We're going to be back on the fan one hour down four to go with you guys. Anthony Lamp, Michael Markcodge, in for the afternoon boys, full level of programming tomorrow, right? Right. Yes, everyone's back in tomorrow. You should know by now, I don't look at the schedule. Um, okay, great. So starting live and local at five a.m. with the fan warmup show, I want to get to Todd's call real quick in Ward one because he's been on hold for a long time and then we can launch into our segment. But Todd, what's going on, man? So Michael, Anthony, if you're watching quarterbacks in the college ranks for your own entertainment and nothing more, that's a good thing. But the Browns quarterback room is going to be solid next year. That is a truth. And in addition to that, if they drive or we're out of the win they drive, they're looking for the closest thing to sunny styles. They could have gotten this year, the next year. That's what they're looking for. Sunny styles are better.
Now in reference to this week, I watch Jacksonville playing the preseason. I'm not, I'm not convinced that we have to be that concerned about them at all. I mean, they're not going to be able to throw deep on the Browns. This is a healthy Browns team and a healthy secondary where the starters are going to all be playing. So I'm feeling like, okay, if they, if they get them, they're going to have to get them on short yardage. And the tackling is good enough in the linebacking core to where the Browns should build hold these dudes down at least until the fourth quarter where they should build a high runner. Why do you think Jerry Judy, and this is an exit question, why do you think Jerry Judy was better than Isaiah Bond last year and why aren't you missing a his name amongst the receivers that are exceptional for this year? That's all I got. Please answer directly. All right, Todd, I appreciate phone call. Happy Labor Day to you, Michael. Go ahead. I've been, we're not talking about Jerry Judy in that same, you know, discussion because
last year he was horrible. Like he was really bad. And he, and from what I've heard in camp, like he was the receiver dropping passes, not Casey Katseptjone, not Denzel Boston, it was Jerry Judy. So like, if we, if we talk about things about like earning trust back with the fan base, like that's what Jerry Judy has to do. Like he's got to go out there week one, put up a good performance, and then he's got to repeat it. He's got to do it again and do it again and do it again. Like that, that's why we don't put him in that discussion because he hasn't earned it. Like, good. I got you. I was going to, all I was going to say was like, when he first came to the Browns two years ago, he was really, really good. And then he was really bad last year though. But last year with a rough quarterback situation, it's felt like he was this interested. It felt like he didn't care. It just felt like he was not trying to be a part of the solution to be like, hey, look, my quarterback struggling. I want to go help him out. I was like, oh, my quarterback struggling. I don't have to, whatever. Like that's what it felt like. Yeah. And he came to Cleveland kind of with a, with a, with a big rap sheet of him, maybe not being a big locker room kind of like leader, a good locker room guy.
A guy that was trying his best to get the most out of his talents. Like he was a mid first round pick by Denver. He was supposed to be their wide receiver one for the next seven years. And he just never took that extra step in Denver. Maybe the changes scenery helped him out. But I mean, it's not like, you know, you mentioned the quarterback situation. It's not like this year is going to be any different. You know, they might not have four quarterbacks. But I think a lot of us believe they're at least going to have three. And they might end up having four with Taylor and Green at the very end. So what we saw last year was him complaining to the media having these really kind of colorful press conferences during the week, you know, after a regular practice on like a Tuesday. And that same confirmation bias started to creep back up with us that we're like, wait a minute. This guy, is this the thousand yard receiver or is this the kind of diva guy that thinks that he's better than anything else going on when he's not putting in the actual work?
