I'm sure you talked to the guys about this throughout, but I haven't had a chance to pick your brain with it. Sustainable. How do you feel about the way that they've

1:00shorted of attacked and if this can continue moving forward? Yeah, I mean, I think it's sustainable. I think we're talking, and we're not talking about a week. This is a good, you know, over a month worth of results that, you know, the offense has just been better. The approach is better. It doesn't mean they're going to hit every night. Some nights are going to run into guys like Chris Sale. It doesn't mean they're going to put up six on sale or Mizorowski. But it gives you a much better chance to win. And I think we've obviously seen them, you know, they've been good in the clutch, you know, runners in scoring position, that sort of thing. So yeah, I do think it's sustainable. Does it mean that it'll ultimately lead to what we all want to see? I don't know. But, you know, I like the way it's going. I like the direction it's headed. So do you like Scott? This is Al. To have a meeting like this with a man. I know. How are you doing? Last I saw you was trade deadline. When we're all wondering about the who's on first infield, it seems like it's worked out OK.

2:02Yeah. You know, I think internally they were pretty confident that it was going to work out. Dot Madingley has said on a number of occasions, the one that he worried about the most was Harb. And not about Harb playing right, Bill, but just handling the demands of it, his body getting used to it again. He thought there might be some growing pains with, you know, tracking flyballs and stretching out the throws again, that kind of thing. But he felt like that was the linch kind of this whole thing was harder being able to handle right. Yeah, because he felt like all the other spots were going to be good. Scott, when it comes to Zach Wheeler right now, how do you feel about where he's at coming off of the last start? Now it was a rough first inning, of course. But after that, he settled in nicely. And it's been weird. It's been a very strange season for him. Every time you talk to him, he's kind of looking for answers and searching for things. But it was a promising last start after the first inning. What can you say about sort of where he's at now and how you feel about the way at least looks

3:04like it's kind of getting back on track and all that good stuff? Yeah, I mean, I think it's definitely something to build on. It looked better. He held his stuff longer. I thought that was encouraging. Again, he was facing the angels, not the 27-year-old. This weekend will be a much different test for him. So again, I think I thought it was a good step in the right direction. I mean, we're so on a custom to see Zach struggle, other than like, you know, everybody has a bad day. And he would have a one-off now and then, but you would never see him struggle for this length of time. So, you know, again, I think another starter to continue to build on what we saw last time out. I don't have a huge concern about him. Just given his track record, I kind of feel like he'll figure it out. But again, until he does for sure, then, you know, you never fully know, I guess.

4:07Yeah, when you look at us starting, Petra, I know in hockey, Goli's don't like to say it's Goli against Goli, but you've got a guy like Sales coming off. I think he's just faced the kid in Milwaukee and Yamamoto and then to come in, is there a ramp up for a pitching matchup that's coming up? The three pretty good ones this weekend. I think they're all competitors. So, I think they obviously, I mean, they know they have to beat the hitter, right? They've got to do stuff against the hitters. But that said, you know, I don't think there's a question. You go back, you know, like Zach Wheeler, for instance, back in the middle of May, we're all talking about schemes and Sanchez and his scoreless streak and, you know, Mizorowski striking everybody out. And we had our chance to go ahead to head with schemes and he totally dominates that day and beats him. And I do think there's something to be said for those guys. I mean, again, they have to focus on the hitter.

5:07You know, they're not trying to get the pitcher out or for quote unquote, out duel, I guess, but they definitely want to win those games. I think the competitor in them means that they do get up for games like that. When they're facing off against, you know, one of the very, very best in the game. We're talking to Scott Fransky for a Fransky Friday here. How do you view these two teams? You know, outside of the record, of course, because we know the Braves are winning the division, but these two teams right now, the way both of them are playing, do you think that they're in the same tier? Would you give the edge to the Braves because of their record? How do you see both of them? Well, I mean, to have four games in hand, that's big, obviously. Going down the stretch, in terms of, you know, in terms of handicapping, if whether or not you can come back and win the division, obviously this weekend the Phillies would have to play really well. And, you know, split won't get you anywhere, really. But at the same time, I mean, I think they're fairly evenly matched.

