We'll take a look of course at UNI and what they've done through their first two games against Eastern Washington and Drake, year two of the Todd Steps this era. Also, I guess we'll call it two Hawkeye highlights in a way. We'll hear from Iowa's new punter Boston Everett, really impressive debut for him so far through two games as a Hawkeye. A special correspondent that will be helping us out here throughout the rest of the season will have a couple of appearances from him as we go through 2026. Of course, Rebecca's got a weather first forecast that it might not be great just telling

3:09you now. Wednesday, hopefully things can shift but we'll take a look at that as well. But we will start by team it up courtesy of pin social with a test for a young team that they certainly passed on Saturday, a 16-13 win. Caden Boer, your big 10 special teams player of the week, three field goals including that game one or with 15 seconds to play. But a physical match up with Jimmy Rogers and company coming off his debut as Cyclone's coach the weekend before, but of course has a division one experience at the FCS level without the Coda State and then going into his one year at Washington State. A lot of guys have followed him. They've been in his system. They provided a heck of a test for the Hawkeyes and they talked about just what it meant to have a game like that that early in the season with the team looking to prove something but as we'll hear afterward, maybe it came at a cost. Coach Firence immediately said that after the game like we're going to be in games like that, you know, down the season and like we've been in games like that in the past. I think as a young team, I think that was crucial for us to really see what we're made of.

4:12I think, you know, just like Coach said, we're going to be tested in those games along down the road and it's just we're going to have to be prepared to play those games weekend and week out. With a young team, you kind of need some adversity at times. Need something to not go your way a few times and see how you can push through it and getting down 10-0 against an in-state rival is tough. Any game is tough getting down 10-0 and fighting from behind but guys just continue to fight, continue to scrap, continue to claw and I give everyone credit on the team like to keep pushing through and yeah, to not give up. Like I have back up, I back up this hoodie, you know, who plays the hardest the longest and that's the biggest mono that Coach Firence says to us, you know, we didn't even start good for us. We was down 10-0 but everybody, nobody blinked, nobody flinched. We all just clawed back and we able to do our job to come out with a win. It gives the guys confidence that we are a gritty team and we know how to finish and I think like you said, it would be a lot easier if it was not a close game and we could have

5:13done that earlier on but being able to finish that one definitely gives us confidence at maybe the big 10 play and this week as well. But it's this week that Iowa is going to be missing some guys and it sounds like the one that's for sure or is close to it is DJ Vennami but you see him here at the end of the game against Iowa State. I was on the sidelines getting the reactions. You see there, it seems healthy. Abdel Hodge was the assistant coach on Zoom for Iowa today told reporters that it was something that happened during the game and maybe the adrenaline just hadn't sunk in until afterwards but Camarri Molten was also out, got banged up at the end of that one. Sounds like he's still day to day. LJ Phillips, you're going to see here in the pre-game if you're watching on YouTube. Not in the boot. Sounds like he has a slim chance of making it back for you and I but we'll see. And we still haven't seen Tyler Brown. Sounds like he's get back at practice doing some work but you know maybe the crown jewel of the defense of transfer portal for Iowa still hasn't been out there. Really hasn't been out there for fall camp or anything so we'll see if he's able to maybe make a debut against you and I but it's going to be Addison Ostranga.

6:16Sounds like maybe back to tight end one him or or worth or Thomas Meyer and then of course you got Xavier Williams in the back field. We saw what he did against Albany and Wisconsin last year and Nathan McNeal maybe he gets a little run, Braden Jackson you know in his short time in the open against North Illinois looked great but two games into this a hard fought battle of physical test against the cyclones. How are we feeling about you know DJ being out. Sounds like he's got a good chance to be back against the Wolverines there in Ann Arbor next week which is a 230 kick on CBS excited about that one but the injuries maybe piling up a little bit here through two games and certainly a physical game that you maybe we're going to have some some lingering effects afterwards. I mean I feel like at this point now is kind of the time for this to happen. Give us a week of recovery DJ right now again if we don't see him I think that's just going to be fair and looking forward because you and I it shouldn't be too much of a challenge

