It's the six o'clock hour. Come on step on a duck on afternoon drop one hour to go. Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterland with Thea of course we got the Browns preview show coming up in one hours time come up in two hours time the coverage of the Browns the Seahawks and Patriots as the NFL regular season has returned. If you guys missed a moment of today's show though you can listen back in the free Odyssey app. Don't forget you can also watch all five hours on 92 to do the fans YouTube channel. Make sure to subscribe. It is free. All right, you like free, don't you? Ring that bell, except you Cornlido suck it cornlido and like our videos we desperately need to be liked around these parts but with all that being said, it is a hump day. And when I think a hump days, I think a derro writer are 92 to do the fan Cleveland sports reporter brought to you by Shive and jewelers Cleveland's premier jewelry store. Darryl. How you doing buddy? Oh Darryl. I'm good guys. How are we happy hump day? I mean football is back. Yes, yes, get to watch a game
tonight that actually matters. Even I mean, it's it's it's honestly it's a replay of one of the worst super balls we've had recently. And I know here. Hey, maybe it'll be different this time. That's true. That's true. Second viewing. Second view. Maybe because it's exactly two. If it goes exactly the same as last year's Super Bowl, I would have been serious. I'll be walking around my house. I know people are saying that Calci, uh, that betting the under. I think it's 44 and a half that that is a popular thing that there have been one or two heavy heavy bets on the under. All right, good to pay attention to. Look at this. I like this inside access. I hate Calci, but I am fascinated by people to do stupid things with a lot of money. All right, Darryl. Let's get here. Dishon Watson today said, what Buffalo game? And he also talked about, you know, he's only looking forward here. How certain are you that what he's saying is what he actually believes? Yeah, I again, I think he's talking trying to talk himself into some stuff because remember about the whole booing thing, right? He was asked going into the game if, you know, he was worried about being booed and he said, I didn't care. And then
clearly he cared because of his comments after the game. So I think he's trying to talk himself into stuff and trying to maintain his positive of an outlook is he possibly can considering the situation being what it is. And that's why I asked him if he's taking the Todd Munkin approach, right? You're going to go out there and play carefree is, you know, you're going to be able to not worry about anything because I mean, let's be honest about there are no expectations that this guy is going to have much of a positive impact for the Cleveland Browns this season. So I think he really is Nick trying to talk himself into I'm not worried about anything. I feel good. I'm not worried about the the the preseason game and how awful I played and all those things. So I'm not buying any of it, but we're going to find out on Sunday because that's when the truth gets told. Did Munkin put an end to the backup quarterback discussion, or was there just a mist follow up there with the idea then of like, all right, so you answered what happens with the backup and
the chair, but you didn't answer really what happens with tail and green. Yeah. Well, I kind of feel like he did in the sense of he told us on Monday, he doesn't want to have three active quarterbacks. So I think that that answered the question and watching practice today, at least the portion that was open to reporters and I want to be very clear, we get to see very little. Okay. We basically get to see handoff stretching and throwing to wide receivers with no defenders anywhere to be seen, which means that perfect throws and perfect catches. There should be zero footballs on the ground. And I feel bad for informing you there were footballs on the ground. So that did happen today. Oh, really, the the the cut ups of the Sean Watson deep passes the one to Jerry Judy, the one to Isaiah Bond. They look, they did look nice. And that that was the best of what they had to offer. Okay. I thought that was intentional. By the way, Darryl, I don't know if you read it. You read on that was the same as mine, almost like a three point shooter, just
need to see the ball go through the net, just just watching to Sean throw 45 yards and connecting, even if it's against air, there's something mentally that's got to work there. I kind of feel like that, yeah, they were showing off a little bit in front of us today, which was fine, whatever. But yeah, I kind of feel like the tail and green package just based on what I saw in practice as far as like backup quarterback reps, it sure looked like should or Sanders is the number two quarterback. All right, Darryl. There's this little thing called a Browns game on Sunday against the Jaguars. And we do we should probably ask since Ross asked us, how do you say Jacksonville's team name? I say Jaguars. I do not say Jaguars wires or whatever they don't say wires. Do you say Jaguars, which is very popular in this area? I say Jaguars. All right. How do you say the Sanders first name? Shoulder. Okay. You're too. We're really proud of you. We like you. We never doubted you, by the way. I mean, we are of course not.
