1:00an executive's wardrobe during a press availability? Was that going too far? Yes absolutely 100% that was going too far. I mean my goodness this this woman is so intelligent. She speaks I think four languages. She's a great talent evaluator. She's got three young children and she's got three young children and I'm sure that the last thing on her mind when she left the house in the morning was making sure that she had the perfect appropriate outfit on that Twitter was going to love. I mean it's just ridiculous and then if one person makes the comment then everybody has to pile on and that's just a world that we live in right now but I think it's horrible because she's just a fantastic personnel executive and any team would be just thrilled to have her. Kenny, should we feel bad platforming a discussion like that

2:00in the first place? No. For those that want to go back and use the rewind function of the app. There's a public press conference there was conversation about it. We let both sexes in to talk about it. I thought I felt that it was responsible. I think Marikay was the fact that more so the language on the sweatshirt than the word. I think that's actually true because if we were to say, well, I don't know. Cause that said Los Angeles. Right. It had Los Angeles written on there. So we were wondering well, you know, we were trying to draw conclusions about the miles Garrett trade basically. I can I can almost promise you that she didn't give a whole bunch of thought to what she put on in the morning but I'm guessing that she was probably thinking a whole lot about how to do that. I think that's what she's talking about. About talent evaluation and all the other things that she does. And she does very well. So if it was, you know, I have to wonder if

3:00a man had something on that people didn't absolutely love. Would it have taken off like that? I you know, I don't know. Well, it depends on like when it comes to other hosts and stuff like that on the fan we rip them all the time for what they appearing on YouTube. So I think that's where a haters go to hate and I just feel really bad that somebody that intelligent that accomplished would have to deal with something like this when she comes out to talk to us and give thoughts on the roster and things like that. It's just it's really unfortunate. Well, let me ask you this. So did a raise your eyebrows when Dylan Gaber on it up on the IR seem rather convenient to some fans. Yeah, it did. It raised a little bit of eyebrows for me for sure. But they found a way to, you know, to keep all four quarterbacks for right now and to delay this decision on what to do with Taylor and Green because he is absolutely an intriguing prospect and he can do so many

4:00things if once he's ready. So yeah, it did. But whatever, you know, whatever it takes. And yes, I'm sure he did hurt his back, of course. But it also was nice and convenient. For them should they consider should they have considered the fans opinion when picking their starting quarterback? Lime and I. As much as we are fans and we get along with the fans, we still said no, Mike Floreo thinks different. Mike Floreo said yes, they should have considered the fans reaction when they made their choice. Well, certainly this is a very unique situation because this is not like anything any of us have ever seen before where the town just hates the quarterback or really dislikes the quarterback. It seems. So this is different. But no, I don't think that Todd Munkin should have taken into account the fan reaction. And I like the fact that he has stuck to his guns on that. And who would he be as an NFL head coach if he's going

5:02to be swayed by the fans opinion? I mean, the fans wanted Johnny Man's Elves to start right away. And the fans wanted Johnny Man's El all the way through, right? And was that the wisest decision at that time? Or perhaps should Brian Hoyer have continued on that season? You don't do with the fans want or don't want. That's not how you conduct business. All right, Mary Kay with us right now as you have gotten a chance to get the up close and personal looking into Todd Munkin in his first year as an NFL head coach, a decision like Dishon over Shedore. Certainly going to be the biggest. But how do you feel like he's doing with all the other little intricacies that revolve around this football team? Well, I think he's actually doing a great job so far. I think when I look at even the press conference, the interview that Dishon did after the bills game, that was a tough thing to navigate after that. And I thought he came

6:02out the next day, Todd. And I thought he did a phenomenal job of backing his quarterback and taking the temperature down on that very volatile situation. I just thought he had to get really, really well. That was a tough one. And I think the message that he's sending it for them is, you know, togetherness, close ranks, family, and then he preaches this all the time. It eliminates anything that gets in the way of winning football. And I think that's a guiding light for him. And there are going to be bumps in the road. There always are for first time head coaches. When you think about what he's had to deal with so far, they've traded miles here. Their number two edge rusher suffered a rupture to killies. They're potential, we're not the potential now. But at the time, their potential starting quarterback is at war with the fan base. These are big issues that he has to deal with. They thought about hiring some really,