7:18for Iowa again they they're going to go out and attack they're not they're going to treat it like every other game but with that being said this isn't the week to rush injuries back into play so right now I don't think it's a huge concern heading into this week specifically looking in a next week if they're still down we're not seeing any movement then start to raise some flags. Yeah Michigan where this week I think they're they'd be playing it be really I think they be playing I don't I don't know I don't know if DJ what it's I mean it sounds like again like he didn't when they brought DJ there was you know there was a gasp in the press room there on Tuesday but it was just nothing that any but you know we'd heard that Camari been banged up a little bit. I guess my point was like we watched the stuff you can tough it out yeah like I maybe he's bruised and to me it just seems like they don't want to risk or they don't like I don't know is it an actual injury or is he banged up you know what I mean. Yeah again the way Abdual phrased it when he was asked during the the presser and I think like hawk central and some others have posted that full that full interview if you want

8:20to go find that wherever it was something that you know during the course of a game adrenaline can kind of take over and you don't realize anything because the question was like well did he get hurt like during Monday or Tuesday practice or you know did something like that happen it sounds like it's something lingering from Saturday but again if you're watching on YouTube you saw in the video like he's jumping for joy at the end it seemed like he was alright so yeah I'm not sure what exactly it was then is it it's just something that's he's they're protecting a little bit more than you would if it was Michigan we like it I'm not I don't want to accuse anyone of line but you wouldn't come out and say for the coaches we're gonna rest them because we don't need them in this game yeah can you just say he's banged up without giving specifics just to get him rest like that's what I'm hoping for I guess we'll see if it's like a actual you know injury that could risk the Michigan game but with with molten didn't they say on Saturday he was would have been good if the game continued or something like that I know he would hobbled off with it holding the show there but I can't remember exactly the terminology but it was I think it was a surprise that's surprise Kirk didn't seem to know about

9:23he's like oh I saw him in the locker when he seemed fine yeah so I don't it didn't seem too concerned but yeah to your point maybe it's just these these are bumps and bruises again that's a physical physical game sure yeah we can change topics after that but maybe we'll just do it now having now that we've gotten the chance to actually like watch the full game we didn't really get that chance because it was such a late night turn around do the podcast on on Sunday just more more impressed with Iowa State the more you watch that and just like the physicality that they brought and yeah you know it's hats off to them you know they're they're battered on their side too but that was just the type of game that you like to have but you just kind of have to accept the the casualty so to speak I guess of it yeah and they kind of got the worst end of the injury at least the guy for a year on you know in the field when you saw Evan James or not Evan James Evan Boyd is out for the year man I think I feel like three people in their secondary got hurt too and this is a team that last few years has had like all their linebackers go down every single year it's kind of rough for them but no I I think if if they're you know if there's question next week then

10:27you should really be concerned because those are key players that are out and hopefully I guess the good thing is you know no lineman I don't think that I saw we're we're kind of missing time so yeah but a physical game and looking forward Michigan we physical Ohio State is right after that so like you're hoping you don't see that again in the mission game so a good introduction to that physical play that you'll see in the in and out weekend and week out in the big 10 yeah just a quick little mention with molten and LJ going down that's kind of two biggest players are expecting this season this will also give the quarterbacks a little bit more practice passing because we haven't seen as much success there yet this season so I think this is a big opportunity for the quarterbacks to start connecting with receivers a little bit better again Tony Diaz has been phenomenal but there's Hank at least in the last game we saw it just a lot of not quite hitting his spots where he needs to over throws things like that this brings up another opportunity

11:30Tony maybe some of those second-third strings to go in think opportunity this week yeah and I think I mean I was state when you watch that full game I sell out on the run and all right like whichever quarterback you're gonna play there are the ones that gonna beat them I think having watched that game and I've watched every throw Hank Browns had in college going back to Maryland cleanup duty in the 23 music city bull is true freshman year the New Mexico game you'll hear from him a little bit about that statistically his best game that Auburn started he throws for 235 four touchdowns like awesome I think this was his best game in college overall because of the situational execution and stuff like that and we'll turn to that thank you to Penn Seekers for helping us tee it up there but the quarterback position for the first time in our boy since this battle really started only Hank Brown was available for the media on Tuesday no Jeremy Hick Linsky obviously didn't play at all on Saturday Kirk said when he was asked point blank as Hank your starter will he be likely starting

