Good Tuesday morning guys, I'm Jerry Miller. Thank you kindly for joining us on the Jerry and Jerry show. This, the source of the source for anything UVA sports related. There are UVA fans who cheer and root for UVA sports. And then there are UVA fans that are subscribers to JerryRackliff.com in $8 a month. And the fans that subscribe to Jerry Rackliff's website get 40 to 50 individual stories per 30 day period on Virginia athletics. There is no media platform that is offering more content for UVA fans than JerryRackliff.com. The price of a cup of coffee $8 per month makes you guys in the know. Judah Wiccarrer is behind the camera. Who do you Rackliff is the star of our show. He's a Virginia sports
Hall of Famer. And I'll tell you what Virginia is got a lot to be excited for. They absolutely beat the brakes off of the Cavaliers, the NC State Wolf Pack. They crushed the Wolf Pack. They tamed the pack. They beat them like like a drum folks. Now Virginia's favorite to win nine of its last 11 games. SMU in Florida State. The only ones according to Vegas where Virginia is not favored. That Florida State matchup is basically a toss up at one and a half Florida States at home. You get three points for playing at home. SMU's four and a half, three points for playing at home. You can make an argument. Those games are toss ups. We'll talk football. We'll talk the quarterback. We'll talk the running game, the offensive line. We'll ask questions about the passing game and camera. It's in health and whether Bo Pribula will stay healthy and we'll talk the recruiting weekend that was from a football and basketball standpoint. Get ready. Grab your ice coffee. Grab your boat. Os bagel because we have a lot to cover.
Judah Wiccarrer Studio camera. Judah Wiccarrer. Two shot. Judah Wiccarrer. The star of our show. Jerry. Who do you Rackliff? The name sake of Jerry Rackliff.com. It's Tuesday morning, my friend. And we start with a scatter shooting with the Virginia sports hall of favor. Well, I did it on everything you just said. It was they kind of asked for a better opener and a result. And I think the NC State coaching staff was shocked that Virginia beat them, dominated them so easily. And because every time that NC State made an adjustment, Virginia had an answer for it. And I think I think they knew that Virginia had a good off in the line, but I don't think that I think they were stunned that they were controlled like that by Virginia's big guys. And Dave Doran told our
Scott Germany said the rest of the ACC is going to find out that speaks volumes because Doran has been around for a while now. I think he's maybe the oldest ACC football coach. I think can think of somebody else, but it's either him or dabbo, I guess. So I guess dabbo has probably been around a little bit longer than Doran, but those words coming out of his mouth, I think speaks volume. Vanessa Parkhill's watching the show. Why don't we put Vanessa Parkhill's photo on screen. She's the queen of earlysville. She said Saturday was a fun day at Scott Stadium. Who's gave the whole crowd something to cheer for and Bo previous showed up big time. And then she adds no way CJ Bailey is winning a Heisman after that performance. Let's go to mineral for
Virginia. I would say she's right. I think she's 100% right CJ CJ Bailey now to to Bailey's credit here. The man was facing a defense that was Brinks solid security type. And and and but Bailey missed some guys too. Yeah, you know part of that was the defense and part of it, I think he doesn't have the tools he had last year. He has to or the personnel to work with that Duke Scott is a mere shadow of Hollywood's mothers and they lost two really good receivers to Alabama and somebody else some other big time school and they just they to have him replace them with the same kind of talent. So he didn't have the weapons that he had surrounding him last year. And he's still up to watching the program Olivia branch watching the program James Madison and mineral wants to know what happened with with is it McKillin Thomas. He was what was the injured didn't see him in the second half and he also wants to know about that patent Ellis Tony Elliott
confrontation toward the end of the game if we have any insight on that. Nothing was said about Thomas after the game so we don't know exactly what it was if he was injured or or what. So what we're not going to find that out for another week probably because there's no press conference this week since there's no game this week. And they don't put out information like that except during game week so Elliott was on Lewis I think it was after a special teams play didn't just saw a little bit of that on TV in the replay. He was getting barked at pretty pretty heavily by coach E and I assume he either wasn't hustling or made an error on his execution or whatever play that was
but Tony Elliott doesn't matter if you're a starter or all American or a red shirt if you mess up he's going to yell at you and that's to me that sounds of a good football coach. So I think that's the only way to get the comments continue to come in for for Jerry Rackliffe and who do I absolutely concur with you. This comment comes in in Olivia we're going to get to your comment here in a matter of moments. This is a great comment this is from Buckhead Georgia can Jerry Rackliffe put in perspective the dominance of this opener to previous seasons is this as dominant is this football team has looked in any season opener against team of merit. I would say so going back to the days of George Welsh. Yeah and I would have to go back and look at those seasons independently to make that kind of comparison but I can't think of any against a team of note that was that dominant since then I just don't don't think there has been.