7:02really young and inexperienced football coaches to lead this team this year. And I don't know if some of those young guys would have been able to navigate and handle some of these big issues. Handling adversity is probably, in my mind, the number one thing that you have to deal with as a head football coach in the NFL. It is not easy. They don't know the full impact of it until they get in that chair. They don't realize how many fires that they have to put out on a daily basis. And so far, I think he's done a really great job. How soon could Parker Brails for an Austin Barber be a part of the starting offensive line? Well, I mean, Austin, possibly even by the opener, the way that Todd Monkin was talking about it this week and last week, and Parker Brailsford, they love him. They absolutely love him. But he was set back by a wrist injury throughout camp. So he's going to need a little bit of time. And I don't know that you want three rookies on your line right away,

8:03but I could certainly see it in the second half of the season. They love all of these guys. All right. What is the role going to be, at least at the start of the season, for somebody like Taylan Green? Is it just going to be, to kind of be on the team, not necessarily active on game days? Or are they going to do everything they can to get him on the field, and also for those red zone touches that we've been salivating over? Well, like we've said before, they've bought themselves some time to see what they can do, to see what he can offer and contribute. And now, I mean, they just really didn't have time to deal with him very much in training camp. And while they were busy with their two-way quarterback competition, I wrote a story about this this week that he was taking copious notes. He was doing walk-throughs in his hotel room. He was prepping for the next day with his new wife. I mean, this is a young man that works his absolute tail off. And when you have that kind of work ethic and the kind of intelligence that he has,

9:03then you can't put a cap or a ceiling on that. These guys can come up the learning curve very, very quickly. So if he can demonstrate over the next three or four weeks, that he can go out there and handle spot duty in a very critical situation, I think they'll do it. And it will also give the opposing defense of coordinator something to think about. So, yeah, I would be aiming towards seeing if you can get him in a game to convert a fourth and one or score a touchdown on the goal line or something like that. All right, Mary-Kale. Let's turn to Shadour Sanders losing this quarterback battle. But still being ready to go in any moment and knowing that could happen in week one. Something like that. It's kind of new territory for him. I remember last year, reporters were still hounding him for quotes, for sound bites. Even when he was the third string quarterback, you know, after games, is that experience going to be similar this year or do you think he'll kind of step away

10:04be out of the limelight and the reporters aren't going to bother him? You know, I don't know if pounding him is the right way to describe that. I know that he was approached here and there a couple of times. But I don't think pounding is accurate in that regard. And I was there most of the time. So I think that he's just an approachable young man. He likes to talk. He likes to engage. He likes to deal with, you know, media. I mean, he's just, he grew up that way. So he would occasionally talk to reporters when, you know, maybe he, you know, he hadn't played or there was no real reason to talk to him. But I don't think pounding is correct. I think he's just someone that enjoys interaction with other human beings and therefore opens himself to that kind of thing sometimes. Do you think Todd Munkins running maybe a tighter ship and is kind of making sure that everybody is to be maybe seen and not heard unlike it was under Kevin Stofanski,

11:04where over time you would hear maybe something from somebody or like a Judevian clowny in the past. You think it's a little bit different under Todd Munkin or is he still giving the players all the ability in the world to let their voices be heard if they want? Well, first of all, it must be remembered right now. We have not had an open locker room yet. We absolutely have not had that experience. And that's a game changer, right? Right now we're in a situation where they'll bring one or two guys to the podium and if you want someone else to do a longer feature about then you have to make a request and you know, so whatever. We have not had access to very many players yet on a regular basis. So we'll have to see how that goes. But I think that Todd Munkin is going to let these guys be themselves. That's my prediction that he's not going to shut them down. He's not going to try to censor them or anything like that. I think he will always preach, protect the team in every way.

