Hour 2: Are you more compelled by the Guardians or Cavs tonight? + Joe DeLeone

0:00Joe De Leon, A-Z Sports, joining us in 20 minutes, Nick Padone, in today on afternoon drive. All right, Nick, big L.A. weekend, a really weak, huge L.A. weekend. And I know you're a big L.A. guy, I don't know how you become a big L.A. guy. I wouldn't say I'm a big, I'm a big L.A. sports guy, but just like in general, you're more California than you are in Los Angeles. Yeah, like Southern California is cool. I'm more like, so my best friend lives in San Diego. San Diego seems great. It was a very easy point in my life, a little bit more than a year ago before I started up here. Yeah. Where I was doing a lot of my work remotely, it'd be pretty easy to just go missing for two, three weeks. You just go to San Diego. Oh, that way. Did you guys ever go to Tijuana? Party of time. Yeah. Yeah, the only time when I was 15 years old, my mom was like, let's go on a trip. She took each one of my siblings and myself and we all got to kind of like pick one trip

1:00with each of my year and be like, yeah, that's what our trip is. And so we went and watched, we went and watched a Padre's four game series against the Cubs. And I sat next to, I was sat next to Greg Maddox's dad for one of the games that Maddox was pitching oddly enough. It was fantastic. But one of the things we did at 15 years old, my mom took me to Tijuana and so she got some pain meds. I bet on some horses. It was a good family trip. Like in hindsight, I'm like, this is kind of, it's a little, little odd, I guess. It's not a traditional family set up, but hey, I had a blast. Like at 15 years old, I was so into horse racing and baseball and we were able to do both of those things on that trip. I'll never forget coming back in because coming back in is, it takes a lot more time than obviously going to Tijuana. Coming back in, you're stopped and you're held up and it takes like a three hour line to get in or maybe a minimum of like three, four hours, whatever it was. When I was 15 years old, so I had no identification. And so I was, I was, I was in this line and I was getting ready to cross over and the guy was like, all right, show me your ID and I'm like, I'm 15. I don't have one. Yeah. And he's like, okay. Oh, they're not a big fan of that.

2:01I know. I'm not a big fan of that. Not having ID. Apparently not great. But my mom for some reason didn't even think about it. I don't know why she didn't. She's the adult in the scenario. She probably should have. But I'm 15. I'm also not like nine. I probably could have checked that I needed an ID to get back into America. And the guy was like, who's the president? And I was like, George W. Bush. And he's like, all right, good to go. That was it. I swear on my life. That's it. He just wanted to make sure I could tell him what the president was. And then he's like, all right, you're fine. And I was able to keep going. That was it. How many times have changed? That was it. But I wanted to only trip to Tijuana. Going up to Canada. We got stopped. Me and a couple of buddies got stopped. Because my friend quite literally couldn't have messed up the interaction with the first person. You know, we rolled down the window. Now to go to Canada, you got to have your passport. So we all had passports, hand of the passports, one by one, it's asking what we're coming up for. It's a real day weekend or something, which I was hilarious because they don't really know Z. They don't. And he stuttered through every question that he asked what we were coming up for just

3:02the weekend. That would have been the answer that suffice. Where are you guys staying in Airbnb? My buddy, Chris, like, stuttered through both answers. He was like, we're just coming out. We're going to go to a baseball game. Like he couldn't have been more sketchy about why we were going up to Canada. And of course, we had to pull over, get out of the car. They checked the car, nothing in there. It took like 45 minutes to get into Canada. Which is just, and I probably just speak that way anyway, but he probably just speaks that way anyway. Right. I think he was kind of, he was caught off guard by the question. I think we were very much anticipating it, like, roll down window, hand off passports, see that we're good and you can go right through, but that was not the case. It's like he needed a rehearsal for this. We like, we like, well, if we ever go back, we'll have to prep it like, you know, when you get a start getting in Buffalo, like, okay, if we start that, get nice questions. Why are we going up here? Where are we staying? Let's work. What is the purpose of our trip? Just remind yourself just that way. So that way we don't have a nice 45 minute stop where this minivan will be searched.