6:08And I haven't watched, like I haven't dug into watch the Braves. Obviously, I see what they're doing, their results, you know, wins and losses each day. But, you know, talking to some other people, they're like, you know, these guys have struggled to swing the bat. You know, the starting pitching, the middle relief, it's all been really up and down. You know, beyond sales, sales obviously been tremendous. But beyond that, there've been some ups and downs. They've obviously had injuries again. So I certainly like the way the Phillies rotation sits right now. The Phillies need to figure out what's going on with everybody else at the top of the order, besides Bryce, because I think we started to see it. The diamond backs were offering Bryce less and less to swing at. And more teams are going to do that until the other guys around him, you know, start doing some stuff. And I just think that's paramount for the Phillies to figure those guys out. Schwarbert Turner arise.

7:10If they want to make some hay, it's going to be the offense that really does a number here down the stretch. And talking about the offense, just one guy in particular, how has thoughts kind of stock risen beyond Philadelphia for what's going on this year? I was always kind of mesmerized why he didn't get enough kind of credit as a fielder and then do a move like this. And then to have a, he'd launch a home run like he did the other day. Where's, how is his game kind of risen as the Phillies have gone along here? Yeah, he's been incredibly valuable. His ability to make that switch and do it so flawlessly and still handle the offensive side of his game. I think it's been huge because you're asking the guy, you know, he was an anchor at the infield. And he remains an anchor. He's just such a good ball player. He's such an instinctive ball player. He knows where everybody is supposed to be on every play. So I do think, I think people around baseball

8:12notice now, does that mean he's going to get a huge long-term deal? I don't know. I think he will get a lot of interest, you know, a year from now if he keeps this up. But you're also, and you're also talking about a guy who made substance changes to his swing, right? And his approach at the plate. And I think that's been huge for Bryson. And I think people take notice of things like that. You know, when other teams scout him and when they see him, I think a lot of teams would love to have a guy like Bryson stop on their club. My last one for you, Scott, it's kind of a two-parter, but it's back to the offense and the top of the order. Does it even make sense moving tray turner? I know everyone's kind of been discussing it. It's been hot on the phone lines. I don't know if there's really another alternative because you don't want to put too many lefties up there, of course. And then, you know, behind Bryce Harper with Luis Arise, you know, it's difficult to be the clean up guy. And that's probably not in his mindset prior to this year. And do you think that that weighs on him that he's in the position to be the protector of Bryce,

9:15where he's normally at the top of the line up. And maybe there's a correlation between what he's doing and maybe what we think he can be, if that makes sense. Yeah. I don't know what the difference has been. I mean, obviously, just from a sheer numbers point, it's a huge drop off what he's done with Runners in scoring position since he joined the Phillies. He was hit in 380 with the Giants in that situation. He's hit about 230 with the Phillies. That's a major, major drop off. I think the fact that they've won 15 of the last 18 has maybe masked some of that. If they weren't winning all these games, there might be a little more urgency to try something different with the lineup. I think the way Don Mattingley looks at it, and this is my guess, his one big move, I think would be to flip, flop, arise, and shwer. He said it at the outset that that's the other lineup he was considering when they acquired Louise,

10:18was Louise leading off and Shorber hitting for it. Makes sense, obviously, from a traditionalist baseball lineup construction point of view. As per tray, I mean, again, you're right. There's not a whole lot of other options. You face a team like the Braves. They have lefty starter. They have four lefties in the bullpen. You're just killing yourself if you run all those lefties in a row and move tray out of there. So I think the Phillies are at their best if tray is doing well in the two hole. But again, he hasn't. We haven't really seen glimpses where you think, OK, he's figured it out. He's going to do something different and he's going to get hot. But I think they are at their best if he's handling that two spot. But I think as far as a big change,

11:19flipping arise and Shorber would be the one I could see them doing. Again, there may be some other options in there. But I don't know. I mean, you kind of have to have a righty. So is it home? I don't know that that's the solution. Is it JT? I don't know. Is that a solution? Is that any better? I don't know. I just don't think they're at. Yeah, I mean, I think they're at their best if tray handled that spot. Yeah. Now, I agree with you. That's my pushback to all the callers throughout the day. I don't think the difference in them winning a world series or losing in the NLCS or the wild car round is the way the first four hitters are lined up. It's just if they're going to hit or not. Does that make sense? It makes sense except the lefty thing. You know that that's not a small issue. What side of the what side you're batting from is actually as Scott mentioned. He's got some good baseball knowledge. I would say. I would say. I mean, really that that is I mean, I know a lot of people will say, well, if you hit you can hit well, no, that's what I would. Yeah, with the tray one specifically, I agree with you. Yeah, you can't put that many lefties out there. You can. You know, even in a relief situation on what you're going to face coming in, what they can do. So I do think there has to be more gravity to that than some people want to acknowledge. Yes, it's it's a thing with the tray thing. Yeah, I was specifically just talking about the one in four. Yeah, absolutely. Whether you know, whether you've flipped it, whatever and whatever you work. And I think either guy is no problem.