12:05But I don't think he's going to put the clamps on them. Mary Kay Cabot joining us on the show. What are they doing to get themselves acclimated? Yeah, back to back weeks, Don and Florida. It's going to be muggy like it is right now. I know he's thankful that it's been muggy here this week and really, really hot. What else are they doing to get themselves ready? Well, I think, you know, just Mother Nature, like you said, Mother Nature helped them more than anything. They needed those sweltering days. It was so hot out there yesterday that it had to be hard. To be practicing in that weather because it was just hard to be even standing out there watching practice in that intense heat. So that was helpful to them this week. Other than that, there's nothing else much that they can do. They're taking three days off for Labor Day weekend. And I'm sure every single coach just crosses his fingers and helps that everybody is safe. I'm sure they will preach that when they send them forth today. Take care of yourself, take care of each other and then come back ready to go because it is a go time when they come back on Monday.

Welcome back to the show. How you doing? I thought I could kick off the air or something. Might have said something. It was not easy to find or something. I'm doing something. It was David Buster's kicking you off for the day. John Love line. Yeah, well, I think they were still accepted business right. You might not be able to get there right. Hey, in five to ten years, he'll be out back at David Buster's in no time. All right, so I was actually, we're actually going to start a little bit about the rain. I was actually, we're actually going to start a little bit about the Rams here. I was saying about the Rams with Aaron Donald on retiring in the McDuffy and Garrett trade. I was the only other teams I can think of that have this much pressure going on into the season were Tom Brady's first bucks team and then the three pete attempt of the Kansas City Chiefs. You didn't have any other team in recent history that have had as much pressure as the Rams have going into the season.

15:13I mean, I think like the Rams themselves sort of had that going into 21. No, like, you know, you had, they've been all in for a few years and then they make the huge trade it for Stafford. And I don't think like people had a real idea of how good Stafford was at the time. But that was a risk, you know, and then you're moving off of a guy that you drafted first overall. A guy that led you to a Super Bowl and Jared Gough. You know, there was a press, there was a pressure on a lot of you, big loss, Brandon Stanley. They brought in Raheem Morris and really traded for Von Miller in season. So that wasn't like at the same junctures all this, but I, you know, I do think they have a little bit of experience that way. I have to really think about that. You know, I guess like he's a look, go back a look at the Manning Broncos as like a team that obviously gambled big. And they finally went in his fourth year there.

16:13The dream team Eagles in 2011, which I mean, that was sort of the beginning of the end for Andy Reed, the failure of that team, but sort of the first brick in the wall and get fired. So we've seen it. I mean, over the reds, get the teams and Daniel Siders early years where they put together like, you know, the all-frored team from five years earlier when they have like, Dion and Bruce Scott all those guys. So we've seen it. But yeah, I mean, I tell you like this is a really interesting scenario because I think the high potential of so many these guys, I didn't want to be that sort of interesting but the ramps too. Because they have like some young players who are going into contract years as part of this too. I'm going to go and go return her by her job. Alright, Albert, one of the big talking points all week long is how much time D'Shawn is going to get. We know he's the starter, but it seems like a lot of fans believe it's only going to be a couple weeks. I tend to think that the Browns will take this longer than fans think. It's going to be undeniable to them that D'Shawn is not the version that he wasn't used to before they make a change.

17:16How many weeks do you see it before the Browns feel like they'd make a change in your estimation? Well, I mean, I think it depends on how well you play. I mean, if this is a train rack and like now you're looking at like coming back into a cauldron in week three, and it's going to affect your entire team, I think you have to talk about it then. If it's not and like he continues to be the best option, I can't think of too many people to know that don't think you're the best option. Like people who have actually seen it, people who are in the Browns building, people who are coached against that in the summer. I can't find too many people that don't think D'Shawn is the best answer right now. You know, so it's just appraising. It's just okay. If it's good, obviously, it'll keep in there. So I still think a lot of it depends on how well he plays, how well the team is playing. I mean, like you look at the first two weeks, they're lining up a jack-and-doll team that won 13 games a year ago.