4:03All right. So anyway, thank the question, though, because obviously we're taking on two LA teams, but it's got a lot at stake. Show me, Otani, one of the best players in baseball, not the best player in baseball. And I mean, basically just box office, everything he does. We on the mound tonight against the guardians and then LeBron James on the other side of this. It's Laker's cab. Second night of a back to back. There is no world that exists where there should be any expectations for the cabs to do anything in this game. It just, it's a, it can't be, it's not a real game in my opinion, okay? Like, I'm not, I'm not watching the cabs in the sense of, oh, they have to win this one tonight. Again, second night of a back to back, but it is LeBron James and it could potentially be the last time LeBron James takes on the cabs either because of retirement at the end of this year or maybe he actually just joins the cabs next season, but the point is, this could be the last time the cabs take on what Bron James, which one are you more invested in tonight? Come on. Does that even need to be asked? I mean, I got an obvious answer for myself with the way that you're asking this. I think we're on different pages.

5:05LeBron. Oh no, it's Otani for me. LeBron? Otani plays. Like in the second night of a back to back, 160 some games every single year, like Otani was, I can't stress how little this game, this cabs game actually matters. Otani was just in Cleveland a couple of months ago. He turned around the lead off pitch of the game into the seats. I was there. Like, I, I, I've gotten to know Tony fix like I, I will keep an eye on what's going on with the guards and obviously the fact that show he's on the mound tonight means a little bit more. And I want to see three MVP's, uh, we legitimately, the Babe Ruth of our lifetime. Yeah, but LeBron could make NBA, LeBron could become the winningest player in NBA history tonight. If the Lakers beat the calves, more wins the regular and postseason than any other player in basketball history. And is that the mark that's a marker staying on this could be the last LeBron V Cleveland game? I said to sell the fight too well in that regard, but like let's be realistic. LeBron is, he's not retiring after the season.

6:06Right. This is more likely than not. This is not the last time. But it could be the last LeBron V Cleveland. He's going to be LeBron. I'm the LeBron. That's what. So that's what then you get to watch him 82 times next season. You'll have a full dose of LeBron James. Like if anything, I want to forget this time with the Lakers more than I want to remember it. I mean, why would he back like 25 years from now? Oh, remember that the last time the calves took on the LeBron Lakers, maybe if a moment happens tonight, what if LeBron and Donovan Mitchell start talking to each other through their jerseys and there's a real cryptic, you know, seen on the floor at the end of the game or does he dab up James Harden and I'll catch the highlight on Twitter from you tweeting it out and being like, I can't believe they actually look at that non discrete language. Like right from a pure, from an actual entertainment standpoint tonight, it's not even debatable. One of the best players baseball has ever seen up against the guardians in an early part of the season. Oh, Jay, for three hours, that is going to be much more enjoyable than watching LeBron against a calves team that I'm hoping they rest everybody tonight.

7:07Well, it's going to be my opinion, it'll be no Donovan, should be no Jared Allen, obviously, should be no James Harden, it should be nobody, it should be a big Keon Alice night tonight. Okay. Well, and that should influence things and maybe if it is really a punt game, then I'll have, you know, the guardians on big TV calves, I mean, that's all I'm talking. I'm talking three hour enjoyment window because let's be honest, we're not going to remember any of it 10 years from now anyway, but like three hours enjoyment, am I going to watch Austin Reeves and Luca do a whole display of just basically embarrassing this calves team as everyone that matters rest or am I going to watch the best baseball player I've ever seen in my life in Otani, be able to not only pitch, but then also be able to take on the guardians in many different ways like this is I, to me, it's a no brainer. Well, the glorious thing about this in reality is we could both be right because the starts are a little bit staggered. The casers set to tip at 1030, you know, in NBA language, that really means 1045. And then the guards are set to start at what, Mac 1010, I think, yeah, 1010's right.

8:08So you'll get to see those first couple innings of a lot of crossover though. That's a lot. It is. It's a lot of crossover, but you get to start strong with guards, both are going to end around the same time because baseball games are about 40 minutes longer than basketball games. Yeah. The ending will be tough, especially if it's close, and the ending is probably the reason to tune into the calves more so than anything. No, I want to see if the calves ending isn't going to be anything. That's what I'm trying to tell you. No, you're missing. You're missing. You're missing about, you know, you're looking at this, you're looking at this through the wrong lens. You're looking at this. There's only eight regular season games. The go, the calves are going to rest. Everybody. They're getting ready for the playoffs. Playoffs is one thing. I'm looking ahead to what's happening in July. What's happening in free agency? How do I get the, the, the king back to Cleveland is what I'm looking for, but not that happens tonight. Yeah. But Tony against the guardians. But they can lay groundwork for that tonight. Oh, Tony against the guardians only happens and happens exclusively tonight. One night show. Get your ticket. Step right up.