That's why you asked. We also made sure to bet against you on the CalShi markets, but that was just business. All right. I hope you I hope you made lots and lots of money at my expense. No, I work in radio. I was going to say I make a lot of money. I make no money, but usually nope, not going to finish that sense. Don't need to. I love you. That's all I'm going to say, Darryl. What do you think the most likely outcome for Sunday is for the Browns? Well, I I'm not picking them to win. And just basically hoping for a competitive game, but I think that that's the most likely outcome. That's the best is this competitive game. The Browns keep it close and hopefully they have a shot at the end. Darryl, we did talk about the report from Fox eight with Deshan Watson in this beating ticket and him saying he's not guilty. 86 and a 60. I would imagine the Browns. I don't think they're going to really. There's nothing really that's going to happen with this. What's your read? No, I think they just talked to them and that's that.
Well, they even bothered to go through the like the talking part of this with Deshan. I mean, he didn't get one right after the trade as well. And then I think this is the first one since that incident. It's such a good streak. Yeah, it was good streak while it lasted. And I listen, he got caught, right? I mean, that's the, I don't think that's the first time since that he's done this, but this is the first time you got caught. Plead not guilty to it. So not owning up to the charge. You are right. June 11th, 2022, a few months after the Browns did trade for Watson. He was stopped in the Ohio turnpike, Neerson Dusky. He was going 97 in his 70. He did ultimately pay that ticket, though. Also, I don't think of the turnpike. I pay for those streets, sir. Yeah. I, if I want to go 97 in the 70, I'm sorry. That's that's for the right to speed on the turnpike. It's basically the American auto bond. I'm paying $7 to drive 12 miles. Yeah, my freedom. This is pretty simple, though. 26 miles per hour in the one here and then 27 in the one in June of 2022.
He's consistent. He likes to be that 26, 27 over. Yeah. And by the way, by the way, he, he hadn't been ruined as a player yet. So this could be proof that the Sean's getting back to that, that, that 2020, 2021 form. He might be back. It's true. We'll see. And the streets told us we're a highway. They told us. Highways told us. Yeah, we're searching for anything. Right. That's what we're doing. Most days, yeah. What's a hot? We're not searching too far or long, though. We got to make that abundantly clear. Now, Darryl, what's a hot or take from my Nick doc that I have predicted the records of the four teams in the AFC North, that Pittsburgh will be seven and 10 or that the Browns will be eight and nine. I think the Browns eight, nine's a hot or take. Show your work. I, well, I think it's going to be flipped. I think it's going to be the Steelers that will have the, the, the, the better record. But yeah, I don't think that the Browns have eight wins in them because they don't
have the quarterbacks to do it. So that, that's basically my work in the Steelers. Look, they are always close enough to mediocrity and it just, it doesn't matter what they do, what quarterback they throw out there. What I just, they always find a way to win anywhere between eight and 10 games. They usually find a way to backdoor their way into wildcard weekend, only to find themselves run off, run off the field in wildcard weekend and packing their bags for vacation shortly thereafter. So I, I think that the, the, the quarterback situation here in Cleveland is, it's not great. And by not great, I'm trying to be very, very kind heading into the season opener and not be overwhelmingly negative because I was given, uh, Jake at night, some, some grief over that, but, um, over being overly negative, but, um, the, the quarterback situation here in Cleveland is not good at all.
Darrell, I want you to know that you're not going to be the first person that I scream. I told you so into a phone. That's going to be a rush Tucker. It's funny. It's fine. You go right ahead. One is going to be Nick shook. Mm hmm. Uh, and then you will get probably the third call for me as I laugh into the phone. I'm in the top five. That's all I care about. I'm in the top five for I told you so I'm good. Yeah. You haven't enraged me thusly yet, but at some point you could push yourself into the top spot if you want. I don't know. Ross Tucker said I needed a lie detector test today. So you're going to have to go a little bit farther. I'm going to go a little bit, a little bit farther than that. Yeah. No, I'm not going to go that far, but, uh, I am very confident that the Pittsburgh Steelers will finish ahead of the Browns and the standings and the Browns will finish probably where they usually finish. And that's last place. Hey, Darrell, can you give us any insight into what's happening with Tefin Jenkins? Well, uh, I mean, he, he left practice, uh, or walked off the field, I should say, uh, we, we, we able to see that.
