but we do have a quote coming out of Nashville coming out of Tennessee coming out of Titans locker room that I think is worth talking about here. Hugh Douglas, your thoughts on this and I wonder if you think this is, you know, if this annoys you that was said about Jail and Hertz quote yesterday from Jeffrey Simmons, the star defense attacker from the Titans, Ross Tucker mentioned him with us the other day. He said he's the best defense tackle in profile. And yesterday in the locker room when asked about this matchup against the Eagles offense, here is what Jeffrey Simmons said about Jail and Hertz quote, we just need to make Jail and Hertz be a quarterback, stop his runs, make sure he doesn't get out of the pocket and make plays. Hugh, your take on what Jeffrey Simmons said about Jail and I mean, good luck with that. That's what makes Jail and, you know, dynamic, what makes him special is the fact that he can make those off schedule plays and get outside of pocket and make plays with his legs and things of that nature. I don't think what he said was disrespectful. I, you know, watching TV and, you know, everybody's making it seem like it's egregious. I mean, look who his coach is. Robert Salah. That's the first thing I thought of. You know what I mean? And that's the way they play Jail and now I will say this with that being said and I
alluded to it earlier, now you know the game plan. They're probably going to play a lot of zone, do a lot of stun up front. Defensive areas are going to play up the field and try to keep Jail and Hertz in the pocket and make him beat you from the pocket. That's a patient game to play. You know, show him different things and then just drop back in coverage, kind of like the San Francisco 49ers game. Now I will say this about Coach Manion and Jail. It's going to be telling to see how it looks Sunday, you know, and that's not a, you know, I'm not trying to be foreboding anything like that. But we saw last year when coach Patulo was in that situation and how this team looked, they have to take an incremental jump this week. They have to. It can't be stagnant, especially against a team that got beat by the New York Jets. So there's going to be a lot of people watching it. This game is going to be under the microscope. So I thought the same exact thing you did, the Jeffrey Simmons was the mouthpiece for it, but this came from Robert Salah. Robert Salah is the one who's telling Jeffrey Simmons and all of the Titans defenders.
This is how we're going to play Jail and Hertz and there is a reason where this is coming from. Robert Salah has had a lot of success against Jail and Hertz. I don't think Salah is a very good head coach, but Jail and Hertz has played his defense as twice and Jail and Hertz hasn't played well either time. They lost in 2023 to a bad Jets team up at MetLife. I think Jail and through three picks that day. And then last year, of course, the playoff game when the Niners came in here with his zombie defense and they held him to 19 points and you look at the stat lines. It's not good either game. So obviously, Salah feels like he's got a beat on how to defend Jail and he's telling his team that now that Simmons have to go to the media and say that, I don't know, I'm probably not just wise thing for him to do, but I don't think it was disrespectful. I think he's just parroting exactly what Robert Salah said. In fact, we've heard this quote before. Yeah. After the season about the Eagles issues last year, right? It was written by Michael Silver in the athletic and one of the quotes in there from a 49ers defensive assistant. This was last January after the Niners and Robert Salah came in here and won the game. The quote was, we were going to make Hertz play quarterback. It's the same exact thing Jeffrey Simmons said yesterday.
So I'm not surprised. I mean, I can little surprise it came out that Simmons would just offer it yesterday. And while you playing, it was said by the time they bucking the ears, the one time that Jail and sliced them up. I'm sure it's said by a lot of coaches that are looking like that. How did the Fendigos off exactly? So I don't think it's disrespectful. I mean, and now it's up to Jail and to go beat them. Well, so everyone's going to cry about it. Be up and arms about it because they're because he's being mean to Jail and but like, is this is this any different than say you were talking about how do you beat Brock Party? Well, get them off schedule or something or like, you know, try to disrupt this time for Jared Goff or or makes make Matthew Stafford have to run out of the pocket. Like, you know what I mean? Like every quarterback has flaws. Like, there's deficiencies in someone's game. There's something that you can do to disrupt that offense. This is the one that defensive coordinators pick for us. Like, it's okay. So what Jail wants to do is say, okay, and then go out there and beat them with his arm. Yeah. And I'm sure there's a lot of people sitting there listening or driving or whatever and feeling like, well, Jail wants to play in a lot of great throws. It's just a quarterback, right? Just in the pocket. And that's true.