9:09Yeah. But this is Lebron that we're talking about. Like Lebron in Cleveland, Lebron versus the calves Lebron with the calves, anything that is associated with Lebron in Cleveland, well, just by nature, I'll perform anything that happens in Major League Baseball. I know. Yeah. I already know. Show Hayo. Tony's awesome. You don't need the confirmation. Like, like, like, last year, I watched Show Hay and the Dodgers come to Cleveland and it confirmed any semblance of doubt that I might have had, but that guy's pretty good. You're like, hey, world's greatest pizza slice. I've done that. I did that once. I don't need to do that again. It's a good time to go back for another. Is it not? Like show Hay again. One dose of the greatest baseball player to ever exist. You get one dose and you're satisfied. Well, I'm not sad. Go back for a second. Show Hay against this Cleveland Guardians offense in the last day of March. I think I could kind of predict how the game might even unfold. Oh, yeah. How's that? What is your prediction here? That show Hayo looks pretty good in the Guardians offense. Looks pretty bad.

10:10And the sad part of this con, though, is that part of the rooting interest of this game is you want to watch Show Hayo, Tony, be great. You want the Guardians to win, obviously, but you do want Show Hayo, Tony, to then held up and hold up that end of the bargain. Do you not? I think that's got to be part of the equation. I already know Mac. I know where you're going. I don't even have to ask you, but I will entertain it. I'm going to go with pedone on this one, actually. I'm surprised. I'm very surprised here. That's just because of how the show started. I think so. I think there's a grudge match thing going on here. Look, I love, I love a great baseball game. I love watching Show Hayo, Tony, but at the same time, though, like what Nick said, it's laying the groundwork for this summer, and it's all of the subliminal crap that LeBron loves to do and everything leading up to it during the game, even if it's high-fiving James Arden or something like that. And even especially the fact that LeBron's a Nike guy, the fact that if he comes here, you're going to have three Adidas guys on the team. How is he interacting with those guys on the court? And again, setting that stuff up for the summer at that point to where like, even if it's all of a sudden, Bronnie starts getting minutes or something like that.

11:12What are you doing for the other two hours ahead of this game? Like I mean, you guys are getting some cardio. You guys are really pushing. Watching both defenses struggle for the most part is both guards end up doing well offensively. I think minute for minute, if we're doing a pound for pound type discussion, minute for minute, watching Otoni versus the Guardians is going to give you so much more enjoyment than watching Bronn. It's not going to give me enjoyment because I'm going to see the Guardians striking out a ton like they normally end up doing. And JP nationally, I think the water versus Otoni, you kidnaps. Okay. You know what? Like what Nick said. National. Nationally, I think people would agree with you. I think people would agree with you nationally that watching Otoni pitch versus LeBron and what's left of his career and the Cavs who are resting, get ready for the playoffs and these Lakers like Otoni V De Lauder is a better storyline. I think people would agree with that nationally. But locally here, when you're talking about the gravity of everything that's behind LeBron, what he's done for the Cavs, what he's done. What he can continue to do for the Cavs if he comes back this summer, I think the

12:13intrigue will always skew LeBron over anything baseball. I think big picture you're right, obviously, but I'm talking about my enjoyment for tonight. What's more compelling for this evening and what's more compelling for the three hours is going to be not not the Cavs second team going up against the Lakers. To Max Point, I look back to LeBron when he was still in Cleveland. His last game in LA, the lasting image of that was him talking through the jersey to LeBron. That's not what tonight is though. That's not what tonight is though. Tonight is him. It's him in Wawa land. It's him in Los Angeles and if something like that does happen where he does the under the shirt thing, under the jersey thing with Donovan Mitchell tonight, guess who's going to have equipped and so I can watch on the internet. You, I'm looking right at you. Guess who's going to have it? You'll have it there for me because you do that type of stuff on the internet and I appreciate it. I don't need to for those three hours be locked in. The game itself is not going to really be that good, whereas the Guardians game has a chance to be, I mean, that you get this game once a year, Otoni versus your team, the best player in baseball against your team and he's pitching, he's starting, you get that once

