn't see a difference to you you know working and party I mean you you what's the sword with the owls or fly with the Eagles what's that one give me some help here at 615 on a Friday I can't do the Nathaniel low I can't I can't I can't pull it off listen I think you know what line I'm going for isn't it is it who with the owls who are the owls you know because you've messed it up you've you've put too much you've put too much salt in my stew I screwed you up okay yeah that's what's happened this is the salt in the stew all over again he can't put with the owls at night and soar with the Eagles in the morning so yeah I did know what it was yeah uh-huh you were just butcher again a real time
I just put it in me I just put it in it's so bad it threw you off it's like Mike and Mark turn off all over again hey hey that was a simpler time two one two hours yeah simpler yeah it was was a lot simpler two hour what has changed the two hours that's what's changed time yes changed he constantly evolved I got to walk you through everything this this flat this flat you know called earth honestly you're my workbook but you're making this real hard on me right now is that right yeah you're really testing our our work if this is what it takes you get rid of workbook and I think we're good that was very close that was very close very close two one six four seven four double oh nine two did that win save the Guardian season and I have a strong tennis take no no no you're gonna want to hear this I don't know that I do five minutes on ninety two three
fan in case you missed it coming up in just about uh at 50 minutes time here Nick Wilson Jonathan Peterland back on the fan did we have a read to do JP did I do yeah opening week on the fan presented by hands free sketches slip ins just step in and go I just stepped in it and we went here we go I got to get you a new get your new sponsor and if you if you have any problem with any part of today's show one valid to I was a warrior last night yeah is that right you and me is date out till nine thirty two and me no no I left the event nine fifty three don't you diminish my accomplishments yeah I got home at a late night at 11 o'clock you don't know what it's like to wake up early with young kids and you call everyone else the square uh no no no I'm being a good father because I wake up at five thirty with my children yeah beat that uh but go to sleep at nine thirty now which is why me getting home at 11 o'clock at night and waking up at five thirty is actually
rather heroic I'm not saying it's not heroic I mean it's not heroic but okay but I think in like the definition of a square nine thirty is probably the proper bedtime yeah yeah yeah yeah but I went to bed eleven so last night we were really pushing that yeah really pushing that real tough so anything that happened today really should be under the banner of I probably should have realized how late it was going to be out and scheduled to day off and scheduled a four day weekend like like a month ago I should have seen this one coming right no everybody else worked today why would you have taken off because I'm special Ken and Anthony showed up after being out wait later than you I mean cheese I'm not like Kensbath alignment was out until the Colorado game end of last night that was like midnight I left Lima and Owen at the bar and I thought one of them won't make it I just were heavy it was Lima but I was like you know I don't know if Owen was there to look after Lima or if Owen was also getting deep in the booze train I don't know how it went but I knew probably wouldn't go go well but they did well they actually got it both showed up like
I could not have been me. I think Ken was a little jealous that he wasn't able to hang out even later with them because he also had a long drive back that was that's how he traded on the air I don't know you tell me I will tell you when he said hotel I was like why don't why didn't I think that I could have done a hotel because I I would have liked to you know like everybody wanted to buy you drink I couldn't I had a 50 minute drive home drive yeah yeah fairness Ken pieced out way earlier than any other host not named Jeff Elbs or any baskin. Oh did he yeah I mean he had a long drive back I get it it was what it was I it's almost surprising David Busters wasn't like let's just put you up and you can you can sleep in the maybe the Ghost Busters game the ski ball or something or that big arcade that the human claw arcade you can just sleep in there but all the balls yeah well there was there was more like like 40 devices was the prizes. Oh that's right yeah yeah depends on on which human crane that you go to there well no because the David Busters know what I mean is the David Busters in Canton has has more