And George George had some teams that had some pretty impressive opening wins against some decent teams but I can't think of any since then that was that dominant against a really good football team so yeah most dominant I would say in at least 30 years. Olivia Branch watch in the program she says she's been waiting all weekend for the Jerry and Jerry show since the game she's been waiting literally since the end of the game for this show we appreciate you Olivia Branch the queen of Keswick do we start with the sort of she's amazing can we can we start with with both Pribula where do you want to go on bow. You know if if you've read my content for the past since training camp open and if you've listened to this show then Saturday certainly was a little bit of a surprise but you shouldn't have been too surprised because we told you exactly what Virginia had to do to win what Virginia strengths were what their weaknesses were.
So if you've been reading our content you've known that this was coming maybe not to this degree but that Virginia was going to win that opening game and how it was going to win that opening game and so Pribula was just part of it we said for quite a while now that we think he's underrated. I think he showed people what a great runner it according or a great running quarterback he has said he's faster than a hiccup and he he's not shy about running the football he had relishes running the football and I don't know the Tony Elliott wants to run in 15 times the game although I think I think that he could without you know. He's just a tough running quarterback and we've seen a lot of that from various programs over the years where a quarterback can can make that many carries or more and and get through an entire season knock on wood so.
I think you know they didn't need to throw the ball that much but when they did they met account the greatest example of that and the greatest example of what a great game I thought that's kitchen is called as a Virginia just dominated the first half running the football what they put it in the air how many times in the first half maybe three times. I don't have my halftime stat I'll take a look I'll find that it wasn't very many and so you know Virginia's had 17 and nothing and halftime after just blowing their doors off controlling the Lana scrammage and so if you're desk kitchen you're saying okay NC State's going to come out and the second half running the game. In the second half and adjust for the run they're going to load up the box they're going to try to shut down our running game so we can't dominate like we did so what does he do first three plays of the second half passes flea flicker then another pass then the flea flicker went 20 yards then another pass rate yards and then on second two what is
the previous day he drops back and he finds martin wide open deep hits him on the fly for 47 yard touchdown three passes in a row whatever NC State came out expecting didn't matter and he went to 24 to nothing just like that and the game was essentially over really at that point and so the four-pribute was 9 of 11 unbelievable 14 yard average 96 QBR yeah I mean combines for 200 and what 66 total yards I mean 265 total yards got I mean this is as perfect in a game as you can play. Yeah I mean I don't know what else you could expect from a guy really he was he was everything that you would expect him to be in more I think and I think it's a really good sign that he's got a grip on this offense and this teammates
respecting and will fight for him and what a beautiful day if you're a cavalier for me it was it was it was perfect it was it was a perfect opener for Virginia football and it's proud so I was going to actually about a sell out it was a recruiting weekend it was a sell out it wasn't full right right but I guess all the tickets were sold huge recruiting weekend they had like a hundred or more prospects there from all over the place and they offered a lot of those players after I guess after the game or that day or that night Twitter has been lit up with players who enjoyed their visit and they had to have like what they saw like you said great whether big crowd enthusiastic crowd dominating performance I don't know what else the prospect would be looking for and that one quarterback that there after the freshman from
Indian River my goodness they offered him after the game that kid is dynamite he threw for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns as a high school freshman last season my goodness I don't know what a stud ever seen a number like that before unbelievable unbelievable comments are coming in faster than I can keep up here there is some concern from the fan base about Pribula and and running the football and taking hits and health and longevity he all out a little color was injured last season as the quarterback Missouri had the Tigers in the hunt right atop the SEC banged up I believe it was an ankle last year never return to form he is to I love both Pribula I have seen him play really not much football he looks for contact he is physical he's got the he's got a there's said he runs angry he runs angry and he and they also said that he wakes up after taking the first hit