And I don't want to call this a conspiracy because conspiracy is the wrong word. I'm just going to use it just to make the point. My conspiracy with your duty, especially this year, because it feels like he's a little bit rejuvenated at least. I think he really is excited that Chichon is starting. And I think that's his guy. Yeah. I'm not talking about the Instagram live that was clearly edited to just give you the result that you wanted. I'm not talking about that. It's just the way that Judy's talked about to Sean all off season. It's just felt like, like, man, that's his guy. Like the veteran quarterback, he knows what to Sean used to be. You know, he saw him at his best, all this other stuff. Like he went to college right after to Sean Watson was like a Clemson and was arguably the best quarterback in college football. Like I think Jerry Judy is very excited that to Sean Watson starting this year. So I think that's giving him a little bit of extra juice. And that's not a shot at Shedor. You know, I think per se. I just think, I think this is his guy. And I think that's the guy he's wanted all along. And now that he's got it, I think he's got a little extra juice to him. That's a good enough point. Like I remember when, uh, Amari Cooper was here and he did fantastic under Joe Flacco and
just really not that good under Dishon Watson. And maybe it was a little bit that he was just watched and hit the wrong side of 30 eventually. And it just is what it is. But I remember hearing that Joe Flacco is a very much cerebral quarterback five step drop. He's going to hit Amari Cooper right where he's going to be. And Amari is a very, I'm going to cerebral, uh, route runner. So maybe it's just the fact that Jerry Judy gels better with Dishon Watson style of play. Now I can say that kind of tongue in cheek because, you know, you're like, what the hell is Dishon Watson style of play other than running for his life and getting sacked and overthrown a guy by 20 yards. It might be that case. It might be that these younger wide receivers just overall are more comfortable with a veteran quarterback that's kind of been through the ringer, uh, quite a lot despite the fact that he hasn't played as opposed to a rookie quarterback that even if Shadour or I still call him a rookie quarterback, you second year quarterback like Shadour or Dylan Gabriel that maybe
they are progressing in the right direction. But the clock is still going to speed up on you. And when push comes to shove sometimes when you play some of these better defenses, I know we don't think all that much about Jacksonville's defense. It's a good enough defense that they're going to go off their mark. They're not going to hit you and you're going to be doing everything well as a wide receiver. And then the ball is going to be God knows where. Yeah. And like I said, it's just there seems to be a rapport between Watson and Jerry Judy. And you know, that's a good thing because like the Browns still do need Jerry Judy. Like I understand people talking about this thing of, oh, they can just trade him at the deadline or he's someone that isn't going to be on the team next year. Do they need him to be year one Jerry Judy here or just somewhere in between unplayable and thousand-year receiver? He just needs to do his job. Like I know that I know that sounds cliche and it sounds like a broken record all the time, but like let do your job enough to like let the young guys shine and like do what they're supposed to do. Like Jerry Judy can still be a weapon on this team. You can play inside. He can play outside to like whether they want to put KC in the slot.
They can kick Jerry outside. If they want to have KC on the outside, they can kick Jerry inside. Like they can do whatever they want to do. You can run all the routes. You can run the go routes. You can run the underneath. I think he's going to be an intermediate guy. Like if DeShawn's on third bound and he needs it's third and sixth. And he needs seven. He's going to Jerry Judy on a slant for seven yards. Like that's where I think their trust level is. And especially when DeShawn's playing, I think that's what you're going to see a lot because look, they're veterans. I just think they trust each other more. It's not that KC and Denzel Boston can't get to that level. Because I think they will. I'm just saying early in the season on Sunday in Jacksonville, I think DeShawn's going to go with Jerry Judy's way a lot in situations where he needs him. So that all sounds well and good. But I still believe that in Jerry Judy's mind, he's wide receiver one. He's number one on this team. And so he should be getting the majority of targets. He complained to the media about the level of targets that he was getting last year. And we so kindly reminded him in so many words that, well, you're getting targeted and you're still dropping the ball. So I don't know because last year was such a disaster.
