Every week on the Moth Podcast, real people tell their stories live on stage. I burst into tears. And I wasn't sure if I was crying because I hadn't been kissed in a really long time or if I had just never been kissed like that before. To hear fascinating, heartbreaking, and sometimes hilarious stories from astronauts, teachers, farmers, and people just like you, follow and listen to the Moth wherever you get your podcasts. And I'm sure you'll be able to do that. Absolutely has to make sure it's through. A total joke last night of a base running display. Welcome back. It is the midday show broadcasting at the rally in Rourersford.
I'm a Gerricks pop and grill in Rourersford. Come on out with us. Hang out, have lunch. Ray Didden will be live with us here from 12 to one excited. Have Ray on as we get ready to kick off another NFL season tonight with A.G. Brown, who I'll be fully rooting against. And of course, the Eagles on Sunday. We'll get back to the Eagles talk you and whether or not they're locked in the middle of the night. It's been a couple of minutes. But let's attack that. What happened last night? We were at the game. Yes. Here we went. Your ears are still ringing from the kids. The kids shout out to little girls. I don't know who they were, but they were screaming at the top of the air. They should have been screaming in the bottom of the seventh and the bottom of the night. At the Phillies. Because that base running, you know, the Phillies, it's interesting. It doesn't almost ever matter how good they play when they're hot because they've lost the benefit of the doubt around here when it comes to. Will they come through in the biggest moments? Will they finally get over the hump? And nights like last night or why I think they've lost the benefit of the doubt to so many people. Because they just don't play a smart brand of baseball. Those base running mistakes. And I want to give them credit. And I felt it's sitting there last night. They fought back. Yes they did. I mean, that game was dead early when painter got hit around.
Right? So you're like, all right. It's a loss tonight. A little slow in these flat off after the brave series. Okay. We'll just chalk it up. But they fought back. And I wanted to be like, wow, this could be a great win. But then those base running mistakes. We didn't play the boom one. I don't know what he's doing with the line drive off from Marchesbat in the seventh. Okay. Whatever. He leased he scored. The March mistake in the seventh is just completely ridiculous. That is, that is, that's middle school. You know, 10 year old little league level baseball. The balls in front of you in a line drive. You either freeze or you take a step back. You don't start running. It's crazy. Got doubled off by that much. And then to make matters worse, you they come back off a hater in the ninth. You think, oh, there's no way they're going to hit haters. Haters awesome. They come back and they hit him. And then Mundo, so listen to this one. Social crushes want to write and decides to admire it. Let's hear it in the ninth inning. So, so he did was watching it off the bat. And we could barely see but Cam Smith went leaping for it. The ball hit right at the top of the digital signage,
which is really difficult for us to see the ball at all in there. And that's why you run out of the box. If he runs out of the box, he's probably a third base. Yeah. I don't even think it's probably. I think he's standing on third base with an easy triple. He's definitely almost there. Oh my god. Because he said it was crazy because he sat there, right? And he looked, he admired it. Yep. Then he kind of did a light jog. Then he started running, tripped over second base. Yeah. You know, the unfortunate thing about that is that whole sequence, right? Because we were there. And the party got started. I got to say when when Trey Turner hit that Homer, and we were sitting there and I said, he'd like to go, yeah, yeah. You just wanted to tell everyone. I did. I did because I had these moments that you're just clear that you guys did not want to share with the people. You know what? You do deserve that one. Because you called that idea right off. You're right. You called it. It's just, it's not really your main to this conversation. It's not, it's not your main conversation. It is your main. It's not. But if you allow me to speak, go ahead. Go ahead.
Go ahead. No, because that was when, because they were down like five, no, who was it? Crawford got the first one, right? Yeah. So they were down like five, one. And that, that's when the party started to get started. Right. And it's unfortunate that you fight your way back into a game like that. And you allow base running blunders to, to, to cost you that game. And you know, you're talking about that social moment. And what world are you in a position, right? When you fight back like that to admire your home run? Well, he thought he had a home run. No, I know, I know you thought you had it. And it's unacceptable. I know you thought you hit it. But, but what, like again, I ask, what makes you feel like you're in a position to admire your home run when you're scrapping and clawing? Like you, you would have been, you would have been like a half a game up on the, what was it, a half a game? Because the, the braves lost last. Well, they were picked up a game. Yeah, that's what I meant. That they would have picked up a game. So yeah, you would have been in a better position if you would have just stayed in, stay where your feet were. Also, that's the point that I was trying to make. Stay where you feed are.
I mean, I think the Cubs lost last night. And look, I think the division is probably not going to happen anyway, but that, that Cubs, you know, home field in the wild card, literally might come down to one game. And if they're, they lose it by a game, we could clearly point back to last night because that's just crazy. Let's hear Don maddenly after the game talking about the base running. I was watching the ball. So I didn't see if he was going full speed all the way. I was a little surprised when I looked up where he was at because usually the ball comes off that far. You know, you're thinking three there balls up in the air a little bit too. So again, I didn't see it, but I was thinking I was wondering why he really wasn't as far as he should have been. Well, you all were done. That's a nice way. That's the nice way you said. Like, because you don't want to kill the guy, but at the same time, you're kind of wondering what is going on. All right. Does he have to talk to the team today? I mean, what are you going to say? What are you going to say? It's unacceptable. What happened last night? I just wanted to talk to him about the head. No, no, no, but what I'm saying is, okay, you can have that meeting, but that was stupid.