But the way I think of it is these defensive coaches think he doesn't do it consistently. Like, yeah, he might do it once. But it's like if you have a shooter in the NBA that is a good or solid shooter, but maybe he's not a great shooter. You're not going to put extra people on him. You're going to make him beat you, right? We see this all the time in the NBA playoffs. Teams will pick a player and say, well, we'll give him the open shot. We'll double the other guy and make him beat us. So that's what Robert Salas tried to do twice. He's been successful against the Eagles doing it. Now, he's got a pretty crappy team. And so the Eagles should be able to win this game even if Robert Salas ideas, right? But I don't think this is disrespectful. In fact, as soon as Simmons said, I was like, I've heard this before. And then I remember the quote last year, this is coming from Salas. Salas, Breaston was team, make J on her, it's played quarterback 215, 592, 94 Donnie. For the final disrespect, full N is a win. Still a win here for a win. That's not a retire. It's just time to retire this the line. Are we going to do this next week? Look, we all be honest with ourselves. Are we going to do this next week? Oh, win is a win. Okay, ask me. Are we going to do this next week? Well, I mean, if it's a close game, are you going to win as a win us?
Initially, I am. You know what? Shut up. Oh, hang on to me, friends. Fire, you, fire, you, fire. I'm going to be honest about what I see. But yes, if you're asking me today, if they win in this ugly, I'm going to take the up. I guess the part that I struggle to wrap my mind around is we know that this is not how teams win the football have the regular seasons. Not arguing that. Then why do we think the Eagles are different? Like, we should we want them to look like superbolts. No, we don't. I, okay, I'm going to tell you from my perspective. Yeah. I don't think the Eagles are different. And I'm not trying to hold them to a higher, a different standard because of the quarterback. But what I am trying to do is be fair and balanced in my assessment because this is a new offense. And the quarterback is learning a new system and he's trying to relearn some, some new habits, right? Yeah. So last week to your point, and we talked about it and reassert it. There was some play action, no, motion, I should say not play action, but motion.
There was motion, not as much as we would like, but it's a start. Now going into this week, and we also talked about the fact that we kind of reverted to what he was familiar with. That was probably out of necessity, given the fact that now we know what was going on with the offensive line and things of that nature. So given all of that knowledge, now we got a new guy in there. And you can't be stagnant in the NFL. So going into it, if the offense looks a little bit better than they did the week before, right? And you win, but it's a ugly win. Yes, I'm going to take the win, but I'm going to also sit here and say that we didn't take the incremental jump. We didn't jump like I thought we should have. And that's where you come in at. But at the end of the day, the Eagles are 2 and 0 and they have another opportunity against a better team to have a better showing. Yeah, it's interesting. You brought up jail in there. I don't think the final score is all jailing. He's a piece of the puzzle. But to me, this is about the Eagles. No, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, when I say Jalen, it's not like I'm putting it
all on him, but let's be honest. If whatever happens with this team, a lot of the conversation is going to be about how well or how bad the quarterback play. I know. I think that's our insecurity. We make everything about it. No, but everything is, Joe, because like, listen, when you win, we all thought he played pretty well last week, the only one by two. Yeah, but he's one piece. But what all that being said, what are that being said and the fact that now that we know that Lane Johnson was banged up and that had the potential to lay, well, I say Lane, Lane Dickerson, I'm sorry, Lane Dickerson, I'm sorry. We all know Jordan, my lot of Dickerson. Yes. But we all know how that has the propensity to make things worse. We still talking about the quarterback in the way that he played. Yeah. Well, that's just, that's just the reality of it. That's what happened. That's all the way to the point where it was, I mean, I don't know, but the way that I was sitting at the table, I was like, I don't know, I'm like, I'm going to be like, what's going on. I'm going to get out the growth of the quarterback, even though having office alignment out there on one leg, trying to play probably derailed a lot of the stuff that they want to do,
but we're still talking about the quarterback. I mean, it's all part of it. It's all part of the whole picture. Let's go to Brian and bronze with Kuzup. Hey, Brian. record and you know he can disparage because those were his words you the sparrows jalen but as a head coach he's terrible right here the other thing is you guys ask the question about would you rather win and ugly win and so forth i think it depends on the time here for example early in the season i would almost rather lose and play really well against a very good team then barely when against a bad team now later in the season is different but i think if you play in well you're gonna win most of the games that you have coming up and that's how i look at it and i think i would give them a big a c plus performance overall yeah bright i tend to agree with the way you frame it it's it's almost like you were looking to see how this what this thing really is right it or is the way we're playing is the talent we have is the the the product sustainable like in this continue and bright to the three i guess three years ago now twenty twenty three was to me was the ultimate the record lies sometimes i mean they were ten and one winning by and but winning by the razor sharp edge every week and then the bottom fell out on the unfortunately