12:33on Saturday so we'll see what happens there but asked Hank just about his day his execution you'll hear a little bit more from Kirk here as well but I asked him about him do you feel like that was your your best game in college and wouldn't say that exactly but we'll give you a little listen to what he and Kirk had to say about the quarterback situation and what their expectations are going into Saturday it was a game that that was close and went 60 minutes and so I was proud of the way that we were able to pull it out at the end you know like you said New Mexico maybe would would have been statistically better but I think it was a well executed game but there's still you know some run checks that I got to do a better job of getting this into better runs still some passes down the field that I got to connect on and so as a quarterback there's always going to be things that you got to work on and so that's kind of my focus after after that one a lot of times fact most times high percentage of times you have to fill some to to move forward and that's

13:34that's kind of the way sports our life is and yeah so I expect to see you know the fact that I think we did see that with Hank I think you did some really good things missed a couple throws but then you know really hit yeah first big play that we hit there really kind of opened the game up and we needed at that point and it gave us a chance to you know climb back in and tie the thing up we we really haven't had a conversation about how we're going to handle it yet but I think just broad based I'd say this we will have that conversation but both guys you know our pracks and well you know and we again I think I can speak for her being the staff I think we all have confidence that both of them are good players right now and wait you know much improve from a year ago we'll just put it that way and I think that's how we feel and then we'll see how now it all shakes out and ultimately whatever we decide is is always subject to change once you get into a game and I guess I reserve the right to you know pull that card if necessary and just like yeah let's let's see how this goes or let's let's make a move here interesting little insight there from KF about

14:37preserving the right to pull the card or keeping the card out there so to speak you've seen some of these highlights from Saturday obviously the Tony DS toss is a really incredible play that's we'll get into some trivia there on that one a 56 yarder maybe I was best pass play in five years I'll put it that way but you're seeing some of his throws the the reason I say this might be Hank's best game in college is a lot of situational spots when we talked about this a bit on Saturday five for seven to end the first half after they get down 10 nothing hits the big one to to Tony but he and this one here was in the fourth quarter it's in DJ's hands but that's a third and 15 that he puts it right on the money to DJ right where it needs to be was a little bit of a hitch there maybe if he fired and initially would have got it but he goes five for seven to end the first half for those five passes go for first downs and then he hits five for his last five in the fourth quarter setting up those two field goals and ultimately the win so I thought situationally he played really really well and had one to Evan James here there only goes for three Evan just barely steps out really could have set him up even better but it was just super impressed with

15:41and it was brought up on on Tuesday as well 13 13 in the fourth quarter and Hank Brown's got a chance to get him into field goal range that's exactly the situation that there was in the end of last year that's we've talked about it for almost the calendar year now when he gets in that spot everyone's hung up on the third and five the screen pass that didn't go to Kamari and he missed one to Kamari to the left it was eerily similar it was fine though and then he ended up going five for his last five when the chips were down he made throw didn't you know they weren't crazy deep throws you know but it kept things moving along he had a little scramble that he got out to Kamari for six yards or so like that but just kept things moving didn't put the ball in harm's way for the most part late in the game I came away really impressed I don't know if I'm again situation where we think it'll be the game will allow them to get Jeremy and regardless maybe Jimmy gets in as well what do we feel about the quarterback spot and what that's going to look like we'll get none to some trivia here in a little bit about the throw game but what are our

17:45ice line yeah I think it's the way I'd phrase it is it's hangs cubies Hank is cubie one and it's his job to lose and I think when you look back in a Kirk fairness like the history of how the quarterback goes is I think you know on Saturday the four drives didn't start well and if you're not going to make a switch there I think you're going to have to see a couple turnovers to do that but Kirk said that he you know has the right and obviously that's like an obvious ease the clutch coach he can pull the car he can pull his cubie whenever he wants but I think that's what we're going to have to see as far as this week I don't think we're going to learn much about it so I think it's hangs going to start every game until he proves otherwise that he's not the stoder I agree with that and I think I still not at a spot where Jeremy's out completely I could totally see a world where you know Michigan Ohio State maybe all the way down to Minnesota doesn't go the way he's planned because I mean even just here yes Hank played a great game and this is