Like, you didn't know that was stupid. No, but they've been doing it for years. I hear you. They have been one of the dumbest based running teams in baseball for a long time. I mean, it's led by Harper, right? I mean, Harper didn't do anything wrong last night, but he's been that guy that just runs the bases like he's half drunk. So they all do. And it has to change you. In the playoffs, the margin is so thin, right? If you have a moment, you have a moment like last night, you could be out of the postseason. And I just feel like, top or always let it go. Maddenly has an opportunity today. And I'm not saying flip a table over. This isn't 1980. It's not Dallas Green. I get it. It's a different time. But don't you have to say some colleges brought up. They had that meeting about their approach. And it seemed to work for a little bit. Maybe we got to have a meeting today about, hey, we're close guys. We're close to October. Yeah, but we cannot have these moments. But again, Joe, in that, that was stupid. The base running was stupid. What do you say to grow me in that moment that they shouldn't already know? Well, but I don't know, but he didn't know. Didn't weren't we all like, wow, like all it took was for them to remind them to have a play at the play.
No, I get what you said. I get what they shouldn't have to be told that either. But I get what you say. I get what you're saying, Kyle. But, but my thing is this, when you, when you're a man, well, I'm assuming when you're a man, when you're a man, and you know the position that you're in it, and you've been playing some pretty decent baseball up into this point. What else is there to say? Like, like, the proof is right there right in front of you. Man, I suggest this. What if the next time it happens, he takes the guy off to add the game. Like, Marsh. Is the Marsh one? No, I think you do things like that. Or maybe, maybe, maybe, so, it's better example. That's the character in the post. No, but what about taking him off the field? Yeah. But that's what I'm saying, fellas. It's like, I hear, I'm not disagreeing with the way that you feel, how you're feeling. But they're grown as men, and you're scrapping and fighting, like, you're fighting for a playoff spot, and you're fighting for positioning in the playoffs, right? That was stupid. The base running was stupid. The Cadillac, like, to admire your home run, that was stupid. Yeah.
And all you had to do, I would think that in a moment like that, you just look at him and be like, hey. Don't let it happen again. Well, all right. So, I guess, hear me out here. Because it seems pretty apparent that this team, like, they kind of hit rock bottom in a certain aspect. Now, earlier, it was like every aspect. They fired the manager. They got the kick in the ass. They started buttoning it up a little bit. They played a little better for, you know, a good month. Sort of a similar thing with the batting. Offense hit rock bottom. They had a meeting about the plate discipline. For a month. Bats looked pretty damn good. Yeah, maybe do it again. But maybe this is the type of team that just needs a little kick in the ass every now and then. And to me, if that's the case, then they don't deserve to go to the world series. Well, you know, maybe. Like, if that's the case. But isn't it worth trying? Yeah. Listen to what I'm saying. When you talk about the last few years in the history of this squad and how they've looked down the stretch, we're down the stretch. We only got like, what? Two weeks. Like, two weeks left.
Two weeks left. 17 games. And you're making those kind of mistakes. Come on, man. No, I hear what you're saying. I'm not, I'm not disputing what you're talking about. But we're too late in the game. For me to be telling you. Or telling a grown ass man, hey, you know, make sure you see, make sure the ball is clear before you take off. Let me ask you this. Let me ask you this. Maybe is it not maddeningly? Is this a shwerber thing? Like, let me go to you when you play. Like, if you guys, you didn't do it and you were a really good team. And I didn't think mental mistakes was why you guys didn't get over the hump. But you didn't. But here, like, if you guys were doing stuff like this, if you could jump off sides, you know, something similar akin to what happened last night. Would it be Andy or would it be someone like Doc, like, or Trap? Like, who would be the one to say, hey, we got it. We got to clean this up. Oh, yeah, Doc, like in that moment, that would be a doc. So it should be a trope thing. Should it be shwerber. I mean, the equivalent would be shwerber on this team. Does he have to close the doors and say enough? Well, like, we're this close. No, I hear you, but I feel like this late in the game.
