This is live morning Z10 on ESPN, New York and streaming live on YouTube. Let's get going. Let's not waste any time. It's the big. The big three story lines of the day. Number one, the era giants have an opportunity this weekend at something special. It's not until Monday night. I understand this, but they have an opportunity when I say something special.
It's to kind of announce their presence with authority. So to speak, I think this is an incredibly difficult spot for the giants on Monday night. But when I get ready for this game, the thing that I keep coming back to is that you have not a Jackson Dart game here. You have a secondary game and you have a pass rush game. And for me, that makes all the difference in the world because the pass rush for the giants is supposed to be the strength of this team. And that is why I think the giants have a chance to win this game Monday night against the Rams. Number one, it's never a home game for the Rams. They have zero home field advantage. It might even be a home game for the giants. If there are enough giant fans who make the trip or the giant fans who are, you know, the New York people who are transplanted out in LA, that's number one. Number two, the Rams, as much as they really did not look good.
And we all want to point to the travel and the silly way that they handled it. There is something to be said for the fact that when we build these super teams, they tend to get old pretty quickly. And that thought process of the super team is never built around young players. The Rams are not built around young players. I believe they're the fourth oldest team in the league right now. And that's led by the quarterback. And so when I talk about the pass rush, this is supposed to be the number one aspect of the giants. I have heard about it for years about Tibido, about Brian Burns, about Abdul Carter, and two of those three have been, you know, solid. I would say Carter, you know, off of last year certainly had worked to do, but led the league in quarterback hurries, I believe the stat was last season. So it's clear that he can get to the quarterback.
When you have a quarterback like Matthew Stafford, and you can have a season like he did last year, go out and you throw what 42 touchdown passes, whatever the number was. And you win the MVP. Everybody believes that you're going to play forever. They start to think about Tom Brady. They start to think about the fact that you are 38 years old and still playing at a remarkable level. But if we're being truthful, it's not just that it's an arbitrary age, but it is an age where things tend to turn relatively quickly. Remember how much we used to try to sell ourselves on the fact that Aaron Rogers was, well, only a year removed from winning the MVP.
Remember what the year after winning the MVP looked like for Aaron Rogers his last year in Green Bay? It wasn't great. It wasn't great at all. And that was his age 38 season. So it's only it's not saying that it's definitively going to happen for Stafford, but it could. It could. And if the giant pass rush can make somebody who's a little bit on the older side, feel a little bit shaken. And the Rams offensive line is is good, but it's not out of this world. That can be a massive difference maker in this game. And a great pass rush, especially one that does a lot of damage just in terms of hits, makes any quarterback think. And the giant's beat Tom Brady by getting in his face twice and Super Bulls in his prime by getting in his face twice twice.
They can do that to Matthew Stafford with what they have to work with. The problem is the secondary. If he's not the best receiver in football, he's top three. He's right up there. So whatever you want to think about him outside of, you know, the off the field stupidity that he's pulled, he's still a top flight playmaking receiver that you have to be concerned about. And that is going to cause you problems. So for me, this is more about the giant secondary. This is more about are they capable of covering and doing enough damage that way? And making life hard enough for the Rams. It has to be about making everything. Everything is difficult as possible. I look at that last week and the Cowboys were still able to move the football, but they weren't able to cash in nearly enough.
Right? I think the giant defense is much improved. But is it improved enough in the secondary where you can handle Pukin, Nukuah and Devante Adams? You can talk about lamb and pickings last week. This is another challenge. And this is the guy who's coming off the MVP. But I'm just going to point out that you can look at an older guy and understand that you can even rattle him if you have a pass rush like the giant. You can even rattle him off a 42 touchdown here. I'm sure that the whole thing about coming back home from Australia has absolutely nothing to do with this game. Absolutely nothing to do with this game. But I'm here to tell you that, you know, the giants can play well in this game.