that's when the juices start flowing and when he starts playing can this guy go a 12 game season and then a bowl game and knock on wood maybe a playoff birth with these kind of hits well he can doesn't mean that he will doesn't mean that he won't but he can I mean he's to look at option offense quarterbacks army navy Air Force some of the other programs found the country they run the ball more than Pribula did Saturday and a lot of those guys go the entire season unscathed they are accustomed to it they know how to take a hit they know how to fall it's all luck with anybody that runs the football because you know any given time you can you can get hit the wrong way or fall the wrong way somebody falls on you and there's really not much you can do about that could happen if you run it twice a game or 20 times a game so the beauty of it is this year they have a really good backup quarterback and he lie hosting he's played power and one at power for football and you don't want to see anybody get hurt
but if that would happen then they've got other guys to rely on but don't expect him to change the way he plays football because he wants to run the football and he's good at it and when he does Virginia is a better football team Amen brother Lawrence Johnson watching the program he gives you props for going on a show he says good morning LJ is great guy LJ in the Todd water he's watching the program right now comments continue to come in this show live on 27 social media and podcasting platforms literally at once where we encourage you the viewer and listener to chime in on the discussion should we talk a guy who comes back from entry a guy who makes pay dirt the books a trip to pay dirt a guy who wears number zero a guy who showed up in the past the game the running game and is a feel good story yeah I mean that that is a feel good story if there ever was one he's a great kid Xavier Brown went down and I guess it was the Washington state game last year with the ACL
and talked to him during training camp and he talked about the dark days of that injury the first few weeks he was lost he didn't see any progress being made he was heavily depressed thought maybe his career was over he was in a bad place and his teammates kind of held him up and Tony Elliott spent a lot of time with him one on one just trying to build his positivity shared a lot of biblical messages with him I believe they both men of strong faith and got to Xavier and things started getting better in the rehab and he blossomed
and I guess even in early training camp he wasn't sure what his leg would be like they put a brace on it for practice I didn't notice if he was wearing one in the game the other day or not it's his choice and the once he started taking some contact in camp he started feeling just like his old self and to me it looks like he hasn't lost any speed I mean it was they blew my mind he was quickest he was some quick hit quick hitters and I mean he zoomed through those holes and the defense he was right past the end of the secondary in no time and so to me he looks like he hadn't skipped a beat and you got to be so happy for him he scored a couple of touchdowns and had a great opening game
if you love football you have to love what the history and what he survived it was amazing it was so feel good and and and let's talk about the running game the previous got 15 carries middle Brooks got 15 carries browns got eight carries no avans got six carries Z Davis got seven carries paint Lewis got six carries I mean you got one two three four five six dudes run in the football six dudes they have more tail back talent than they know what to do with well the great thing is to that they're using there's been times where they've had maybe not quite as many players and maybe not quite as much experience and they had a bell call and they would just you know the other guys wouldn't see much action so the fact that they're using them all is pretty good there were times where they'd have two of them in the backfield same time et cetera
and you know it's hard to keep that many running backs happy it really is especially when you have a running quarterback but and I don't know that that will be the case as some of the games get tougher that they'll and closer that they'll be able to use five running backs in the same game but I think in a lot of games they will be able to and they they're not shy about it they they want to give these guys the ball because they're all good they can all produce who's the best running who's the best runner of the football on this team not named Bo? Well I think it comes down from what we've seen now that may change as we season progresses but from what we've seen right now I think it's brown and millbrook we knew millbrook was going to be probably starter and probably get the most carries most likely
he reminds them a lot of Jamari Taylor and he does I'm not sure he's quite as fast as Jamari was when he gets in the open field but I don't think anybody expected to get this out of Xavier Brown this early I think a lot of people thought well maybe he'll work his way back in to a little playing time and be effective down the road he was hot right out of the box so I think right now it's those two comments continue to come in put them in the feed I'll relay them live on air this is an interesting comment on the tail back crew when it comes down to crunch time who's getting the ball with this football team? I think it's one of those two bags or are probably a regular right it depends on the circumstance and the yardage and all that stuff but they're not afraid to run the quarterback under any of those circumstances
