Hey, this is Richard Ditch, the host of the Sports Media Podcast. If you're interested in what's happening with all the places where you consume sports, the Sports Media Podcast has you covered. I've been turning down interviews all week. A coat of coffee, reached out, Oprah, Georgetown Phenopolis. So I said no. I was booked on the Ditch Podcast before the Taylor Swift phenomenon. I must live up to my responsibility. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. There's showing blitz. Hurts. Picked off by Edwards. That was the last chance for Philadelphia last night in Chicago. Three games in the Eagles. New offense has yet to take flight. That is for sure worst offensive scoring output of the Nick Cereyani era. The Eagles have never scored seven or less in a game while he's been the head coach.
27 to seven, the final last night. In Chicago, the Eagles fall to two in one and in a tie for first place in the NFC East with the New York Giants who traded for JJ McCarthy yesterday. That'll be an interesting one to follow for sure. The reports are they tried desperately to find a veteran quarterback don't they have a veteran quarterback in James Winston? I guess James not necessarily worthy of that role anymore. Not what the Giants think, but the Giants certainly would have loved to have gotten a guy like Joe Flacco. Cincinnati's not trading Joe Flacco. I've heard people talk about Kirk Cousins availability. Yeah, they're 3 and 0 like the Raiders are going to trade Kirk Cousins at this point. So they went with JJ McCarthy, but they did wrangle out a 12 to seven win over 10 to see on Sunday and they sit atop the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hey guys, it's three games in. We don't know anything yet, but I'm not sure anybody in our division is anything resembling a legitimate Super Bowl contender. That includes the Eagles. That includes the Cowboys. It's early things change. We'll monitor this from Charlottesville Bobby to kick off the show. Charlottesville Bobby asks Kevin, which of these was the more ridiculous summer football predictions? Sunny styles is a bust. Yeah, we heard that one early on. The offensive line is a disaster or Bill looks great. He's going to be one of the leading rushers in the league. LOL. I'll hang up and listen. First of all, I don't think anybody said Bill was going to be among the leading rushers in the NFL. There was some optimism. I heard from a lot of people, Ben thought that Bill looked really good. And by the way, again, this is way too early Bobby to take anything resembling a victory lab.
It's only three weeks. It's way too early, way too early. But the point is taken as it always is. Any real certainty about anything that happens during summer football in the NFL is absolutely ludicrous and silly. It doesn't mean that the things you hear won't come true, but it's not because of what you're seeing. We heard about all these narratives. Sunny Styles as a bust was after what the first preseason game, Max against Miami, or was it the Detroit game? And because he actually played some football, he played like, didn't he play like a quarter? I barely watch these games. He did play more than most of the other projected starters because the other projected starters played like six snaps, I think. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was the Detroit game because I remember the starters getting some run and Bill getting some action games too, didn't he? I think a little bit, but very early on.
Yeah, three games in Sunny Styles right now is not the leader, odds leader for defensive rookie of the year. Actually, the guy I, a guy that I loved coming out of the draft and talked a lot about him, Jacob Rodriguez, second round pick for the dolphins right now is the favorite to win defensive rookie of the year. He's been unbelievable in the first three games. David Bailey is the second pick. Sunny Styles is the third at plus 600 plus 650. The guy that I really love. Say we're gonna get there. Anybody else in the league? Ruben Bain? He's barely played. Well, he's hurt. He got hurt in the second game, but he was completely shut down in the opener. And then he got hurt in week two and did not play against the Vikings. Tampa is in a world of hurt right now. Baker's out for some games. They're O and three. I would imagine I haven't looked at this that Todd Boles is probably the odds on favorite to be the first coach fired. That would be my guess.
I mean, he was already on the hot seat towards the end of last year after things went south. So I would imagine the Zimico Rhyans isn't going to get fired. No, the Texans have been here before. They started O and three all the time. Exactly. They start O and three and they make the playoffs all the time. They're the team that makes sure that the percentage of O and three teams isn't zero. Basically, yeah, Ruben Bain really struggled in the opener, got hurt in week two, long way to go on all these guys. You know how I feel about evaluating drafts. But sunny styles has certainly looked anything other than totally capable of playing inside linebacker in the NFL. The offensive line currently is top 10 in the league in pass block win rate. And Bill, I think Bill's been okay. They haven't really had, what are Bill's stats? I didn't even look at him. 142 yards, he's averaging three yards of carry. Yeah, he's had some tough going, but he also had his best run called back by a penalty that
actually didn't impact the play at all. So add 48 yards if Antonio Williams gets to the line of scrimmage, pre-snap, and he's 48 for 190. That would be a little bit better. Still not great through three games, but he's going to break one. He's going to have a couple of games for him. He's not obviously a guy that's going to be among the league leaders in rushers. You guys have watched the rest of the league enough. I know some don't, but many of you have. The running back group right now in the NFL is insanely good, just like the wide receiver group. I mean, I think B-Shon Robinson's the best player in the league. Honestly, I don't think that's an exaggeration. I'm saying of the non-quarterbacks. I think B-Shon Robinson's the best non-quarterback in the league. Kenneth Walker is a stud. Jameer Gibbs stud. Derek Henry, sake one looked great in the first half last night.
James Cook, did I mention him? The guy they'll face on Sunday, Jonathan Taylor. You know who's really come on as a back in the last couple of years, Deandre Swift? He's pretty good. That combination with Menon Guy is a really good combination in Chicago. I actually think Ashton Gentie's going to be a stud. I think the guy in Pittsburgh is underrated, Jalen Warren. Kyron Williams can still do it. Chase Brown, Aaron Jones. I haven't even mentioned guys like Bucky Irving, who he's looked really good this year when he's healthy, Javante Williams, obviously Christian McCaffrey. I mean, who am I forgetting? I mean, Bill's not in that class. He was a seventh rounder for a reason. And even if you want to say, well, he fell to the seventh round because he didn't really play college football his final year. Okay, so what would that have meant? The fifth round? I mean, yes, you get great backs in the fifth round. What was Chase Brown? Was he a fourth round pick?
Something like that. And another guy in this vein who's had a hell of a start to the year, facial tootin out of Virginia Tech. Out of Virginia Tech. What was he? Third round? Believe so. Yeah, there are a lot of great backs. I mean, we haven't even mentioned the young guys like Jeremiah Love. Fourth round of the two. And Jadarian Price. I'll tell you the guy that looks really good to me. And I was not a big fan of him coming out. Quinshaw and Judkins is really good. And that's a big key for Cleveland right now on offense. Is that they can run the football a little bit. I think he looks good. I know we're forgetting a bunch of guys. Right? A bunch of guys we're forgetting. Breast Hall. Hubbard can do it. He'll have a hell of a year. Yeah. Bill was never going to be among the league leaders in rushing. But he is a guy that I think we'll have a couple of games where we're going to think
this guy could really be good. He had a couple of those last year. It hasn't had one yet. It's three games in. Let's be patient. But yes, thank you for that Charlottesville Bobby. Yeah, I mean, this is why I say every summer. It's the PSA. Every training camp opening day. Just try not to get totally wrapped up into what you see here or read. Because none of it matters until the real games begin. And even then it takes time. I mean, look at this league through three weeks people. We haven't gone through yesterday. We spent so much time on our own team, which is typical for a Monday after especially a win like the one they had. But we didn't go through the rest of the NFL slate from Sunday. We'll do that on the show today. I'll also weigh in on Mike Loxley and the Maryland situation for you, Tarp fans or for anybody else that cares.
But look at this league right now. The Raiders are three and oh, the Texans and Chargers are in three. The Patriots are one and two with Drake May legitimately looking like he can't play the position after he was an MVP candidate for all of last year. He is a total mess right now. I can't believe the confidence loss. I watched a lot of the condensed of that game. That was one of the worst games we've seen a quarterback play in recent memory. Now Jacksonville's legit good. They are good on defense. They are good on offense. And I'm a believer in Drake May. I think Drake May is going to be a good quarterback. I do. But man, that schedule last year that they faced. And then since the postseason started for New England last year, they have faced nothing but excellent defensive football teams after a season last year in which they barely faced any until they got to the playoffs.
And when they got to the playoffs, it was the Chargers, the Texans, the Broncos and the Seahawks. And this season with the Seahawks, the Steelers and the Jags, he's had an absolute horrific seven game stretch of playing football at that position. But he's also faced some of the best defensive teams the league has to offer without a question that is true. But he really looks a mess. But that's the league, right? MVP candidate. He's the guy. You got to give this stuff time. It is too small of a sample size. One season, two seasons at that position. It looks like, you know, he can't play for a team that's one and two. And meantime, Dishon Watson is playing well for a Browns team that's two and one. And they play Thursday night against the Steelers. That will be a madhouse in Cleveland. That game is in Cleveland, right?
I'm pretty sure it is. Yes. Am I right about that? Correct. Yeah. That's going to be a, that fan base is so good. They never leave that team. It is a dedicated fan base that has been through a lot of the same crap that we've been through as a fan base. A lot of it. I mean, they actually lost their team when, uh, when Modell moved them from Cleveland to Baltimore. I mean, that is, that's got to be the worst feeling you can have. Other than family related stuff. Losing your favorite sports team. Now, they didn't lose their colors. They didn't lose their name and they were right back, you know, after what? How many seasons did the Browns not play football? Was it one before they got an expansion team? It's like one or two. It was a very short time. I'm forgetting right now. But that fan base is phenomenal. And they wanted Shadr Sanders because Dishon Watson legitimately looked like he was one of the more
delusional characters in sports of the last, you know, year, year and a half, saying that he thinks he's been playing well when he's looked like a total mess. And here he comes with the two best games he's had. And it wasn't great statistically, necessarily on Sunday, but he managed the game very well. They win against a team that can really score their good defensively again. That place Thursday night for Pittsburgh Cleveland, both teams two and one. Actually, the entire division is two and one. The entire AFC North right now is two and one. Pittsburgh Baltimore Cleveland and Cincinnati are all two and one. That'll be a cool setting. But my point is Drake Mays, a total and utter S show right now. A subject to change because I bet it will. And I think, you know, two next year later in this year, we'll think he's a decent quarterback. Dishon Watson was looking like football was something he wasn't interested in at all.
And he's playing well. Meantime, the Rams were supposed to go 17 to know and they're one and two. The NFL impossible. And when you start trying to dissect and and predict and you're certain about things, you can't be certain about anything in August. I don't care who you are. The teams themselves don't know. Quinn told me last year it takes sometimes half a season to really understand what you are as a team. I got this from Nick. I wanted to read this one. Nick wrote, I was one of those you made mad. By giving credit to Dan Quinn and the organization for the win. The organization is drafted and traded poor. That would be poorly, Nick. And yesterday was just what you say all the time. NFL randomness, meaning beating Seattle. To give Quinn and Peter's credit for yesterday, when Seattle beat themselves is a joke.