And then when you look at the injury report that, uh, the, the, the Browns had to, uh, send out, um, it, you know, they listed him with a, a back injury back, you know, back spasms, I think is probably what it most likely is. We also learned that what kept Carson Swessinger out for a couple of weeks, some sort of a shoulder injury, but did not limit him today at all. And then, you know, uh, Mollie Collins, we knew about him coming back from quadriceps injury and, and Parker Brills for the rookie center, been dealing with the thumb injury. We knew he had some apparatus, uh, brace or whatever on his hand. We saw that because he was doing some, uh, rehab side work there, uh, during media availability, uh, in camp. But yeah, uh, I'm guessing back spasms for Tefin Jenkins. And that's probably why Todd Monkin today went asked about the right guard spot did not want to be absolute in saying that it was
going to be, uh, Tefin Jenkins their Sunday against Jacksonville. Darrell, what would you be less likely to sign up for a lie detector test? Or one of those detectors they put on your deal and then they show you pictures of, you know, like, assimilating things to determine what gets you going. Which one of those would you be least likely to sign up for? I'm going to say, uh, be. All right. So my idea was, because I think lie detector test have gotten too easy. The books out on it, right? A lot of good. Seems like I can't lie anyway. I get myself in trouble all the time. Anytime I try and lie, it's on my face. I'm lying. I'm the best person to play poker against. Yeah. It's, it's not good for me. Did J P's about to say and I, I, I think the liars have put out the way to beat these tests. It makes things they can beat these tests. There's a lot of days. He's never taken one, but he thinks he can beat one of these. I just don't think he can't put it up. You're sure something just like he's stepping on it. I think you put a couple YouTube videos on and I'm not talking about the, the deal one. I'm talking about you put a couple. You then you kind of learn a couple
techniques. That'll be, uh, you'll find that on only, uh, only fans for Nick Wilson does at Nick Wilson does. Uh, but I got to be honest with you. I think if we, if you, if you have like a experiential podcast vlog, whatever, where what are the, what are the names for these things? By the way, this other one you're talking about. I don't even know. I just know they've never even seen one of these. Yeah, I just, I don't deal detector. I don't know how I even go about googling this. I need to find out more info on this. I would wait to get home, Jonathan. Do not do that on any company computer. I just get one IT guy. Yeah, we're cool. I'm not fine. They've, they've getting me now. All right. But get back to what he's doing. You think hot ones is a good show, right? Hey, we're going to have you in a lie detector to deal detector. And then we're not going to tell you whether you're going to have to answer a question or see a scintillating photo. Oh, your wires would be so crossed. The truth would have to come out. I, I would definitely not sign up for any of this. Yeah. No. What if it went viral, Darryl,
and all of a sudden you were on bar stool that that is not the way to go viral. You'd have to say problematic stuff, but they pay well from what I've heard. Well, I'm going to, I'm going to stay away from that. That's fair. I found the name. What is it? Definitely don't want to step. Can you say it on air? I like deal detector. A penile plethora graph. Okay. All right. I think deal detectors better. A plethora graph. It's a medical forensic device used to measure changes in blood flow and size as an objective indicator of a rehearsal. Okay. Yeah. So it looks pretty problematic. I'm going to be. I think Nick is safe with deal detector. Yeah. I like deal safer, but I need we need to know the medical term. Line detector versus deal detector. Right. Sign up for the line detector every time. Yeah. No, no, no, you're going to have to sign up for both of them. That's the, that's the, that's the bit. Kind of looks like a whip. Hmm. Well, this is also. It would be, it would
be digging right now. Let me tell you. Darryl. It's got its own Wikipedia page. It's been a real pleasure. Jonathan has been great working with you. I, well, I had fun. By the way, if all the things I said today, if that got you in trouble first, me, I will say me, wait, wait, hold on, me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cause I had deal detector. I said the size did for the people. I told you the medical name. I know, but I, I can't believe that Jonathan actually looked that up. I'm curious. You're an iPhone. Darryl. I'm a curious human. I got to. I got to get rid of this works. And apparently there's a lot of critiques and the method, the methodology attached to this is a lot of problems associated with this. In fact, these are just like the line detector test. The suggestion on Wikipedia is that your lie detector test is way more accurate than what this is going to be. I think there's a lot of guys not want to cop to a kink and being like, that's not what gets me going. I think there's a lot of guys that aren't comfortable saying, saying what they're into. Apparently a lot of real value comes from this for people that suffer from ED and being able to detect that early on as if there's another guy because it is not obvious.