ball shaped objects. Oh is that right yeah I know because I was let there a year you're a you're in a half ago with my my kiddos. I this one only had a rotation device as though but it was like specialty in rotation devices. Now the funny thing to me is because I've heard the story told the Dishon Watson card issue I don't think it's properly been told on air okay I'd like to hear your version of it. I've heard the morning show four different times describe it so I don't like to hear your version. So the bomber sports card team there it comes up and they've got it very funny bit. 2022 Dishon Watson signed card and then a Dishon our Shador card also signed. Yeah so one of these cards is something I would be interested but there might be Brown's fans who want the Dishon card right bounce back in the show on one was signed I thought that Dishon one was just numbered. I know I think they were both signed. Okay I looked at the Shador one that one was definitely so. But so initially we they all right Dishon that one's going to go first and so I reach in pull out the first the first submission and you know right read out the numbers
nobody shots out and then I say a female's name and it was like well that's just not great. I'm fortunate. Yeah and but they weren't there you had to be on site to get this prize so I go out of the hopper here's another one. Here's the you know six digit number there and then we turn it over and once again it's a it's a females name and you're like all right do they is that are they actually there and they just don't want it yeah or or is it you know are they really just not there. So at this point Darryl's heard me go oh later twice twice yeah twice and then I'm like all right I can't I can't do it a third time. Then I go clearly this won't happen again pull out the third one oh later and it's a lady yeah so now three and we're over three yeah and so now it's very very funny and I was like all right and then Keith is like getting frustrated because it's slowing down the whole bed and so Keith's like come on let's do one more so we do one more and it was also a lady nice and so the idea that to Sean Watson's
card to pull for that specific one we got four straight women I don't mean to break this to everyone but usually at these fan events yeah not stockpiled with females you know they had to sign the thing though right. No I'm saying like typically though I can feel you know in case anyone wasn't aware it's usually it's usually a male prevalent than female prevalent so the idea that we pulled out four ladies statistic that is going to be incredibly small. So real anomaly and and then we just all broke down laughing and then we just kind of like well would who wouldn't love the Dishon card with the Shadour card and then immediately we got somebody to win it yeah that was nice and that guy actually been there for the duration of our show for the most part yeah I mean like like three hours of our show with any hung out for another couple hours so it was good that he wanted. Now I have a very strong tennis take here okay all right oh wait by the way I dig it out email Christy says I did have the pop a shot high score yeah I knew that she sent me exclusively the email yeah oh only you I mean by the way kudos to Lima I came in
third I believe and Lima came in second I want jacks to talk about what he thought about Andy Baskin's pop a shot yeah that was a real treat I mean probably one of the funniest videos I've seen so living and dying with each shot is what made it for me that's a great Andy Baskin video you watching over there are we sure we got the right video the work move okay all right just making sure we still talking pop a shot well and the funny thing is like listen I don't look like a paragraph a paragraph of athleticism all right I am obese I am the bodies breaking down at this point in my in my 40s but it looks like I've shot a basketball before you sir you look like you shot a basketball before Lima I did know he had shot a basketball before Lima look like somebody who had hooped at least once didn't you play high school basketball Lima you did he he's so slender I think maybe he went out for his high school team I didn't make it maybe that's what that's right not a lot of us I don't know I think I think that's more the story um I thought he
played high school hoops but uh we could have played basketball while in high school yeah just not for the high school yeah maybe that's it uh but Baskin looked like it was the first time he picked up a basketball and I just and I know I don't want to shame a man because clearly I have no room to talk about a lack of athleticism but I was just and so you you pair the I don't know that you've shot a basketball before within the so reena Williams I will tell you I don't think it I don't think that helped the vid oh okay it helped me because I left my ass off watching it this morning I didn't see it uh any of the right I didn't see it last night I saw Lima's last night I saw obviously yours last night mine last night I it was the first thing I woke up today and it put me in the best mood that's good despite really being tired because I'm a real grinder really enjoyable