13:15a year. So I, for me, though, it's an easy answer. Now, obviously, we own multiple TVs. We'll both be watching both of them. That's, that's our reality. But which one gets the main screen TV for me, which one gets the audio and the sound attached to it? So you're putting guards on big TV. I'm putting guards on big TV. We go out to the maker right, Cole Kyle Wright, Hotline, Joe Daily Own, A to Z Sports joining us here on the fan. Joe, how you doing today? I'm doing great. It's been interesting trying to keep up with all the craziness happening from these owners meetings, but having a pretty good week. Well, yeah, let's actually, let's ask you about that first before we dive into some of the draft conversation, because we've been trying to keep track of it as well. And all it's turned into is Andrew Berry voicing a lot of, I don't know, support is what we'll call it for Dishon Watson.

14:16And then Jimmy has them doing more support for Dishon Watson. I know it's not a surprise, but it does feel like Dishon Watson is going to have a real crack at it. What's your read on that? Well, like I talked about last week, I feel one is telling that they're indicating multiple times, multiple people within the organization have kind of leaned towards Watson for everything that's put on the table to bring into this organization and obviously the gigantic flop. It feels like you get to the point where you got to try and extract something out of it. You got to at least try and see if you can get some sort of a result. And as we discussed last week, the upcoming draft class in 2027 is supposed to have a lot better options. If you're not going to get Mendoza and you're not in love with Tyson Sin, see if Watson can at least perform on up that maybe you could build around him in the future. But the more likely outcome is he stinks it up and you turn the page and you capitalize

15:18on your team, maybe struggling, not buying tanking, but your team's struggling and having a high draft selection. How different is this from what the Cardinals are doing with Jacobi Berset and what the Jets are doing with Geno Smith is practically the same thing, minus love the baggage that the Sean Lawson brings. Joe, is there a world where Andrew Barry, maybe even Jimmy Haslam are doing what they did last year, this time last year, they were talking so much Travis Hunter, are they trying to distract us from maybe the fact that they really could like Tyson Sin? I'm sure that, well, first of all, now is definitely the time to do that. Now is when we're really not that far from the draft, it's really creeping up on us after we termed the draft is earlier than it typically, it's on the 23rd, which feels really weird, it's usually, I'm always expecting it to be the end of the month, so we're not many weeks away and now in the owner's meetings is the time to start putting out those little rumors,

16:19those thoughts, let people latch on to the quotes and the thoughts, I think it's a really good point. I was kind of, I wasn't into the player at the beginning of April, it's a little bit of a tiring task, trying to decipher what some of these coaches and some of these gyms are saying, but it's feeling like a lot of the commentary coming from many of these decision makers is trying to lay the groundwork for a diversion on what they could end up doing on draft day. I just wouldn't rule anything out with the Browns because the Browns of the current moment as good as their defense is and how they have set up their defense to possibly be better with some of the young pieces taking a leap in 2026, they have a lot of work to go on offense. So as much as we don't know what they're going to do at quarterback, it's still on the table and we probably won't know until the pick is in for them at number six and at the end of the first round. All right, so let's play through this exercise then, Joe. If the Browns really wanted Ty Simpson, how would you go about doing it when you have picked six and 24 in the first round?

17:21What would be your strategy to make sure not only you got them, but then everything came out glowingly for yourself? I think that the first most important bit if you're going to draft Ty Simpson, you have to use that sixth overall pick on an offensive lineman. I'm not drafting Ty Simpson and missing out on the opportunity to improve the offensive line. But first and foremost, you cannot drop Ty that has been deemed developmental in a little bit of a project that needs some time to grow because he's got limited experience. You can't drop him onto a team like this without having the proper protection. Now he would likely have a bit of a runway with other guys that could step in whether it's Shedore or it is Watson, but they have to focus on building up the offensive line. I say that should be part of the consideration if they want to use that 24th overall pick on Ty Simpson. And then I feel like reading the temperature of the rest of the first round to see if anybody is going to maybe bite with a jet, maybe bite with their second first run pick.