I guess. But like there's a lot of there's a lot of medical uses for this. We could save people's a part of their life while doing, ooh, we could do deal or no deal. That's what we call it. Do you have to take any medication before you? Well, no, I think that would, I think that would blur the results. Yeah, the medication would just use as evidence in court unless the technique was generally accepted as reliable and then scientific community. And it is just not. Look at that. It is just not. It is just drug and more waste than one. Darryl, it's been a pleasure. Why are there? Yeah, thank you, Darryl. Brought to you by Shyman Jouler's Cleveland's premier jewelry store. Pretty adamant. That just does not mean any legal threshold at all. Tecter or lie detector. Is it box office? You tell me we'll react to what Darryl had to say and get into something. No one's asking for, but you're going to get it in five minutes on 92 through the fan. In case we missed it coming up in just about 15 minutes time, Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peter, then we do have the Browns preview show coming up at seven.
Grant Delpit, Brown Safety. Nice. Love Grant Delpit. Yeah, that'll be always a great interview too. So make sure to stay tuned to that. And of course, TNF, it's a Wednesday. We don't have it. It's not like Wednesday night football. That would be ridiculous. Don't be when we're getting there. We're making a freaking sense. We are getting there. Oh, you want to rail against that, don't you? Not really. It just I just I we don't annoy today at the amount of people that are like, why are we playing on a Wednesday? You got football back. Get us together, people. We needed Wednesday football more than we need an air to breathe right now. Okay. Okay. I don't mean it's such a football drought. I don't care that it happened on a Wednesday. You do this in week eight. Maybe I got an issue with what's going on. Never ever an issue was starting the season earlier. This took way too long. They're literally going to do it the day before Thanksgiving. I'm good with that. Now I'm good with that. Now I'm good with that. No, I'm sorry. I it's all fun every day of the week. What do I care? I'm going to watch it anyway. It's something nice to watch as I'm, you know, when I get home, I'm thrilled with it. Give me as much as much and as often as you want. Everyone complains about if we get to 20 regular
season games, it's going to dilute the product. And I say, nay, nay, having a game every day of the week, that will dilute the product. You still get your Friday. You still get your Tuesday. You still get your Saturday. Yeah. No, because at points, we have Saturday games, uh, late and winter. We also have we get Saturday games. The only thing we don't have is a Tuesday or Friday game, give the NFL five years. They'll figure it out. Oh, Friday because the laws is going to be really hard to do. The Tuesday game, Tuesday, billion dollar corporations have never changed laws on a win. Tuesday is common. We have there's there's high school ramifications. There's also to things that are in fact, you know, give so rats ass about high school ramifications. You think he hasn't already tried to go ahead and get Friday games? Oh, I don't know. The reason why they do the Friday game that they're able to right now and put it at three o'clock. They much rather put it at seven. There was so easy to get around this stuff. They'd already have it at seven o'clock. It just takes time and money and they have both of those things to the NFL. Yeah, they've been trying. They've been trying for years to get that done. That one, I don't know that that's ever going to happen. I really have truthfully don't you you underestimate
no, because they've been trying. They've been trying really hard for a long time. You notice they haven't stopped. They haven't gotten it done. Yeah, that much like the one game regular season because of college football and high school football. That one might actually be a real one. What I love about you is that you think anything sacred in America. It's not that I just think that so you just think that they've unlimited power and unlimited money and it's going to be able to pull it off because you see all sorts of examples of that being the case in America. But they've been trying. You're active like they like haven't even given it a a hardy try yet. They've been trying for a decade plus to get Friday night football going again. There's a reason why their games are already at three o'clock on Friday because they had he have to adhere to that law. That's easy as just throwing money at it and then throwing around their power. Then it would have already been done. And let me ask it 20 years ago. Did we have football games on Fridays? No. Okay. So we've made headway. Is that what I'm understanding? We've made all that money, all that power, all that influence has made a headway on Fridays already. You got a three o'clock game that is you could have done 20 years ago if you wanted to. That's just that's adding games
within the within the construct of the wall. And you can flip from three to seven pretty quick. No you can't. That's where the wall comes in. That's where this problem has come in. I love the way you're thinking that's where this problem they had Jonathan Peter Lince America. They had to put it at three o'clock. I do think they're like Friday at three o'clock and three o'clock in football. You think they like Friday at three o'clock? You think that was a great game for them? Yeah. No, they were much rather preferred seven o'clock. The wall says they can't right now. It's so they can't. All right. Right now operative terms. They've been fighting for a long time to get rid of this turn to write it. That's why I've so blown away. I'm being right now like oh, just so this isn't all honey. So you know, so so night. It's just like a hard at moment. No, they've been trying really damn hard for a long time to play Friday night football. They've not been able to circumvent that yet. It's like when some of like the 25 year old guys we have working here when like a pretty girl walks by and they go oh boy. Oh, she's a lady. That's what you are right now for the NFL and Friday night football. If they have the power and the money that you suggest that they have, they would have had the law already changed. They don't have a change for a reason. It takes time. 15 years. Yeah. And that is that is a pittance of time in the in the