right exactly frankly again at the pens on that you know when this happens on the words you said which are rather win ugly in the playoffs i'd say downright yes right but at that at this point you want to make sure you guys stay healthy and you're executing and frankly you know it was kind of like okay but you're not going to beat the forty nine percent frankly i saw the giants game i don't know whether it was a bad Dallas defense or a good giant offense but they look like after twelve years of being the dorm at they might actually be competitive i thought that you i think we've won this hard as i don't know which one is real but you're you could be right right i mean i i walked away wondering am i wrong maybe dallis is not any good and and then i also thought to myself a brain gulf on come maybe the giants are pretty good we'll find out i'm as time goes on here but i just whoever it is Dallas giants like lions care bears rams niners whatever i mean i whatever the teams could be that comes out of the season that looks good to get to the super bowl you need to have a lot of weeks during the regular season where you you beat the crap out of teams and i i don't think that's too much to ask to one five five nine to ninety four ninety four that's a hot board all we got a lot to talk
about here we're gonna let you hear what you on her set about Jeffrey Simmons and about Robert Salah yesterday that he returned fire now he he spoke before that Jeffrey Simmons did but you're gonna hear what you on her set and Jordan my lot of he did address what Jeffrey Simmons said about you on her she'll hear that coming up next your phone calls is a win is a win still the way you feel or you went to the time to retire that and do you is it bother you with Jeffrey Simmons that about you on her set to make him play quarterback to beat him on Sunday your phone calls on a lot to discuss today it is the midday show sports radio ninety four w i p football seasons back and it's time to bring that game day energy home whether at the game or cheer for your living room make sure your home is ready for the season with Pella windows to do is get performance style and comfort plus incredible savings with 55% off installation or 48 months 0% apier while the home team is making big plays in the field make a big play for your home with Pella call 877 98 Pella to sketch your freedom of consultation or Pella Philly dot com welcome back midday show you Douglas Joe Jillian you guys
with us 215 592 94 94 go to the phone lines and then we got to get to a couple things here one what Joe and her set about Robert Salan Jeffrey Simmons the mail who Hey I got some mail you get a lot of mail I've never actually seen anyone as much mail to you got to mean I try to answer people sending a lot of jets car funny a lot of jets cards he gets you can't get up my mail I'm not open your mail all right let's get back to the phone lines here and then we're gonna hear from jail in hearts and Jordan my lot I would an impassioned plea as he's pretty annoyed at the Jeffrey Simmons thing your take on it was it disrespectful to jail in hearts and just in general are you ready to retire to win his win I am but let's just we can grow up with the win as a win thing this team's supposed to compete for a suit ball they teams that could be for suit balls generally win by margin in the regga of the season not a bunch of two point wins over the commanders let's go to Joe and East Oakland Joe what's up hey what's up but yeah Joe what what kind of what kind of socks you got on today uh pumas white pumas oh because I was trying to figure out what tastes
is going to be like when you keep putting your foot you know how did I put my foot in my mouth brutal just just a whole premise of a win as a win it's just so it's just so moronic when you just think about it you know explain explain to me how it's moronic that that teams that would you disagree the teams that generally get to the sir bone win blow a lot of teams out and win by margin a lot during the season would you say that's not true I wouldn't I wouldn't I would generally agree with that I mean I guess I would have to do to I would have to do to research to see how the margin of victory I have it I have I have it Joe I have it for you the average budget victory in 60 Super Bowls like the teams that got there and one a man day research the teams that get there and one in the regular season outskirts their opponents by about nine to ten points per game not one not two not three not field goals per game they win about that much so that's generally how dominant dominant teams win play and win so for the reason why
that's that is due because you can have a team who might get a easier schedule right and have a greater margin of victory but doesn't always attest to the skill of that team so we when you look at the the Patriots last year everybody can agree that they had an easy schedule that they weren't as good as previous Super Bowl contending teams so when you just say okay oh I'm gonna now take away the fact that they won because of who they play and that they really didn't deserve to be here no you're saying that they got there Joe no you're saying that you're saying you're saying because of their margin of victory so if you take away if you're going to talk about margin of victory aren't you going to consider who they played or you just post a blow everybody out sure but that's but I acknowledge that that's part of it but it does it ultimately doesn't it doesn't matter whether you have a hard schedule or not it teams at the end of the year that are beating their opponents up generally are the teams that get to the Super Bowl whether and it's not really it's not really part of the