Seattle didn't beat themselves on Sunday. Seattle had 438 yards of offense. Sam Darnold threw for 379 and 4 touchdowns. JSN was uncoverable. They held Washington to 3 of 13. The three turnovers, two of them were legitimately forced. One of them was kind of forced. Tim settles literally in the picture for Sam Darnold with his arm up in the air with some penetration and the ball hit his helmet deflected up into the air and sunny styles picked it off. But those those were not handouts. Those weren't you know quarterback goes back and the arm comes forward but somehow the ball slips out the back or a punter drops a snap and you know all hell breaks loose. This was not that. Washington was the team that made a ton of mistakes in the game. I mean big time penalties that really really hurt. They tried to give Seattle the game to a certain degree, Nick.
With the unsportsman like conduct penalty on the extra point or on the Medrano touchdown before the extra point. I was thinking about this and I know I said this yesterday that if they had lost that game 34 to 33, can you imagine the conversation about the culture? You know Stefan Diggs hugging the goal post, costing them an opportunity to go for two in the opener when they were down to 17 to 15 and then up nine kicking an extra point to go up 10 and Frankie Lovus on the field. By the way, being held back by Stefan Diggs, you know irony. And can you imagine the lack of discipline conversation we would be having had they lost the game 34 to 33 because that would have been the focus. Frankie Lovu unsportsman like conduct missed extra point lost by one. There is that was that's the fine line in the NFL man even when you're playing one of the best
teams. I mean because they had two runs on third and long to basically save Dan Quinn from the what would have been the narrative this week. The team he's lost the team the locker room is a joke the culture's bad and they're totally undisciplined. If they don't get those two first downs Seattle is going to be in field goal range when they get the ball back that don't you think that that what's what's the win probability if Washington's forced to punt for Seattle with a minute 30 to go or before the two minute warning when they had the Rashad white run what's what's the win probability for Seattle 75% that they'll get in field goal range and win the game. As a secondary player it's got to be higher than 75% right you'd think especially without the secondary was playing kind of towards the end it felt like they were trying to give the game away yeah I mean they went 68 yards in a minute six down 33 24 to make 33 to 31 five plays 68 yards one minute six seconds was the length of the drive. God man so close this league so close to utter disaster the difference between hey seasons back on
what a win and oh my god they're oh and three and quins lost everything the diss the lack of discipline he talked about the three penalties of note which would have been the Antonio Williams not getting up to the line of scrimmage which cost them a 14 to nothing lead early in the game the chase on hit on Shaheed on the sideline and and the unsportsman like and he said we you know he kind of laughed about it because he could afford to laugh about it because they won the game but that wouldn't have been so funny if they had lost the game but anyway Nick back to you know what you said for again you're you're out of your mind if you think Seattle basically you know beat themselves Washington beat themselves seven ways to Sunday as well that was not a clean game by either team uh Washington earned it more and this league more often than not you go right to the turnover margin
if you had if you didn't watch the game you go to turnover margin and the team that's plus two or greater typically wins the game in Washington was plus three although the team they're playing on Sunday in deanapolis was actually minus three in the turnover margin Sunday against Houston and won the game um but I would say this to you Nick about giving Dan Quinn and Adam Peters and just the organization some credit for that win I've done a lot of both you know I understand that people don't necessarily think that way or think that you know a single game can can be influenced by that and I I'll admit that there's probably some exaggeration here but I've done it the other way so many times during the Snyder years I can't I mean no less than two dozen Mondays that's an organizational loss that's an organizational loss the reason they lost that game is they have a terrible organization it starts at the top and until that changes nothing will change
so to to be in an organization now or to root for an organization now that actually is competent and does a lot of the things that you need to do to become a winning organization and I do believe they're doing those things there's no guarantee in the NFL even if you do everything right again because it's such a fine line league and there's so many things that are out of your control unless you think training and some of this stuff can prevent injuries and I don't know that we've learned anything about football in terms of you know certain organizations that do things in a way that make it less likely that they'll have injuries I just think it's it happens or doesn't it happens a lot or it doesn't happen a lot or it's somewhere in between and I'm sure though training in that stuff medical stuff it matters and I'm not saying that we're good or not good at it I don't know what we are at that we had the most injuries in the league last year for starting players and
you know one of those players was the team's best player and that player was a quarterback so you're doomed nine times out of 10 when that happens but Nick back to your you know Dan Quinn to you know the overall thought that this was kind of an organizational win which was not my number one reason for the win my number one reason for the win was plus three in the turnover margin my number two reason for the win was Marcus Mariotta but I just said as an overview look one thing right now sorry Nick it's not debatable it's not an opinion it's an actual fact that Dan Quinn is a solid too much better than solid leader and players love playing for him and they have his back rather than stabbing his back they have his back so when things get rough like they did last year
or through the first two weeks of this season and you guys can roll your eyes you can scoff at this you can think that it's absolutely hyperbolic wait all you want all right I'll go to what John kind said to us on this show and I talked to John about this at the end of last year during the last three or four bleak weeks of an absolute miserable season and the reason I point to John is John's been on the beat more than anybody and I'm talking about on the beat meaning he has been out there every day that the media is supposed to been out to be out there for 20 plus years and he reported on was there for the Snyder era he has seen a locker room of men turn on coaches and turn on each other because it happened a lot during the Snyder era at the end of miserable seasons which 75 percent of them were and John said last year that it was the first time in covering this team for
20 plus years that a bad season a miserable season didn't result in a back stabbing everybody environment he was incredibly impressed surprised because of his previous experience at how positive the vibe was the culture was in the midst of what was happening last year and I would imagine after two games this year it was the exact same thing and I think you saw some of that on Sunday back in a corner desperate dangerous but together in a next man up situation because they had key players down for the game so Nick you may not like me giving them some credit for it and I'm not going to obsess about it other than to answer your email but just let's be clear on this whether you like Quinn or not it is a fact that players have consistently liked him and had his back
in bad times Dan Quinn is a leader and he along with his staff and the front office have created a very positive culture they just have now also a fact is that just because you have a positive culture it doesn't mean that you're you're going to win it doesn't mean that you're going to be a good team it just means that you've got a slightly better chance of being a good team you know about our team during the Snyder years I used to say when they'd have the occasional season where you know things went okay 2005 2007 of course that was the tragedy of shantaylor but they rallied late in the year they made the playoffs uh you know 2012 2015 um I would say that a good season does not make a good organization good organizations good cultures give you a chance for sustained success
a bad culture a bad organization you have to rely on the one offs you know the aberration seasons and almost every NFL team you know stumbles into because the league is very close talent wise so you can stumble into as a bad organization you can stumble into a good season we've seen it happen washington won the division in 2020 they were in the playoffs in 2015 in 2012 2007 2005 with within a bad bad culture and organization Cleveland stumbled into the playoffs a few years ago it happens but a good season does not make you a good organization good organizations like I think washington is now certainly they are compared to the old organization but that's you know a low bar they have cleared that by a lot this is a solid organization right now is it the best no one said
that is at the best front office I haven't said that have I called for Dan Quinn or Adam Peters to be fired or think that they're on a ridiculously hot seat I don't but it doesn't mean that I'm right they've had two seasons to be judged on and now three games of a third season the first season was a 12 and five regular season the most wins in 33 years two road playoff wins and an NFC championship game appearance for the first time in 33 years the second season was five and 12 with a roster that was more injured than any roster in the NFL there's context around both seasons you know the first season you can say oh they had a schedule that broke right for him okay they got to face two teams on the road in the playoffs that were banged up on defense a little bit I mean
come on they they went on the road in one two playoff games in the NFL playoffs yes Tampa was a little bit banged up in Detroit was very banged up defensively but they won those games and there's context around the five and 12 disaster last year the context being their best players didn't play much football but one season was the best in 33 years by miles and the other was injury ravaged and I think really hard to evaluate I said that during the entire off season talked to Quinn about that in February or March the last time he was on the show I said how do you really evaluate you know a season like that he said it's hard and he went to the injury thing not to blame it but to say we've got a look in to see why we ended up with so many injuries and so many loss players did it have something to do with our medical our training our practicing our training camp
and now we have a third season to judge them by and this third season is in its infancy were three games into a 17 game season and heading into Sunday there was a lot of this isn't going well Quinn's going to get fired during the by week Adam Peters may survive but he'll be on the hot seat next year etc etc look you can do what you want to do for me I'm intent on not being certain certain I'm going to have feelings I'm going to have opinions but I am intent on not being certain about anything with this team anything until at least at least half the season is in the books we knew coming in that with two new coordinators it could take some time we knew coming in that with
the most new players signed in free agency of any team in the league including 11 to 12 expected contributors on defense it would take some time we knew that you know even for people like me who don't play the schedule game that two road games against division teams followed by a week three game at home against the defending champs had the potential to be a difficult start so I'm not going to tell you what you need to do Nick or anybody like you for me I'm just telling you I am going to sit back and let this crazy NFL play play out enjoy each week as a stand alone because that's what they are 25 to 28 teams these are standalones may not be for Buffalo may not be for Kansas City all right and it may not be for Miami you know there are three or four or five teams that you either know are not going to be very good or you know barring lots of injuries are
going to be very good everybody else every week is a stand alone week it's not a predictor of things to come until you've got eight or nine of these banked and then you can have some level of certainty but even then it's tricky because the things you can't predict like injuries they can happen in the second half of the season they're happening to this team in the first half of the season Sunday I'm not wound up like wow this is the kickstart three and two in two weeks you know they should be able to beat Indianapolis should be able to beat the giants no I'm not thinking that way they're an underdog against Indianapolis they could be easily an underdog in week four against the giants each week's a stand alone week and you've got a better chance if the week before it sucked to play well if your coach is a really strong leader and has built a strong culture and I think
he has it won't save him if they go five and 12 or four and 13 and and they have relative health because that's not the end all be all being a leader you know you got to be a good coach I'm not you know not taking away the responsibility he has to be a good you know exes and owes coach a good clock in game management coach a good judge of you know coaching ability in his hires a good coach of an and talent evaluator when it comes to his players a good teacher all of those things I just don't think it's very debatable Nick that Dan Quinn's a strong leader and the culture of the organization is pretty good and that lent itself Sunday to being ready to play with a group of people who did not want to be oh and three and they played like it all right we didn't have a chance yesterday to go through the rest of the NFL it was a wild Sunday again this league
is fun on a week to week basis we'll get to that we'll recap all of the games from Sunday next Kevin Chiencho the team 980 and the team 980.com the weight is over footballs here and so is draft kings draft kings is now live in all 50 states one app every sport nationwide new draft kings customers sign up with code team 980 spend five bucks to get $200 in rewards within 21 days includes all markets in partnership with draft kings the crown is yours gambling problem call 1 800 gambler 1 800 my reset Connecticut call 888 789 777 777 visit ccpg.org on behalf of boot hill casino in Kansas bettax pass through may apply in Illinois 21 plus void in Canada bet with draft king sportsbook to get bonus bets that expire in seven days or trade with draft kings predictions to get predictions dollars that expire in one year event contract trading involves risk of loss predictions offer void in