but if it's not bow it I think it would be one of those two guys because they both prove they can run inside or outside particularly Brown he has the speed to get out around the edge middle brook I think it may be a little bit better between the tackles but one of those three Jeremy who watching the program Jeremy Ronica who is one of the most significant passionate loyal and die hard UVA fans I know it's only one game fellace but I cannot recall a UVA defense that shut down a team the way the who's did to NC state on Saturday is this something we can expect we can and we out is the defense just that good? I think it is John Ruzinski is really impressed me from the first season he was here even though he didn't have much to work with
but the last last year and then carried over to this year once he gets the talent he knows what to do with it I mean if you look at what he did when he was the defensive coordinator at Air Force he had so his defenses led the nation or ranked high in the nation and numerous categories and he was doing it with less now he's got more and he is really doing it they smothered that secondary might be the best secondary Virginia's had I'd have to go back and look way back NC state receivers couldn't get open they were smothered all day long and that's one of the reasons Bailey had so much problems when he did get somebody open he was being pursued by the past rush and on the run and throwing into tight windows and under threw it over through a lot
they were running game did nothing because that front seven is just tough and they just kept rotating in the front seven is missing their best player yeah and they kept rotating player player after player after player they were fresh the whole game long and like you said camera Robinson wasn't even in the game although I think they did find another dog I wrote about that the late yesterday and Brandon Hillman the safety that transferred information oh my gosh dude he is game record number two so now when cam comes back you're gonna have two game records in the game at the same time and that not many defenses have that I mean Hillman had had a pick was all over the field physical lateral quick punch the ball out forced a fumble CJ Bailey's hands yeah he was all he was silo on the silo on making tackles chasing people
you see why Michigan wanted him they expected him to be one of the big time contributors to their defense maybe a team captain this year and they were highly disappointed when he left the program ACC defensive back of the week yeah I wouldn't even close I knew soon as soon as the game was over he would be the ACC defensive back of the week there was no question about that guys the start I mean and guys you know say what we want about the NIL I'm still lukewarm on the NIL and good God lane kiffin is going to single handedly change college footballs we know it with what he's doing with these pro guys to college although I don't know if you saw it apparently Clemson said last night did if they play any professional players in Saturday's game the Clemson will not play the game I did not see that well I would imagine
well I would imagine we had a judge in Louisiana that said the southeastern conference cannot prevent LSU from basically enrolling and playing and rostering pro players yeah and the SEC came back and said that they would consider boycaving LSU right and boycaving them out of the conference I'm curious to see how that plays out I am to I'll be I don't think the LSU is going to challenge that if you do you're insane he kiffins now on the record saying that his current roster is all four pursuing NFL players and they're trying to fight a war in the new cycle now you know say what we want about NIL and say what we want about these extra years of eligibility but let's look at the Virginia offensive line what six years and seventh years and an eighth year I don't think there's an eighth year six to seven years yeah on the offensive line yeah we got a roster that is as deep as we've ever seen
we're we're too deep I mean he we got two starting quarterbacks right with two quarterbacks that are legitimately power conference starters on the on the team right now yeah we have a running back we have a kid named Peyton Lewis in the in the running in the in the tail back in the in the running back room that is may not be able to get off the bench and he played for Tennessee last year and he might not be able to get off the bench I mean look at the defense the best player on defense is I'm still going to say came Robinson but this safety from Michigan is an animal like really is this this and sparks the punner is what a fifth year or six year he's seven to year yeah I mean goodness gracious like say what we want about what's going on but this football team is is is is is physical their elder statesmen their far from underclassmen their well paid their too deep and I mean jeez the we some people in the fan base are saying why can't this football team go ten and two or 11 and one they could the Vegas odds makers all throw this to you Danny on Twitter guy we follow on Twitter he posted the Vegas
odds hoody for the football for the rest of the schedule I'm going to go ahead and call this up that way I'm not misspeak in here Virginia is favorite to win nine of its next 11 games the only games right now were Virginia is an underdog is the Florida state matchup and this is in Tallahassee right get three points for playing at home in Florida states a one and a half point favorite and then SMU and Dallas only a four and a half point favorite SMU and I don't SMU hadn't opened up yet I don't think but Florida state from what I heard didn't look that great in their opening game did not look great I didn't see any of that but I said that Virginia wins the NC State game and they did more than win it there was a really good chance they could go to the Tallahassee 4 and 0 and if you go in there 4 and 0 and you're playing well and they're maybe not look look at Florida state schedule I'll call it up right leading up to Virginia game if Florida states really he's can then Virginia could