18:50just me not trying to be a hater but let's be honest and critique some stuff if you're having a great game like that why can't you execute that that score shouldn't have been so close in the sense that there was only one touchdown yes you're getting into field goal range but I feel like it yes in situationally it's a big rivalry game but if you're going to be quarterback one on a big 10 team and the big 10 is in the place where it is now that the SEC big 10 it's not like a big discrepancy anymore you have to be able to get the ball into the end zone he's not doing that yet maybe Jeremy steps in and he does a much better job doing so again can't I got to see it to believe it but there is a world where that is the scenario Hank can only go so far yeah still a couple deep balls missed who is one of Tony and maybe a couple there one of them the ISU DB just makes a yeah fantastic play on there was one batted down to the line seven made a great jump they

19:51would kind of use Tony as a decoy and brought DJ and I think this is the first quarter and seven who's a heck of a linebacker for cyclones jumps in and knocks it away those early ones they're always more impressed with how he how he finished even if they're not taking a bunch of shots downfield they took one to Tony worry it's a little short and Tony tries to come back and kind of sits down but yeah we'll see how things unfold here yeah I think to your point I think like it got the job done and I think Hank played a really good game on Saturday there are a couple things obviously and like every player he's got to work on there were some open routes that he missed that I think the criticism is and I'm not a quarterback who so I can't tell myself that he's not getting off the first or second read that you see like some one of the top tier quarterbacks make one of the passes that was batted down by Kaden Crawford would have been a pick six if it wasn't batted down or likely you know the linebacker gets to drop it so there's things he needs to play down drive right that one where he's thrown to the left I don't think it was I think it was in the

20:51second half okay maybe I'm wrong the one that's batted down by Kaden was an out route I think DJ was it the linebacker makes a jump I'm thinking of one from the first quarter or third quarter when they're down towards south and zone but I think when you're I feel like Iowa quarterbacks in the past six years you have to do it on a sliding scale almost and like I'm not too discouraged now he needs to grow because if he plays if Iowa has that game last week and so how state I don't think it's close Ohio State's going to win by a couple scores or more than a couple scores but how can that progress you know is he going to get off his first read and find came or what receiver I I think he threw either an out or a slant a Tony and another receiver kind of broke off his route and it you know maybe the cornerback saw him throw the ball already and he like let the receiver go but there were a couple of those I don't want to be too critical just because I thought like you said he led the TD drive at the end of the game so overall you know if you're grading it what is

21:52it like a beat I'd give him a BB minus maybe maybe deserves a higher grade but there's in he even said it there's things he needs to work on to get those scoring drives not just scoring drives but touchdown drives up higher I found it interesting too that he's the first thing he said was there are run checks I need to do better because I if you listen to one podcast listen to on the hawks you listen to get a and f in there because those guys are fantastic the Frederick brothers they talked about just some of the runs there there was one that was deep back and I was pin back in the north end zone and they run Camarri left and it just never has any chance to do anything because even just like schematically yeah Reese isn't where he needs to be to block the outside and so to Furt Hank to even be like hey like some of these runs are on me too I think again it's just about what he's seeing in the softens and building that confidence and just learning all those little details it'll be interesting to see how he continues develop in that not just in the throw game but figuring out those those run checks because in in this shanahan offense what Lester wants to do

22:55being able to check to the right thing and seeing the right thing and no one went to check it's as big as anything but I want to talk about that Diaz throw yeah which he checked to that was the another option on that to play um it is the longest pass play for Iowa since uh Brennan Sullivan to Jacob Gill at UCLA in 2014 or 2014 2024 that was a 59-yard pass this one was 56 it is the longest home pass play for Iowa since when uh Nate Stanley and me or Smith Mara said against Rutgers that's a great great call but now that was 2019 but no is it further back no it's for it's a forward oh that's a good one um is it the touchdown to Penn State uh three versus four to raggy uni same year though okay it's getting through all the touchdowns in my head that year uh that's 21 so probably not pretty because we lost that game um that's a tough one did we play Iowa's data

23:58no that was on the road oof is it one of the noncon games no okay was it Tyrone Tracy was he still on the team there that was on the road oh yeah against Wisconsin for sure that was a long one does 19 I believe right oh yeah and that was that was you're right I don't know uh no now Alex Pidia to Charlie Jones against Minnesota in 2021 was a 72-yard pass just in Wally who I believe had the pick to seal the 23 win at home against Iowa uh very similar route to what Diaz ran on this one and the anf guys point this out uh it's a double move for Tony fakes out and then comes in the Iowa State D.B. to his credit doesn't bite a lick on that fake just keep front and back he's like this dude's going deep uh Justin Wally who I think was still a freshman all-american by some publication bites so hard on Charlie faking the out and then Charlie runs and