that was the backbreaker if you were on the chargers like i was on sunday they were up 13 to 10 third quarter and just in herbert forced one in and it got picked off at the goal line and returned all the way back to the 40 this was one of those games where when you check the turnover margin number if you didn't watch the game it's not going to tell you the story because buffalo had five turnovers in the game the chargers had just that one uh so the bills were minus four and yet they won the game 24 to 16 the chargers defensively were solid in the game Josh Allen two interceptions in the game and a fumble responsible for three of the bills turnovers this was not vintage Josh Allen it was vintage James Cook who rushed 24 times for 154 yards and a touchdown and i'll tell you who's looking pretty good for the chargers in his second year remember he looked
good but got hurt against us in week what was that week four week five last year when the chargers played the skins and omari and hampton the rookie from north carolina last year got hurt so the rest of his rookie season was somewhat injury plagued but he looks good so far but the chargers man in big big trouble at oh and three uh and just in herbert really not looking the part there's always been the question about Justin herbert in the big games that he's played and he hasn't really gotten it done in some of the bigger games that he's been involved in during his career um lots invested in him they really went after the offensive line to try to upgrade that they have talent gym harball really struggling to get this thing together in l a the chargers at oh and three uh now uh will face uh the seahawks broncos chiefs rams Texans and ravens in order over the next six weeks you never know
it'll look like when it gets there but as an oh and three team it doesn't look good for the chargers going to Seattle uh let's go to pit spurred for the bangles and the Steelers bro deep drop and burrow gets away for a moment loses the ball Derek Korman got there Steelers try to jump on top of it and they do yeah joe burrow key sack fumble to end the game uh they were down three and driving late in the game they lose to the Steelers 30 to 27 i'll say this about the Steelers until i'm blue in the face if you're one of those people that just read box scores and don't really watch the games or don't even really pay attention to what people are saying about the games and you think Aaron rogers can't play quarterback anymore that is a tell me you didn't watch the game without telling me you didn't
watch the game uh he's spinning it as good as anybody in the league right now in terms of his throwing ability uh they pushed it down field more on sunday against that revamped bangles defense which looked a little bit like it did last year um 19 of 34 292 yards i think i said this to you yesterday max uh look this up to see if you can find it the Steelers have to be among the league leaders in dropped passes through three weeks and i would imagine decay metcalf is on that list you know somewhere in the top 10 uh Roman Wilson dropped one that turned into an interception um in the game but they've got some stuff what i'm i pull it so this is from fox sports drops i sorted it by drops number one and number three are both commanders Stefan digs and Terry McClure and are i i i i i was gonna actually say to you i bet Terry's on that list somewhere digs is on the list too yet digs is one Terry is three what about metcalf i'm scroll and metcalf is twelve he has two drops
okay well the you know what they didn't call one of the drops in the in the opener a drop because he actually got in before the ball got there then it got there and um you know there was a penalty called i think i forget anyway uh the Steelers have a running back in jalen warn this dude is under rated very underrated uh rico dowdles on that team too he was hurt for the game on sunday but jalen warn last year rushed for nine hundred and fifty eight fifty eight yards do you know his career average yards per carry is four point eight yards per carry this is a guy that in his first four years in Pittsburgh played in the significant majority of games and had in his last three years two hundred and eleven carries a hundred and twenty carries and a hundred and forty nine carries he is one of those backs that nobody talks about he's very good uh and they ran the ball
on Cincinnati on sunday he was seventeen for a hundred and twenty seven average seven and a half yards of carry and then had three catches for forty nine yards if you want to watch one of the more entertaining players in the league to watch darnel washington all right uh he got drafted back in twenty three in the third round by pittsburg he really got his opportunity more so last year and then got hurt late in the year so it was not available to them down the stretch including uh their playoff loss to the Texans uh but he is six foot seven two hundred and seventy five pounds number eighty for the Steelers he's got good hands he's obviously a large target and then he's excellent after the catch because nobody can tackle him one of the more entertaining players to watch I picked pittsburg to win this division I'm actually it's three weeks in I mean we'll see it's
long way to go and Thursday night is a bit of a trap game at cleveland uh for them both teams two and one shouldn't really feel like a trap but it does to a certain degree uh but I think that they are better than people think patrick queen playing at a high level tj what playing at a high level yeah they beat since an addy thirty to twenty seven to get to two and one on the season uh let's go to heuston for indy and the Texans here's strad one last play key is pressuring he steps up in the pocket let's it fly toward the end zone and it is incomplete and the pulse have hung on and wanted nineteen seventeen to end their nine game losing streak yeah the game was an indie my fault um Spencer Schrader their field goal kicker who was actually banged up and had a groin injury uh he made four field goals in the game including a forty three yarder was sixteen seconds left and the
cults one nineteen to seventeen to avoid a no in three start uh same situation washington was in you know against a team that everybody thinks is really good and this was another game man you you don't don't look at the turnover margin for this one I think you can do it most of the time indy turned the ball over three times didn't get to take away they were minus three they had more penalties in the game uh they only generated about two hundred and ninety eight yards in the game but they beat the Texans nineteen to seventeen they made just enough plays uh and where they really excelled in this game was staying on the field by converting third downs uh seven to fifteen on third downs gave them a thirty five to twenty five ten minute advantage they ran twenty more plays than Houston did in the game and they win nineteen to seventeen you know they played a really good game offensively against the chiefs on Sunday night football the week before
had a good chance to win that game um and lost in overtime thirty three to thirty but Jonathan Taylor off to a solid start two hundred and fifty eight yards and four rushing touchdowns in the first three games add to that another eleven catches uh he is a do it all back and like barkley in the opener but and and maybe to a certain degree javante Williams um but unlike philly Dallas and Seattle indy I think will try to run the football and I think it'll be the test for our team in terms of are they a legitimate run stopping defense or were the first three weeks a bit of a charade or head fake because Dallas and Seattle didn't even try to run the football look I don't know what the answer is to that you know um on on the run defense through three games I think it's looked really solid Ken Law the edge setters away in particular the linebackers they
look like a much better run stopping team but again I think you have to at least consider that Seattle didn't even try to run seventeen rushes by their running backs Dallas really didn't try to run why because why do that when it's pitch and catch throwing the football against Washington's defense it is nice to know though or at least it's nice to consider the possibility that this defense might be good at something this year but the real test I think will come Sunday against Jonathan Taylor and let's not forget a quarterback that is a part of the run game in indy uh as well we know that Daniel Jones can certainly end up being a part of designed runs option runs and certainly as a scramble uh but you know what the key Sunday is you got to put the game on Daniel Jones which means you got to step up stop the run and not let Jonathan Taylor
and the cults control uh the ball and the clock that'll be the test though I think that'll be the real test for the run defense here early in the season I don't know that the last two weeks was a fair test because I don't think the opponents really tried to run the football they certainly didn't stick with it that's for sure all right we'll continue through uh the NFL Sunday card we did not have a chance to go through a lot of these games yesterday and there were some big time stories and big time finishes we'll get to those next but they can move the football out there boy it is desperation time he's picked again Jory and Jones rumbling down to the fight you're lying patch Jags on Sunday was an absolute blowout what play was that I was trying to identify with that was the the the second Drake May Interception the second the one into the end zones one
of the worst throws you'll see all year by a quarterback uh I don't know what the deal is with Drake May he's obviously lost confidence Josh McDaniels and Mike Raeble need to get it back because he's a talented quarterback uh for sure I I will just say this if it is lost confidence that has led to you know at this point um six picks one touchdown through three games few other fumbles he's been sack nine times you know going back to the postseason last year where he had fumbles and interceptions and took 21 sacks and the four playoff games um if it is confidence that is not a good thing that your starting quarterback that you think is elite can actually lose confidence those guys typically the the alpha you know elite quarterbacks you can't they can't lose confidence the ego doesn't allow it so there's a I have a theory about what's your theory about Drake May and Mike Raeble's relationship
I think it so there are two things that I know about Drake May it's that Drake May well three things I guess Drake May loves football he loves Jesus and he loves his wife Mike Raeble is his head coach I think Drake May might just not have any respect for Mike Raeble well that's his problem I suppose none of what's happening in Mike Raeble's personal life is any of his business um follow guy like that kev and so if if he's lost respect for the coach that coach timman is second year to a super bowl uh they need to consider other options I don't think that that's it I think he's actually lost confidence um and I think that that's got to be brought back with some easy pitching catches and maybe an easier defense which by the way the bills on sunday for the patriots on the road will probably be the easiest defense they have faced since the end of the regular season last year again I mentioned you know chargers Texans Broncos Seattle
in the postseason last year a disastrous run for May his team was winning though not because of him or the offense although he made a couple of clutch plays that run remember on the third down in the snow in the championship game he had a couple of good throw a touchdown throws against that Texans defense but for the most part he was dreadful in all of those games and he has started off against the seahawks Steelers and Jags the bills I'm telling you will be the easiest defense he is faced since the end of the regular season you got to get him some confidence he's too talented he's too good he is really struggling meantime I'm probably burying the lead here as far as my personal interests go uh Jacksonville I thought last year at the end of the of the season was a really good football team capable of making a deep playoff run and I still think had they held on and beaten Buffalo what a playoff game that was they had already gone to Denver and one I think they could have
gone to Denver and one and then I definitely think they could have won against New England uh which would have been a road game because right uh Jacksonville was like the three seed New England was the two I think uh last year um their excellent undefense they have talent undefense uh Trevor Lawrence is playing at a high level like you said Tutan the back from Virginia Tech and Chris Rodriguez who's had some good games already he's getting you know let me just see what his numbers are for the season I looked at these yesterday so he's he's got uh he had six for 23 in the open or six for 13 eight for 37 and a touchdown in the win over New England so he is the second back behind Tutan um they're a good football team uh there was something very odd that happened in this game do you know what I'm gonna say Max did you see this Trevor Lawrence in the fourth quarter oh yes uh they she's supporting Basial Tutan Kevin what do you mean that's what he said so they
when they asked him why did you take that knee at the one he said I was I'm supporting Basial Tutan fantasy owners okay you okay that that's that's a terrible answer the war's answer that is a if that's what he said let me tell everybody what happened there eight minutes nine minutes left in the game the Jags have a 28 to six lead and Lawrence is running into the end zone untouched from about 15 yards out 16 yards out I got the answer by the way and he takes a knee at the one in like we're under two minutes and the clock's gonna run out like they're not gonna try to run up the score there were nine minutes left in the game and the lead was 22 I mean I don't think New England was gonna come back but you know still want to you're still playing football with nine minutes to go in the NFL you don't go to a running clock there's no mercy rule with nine minutes left he took a knee it was the strangest thing and what was the explanation I'll I'll let Trevor give
it to you Trevor the play with eight minutes left when you escaped and went down at the one you don't want to score touchdown well I mean hindsight probably just to score because we scored the very next play trying to run the clock out a little bit you know I'm trying to help support the Basial Tutan fantasy people out there so got Basial no touchdown all right I think that that was you know that was in fun I don't I think that there is tongue in cheek there a little bit I think the intention was he was thinking well we can burn another you know 40 seconds times three but they scored on the next play Tutan scored on the next play so they burned all of 40 seconds it was just very very strange to see that very strange to see that with you know it was actually closer to nine minutes than it was closer to eight minutes I think it was eight fifty left yeah nine minutes had just ticked off the clock as he was running yeah I mean look you know the awareness of things like that