I don't sense that they're going to get blown out. I really don't. I think they're going to lose the game, but I thought they were going to lose the game last week too. The Rams are going to be an annoyed group. But what does that actually mean? And then when we want to throw Aaron Donald into the mix, go ahead guys. That's fine. With Aaron Donald, go nuts. You want to get excited about that? You should. He's an all time great player, all time great player. He hasn't played the game in two years. He hasn't been on a competitive football field in two years. That does. Real damage and that damage, but that does real. Harm and anybody's ability to get ready and get back to play at a high level. Aaron Donald does not come off the sideline from two years and immediately play at a high level.
And immediately play every snap in a game. That's not what happens. That's not what happens. So everything is much as you might be considering that the Rams are going to win this game and they're going to win it handily. Be careful. I think they'll win. But I think the giants are inside the number. I'd be surprised if the giants didn't make this a competitive game. Next. Number two, the jets. Jets are going to win. And it's not because I'm a jet apologist or anything like that. This is a breeze hall game. The weather forecast looks like it sucks for Sunday. It really does not look good. And I have an awful lot of confidence in the jets ability right now on their offensive line to push some teams around the jets have been constructed. To have an offensive line and a defensive line that are more physical inside.
Now they beat up on a bad team last week. I'm not going to try to sell you on anything otherwise. But I will say that there is progress when it is beating up on a bad team and a 2310 win is not remotely indicative of how badly they beat up the Titans last week. The Titans are awful. We won't argue any of that. The jets are not an offensive jug or not. We won't argue any of that. But they have certain things working in their favor this week. Number one, it's obviously the fact that the Packers are without both Micah Parsons and Josh Jacobs. The jets run defense against Marcian Lloyd. I think will be enough. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Tavandre sweat who I think only played something like 17 or 18 snaps last week if I'm not mistaken. Is going to shut down the Packers run game altogether.
But the jets are much better against the run than they used to be. And I don't expect Marcian Lloyd to go off in a weather game that's going to be bad to begin with. Number two, the weather. The weather is going to suck. The Packers want to throw the ball all over the place. Jordan Love threw for over 300 yards. And the jets, I think, have a very, very solid secondary where Jordan Love's still going to do some damage. But I don't believe that in those kind of conditions, he's going to be able to chuck it all over the lot and throw up 35 points on the jets. Number three, it's just about breeze hall. You want to talk about it, Braille and Alan. We can certainly talk about Braille and Alan. It's about breeze hall. This is why you signed breeze hall to a contract. This is why you brought him back and you didn't just try to tag him and then make him play out a year and just go year to year with him.
You felt very confident in his abilities to go out and be a thousand yard, 1200 yard, productive back that will win you football games behind an offensive line that should be pretty good. I think the jets are going to win this game Sunday against the Packers. But let's just talk about the opportunity for a second. This is an opportunity to show that you're no longer a joke. Last week doesn't really announce your presence with authority. Again, that phrase from bull Durham. It doesn't. It shows, okay, we are good enough to not have a game against one of the worst teams in the league, be in question. Okay, that's a step. This week you have another step. The Packers are what I would say. Certainly right now without Parsons and without Jacobs are certainly flawed, but they're still a good football team.
And if the jets are capable of beating the Packers at home in a bad weather game, I think that goes a long way. If you can send the Packers to 0 and 2, I think that also goes a long way. The Packers gave up 39 points last week. Now granted, I understand that by no means are the jets a juggernaut offensively, but it was Carson Wins and he did a lot of it in the second half of the game. I mean, it was after it was well after Kyler Murray got hurt in the game. The Vikings are good. They're not a great team. They're just not. So while I don't expect the jets to blow the matter and anything like that, I think this is the opportunity for the jets to show. Hey, we're a good football team. We don't suck again. We have the chance to actually show that we don't suck last week. You showed okay against bad teams. We don't suck as bad as they do.
They suck in an elite level. We don't suck at that level anymore. Do we suck at any level? This is a week to show. No, we suck at no level. It's all about just the smaller steps and I believe Ray. I would. Right. Right. We have a baseball bat laying around. I don't believe we have that around. I almost. Almost and I swear to God like this was totally off the top of my head and by accident. I almost said I believe in the jets. I almost said that. I almost said it. And if we did have a bat, I would want you to come in here and hit me with it. You have my permission. I won't file charges or anything. It's a Friday. I don't even know where our HR department is. Like no problem. Okay. I got you. We'll take a trip to Dix after the show. I almost said that. I can't say that yet. Okay. But I can't say that I believe that they don't suck. I do believe that they don't suck. I believe they're good enough to win a game against a packers team.