Number one, you should, you should feel bad about your performance from last night anyway. Well, I'm sure they do. Number two, like, come on, dog. Like, the only thing I was saying was like, come on, dog. We're too late in the game to do these kind of, have these kind of shenanigans. Well, the, here's the part that is frustrating. This is why people don't give them the benefit of the doubt. We don't, when we talk about them, we talk about them more for the, like, think about the last three or four days. What we're, we've harped on and I think people are thinking about the seven straight fastballs to Akunya. And then last night, right, the base running more than, hey, you know, the top four in the rotation are dominating right now. Hey, they came back last night on the Astros and almost won that game. That's, it's their fault. They're the reason we feel this way. 215, 592, 94, 94. All right, we got a lot to discuss here. You take on the fillies that base running. I think, maddeningly, and or Schwarber needs to say some today. I don't think they could just let this go because it's just, it's a, what happened last night was ridiculous
way to lose a baseball game. The Eagles, are they a lot to make the playoffs? We'll check in on our poll question. And we got to get to some recent quarterback news in the NFL, two different quarterbacks, two different approaches. Which one, if possible, would Jalen Hart's take it that was available? We'll hit that next. 215, 592, 94, 94 broadcasting at the rally in Roersford at McGurks pop and grill. In Roersford, coming soon, is a brand new McGurks in why I'm missing. Lots of discuss coming on. Hang out with us. Midday show on sports radio, 94, WI-Ping. Hey, everybody. It's tailgate season. And by now, you know my favorite thing to bring to any tailgate is about a Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey. I go with the honey. I can go with the fire apple or the new blackberry. You can spice up your tailgate with one of the Jack Daniels flavors. Jack Daniels honey is the one I like to go to most time. It has that real sweetness. But sometimes missing fire at the tailgate works just as well. But if you don't want to do any of those, you can do the Jack Daniels apple. It's perfect for the fall season. And finally, the blackberry. That's my new favorite.
The Tennessee blackberry brings a unique blackberry flavor. Paired with Jack Daniels and together they create a smooth sweet taste. That's perfect for any tailgate. The Jack Daniels old number seven is always a good go to. And all those flavors are on sale. And there are 50 military bottles at your fine wine and good spare stores throughout September. So stop here and then stock up for the week of the football season. Week one of the football season I should say. Get tailgate ready with Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey. Celebrate responsibly. Welcome back. Midday show. Hugh Douglas shows you a broadcasting at the rally and Reuters Ford at McGurks Pupp and Grill. Inwards for the best seat on Sunday. It's right here at McGurks. It's your mineral lights for less than four bucks. NFL Sunday ticket plus. Check out their calendar for pop-ups shops and tailgate tastings for the ultimate game day atmosphere. Make it McGurks great food and drink specials here including the locker room punts. That's the Hugh Douglas drink from here. Yeah, we made that last year gave it the name. Lockable punts. The Jack blackberry fresh blackberry fresh life. Yeah. So come on out and hang out with us today.
We're here of course till two after the show takes over after us. Lots of discussion. The Eagles are locked to make the playoffs and the Phillies base running. Plus I'm rooting clearly against age eight tonight. Hugh Douglas rooting for chaos. Chaos. Which is a joke. We need age eight to fail tonight. All right, before we, we're going to get to something here that really caught my attention in the NFL. Two different quarterbacks making two different decisions first. Let's go to the phone lines. Jeff in Wilmington is up on WIP. Good morning, Jeff. The rally at Reuters Ford and Joe is talking about the Eagles not making the playoffs. Well, I'm saying they're not a lock. They're not a lock. What do you want to do? Come on here and lie. I'm saying 15 wins. No doubt about it. Hey, the reality of what you just said is like, it's like, yeah, when you put it, when you put it that way. Yeah, it is great. Hey, rally. Hey, rally. We're the show. Yeah. I'm being me, Jeff. You know that. I know, I know that. I want to mention, talk about a Phillies for real quick on the Eagles.
So what's arguably the best defense in the league? At least in the NFC. Healthy offensive line. We obviously don't know how the offense is going to work well yet. I don't see why there's any reason they I can't see them not making playoffs. Like that would be tragic if they did. It would have to be a lot of injuries to call us them to not. Yes, Dallas is going to be better, but there's still the cowboys. They've won four playoff games in 30 years. Well, that's true. And look, I think there's a difference between the cowboys being a threat in the division for the season, versus the cowboys going to the suit. I don't think the cowboys are going to the soup ball, right? Like they do. They could be a bump in the road. Yeah, they're kind of an annoyance in this season for us. Yeah, and there's not been any like negative stuff come out of out of Dallas. So that means that they probably had a pretty decent camp. I'm guessing so that's a little bit worrisome, but now I don't I don't see you as not making playoffs. I don't bet, but I would never bet against that.
You know what I'm saying? Yeah, and yeah, I think I think few people would. It's just the lock thing to me is interesting because I feel like every August, September, Jeff for the past probably four or five years, we haven't even thought about it. We just know they're in the playoffs. Right. This is the first time in a while. It's like, I don't know. I mean, that probably, but it just feels like the NFC is better. Right? There's definitely better. There's a lot of good, you know, teams in the North in the West. So like once, well, if we factor in the Cowboys as a threat, like if we lost the division, all of a sudden it's like, oh, you know, we're going to get a wild card. Are we going to be left out? Yeah, one of those. Yeah. Right. So with the Phillies, I kind of agree with you with it's got to be sure where to say something. It's not a maddingly thing. There's nobody else. You can't have Harper talk to the team about base running. You can't have, you know, maybe trade turn, but he's hidden 200. So he didn't have a lot of cloud. Either he's probably their fastest player, but that that played with Mars last night was the one that hurt the most because two things happen.