13:23They do have the luxury here with those two. I don't think they're I mean, I know, you know, the lead off hitting, you know, for your Schwab has been so good. 16:25I and I it's like everybody knows this. This is huge. It's a huge series. I really think that the Phillies can do this. I would love to see them when the division just because I know the guys are dinged up a little bit here and there. I think it would be great for them to get a little rest. I yesterday, I think it was yesterday he was saying, well, you know, they got this momentum and but I think it's a little bit different with baseball and football because they play so many games. Anyway, I am just so excited. My husband said, honey, I think we're going to have to take a gummy for tonight's game. It's going to be really a little cute dogless, if you will. This is the segment of promotion for you. You can I'll tell you what, there is nothing better than sitting back with a nice gummy and watching some baseball. I'm sorry. I didn't take myself off the speaker. That's okay. You sound great. I'm just saying a gummy and bitch gummy. That might be the gummy. Yeah, you take too many gummies before the phone call, Violet. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I don't do, yeah, no, I only do it occasionally.

17:26At night time. But I have to say, and I never, ever in my wildest dreams that I think that I would say that I think I like baseball almost better than football almost. Whoa. Now, what made you make this transition? What do you think changed you? I like it. I understand it more like I get it. You know, I used to think it was just, eh, they're hitting up all and running around the bases. What to do? But now I understand the pitching concept. And I understand why you want to pitch out of a box, just make them try to chase it. And it's just, it's such a fascinating game. I absolutely love it. And I love this core group, the daycare. Come on, guys. I mean, they're already having fun. And I love it. And I know winning helps with that. But I just want to see this core group win so bad because I love them so much. And I love the new additions. Hill is freaking amazing.

18:26And I'm so sad about Garcia because man, he looked like he was starting to find his rhythm with his swing. So, you know, I wish him well. I hope he's, you know, recovering well. I'm so excited. I can't wait. We can hear it finally. We can hear it. And thank you. I appreciate the passion. I really do. So, it's funny she brings up maybe the intricacies of the game or whatever. Right. When I was playing in college, you know how it is, we're hockey players. Sometimes there are hockey players where it's like hockey is the only thing they care about. They don't care about any other sport. Right. I had a teammate who started to see how much I loved other sports. And he was not a baseball fan from Minnesota that really care about anything else except for the Minnesota wild. He started to see me pay attention to some of the baseball or whatever. And he found what Violet was talking about with, you know, why is he throwing this pitch? What's going on here? He started to watch the game through a different lens. Yeah. And it opened up a whole new world for him. It's die hard twins guy now. Yeah. Loves the twin. Does the whole thing.

19:26It's just to put it in perspective. Like there is a whole thinking man's game that once you dive into that part of it. And that's, that's the sport. We're going to have an exciting team too. That's true. I don't know if the twin men had any fair. And it's the value of the playoffs. The fact that the Phillies have been in postseason, that's where you really feel it. That's why it was so important for the flyers to get in the postseason. Even though they didn't make up, they weren't saying how important it was. It was huge because then your hyper focus on it and you pay attention to some of the details. And like baseball is difficult. Let's face it. Of all the sports to figure out. It's beyond stupid. When you, if you sit down and try to explain football to somebody, it's, I don't want to say it's simple, but it's pretty basic. We first down, get here. Baseball. You, you can't, if you're not American or Canadian or North American and you try to explain baseball to somebody, it's impossible. I will give you one example. Three strikes in your route.

20:27Is that basic? No. No. No. Yeah. One two three strikes. It's like nine different situations. Of course. Could you imagine, I forget what team it was, but when JT Real Muto was on third base and went back a second, imagine trying to explain to someone who doesn't know the sport. What the hell just happened and why JT was on third, how we got caught out in second, how they got doubled up. The whole thing, what happened there? Yeah. Yeah, you're right. There's probably a lot of confusion going on. What happens when you have the Phillies? When you have people that you then know, which is why it's so important, you bring people up in there here for a while, you know, you, you, you, you, bone, much as you want them out of town at times, you've watched them as a player for a while. That's really critical. That's why those teams from the oh, eight, whatever, the, the outly teams, whatever, you really want to like your players. Oh, yeah. Have them around. The Eagles have that. The Phillies have that. What we'll see with the Sixers, they just bring in their people. Man, it's, it's great. And that's why that postseason is critical to making fans and making fans know your team and love the sport.