Not just on the field, but in front of the podium. If he's going to kindly take to the fact that he's taking a step back from KC and Denzel Boston, like when they were first drafted this year, I was like, okay, at the beginning of the season, Jerry will be your number one option. He's your veteran guy, no matter what. After training camp, after preseason, after the excitement that I saw from KC and Denzel Boston, I don't think anybody can confidently say that Jerry is your number one option. Despite the fact of what you just said that him and DeShawn have the most rapport, he's thrown the most balls to him in practice and training camp and, you know, non-game action. But still, like he's been around longer than KC and Denzel have been. So I just don't know if he's going to be okay with that back seat role. So you know what fixes all that? Winning? Like, if they're a winning team, if they go out and they win the game on Sunday, but Jerry Judy has three targets and two catches for like 15 yards, like, hopefully that wouldn't matter. And if he steps in and he still wants to be a diva about it, okay, that's when you consider trading him. Because it's like, Jerry, we won the game.
Like, it doesn't matter at that point. I'm going to give Jerry Judy another chance. I think he's kind of had a change of mentality this off season. He has acknowledged to the media. I think he actually apologized to the media before for how he acted last year and he felt that that wasn't right. And, you know, I'm willing to give him a shot at it. I agree with you. We'll see what happens when he's not getting all the targets. I think especially once you door enters the game. So we'll cross that bridge when we get there. But as for now, look, I think this team needs Jerry Judy. I don't think it's wrong of him to think in view of himself as the number one wide receiver in the leader of that room because he has no reason not to do the other two are little workies behind him. They have not played an NFL snap yet. So we'll see, but like I said, I'm willing to give Jerry second chance. It's so funny because the two, would you say that to Sean and Jerry Judy, big, grand and canyon sized gap in between them are the two most dislike players on this team right now. Is there anybody else off the top of your head that you can think of?
I mean, of course, if Andre Schmidt decides to miss a field goal again, then somebody or an extra point, everybody's going to point to him. But like that, those two seem like the two that fans just don't really want to see whatsoever. They're at least willing to accept that Jerry Judy is still on the roster, but they're not excited to see him. Man, I guess maybe you are. You've seen Jerry Judy be a 1000 yard receiver in a Browns uniform. Yeah, but it is. I mean, again, it's the what have you known for me lately thing. And the lately is so much worse than that. The difference is with Deshaun, we've never seen it. Right. So like he's he's shown nothing. Jerry Judy has at least given you a 1000 yard proble level season. But I think if Browns fans, if you were to talk to somebody about that, I don't think they care. It feels like they don't care. Last year was really bad. And that's crazy because if any other wide receiver, you know, if Casey comes out your one and has a 1000 yard year and then goes for 300 yards in year two, they're still going to say that it's a young guy that you're excited about. I think it's because he dissed the quarterback battle. He dissed the fact that he wasn't getting enough receptions that fans just kind of turned
on him. They didn't want to hear it anymore. I mean, I'd also just if you're Jerry, I think you just have to understand at this point, like you may not get a lot of targets this year because the quarterbacks aren't any good. So you'll get targeted. It'll just be nine yards that way or nine yards this way. Like if he catches the ball and he moves the sticks and he does what he's supposed to do this year, I think that's all you can ask for. Like leave the flashy plays for the two rookies. Like you don't have to be the guy that's making all the flashy plays, but you need to be the guy that's reliable. You need to be the safety blanket. You need to be the guy that these quarterbacks can trust and say, Hey, if I throw the ball to Jerry Judy, he's going to catch it. He's going to work for extra yards. He's going to get his first downs. If I throw on the ball in the end zone, he's going to catch it. Like you need to be what we're all talking about Harold fan of me. Right. Well, it doesn't need to be that guy. Of course he does. But those two are the two that are left over from what we had and they need to be reliable. That's the best word I can say for Jerry Judy this year. He needs to be reliable. That's just a brutal spot to be in because he wasn't reliable last year, but two years ago, he was right. But today again, the two most hated players on this team right now, you do need to show
on Watson to at least get the offensive line off the ground. So at least get Casey and Denzel going and you need Jerry Judy to be like you mentioned a confident veteran wide receiver. Also to it, both of these guys, if they don't figure their stuff out this year, no, there's a conversation about both of them not being in the league next year. I'm sure Jerry Judy somebody will give him a shot, but still it's like, dude, you've now failed out at two different locations. Why am I going to give you a shot if you're just going to be a diva and complain about all these things again? 2.6474.0092. We'll get to the segment that we actually were supposed to do as well. You believe Todd Monkin really has this two game hook that everybody's talking about with Tishon Watson. We're back in five minutes on 92 through the fan. Anthony LA at Michael Mark Koch back with the guys here on afternoon drive. Taking your calls at two on six, four, seven, four, double, 92. I'll be enjoying your Labor Day. Another day off for y'all. I just didn't get today off.