One, you, you get another outfit you shouldn't have and remove the guy off the base. That really killed that. What would have been a probably a decent rally and that base running just totally killed them last night. And the ball was in front of him. Like I can see if it was right behind second. And he kind of got twisted around. I mean, it was a line. I was a sinking line drive, but it was a low line drive. It's crazy. There was a, who was on base when so to hit the ball with anybody on base at that point. I listened to the game. I was driving. I couldn't watch it. Yeah, I was. I can't remember anybody. There was a. Yeah, he knocked a run in. I think it was stopped. Right, so stop was a base. Well, yes, you stopped. Let the ending off with a really good at bad against Haydor. I got the single to left field. Right. That's true. Yeah. Yeah, so I mean, yeah, he catalact that one. Probably he doesn't hit enough runs for me to be able to watch one. And when you're down a couple runs, you, if it's, look, it's got to be a ball like a Cunia hit the other night to be able to catalact that thing.
You know, it's funny. So that was that was he does it all the time. Like for he is. I, you know, I'm a fan of so, but he has no awareness of if he had told runs or not. He, he catalacts every fly. I mean, the one he hit in game six in World Series in 2022. The way he, I mean, he, the way he stood at home playing in Jeff Goodfonka, you would have thought that ball was out by a mile. Didn't even go out. It's got a Dennis in Mount Laura. What's up, Dennis? L.E.G. How you doing, my man? Dennis. What's up, pal? Well, last night's base running was so pathetic. I thought I was watching the, you know, a minor league game actually. It felt like it. It's crazy. And, and, you know, one of those in a game is frustrating to have multiple within three innings. It's nuts. Hey, all right, almost here. Are you ready? Just grabbing my shoes. That's what you said 10 minutes ago. I just wrapped the video call, uploading this giant file on my tablet, looking at my watch group and Nana's with the group chat, and of course, still lining up tonight's playlist on my phone.

Yeah, and you know, the announcement you said last night that three-turner that was only his second home run in a month.
Well, I went back and looked at a few numbers. And you didn't have any home runs, Harper has since all this ninth. Not many. I mean, he's been getting a lot of hits and getting on base a lot. But I don't know. I was going to say two or three. Yeah, because you look at his numbers this season. His on base is risen exponentially, but it's slugging percent. It's probably, it might be under 500. It's probably in the four somewhere. It's 333, something like that. And in this home stand, he is three for 18, batting 167. He has three hits, it's all singles. No RBI's, no home runs, no extrobase hits in this home stand. So he's showing up. Yeah, he, well, he's cooled down. I mean, Dennis, you're right. I mean, he was red hot in terms of getting on base. And you know, it was a 3536 game on base streak in the month August and a September. But he's cooled down a lot. Yeah, I mean, like there was the one. I think it was after the tray home run last night. You could tell he wanted to go. No, he wanted to go yard. Yeah, and he over swung that bat, not, not a good one.
Well, and again, you know, it's, it's the four top guys, you know, other than Schorber hitting some home runs on RBI's, it's, they're not really producing at all. Well, and if they don't, it's, yeah, it's tough. It's up to score runs. What do you think on the birds, Dennis? They lock? There are a lot only if Dylan decides to run when we need to have them run. Other than that, you know, I don't think they make it unless he just likes to do that. Well, I, Dennis, I tend to agree. I mean, I think it's the only way the offense is going to be at its best. Dennis, we've reached the phone call. It's not a lot, man. Not a locked in, right? No, I'm just saying. I mean, if you ask what's a lock, yeah, lock is a lock. A lock is a lock. I mean, it's not, it's not contingent upon whatever it's a lock is a lock. Do you think Jalen's going to run? Yeah. Okay, let me reframe that. Do I think he's going to run efficiently? Run at the run at the volume we're accustomed to or is it going to be more like last year? How many times he takes off? No, I don't think it's going to be like last year. That's not. But I think it's going to run more.
What do you mean? A little bit more than last year? I think it's going to be strategic runs, you know, like I think last year we were used to, we're accustomed to off-scheduled runs, if you will. I think it's going to be more by design a little bit, but it's not going to be a lot. You know what I mean? It's going to be to keep the defense is honest. There has to be the threat of the quarterback taking off and running. That's what I think. So Jalen's rushing, we find it here. So his first two years as a starter, 784 yards. Jalen running, last year 105 attempts, 421 yards. So his peak was 784. It dropped to 421 last year. It's a big difference. Yeah. That's a massive difference, actually. I think that, I hear what you're saying and I know what you're asking, but I think that it's important. I don't think Jalen's rushing is going to be up, but I think his passing is going to be better, if that makes sense. But I just, I wonder if he can be a great pastor without his legs.
What I mean by that is the threat of his legs. Yeah. Freezing defenders to give him open windows. I know by the end of last year, no one respected him as a runner. No, I get what you're asking. They just were like, he's not going to do it. So we're not going to defend him that way. I get what you're asking. I feel like there probably be two to three design runs a week for Jalen. Because I feel like you have to keep it honest. If you're going to, if you want your offense to evolve, you have to give, in my opinion, defense is a lot to defend. And having Jalen run every now and then, that is something that, you know, you have to gain playing for it during the course of the week. Hey, you know what, in this formation, or someone's on so he might pull the ball down and run. That's what you got to do a whole lot, but you have to have, you have to make the defense alert to certain things that could potentially happen in certain scenarios. I agree. And I think when they bootleg, it'll help if they think he'll run, right? Because then they'll freeze or, and then they get some yards where they come up and then he throws it over the head. All right.