It did not look great in week one and might be asking itself some questions as it's looking in the mirror and we're being truthful. Has a coach that's going to be on the hot seat here. They haven't won since early December. I mean it's six in a row now at this point. And it's all been since Parsons went down. We know how good he is and what a difference he makes. And out there this week. Here's the opportunity to go and show that you are a respectable organization again. But that'd be nice. See that would be a great feeling Monday. Ray looks a little annoyed with me right now for buying into this. Go ahead. It's okay. Go ahead. No, I was just questioning the use of again. Oh, that's fair. All right. I was referencing 2010. But yeah, that's fair. That is what is the statute of limitations on again? Is it 15 years? Is that I think so?
That's fair. Okay. Yeah. 15 years without the playoffs. You're right. I can't use again. They have a chance to be in a respectable organization and stop. But I don't even want to joke about them. I just was. I was in source of with what I saw last week. I was in love with what I saw last week. And I know who they were playing. And I know all these reasons why I shouldn't be. Here I am. Buying in like a sucker. But guess what? I'm ready to be heard again. So let's see if it happens. Number three is a very sneaky big day for the Yankees. And you might say, well, maybe not so sneaky. That kind of is when they go to Arizona later today. When we hear from Aaron Boone about Aaron judge, this is going to say everything. Now, I'll be truthful.
As I, I don't even know why I need to say that. I always am. I don't expect Aaron judge to be in the lineup tonight. I don't know that I expect them to play this weekend. If Aaron judge is in the lineup tonight, that actually says it all to me because the Yankees are not going to put him in any sort of a position where he could get hurt or hurt worse with the leg tightness or whatever it was that he had the other day. But the right leg tightness. I don't expect that any of that. If, if he is in the lineup, the Yankees are just truly saying we're not screwing around. Okay. They're saying he's fine. There's no problem here. There's nothing to look at. Keep going. I don't expect them to be in the lineup because you have to be extra cautious in these spots. You have to be. What really worries me is ramping up here. The next couple of weeks it's supposed to be here the next week really it's down to a week. It's what eight games left something like that. It's down to that. And it's it's about him being ready for the playoffs.
He's homer but he humbled on a curveball as Michael diligently pointed out on his show yesterday. He still does not seem like he's quite good. There still seems to tick off on what he's trying to do. There's no rehab games. There's none of that around this. This is I'm going to rehab in the big leagues. I'm going to treat this as a as a short and spring training. And I'm going to go out there and do everything I can to make a difference for us. If he can't play the tonight or this weekend. And as much as I still believe in their ability to win a couple of rounds and even get to the world series. Boy that that really bothers me. And the biggest way it's going to bother me. Is that let's just argue for a moment that judge does not play this weekend, but he plays next week. And let's say that he's still a little bit off, which I would expect him to be and has another three for 17 stretch.
Well, how can I sit there and expect the postseason to be any good when he's already had problems with the postseason last year. He came out of that, but I already have not even my excuse, but my reason built in for him. This this very moment right now with his injury is why the Yankees have it's really been a case of malpractice over the last several years in the way that they have not been able to get over the hump. Even in getting to the world series, it's I understand the level of malpractice. It's Yankee malpractice. Okay. It's not like regular baseball malpractice. I understand what I'm saying. It's if I went in and got cosmetic surgery. There is a little spec left in there of a freckle that I wanted removed that they couldn't get out of there, but it's barely noticeable and you can't take it out.
That's the level of Yankee malpractice that we're talking about, but it still shows that they have not taken advantage of the prime of Aaron judge. And now the prime of Aaron judge is starting to disappear on us because when you missed three months during this year after you've stayed healthy for the last few years and you're 34 years old. That doesn't get better with age. It doesn't get better with age. It gets worse or just as bad. It's going to be a problem. So to me, what happens later today at Aaron Boone's pregame press conference is as big as anything that the Yankees have had this season. Because if judge when the Yankee lineup comes out is in it, that to me says they have zero concerns about what's going on.