Didn't get the weekend off. Didn't get Friday off. My roommate had Friday and today off. You want to cry about it, Anthony? Anthony, this is the sacrifice we make to work in this industry. Every time I do things like this, I go and I drive past all the people, smoking out, barbeque and enjoying the air show, I go, is it really worth it to come talk five hours? Of course it is. You know, it's a good time. There's a camera on you. You're winky. There's a camera on you. Your boss can see you. I love being in here, no matter what day it is. I'd be in here Christmas Day if we had programming. Done that. All right. Two on six, four, seven, four, double, 92. The Gergity conversation, I think it was interesting because it sparked a little bit of, I don't want to say it's excitement in me as I continue my track to be excited for this football season. Here's the issue, Michael. This is going to start sounding like a therapy session, but let's like half the time that
I'm on air anyways. Last season going in. I was watching Lance, I was listening to Lance Riesland. I was listening to everybody that was at Brook Park and I promised I'm going somewhere with this eventually. And everybody's like the offensive line is bad. Should or Sanders doesn't look ready. They're not giving him any opportunities. Dylan Gabriel, you know, Darryl Ryder basically trashed him like left and right as much as he can. And Joe Flacco is 39 years old and in the back of my head, I'm like, I watched this guy with the Colts last year. He wasn't on that good last year anyways. And I don't think another year of being alive is going to help you out a little bit more. So I came into the season being like, yeah, they're probably going to win five games. They were probably going to see all four quarterbacks and nobody's going to be that good. So my expectations were on the floor. And I get to Sunday and I be somewhat excited, but I wasn't really that excited. And so now for the second straight season, 365 days later on at the exact same spot.
The offensive line looks better, but it's five new guys. The wide receivers look better, but it's a lot of rookies. I don't like to Sean Watson. Just point blank there. There you go. The defense, you lost Jim Schwartz, who has really, really high on. And I even thought that they should give him a real legitimate look to be head coach this year and he'll lost miles scared. And as good as shared versus going to be this year, you can't replace that guy. So I'm now for another season. And I think it's just compounding on me to where I'm just at a point I feel like where I'm just so neutral about everything that I just don't I might my level of care for the wins and losses and how things go. It's just on the floor. Yeah. I mean, I like I mentioned earlier in the show like I've accepted the quarterback situation for what it is. I don't think the teams can be very good this year. I don't think it'll be awful. Like everyone who's talking about them, like they're going to be with the worst teams in the league. I completely disagree. Why? I mean, there's there's nothing that they've given me throughout training camp to show
me that they are not going to be a four to five win team. Okay. You and I have different like definitions of that though. Like I think if there are five and six win team, like you would consider that they're not going to be like a two three win team. They're too talented. They're going to be the easiest schedule in football. Their talent alone will win them games this year with just adequate quarterback play, which they're not going to get awful quarterback play in every single game. So like if you can go about that one every single game, but like I mean, they've received a strong watch and then bills game. I saw him in the Bears game too though. Yeah. I mean, he didn't look at it. He didn't look great. He was competent. Yeah, he was competent, but how am I supposed to know that the defense is like again, everybody's just sort of like setting and forgetting the defense like there haven't been side of the changes. You mentioned the defensive line that it's very thin. Like that's not a recipe for it to be a top five defense to where you just have find enough quarterback playing win a bunch of games six to three. Okay. Well, yeah, but if De Chant's bad, he's just going to they're just going to put she door and like she door will be at least a look.