story who they played that it's true but that's the teams that get to the Super Bowl like the Patriots got to the Super Bowl last year right but so when you so even when you take that just that premise of win a win is a win that throw it out yeah so that means we're going to get certain wins based off of how many points the other team scored and how many points that we scored no everybody talks about that rant everybody talks about the the the the Jalen Carter sack against the Rams oh we we almost lost you almost lost we were winning that game easily until the last two drops of that game we were that game was when when say why I had to run away right nobody talks about how that game was not close until the very end you're right but oh because they had a last chance to win oh now we're going to the the minutes that that game or the way we play because of some conservative football I agree with you but I think you're using the wrong example I agree with you the 2024 team wasn't like that they had a different gear to them that we saw it in the Super Bowl against Kansas City we saw the title game against Washington we saw it in the
Bengals game during the season like they could put their foot down and run away from teams last year's team didn't have that gear but that's what that's the difference the 2024 team had a different gear to them that's a Super Bowl team last year's team didn't have that gear but the only thing I only think I want to say is the reason why that the win the win thing is so kind of stupid to me is because when when we won the Super Bowl against the Chiefs we blurred by this what Kyle was calling me a fool idiot all that kind of stuff because he knows I'm right doesn't sound like me at all we blew the cheap we guess that was exactly like you sir and when we blew the chiefs out everybody I was saying this thing filled the same it wasn't as it wasn't as entertaining we wasn't as as pleased with a bar win because the game wasn't as close I don't know how the game was over now I was finished the dad who said I want to say something that's the gig is up that's really fans of the two that was just a lot of complaints but he said that's not that never happened on this show no one here talked about how that game
wasn't fun I think the only thing people might have said I think the only thing people might have said was that it didn't feel the same as the 2017 that was that was a it was the first time you know from circumstance yeah but like everyone I mean I remember running out and and running right to the bar as soon as I want and being just as I was I just I don't say nobody had anything to do with the fact that it was a blowout that nothing to do with that's what you'll say the game was over earlier that doesn't mean it wasn't this one so the point is how you talked about the win dude no no you're not satisfied either way no what I don't know what you're talking about I just to me this is very simple if you keep beating teams up you have a better chance of keep beating teams up and going far teams that win by the skin of their teeth don't continue to win like that NFL history is is long now you know you every 10 or 15 years you get a team that's like they play kind of average and then they get hot and get to the football but over and over and over the history says it's been a hundred and something teams in this football now they're usually pretty darn dominant
during the regular season so I'd like more of that because that would give me faith that the Eagles will be great when the season is over let's go to Chris the middle time what's up Chris guys thanks for having me on the grease the skin's Douglas show today that's really what's happened here really is I see what you're up to we all them we all do according to the last caller because again this is the proof is in the pudding because if people are just are non-sensical of course details matter if you win games six to three a jail for us for less than a hundred yards and five touchdowns or five turnovers I'm sorry and sake one rushes for less than a yard per carry for three or four games in a row yeah you better bet somebody's getting fired somebody's getting replaced in their position so of course details matter it doesn't just matter that you want to game it's how you want to game and anybody would have said at eyes or a quarter of a brain or head
understands this and Joe I'm glad you you said this because um in 2023 was a prime example of this they won they just winning only matters all you just win they win eleven and six and then you know what happened because the details matter we went into the playoffs and the chickens came home to roost and we got dragged by Tom Brady's box and that was embarrassing so to all these goaps out there that say such as winning winning is the only thing that matters because you're jailing it fans and you're trying to cover for your quarterback we all know that don't be so scared of the results at want excellence and exceptionalism out of your guy that you want to back and you know what how he had jeffery agreed because that's why that following year in 24 they went out and hired vixen and Joe and that's why they brought in huge guy coach boober because that's what led them to win the Super Bowl changes need to be with just wasn't winning and i'm not falling for the smoke screen nonsense by these jail nights because i see what
they're up to you and and you know and and you and you i see what you're up to all of this nonsense today by you i know you're not a jailing it's all a smoke screen because you want us to forget about your comments this week about malachai your facts aimed kupert de jie you disrespect that sake wand bark when he was cooked and the draft a few weeks ago and you just want us to forget all that stuff but more importantly you want us to forget that this week we are facing a real tomato can he not like the dominant teams we face when you want to care a line and trash us this game is a game that details matter must win and you know what you give you an example you know you can't be rolling home at night bragging that you know you had a successful night at the bar you know what i mean when the next morning you had a true your arm off to get away that's really not a way is it you know what i'm saying you understand so so yeah i don't think so but you know what you i'm gonna leave you with this