roster splinters roll in there coach can demoralization in Tallahassee we've seen it in the last couple years yeah I mean he's already on the hot seat and if they get out to a shaky start it's going to be interesting to see what happens at Doku al-Khrstady 34 17 Florida state beat new Mexico state at home Florida state did not look dominant and that what it gets new Mexico state hoody's point the schedule SMU on September 7th right that's a home game then they travel to Alabama right a 3 30 naturally televised game on the 19th that's after a buy week so at least they have a buy before they play the tide central Arkansas at home host UVA at Louisville at Miami host Clemson cheese that's murderous row yeah but the fact that they play SMU in Alabama backed back on paper you figure they lose both should should on paper SMU's ranked Florida states not granted its
all of my going to be looking for revenge over losing to them last year right yeah they they they get crushed two games in a row who knows what kind of scenario Virginia walk into down there Philip Dow watch in the program mayor Scottsville Virginia he says who's favorite in the Virginia Tech game Philip the hoquies are two are two and a half point underdogs that's change so they were favorite yep that has changed UVA is a two and a half point favorite at Virginia Tech you get three points for playing at home so that just shows you the odds makers saw how dominant UVA was against the wolf pack cliff daisy watch in the program goes by Ray yeah Ray Ray came to the Saturday's game and met his lovely family outside the press box and I'm gonna he gave me an open invitation to come down in the
vicinity on the on the shore which I plan to do that's awesome that's awesome he he says good morning good morning gentlemen what a game I was so impressed with both sides of the ball the defense defense really did well my whole family had fun in such a great win I very much enjoyed seeing Jerry Racklift before the game let's keep these wins rollin boys well they should I mean I again I keep hearing mixed reports about West Virginia but I would think Virginia would be favored in that match up down in Charlotte on a neutral field I'm shocked at the lines 12 and a half yeah well I I am in a way but then the more I read about was for Virginia they're pretty low and in the big 12 and so maybe things aren't quite as peachy over in Morgan town as we previously thought
comments continue to come in here can you boys talk about the wide receivers what's going on with the wide receiving core well nothing surprising there I mean they they don't have they didn't have any guys coming back from last year who had been proven receivers Cameron Courtney is the starter in slot and he just hasn't put up any numbers and that's been a very productive spot for Virginia ever last few years with Washington and trail Harris he's now Oklahoma they don't have anybody in that spot right now who can give them that kind of production if they at least if they do they haven't shown it yet Rico Florey's supposed to start at at the X and he was Andrew or whatever and couldn't play he was on the
injury list Ty Coleman made a couple of nice catches kid from Dan River high school down in Danville the Sean Martin had that really nice catch of the touchdown pass 47 yards he's a transfer from Kent State to Conquips and to Juan Gibson from UMass had a couple of catches but other than that those guys they just haven't broken out yet and that that was something that we felt like was if there was a and I won't call it a weakness but if there is a deficiency on this team right now that's that's it would be the wild receiver room they just haven't stepped up and delivered and that they're hoping that will change as the season progresses because there's so many people involved 17 wild receivers to choose from they're hoping that two or three of
these guys are going to step up and separate themselves and be playmakers and that's going to be huge because they're not going to be run the ball like that against everybody that they play and you know with the wide receiving core we don't the fan base doesn't even need this wide receiving core and and bow to throw 25 times third times a game no you don't just need to keep them honest right they just need the threat of play action and the threat of a deep ball and the threat of a slant yeah a threat of a hook just to keep the the safeties and the backers slightly on their heels yeah or considering pass yeah exactly if you keep pounding and pounding and pounding away again it's like those first three passes of the second half they're going to cheat up and you're they're going to leave themselves vulnerable and both previews good enough to take advantage of that because he's a veteran guy he can spot
who's lined up for you and anticipate who's going to be open and if he gets that kind of coverage he's going to burn you Chad Woodwatch the program Chad Wood is a diehard Virginia fan yes he is played high school football for Steve Isaacs in the single wing attack and Crozea Virginia he's now Western Amaro assistant football coach he says gentlemen Virginia has grown men up front if that continues them grown boys up front look out college football playoffs on the horizon yeah there's a lot of the fan pay saying CFP well I I wouldn't I wouldn't rush it but certainly they're going to have a chance you go into Tallahassee and win and become five and O he they may be ranked before they get to Tallahassee but certainly they would be after that and you know if you get ranked it's just a matter