grand cause most of the kind of a pittance of time. It's a whole time. Good. That was been in trial. It took us about the 25 years of constant push to get weed legalized and it's not legalized. So much power and so much money took 20 years to get anything done. Yes. Yes, that is. Yes, come on. Yes. And declining morals while I'm at it. Let me get in my soap box and declining morals and these phony baloney politicians. I felt good. He's a real good. He powered. Yeah, they're phony and baloney. I'm gonna say it and it rhymes too. Yeah. Are you gonna tell me politicians aren't phony baloney there? Not making that defense. Okay. I didn't know how Pauline and we're gonna get over there. I'm making that defense. Speaking of things that make people nauseous, Kirk Herbstreet's dog, Pina has a merch store. Now it's a pop up store. So it's going to be following the college game day crew. But currently it's it rests upon baton rouge. Now the nice side of this, a percentage of sales will support local veterinary schools. We
don't know what that percentage and or it's with about 2%. And actually another 5% is going towards getting NFL football on Fridays at seven o'clock. And or dog focused organizations, which by the way, dog focused organizations, you could really get liberal with the language of that. Yeah, I need more direct. I need more like this is going to the I you know, you know, the you probably have when it comes to certain charities. Yeah, certain charities that they act as if they're like they're doing the greater good. But the reality is that so much of the money is just going to the CEO. So that's where it's not nearly as much as right. There we go. Not nearly as much towards the actual, you know, problem that you're trying to fight. The reaction to this. Um, I live in a world where there's a lot of stuff I don't like. And most of the time, I might mutter something under my breath, maybe send like a really snarky tweet about it. But most of the time, I just keep going about living my life. Yeah. People cannot do that with Kirk Herb
Street's dog. I don't know what this dog did to people. I don't know what Herbie did to people other than predict and call college football NFL games. But the insidious relationship that social media has with Kirk Herb Street's dog. Guys, if you don't like this, don't shop at it. And it'll go away. That's how this one kind of works. I think I have more of a problem with the people that shop at the dog store. The dog store existing or buy a photo of Kirk Herb Street's dog and walk around with that. I actually like the idea over you are all cute puppy. You have actually that's not mine. That's Kirk Herb Street's dog. Who's Kirk Herb Street's dog? He doesn't know so I really like it. It does like college football games. So why do you have his dogs face on your shirt right now? Well, I just I think it's fine. Actually, I think you're being very dismissive of the dog. I think what they would say is that's Peter Herb Street. And that who? I'd be like, oh, Peter Herb Street. He's a big star. He's a nationally televised star in the sports world. Have you ever given your dog, or at least ever introduced your dog? He's like,
Mungo Wilson and done the last name with it. It's insane. No, no. It's insane. And not just that, but I am. That's Boony Tunes behavior. I am vehemently opposed. It dogs having human first names. I might my cousin. My uncle had a dog a bad ass at how I found dog called Mike. Yeah. And I just remember thinking like that's that's that's like a my uncle was a 40-year-old mechanic with cancer named Mike. That's what Mike goes to. Not a dog. Not a beagle. That's what it was. It was a damn big. No, I agree. I I always felt like dog names should be more comical than anything. And that's that's where you get to name. And I always named it after like baseball players. I liked and little things like that. That's where that falls in place. Yeah. But hey, a Margaret get over here. Margaret. Like that just like you can't even have fun with your dog names. Okay. I got to imagine the people who just oh, solely named their dogs. Human names. They couldn't think of anything else. The least fun planet. Like you could take him to
Amsterdam to any of those different places that they have. And they would be like, you guys got a dog museum around here? You guys, anybody got any cool pennies? That's what they sound like. Yeah. Dog museum and cool pennies. Yeah. Yeah. Lane. Are you talking about like the little thing? They can literally be I put like the little the like stamp it down. Sex show going on. And they're like, oh boy, look at this new app I have on my phone there. What kind of app is it? I don't know. I might be a good app. Tells me the weather, but in Russia. Oh, I got to call Darryl. Okay. Darryl be a ridiculous dog name. You know there are a lot of people with first name. Oh, this is pissed right now. Whatever. Basically, it's probably like half the listening audience. The dog community is gunning for your boy right now. Suzy or something. They're a little with it. That's Susie is kind of funny. Yeah. That's why it's so funny. Because Suzanne would be ridiculous. Okay. Okay. See? I pick up one button down.