because i am proud of you i'm i'm proud of you that right now you're not the the wip host that is most trending on on sports talk radio because bg lit up your boy in the afternoon soy boy but other than that you got a lot of nonsense and bluster coming out of you have a good day man oh you got to Chris you got to Chris appreciate it yeah that's that's that's crazy i mean listen bg's loud say what he want to say you know i mean that that's his guy giving right the man they want to super balls and all that good stuff but boy i mean i guess i'm old school in the sense that i mean spike kind of put him on like spike was the the reason why bg's in the space i mean you granted bg might have been in this space anyway because of the success that he's had but and i don't know and again let me let me say this too i don't know if he was playing a knock because you know bg likes to play but to leave it kind of open like that and take shots at a dude that helped you know put you in this space it's kind of crazy yeah kind of silly that minute is what it is all right let's um can we hear from johan herds talking about robert sola
and jeffrey simmins jestroy let's let's hear that fast unit uh aggressive unit and a well coach unit you know coach sola wherever he's been he's always found success he's always had his defense ready to go well coached they've got some great players on the side of the ball start starting up front with jeffrey simmins um he's a he's a force in the middle of the field so some we've got to be able to manage that's not a new for him and um you know it's a challenge it'll be a challenge every week is a challenge man it is so that press conference did happen before both jeffrey simmins and robert sola spoke yesterday i i would have expected johan to take the high road anyway man johan's never i'd be shocked if johan perts or went to a press conference and said anything but nice things about the opponent the coach i mean that's that's he's trained in the next day in school of football right he's going to compliment the opponent there but that it was interesting just to hear i mean he's right even sola's a good defensive guy not a great head coach but has some nice things to say about i don't think he said that he said he's a good
defense guy i don't think he said not a great head coach i'm saying i agree with johan he is a good defense guy he's not i'm that's me it's right it's right it was fun it was it's me saying he's not a good head coach he thinks is that um can we hear johan am i lot of though he was not as as a complimenter because he was told what jeffrey simon said about his quarterback johan hurts here is my lot of response i don't see him i don't pay attention to that stuff oh that's quick break stuff that's where you guys get paid for you guys promote that stuff i don't i don't understand it i don't think it's good he said he doesn't even say to me that's all i know because i don't listen to that stuff this is i don't care about everybody in this locker room this locker room is the only thing i'll give it down about doesn't care i don't care what you guys say about this locker room i don't care what anybody lock any other locker room says about this locker room this is not the only thing i care about and is that my focus my job was a leader on this team is to get this ship right yeah no matter silt the holes you know whatever we got to do the win games and write the ship inside this week the biggest thing is the biggest thing is just learning from that mistakes last week yeah and how we can carry that towards this game and execute this
game plan and that's what we're doing all right so i appreciate uh jordan always stands up for johan he has for years and years and he you know he's he's a good teammate uh but one quick thing on this can we just do a quick just lesson on what clickbait is that clickbait is not jeffrey simmons quote guys clickbait is if you have a headline up and it doesn't actually represent what you're actually talking about what you click into jeffrey simmons having a quote that you don't like about johan hurts is not clickbait people have decided clickbait is something they don't like no no clickbait means you're being fooled like jeffrey simmons said something and the reporter that he was chase and do moss presented it to jordan my lot of to get his opinion on that's that's clickbait would be like five that's more like fodder yeah the headlight would have been jeffrey simmons bless jillin hurts that's clickbait and then you click that and then that's what he says yes enjoyed my lot of eyes that's what it is because it's it's you're being presented with it to get you to respawn or react to it that's chasing jumas's job or anymore post job right you you know what's funny we're gonna take a quick quick crash course and and like you know job descriptions okay I know because
I had I had the luxury the hew dog of the school of flickbait well no no I have the luxury of like being on on both part on both sides of this you know I was the former professional athlete and I had to answer questions like that and kind of dodge them but now I'm a I'm a I'm a I'm a co-host and I analyze stuff and I see both sides to it we have to ask questions even if you don't want the you don't like the questions that we ask this it's a part of the job it's the job description we sit here every day and we drum up topics topics to talk about because that's our job on the flip side of that as a football player you have to be smart enough to know not to say anything that can incite any kind of bulletin board material clickbait or fodder if you will enjoy my lot of knows that and we understand that you know that but at the same time we have a job to do and if somebody says something like there's been times that I've come here working the morning and before we have a conversation Joe say hey did you hear this and I'm like no