you know running backs going down receivers going down not scoring you know DB's on a pick six not scoring on what would have been a pick six because the game will end you know I would say that teams weren't even aware of those kinds of things until 20 years ago 25 years ago I mean you go back to football in the 80s and even maybe into the early 90s there wasn't a lot of that there wasn't anywhere near the recognition of the importance of clock management in the NFL it just wasn't it's strange but some coaches really got it and understood it but things like that were letting teams score those things weren't done until 25 30 years ago the first time anybody let anybody score was actually it was an odd situation because it was in a Super Bowl it was green Bay and Denver that Super Bowl and green Bay let Denver score late to take a ten point lead because it was the
only way they had a chance to get the ball back but I think that was the first time that it was done but anyway uh yeah uh you don't have to start doing that with nearly nine minutes left in the game you know if if you're DB and you make a pick and there's nothing but green grass in front of you okay and you're up 17 go ahead and score you don't have to fall down short of the goal line well why the silly when the games already over anyway Jacksonville very impressive which by the way makes Denver look very impressive too because Denver Rally debete them the previous week there are some the AFCs really interesting because it just seems like every week three games minimum seem to be matchups between two teams that everybody could envision being there at the end in this week Jacksonville at Cincinnati uh let's go to Cleveland for the Panthers and the Browns
Bryce Young will back pedal and throw up a duck at its answered by an intersection for the Browns Dishon Watson hearing the cheers early in the game from the Cleveland faithful a sell out crowd for their home opener a home opener that before the season started everybody considered Todd Monkin to be nuts for starting Dishon Watson but the thought was oh let him soil himself in two road games and then we can start shoulder Sanders in home but instead Dishon Watson went out and completed 24 of 30 last week in an upset win at Tampa and then their trailing late they he leads you know a fourth quarter drive that ends in a 14 yard touchdown pass to Harold fan in junior what a tight end he is with a minute 48 to go Browns Rally for a 21 to 18 win over Carolina uh Dishon was 16 of 30 nothing special 144 yards two touchdowns no picks no fumbles sacked
just two times ended up with a really solid 60.4 QBR um in the game and there's no talk right now of anybody other than Dishon Watson starting for the two and one Browns Quinchon Judkins is impressive 18 for 70 they run the ball they've got some young receivers to in Denzel Boston and KC conception own to go with Harold fan in junior and then look defensively you know they are still very good even without Miles Garrett Jared verse is obviously very good uh this guy Mason Graham had two sacks he is really a monster the first round pick a few years ago from Michigan Carson Sessions your Sessions you're the defensive rookie of the year last year they still have Delpit Ward uh if this is a good football team defensively if Watson can just manage these games the Browns aren't going to be the worst team in the league i saw some power rankings that came out we'll get to those a little bit later on in the show Cleveland has gone from like 32 or 31 up to like 20
with two straight wins uh all right let's go to Detroit for the jets and the lions you down a couple guys at the skill position like Jameer Gibbs with space and a touchdown is the day and it's the lead for 225 to play back in fourth game in this one the jets were right there with the lions i mean this was a game that the jets led you know early then they were down 24-10 but came back to tie it in the fourth quarter 24-24 a geno smith outstanding in the game 31-37 for 321 yards three touchdowns for him uh he did have a fumble in the game that was crucially got sacked a couple of times they could not run the football against Detroit Jared Goff Jameer Gibbs they got some weapons man you know Jameer Gibbs seven catches for 65 yards in a touchdown 20
carries 99 yards and two touchdowns look the lions have two home wins over the saints and the jets and a road loss at Buffalo they can score but they can't stop anybody at this point uh the NFC north are really interesting division but the jets have been a much better team here early in the season the two losses were both winnable games uh let's go to the metal lands for the Titans and the giants and james winston start or plenty of time now chased out or throws across his body and are sifted javaan holland in the end zone 12 to seven uh in this one uh the giants uh with dominant zvada that he's the kicker it's it's not gram-geno anymore um he kicked four field goals in the game uh they had a 12-nothing lead
the giant defense did lose brian burns to a torn acl he is done for the year so in back-to-back games they're starting quarterback and arguably their best offensive player lost for the year james was 14 of 22 for just a hundred and eighteen yards sacked three times in the game didn't throw a pick didn't fumble the football uh the giants did their best to run it um you know a ret rush for 138 yards scataboo was a big part of the offense uh had 20 caries had three catches uh in the game and the giants it doesn't look pretty at this point but they are two in one with the cardinals coming to town before they go to washington in week five uh we'll get to the four o'clock window games which really all of them ended up being thrillers and then the sunday night game maybe the best of the day we'll do that and then we'll get to what Quinn said yesterday about
jaden daniels and the trip to london that he will make to practice with the team this week leading into the game on sunday kevin she and show the team nine eighty the team nine eighty dot com uh don't forget you can watch this show and the team nine eighties youtube channel just hit the subscribe button and hit the like button when you get there the weight is over footballs here and so is draft kings draft kings is now live in all fifty states one app every sport nation wide new draft kings customers sign up with code team nine eighty spend five bucks to get two hundred dollars in rewards within twenty one days includes all markets in partnership with draft kings the crown is yours gambling problem call one eight hundred gambler one eight hundred my reset Connecticut call eight eight seven eight nine seven seven seven seven visit ccpg.org on behalf of boot hill casino in Kansas bettax pass through may apply in Illinois twenty one plus void in Canada bet with draft king sportsbook to get bonus bets that expire in seven days or trade

and all was at one second time how long one time right this is for the victory from fifty six yards loops kick oh my goodness barrow a trio in Rio and the ravens with a walkoff winner Jim nats tj watt on the call in Rio the trio in Rio loop Tyler loop who remember missed that forty four yard field goal to win the division on the seasons final play Sunday night football week 18 last year in Pittsburgh knocked through the kick from fifty six yards out and the ravens beat the cowboys thirty four thirty one so about this game i mean i think you just fast forward to the end and Dallas gets you know a big stop uh to keep the game a three point game trailing uh
thirty to twenty eight and they drive the ball down the field and they have on that final offensive drive first and goal at the baldemore two with twenty three seconds left and a time out this is supposed to be one of the most prolific offensive teams in the league and they are you know between the twenties and they are in games that you know they are coasting in um i just don't feel it with dac at the end of these games i just never do the last throw to pickens he sailed over his head they had used their time out i get it it was third and goal at the baldemore five fourteen seconds to go and pickens is wide open he gets separation and dac panicked and threw it thirty feet over his head so you start there with how do you not score first and goal the two with a time out left in twenty three seconds real quickly to for those that would say they shouldn't have called
that last time out with fourteen seconds left after the dac scramble got stopped at the baldemore five yard line i think it was um be and by the way the cowboys had another penalty a false stark down there that hurt them uh you know because they should have called the time out with like seven seconds and they would have here's the problem with that if you let that clock go down too far baldemore has one play before they're penalized to intentionally hold interfere it's set etc to make sure that Dallas has to make the decision between one play for a touchdown to win or a field goal to tie with fourteen seconds left you have a chance you know if there's a defensive holding penalty to get a first and goal it's not down to one play because now there are ten seconds or nine seconds left i don't really think you're thinking about leaving them with less than seven seconds because you're concerned that they're going to kick a game winning field goal to beat you
in regulation at that point i don't think you you are at that point um however uh what happened next was a decision for Aubrey to kick the ball out of the end zone and a tie score with seven seconds to go personally i thought that was a mistake i think this and these new kickoff rules that give you the ball at the thirty five on a touchback you're one completion like we just saw one chunk play away from field goal range and so the one chunk play from the thirty five with seven seconds there's a chance you're going to get that play in six seconds with a time out left i think the decision and this is not you know a benefit of hide hindsight i would have done it in the moment kick it down there in force a return to burn up the all of the seven seconds or most of them uh uh that's what i think they should have done i guess obry kicked one out of bounds you don't want to give it to him at the forty if you're kicker can't kick the ball into the landing zone in a big spot that's an issue uh the second deserved to go back on the clock the defense was pathetic they
were in man coverage you know that i i think they were in man coverage and somebody was playing sort of a midfield robber and he didn't get deep enough he's he's covering the the ten to fifteen yard throw what are you doing ten to fifteen yard throws not going to get you beat the twenty five yard throws going to get you beat and it did baltimore thirty four thirty one Dallas drops to one and two let's go to the super dome for the raiders and the saints snap it with three cousin's bire's banners wrestling touchdown raiders so i know that some of you know that i do pay attention to my guy Kirk he's been outstanding in these three games it was a good fit it's why i took the raiders on the over five and a half i thought that this was a good fit between kubiak and cousins and
the raiders you know they spent on free agency they actually had some really good moves Tyler Lindar bombs been an absolute hit bowers this was his first game back people his first game back he's the best tight end in football he's their best player on the team they were two and oh without him in his first game back ten catches for a hundred and sixteen yards you think Kirk makes guys better he's got another excellent tight end in michael mayor they've actually not been great running the football until this particular game they trailed twenty seven to sixteen he put them on their back offensively and then the defense forced three consecutive turnovers over the final three drives including a four-down stop that that ended up being a four-down turnover uh but was a sack really anyway and the raiders are three and oh getting ready to host Kansas City Sunday at four
twenty five in Vegas the raider fans are into this thing in Vegas and i'm assuming in oakland and raider fans all across the country because they do have one of those national kind of brands and fan base uh deals uh they're good i think they're good they have what looks like a daunting schedule we'll see what it looks like each game when they get there uh they play the chiefs this Sunday then they're at new england they've got buffalo the rams um but this is a team that if they stay healthy you're not going to see Fernando Mendoza this year the raiders are going to be in it with a chance to compete for a playoff spot all season long they have playmakers on defense they're a little bit you know they're not they're not super stout against the run uh but they they create turnovers it's really offensively where you see a real professional quarterback running a system that he's totally familiar with and that is built for him with two outstanding tight ends one of
them being the best in the league a second year running back who could become a star uh rookie running back in micwashington junior from arkansas who had a big touchdown run in the game and clinton kubiak is doing a hell of a job raiders are three and oh by the way in this game chase young two sex chase youngs having a season man he has developed into a big time strong twitchy past russia it would be ironic wouldn't it if chase young it just 27 years old becomes the past russia that we everybody thought he would be when washington took him at number two overall in 2020 let's go to tampa for the Vikings in the bucks four-tout and one that'll stop some and now he fires down field
prime lines down rogers that's the play for the Vikings uh Tampa is oh and three baker may field out for at least the next three weeks with a dislocated right thumb his replacement just so everybody knows is jalen daniels not jaden daniels jalen daniels from kansas he is going to be the starter as a rookie quarterback uh they don't have a veteran uh backup there he will take over for the oh and three buccaneers who lost to the Vikings 23 to 16 uh minnesota right now an absolute defensive monster tampa was two for 17 on third down two for 17 a minnesota is not a good team offensively they're not their defense is carrying them right now they want a football game minnesota did with nine first downs two of 15 on third down Carson wentz i'm sorry culler murray 15 of 29