So, I think that's a good defense. A couple of quarterback pieces of news the last couple of days that I find really interesting when it pertains to Jalen and his future and obviously a contract here. So he had two different quarterbacks taken wildly different approaches. So let's start with CJ Stroud. CJ Stroud, the young quarterback for the Texans on a team. I think kind of similar to the Eagles led by their defense, but you know, if he plays well, they could have a good defense. Great defense. And they, and they, I blank it shit now. They had it, and obviously D'Amico Ryan's leading as the coach. But Stroud is coming up to the end of his rookie deal, right? And according to ESPN, they offered him a deal in the range of 50 million per season, which now feels like the middle point of quarterbacks. That's not high anymore, right? Like we're moving past that. He's, he turned it down. He's betting on himself to become a 60 million dollar quarterback next year. So CJ Stroud not signing an incident. He said nah. He said no, opposite approach. After, at first saying he was done negotiating yesterday, Baker may feel, so nah, I'll take it. The bucks gave Baker may field three years 165. Then he get like 55, but a few five million per season.
Hugh Douglas, if you were Jalen Hertz and you had both opportunities, would you take an extension now for, let's say middle of the pack quarterback money? Or would you bet on yourself as the market rises a year from now? Maybe the market's a new deal, maybe burrow whoever, and then you can, if you play well, you could slot into upper 60s in terms of money. You're Jalen. You bet on yourself. You bet on myself. You bet on myself. Because they're in order in order to get the deal done, there has to be two parts negotiating, right? I don't feel like the Eagles, you know the history of the Eagles, they don't negotiate. Let's go on the premise. They would take the money right now. Yeah, no, I wouldn't. I wouldn't because I feel like it would be too much of a distraction. I will go out there at this point in this late in the game. I'm Jalen. I'm just playing football and I'm focusing on football and I'm focusing on being the best quarterback that I could be for the Philadelphia Eagles this year. That's what I'm focusing on because there's a lot. There's a lot of talk about or speculation about what I'm going to be in this offense.
So I want to see. I would want to see. So you would take the risk. Yeah. I mean, the good would be you dominate. You play well. You're an MVP candidate and you get 65, 70 million a year next year. But the other side of the coin exists too, right? If you don't play well, then you might not get a contract from anyone to any note. No, I think I think Jalen Jalen is going to get something. It just all depends on what that is. Well, but if he doesn't play well, he's not getting the same kind of money. Well, I mean, Kyle Murray is playing for a million bucks this year. No, I think Jalen still is going to be. He's going to make a nice little piece of cheese now. It all depends again, Joe. How much progress are you making this offense? Because I think the thing we're forgetting. I don't think it's zero, something Jalen, but he has to show improvement. Yeah. Well, he does. I mean, this is an easy one for me. If I was Jalen right now, and the Eagles offered me somewhere in the range of like, what I'm making now, because he makes about 51 million, I would take it in a heartbeat. And lock up the security of being the Eagles quarterback. I mean, isn't this good for him? No, I mean, it is.
I think it's a great spot for him. And I think that is. And his legacy continues. If he stays here for the next two or three years, they're going to win, right? That's his thing and no win games with him. And he doesn't have to worry about like, hey, what if Sean Manion has growing pains? What if this offense? What if these receivers are not great for me? And I struggle. And it's not even my fault. I mean, it would be a no brainer for me if I was Joe on hurts. And they offered me 51, 52 million a year for an extension. I would take it in a heartbeat. I would bet on myself because there's a lot of angst going into the season. There's been a lot of, if I'm Jalen, and you know, if I said that, and this is me because there is, there is a team, you know, as people telling him what's being said about it. And I'm pretty sure he's familiar with what being said about it. I would go out and had the best season I can and ball out. Yeah. And I would hold the Eagles feet to the fire because I'm petty. There is one element I feel we're missing here. The lot of this is out of his control. Like he doesn't have great weapons. Well, no, it's totally in his control, Joe. I don't think so. Why not? Why?