18:25Would the Steelers maybe bite? Would the Rams potentially maybe try and take swing on Ty Simpson? I feel as though if he made it past 15 somewhere in that range, maybe that would motivate them to consider moving out. And one big benefit of having two first run picks in a year where it's a pretty weak draft class and it might be a little cheaper to move up. It wouldn't hurt them if they really do like Ty Simpson to maybe move up and to make sure that they get it. And I think that the comparison for hats for what happens is what the giants did last year with Jackson Dart, where they didn't have a first run pick like the Browns do a second run pick like the Browns do this year. But they waited and they felt out the market and wanted to see how long they can wait without giving up ridiculous capital to make sure that they got their guy, but they still traded up in order to make sure that they can land. I feel like the market's a little stronger on Ty Simpson than it was on Jackson Dart.

19:26So it might require some sort of a slot up in order to make sure that they box somebody else out from taking them. So you mentioned left tackle there. I think a lot of Browns fans would agree with you that that's the position they want to see the team address at six overall. How do you have these left tackles stacked up against one another though because we had Ryan Wilson on our morning show really likes Kate and Proctor and said that he could be the pick for the Browns at six. We went through like two weeks of Monroe Freeling as the pick at six, but it feels like there's not that sure fire left tackle. There's not that Joe Alt in this class. How do you have the actual left tackle stacked up against one another? Yeah, the left tackle market this year is really it's weird. As you mentioned there, there's no Joe Alt. There's not a long list of options to even consider. It really is Monroe Freeling and then you look at the back end of the first round at

20:27the Blake Miller's the Caleb Lomuz of this class. Mind it with Kate and Proctor, I don't think that he's a left tackle. I don't like the way that he moves with space around him. I think that he's just such a booking presence and he's such a gigantic player that he's far better off being in more of a phone booth and moving inside the guard. He and this is not a great comp is as close to Evan Neal as you can get and hopefully he's a lot more motivated and a lot more focused than Evan Neal was. The big problem with having observed Evan Neal over the beginning of his career was that he was dropped in the right tackle and it was clear from the jumps that he could not move well with a lot of space around him. He couldn't redirect. He couldn't recover and it got to the point where it just felt like the giants were in the position that they were hoping that they invested so much that he could get something out of them. I think that if you're drafting Kate and Proctor, you shouldn't over invest one by drafting

21:29him really early and two, you shouldn't have this expectation that he's going to work at tackle. I just have a lot of fear that there is going to be some hope and expectation he turns into this other world, the offensive line prospect. But my biggest issue with him is that we've been waiting for that jump to happen since he was a freshman and he started playing really early on in Alabama. All right, let me ask you about Jeremiah Love because I feel like we've done this a couple times where it's like, all right, is he really as big of a prospect as Seikwan as Ashton Genti? But the reality is, if the Browns aren't going to be serious about 2026 and they're playing for 2027 and then beyond, it does open up their draft board in an interesting way. If he makes it to six, should the Browns go ahead and make that as the selection? I won't take the consideration of they already invested in clean shot and jukes and also I know Joe and Samson's on it back, they're keeping you from drafting Jeremiah Love. Did he better off not getting the swing on running back, but I think that where the Jeremiah

22:31Love conversation happens with the Browns is how they can leverage Jeremiah Love into getting somebody else to trade up for him. He is undoubtedly the best offensive prospect in this class. And I look at a number of teams at the beginning of the teens area. Maybe it's a team like the Cowboys that would consider making a move up. Maybe it's a team like the Vikings that would consider moving up and going and getting him. I feel like the Browns could end up pulling some pretty heavy capital for franchise that thinks that they're one big home run elite piece away from taking themselves over the top and becoming an elite prolific unstoppable offense. Instead of the possibility of the Browns taking him, I think that the main focus needs to be, who can we do in giving us a ton of draft capital that prepares us for 2027? Joe, you mentioned just all of the issues that ale, this Cleveland Browns offense and wider receiver is the other one that we have not mentioned yet.