barely over 50 percent completion percentage had a pick in the game was sacked three times a qbr of 25.4 they couldn't run the football against tampa and they won the game 23 to 16 minnesota's defense right now per dv o a is number one in the league with an overall rating that is one of the top three highest in dv o a history through three weeks of an nfl uh season brine florist can do it and i've said this before they have a good talent defensively it's not the elite level talent that you see in places like philadelphia or with the Rams uh but it is good talent but my god um they are coached by brine florist oh it would have been great had washington it been able to rest him away uh to get him in the off season yeah minnesota's three and o led by a defense that is just lights out in a division that does not have a good defense
in the other three situations green based defense is struggling to truits is terrible and chicago's to me is still a big mystery as well uh minnesota also they get the horrible dolphins this week that could be a smeltes pick uh then they play teams like the saints and cults before they get lions bills 49ers and some teams like that kevin o'Connell remember coach this team up to a nine and eight record last year uh the jj mccarthy story no longer hangs over their heads although it will forever if jj mccarthy goes on to play well somewhere really tough spot for the vikings it's one thing's obvious about the jj mccarthy trade because we have no idea what will happen in new york we have no idea if he's just young in immature but will grow up and become more mature and into a good quarterback that's possible you know a lot of these guys jino smith baker may field sam darnold you know all been counted out now no one's ever counted out somebody this quickly
after trading up and selecting a mid number 10 overall in the first round one thing is definitively true kevin o'Connell in particular does not think jj mccarthy is going to be a good quarterback because do you know that minnesota doesn't have a quarterback under contract for next year not one now could kaira mary play well and get a contract could carcin wence be their starter next year i think that there's a lot of thought that if minnesota ends up being a good team because of their defense and they don't have a high draft pick that a guy like cousins could return their next year when the raiders feel forced to play mendoza even if the raiders have a good season this season he would be 39 years old kevin o'Connell's ruling the day that he didn't keep him and tell him that they wouldn't draft jj mccarthy but still they're proving what really wasn't true until
recent years that a defensive first very subpar offensive football team can win games in this league i don't know if they can take it all the way to january and deep into january but that team is an absolute monster on defense confused people week in and week out in tampism s and i feel for tod bulls because they're not terrible on defense but without baker may feel in a rookie quarterback you got to think they are in big big trouble uh let's go to uh san francisco northern california for the cardinals and the forty-nineers second down play action perty on the roll thlaw said for kennel and kennel in for his second touchdown of the day kennel already with twelve catches three touchdowns he had two touchdown catches in the games
sunday man i'll tell you this was one of those games in which i had the cardinals plus the eight uh... and they were down thirty six to twenty seven late and they did the thing that you try to do which is getting range quickly kick the field goal so you at least get that second opportunity at a possession and they did for the cover uh thank you very much uh to chat rylan farmer turp for knocking through a forty nine yarder to make it thirty six thirty you know the cardinals are feisty like they're one and two and they're not going to be a playoff contending team certainly not in that division but chikoby brisette can really play jerem i love had his best game rushed for ninety yards on twenty one carries wilson's a good receiver tray mcbrides at top three top four tight end in the league and they've got some players on defense not a lot on defense they're better on offense and with michael florer in the you know mcvay system really making jacobie brisette look like more than
just a competent quarterback at this point he's completing seventy point one percent of his passes four tds one interception and overall qbr through three games in the low seventies and that you know there's another example the dude's thirty three years old he's been with like five or six teams including remember being here and when you're smart and you can make the throws even if you're not elite or even if people don't perceive you as a starter you're going to hang around enough and if you get in the right situation it can really work out for you um he's an easy guy brisette to work uh to root for meantime the forty nineers have been awesome in their first three games uh the Rams game obviously in australia now the last two have been against the dolphins and the cardinals they get the Broncos on sunday but Brock perty nine touchdowns in three games he and Kirk are tied atop the league with the most touchdowns let's go to sunday night football for what was the game of the day final play of the game snapper fire his second interception uh
who found two picks in the final uh four minutes of the game the other one was a pick six sixty six yards on a return that gave a Denver the lead uh late in the fourth quarter a wild game by the way um that was uh Stafford's thirty third pick six that he threw in the game the most ever in NFL history uh he passed Brett farf who threw thirty two pick sixes during his career um Stafford still a hall of favor uh and uh through for three ninety in this game and brought him back after the pick six to take the lead and then there was a call late in the game that was absolutely horrible one of the worst calls that stole a game basically from the Rams Denver down twenty six to twenty three driving with a minute fifteen left on a third and six nicks is out of the pocket he's struggling he's rolling throws one like he's kind of throwing it away intended for Pat Brian intercepted by Wallace
and they flagged him for defensive pass interference you've probably seen it at this point this was not defensive pass interference it was a great play by Wallace to catch it to get a knee down in bounds and the game wouldn't have been over because Denver still had three timeouts left but the Rams would have had the ball up twenty six twenty three with just over a minute to go uh and would have obviously been the odds on favor to win that football game at that point instead it was called defensive pass interference a few plays later uh Denver scored to take the lead with forty seven seconds left and what you heard was a last ditch effort from Stafford into the end zone in the games final play Rams had a sixteen nothing half time lead in this game so I'm gonna end just the around the NFL segment with this I think that bone nicks is really good
now it helps that he's in a Sean Peyton system it helps that they've got some playmakers on offense but bone nicks was the sixth of the six quarterbacks taken in the top twelve of the twenty twenty four draft and all he's done as a starter is win let's face it Denver's in the Super Bowl last year and a much better opponent for Seattle had he not broken his ankle in the AFC divisional round game in the final few moments against Buffalo playing on that uh uh broke broken ankle for I think one to two plays before uh they got the game winner um against Buffalo and overtime thirty three thirty I think it was in overtime uh then ruled out Jared Stettam started the AFC championship game I mean bone nicks delivers in the clutch this dude is is a big time clutch player a lot of poise a system that fits no doubt but he is dangerous as
an off schedule quarterback as dangerous as jayton no nobody's as it's as dangerous as Caleb or or jaden Daniels but third among the group I really have come to think that bone nicks is going to have an outstanding NFL career I think it's contingent on some level of remaining in a system that is so friendly for him Sean Payton has been able to coach up quarterbacks in his day but bone nicks man some some of these games too you're like early on you're like yeah he can't do it and then when it matters most latent games they scored thirty points in the second half against the Rams thirty in the second half of that game nicks ended up with two touchdown passes in the second half um no running game at all against the ram defense yeah I like bone nicks is a quarterback right now I the fit is perfect and he plays big when it matters most I mean it would be
ironic out of the six quarterbacks if bone nicks is in the conversation four or five years from now as being the best or certainly in contention for the best it would also be ironic if penics junior emerges into that he was great the other night at green bay two totally different quarterbacks that draft will be scrutinized for years to come and you got to wait on it obviously it's too early still but each one of them with the exception of McCarthy have had their moments all right Dan Quinn talked yesterday in his day after post game press conference and he told us who's making the trip and who isn't jadans making the trip will he play Sunday or not more on that next the weight is over footballs here and so is draft kings draft kings is now live in all 50 states one app every sport nationwide new draft kings customers sign up with code team nine 80

why didn't Dallas intentionally hold on the first downplay with seven seconds to go and not let zay flowers get down the field absolutely great point you know the nfl uh... instituted a rule a few years ago that you couldn't commit multiple intentional fouls like defensive holding on the same down to kind of manipulate the game clock uh... they called the uh... penalty the uh... palpably unfair act rule so you can do it once but if you do it a second time and it's deemed to be intentional to run the clock down it's a fifteen yard unsportsman like conduct penalty and the referees can reset the game clock if the offensive team wants it reset but you can do it one time a hundred percent they should have taken zay flowers on that snap put two dudes on them as if he was a a gunner on a punty and tackled him before he got down field he but
he was the big target you should have held across the board with two or three deep you know prevent safeties they snapped the ball ff five six seconds dac throws checks it down or throws it out of bounds five yard penalty and now you're down to one play from the forty yard line yeah nick brilliant super super smart and that's what should have happened because again the new rule that they put in a few years ago it's got to be multiple intentional defensive fouls with the idea that they are the defense is trying to manipulate the game clock so that you have to make a decision on one play kick the field goal or go for the touchdown you know ten twelve seconds at the end of a of a game or at the end of a first half you intentionally hold on the first down they're eight seconds you do it again and there are three seconds left but they'll reset the clock to eight seconds
and they'll assess a fifteen yard penalty but not on one play with seven seconds left so yeah really a nut Dallas just has not been one of the brighter teams in the league you know under any of their coaches in recent years probably a result of the owner not being one of the best in the league other than at making money he's very good at that all right Dan Quinn yesterday wanted to play some of this sound for you first of all I wanted to go back to sundays game he was asked about like the three penalties the chase on you know unnecessary roughness hit on she heed on the play that Medrano almost had darnled wrapped up for a sac darnled escape through it down field uh... and uh... wish i thought that was a textbook this is how you teach it the pull reporter niki jibbala asked the head referee Carl chefers and chefers said he launched
himself it doesn't matter if he hits the neck or the head if he launches himself against a defenseless receiver it's unnecessary roughness this was quinn on that but quinn also weighed in on the uh... illegal formation penalty on antonio williams that cost them the forty eight yard touchdown run by bill and the unsportsman like conduct penalty on as we know now frankie louvue after the picks six by madrano this was quinn on all three of those penalties and uh... three penalties we didn't get to yesterday one the chase on along the sideline the books like it might have been a good hit to the uh... the formation that cut the bill touchdown run called back and then what happened with the celebration that yep force yep that forty eight yard extra point yep i can i can hit all of them um... let's start with uh... kada bomb on the sideline uh... look back at from the tv copy it
is certainly felt like a hit that was in the strike zone that's what we're aiming for on the sideline and so catch not a catch sideline to go but i liked um... after the quarterback outside the pocket kada bomb finished in the play on the sideline so what to look back at it but i felt like we're trying to coach you know like strike zone hitting and i felt like it was into that location it was a tough hit um... the doubt about it very but i thought it was a clean hit it wasn't anything um... you know that that felt like roast to the level of that for me but that's their interpretation i know um... things are moving at full speed it's held a lot different than you know when we're doing it framed by frame but that was my look at it when i was watching the copy uh... second one uh... after the shift on bill's run we started as you remember like in a and the formation come back into it so the receiver has to step on the line in that instance it was a good check by Marcus um... based on a certain look to see if we could get on to the edge and so that was um... that was a missed opportunity for us and then the third one um... was a i guess you know unsportsman
like celebration so it was a player on the field that was not in uniform so which resulted in the 48-yard extra point and miss of that you can uh... imagine my thrill with that so we had a good discussion about that in the meeting today and uh... i love the energy our team brings um... it was like definitely a team win and i felt every bit of that very and our team does but uh... those are ones that like not Kayla Vaughn's but the other two uh... man let those are in our control and let's get those done yeah let's get those done meaning let's not let those happen again real quickly on the um... Antonio Williams uh... a legal formation penalty i went back and and looked at it because i said yesterday during my recap like that it there is a possibility or an opportunity for a veteran quarterback Marcus mario to make sure that the rookie receiver after he checks out of the empty set brings bill back into the backfield to make sure that is right tackle Josh Connerley