I do think by the way you had a clear things up with Christie why he was not pleased with you it fell like what was that well I you said on the air and you said something effective like how I was such as a big diva or something about the pop a shot or something yeah trying to make it seem like a big deal that I had to go over there and do that and she came up and she's like I I didn't tell Nick any of that I want I know it's Nick he's just messes with people it's fine but then I think that I think I'm getting the email I think it's based off of that I think she nope I think she I think she's a little she'll be no we talked after that oh you did okay yeah okay that's good to hear yeah I'd hate to have that happen for you guys no what a hate to have that happen yeah I listen you're already my work boom yeah but and you're promotions boom and Christie is at the very woman right there but if her and her husband could be like work booze is it whatever whatever like I'm just saying like them together all right tell me you tend to stay all right no I'm just saying like if there was something different than work booze that you could use or a couple yeah like like I like a like a work and an uncle yeah that doesn't sound great no because they're not that
much older than they're really not I'm just digging a hole here aren't I they're really not yeah I mentioned I'm tired I'm real tired I'm really dead yeah I tell me your tennis deck all right anyways I'm already you know I'm already one foot out the door when it comes to tennis anyways a little one thing the desk and dusting could do when we were co-host is mentioned tennis now the one thing he said that up a little better I get I know you're tired but I get that I jammed you up about the bad stew analogy earlier but this is basically bullying it is bullying at this point for you anyway the one invested in that day the dusting could do that would get my eyes to glaze over is talk about tennis I'm now hot on the trail because the US opens going on I just found that out today and Arnia Sabalenka stopped the match today because and said it complained to the judge someone is smoking weed do you mind because it's so strong this is why
people don't like professional tennis players there is no way you can be hot boxed at the US open it's opens in the name yeah all right you can have the kind of stuff that would send Snoop dog to the moon which is like the equivalent of like I you know the weed equivalent of heroin and I'm gonna tell you in an open situation it will not affect you at all this is a real diva move from Sabalenka you know I've been I've been team Sabalenka I'm out a while there yeah I why I do feel like they've had a real problem with the US open with influencers this year it's kind of like they they have a big ban on influencers they've kicked people out for just being on their cell phones and not watching the event but everyone in New York goes to the US open just to to who's who if that's what it is it's turned into a who's who it's not even a real sporting event at this point it's just a it's a who's who who post everything they possibly can but but again I think that's a response to that though I think that the the party culture the Instagram culture
it's taken over the US open and Sabalenka is just pissed about it yeah and say thank you for being interested in this sport I think what it's there's always been interest in the US open they've all they've always been able to sell out now they're just selling out to people that they don't want there they don't want the influencers there they want assuming they're charging more for it to up the you know what and by the way you know what that's why I said you know what but I don't know because you know what could you specify it's applied when I say you know what what up the you know what is that's the idea there was honey deuces like 30 bucks a piece yeah for our cocktail yeah it's insane between that the food all of it yeah it's it's turned into Instagram culture and which is which again the real tennis know they're in the real tennis knobs are pissed about yeah then retire they wanted to go back to 1995 complaining about about weed and an outdoor again I got the same issues in the golf world too I don't have them I like that the the culture is taken over in the in the golf world that's boost and it's kind of it's kind of made it a little bit cooler but like if you go to a gust of for instance there's decorum that
is supposed to be met there and there's there's a line that you can and cannot cross and in the US open that's their Augusta and so they feel like that line has been crossed the the hot boxing has commenced and they're pissed about it mug on Twitter you're a professional athlete trying to perform at your best you want to inhale that during your sport it's not going to do anything to you it'll get there they're 20 feet away 10 feet away they're it's deluded inhale what there's it's it's air that's all it is it's scented air yeah you're a professional athlete trying to do your best good lord mug tell us you don't know how to hang I think it was an easy win for her in the tennis community and I think she took it I think you know what this proves I think she took it I think isn't easy win quite frankly this proves why we'd all be better off if professional tennis wasn't professional anymore just take the money out of it take take all that I just plan for free for the love of the game for love of the game and no spectators will show up so you aren't possibly bothered by a hint of the guys the funny part about it it is an event that
just turned too cool and too uh to invoke and now they're the hipster tennis community is pissed because their event is fun for people that aren't just die hard tennis fans when we come back in case you missed it I'm not a two three the fan