18:21I think it's still going to be pretty good. And then they have, you know, a camp who has made the playoffs, made the playoffs five years in a row before last year and had bigger bands. And you look pretty good. You know, I think D'Shawn's probably under the right to keep the job for at least a little while longer. Albert, it's great to catch up with you, buddy. 22:35Yeah, I think the additions I'm giving them tons of credit for going out and doing something. And I think they've definitely paid off. It's linked in their lineup substantially. And Griffin's been, I mean, good outside of one start. And I mean, they have that they have argued the best rotation in the American League. And that's why I'm never going to count them out. Yeah, yeah, their offense isn't crazy good, but you got Jose Ramirez who started to swing it. Steven Kwan has recovered from the early slide. And I mean, I think you've got to be, you got to be positive when you look at this team right now. I'm not understanding that they're three behind the white socks. I expected the white socks to go away a long time ago. And I guess that's not going to happen. So I don't know if the divisions. I think the division is still in play. But I think they're better avenue would be wild card. Chris MLB.com has a story out now, 10 most impactful trade deadline moves. And they have the Joe Adele move as the sixth most impactful. And I like all the moves they made at the trade deadline.

23:46But I think Adele's really been a nice addition. How has he been? And he seems like he's completely bought into the idea of being in Cleveland. Oh, yeah, from day one, basically, he was talking like he'd been here all season long. Um, but the playoff push actually so was low too. Um, but yeah, he's just, I mean, they haven't had a guy who can change a game changer outside of Jose Ramirez for a long time. And he definitely put him in the middle of that lineup. I mean, he's obviously he hit over 40 homers last year. I think it was. Um, but he's definitely been a great addition and how does he start to see pitches again because he's a, he's a threat and. Quant hitting so yeah, but Joe Adele is definitely been like you said, all of the moves were, I mean, I'm guessing that people around the league. Um, and I have heard some of them, you know, tipping their cap to the to the Guardian for the music pulled off and Joe Adele was at the top of that list for sure.

24:52Um, do you want to go back to last night just for a second because I do think that every game is crucial. I don't think it's the end of the world. And even if they lose today, it's not the end of the world. But you know, they decide, you know, we're going to give Roqueo the night off. And now who's done some great things and like, I can't get mad at him. I can't get mad. I can't really get mad at anybody, but they did make a decision last night. It's like one of those things are like, whatever they should have done that last night. So I mean, I know it's one game and a one 62 season, but just your thoughts on on last night in what Jeff and Jeff had said he had been on the radio in Canada and Toronto and just saying they just consider this like the most important series of the season for them at least. Right, right. Well, I guess that's it in their chasing. So yeah. Um, are you saying that putting Roqueo on the bench and coming in now? And I know he struggled with the plate last month. And I can't get it. I was just going to say, I mean, there's every possibility that if Roquey, Roquey keeps struggling like this and how keeps hitting it.

25:53It might it might not just be for one night. I mean, yeah, and this kid just don't know. I mean, he's legit. It sure looks like he is. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but it sure looks like he is and I mean, gets up the other day and pinch it. Never pinch it before in his life and first pitch. Banger to last year was there. I mean, he doesn't look overwhelmed either. So, but I don't think not, but like you said, though, every game is important. You know, you can you can say that all you want. But as these games dwindle down and you got to stop saying that, you know, like, it's not the end of the world. It's not the end of the world. Well, when you're in your chain, if you have the central vision title in your on your rate hours, then it definitely is every game matters. And really every game does matter. You know, I mean, no problem building the three game leading the wild card. You know, you can't go out there and have your picture or your catcher.

26:54It's funny as it is throwing, you know, in a game that actually made something that you can laugh at it now, like gas because there's still, I don't know, 20 games left. But you don't want to see that five games from now. It's for sure. Chris Austin, I'm joining us covers the Guardians for the Chronicle Telegram. You know, a move because it was made early. We don't talk about as much as his Patrick Bailey coming in here. He's been he's fun to watch behind the plate and he plays with a little bit of a little bit of pizzazz Chris that I like a lot. Man, that guy, that guy is really, I mean, he's really spunky. I've talked about even maybe signing him long term. Yeah, I mean, why not? If they're going to go, if they're not going to have a guy that's going to be up there hidden and that's why they have them there. Yeah, like the Mike's in the no project of a while back that didn't work out so well. Yeah, I mean, if you're going to, if you're going to accept that, then it will what better to have them to the top defensive catchers in the major leagues.