She door had a 350 arpasting game master that they lost. Yeah, but that was like start number four. Okay. He couldn't beat out to Sean Watson. Dude, he could. Watson literally got boot off the field. We also at that. That's not we're like, Pete should or still could not win that game. So that competition. But what I'm saying though is they still won five games last year. And I understand they had Miles Garrett and you're putting Jared Versa in where yes, he's not Miles Garrett, but he's still going to help. Like this defense is still good enough. I think to limit other offenses, especially ones you're going to play this year, Anthony, they play the jets this year. They play the Raiders probably with a rookie quarterback. They play Tennessee this year who talked about an offense that did not look good in the preseason. I mean, there's a reporter that doesn't allow to go to games anymore because he went at cam ward. But like, I mean, they played some of those games last year. I know the schedule is a lot easier than last year, but it's not like they had a first place schedule last season. But what I'm saying though is they're still going to win games this year, whether they're too talented, not to like there's going to be a game where they can just run the ball and they'll run for 250 yards maybe.
And they'll be able to win a game 17 13 or 13 10 like there's going to be games this year that they are going to win just because they're more talented than the other team. Like look at the truly like worst teams in the league, the dolphins, the Cardinals, the Browns are better than those teams. They will win more football games this year than those teams. I think they'll win more games than the jets. But okay, are we splitting hairs between like two and four? Like because that doesn't seem you know, the Cardinals over under right now is three and a half. The Browns over under five and a half. But when you're talking about needing a rookie quarterback next year, it definitely matters. I'm just talking about like how this season's going to pan out. Well, yeah, but I mean, it's looking like another four to five win season, just like I felt like last year. Anthony, I think it's black and white. There's playoff teams and there's not playoff teams. Like if you're not a playoff team, the Steelers when they missed the playoffs at eight and nine are just are the same team as the one who just went three and 14 to me. Like it's to me, it's black and white. Like and I understand like that's that's sounds crazy. But like you still miss the playoffs.
So like you're still going into the next season with, okay, we got to try to make the playoffs this year or do whatever like every team comes in and hopes brings eternal. But if they win eight, if they go eight and nine this year or seven and 10, if I will set the bar here, if they're in the playoff hunt photo in week 17, not even the final week of the season. The topic of the graphic. Yeah. Todd Monkins coming back. You have to give a serious look at whoever the quarterback is for 2027. Things are clearly trending in the right direction. But if they end the season with seven wins. And so that's not the same thing to me as if they go four to five as to where like, yes, they're more talented, but they're that that much further away than they were last year. I feel like they are still significantly further away from even being an eight win team. I don't think they're that far. I disagree with you there. Like this team has talent. Like they're not deep at all. Like and that is entirely fair. Like it's not a deep team. They get injuries this year. It could go downhill extremely fast.
They will not win a lot of games. But Anthony, they're 22 starters are pretty good. They're pretty good, but a lot of them are very young. Yeah, but they're still like, they're still good. And you're talking about last year's rookie class. Now in their second year, you're hoping to see good things out of the rookies this year to understand their rookies, but we're optimistic. Again, nobody's asking for top to your quarterback play for these guys because you're, you just know you're not going to get it. Can they just be adequate? Can they go in there? Can they protect the ball? Can they keep the chains moving? Can they execute the offense? I look, if to Shaw Watson can't do it, they're going to take him out. Like they're not going to have him play all year. They'll shift to Shedore who I think probably can do it. And maybe he'll have some games where he'll probably lose you games. He might have some games where he, you know, puts you in a position and then they find a way to screw it up somewhere else. Like I'm not trying to, I'm not saying that you're wrong. I just think we can be a little bit more optimistic. Like this is not a three-win football team.