24:59so like he's got a five-yard gap on him but that's I think the longest receiver pass play at home for Iowa um in a long time uh by a wide receiver I should say because obviously Caleb had the the screen pass against Nebraska but that is the longest wide receiver reception for Iowa at home in almost five years and I think it's as impressive of a pass play because of Hank checking to it the play action Tony's route the ball I mean that's an NFL frigging throw like he drops in and he had a couple throws that were super impressive kind of those outs as well the Tony that he hit a couple times uh you know Hank Hank's got the arm talent we talked about that since he he came on campus that he's he's got an arm and and maybe that's he even told me that the coaches said you know before that 56-yarder like we just need one to hit we just need one I think he's one of eight on deep all so far this year you'd love that to be even two of eight to just get one more but uh it was an impressive throw and as as good of a pass play as I was had because of what it opens up and

26:03can set up as they've had certainly in in Lester's time but even going back into Bryan's time as OC. Let me ask you guys this question too Tony Diaz almost has 40% of the target shares this year all right so far two games small sample size but he's clearly and this is we uh like a big part of the offense which I think every Hawkeye fan should be happy about but when you start thinking about conference play all right we're just going to take him away like are you confident that Hank can can find Evan James or you know Dayton Howard who I haven't seen much of I know he's probably played but I haven't seen much of at all I know if he has a catch Reese Vander Z and the tight ends who relatively like DJ's got six times but he's banged up now yeah it's like 10 targets which I thought you know 22 games but I thought he'd have more and this is kind of to my point earlier which again trying to preface this isn't me saying Hank should not be the starting quarterback that's not at all what's saying what I'm saying is I don't feel 100% confident that he can hit those targets whereas yes he has the arm talent I always like to think back to earlier before the season started

27:07I asked Addison Ostrangue kind of the differences between the two and he said Hank's got the arm it's incredible Jeremy does it seems like he has more of the IQ where he can read a defense and he knows where to place the ball in comparison I think that's to my point earlier where Hank might be or not Hank Jeremy might be that more valuable mind heading into the conference season that's good perspective and it seems to me that we probably won't get a C Jeremy out there that much except maybe this weekend so yeah it's it's his last chance to show possibly his last chance to show what he can bring you and I's quarterback meanwhile is an immensely talented kid from right here in Iowa southeast Polk grad Jackson daily lining up Mike crunched the numbers he's played more games at the Unidome started more games started more games the Unidome as a high school quarterback than he has so far as UNICE quarterback four games at the dome for southeast Polk started three for

28:09you and I him Abu Samad Xavier Wampa Kaden Proctor there a wagon southeast Polk was and I believe one four street titles partially when when he was there as well but Stad Stepsas as we set up the top the show year two in Cedar Falls after the Mark Farley era three in nine in 2025 one in one so far of course led Drake to back-to-back playoff appearances when he was head coach of the Bulldog is there in 23 and 24 but daily you've seen the numbers there 36 of 51 529 yards three passing touchdowns all against Drake last week rushed for three touchdowns in their opener on the road at Eastern Washington just has the one pick but because everything has to be connected in some way shaper form Jackson daily you see they're played at Arkansas State for a while was the starter in 2022 got banged up which led the way for Jalen Rainer to take over as the Red Bull starting quarterback so everything just has circle coming full circle Jackson daily is he's built I think he's six two six three

29:10something nice dash um great mustache best mustache in college football by far and he's 230 pounds I mean he's Grinowski he's built like Grinowski and he's he's gonna be a tough one for an Iowa defense that just dealt with the physicality of Aiden Flora and that cyclone rushing attack this is a dude who showed against East for Washington he can run a little bit he can move a little bit I think he made the sports center top 10 with a little Duke on one of those touchdown runs this is a again we talk about Iowa saying every opponent they got to take seriously and this is one that you know they hung 50 plus on on Drake the other day this is an offense they can move the ball and scores in points and I will say it's funny you bring up Rainer again because when I went to their you know media day they reminded me a lot of each other in the sense that like daily he's just very cool calm and collected but he has the presence uh well obviously has the presence of a quarterback one