Because even him, if he is pleading his case to play, then they understand that he is pleading his case to play because he's still not 100% but he's trying to get back out there and they let him do that with the way he has handled this rehab to begin with. In not going down and playing some rehab games. It's no, I'll get ready in the big leagues and I'll deal with the consequences of it. And the Yankees over the last week of the season have really nothing to lose at this point. This is all locked into what they're going to be. They know they're going to be playing at home against the Red Sox and you can say, well, they they can rest him some, you know, they'll rest him here and there, but dude needs to be at bats and he knows that. And they know that if he does not play this weekend, be careful boy. They will downplay it. They will say it's precautionary. They will say all the right things. None of that means anything.
None of that means a damn thing. What that means to me is we got problems. We got problems. So here we are. It's a football Friday with a little Yankee Aaron judge situation dashed in at eight hundred nine one nine three seven seven six. Am I stupid for believing the jets can win this game this week? Am I stupid for believing the giants do have a chance against the Rams, even though I think they're going to lose the game but keep it within the number. This is an opportunity weekend in week two for the jets and giants. The giants already took advantage of what was in front of them last week in beating somebody that we all considered to be a good team, but this coming up, this really is a good team. And they may be oh and one, but they still have a lot of things going for them, even with Aaron Donald just returning now, even with Matthew Stafford at 38 years old, they still have a lot of different ways to beat you.
So if you can take advantage and show that you're a better team and maybe lose a tight game that says a lot to me about the giants and if you win this game is if you win this game. Not the case with the jets, but it is with the giants. If you win this game. Giant fans can start to use the P word. And start to say the word playoffs they can't and I know that's not the two and oh. But who's coming? Teams that are 4 and 0? They'll miss a playoffs now very often, unless you're the cults. And they were I don't even know if they were 4 and 0 last year. They were like eight and one. You get the point. $61 check it in, supposed to be a total of up to an inch on Sunday. So hoping not bad rain. I mean, an inch of rain is a decent amount of rain. That's a that's a pretty good amount of rain. Um, let's see here. What else we got? Uh, I'd rest judge and give him light work. The division is pretty much out of reach for the Yankees Primo Sabet. Listen, I get that Primo. Here's the problem with that. Judge doesn't have enough at bats right now. You don't need him coming to the plate in the postseason, still trying to get his timing down. So it's not like he has to play every inning of every game and here's the other thing. I mean, I can get him three at bats a game and get him a couple more like it is spring training. That's fine. If Judge can only D.H. Dude, who's playing? Who else is playing? Are C is probably not playing in a playing Garcia second base, right? You see as a butcher at second base from all accounts, I personally would rather do it
and see jazz back, but jazz is, you know, from a hell standpoint. Don't know about him. And rice first base sitting him down 38 home runs. I don't think so. I don't think so. No, and Piscataway starts us off on ESPN, New York. No, what's up, buddy? How are you? Hey, Chris. How are you, man? Oh, I do well. Yeah. Am I coming in clear? Oh, you're coming in clear enough. Okay, listen, a couple things and I want to make one quick point before I get to my jazz star. Do you look like rabbits, how is space and overall attitude and body language? Look at he was watching Zach Wilson and the guy who's been from last year. It was just, I felt so bad for him to have an incompetent playing quarterback again. I just said, wow. Well, let's put this away. I can't help it.
I'm going. It certainly looked good on you. Yeah, so listen. Yeah, so let me get to my jazz point. I really think Sunday is lining up for us pretty well. Little Josh checked up, right? He's a problem running abroad. He's not playing. Mike is not playing. And again, the offensive line of the jazz and the one true punch with Alan and Bruce, I think it's huge. The biggest thing we have to do is shut down this guy, Watson. He's a pretty good receiver and I think he's going to be a little further here, but again, and also we have to get pressure on love immediately. He can't get comfortable because he is good with supervision and throwing on the run. So we have to rally on his cage very quickly and get that done. No, Minka, that's okay. I think we have a suitable back up. But again, I think we win by seven.