They're not that bad. They're not going to be that bad because how did they get worse from last season? And they, yeah, they lost Miles Garrett. They got a damn good player back in Jared verse who is not Miles Garrett, but that's still, like it's not that significant of a drop off that you're saying they're going to go be like three games worse than they were last year. No, I, I, I, so in what way are they going to be? They're going to be worse than last year when they won five games. I believe that they're going to win four games this season because the quarterback play is the worst. One of the worst in all of football. But it was that bad last year, Anthony won five games. Right. You're saying they're going to win four? I mean, they're going to get worse. We're split. I'm splitting hairs here, man. I, that's, that's basically, you know, if Aaron Rogers doesn't get scared of Miles Garrett, if one play goes wrong here and then another play goes right there, like you're, if, if you're a five-win team, I'm not feeling anymore. Optimistic at the end of the day than if there were four win team. Well, no, of course not. But like, I just, I don't think it's wrong to think this team could win six seven games.
Let him. I, I don't think, I don't think that that is an incorrect thing because that's just natural progression. And I understand Miles Garrett's not here anymore. I think people are way overdoing the defensive coordinator thing. Yeah, guys, Jim Schwartz was fine. Jim Schwartz also lost this team games last year. He lost them the Tennessee game. He lost them the, was he throwing the football? Was he calling the plays on offense? Was he making the final decisions as a head coach? No, but so then how do you lose them in the game? Because the defense lost them the Tennessee game. The deep, the defense lost them that game. You give up 30 something points to cam ward. I know other team did that. They couldn't stop the run. Tony Pollard just scored again. So because of that, they were just not, hey, totally agree with the, with the defensive line and the whole running back there. I totally agree with that. But what just because cam ward scored 30 points, we shouldn't have at least given him a serious look at sticking around or literally held out to the point where we had to force him into retirement. I had no interest in Jim Schwartz sticking around as a head coach to this team.
Why, why, why would you want that? I mean, how's two straight years of the top five defense on the team that wins four games and five games in consecutive seasons? What are three games and five games in consecutive seasons? Like that. Anthem, I believe we're in players over coaches more or less. Like at the end of the day, the players have to do the playing. A lot of the playing is going to be done by the same players and there's really a player. Miles Garrett. Yes, he is possibly the greatest defensive player who's ever lived by the time he's all said and done like whatever. He actually may be. But like Jared verse was not a bad return. He's still going to do his job on that. Yes, he's not going to be Miles Garrett, but he's still going to put up good numbers. Can you at least admit that they're going to take someone of a step back as the defense? Sure. I still think they'll be a top 10 defense. Okay. And they were, that's where they were last year. Like that. I still think that they're going to have no you don't think that they're going to take a step back. If there's somewhere in the, again, Spindares, if they're five or seven, that's not a difference for me. So you don't think that they're going to take that much of a step back whatsoever. Bar, if they're healthy, no. Okay. Well, I mean, that's, you know, you never know with that.
You got a dance award. They've just got another concussion. Like I don't want you coming at me at the end of the year when they're 25th and Densel Ward got her and Jared verse got her and they had all these injuries. And we were literally playing backups all year and they were the 25th. You're the one that told me their thing. I'm just over the place. They are. Who's playing opposite on corner? Who's playing opposite Densel Ward this year? Tyson Campbell. That's good. That's not great. Like I, you know, like there's a lot of question marks here. They're, they're still a lot of question marks. They had another good draft, but it's not like they drafted 53 new players. Like I, I don't, I do not see they're going to be better. Absolutely. You still have the worst quarterback room in the league. Okay. Let's, let's do this. I got it. I got it. It's all right. You're good. I'm very Schmidt. Makes a kid. That's how you say that last name. In week one. They win that game against the Bengals. If the defense, who by the way, you were so hyped up about with gym force, doesn't let Carson Wence walk them down the field to end the game.
