Chris Fedor coming up in just about 40 minutes here. We'll talk about how the calves
or how playoff ready are the Cavaliers as that's looking more and more like the foreseed
is looking more and more like we get a little health run here from the Cavaliers. Can't
really say the rest about the NBA, but again, Fedor coming up at about 40 minutes here,
but tonight is a big night for the guardos and and for Jose Ramirez as and he has a
chance to break the all time games played record for Cleveland baseball organization,
taking it from Terry Turner, who we all knew and love. That's a 6 10 first pitch, by the way.
I, it's funny. I didn't know this, this record was on the horizon, but you know, as I've read more
about it over the last couple of days, getting ready for tonight's game, I just, it's just,
it's really cool in reaffirming that this is the next record that Jose gets to break here,
because it's just, it's a record that should exemplify you with as a guy that people think about
with Cleveland baseball. And I just, I don't know that there's any player and think about all the
greats we've had in the last 40 years. I don't know there's any player that is now more synonymous
with Cleveland baseball than Jose. Well, and the cool thing about it as well is the idea,
not only it's just with the Indians and obviously the 2016 World Series and everything with that,
but it's ushering in the Guardians era as well. There's not a single person when you think
Guardians baseball that you think more than Jose Ramirez. You might ask somebody about the Indians,
they might tell you some of those 90s players, they might tell you some other names and even if we
think Jose is just as good as any of them, like Jose has been able to become synonymous with what
this new chapter of Cleveland baseball is. I do think I'm not trying to relitigate any of those
conversations that stunk for the decade we had before they happen and certainly stunk the
first two years after the name change. I do think this is one way which the Guardians have got
incredibly lucky with Jose. Him signing those two contract extensions has done more good will
for that name on the front of the jersey. Maybe more so than even like winning a World Series would
have done. Yeah, and obviously then the idea too that it's just such a clean split from Lendor
and J. Ram and it kind of just went along with the same timeline then to mix in with the name change,
like it's not a it's not a who represented the most in that stretch. It was it's Jose and it's
unequivocally Jose now. And I think we're in an interesting spot like you start to look at Jose's
big numbers. And you know, he's he's right on that threshold of of war. It's usually like 60 wars
like the beginning to break point a breakthrough point for Hall of Famers. He's at 57 and a half
home runs. He's almost a 300 home run should get there this year at 34. He's starting to break through
some of the metrics that automatically just puts you into being a first ballot Hall of Famer.
And it's I was really starting to think about this earlier today. Like he's already on the level
of like Joe Thomas is for me and of like Miles Garrett's like singularly great players,
guys who define an era of baseball. And it's interesting to think we're another five years at
this level three or four years at this level and maybe a World Series championship. Yeah,
what that would do for his legacy. Because I think there are just just with the way we I think there's
a certain gilded few at the top of the mast when it comes to Cleveland Sports and who are obviously
LeBron having won the first year with the five years that we got to share LeBron with basically
everyone in the world. Yeah, it's funny that hasn't really dinged him in my opinion. Sorry,
it hasn't dinged him for managing. But I feel like if we were coming up with like a who's the best
Cleveland sports athlete, I feel like LeBron. He doesn't get he doesn't get overlooked by any
measurement. But because we have to share him with everybody and because it's not it's not just
Miami and Los Angeles. I mean like is the NBA world exclusively for 20 years gets a piece of
LeBron. I just feel like it gets because he's such a mega star. I just feel like it's it's a lost
in a way that like Joe Thomas just doesn't, you know. Oh, it's almost like too big for Cleveland
kind of thing. Like he out. Out grew. I think he's not just said that. By the way, didn't somebody say
LeBron out grew Akron. I very recently like an NBA great. No, just said he doesn't like coming home.
Okay. Okay. He doesn't like playing here. That's totally different because it's a couple
different discussions. Like Joe Thomas is although he is one of the greatest left tackles of all time,
Joe Thomas doesn't ever come up in greatest NFL player of all time category. He doesn't hit those
lists. Whereas LeBron is funny because he is a first ballot Hall of Famer, which usually kind of
is in tow with that. But it just doesn't, it's just it's not a thing. It's a quarterbacks. Yeah.