Well, I just want to know if you are believing in the in shape. I'm ready to go. I learned the hard way. All the Russians in the in the summer when he was back training with all of his, got the panarens of the world. Maybe they got on them and they were like, yo, dude, come on, man. Like are you, because I'm getting sucked in. I don't know if it's just my flyers off the mism. I've seen the pictures, you know, it was out there these days. You know, but how do you feel about Mitch Cove entering this season?

23:32I feel better. The beauty shots didn't impress me. No, much. You didn't like the photos on the beach with the misses. I mean, I don't, I mean, I'm too old to, you know, social media stuff to like really do. He had videos and he went to flyers backwards, had shoulder pressing in the gym. That stuff. I did like the old school running up the stairs thing on one leg. There you go. Like I remember doing that. That's like, that's really, that's really bold. That, that thing. But I don't, I don't buy the, uh, that as much as I think he knew he had to come back and, and have the locker room have no questions about him. I, I think that that was really important that, that it's like, I, you know, I'm, this, I'm serious about this. And like God knows he's got enough talent. I don't know what his boots are going to be like. I mean, it's still the biggest issue to me. I mean, you know, the league is built on speed. Unless you, you know, you really think the game at several thousand RPM is more than anybody else. I, I don't know what you can do to, to pick up that speed a little bit.

24:33But as far as it tells me a lot, if you come in and like, you're serious that look, I'm, I'm committed to this. There's no excuse not to be in any sport anymore. I mean, I, I can see where, you know, I know it drove the, I guess, uh, talk it back to off a little bit on some of the stuff. But when you're a coach or you're a little team leader, you have to have your entire locker room. And, and if everybody's bustin' there behind to show up in shape and do this and do that, you gotta be there. And I think he's committed to that. That's what's with a little bit disappointed me because when he first came in, I love rink rats. I love, I don't care how old you are. You're lookin' at one. I love rink rats. And he was a rink rat, which was made me surprised that he was an out of shape. I often looked at it like just as a human being. You know, I went to like Catholic school and all that. And the first year I didn't have like, nuns and priests and whatever. I had a rough summer because I was like, I hear you.

25:34What? I hear you? I can wake up all. I can free you. Yeah, I can do that. What is this all then? Yeah, yeah. So, you know, we said Russian coaches and then tourists are like, okay, maybe I can just roll, can I have 10 minutes for myself? Right. Right. At that type of time. Right. And a little like, whoa, whoa, yeah. Yeah, hey, this is stupid. But I think you learned your lesson. It's like, okay, come back and shape and let's just start rolling. My last question and then cost. Yeah. Again on Mitch cuff. Yeah. There was a lot of talk before the offseason that maybe he wouldn't spend as much time overseas. Maybe he'd spend more time in Voorhees. This, that the third, well, it seems as if it was heavy outside Voorhees. Yeah. Recently coming into town, make anything of that or is that just who blocked the way? No, I think, I think if you train hard over there, it's just a matter because a lot of guys over there. Sure. It's hard to get into different that culture, especially on what goes on. Plus, I think the flyers had a lot of changes in their own conditioning. They did. They actually just announced it. They made changes to their training staff and all that.

26:34Yeah. Yeah. So I'm not so sure. And I don't know what program he was given, but I don't know how much he can even give a program when there's that many changes going on. I think that's all self-driven. You have to, to me, you have to rely on the fact that the player is self-driven to do that. And for what it's worth, it certainly looks like. I mean, I'm hoping it's not a Ben Simmons situation where I looked at all the videos and him shooting them, you know, taking shots and then nothing happens when season starts. But I don't think so. I think, I think you know what hockey locker rooms are like. I think there had to be some embarrassment might be a tough word. It's hard to, I can't talk to them so you don't know, but I think you know when people are saying, oh, you're not in shape. If people told you you weren't in shape, what would you do? Would you not want to be the top guy coming back the most in shape? Absolutely. And I think that's where you're going to be at. Yep. There'll be sense of urgency. So I'm buying into it. I was just curious. You're feel on it all. Let's go to Tony and Kenet Square. What's up, Tony?