of time if you keep winning that that you'll move up in the rankings and it's you know we saw what happened last year they got up to was it 12th or 13th in the CFP rankings those are the only rankings that really matter but it's certainly a possibility I just wouldn't put my card before the horse quiet we should talk about the the play calling of dad's kitchens because for the first three years the offensive coordinator was literally like almost hung in effigy you know people were calling for dad's and his job at a you know more aggressive clip than Tony Elliott yeah and goodness gracious dad's kitchens last year and now the first game of the season it's it's it's night and day and it reminds me of what John Schumann told me one time
said all coaches coach the same when they don't have players to coach that's pretty much it he was kind of the scapegoat the whole was going wrong but they didn't have that much talent how gross said your record you are who you are the numbers don't lie it might be a little deceiving in some cases but generally they're pretty accurate and they just didn't have a lot of talent and uh bronco fought that and Mike London fought that and and grow fought that uh at and to his career here but uh if you don't have the talent and you don't have the the stuff to track talent then you're behind the eight ball and there's no mercy in in football you get behind and people are
going to bury you um i've said many times one of my good friends was used to be the defensive coordinator at Louisville and he's been everywhere he's been up Florida he's been with the Dallas Cowboys he knows football and uh i asked him one year i said what about what do you think what do you really think about Virginia's roster and he said he said Jerry they they have some really good football players but they just don't have enough and he said once once you get beyond the starters there's there's just nothing there and that's no longer the case uh the money that flowed in yet last year and continues to flow has completely changed everything about Virginia football this is not your fathers or your grandfather's or your great-grandfathers of Virginia football team this is a new era and these guys have made really good choices for the most part and bringing in
players from the portal and they've got depth everywhere there there's depth everywhere and that has helped them tremendously um Annabelle Vaughn the longtime s idea wake forest she really knows her football she grew up with Clemson Gal and uh i was talking to her at halftime the other day she said you guys have a really good football team and i said well yeah you're right and they should because they have spent a lot of money a lot of money and they've brought in a lot of really good players and uh Elliott Rugginski kitchens will all tell you it's all about quality playable depth and they have it everywhere unbelieble everywhere um the the fan base all over the feed is talking about
um you know an ACC title run they're talking about a college football berth um i'm like kudy i understand fan excitement and engagement um i'd like to see the team you know walk into that matchup against florida state undefeated i'm curious of the florida of the uh west virginia matchup i'm most nervous on the schedule of smu and to say that i'm not concerned about virginia tech is is a lie because of history um and and and the games in blackspurt well wait we also know that virginia's history unfortunately has been to lose a game somewhere along the way that they're not supposed to lose right and if you looked at saturday nor calina is not as bad as they were last year and they gave virginia well the virginia won uh you know in overtime in chaploh hill
so i thought you i watched the game i don't think nor calina is a give me no i watch the u.n.c. tc. you game that was in irland u.n.c. played good football yeah tc. you's a good football team they they happen yeah and u.n.c. figured out a way to win that ball game and bill belichek when that game when when the final whistle blew and it was clear that u.n.c. was going to win he did a pump of his fists and that fist pump that arm pump from belichek uh emotion from belichek really spoke to what he's gone through in chaploh hill with his son his general manager the attention on his girlfriend the struggles last year and and and i i could tell that he was extremely proud to get that win coach belichek oh yeah and i agree with what you said about u.n.c. comments continue to come in this from mark brown funny how good the coaches are when they have talent it's not the excess or the o's it's about the jimmies and the joes and i absolutely absolutely love our secondary that's from mark brown chat said i watched some of the film and that line was
moving the north carolina state lineman at will u.v.a.s offensive line he says hoody any idea why the west virginia tickets are so outrageous being that it's in an NFL stadium and likely won't fill hat we won't fill half of it it was ought to me when looking at ticket prices he's thinking about a trip does it charlotte there uh i i don't know i think it's it's uh i guess it's a game that they stage every year is that it's connected to duke mayonnaise as a duke mayo classic or something like that uh i i assume they had it before where they bring in two teams and play on the neutral field and when they do that the the price tag goes up um that's the only explanation i can think of i think it's somebody said seventy dollars for a ticket out i don't know if that's accurate or not but uh everything's so expensive i've heard of virginia's going to get a pretty nice payday out of