23:35Do you think Carnell Tate could be in play for the Browns at six? Is that something that you would wait on until 2024, especially as we start working on getting a little bit closer to the NFL draft here? Yeah, I'm not. Look, I really like Carnell Tate. I just don't love the idea of taking in that early. I think that he's a really good player. If he's going to be a prototypical Z, he's a great, a strong strider, a great deep route runner. He's got a lot of nuance the way that he runs his route. And I think he's going to be super dangerous as a second receiver in an offense. We already have Jerry Judy. The roles would be defined and you kind of have an understanding of the two working well together. We're much rather wait until that 24th pick to take a swing at receiver, especially to the fact that this year's receiver class, it's quite deep. There are going to be options on the table for them to consider at that 24th spot that are going to try to be really good starters. I think that the most important thing in draft classes and where teams extract the most value is understanding and feeling out where runs are going to start to happen at certain

24:40position groups. And when you have certain positions like in this class at receiver that has options later on at the end of the first and also on day two, waiting and trying to address positions that are much thinner would be much better for your roster building philosophy. So this year, we just talked about that tackle. Tackle overall is a really weak clap. When I was watching tackles this year, I certainly get to the 15th guy that I was watching and I was almost dumbfounded how weak the very end of this class is. I got to a point where in the past, I've graded tackles and I've had players that were mid day three picks, maybe hires in that, there were 15, 16th guys that I've watched. I came around and I had a bunch of dudes that I gave seven and three on grades on, late day three grades on. So I think that trying to find off at the blind in this year early is far more important than looking at receiver early and taking carnal tape when you can probably find someone who's not as dynamic, that would be much greater value for where you're picking them.

25:43I want to ask Joe about this class in general, though, like if we have, you know, picks six in most years, what is the actual, what are we getting in this? Is picks six really like what pick 12 would be in most years or pick 13 or do you think picks six is still picks six and we should have the expectations of that? I think that picks six still maintain loads to the same value. If I had to in point, it probably maybe pick eight, I don't think it's much of a drop off, but I think that and I'm purely just kind of throwing out another there when I say that. The one thing with this class, though, is that there's still premiere talent at the top. The issue when we look at the classes a whole and where it starts to like really shift, is that after we get past the premiere defensive players that have been discussed, Arville, David Bailey, Sonny Stiles, Gille of Downs, after those guys are gone and Jeremiah Love is off the board, it starts to taper off. I think that maybe you could throw, at least for me, Francis Maui Noah into the discussion

26:45of the types of guys that you should be excited to draft and add to your team because of the steadiness and the reliability, but for the most part, there is going to be inflation on a lot of these guys in draft value. So we're seeing it with Cardinal Tate a bit where he'd probably be more of a guy that goes in the teams and he's being discussed as the top 10 tech. Guys that like Monroe Freeling or Switzerlandau and Big Ione, those guys would probably be players that would go more in the teams. They're being discussed as top 10 techs. The same thing goes with some of the corners, some of the other safety prospects. I mean, heck, we just had a long discussion about Tyson Simpson who's, his draft stock is a little bit inflated as well. I think that it has less to do with where the Browns did at six and more to do with those picks and the teams in the back end of the first round. That's when things start to look a lot more inflated than in a typical draft class. Joe understanding that the Browns quarterback might not be evident to them and to the world until 2027.

27:46Is there a way for the Browns to be able to trade out of that sixth overall spot? And if so, what teams should we be watching for and is it off the table that the Browns would be able to get an extra first round pick in 2027 if they do decide to trade back? I don't know about getting another first round pick. I mean, last year we witnessed if we have something like the Falcons being really aggressive and trading back in to have a second first round pick because they really want to improve their past rush. I think that that's viable. But I think that the scenario that I outlined with Jeremiah Love is absolutely on the table. But the other one that is really worth considering is looking at the group of teams and the teams that need to improve their past rushes. So I look at the Dallas Cowboys. I look at the Tampa Bay bucket years. I look at maybe the Detroit Lions. Those teams would be excited to grab whoever ends up sliding.