He's a quarterback. This is the worst group of weapons he's had before. And you know what? And that's where he needs to, he needs to pick his game up in shine. Right, but he can't, let's just play out of scenario. He can't make De Tavion Wicks catch a ball in traffic if he has drop issues. If he can't make it. If he puts the ball into the Tavion Wicks hands when he's in stride, he has a chance to make some plays. The reason the Packers dumped De Tavion Wicks is because he has dropped it. I mean, you know what, Joe, and the reason why we picked him up is because we saw something that we can might salvage. And I like Wicks. I'm not trying to knock him out. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, Jaylin can do the right things. And there's a scenario where Manian's green and not ready for this. Yeah. A scenario where the offensive blankets banged up again. A scenario where the receivers aren't great. And we, at the end of the year, Jaylin's numbers are very pedestrian. So we're looking at all types of scenarios. Well, that's why if I'm him, like, I take the deal on Arpe. Yeah, but, but you also, if you're Jaylin, you look at it like this. If they haven't offered me a deal all this time and the season is about to start,
I don't want that distraction. I understand. Well, Baker may feel, it changes my industry. Baker may feel, but Baker may feel having dealing with them for a while, Joe. Sure. And he had set up in his mind that he was getting ready to move on. And so they, they, they caved in this situation. It doesn't feel like that's the case here. Now, I understand what you're asking me. But if I'm Jaylin and the season is about to start, I'm betting on myself. Yeah. Because I feel like he feels he's going to have a good season. He's confident in that. I also with, you know, I don't know how Jaylin thinks. But I would, if I were him, I would think about it from the Tom Brady perspective. Tom Brady didn't ever push for the highest salary at the position. He stayed with a team that was great, that was well run. And he constantly took middle market deals. Yeah. And look at it and look at his legacy now as the biggest part of that obviously. But, you know, he could have easily held out or waited or bet on himself. And I don't, most of those contracts with New England were very simple. And it was like, yeah, he got paid, but it wasn't top of the market. So I don't know what Jaylin wants.
I very, I don't know what his goal is based on the end of the season in his future. Maybe he wants to be the highest pay quarter back in the league or close to it if he has a big year. But if I'm him, I'm like, you want to keep me around. I get to stay here. I can benefit from that. 215-592-94-94. It's going to will in the Northeast. Who's up on WIP? What's up, Will? Hey, I arrived almost here. Are you ready? Just grabbing my shoes. That's what you said 10 minutes ago. I just wrapped the video call, uploading this giant file on my tablet, looking at my watch group and Nana's with the group chat, and of course, still lining up tonight's playlist on my phone. All at once? Yep, story of my life. That's why I switched to T-Mobile. They have the fastest 5G network. Okay, multi-tasker. I see you. Honestly, I never imagined I could do all this at once. Hi, I'm PJ Vote, and I want to tell you about my podcast, Surch Engine. We try to make sense of the world. One question at a time. No question too big. No question too small. We will even answer your questions if you send them in. Stuff like, what happens when a cemetery goes out of business? What should we do about teens using AI to do their homework? Who buys luggage at the airport luggage store? Follow and listen to Surch Engine in partnership with Odyssey, wherever you get your podcasts. Here's a Baccholau. And his name is AJ Brown. Tell him. Tell him, well, this is man. Good morning gentlemen. Good morning. Good morning, my name. I go front, man.
What I think will happen tonight is the same thing that happened in Super Bowl. They're going to put, they're going to put the dogs on Dredmay. And they might just double-team AJ. Keep them out of the game and let whoever else going to help win the game do it. You know what I'm saying? I think that's how they're going to go in, because I know one thing. And that Super Bowl, when they put the flip side of their mouth, you couldn't get nothing going. You know what I mean? I think that's the same game plan they're going to use again tonight. I don't think you, and you know what I'm saying? I don't think, you, and who I go front, listen, I show up, man, and over there, fumbling with the playbook too, man, and not getting them calls. Are we ripping, man, you today? You say, you, you, you, you saw that, huh? What do you do? See, his fumbling with another coordinator going to drag Jalen down? Unbelievable. We're doing a scan. Unbelievable. Look, look, look, look. He just needs to stay up in the booth, man, because, because the game he called better in the booth, man, to stay off that
field, stay up in the booth, man, and I, you know what? I really do believe that this team is going to have a nice run, because listen, the team, these other teams that we face, are going to be looking at a whole different offense, a whole different formation, whole different players, you know what I mean? So they're not really going to know what they expect. All I need man to do is call good plays to drive us down the field, man. That's all he needs. That's all you need to do. All that's what he needs to do. Execution be damned. Keep it simple, you. Execution be damned. Execution be damned. I'm a stateist. I'm a stateist. And I'm a key sanitary. This is not that type of season, man. I'm trying to tell you, we've got three great runner backs, man. This is the season. Like, the main system. Chippity. They're the call from damage. Let me finish. Now, this is the season. Let him tell him. The pal, the hall, man. This ain't no season to be all. Let's just win games, bro. You know what I mean?
Because they got this is the name of the game this season. And I'm in with this. It's the where to get this down. And it got the team to do it. So just do the right place. That's it. That's all. All right, well, we appreciate it. All right, well, thanks for here. I mean, three good, right? Three great runners. That was it. Are you hurting? Who's the third? How would you describe Bullship, please, the player? He's versatile. That if you ask me, right? We love a lot of running back. Is he versatile? How about fine? Now, he can cast the ball out the backfield. He's fine. You say what kind of running back? And I gave you the script to give you the life. What level of player is he? What level of player? No, he's a serviceable player. Yeah, okay. Serviceable, fine. Yeah. We'll call to him great. Well, we'll, we'll is in the throws of the beginning of the football season. And that's, hey, we'll live your truth, dog. Don't let Joe Gillio come over here, bully like the dog. We'll live your truth. Hold on. We went from, we went from, we got the wrong running back and say, Juan over Derek Henry. So now we have three great running backs. I don't think he's all over the place.