I'll send you sloppy, but at the end of the day out there, if we can throw the clock and keep love off the field, we can really win this game. I think everything you say is accurate. I mean, those are. Those are our points that you lock in on and believe that that would be the case. You know, those are the kind of things that coaches would talk about leading into it. But it's easier said than done. You're hoping that the weather is going to help you. The one thing that I think is really interesting that I did not realize until I heard Dan mention it this morning. That last week, Mishon Wright did not play a snap on defense for the jets. Did not play a snap to it at five interceptions last season for the bears. Let the league if I'm not mistaken. Now, we have talked about how the bears interceptions and turnovers last year is somewhat of an aberration because when you get into the advanced analytics,
that is something that kind of tends to even out over time. And so when it ended up being such a massive positive for them, it really led to a lot of their success combined with the fact that they didn't play a tough schedule. But when Wright doesn't play a snap last week, that tells me a lot about what they think about AZ Thomas. They really must love AZ Thomas. And if he's playing at that level, all of a sudden, you know, the Juts trader away saw some not going to sit here and tell you that it's going to be a strength, but it may not be a weakness. It's going to kill you. Sooby in Midtown is next. Sooby, what's up, baby? Yeah, I wanted to expand on the judge conversation. I think the team is to blame like the front office. They didn't have them do the rehab assignment. Obviously, judge was feeling pressure and that's why you rush back. Well, I don't think it's to be hang on a second. I don't think it was judge was feeling pressure. I think judge was calling the shots when you're airing judge in that situation.
He's going to decide how he's going to go about doing this. Now, I don't even know if judge himself would have gone and played rehab game somewhere else. But in the middle of the year, but it would have been a lot more likely. Now this is no, I'm going to get ready and do this in the big leagues to try to help us. Well, this is going to be an issue going forward with judge as he gets older. Cashman is to blame if this monster this lineup is not constructed with a power bat. Because there was power bats out there. And then if the pitching struggles like cold, let's up home runs, then we know that cashman has to blame. Because he knows the flaws of these players and we deserve better as in Inky fans. That's it. So be I get what you're saying. I'd be curious as to this time. I'm going to bring you into this for a moment. I'd be curious as to the Yankee fan thought right here. Which are you more concerned about right now?
Judge and his ability to hit in the postseason and play frankly after what happened the other night. Or get a call in the way he has pitched late. Honestly, probably has to do more with the offense for me personally. Like, Cole, I am worried about generally because we need him in the postseason. However, I know that the Yankees pitching will be better off even if Garrett Cole isn't pitching well. I feel like they have enough pieces there to where they can still make something work. The offense is always what I've been scared of since Aaron Judge went down this year. And if Aaron Judges isn't there to produce, then one one, we have those Aaron Judge conversations again about how he's disappeared in the postseason. But two, who can we reliably go to and say there are number one guy on offense in the postseason? Well, that's the thing, Tom, is that over the last few weeks prior to the injury the other night with Judge,
prior really prior to him coming back, the offense had started to come back itself. The offense was not what it was during that 50 game stretch of just a wasteland at the plate. As bad as it could be. It was much better. It was rice who really kind of had always produced being just as good. It was Belinger coming back and producing when he returned. And then it was the rest of the lineup doing things. I'm going to be fair. You know me how much I criticized jazz chism. Chism was hitting. And then he gets hurt like it was a lot of the rest of those guys. Luis Garcia has been a great pick up for Brian Cashman, a great pick up. He has been phenomenal. If you could just hit left handers a little bit, it would be everything. So all of that considered.
I don't think that you can really worry as much about the offense as maybe you would have in the middle of the year. I, I, I, I've always been of the thought that the Yankee pitching was always what carried the day. They had clutch hitters in their prime 20 some years ago. The Yankee pitching was always what got it done when it mattered the most. It was anti-petit and Atlanta. It was so many great performances over the years of starters that gave them every opportunity. And it was having a no doubt back into the bullpen at least a ninth inning, generally the eighth inning as well with Rivera. That was always the biggest difference in the Yankee championship teams. What we've seen lately with the Yankees in the post season when they haven't been able to get over the hump is they haven't been able to hit nearly enough.