30:12like chest up he's confident what he has to do but he also doesn't really have the personality where he's like I'm gonna prove it to him he's just like yeah I'm gonna go out and do it it's fine so I think yeah and I just for myself kind of wrote down his comparisons to Hank Brown I mean throwing Hank is 33 for 50 I mean very similar there but total yards Hank 320 compared to that 529 and that's with a loss on UNI so I mean I think it's very safe to say and not that anybody is but don't underestimate him heading into this one yeah 100% and you know that that being said UNI should not be a problem this weekend I should handle or just show respect to Panthers you have of course and they got a tough game next next week yeah Illinois State is uh yeah they're at UNI don't so so that one um you know I'm not gonna say they're looking ahead but how you know how

32:15against you and I but Boston Everett two games into his American football career has been super super impressive uh already has against the cyclones was it six ponds average and 44 more than 44 yards upon had one of 51 put three or four of those inside the 20 just a super impressive kid who uh Kirk has talked about maybe is like blissfully unaware of of the intricacies of the game so far just kind of rolls out and doesn't have to deal with anything else but uh as we we'll uh transition out of looking at you and I and give you a look at our our first Hawkeye highlight here of the day again we got another one come up here in a little bit type of Hawkeye highlight but Boston Everett he is uh our feature here that we're going to listen to a few minutes of his time first time during the regular season with uh with the media on Tuesday it's been awesome yeah so Niu was obviously a good game we played well um I came into that you know not knowing what it was going to be like and I thought that was absolutely amazing yeah I thought the crowds was it was a light trigger was so loud and then to come out against Iowa State it was just that times 10 so it was

33:20awesome experience and how loud the crowd was and everyone getting around at the fans and how close the game come you know came down to a field got so it was awesome to get a little bit shell shock just kind of with the atmosphere at first a little bit like I sort of not even say shell shock but I just I just loved it was so cool seeing everyone come out and how many people supported it was awesome Kirk kind of taught about oh you're still kind of naive to American football so learning and you said that's kind of in advanced you kind of feel the same way yeah I think it is an advantage in a way like I don't overthink anything because of it I guess I just kind of go out there and just kick it high and far and sort of what my coach tells me so yeah I think I think it's an advantage and a disadvantage but it's played my like it's played for me well at least because I've just been able to go out there and just just kick it not not overthinking where sort of everything's going and how it's going or what time of the game it is just go out there and do my job how many times have you had to have some experience what a role is during during days of game couldn't tell you not much I think your biggest adjustment living in the States doesn't have to be football like that

34:25at the start probably the weather you know I'm from the Gold Coast in Australia so Al winters would get down to probably 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit that was that was called for me so yeah so like I got here in January and it's in the negatives Fahrenheit and that was a big adjustment like the snow never living in snow and then I also think just living away from family you know you're on campus by yourself and even back home in Australia like the whole dorm system and living in apartments and like away from home isn't a big thing at university a lot of people will live in the city where they go to university so I think it was just that sort of independence but I've been able to adapt well and yeah I was a major a better a better player and just a more player I think yeah after field and on the field it's forced me to become more independent and handle my own stuff more which I think at the end of the day that's what you have to do so at the end of the day you have to take your career into your own hands like the coaches here are really big on it as well as they can they they'll provide us all the resources we need but we actually have to want to get better and drive that ourselves otherwise we're just going to plateau

35:27how often do you get to talk to your family then do you get to talk to them every day and what's yet I want to talk to them different so they're I can't even tell you to be honest I think that eight hours behind the day in front so I've been like 16 hours in front I did something like something like that but no it's good so I normally talk to them they're going to sleep as I wake up so I normally catch mom at the end there and then about mid afternoons when they're waking up so I normally get the night with them but mom's here now so she's been up here since the first game and she'll be here for a few more weeks so it's good to see her and dad came out of the first two games as well just checked uh 15 hours ahead they are in the gold coast they're in Australia so we're recording right now it is 3 11 on on Wednesday it is 6 11 the morning Thursday back in Boston so but what a fun guy to talk to again talked about the the weather and just what an adjustment that was there are winters apparently are like 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit so it's like goals yeah a 60 to 70 degree difference when he shows up for Iowa in the winter but what a great guy and just