and we discuss it because you he wants to get my reaction it's the same thing on that side you know when he asks you a question it's to give a reaction now you can be you can you have a choice in your response you could you could give him the fodder that we all know that he's looking for or you can answer in a way like hey man you know what he can say whatever he wants to say and then guess what happens after you say that just like that nothing it goes away so you know no need to you know and I know Jordan knows that and I'm not picking on Jordan but they don't need to get all been out of shape you know what I've noticed a lot of times when when we disagree on certain things right the folks that don't have nothing to say are the ones that complain the most because you ain't got no retort to what I'm saying oh you know you're just you're just click bait here you're just doing because you ain't really got no retort for you you're not smart enough to to respond to to what I'm saying so instead of you responding to it in a in a in a in a in a educational where if you will or or you know a grown-up way you just want to blast it because you don't have
a retort so that's how we operate on on a higher frid that's yeah because that's why we vibe that's why I'm I'm trying to tell you all every day dog I vibrate on a different frequency so that don't bother me you know I mean but I am here to like I feel like on a daily basis especially dealing with y'all that I'm here I couldn't hold the laughter back on a daily basis that I'm here to teach y'all as much as I can and you know sometimes I leave a job a lead class and I'm I'm perplexed I'm flabbergasted but I'm here every day that's that's one of the main reason why I retired all because I got me I got to look out for you wow I got to look out for y'all on we blind when he's self when when do you think that is a good I'm selfless but but you best leave when I do retire Kyle I'm gone I'm not coming back for no reason none none not even if I call in and you know on my pester the call screen but I ain't coming back should we take you's call yet that'd be a fun pull to pop you retire one day
he calls in he's on hold should we take you's call I think we leave unhold for like three hours not doing no podcast I'm not talking about my time here I'm just going yeah I just then close up shop let's go to Ed and Worrington hey Ed yeah how you doing good Ed what's up well a couple things first of all I'm a little shocked at you guys and a lot of the callers that are Jalen Hertz haters now I'm gonna tell you why haters and you named me 10 quarterbacks in the league right now that you would rather have on this team yeah I can then hit yeah I can you can right okay I like fit don't go slow but here's my point you know what all this kid does is freaking win and that's not good enough for anybody think back whoa decide Josh Allen who's got a gun on him and Patrick my homes you can have everybody else what have they done for their teams where's their championships
hey you know I think it gets down to you guys hating the guy's personality no and then you let him affect what you see on the field totally not true totally not true well I thought and you can have your opinion but that's totally not true Ed I mean I just would you let me ask your question do you think there are like five five or ten players at left guard you rather have the landing Dickerson right now maybe 15 or 20 would you would what would you say about that well well that's a stupid question no no no but okay put Ed has he not been at all pro play at all Ed okay let's go let's go let's go to cam jurgens Ed wow he cooked yeah he got me great okay cam jurgens would you would you rather maybe have five or ten other centers than cam jurgens in the NFL if if he's healthy not just answer yes or no yeah would you you think there's probably five or ten or 15 better centers than the version we're getting a cam jurgens maybe five maybe five yeah but the point is you you'd probably rather have a better player if you think they're a
better player you didn't mention there when I said that cam jurgens won the superball did you well what do you say I mean he was grading a superball right but right but you acknowledge that if there's an upgrade you would take it in the vacuum because that's how you think about football players like is this guy good it's this guy better yeah but yeah but that's the way I view football Ed it's not about the team wins the team wins that's the way I view football not one player so if you you I mean I didn't come on here today and say guys I'd rather 15 better quarterbacks and she won't hurt you asked me the question I answered honestly I said yeah I'd rather have 10 probably 10 or so guys better so like but you get upset and you you I totally okay that's fine right but I know but just like you are sure but you accuse me of not liking him personally because I'm giving you a football you hold on you said I don't hold on Ed hold on you said hold on hold on you said I don't like his personality so that's why I say that what I'm saying is we're having the