They win the game and London against the Vikings. I mean, that, that, go ahead. The, that defense you talked about with gym shords. They got walked down the field by the Corkson. The season as a top defense. Like I, yes, you're going to bad games. You're also going to have good games on office. You're going to bad games on offense. But the fact that they've had the majority bad games on offense, like I, I don't know if you're overvaluing Mike Rootenberg in the defense or if you're overvaluing to Sean Watson and Shadour Sanders. If Shadour Sanders was that talented, he'd been the starting quarterback next week. I don't disagree. Anthony, I'm not saying this team's going to win 10 games. I've said can they win six games? At yes, of course they are seven games. Yes, I think they can be saying that what four games one, we're going one game either way. That's the same general landscape as last season where they won five games. I, I don't see a world where they only win four games. Like because I, I think you're saying that the only way they do that is if to Sean Watson plays, first of all, poorly, which I'm not saying isn't expected.
But I guess there's a chance for the opposite. He plays poorly and then he plays like 12 weeks. Well, I don't think he's going to play 12 weeks. But again, how am I supposed to have any confidence in Shadour Sanders? Because he didn't beat out to Sean Watson. I think you saw it last year. They won three games with Shadour Sanders, not playing well. He didn't play well in like any of the games they won and they still won three games. They're playing some bad teams this year. Anthony and I understand the Browns aren't going to be great. But like you're telling me they can't beat the Raiders at home coming off of buy with a rookie quarterback. I don't know. I mean, for Nana Mendoza seems like pretty damn good guy. I understand they don't play well in New York, specifically against the Jets oddly enough, but like they're playing the Jets. They play the Titans this year. Like you still play the division. They're going to find a way probably to get the Steelers once. You just you have too many first and too many key situations and too many question marks for me to truly believe that they're going to get any better than that four to six win range. That they're going to get any like yes, they're going to take steps forward as an organization and as a team and the young players are going to develop.
But we know what the quarterback is Todd Monkin has never been a head coach in the NFL before Mike. Roonberg has never been a defensive coordinator in the NFL before like there's there's so many different things that we can say like yeah, if they just get adequate quarterback play, we didn't see adequate quarterback play all last year. And the preseason is one thing, but the last time I saw everybody out, well, no, that great. All right, we got to go two one six four seven four 0092. We'll continue this conversation. Isaac and Michael get to you. Stay on hold is what I don't even know what we're going to do next. We totally this up. That's on me. Oh, just on Watson. Do you really think he's going to have a two game hook? It's Anthony Atlanta, Michael Markcotch on 92 through the fan. We're talking a little bit of win expectations, expectations because this is the week of the start of the NFL season. Games kick off Wednesday night and then the Browns down in Jacksonville. Does it kind of suck opening up with Jacksonville? As someone who travels with the team, yes. Oh, congratulations on all your success.
I will be at the game. I'm just like not. I've wanted one of these Florida games in like November. You are a fair skinned and, you know, you're very, you're very ginger. So what are you saying with the man? He's it's a good. I hope the booth is shaded. That's all I'm saying. I or you could be down in the field. I'm on the field. Oh God. You're going to come back. Cherry tomato red. That is hilarious. Sun kissed. Sun kissed as they say. All right. Let's get out to a couple of calls. Let's go to Isaac is in Shaker Heights. What's going on, man? How you guys doing? Happy Labor Day, please. Happy Labor Day. What's going on? Just got a question. I'm wondering. I'm just thinking I know the science play has actually dictated there how people with this like him as far as what he did. But I've seen he played quite well against Baltimore last year. I mean, then also I wanted to ask the question. So with with your brothers, who would you start and what and what here's my question?