He's all over the place. He's all over the place. Well, also, I know why you're okay with the wheelchair. He's all over the place. Because you love to hear someone saying, tank's great. Because you took him in the fifth round of a call. Yeah. You faded, you say, gone. He's round. I stand by that pick. You're bad pick. Is it? No, no, no. When I made the pick, you looked me straight and I said, hey, that's a good pick. So you lied. No, no, no, no. We want to do it. I encourage you to keep picking a bad team. I like 10. But we could win more. In the fifth round, it's, listen, it's like paying 20 bucks for, you know, a fast food meal. Just because you're hungry. Like, that's not good value. You know what, I did that. That's not normal. Maybe this is why you only bet $2.00. It was, it was, it was pretty good. That I was on the way home and I got hungry. So I bet I got, I got the fast food meal. Yeah, but see, that's not worth it. It was tasty. No, no, no, no. It served this purpose. No one said tank is good. Hey, man, that's it. Sometimes, hey, listen, let me tell you, sometimes you get, if you can't be with the one you love, you got a lot of one you would. This is how you describe food or tank picks. I'm just saying, you could take that however wish way you want to take it.
Sometimes we all can't, you know, hang out with, with tens and better sometimes. Sometimes we don't, you know, we got to catch a couple of threes out there. I'm sure someone's feelings are hurting. I think that's two and five. Never done that. Five, nine, two. Okay, the threes. Nine, four, nine, four. I put them, some things together, make a six. Yeah, well, he was supposed to be about to blow on her. Two, one, five, nine, that's not how the math works out. I brought it to burn, I brought it to burn bridges. You get your hat, yeah, you could tell Morte hat. Yeah, not yet, but the bridges I burn are definitely lighting away. Put two, three together, six. That's a daily darkness for this. I've definitely lighted away. All right, two, one, five. I'm going to put it to three, so I can't. I'm not too, 94, I'm for coming up. You're a phone call on all this. Would you bet on yourself if you were jailing her to take a mid market deal right now? If the Eagles were off for a jailing, somewhere in the range of what he makes down, and I'm him, I would take the deal. He was betting on himself. I think it was a lot to make the playoffs. The poll results, and that are really interesting. Seven, eight percent. We'll get to that coming up. AJ Brown cannot wait to root against it, and you can react to the full-use based running, which is a total joke. We're live at McGurk's The Rally and Wersford on sports radio, 94WIP.
Welcome back. It's the midday show. Broadcasting. You can't be. There you go, Hugh. Whitney Doe. Singing Hugh. If you can't be. Whitney, why don't you look? I like the Aussie Brothers version better though. Not the same thing. Not the one you will. Oh my gosh, it's awful. It's awful. Well, this is why the people came out today to the rally in Wersford, and McGurk's pop and grill. Come on and hang out with us. There are great food specials, great drinks, and a great time as we get set for the start of the NFL season tonight with the Patriots. And the Seahawks, the fan of champion Seahawks. That's only Hugh everybody. It does keep Pleyley Norman, I just like it. It's just like it being a, I like the uncomfortable feeling I get when I say it. Everybody kind of look. I'm a room for kids. Listen, man, I wrote for a good football season dog and it starts tonight and it's a, you know, it's just so happy that AJ gon' be out there tonight. And, and dog, he might ball. That's all I'm saying. Two tennis, he might go for it.
And he might go for a honey. He might go for a honey. He might go for a honey. He might go for a honey. Clap in the face to the Eagles. And I'm putting it there. Oh, he bought the clown. Yeah. Because he know, he know people watching. That's Haydnony. And he gon' be like, watch this. Yeah, okay, great. New team, who be it? He gon' be like, new team, who this? Can't wait, I can't wait for the honey moon there to blow up eventually with him. No, but it ain't gonna blow up tonight. Yeah, maybe not. But I'm still running against him. Okay, make him feet. Pretty funny for tea, they got time. They would be hilarious. They would be hilarious. Let me go ahead and throw on a tantrum on the sideline tonight. You see it, he's over and under for AJ Brown. What do you think? It's two bucks? Maybe. Hold on. Hey, God, this might be a three-bar. I feel like he might be three dollars a night. You know what it is, you're not coming in tomorrow. You know what it is, totally unfair. You know what it is, totally unfair. What's that? That I get ripped for, you know, you're in the rally and worse for it. And I propose the idea that, hey, are they in a lock to make the playoffs? Right? And we have discussion. But I got Douglas over here. Basically, we're in an AJ Brown Patriots jersey. I am not. You have. I am not. I am not. I am not.