same conversation you acknowledge you'd rather probably have a few other centers and cam jurgens because of his play you asked me a question what you did you ask me a question you asked me a question and I answered it because of his play Ed this isn't hard like I don't understand why we have to do this every time we can't have grown up conversations because we get in our feelings johan hurts seems like an awesome guy he just donated $600,000 in air conditioning to northeast high he seems like a wonderful guy I have nothing against him as a person seems awesome and he's been a really good eagle but when you ask me a question and I give you an honest answer and then you say well because you don't like his personality no I like players that are better than him it's not hard Ed that's it okay but let me ask can I say what I need to say yes though I think you're taking this rather personal I came in but did you hear me say your name I didn't say your name but you did say a lot of things out there did you call him to talk to Joe I think you're the one who's taking
this shit personal and I'm not adding and I'm not buying it for a second give me him every day in a week okay just just don't curse on the air if Ed is a win a win still or you want to retire is a win a win I'm just cursed again that's you know what can't be grown up apparently I think Ed is a win is a win guy do you agree I love I tried to tell me that he's like that wasn't a big deal I said thanks yeah right you he gets to tell me what what what's FCC compliant I just I just don't I just I think you're right about that this win is a win thing is because of jail and I mean I gel wasn't the subject of the conversation it's told you told you and we brought up the the Simmons thing which is it's own thing but like the idea of I want to retire a win is a win has nothing to do with Jalen Hertz guys it's about the team why are we on why is everyone about Hertz again because this week I mean I I know you didn't say it was about Jalen but I think people are correlating
that to Jalen because of the conversation that have been had or because I mean no but the little realist the conversation has been because it's been it's been it's been hey he played good but you know and it's been kind of that all week you know it's it's almost been like a a backhand accompaniment and you know at the end of the day do the Eagles need to play better yes yeah the Eagles just Jalen need to play better yes but we talk like we talk about Jalen so much Joe that for a lot of people if they're getting in the car and they listen to half of it they automatically assume that that's what it's about well because that's a them problem I mean like the yeah the jail and insecurity is mind boggling if you think he's as good as you think he is then who do you why do you care what anyone says like if if he's really that good like then just deal with it I am here to teach you know you're not teaching anything all right you Douglas needs to apologize to Cooper Dijín we'll get to that at 12 o'clock your phone calls 215 592 94 Jalen Hertz
welcome back midday show hey Hugh Douglas Joe Jaleo at noon we will see if he's ready to apologize for the Cooper Dijín slander we'll get to that and really interesting stuff out there about Jalen Carter and the game he had as people are more diving into the film this week so we'll a lot talk but and I have a thought on the Phillips lineup and what they should do is we get closer to October magic number down to six I got an angry text from Jack Fritz I misspoke I said yeah well not angry he was well he must have been pretty upset because he texted me too I'm called you a fraud can he he's that's the same thing can you relax it takes me yeah I think Jack like me how come I how come you doesn't get playing for they're not correcting you in the magic number why is it all my fault only time Jack is man he got I forgot what it was six the magic number six for a playoff spot is that we need he well yeah right it was seven when the Phillies one last night the Diamondbacks lost that knocked it to six so that we have did we have our magic number expert Paul Jollivates confirmed that I thought Dan Wilson's the magic number expert well jolly thinks he is okay well I'm it MLB's app is telling me six so I'm going to go off of that
rather than they confirmed it with jolly I haven't gotten it confirmed with anyone but it is six I misspoke earlier so you can relax now Jack all right let's get back to the phone lights here Frank and Galway's up what's up Frank hey Frank what's up in that much yeah I can't wait till October 20th while we can talk about a team that's going to probably come out and I hopefully have no doubts because you know this comparing and beating at that horse I go over and over and over yeah I agree with you Joe I agree with you also Kyle I mean again I've been talking about it for the last two days and two point one against the commanders I mean considering the state that they're in now if they were like you know the team of two years ago or they had you know they had everything going on still and they're just back in the day when it was a huge rivalry yeah you can sit there and put a little bit of a thought in the but there should be absolutely no moral victories here I mean the quarterback had a nice average game nothing super nothing bad didn't really prove that they're going to have any any you can't you
can't tell what they're going to be in week five or six or ten it's no idea so this is just for like whatever don't the call just said about two calls ago that people are just trying to pacify the jail nights and it's just all over the internet I mean he's like the biggest talk online I mean it's like for a quarterback who even after the first week he's ranked like 15th it's the highest all rank was 12th one one out of the 12th one out of them and if you'll have them like 15 yes be adam yes be adam like 80 I mean you're talking about this guy like he's not what the people thing is going to be like a top five quarterback like what are people expect that this guy I don't know I don't know and I think all those rankings seem fair like you know what are he's 12 or whatever 13 yes after week one yeah I thought he I thought he played well I thought I game a BB plus you game a BB I game a BB plus but as a team they got to be better I they just need that game on Sunday was okay considering the opponent it wasn't it wasn't an expression oh yeah Joe I think