28:47So if theoretically Rubin Bain or David Bayley or Arvel Reese end up sliding a little bit. Maybe it's sunny styles for one of these teams that needs to improve their linebacker or maybe it's Caleb Downs who slides a little bit just because of maybe teams being panicked about missing out on some of the offensive linemen that we discussed. I think that the market that gets created comes from those franchises that don't want to take a beat to your past rusher. There is a very finite number of premier elite past rushers in this class as we've talked about. If those guys, one of those guys is still there, I think at pick six, that's when the discussion starts happening because if you're one of those teams in the teams like I discussed, if you wait the Brown or sorry, the Bengals and the Chiefs and the Saints all could end up taking past rushers off the board that you were eyeing. So I think that that is probably the most likely scenario is that somebody's trying to find their franchise altering past rusher because they missed out and for agency, maybe on trying to take a swing at one of these names that were out there in the open market.

He is undoubtedly the best offensive prospect in this class and I look at a number of teams at the beginning of the like the teens area, maybe it's a team like the Cowboys that would consider making a move up. Maybe it's a team like the Vikings that would consider moving up and going getting him. I feel like that the Browns could end up pulling some pretty heavy capital for franchise

30:54that thinks that they're one big home run elite piece away from taking themselves over the top and becoming an elite prolific unstoppable all day. That was Joe De Leoni joined us last segment. It is afternoon drive, John of the pit on Nick Padone with you guys today and Nick, I think one of the takeaways in listening to that is the idea that Jeremiah love is that type of prospect and it's not necessarily that neither one of us are advocating for Jeremiah. I don't know. You tell me if you like love or not, I don't know, but I don't get the impression that you're like take running back at six overall, but it speaks more to the idea of what this draft has to offer and the idea that if you're trying to get value out of that six overall pick, there's still top end talent and there's still pieces on the board where it falls off is maybe around pick number 10. That's right. I think it's an interesting discussion about what this draft overall is. Yeah, it's very fascinating and my big takeaway from that entire chat with Joe was just the fact that it feels like any left tackle that we want to sandwich in at six, whether

31:54it's Kate and Proctor, whether it's Monroe Freeling, people are going to say that that's a reach. And then I asked him about carnal tape and the need at wide receiver and he said even at six carnal tape would be too rich for his blood. So it feels like the two big needs that the Browns have going into this draft don't match where their draft slot is at six and a trade back would better suit them. So it feels so strange because I'm usually so anti trade back. I'm usually a little bit closer to where coach Ritz falls on this is you stay pat and you draft good football players. You win with dudes. You know, I love when coach Ritz keeps saying like you win with dudes in the NFL, I love that. I'm like, because he is right. Like you watch by the way on with Ken tomorrow morning. Okay. So you watch, you know, some of these big teams that are really consistently good and they're winning because they have dudes on their roster. So like what coach is saying is right, but where I get lost in it all is, okay, yeah, but I've got a big need at left tackle. I've got a big need at wide receiver.

32:56And I like what Quinshaw and Chuck can stay last. And so let's be honest about it though. When we first started having a lot of these con vows, it seemed as if, and then again, take it back like two months ago, it seemed as if we had a bunch of different wide receivers. You said to find out which one you liked and it seemed like we had a bunch of different guys on the offensive line. You just had to find out which one you liked. And now right tackles been taken out of the equation. And so for focusing exclusively on left tackles, it came in product or keeps getting brought up Ryan Wilson seems to like him a ton. He was on the morning show earlier today. We'll play that for you guys in a second. But Monroe Freeling has always been a reach. These guys have always kind of been in that territory of it. And so you'd say trade down, but I don't know that you're going to have the partners to trade down in this draft. And so. And then we just heard that that 2027 in first round picks aren't necessarily hanging on trees either. So people want the 2027. So you could forget about anything close to the package that you got for the Travis Hunter trade last year. When you back out of two, you get the first round pick. That's all the table. You could completely forget about all that. Like if you trade back, it's going to be for significantly less than what you got in

34:00last year's trade back. All right. Let's hear it. This is Ryan Wilson earlier today on the morning show. I would take Kate and Proctor here all day long. Right. I think we're overthinking it with him. But the caveat, the mitigating factor in terms of my thought process for the Browns six is that if you have concerns about the Juan Jones's weight, clearly they did and the rest of the league did because he fell to the fourth round, then maybe you want to pass on Kate and Proctor who was 357 and look great at the combine, but he did not play at 357. He played somewhere north of that. There were reasons I had heard, I don't think anyone has reported this, but I had heard one of the incentives was to allow him to do the things he did against George in terms of catchy passes and and running the ball was if he met his weight requirements, that would be sort of his bonus, if you will, if the weight concerns are a concern at all for you and you're drafting him and you've had those issues with the Juan Jones, the next best left tackle for me is Caleb Lomu, but he's probably a year away. He needs to add some weight and then it's been row free. So we are bonus, by the way, like if his weight is, if first of all, he's in the 98th percent