is covered up by a receiver he's got to take that step up to the line of scrimmage and then you'll see receivers often they'll turn to the side judge and say am i good and the side judge will say yeah you're good the right tackles covered up right um... there were only three seconds left when bill got to the backfield on the play clock so it would have been tough for Marcus to identify it communicate it to Antonio Williams and then get the playoff in time so that's just on Antonio Williams i mean he's a rookie but he's in the NFL and he's got to know the rule and he's got to step up and he didn't and it cost him a 14 nothing lead early in the game um... you know i was thinking about can you imagine 14 nothing Seattle at home the last time that happened January 2013 playoff game 14 nothing lead uh evaporated though into one of the most infamous games in franchise history the one that will be featured one day in a 30 for 30 on rg3 uh... okay so
look you know he addressed the team on the unsportsman like conduct i've already talked about this this would have been the story of the week if they had lost the game 34 33 and there would have been cries for quins head because it would have been uh received perceived as a team that's undisciplined you know from digs hugging the goalpost in filly to frankie louvour running out under the field and taunting sam darnold to draw a 15-yard penalty i think that's what uh it was reported that that's what he was doing he was celebrating the pick six and i guess pointed at sam darnold as well or the Seattle bench they flagged him for it of course that's a flag and would be ensuing extra point was missed Seattle comes back to win that game 34 33 you lose by a point that you uh couldn't convert be and by the way steven still has to convert the 48-yard extra point
okay i know the weather was wasn't great i know that there was some wind on sunday with the norris through the whole thing you got to convert 48 yard kicks whether their field goals are extra points after penalties just got to do it in this league but can you met i mean thank god where we are today that conversation would have been really hard oh and three 34 33 loss quinn who is a phenomenal culture guy they've got a good culture but all of the talk would have been about the lack of you know institutional control i'm kidding but the lack of discipline on that play all right this was quinn uh talking about something i also was interested in you know the amount of control that apparently the quarterbacks have at the line of scrimmage this year we've seen it with jaden in the philadelphia game and and in the first half of the Dallas game and we saw Marcus it was one of the reasons i thought Marcus had forget the statistics did which showed a nice game not a great
game but really what he was in control of it the line of scrimmage was so impactful to the final result of the game there were four to five plays he clearly checked out of out of and all of those plays turned into successful plays you know it doesn't mean the first one was a terrible play but it means that the second one they can to was a better play and a veteran with the poise and an understanding and a weak swartha practice and a game plan against a really good defense quinn was asked about mario to altering plays and having that ability to do what he did at the line of scrimmage then hey dan with Marcus just looking at the the game footage and then hearing a little bit of bad what happened at the game it's like he was audible in the right term but he's gonna be seeing what's going on and making some changes at the line how much is that it was occurring and how much
is that is him being the better it is and seeing something and changing out of it a little bit of both been and you're accurate on that assessment of him putting into some good plays to go including the third and nine play for Rashad white and so here's a look to get into it and so that's part of our system you know where they have the ability had to line of scrimmage to get into some calls you're accurate that like he and David were very in sync in terms of best plays best location to go hit on some and like I said this is a tough front that makes it hard to get the ball run in some scenarios so to have some spaces at the end to get that done that's a big deal there you go really really good job by mario on sunday from that perspective and jaden did some of the same things in Dallas as well in the first half and then finally I want you to hear and I'll play it for you when we come back what he said about jaden's injury last year the timeline on that and
where the timeline is with respect to this week because do we know for sure he's not gonna play he's making the trip today and he's going to practice this week you'll hear what he said and then I want to ask you right now at 30123 0980 30123 0980 if jaden's practicing this week and he's healthy and the elbow looks good do you want him to play against indianapolis or would you rather he sit one more week and the team start marcus mario da against indianapolis 301230980 kevin she and she had the team 980 and the team 980.com so when was asked a lot of questions about jaden daniel's yesterday in his monday post Seattle game press conference after he had announced that jaden was going to make the trip to london would practice this week nothing on whether or not uh... his return to play means this sunday against the colts in london um he was asked about the
injury last year and whether or not they have a better sense about when he'll be back this year here's what he said and with regards to jaden sorry about something you said in earlier today or earlier this week uh... last time when he took the first dose location he was out a month free game for the by-week is there something different with the injury that gives you hope that you could be back sooner than that now yeah just from me i guess you know hearing from the the medical team about where it's at and how he's doing i'd say that's the difference but as far as the compare and contrast i don't have a uh... you know an answer for you on that only that disvolving the guidelines you know that are set and for him going through the process of getting the opinions you know both on in new york and in la um you know kind of like sets the plan in motion and so we'll stick to that uh... you know i watched um the part of the press conference that they had online they actually missed the first few minutes went back and read the transcript of that he didn't really
give much indication of what the thinking is uh... he's gonna practice you know he's in that process that quen calls return to play so they're gonna evaluate him in practice i mean is it possible that he dresses and he's the backup sunday against the colts doubtful if he can play he should be the starter sunday against indianapolis i think that that's what it should be but i'm also not privy to all the doctor stuff i this could be niavete i'll i'll concede that we're just too much faith in the medical group and the ability for quen and company in the organization to take the medical advice of verbatim uh... i just thought find it hard to believe that if he needed four weeks last year after the first time and i know that this was not nearly the traumatic injury that the seattle game was last year
and for all i know the things completely hill healed it just was they punched it back into the socket or whatever and it there's no swelling there's no issues he's ready to play and they're gonna do a brace maybe you know i don't know enough about that but i think if he's clear to play this week i think he should start against the colts sunday in london and mario to play great he did exactly what what they wanted him to do in the event that they needed him to do it when they decided to sign him back for a third consecutive season a smart free agent signing to bring mario to back you know he's a quarterback that is a veteran that you know has the ability to go in and run an offense function at an nfl starter level and he's similar stylistically to jaden so it's not like you have to significantly change the game plan like if flacco were the backup quarterback you
have to significantly change things to a certain degree maybe not as much in the blouse scheme as the king's very scheme but if jaden's cleared to play and he's going through practice and he's practicing and he looks good i want him to play on sunday i want him to start i want him to play that's my answer what yours at 301 to 300980 all of our nfl conversation on the team 980 presented by xfinity score the most reliable wi-fi one price five years guaranteed xfinity imagine that max before i get to the calls if he practices and things are well and he's cleared do you want him to play sunday in india in london it's we're not no i don't because just because of the ptsd that i have from last year watching him get slammed the ground by any band gankled ptsd if you return
against the giants you're probably right but i'd it's just the same feeling an extra week is going to make me feel at least a little bit better while i would love for jaden to play uh we're immediately at following that but i mean listen mario to just came away with a win so against a really really good defense yeah he did we've also seen mark is mario to stink up the joint i agree that's happened to i look i actually would i feel i feel good about mario to feed the starting quarterback sunday against the colts i don't know how i feel about the game i think this is an absolute toinkot coin toss of a game going in um the odds makers don't think so the odds makers think that indianapolis is the better team they're favored by three this isn't you know this is a neutral field environment um but no if he's cleared and he practices and he takes the reps with the ones by the time we get to you know thursday tomorrow thursday friday or he's taking enough of
the reps with the ones yeah i absolutely want him to play early results by the way the poll of the day is driven by wall door fondad all starts with the click at walldorfondah.com if jaden is practicing this week and looks good you want to play right away or sit one more week right now playing jaden daniels is at 38.9% starting mario to this week is at 61.1% all right we'll let it marinate for a while just a little bit early return go vote it's going to be a long night here on twos day first twos day of november uh let's go to stand in new jersey go ahead stand okay Kevin how you doing good stand what's happening yes i absolutely want jaden to play on sunday if for the only reason i think this guy can get hurt taking a peg of groceries to his car and pop is all bof it's too heavy so i want to know right now if this thing's going to come out he's got a full time to recover from it but he obviously has to play if he's able to play in practice this week there's no two ways about it mario does
fine but jaden if he can play let him play and if he injures himself on a sack or anything else which is probably going to happen and nobody's going to be surprised at least you can get the surgery earlier i got a couple other things for you that uh you always do what did you make of what my buddy said about what the cowboy should have done with z flowers well i'll tell you what first of all i got a couple things here so you gotta let me go here this probably unfair act i know a lot of it was done with the frankie louvue jumping over the top which you know was done on purpose you got to check the rules on this you can't just hold the guys anymore like the raven did on a pond about 15 years ago yeah i remember that i have multiple you can't have multiple multiple guys on the same play just taking down guys they will call that now having said that you can make it look like you're committing exactly like not on purpose though well can i read do you want to hear what the rule says the rule says multiple act tevin if you do this with everybody across the board
they will put the time back on the clock i've yelled at this from the stands when they do what when teams have done it to us i'm like give us the time back obviously dan kwan or nobody has any clue that the time is even owed to us i'm sure uh you know our our they've already wouldn't even have no last year whatever but the time is owed back to you you can't do it with multiple people across the line if you do it on purpose and they judge it on purpose they're going to put it back on the first time okay i'm reading i'm reading it from the rulebook and you are you're actually correct okay because it can be committing multiple intentional fouls on the same down and it doesn't have to be on the second consecutive play so the way to do it is of course to take their best receiver and make don't make it look intentional but you've got to absolutely chuck them and move them around down the field and and commit a penalty to make sure that he doesn't get recalurants you have to do that with flowers at the very least and you could and you could do that with anyone you just make it less obvious i've been saying that for years well now that they put in that act
you can you have to be less obvious okay what else do you want to go back the skins and the clock first the first half the clock management when they had that third and four run to white from their own 40 with about 30 seconds right that was i don't know if it's mario to check to that but that needed to be a run plate period it could never be a past play if they called a past play and he checked to a run plate they're wrong they have to if he gets the four yard run then you go on and you continue to drive and get close or maybe even score whatever if you don't get the first down and you get to yard you then take it down like they did if you throw the incomplete pass on third and four you're now stuck with the 57 yard or you miss i get that with 25 seconds now they get to come back with their i get i get that i i now you know that is that's incredibly conservative thought okay because with 33 seconds to go at the Seattle 40 yard line you know and you still
have a timeout left you can get in much better field goal range and by the way with a big chunk play you can actually potentially take a shot or two at the end zone but to prevent the downside which is a missed field goal after an incomplete pass and now Seattle is one completion away from a field goal attempt i get that in if they if that was a check out have to go back i think he did check to a run it doesn't mean that he they they checked to a run from a pass he could have checked to a different run from a different run um that's true i i think that was absolutely no the matter what i don't i think you have to play that conservative you can't pass in case of that in completion or somebody batting it down i love that they ran the ball there got two yards and called the timeout with the walkoff i just i think all those end to half situations should always be played for three points and not giving the other team a problem with under two minutes to go them going play action from on first down from their own end zone no and people yeah of course not going crazy with that yeah you have to get a first down there i gotta get a first down let's i think it was 147