I mean I saw the yards I forget what it was but they gave up a lot of yards last year and they had again I've talked about it yesterday they have a new coordinator himself on defense so Jela went up answer new defense of coordinator with a bad team at home and you win by two and basically the the play of the game was the stop at the end of the game I mean you just said they had a nice run yeah I got to put a quantum cruise ship through that line you know I mean but like for that but like you know yeah he he ran when he had a run with the hand you know I mean he made a couple nice throws the Montenegro awesome catch I mean that catch on a sideline he's all about he's got great hands and great forward I mean I don't know if there's anyone better than Lee you know catching that ball but you know like it's just over at the top I mean I can't wait to like week seven or eight to see how far advanced this offense might really be and yeah does you move it into like a top ten quarterback or seven but the running game has to be there if the running games not there they're not going nowhere and and one more thing guys four ago I mean it is
almost you know me it's almost six or time and I you know they're open up against the New York mix and it's another thing so with look at like this and the sixers would come out and and and and lose to the next by 25 points so we're going to start and say the seasons are over like there's too much to analyze the game one that's my point yeah it happens it happens and that's a long season yeah and and what I mean Frank would call it reminded me of I think Frank started calling us when he called the sixers were going to beat the Celtics and I told him he was crazy and then they actually did that um it's he the point he was trying to make on the commanders he's right the commanders last year we'll see what they are when this season ends they were dead last in the NFL last year in your it's a lot probably a bad defense yeah yeah I just you know what Frank is right yeah yeah he got he just I just find it laughable that you know he tries to hurt itself to make the point and he just start rambling about it and then he just talked about the the season is it over if the sixers lose to the to the next but now he can't wait to week five but that's cool I mean Frank
is entitled to the way that he feels and that that's his his prerogative well I isn't that point the same though like the first game it's not going to change how we feel and he said he's and I say and I said that's fine but but here's the reality of of how Frank is judging Frank has Jalen pigeonhole one way and he doesn't see it any other way and that's Frank's vision that's the way that he sees it I choose to be a little bit more optimistic and think that he can do it there has nothing even with Frank since he says that it's going to be week five or weeks six Jalen has done nothing to validate either one of our thought processes in week one yeah I agree that's the truth but see for Frank he hates Jalen so much because that's what it is because he set down he rambled all that about Jalen and the reality of the matter is this neither one of us are right I just choose to be optimistic but Frank wants to pigeonhole Jalen and say that Jalen is only going to be what Jalen has always been and that that's I don't believe that to be the case yeah I also think this is way bigger than Jalen guys the dominance of the Eagles is not just
Jalen hurts because the Eagles have had two dominant teams with Jalen hurts two 2024 was a dominant team the Merrill call right the greatest team in modern Eagles history and the 2022 team which is pretty darn great football team that just happened to lose a shootout to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl Jalen was great in 22 Jalen was not great in 24 so I don't think this is all about Jalen hurts it's about the collective the team defense offense offensive line and so whatever whatever it is they they I think they need to to start putting their foot on but the bottom line is this just like that call we just have a friend he made it all about Jalen he ain't saying nothing about the fact that that that landed Dickerson was hurt and the fact that that probably more than likely was the catalyst for the offense to look like it was probably was and and and with all that being said see this is where you know if you just hate Jalen just say you hate Jalen because with all that going on he still had a decent game I agree yeah he had a decent game but we've gotten so you know we've gotten so hung up on what the quarterback is and what he isn't we don't look at the whole the game is it's an entirety we look at it as all we're he
into this he didn't do that landed Dickerson came out of city played horrible but for Frank it was about what Jalen did how about if your guards healthy maybe you look different well maybe you can run more of the stuff that they plan to run exactly so that's my point so Frank I say all that to say if you just don't like Jalen and don't need you to come on here and just bump your gums and run your mouth and say all this I just say I don't like Jalen I respect that if you say that I respect it I like the bum gum other gum bum maybe but just don't have bump in his gum we do a lot of gum bump in on the stage it's all the new one you know about bump you just don't hear bump in your gum I'm gonna stop I like what people call in somebody bumped his gums a couple days ago and he might owe someone an apology that's coming up next including getting called out by his former teammate and his his teammate here at WIP for the slander on Cooper D'Gene latest on D'Gene is he banged up and it's he ready to apologize for all I said about him that's coming up next it's the midday show sports radio 94 WIP