I am not. I am not. I am not. I am not. I'm just listening. It's a joke. I'm just preparing. You're done. You're cooked. Yep. I'm just preparing y'all for the reality of what this is a good happen. You try to prepare for what Fragy is saying for four months. You're AJ Brown leader is broken. I'm not prepared. You're saying what might happen to that all I'm saying. You're AJ Brown leader has been broken for months. Let's go to James. Who's up on WIP? Good morning, James. 2D best looking. Joe. James. James. Where you in, were you in Hughes, Edibles or something? No. Like, for the life of me, let me ask you a question. Why do you have so much faith in Sean Manion who's done nothing? I'm a woman man. You're the face comment. I am a man. Why? Why? Joe, he's been going. But hold on. Let's take a deep breath here. Where did I express a ton of faith in Manion today? Where is his conversation? No, I'm not talking about today because you said something.
You said something. It's not really about expressing it. But you just keep saying, like, your question is the Eagles are lots for the playoffs. Name seven better teams. Name 17 that's better than the Eagles in NFC. Well, I don't know if there are, but I do know this. They're not, they are in the mix with seven other teams. The idea that they're so far above, I don't think that anymore. I think it is a race between them and seven other teams. So someone's going to miss. That's good. Okay, so, okay, so base offer. But you can only base off the information you already have. So if you base off the information you already have, the Eagles is a lot. No, they're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. They're not. It's the projection. Right. So, it's a projection. That's just a pain in everybody got one. Right. No, that's what it's based on something. Right. There's a reason. The Cardinals over on others, three and a half. It's based on the talent on the roster.
Right? Okay. So, let's let's talk about this. 11 and 6, 14 and 3. 11 and 6. Yeah. So who would be a lot to go to the playoffs? More than the Eagles in the NSC? Well, the Rams, James. With the Rams. The Rams. Why? Why the Rams? Why the right there are the best roster in football the best roster in football on paper on paper but James that's all we have How dare it and they didn't win the Super Bowl, but they were better than the Eagles last year James But they didn't win the Super Bowl. I know that so the sea hawks did right we know that So who's the best team in NFL the sea hawks right no, I think it's the Rams this year Why is it the Rams different they haven't played a game yet To Nobody's nobody's played a game. He said on paper James. Did you see what they added this off season? And I don't know am I the only one? Okay, let's talk about that. Let me ask your question They got Aaron Dino and they got Miles Garrett right now, right and Trent McDuffie
Very very minor additions Him too It's been all three of those players Achilles Hill The ego Aaron Dino couldn't do nothing against us My Garrett couldn't mess with Lane Johnson and Duffy wasn't doing nothing against our receiving court Camping Sireoni Tom James The lips and Sireoni got this the winning his coaching in the NFL right now the numbers don't lie Want a lot of We want wins right When did Sireoni jump above Andy Reed? What are we talking about winning? He might have the best winning percentage maybe he said in the NSC Yeah over the last five years he's the most he's the best coach in the NFL in winning that's all I've had We need more than every time okay I'm trying to put this My discreet change I know you have to say is
You have to say is you think they're a lock and then I say okay James that sounds good James you are wild I love your phone call I'm pretty level how do you get in you Edible and then you start to be I get in a verly drag No, he say you were the level head Come to work high, which I'll talk about I love how paint you is the level head of one of the show I'm trying to I'm trying to get this probably so so listen I'm not signing off at any AJ Brown overs You are a man on an island damn Joe you You really be really mean with this one It really me Listen listen listen listen I guess I got the Patriots for the win right no I got the AJ Brown anytime touchdown And I got remand raised Stevenson over 55 yards 55 in head. I need one more. I need one more leg
Well, yeah, cuz I'm I'm being this the first this the first better season. I'm being conservative. Oh, what was an alternate line We saw my he said isn't Trevon Henderson the other running back injured No, that's what I think so that's why we were very mon my run Miss Ramon Drey yeah I like how Why don't you put your money around this and take AJ's catches over his yards over that's that's the next one okay I mean you're the basically wave an AJ pump on it. Oh, it ain't gonna ball out the night I'm just getting y'all ready for it. We gonna come to work tomorrow. Everybody gonna have a pool face. You know You know what you said stuff for everyone. I told you so Douglas tomorrow. No, I'm not that's gonna be Atrocious. Oh, AJ Brown 15 plus yards first quarter. All receiving. Hey, that sounds like a good one Since you don't want to help me put together See Hawks defense last year you sure about all this listen. It's the first game of the season. Hope's crazy. Turn them I don't know who's hoping for AJ to do well. I am I knew it see him for my I knew it for my pride. I knew it
No, you know, I know he's gonna say let me tell you what's going then okay I'm not hoping he played well. Let me pull that back. You said it. I think we have the I have a sneaky suspicion That he is going to play well. I just I just feel it in my gut Yeah, and you might be right just like let yes, the last week I ain't put this one out there when I was talking I can we were talking about the Georgia Tech Colorado game. Are you doing it? I tried just so with you didn't put on the air I'm just saying this guy. I remember I remember talking like it. I was our Georgia Tech go drag Colorado one I'm just saying I ain't I'm going with my gut Going my gut on this anymore. I told you so before we I got I got way better. I got I told you so he didn't know that was coming over now. He probably just clip when he said he's Refrigerate please I'm going to do well tonight because I'm about to put this money on it. There it is I'm going to put this money on the 100 over 100 yards tonight. He's gonna get over 100 in the face All right, 215 592 94 90 for that's how you happen.