everyone's gone let's go 21 seven into the half i go let's go 14 seven into let's go 14 seven let's feel all right a first down or two and and we're we're fine at 14 seven 100 percent yeah i didn't need 17 seven i know how that works it's gonna be yeah what else did you have okay so the gunners Tyler Owens when he runs down on those kick on those puns yeah how come these guys this happens every single week how come they can't just make a football play and down the ball they always go in so out of control it's just just just just with your hand as you're losing momentum into the end zone take the ball and just water backwards that's not a hard play it isn't hard they don't know i'm curious as if he knew the rule okay did you see the eagles last night first in ten from their own ten with 19 second bubble screen out the bubble screen that is absolutely i think you check to it well you can't under you can't be the check no you can't
run that play if you just tackle that the five Kevin yeah no spike in a field goal it's all right i know i know it's not a hard concept yeah well look i mean i'll tell you what he is in those situations and i've seen it before and look he didn't play well last night but he realized that spiking the ball ended the half and he got that snap off and and pushed into the end zone for a touchdown but i could not believe actually that buck and acemen didn't harp on the fact that they call the bubble screen with no time left and say it's a bad play call and then if you're and then Kevin if you're the bears you know that push pushes coming it's been coming for four years did you see the well i don't know maybe they thought he was going to spike it maybe they thought he was going to spike it you can't play for a spike there you know the clock was running down that way yeah but the defense of players aren't there they're not as aware as the quarterback is well Kevin they should be aware to get in those gaps and yeah not don't care for this fight you should the bubble screen was insane the bubble screen
at the 10 yard line is not look i mean six sixty five seventy seventy five percent of the time it's not going to score and it's going to end up in bounds actually if you looked at the replay de vante smith should have cut it to the outside i think he scores yeah yeah no the truth but he also has to break a tackle to get to the one yeah he did it was just the cranes stupid play i think he didn't do 100 percent okay did we solve all the world's problems the last thing yeah exactly this is something that i'm in the minority on i actually think you're going to agree with me on this i've been saying this for years i absolutely hate the kick well i'm happy that Dallas got screwed the other day with that going to the thirty five and they get one play the bull just needs to be put on the freaking twenty yard line and let's play football i know the NFL want excitement and all this nonsense that that game should have been an over time from a meal down i don't like i don't like it either i let me just say this i don't like the tweak last year to the thirty five i i the problem is they didn't get enough returns with the the
touchback being to the thirty and now they get a ridiculous number of returns i'm with you okay understood you don't need you who cares who cares about kick off anymore just put it on the 20 these tickets are too you know i agree with you on this you know how easy it is to get a 15 it's too easy the offense isn't earning it as much it's too easy no so with with eight seconds that's gonna happen like that stuff is and it should not happen because the rule the rule should be just put it on the twenty and let's play i mean well they said it was the first time we've ever seen that happen with seven or seconds left well of course because of the new kickoff rules no what did happen with kelsi a couple of years ago with a cheese with thirteen that was thirteen seconds that was thirteen seconds seven if it's thirteen and they put the ball at the twenty it's a different story these things play different and that's what it should be well the ball the ball that the ball that year was at the twenty five right i forget where it was i forget where they got on the where they got it either no the point the point my point is the reason it's never happened in seven seconds or less is because you haven't had a kickoff that produces a thirty five yard
line start to the drive and i don't i don't like it either but i got to move on but i you know how much i love your calls we could just do that for twenty minutes with stan do a segment with stan every week everybody else on the jade and yes or no stay on hold kevin she and show the team nine eighty and the team nine eighty dot com the weight is over footballs here and so is draft kings draft kings is now live in all fifty states one app every sport nation wide new draft kings customers sign up with code team nine eighty spend five bucks to get two hundred dollars in rewards within twenty one days includes all markets in partnership with draft kings the crown is yours gambling problem call one eight hundred gambler one eight hundred my reset Connecticut call eight eight seven eight nine seven seven seven seven visit ccpg dot org on behalf of boot hill casino in Kansas bettax pass through may apply in Illinois twenty one plus void in canada bet with draft king sports

to play healthy practices takes reps with the ones do you want them to play sunday in london against indianapolis or would you rather he sit out one more week in marcus mario to play considering the mario to i think probably had his best game uh that he's had all around game that he's had considering the opponent considering the circumstances considering the offensive wine reshuffling the whole thing um i thought it was his best game uh i want jaden to play if he's clear to play it's not that hard the angst over his return is going to happen whether it's this sunday or the following sunday or after the by week against filadelfia and to be honest with you i don't want too much time to pass before he's back out onto the field i want to tap in sooner he was playing very good football i don't want to be in a situation when he comes back there's a rust factor again kevin and arlington go ahead hey kevin thanks taking my call i totally agree
god you are sensitive about j j macarthe you are really sensitive kevin love j j macarthe heaven you will never acknowledge he's had an NFL game where he's looked good he's looked good into games even if i said i i think he was jill montana against our defense okay but you know but he's continue to say uh he's not been good at all and whatever and you probably he hasn't been good at all well he was good into games and he hasn't played that much i agree i've said that i've said that i've said that it's too early on all these guys that you you think i am so anti j j macarthe because i didn't like him coming out and you did by the way i really liked penics coming out and so far that doesn't look good but i've said about all these guys you got to give it time it's absurd now the one difference is i like that it's except the leg that was very good at multiple acl
i do think what we've seen with j j macarthe though kevin is unprecedented a guy that you traded up for to draft in 2024 at number 10 overall and he's gone two years and three games later for a fifth round pick i thought of by the way when you texted me back i thought of the baker may field example too but cleveland gave gave baker mayfield his almost he well they gave him his rookie contract they didn't pick up the fifth year option and they traded him in the fifth season to carolina or in the fourth season to carolina whatever they gave him four and a half years j j macarthe they wanted him out of the building that's unprecedented given where he was drafted maybe he's a total punk and yeah i love to have an ocunal it doesn't look good it doesn't look good but the far boss seemed to feel differently about the kid i know maybe they're right we're going to have to see i think it's kind of fast like he's here they're going to be a total bust like everybody
thinks or it's going to be an incredible um uh come turn around i think kevin can i just tell you and just talking to some of the people that i know in minnesota there's a lot of like you know k o c couldn't stand them for a number of reasons but i think what the harbors seeing him is he is an athlete and james winston isn't so they can put an athlete out onto the field with scataboo and company and that's the one thing he's proven he is an athletic quarterback so that's not what james winston is i think that's why they traded for him although he was not their first choice according to reports they were looking for another veteran first but nobody's dealing good veteran quarterbacks because of the nature of if you lose number one anyway to jaden we go go ahead i just can i i just want to say one i think he's jimmy harbore when he was drafted in the second round by the bears everybody thought he was a jerk he started out as a jerk he didn't do anything there he eventually figured it out i think macarvey if he's going to
figure it out he's a lot like carbon i think carbosses himself and him but we're going to have to find out again i've been blinded by michigan maze and blue my apologies so okay yeah i we got to play the kid jaden has to play i mean unless you know they say no it's too soon but you know i again i'm reminded of hallfamers and i want jaden to be one one day i'm reminded of hallfamers warner and breeze who had dislocated elbows on their non throwing arm they went into a brace as soon as they could and they played the kid has to play if we're going to be anything this year i'm not to say that markis was a fantastic he was but if jaden can play let the kid play i mean one other thing when he got hurt when he when he dislocated his second time what a tough arm breath he's still continued with the play i have no doubts anymore about this guy's physical tablet that that ever really did but he can handle the pain and he wants to play let him play unless it's
medically unsound that's where i come down with i'm with you thank you kevin and our leanson let's go to jimal and dc jimal go ahead what's going on kevin what's up jimal i agree with you 100% if he's clear that's the only way i have any any hesitance on this and i don't think any doctors would you know put their you know ability to practice on that i have to date and so if he's clear they're that i play him and for a couple reasons kevin for one which you said about the timing that's the reason why it took so long for him to get going and for the delphy like we he hadn't played in a long time so the longer he goes away we're more likely to see that happen so in the second point being i felt like the most important point he hasn't won a game in over a year like i feel like like i just want him to play and win a game it's been since October 5th i believe against san diego the last time i mean i'm sorry the law of sands
was the charges since he's won a game so just from that standpoint kevin i just want to see you start at potentially winning games is to get that monkey off his back and get everything going man so yeah i'm waiting to finish any of the other games i guess he finished the chicago game right but yeah no i i i agree any finish the philadelphia game i'm with you i want i don't want to wait on this if he's not at risk if he's healthy if he can do it like he was doing it in the first half against the cowboys why wait why let rustic humiliate over you know a two or three week period i mean if it's the giant game it's the giant game and they just want to give it one more week to heal you know appropriately but if he's out practicing i'm assuming it's healed although maybe what they would say actually is he can practice because it's there's not an issue with his you know right arm uh we just in a game there's more risk because he gets tackled in a game so we want
to give that another week so you know that would be a reasonable answer to him practicing but not being able to play but if he can play if he's clear to play i want him to play i'm with you thank you Jamal let's go to johnny and merland johnny go ahead hey given how are you uh good john look i'm i'm i don't want to see him play this week white franque because first of all uh my earlier i did a very wonderful job hitting c-aram which is a one best defense and the league i like him to continue that momentum as well wait no no i lost you there johnny you broke up a little bit say say say it again the notion that is medically clear then that he has to play is just a dozen flight with me i like the team coming back after the giant game white franque and i think mario that kept over
up winning those two games the next two games and if they want to sit them up and then be a backup so be it but i don't i don't think he should be started well what might you say if he's medically clear and you're okay with him being a backup meaning he might go into the game and play what if that's i mean that's what person i don't know why you wouldn't want him to start unless you just prefer Marcus mario da no that's not the case but he needs time to hear completely but i don't think he should be then he then he won't be medically cleared and he won't be in the game as a backup so that's why i can't is what what i don't i don't want to play doctor i want to i want to rely on the doctors if he's medically cleared and they say he's ready to go and this is what we're going to do in waiting a week or waiting two weeks isn't going to make a difference for me he plays period if one or two weeks is going to make a difference then he shouldn't be medically cleared and he won't play but i think that i'm asking the question because i think there's some of you
that actually just would love to see Marcus mario da for one more game um thank you johnny uh let's go to mark and largo mark go ahead i want him to play i'm with you look let me let me say this to the people in the fan base every 30 years ago Kevin you remember this this heathen gust and all this other stuff where everybody if somebody wins you think this is the guy that could be the guy we need to get out of that thinking if it wasn't for jaden we wouldn't be relevant as an organization right now let's just say that um Kevin you know what i'm saying it's true and you and these people act like they forget it now my radio white doctor subahong can't stand jaden dangles basically i think because of this brain but almost said she would champion more if he laces it up and plays with the brace if he laces it up and plays with the brace watch how she comes on here and can play honestly i'll do respect what would i i don't know why you
interjected that into the conversation because you got a lot of people it's like it's supposed to been out oh well she said that so okay yeah i'm thrilled i'm thrilled right because the frame is scared everybody couldn't care less yeah i would you Kevin Kevin Kevin Kevin yeah i just look up this is where you and i are the same we we both love jaden angles we both think he's the best quarterback in that drive class so i don't think that's the problem with with us i think the longer he stays out Kevin this is the problem and i think you have a dust on this the longer he says out he becomes rusty that's why he had a problem when he was playing when he when he came back to Minnesota he was still kind of rusty i know i don't i if he's clear and he's medically but clear to play that means he's he's two weeks from playing at a lights out level and there's no rust that's accumulated i'm ready to see him do the same thing against indianapolis sunday and london under percent but i don't want him to play if he's not medically cleared i don't want him to play if they