The pitching hasn't been as good as we would have hoped, but it's at a level right now. Or if you just give it a little bit of help. If you just score four runs a game. Yankees are going to be in the world series and even without judge. I believe in their ability to score four runs a game. Carlin, ESPN New York, ESPN New York YouTube channel 899-3776. That's, that's another good way to look at it. How you doing, man? What's going on? First of all, we didn't talk about it last week. I didn't get a chance to. You just showed me your eight-month-old. Yes. So what's going on? He's good. Odeal is good. The kid is eating everything now. Breakfast lunch and dinner. We're actually having sit-down meals, which is pretty cool. Not a picky eater, as you would imagine. Actually, he's a big man. He's 26 pounds and 31 inches. Wow. At eight months. So that's a- He's a candy. That's a hundred percent dollar and everything. He's a candy. So we're doing the sleep training now. All right, so we sleep training and tail. Basically, it's a fancy way of saying when the kid wakes up and the middle of the night and he's crying his face off, as long as he's not wet, you let him cry. Right. Yeah. So you're trying to teach him to self-soothe so he can fall back asleep. So you go in, you check, is he wet? No, then you walk out.
Yes. And you got to stand by the door or you got to listen to the cry. How you get the monitor down? We got the monitor. So we have one of the cribs with the monitor over top of it. So how difficult is it to sit there and listen to the kid cry? It feels like a thousand knives stabbing you to hear your kid wailing in the middle of the night. And for me, when I wake up in the morning, my clothes are in the closet in his nursery. Okay. So I've got to go in there and that's usually around the time where he's up crying. So I've got a tiptoe in the darkness, not cut any lights on, figure out what I'm going to wear. I use the little phone, the little light on my iPhone to try to see what the hell is in my closet. Yeah. I can match my clothes and get out of there without being compelled to pick him up and sue them. There's no way I could do that. Yeah. So he's, but when you're doing that, he's crying or he's asleep, you're trying not to wake him up. No, he's crying. He's crying. So I'm going in there. He's already crying. So now then you're just dad ignoring him. Yes. He's son of a... I feel like Jack now.
I feel like this is going to come back to buy me a jazz. Is it working at all? Yes, it is working. Okay. It is working. We're a couple of weeks into this thing. It's working, but it's a slow burn. All right. So aside from that, listen, it's doing a radio show. We get it. We're in the sandbox of life over here. But you get up for these hours at an ungodly hour. That's true. So how has the baby affected the sleep from that standpoint or has it not? Are you actually at an advantage? No, the sleep is cool. I go to bed around 10.30 and I get up at 4. Oh, that's... Consider it. That's not horrible. That could be a lot worse. The kid is put down around 8.30. Okay. And he usually sleeps until around 1. He gets up for a feed. And so either my wife and I will take care of that feed, eight ounces, back to sleep.
And then he's not... We're not messing with him until around 6 or 7 in the morning. So you're in good shape here. In good shape here. Just one like... You know, I sleep until 6.30. Congratulations, you sir. And I still go to bed at 10.30. So you know, you know, I know kids. I know. And ruin my life. What do you know? I heard Tannenbaum ask you this question for the other day, but I'm going to ask it anyway. What do you know now about fatherhood that you didn't know? That I didn't know a damn thing about fatherhood. Any kind of misconception that I had went out of the window. But anything that you think you know about parenthood until you actually have a kid, it just proves that you don't know Jack. And so I think that's the biggest thing I was used to working these hours getting up early in the morning, but then also getting a long two or three hour nap in the afternoon. Yeah, that's that's gone by. Yeah, there is no nap. There is no... You're at the mercy of this kid. His schedule becomes your schedule. So when he sleeps, you sleep. Yeah. When he naps you, nap. You know, you can't really eat when he eats because you're spending time teaching him how to eat.