out of that game and i'm sure west virginia will also but um unfortunately that's just the world we live in these days and um when they what chance to gouges the fans they gouges and that's just where we are yeah it's it's everything is everything's my my buddy was looking at playing my out of town buddy who's a virginia grad and wants to is bringing his son for one of the november football games he's a big golfer so as his son is someplace high school on his high school golf team they wanted to play bird wood uh on the weekend non-members at bird wood i'm what you think it is for a round with a card i'm guessing a hundred forty hundred fifty dollars one hundred eighty five dollars that's even more than i thought yeah non-member bird wood fantastic course beautiful course yes no question heaven over there hundred eighty five bucks yeah on the week it's a lot of money for a father coming down from canadakit with his high school age son to watch some football and
to kill some time before the football game yeah that's a lot of no question yeah so i think what he's instag going to play is uh i'm drawn a blank on the uh the muni pen park metacree metacree yes which another great course that's but it's not better than the used to be yeah for them he's going to play malkreet uh but to your point nothing's cheap well they even metacree's not cheap anymore really what's what's uh back of the napkin on that uh i played nine holes out there recently and it was forty dollars yeah i think nine holes was that course a good shame yeah it was yeah let's go this golf yeah it's golf right uh comments continue to come in for you hoody rack left the fan base is fired up i can see right here um this is an interesting good we're glad that they're fired i agree and we want you the further fire up the fire base if you can't get fired up over this i have to check your polls a man brother for
the fired up fan base subscribe to jerry rack left dot comets eight dollars a month it's the price of a cup of coffee and you get forty to fifty stories per thirty day period they're Wahoo fans and then they're Wahoo fans that subscribe to jerry rack left dot dot com that are getting fifty stories a month this from youtube from four three four uh d three v after after week one do you expect the team to be ranked even coming off a biweek uh panseh what happens yeah i think uh i think they moved up uh in some i can't remember what it was but i know they moved up to twenty six and on somebody's list after the win immediately after the win Saturday i um i don't know if they'll break into the top twenty five because there just wasn't many games and usually you know uh nc state wasn't ranked either so um um uh there'll definitely be
and others receiving votes and probably pretty high in that i i don't know if they'll crack into the top twenty five or not um we'll have to wait and see but uh it would be a significant jump if they did but uh you know i i wouldn't be shocked if they were like twenty fourth or twenty fifth not there really means anything but um i think for those out there watching who really know college football would have to appreciate what they did this past weekend it wasn't just an ordinary win it was a dominating win it was a dominating win and and to hoody's point i mean the real ranking is the as the CFB and to and to and to hoody's point let's see what happens with this ball club uh you know after that floristate matchup yeah that's gonna be uh that's gonna
be a really huge game if uh for virginia now again if floristate gets hammered by usm u and alabama then it's gonna lose some of its luster but it'll still be hard to go into tally asking and win because it's just uh there's this aura about going into dope Campbell i think i think only one virginia team has ever done gone into tally asking and one and that was one of my condense teams and i still remember dug dally and uh setting in the press box in the third quarter or fourth quarter looking at each other and saying do you believe this because what's supposed to happen james manisan watching the program he's in mineral he's responding to chad wood who's watching in croixay james manisan in mineral virginia says chad my tickets were two hundred and fifty dollars each wow for charlotte was from jenia wow sixty five dollars for parking wow so james manisan who
has not missed a home football game he and his wife for forty eight years yeah that blew me away when i heard the i still i'm thinking about this james and his wife have gone to every home football at uva for forty eight straight years we said nineteen seventy nine right unbelievable yeah that's incredible he's making the trip to charlotte i would imagine it's with his wife because he says two tickets were two fifty each plus sixty five for parking dropping a five hundred sixty five bucks just on tickets in park not gas not wear and tear not food not anything else and and and i live your branch making a plug for charlotte it's not cheap either when you talk about the downtown hotel yeah liby is making a plug for kesswick country club she said kesswick joined kesswick and the golf is included kesswick and that's beautiful beautiful golf course