say you know what one to two more weeks would actually really benefit the elbow i'm fine then waiting another one two weeks well what would i say this i think if he doesn't play son he's definitely going to play with the tires you're going to need him against the nine is you're going out to do a thing because i think they're going to be great mario to goes out beats the cults and the giants and then you bring jaden back for a loss in santa claire going into the by week against the forty-nine hours how's that's gonna how's that gonna play for two weeks around here listen we can't get fan base we can't get robbed of mario and james playing each other one last time boys oh my god no well hell no no we can't have that crap that would be disastrous if he's if he's ready to go when there's in there's no benefit to waiting he plays i that's from that's my my belief but anyway i'm what you want that i'm what you are i know you we've identified that you
and i earn agreement on this uh you know what i like being in agreement with you thank you mark and largo paulie go ahead big guy head to the w man i held to the w um i was telling max that i don't have a problem with him being the primary backup is the i don't what and listen to everything listen to somebody call or they're listening to you yeah i do want to play can you remember i was going to say get strapping up and go yeah so what are you talking about what didn't give me the backup thing for no no because he i didn't have this like medically kid if he's medically clear to play let him go and he's practicing yeah put him out there let's go we need to let's see only answer from you i would have expected right and and plus i think this team around him is better this is not i don't think this is not last year in minnesota where the team around him was faulty so i i feel more
confidence with the team that's around him so yeah man strap it up wrap it up go get some man let's go we bite back in it head to the w yep tony and dc go ahead i can't have an hour you today thank you so i call hey i i i want him to play and i i i'm i'm hoping i kind of felt like when they carted him off and they'd retrospect that he had a towel over his head that that he was over reacting if he was so blunt but um if he can't play he can't play but but you're the one i think you said and could you ask the previous caller why he uh was bringing up about being backup and i thought you said that you didn't want to mount their playing second string and i can't think of a single reason even if he had no reps if he's medically cleared and suited up why he wouldn't go first i mean if he'd you know that's my plan but i have to ask you a question about something else you said that i think the name was criss about that get going away with the kickoff and i can't imagine not having the kickoff because i can't imagine i don't know no no no no no no no no no no no
with stan not doing the way with the kickoffs going back to the old way of doing kickoffs oh totally yeah yeah yeah i thought you're seeing you away with it just what he i thought he said just put the ball the 20 and start the game and like no i don't know if he if that's what he meant if that's what he meant i thought he was saying let's go back to a touchback it comes out to the 20 if he was saying do away with the kickoffs i actually then misinterpreted misunderstood when i would prefer to go back to the last rule look the the new kickoff rule if the touchback comes out to the 30 i'm okay with it the 35 is a game changer on two fronts makes it so easy to get into at least field goal range so the offense isn't earning it agree and then the result they were looking for which was an increase in returns they got that it was a massive increase in returns why because teams don't want teams starting at the 35 yard line because they don't have to earn points at that point like they typically have to be kicking the ball the end zone i'm sorry
what about doing away with kicking the ball into the end zone like that a penalty they have to make it well they are penalizing essentially by giving the the team the ball to 35 yard line no but i mean for the kicking team that will not be allowed to kick it into the end zone well you're right you're right you're right you're right but that yeah well there is there yeah a touchback is the 35 yard line which in essence penalizes the kicking team for kicking it out of the end zone dallas did it at the end the other day because they didn't think it was possible in seven seconds to complete one chunk play with a time out left and get the field goal team on which was a mistake right right got one thing that uh uh did Daniels looked great he was healthy look strong he looks like he's playing smart and safe and i was i'm still stunned that we beat the best defense in the NFL and i don't trust marioda and i'll trust them either i'm in wide teams that i'm 63 so we're at nine years of being a fan and i don't i just don't trust any of it anymore
but i trust you yeah donny thanks look marioda has played some good football for this team and he's been an excellent backup quarterback for this team there have been some bad games and some bad bad moments and by the way that's why he's a backup that's why after all of these years no one wanted to give him a starting opportunity but the scheme with kingsbury was a good one for him probably even a better one for him than the current one uh and he played an excellent football game on on sunday overall i i'm not talking about statistically he missed some throws for sure he probably missed some reads but the management of the game the checks that he made that was a veteran poised performance against an excellent defense with it with a reshuffled offensive line in front of him uh Ross finished it up for us go ahead because he plays sunday if he's medically and practices this week with the ones yes or no absolutely Kevin you know Daniel Jones is a
lot call of fame quarterback it hits that again up and normally up to the count of four yeah oh yeah we need absolutely anything we can to go up there when this game and go beat up on indy um yeah and jaden like listen if he's gonna go out there he's gotta protect himself from himself you throw a pick me and you bear rely on one of your athletic teammates to chase him down and make the tackle what you do catch them then what you know i'm saying and then you know if you can evade a past rush and you're staring a stack right in the face just hit the deck faithfully you know i mean i think he well liked enough universally toward a disc apple when he's on a ground the post just crashed on top of him unless you play for u.s.c. and you like to do dirty cheek shots but you know i remember uh i thought that was a that i thought that was a bang bang play i think that was look i thought the reaction after the u.s.c reaction after it was an absolute horror show um but i actually thought dante more i thought that was a bang bang play i thought it was a hard play for the defender to stop i i did yeah you you saw him in the fishing position and then
the way he was carrying about after the fact that's the that's probably what um uh the reaction the the reaction was was not human um it truly it was it was it was it was we'll see with the big 10 comes down on u.s.c. the hit itself i think it's just one of those bang bang plays that are unfortunate i think if a quarterback's going to protect himself he's got a slide earlier not i agree i agree with that and that's what i'm hoping the same thing to jade is he's run out of doubt but i definitely want to protect himself better than he's ever protected himself in the first half against Dallas as a runner he was outstanding in doing that so it certainly looks like the message has gotten through now to your point if he throws a pick and he's the guy that can catch the db or the linebacker running down the field you want him to just let them score now i mean if you're if you're the last resort and you're going to catch them at an angle i mean we got to figure something now maybe like crash in front of his path or something but don't wrap them up and tackle them or anything like that something but just be smart about it because i'm i'm at the some i'm at the
fever game the Sunday before last and i'm sitting in front of a cowboy fan and you the mystics are beating up on the fever that's bad enough and i'm over here and it's got behind me saying all watching in the score at halftime i think jade and daniel hurt outside around i'm like what and i'm like three four five years in since i'm already like talking crazy i'm like in the moment oh man we got to wait for comario taylor i want to make sure i'm i'm gathering in the information correctly during the skins cowboys game you were at a wnb a game yes so i went up to indy to go see my family for the week and uh my wife took me to the fever game which tiptoff on the thing i found the washington was playing Dallas at the same time yeah now when she first bought the tickets now but when we realized it was one of the ones she bought the tickets did you say we're we're gonna have to do another fever game because washington's playing Dallas at the same time it was our anniversary and i was gonna watch it sacrifice is you're making me work for this fine it was your anniversary yeah get out of here i
was gonna i didn't think i was gonna see a cowboy fan sitting directly behind me telling me play well i mean cowboy fans they're fair weathered i mean you know they'll they go to wnb a games when their football teams playing our fan base shouldn't do that not that there's anything wrong with going to a wnb a game but you know washington and i was we too i mean i will get you sorry anniversary i let me just say i got better management of those situations uh that wouldn't have happened but i hear you you had to do it because it was your anniversary mystics take on the dream tomorrow i want to talk about maralens close lost to you cl a on saturday in college park and what it will mean for michael oxley i'll finish up the show with that next the weight is over football here and so is draft kings draft kings is now live in all 50 states one app every sport nation wide new draft kings customers sign up with code team nine eighty spend five bucks to get two

why he if he's so good why he's still at Maryland and why didn't he get seven eight million bucks to go play at a real football school i think malik's just okay is a college quarterback and i've been saying that since last year and maybe he's athletic he's big he's strong he's got a big arm uh... but he's not a good quarterback at this point um not yet things could change so a week after taking a beating at home against virginia tech uh... Maryland loses by fifty one to UCLA by the way as a one and a half point underdog very rarely do one and a half point underdogs lose by fifty one points michael oxley for those of you you uh who don't know and don't care is in his eighth season in college park eighth he's thirty nine and fifty one overall seventeen and forty nine in the big ten seventeen and forty nine in the big ten with zero winning seasons in conference
thirty two games under five hundred that record and he's in his eighth season i tweeted out after the game uh and it got a lot of reaction is there a power for football program worse than Maryland's right now the job opening won't be coveted and there were a lot there was a lot of pushback from some angry Maryland fans who usually say to me you're too much of a homer you love turgian you love but i'm not a big locksley fan and i haven't been a big locksley fan as a coach is a recruiter yes as a coach no um by the way i don't think Maryland's the worst power for a program but they're in the conversation you know with right curse Purdue you know Duke maybe but Duke won an a cc championship last year they're in the conversation um the fact that he's in his eighth season with that record tells you just how insignificant Maryland football has become to not only the markets in which
it resides Washington and Baltimore but within its own supposed fan base whatever that means at this point because they couldn't come up with the money to buy him out last year they're gonna come up with the money to buy him out there sure by the way this isn't reporting um on my part because i don't know anything for sure but my locksley is not going to be the head coach at Maryland next year when he loses his job i have no idea i mean i i'm kind of with the new athletic director jim smith which it when i say i'm with him because it would appear at this point he's like well what's the point in doing it now like we can't hire his replacement today um i don't know when it'll be done and of course they still have eight games left in this season i don't think he's gonna turn it around why because i just gave you his record he's never had a winning record in the big 10 he's 32 games under 500 um and it's time at a real program my locksley would have lost his job last year the year
before or even before that but Maryland football is so distant in terms of interest level and enthusiasm they are one of the seven eight power four schools that care much more about basketball i guarantee you of buzzwilliams doesn't get it done this year there will be a lot more passion and a lot more done about it than allowing eight seasons of mediocrity yeah there was a three year stretch where they went to bowl games one all three bowl games my locksley is a real good recruiter and i'm sure a wonderful human being who's had terrible tragedy in his life losing a son several years ago and i wish him the best but it's the Maryland football program right now that is dead and has been since Ralph region was here that's 16 years ago now last thing a really good coach i'm talking about a coach that gets more out of less when marons been good
Ralph region bobby Ross Jerry clayborn got more out of less not less out of more they need to find the guy that can get more out of less and if they find that guy marron football can be recess resuscitated again i'm a lifelong fan man i want it badly but Saturday if that wasn't the final straw last straw i don't know that you know anybody's going to show up at games you can get tickets to the right curse game in a few weeks for two bucks and stubbub back tomorrow hey y'all i'm maddie and i'm poodle and together we host the podcast reality gays we are two ridiculous homosexuals who love nothing more than talking about reality television and tearing it a new one so whether it's 90 day fiance love is blind love after lock up or any other trash tv show about lonely hearts looking for love your gay besties got you covered joe new shows every week following listen to reality gays wherever you get your podcast