So the one thing I realize is I eat a breakfast bar in the mornings when I get up with a piece of fruit. And the next time I'm actually eating a sit down meal is at around 830 after I've put him to bed. So you have to actually have to teach him how to eat. Like maybe that's a separate career thing for me if this doesn't work out that I can teach him how to eat. Yeah. This is a chalupa. Yeah, well, you got to put things in front of him and get him to eat him. And then you have to sit there while he's staring at me trying to decide whether or not he's actually going to eat it. Yeah. So it's like, think about it. You're negotiating with another human about doing something that's in their best interest. You're negotiating with a terrorist and somebody is exactly what it is. Exactly what it is. One that you love. Think about that. If you're a parent, you're a master. Because you're putting yourself voluntarily through torture. Oh, well speaking of torture, it wasn't last week for the first time in a while with the giants and with the jets. How are you? How about that?
It was something representative of pro football off of exit 16 on the new jersey. Who would have thought it? My first point Monday morning was we have functional football. We don't have to watch an offense that will put up 70 yards in a game. So who's more excited? Just fans of giants fans. I think the answer is yes. I mean, I would probably say giant fans to tell you the truth. Okay. Because let's let's start there. I don't know about you. Giants could win six games this year. I'm still going to be fine on the idea that there. I'll be a little disappointed if that happened. But I know that they have a guy in place who's going to make sure that this is headed in the right direction. I don't, you know, like I still chuckle when I think of Dave Gellman saying with Pat Schurmer, we have an adult in the room. No, you have an adult in the room now. This is the guy. So all of that has we feeling good about but when you go out and see it actually translate against a good team, I don't know how you don't feel great about where it's at.
Yeah, I mean, you have to. There's an argument to be made that the giants have the best head coach in the NFC East. And I don't think it's that much of a leap or something. And I don't think it's that much of a leap or a stretch. The one thing that I will say that I wasn't sure about is what the weapons around Jackson, dark will look like. And so far you got to be excited. The the addition of zealikely seems like that's going to be huge in terms of Jackson, dark leaning on him. You saw those third downs on that last possession to crucial conversions going to Isaiah likely a couple of touchdown passes to. They've become you know, fast friends in terms of the passing game and being able to establish that connection. The running game cam scataboo look good. The design quarterback runs look good. There were so many runs where you had lead blockers looking for people to block because it was so clean, right? The touchdown run by cam scataboo. Isaiah likely was the lead blocker. There was nobody to be found to block. He started celebrating before scataboo was in the end zone.
You look at that tape against the Dallas Cowboys. It was all littered on it. And guess what? When it wasn't blocked up perfect when there was a free hitter for the Cowboys, the running backs for the New York Giants were BYOB. Bring your own blockers. They were lower in their shoulder, establishing physicality. They were actually picking up yards after contact. So the overall physicality of it in the Giants owning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball is what has me encouraged. I said this to you earlier this year. I said when the New York Giants are good on the offensive line and the defensive line high level winning seems to follow with this franchise. I feel like this is the best group on the offensive line and on the defensive front that they've had since the Super Bowl 4016, which I was a part of. What I particularly enjoy about it is football front and ESPN New York brought to you by draft Kings. The crown is yours. They didn't make any bones about what they were going to do. Okay, we're down a receiver.
We have four receivers. We're going to have four tight ends. We're going to have four running backs on this roster, but you know leading up to the game before they elevate guys. But the point is no, we're going to run the ball at you and we don't care that you know it. And that was the most encouraging aspect of it for me the other night. If you can impose your will, even though when the team knows what's coming and they can't stop. So you got 65 to 70 snaps on both sides of the ball in a giving game. And Bill Parcell is used to always live by the formula of you want to be on the other side of 50 when it comes to runs plus completions. Usually when you do that, your team's going to be hard to beat. The New York Giants on Sunday night football against the Dallas Cowboys had 60 runs plus completions. Wow. Jackson Dart taking care of the ball, making good decisions, staying out of harm's way. And then obviously the running game and in the defense, finding ways to be effective,
enforce some situations where the Dallas Cowboys were turning the ball over or find a way to get off the field. And here's the great thing about what we saw on Sunday night. It was complimentary football in a way that we haven't seen with Giants football in a decade. Right. Yeah. Because even though the Dallas Cowboys were what eight of 11 on third downs, it didn't seem like it hurt you because the Dallas Cowboys just didn't have the ball that many times. They had two possessions in the entire second half. Guess what? If it's a two possession game for most of the game and the other team only gets the ball twice in one half of football, you're probably going to win that game.