35:01talent weight, but it's like the bonus is you get to do what Alabama did and put him in and give him the ball a couple times a game. Like what? I'm not drafting a guy six overall as a tackle to go ahead and also be like William the fridge Perry. I just, that's not what we're doing here. I mean, JP, you want to skill position player. Is that how I get it? Yeah. You can give one. What it has to be 350. That's what it takes. Yeah. As long as he's 348 and not a pound over, Munk will give him a couple carries on the back field. Hey, you did have a 5 2 2 40. Munk and said he was looking for a full moon, Munk and said he was looking for a full back today. Did he not? He did say that in a weird display of, hey, let's do this coaches breakfast and let's just say things. Uh, him being adamant about a full back was one that was not on the list of things for not for myself, at least. I don't know what to do with this info. Hayden Proctor has not been projected out to be number six overall anywhere. Matt Miller on his big board has him as the 31st rank prospect and the sixth as far as offensive tackles are concerned. He's not number six overall. I can't find Alabama fans that thinks he's six overall, but I guess Ryan Wilson is very

36:05different in that regard. No, like if the draft chime played in the commissioner takes the stage there in Pittsburgh and the name Kaden Proctor is announced at six, I think you'd have a lot of Brown's fans upset. Not because that you need a left tackle. Everybody knows that, but because it's six, that's going to feel like a pretty big reach. And then you've got guys like Joe Delio and talking with us and he doesn't even view them as a left tackle. He's got some real concerns about, you know, the size and the weight and that he could maybe be better on the interior. So I'm done with that, dude. I'm done playing games with guys that don't know if they're left tackles or right tack tackles or could be too heavy to be a tackle period and be better off as a guard. I need a real left tackle, especially if I'm taking one at six, like I'm not taking some sort of hybrid guy that might be too big to even be a left tackle. Well, will they reach and try to get these guys off before you get a bunch of tackles that are just no longer either good or on the board? Like this is by many accounts, the weakest offensive tackle class since 2015.

37:06You had to go back almost over a decade to find a weaker offensive tackle class and who knows maybe it turns into something because this is kind of how this all works. But as the projections look right now, I'm here in weakest since 2015. And it's, it's just so typical Browns. Is it not that we've got these beyond obvious needs in two spots and you've got two first round picks to address them and you need a left tackle and it's beyond just the two spots. So we can make an argument that if you throw quarterback in there, the two years that they've had picks to be able to take a quarterback, we have been very underwhelmed with the quarterback selection. And it's, it's just so typical, man, that everybody and anybody that we're talking to from a national perspective is telling us, well, if you take any one of these life tackle options there, it's not that there's a shortage of options. There's enough names that the Browns can draft from Monroe Freeling to Caleb Lomu to Kate and Proctor for that left tackle and then receiver similar thing with Carnell Tate and McKay Lemon and Jordan Tyson. And of course, this happens to be the year where none of those guys are Joel.

38:06None of those guys are Jamar Chase and we've got these big needs and it feels like if they address both or either of those needs, it's going to be a dice roll. It's so classic. Yeah. Yeah. I know. And it's going to let coach Riz just talk about those dudes. That's all that's all it is. That's all it is. And we're going to, we're going to refer them back to coach Riz and then all coach Riz's haters are going to be like, well, come on coach Riz doesn't have any haters. Oh, coach Riz has haters. He's got no haters. He's got no haters. If you hate coach Riz, you just hate life. Well, there are a lot of there's a lot of that on the internet. No, there are people like go after coach because he's saying like one of these defensive ends, you know, could be a game changing player for the Browns, even though it's not a position to need. You've got these people that are just that's a non-starter for them. I'd rather argue with a wall than argue with coach Riz. Okay. I just said there's just no, because he replies and he he replies so politely as well. That's like, I hope he'll reply and he's like he's in the replies like everyone's entitled to their opinion.