27:56And the knock on him, like as you know, was that's why they got rid of him in San Francisco was because they wanted more offense from the position. And since he's gotten here, I mean, he's hit like he actually can hit in the majors. So that's been great because edges is actually doing the same thing. You haven't lost anything. And like you said, yeah, he is. He's got another guy who came here and just pretty much acted like he was here from day one. I think you're talking about the spunk when I mean one incident was obviously when the dude tried to lay down the font against Gavin Williams. And he got in his face. Yeah, he can't do that. You know, this is my teammate, bro. And going, yeah. But yes, Patrick Bailey, yes, he's a man. I mean, he's done everything they've asked of him and actually exceeded expectations with the bat. He's young too. Like I think we forget about that. Right. You know, we just assume because you played for another team. I think people think he's been around for a while, but he's still young. But this is another point that I was bringing up because I was listening to Steven vote talk about his young players in like a canal last night.

29:06And I think we also forget that vote is still relatively young in this game. He may have gotten some seasoning, but as far as his managerial length, there's got to be nights. You know, he's still learning along the way. He's got a great crew guys around him, but I think sometimes we forget that he's still a young manager. No, that's true, but we I mean, he also was a player. So I mean, he's got that. And I don't think he's going to lose his mind because he does have that playing experience. And he was always considered, you know, that veteran captain kind of guy. So he was kind of a manager during his plane, at least an assistant coach during his plane career. And certainly at the end of it. Yeah, he's not. I mean, like any manager, there's going to be times when you're going to question some of his moves and things like that. But I've always been a guy. This goes back to Tito and I got an argument about this all the time, but you got guys sitting in your couch and you know, all that would a terrible move. What's he doing? What an idiot?

30:11Yeah, he's going to be a whole thing manager. I mean, yeah, I'm fighting with those guys every time over the couch guy. Tell him the story. Tell him a story. Was Dick Jacobs told you? Oh, yeah, talking to Mr. Jacobs many, many years ago. And great guy. I always like talking to him. And I think they just hired Mike as manager. And I asked him something goes, I found the two men that men think the every man, man thinks they can do two things better than every other guy. One is grill a steak and the others manage your baseball team. I think I heard that some of it. I think that was a close to get out there. But yeah, definitely. That's definitely right. And you can throw some more grilling products on there too. Absolutely. But yeah, absolutely. Everybody's a grill master and everybody's a manager, right? You talked about her now. I like him too. He looks really good. We like Buzana. I'm sure you like Buzana. I like Roqueo. Is Jose Ramirez long term at third base? Or do you think he's closing in on D.H. Because Chris, that might open up an opportunity where they can slide somebody over there. I think Jose is still playing a pretty good third base. I can't think D.H. Ed. Can you?

31:28Well, I mean, that's interesting. You brought that up. I certainly wasn't so you just posed that right there. But yeah, I can definitely see that. I mean, Jose's shown signs. And I'm not saying that, you know, oh my god, he's falling off or he, but he has shown signs. I mean, it's not shown a whole lot of power this year. And you know, maybe it would be good to get him. I just think that it would be so hard to ask. I don't think you would be happy with that in any way, shape or form just D.H. I can't see Jose over there sitting in the dog out just waiting to bat and just it doesn't seem right, but you're right. I mean, it would open up a spot where all three of those guys could play. And he still keep posing in the line up. But I think it's going to be a tough sell to him. And there's certainly not going to ask him something to do something. He doesn't want to. I mean, he turned that right here. So I think it would be a more of a thing where he that that he would be against it rather than them actually considering it.

32:37You think they're locked in on Roqueo at short. And do you think Bazzana could play left could Bazzana play a little third? Does he have that arm for third? I guess. So I'm, you know, I don't know if they're locked in on Roqueo. I think if you asked, you know, a couple months ago, they probably would have said yes, but that's the thing about baseball is now the guy hit under 200 and he looks like the same old Roqueo at the plate. Yeah. But in the past, he's given you some great play in quite situation. Real solid. It's kind of hard. Yes. And really good defense too. Yeah. But if you're asking me if that's something that if you're, if I have to pick two from the three middle infielders, I mean, right now I'm probably not not going to choose Brian Roqueo.