kesswick hall is a beautiful course well you make chazney the the mayor of mack entire is is is watching that program those those hats that you gave hoody and i uh Olivia i wear mine all the time i do too i want to let you know it was absolutely fantastic so thank you again for those hats um lj uh it was sound assignment football no one on defense was out of place wesley uh you might know this lj right he knows his football um wesley is watching the program you might have to help me with his last name is it kinsh cilio kinsh cilio watching the program hoody get the v s g a golf card i've i've had that in the past i haven't i haven't renewed this year yet because my i haven't played as much golf lightly but uh i've i've had that for a number of years yeah play all over the state yeah this guy's uh you know what's at one time a pretty rabbit golfer right pretty often golf yeah i used to play
this guy keeps it in the short grass and goes low what have he rounds would you do a year back uh when i was playing a lot um god i would play uh somewhere between 800 and a thousand holes a year or whatever that turns out to be in rounds i i don't know but it was a lot there's a lot that's a lot probably more than i should have uh didn't you tell a story in the show one time you wanted to get out the late great george wash on the golf course to show them the grip in the swing right i tried i tried to get george to play golf and uh he he got he got so frustrated with it he said i i can't get the wall off of ground and uh he just kept hitting warm burners down the snake killers down the driving range but uh he uh busiest hard uh i think that maybe the last time i was saw him uh i ran into him he was reading newspapers and drinking coffee and i asked him what what he was
up to and uh i said i hear you come over here and read the papers every morning he says what else do i have to do he said i should have taken up your offer to learn how to play golf a long time ago and uh bless you hard what a great human being he was i love george was um funny story about that uh jim duce de bella who we lost this summer great writer from the Norfolk paper um one year was put on the Virginia beat and he came he he came to interview george and was a little intimidated because he had heard that george you know he's watching he's looking at his watch making sure that you don't go over your time limit with him and george could be a little abrupt uh especially if he didn't know you and so uh doos nervously goes into his office and george goes out to get a cup of coffee and comes back in and
and doos goes trying to find a way to break the ice and he sees a putter over behind george's desk and doos was a golfer wrote some golf books great great uh got to play golf with and so he looks at george and he says oh i see you have a putter back there george and uh the george looked at him he says i hate golf so that was the end of that that does not surprise me um comments jermy to Chad would he's gonna go to uh charlotte jermy the day of and he'll buy tickets uh the day of as well with the hope to get them at a cheaper price point might be able to find something cheaper yeah and uh jermy i think you scored uh uh tickets to was it the NC state game from the will call crew i believe uh uh hoody rackliffe um any other what we got to talk basketball how about the the top
100 shooting guard that was an attendance that we read about on jerry rackliffe uh he's an up in camera i think uh glass of 28 i believe um they offered him while he was here uh he had just gone on unofficial visit the NC state the week before and uh was offered before he left rolly uh so same thing at virginia and i think he's going to Kansas state in a couple of weeks uh but his uh he's got a lot of offers in in that list it's gonna grow uh virginia is in the mix with a lot of high school kids uh they obviously didn't sign but uh one high school kid and last year and the year before so um they're in the mix for more so i don't know how that's gonna go but they're certainly looking at a lot of four stars and maybe even a five star and
some of the people live visited here or planned a visit here what's in the hopper we got a buy week and man you're producing some prolific and analytical content hoots well it's a buy week but uh we still are gonna be writing uh looking back at some of the uh things that happened over the weekend uh i'm gonna be writing about uh Tony Ellis decision not to play cam Robinson uh i'll be writing a story about the drive looking back at the drive longs drive in school history uh that had to be incredibly frustrating to NC state um virginia kept the fall for 23 plays over 12 minutes cj Bailey who was already ineffective was on sidelines and couldn't get into the game um some other stuff uh just about virginia football uh norfolk state opened up their season i think
beat Winston Salem state uh which equals their win total from all of last year uh so we'll maybe look at that a little bit and um some other stuff uh there's another uh high profile basketball recruit who uh as narrate his list to eight and virginia's on it so we'll be uh keeping tabs on everything while who football basketball wise and uh and keeping up with the Olympic sports as well if you uh if you like the show please help us spread the word hammer that like button subscribe to it and please eight dollars a month at jerryracklif.com the price of a cup of coffee 40 to 50 pieces of content per 30 day period you cannot get that coverage anywhere else folks it's eight bucks a month jerryracklif.com become a subscriber he's a virginia sports hall of famer he's a household name he is on the grind covering content covering the teams and