And so it's like Tom Brady and it's certain, you know, certain players are on that list. Joe Thomas
isn't unfortunately. It is what it is where what like the list that Joe Thomas appears on
on. Equivically is the greatest Cleveland sports players list and like like Hozier Marys is awesome.
He's going to be one of the best players in the past 20 years. But he's not on anyone's baseball
list for the greatest in the sport for the past 20 years. By the way, it was Rich Paul that said
that about LeBron and Akron, but two and six, four, seven, four, 0092. So Hozier Marys is about to
break the old time games played record. How far can Hozier climb among the old time great Cleveland
athletes? I and why it's like guys that have played for Cleveland, not just like LeBron, who's from
down the road. And the truth is I was trying to think about this. And it's like if you can surpass
even like a Joe Thomas, if you can surpass a Miles Garrett, I wouldn't have ever thought that
was possible for a Cleveland baseball player, knowing just how popular the Browns are in town,
I think Hozier's got a real chance. I think if he continues on for another three to four years
at his current level, three, four, five, four a year player. And again, if the Guardians even just
get back to the World Series, or they just are knocking on the World Series again in like the
conference championships again, I think he's there. And I like honestly, I just am not used to
baseball players staying in Cleveland long enough to have this conversation because it does seem
predominantly to be a Browns conversation in the Cavs conversation. So I think the discount helped a
ton. There's no other way to look at it to the double discount. Very endearing. Like if there's
ever been a move that was it gets us meter type move, that's going to be it right there. I know
does he need to win League MVP? He's been top three in League MVP like five times. It's been
an insane number of times. One area where, and I think he's more popular than Miles, I do.
I just even though I know it's a football town. I just I feel like Miles is just not as beloved as
Jose is. Yeah, but like Miles is one defensive player of the year. That's his version of the MVP.
Like he's won his version of it. Does if Jose won an MVP with that count as great as him winning a
World Series or something along those lines? No, only because I don't think anyone like, okay,
I think I want Jose to win an MVP award. I'm already ambivalent about, you know, voted on awards
anyways. And it's almost like, yeah, it gets you finally realized how great he was.
I do feel like the two DPO wise for miles went a long way for his for fans recognizing just how
great he was and kind of like cementing that idea. First ballot Hall of Famer all time great.
We're watching one of the best. Oh, it's interesting. I felt the same way. Like I wanted those
things for miles because miles. It's apparent how much miles cares about those kind of things
because he's thinking his super his is Hall of Fame legacy. I'm very similar to Jose. It's like,
man, I would want that for you because you deserve that. But it probably wouldn't have any bearing
here on how I think of Jose. Like to me, the only thing he has left to do other than just the
longevity thing, which he's already incredibly impressive, having been this player for over a decade
in Cleveland and baseball and sticking around. But the really the only thing left to do is make
another wide make another World Series or win it. Everything else helps. But like that's the only
thing that I think can really take him where it's like, oh, it's Jose and it's LeBron. You know,
I gave it. Sorry. It's LeBron, which is entirely fair. I feel like if we're talking about
rarefied air, the in Cleveland specific a place that had been just so hungry for championships
and had the long drought like you have to winning a title should instantly catapult you in a way
that we should reserve that for those guys. 216 474 0092. So Jose Marist and I he isn't a line up
which means he will break the all time games played record for the Cleveland baseball organization
going all the way back to 1918. Our guy Terry Turner. May he rest in peace. He's been dead since
1960. He's been dead for a while. Yeah. Incredible. Yeah. He's been dead for a while. Not that he's
been dead for that long. That's not great. What I mean is that it's incredible. We're about to see
a guy's record get broken. That is 106 year or no 108 year old record. That guy's actually been
deceased longer than I think all of my parents have been alive. That's just a bit of a mind bleed
for me. Records were made to be broken Nick. That's true and people were meant to die. Well I didn't
like that. As it was coming out. I did not like that one too long. You're not wrong. Welcome back
from vacation. Yeah. It is just a Monday and four o'clock though. Also it's like a 40 degree day.
I'm choosing to say this. Don't worry guys. We'll all be dead soon enough.
Like that one even less. How far can Hosey climb amongst the all-time great Cleveland athletes
as another record falls to Hosey Ramirez's feet and you're either going to love this one or
hate it. Whether it's on the board for the Browns, that's in five minutes on 92 through the fan.