What do you not like about the Sean Watson and what do you not like about Jerry? Judy, I should say. And because it seems like whatever they do, you're just on a lot of people don't like them. I'm not going to say you, but just people. And I don't know your particular opinion on it. That's why I'm asking. So what do you not like about the Sean and give me a chance to respond to you if you don't mind. I mean, I'll be real quick. I know you got other callers. So what do you not like about the the Sean and what do you not like about Judy? And if you had your brothers, who would you start? So Isaac, I guess I'll put it this way when it comes to the Sean as much as like, I don't the off the field stuffs, whatever. Like that's a separate component for me. I don't like to shrunk. He's not good at football. He has not played well for the Browns in four years. He has not even remotely close to lived up to the contract that they paid him. And the fact that it was fully guaranteed. If to show lots and play good football, I'd be willing to overlook some of the off
the field stuff. The problem is he hasn't and he hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy since he's been here. So he hasn't been available. He hasn't been good when he has been on the field. And for that, it kind of has to then bring the off field stuff into it as well. And the fact that, you know, he hasn't exactly, um, uh, it warmed himself up to the city and the fans. I understand that what you said, all the stuff that he said, but the first thing you said immediately was, you're not concerned about as off the field stuff, but then you mentioned it again. So I think it's, I think it's in there. It has to matter because he hasn't played football. I think it's very hypocritical of everybody to think about off the field stuff. Uh, when we look at off the field stuff in other aspects of life, we want him to get into that. So I think that's very hypocritical. And I think that is on the field. Place should be and you never answered you either. Uh, but so it's on the field. Place should dictate what we actually think of him. And I can give you that because he has stuck up the place and you're missing this
contract. It wasn't here. They got the money. The browns gave him the money. Anybody would have took the money. I can understand he's not living up to plan for the money, but that's not it. It's all that's the browns wall for paying them. All right, Isaac. But I got you. Yeah. Appreciate the phone call. Go ahead. You want to go ahead? Well, no, I'm sorry, Isaac. As I, as I said, though, it's just one of those things where like when Dishon plays as bad as he has, it brings the off the field stuff back into the picture, right? Because for, for players throughout time that have had off the field problems, you look at Ben Rothlesberger, right? He played well. He won Super Bowl. So despite all this baggage off the field, the guy played well. What about Jerry Judy? What's that you about Jerry Judy? I don't, I think we had a decent conversation where I said I'm willing to give Jerry Judy a second chance. Oh, yeah. Then maybe that's something I don't. I just don't like people. Jerry Judy as much of the people. My issue with Jerry Judy was I just thought like, man, show like you care a little bit. Yeah, I think it was the lack of care.
The drops of the lack of self-awareness is like, oh, I'm not getting targeted. But you're dropping every pass that is targeted at you. And then airing the locker room dirty laundry to the media. Like, yeah, that gives us as talk show host stuff to talk about. But like, that's not okay. It's not being a team player. I just want you to care. Like care about the team, care about the city, care about the fans and they'll love you back. That's all I say. But like I said, when it comes to the Dishon thing, like, no, I don't, the off the field stuff is, it's a separate thing that I can kind of put in other box and not really have to worry about. But when Dishon Watson doesn't play well, the noise from the off the field stuff comes back into play. That's the way this works. But you don't play well. It's just another kind of, you know, mark against him. All right, Mike is in Brunswick. What's going on, man? Thanks for taking my phone, guys. Yep. So yeah, he has a way longer track record of playing bad than he does. Did a playing good and it's current like the last five years, six years, if you count the two years, they didn't play in Houston.
So that's why you're not on expectations of him. So I was wondering what your guys thoughts are. Someone coming in without playing good for so long. What kind of leash he's going to have on him as far as like looking to put your door in. Is that like a half game? Do they give him two games? Like if if you if we average maybe 10 points again through the first two games, it'd be hard for me to see them marching him out there at home. All right, Mike. Yeah, I appreciate the phone call. I will give you a quick answer and then we got to run a break and we'll fully answer it afterwards. Zach Jackson of the athletics said his over under right now is 10 and a half quarters for Dishon Watson. So just keep that in mind. Do you have a quick snappy thing before we head off? I'll save it. We'll get into it next segment. Okay. So I'll answer Mike's question as well. Bob and Dan get to you. It's Anthony Atlanta and Michael Markock on 92 through the fan.