36:33another fun story what a welcome surprise to the special teams units have been right yeah you didn't know what you're going to get going in with a pump battle going into the season you're like oh what's it going to be a rough year yeah and a kicking battle and they both have been kind of bright spots and special teams help to win the ravory game yeah first one on your end again a huge credit to Boston you know four punts inside the 20 pinned to back a couple times and uh you know in a 16 13 game you know defense and special teams how many times is the Iowa and that no matter what the offense is doing to be able to play field position ball is huge and so again maybe you won't see a ton of Boston on Saturday you will see as we were talking a ton of guys with Iowa ties right you know you and I in price former Iowa wide receiver is transferred to you and I he was a MVC newcomer last year from our neck of the woods here in Cedar Rapids in Chenzone G and Forte it was a three-year starter at Kennedy at quarterback he's uh the backup there now went to Drake initially

Yeah I think so so you know usually these scores can get lopsided but you also see in number 2009 we were still in college Mitch when they needed to field go blocked field goals to to win and then Iowa even started the season nine and no they were pretty darn good that year and they still gave Iowa a challenge so you never know what you're gonna get yeah it's uh I don't know if you knew about that game yet in the Iowa lore that 2009

41:48we get into that told you out the top of the show we had a special correspondent this is a kid that if you follow eastern Iowa sports maybe you're familiar with Parker libel this is a kid who graduated from center pointer banna he is an incredible story going back to I think Zach Hanley our old sports director to the story with him and he was in like middle school I did a story with him after his senior night for basketball at CPU he is in year four Iowa part of the UI REACH program which is a wonderful wonderful program encourage you to look it up if you don't know anything about it he joined us on Tuesday getting to do a little behind the scenes stuff seeing how the how we do our coverage and handed him the mic when we were wrapping up with jade Montgomery asking if he had any questions Parker did and did a heck of a job let's go to our one-on-one with jade Montgomery courtesy of Parker libel so tell me uh how does it feel about being down my 10 coming back and be and be I would say Zach owns by three six and a 13 how did that make you feel it was

42:50definitely a special feeling anytime you could be at Iowa State that's always it's always a good win and you feel good about it I think it just showed a lot about you know the type of guys that we have on our team that we're we're willing to go into deep water and and fight all the way to the end it's kind of better motto is going the hardest the longest so I think we showed a little bit of that Saturday definitely have some room to grow but feeling good about about that win and looking forward to this week and one other thing uh how how how how will you guys prepare for this week's game against no knowing that Iowa you and I I would say just not treating it different than any other game we try to treat all of our games the same try to prepare the same way you know whether it's week one or week 12 we treat every single game the same so just continuing to prepare knowing that there are dangerous team I think there's been maybe six FCS up uh upsets this year um on you know power 14 there's something like that I can't remember the exact stat but you know those that's those are teams that are dangerous um and they're coming in here with a chip on their

43:50shoulders so we got to be ready to go and check this out this is from the tailgate on Saturday Parker was awarded seven thousand dollars with a scholarship money through the ruby's rainbow program grinding uh scholarships to students with Down syndrome pursuing higher education again he's in year four of the reach program he's just the best and I it was so much fun to get him see is a pro he's an absolute pro you hand it on the mic and he did fantastic he's gonna be crunching some stats for us he's gonna be sending me those after games and uh the hope is we can do this again sometime in October with him so uh thank you so much to Parker just awesome to get to share that yesterday thanks to everybody who was sharing that and uh celebrate him and asking hey like you know who's the guy with you and all that and um was able to get to share his story and he's just uh we sent a video me and him did to ZAC 2 and uh again ZAC family going back 10 plus years we've known known Parker so it was just making making my day making everybody's day and again look up the UI REACH program and that's such an everything you know it's it's phenomenal and uh I'll extend that

He was a failure game in Atlanta that's right he was yeah he he was excited about Byron Brown transferring in from South Florida uh looked a lot better last week than he did uh in that opener against Baylor but the Gators on the road a two and a half point favorite against Auburn that's a 6 p.m. kick on ESPN what do we think about what could happen in an SEC tilt there in mid-September. I this one's really hard for me because my my initial thought was I feel like Auburn could have it I mean home advantages huge I don't but my heart is telling me Florida
