2:02just more about what he had to say overall. But in the first part of the show, we are going to talk about the center competition. Now the center competition is over. The Mar Jackson weighed in on the winner of the center competition in Javon Gwen. I would say it gave a stamp approval on the situation. Let's just dive right in. The Mar Jackson was asked about Javon Gwen at the podium on Tuesday. He had a lot of really good things to say about Javon Gwen. He talked a lot about, well, actually talked about a couple different things with Javon Gwen. The Mar Jackson on Javon Gwen said, quote, he has been Javon is like he has been flying. He has been doing what he is supposed to do. He is the joint practice in Minnesota. That is when that chemistry started building for us too. He has been doing pretty good and I have 100% confidence in him. Jesse minutes spoke about it the other day. But I feel like he has been doing a great job at being the general for the offensive line. That's really big because again, Javon Gwen, I think taking I guess leadership or leadership

3:08role in that regard of at the center position, you got to do a lot of different things. Obviously, you got to ID protections. You got to call things out here or do all that. The center position has a lot of responsibilities. So Javon Gwen in practice, again, I guess taking command of that is what I am trying to say here. That is a really big deal. It is of note to me as well because for a guy like Ethan Posa, who has been there and done that, has been a part of many different offensive lines over the course of his career. He knows the NFL inside and out. He knows what it is like to be a starting center in the NFL. He is a vet. He has been there. Javon Gwen, it is new. This will be his first start. I think that for me, I guess there is inherently a little bit of risk there. But at the same time, again, you just kind of got to wonder where Ethan Posa is in his recovery. Look, I am really glad that Lamar, again, the stamp approval here, I am sure he would

4:11have had nice things to say about Ethan Posa as well. Had he won the job, but that first preseason game and Lamar singling out the Minnesota joint practices, which was really cool because again, we saw a couple clips from those joint practices of Javon Gwen imposing his will out there. Really that first stretch, that Philly game in week one of the preseason into the Minnesota joint practices was probably maybe what secured the job for him overall. I mean, it seems like, again, Danny Pinter had a pretty good shot at winning it as well, because he had been running with the ones for most of the summer, but I would probably see him fortunately suffered that injury, which did open the door for Javon Gwen. And actually, Rhoquan Smith, I mean, it wasn't just Lamar that talked about Javon Gwen. Rhoquan Smith talked about him too, and Rhoquan said, quote, the story is obviously remarkable. He's got it from the mud as they like to say. He was undrafted to come from Atlanta and come in here. The guy just puts his head down, or put his head down, and works every single day.

5:15I've never seen the guy complain. He just comes in and always trying to just get better. And he's definitely a really fast offensive diamond. Obviously he's under size as well, but he's fast able to get out in space and make things happen. He also excels just from a communications standpoint. So I have a great deal respect for him. I'm excited for him and his opportunity at the end of the day, opportunities equal more opportunities. So it's all just about what you do with your opportunity. And that's another thing where Jesse Menterin said, hey, this is a week to week type of thing, right? It's a week one decision. So we're not just handing him the job and saying, hey, Javon, you're the starting center for all 17 games here. Have fun. It's not you got you earned it. Now you got to continue to earn it. And that is so refreshing. I can't even tell you how refreshing that is because the Ravens didn't do that last season. They just did not do that last season. It just felt like guys were either handed jobs. It didn't deserve or guys won starting spots. And you know, it's never got relinquished regardless of whether the play was good enough to hold

6:18it or not. I mean, I think this keeps guys alert. It keeps guys on their toes and, you know, away this like, hey, got to continue. Like there is a standard and you have to uphold that standard for full 17 games. And if you don't do that, you're going to obviously lose the job. Like that's what it should be like, right? So I think that's really cool as well. Like you're starting offensive by him and you're, I guess you're starting offensive line. It's Ronnie Stanley, John Simpson, obviously not Javon Gwen, slotted in there in the middle. Thank you, Oanae and Roger Rosenvard. And you know what? I'm okay with that lineup. You know, now it's funny because if you told me that Javon Gwen was going to be this team starting center at the beginning of the off season after they had signed them out of it. Like you're crazy. This guy is just signed for death. Led for the guy, of course, the way led for likes some there's potential there. I mean, look, I thought that the signing wasn't intriguing one. I didn't expect it to go like this though. But look, again, shout out to him for earning it. He earned it. And it's really cool that he did.

7:19And actually, let me look up real quick. We'll do some live research. We'll look at the size of Tyler Lindervom in Javon Gwen. So Lindervom is 6 2 3 0 4. Javon Gwen is also 6 2 and he looks like he's listed at 3 10. So the Ravens going with another center that's on the smaller side. Gwen is a little bit, I guess, bigger than Lindervom is with the weight, I guess, 6 pounds heavier, but the same height. So, you know, like, I know a lot of people were kind of looking at because Ethan Posek is actually how? Ethan Posek is big, isn't he? Ethan Posek, he is 60. Ethan Posek is 66 320. So like, he's a, he's a bassiner. I remember talking about that as well, where when he was side on my again, the Ravens have been running this undersized look at center here. Ethan Posek is this big guy, 66 320.

8:21But again, it's just where that recovery is. And man, it wouldn't shock me if Ethan Posek started games with Ravens this season. It wouldn't. But, you know, it's scary for offensive linemen because you need that burst coming off of the line. I mean, Dwayne Ledford has been talking about speed off the ball forever. And that's kind of like his mantra, what it was, Adam Randall, I had to talk about this earlier, Adam Randall had a hat. I think it was from the way he led for it or, you know, it was about speed off the ball mantra from Dwayne Ledford. And when you're an offensive lineman and that Achilles happens, you know, if it could slap some of your explosive, it's off the line. And you know, Frig of Oranguain, him being a fast offensive lineman, like Girl, Cosmine, talked about that burst getting to the second level. And you know, some of the stuff that we did see in the pretty season and in the joint practices, or at least that we heard in the joint practices as well, it all to me lines up for, you know, traits that both are more valued. And you can, you can understand why you can understand why they, they wanted to go this

9:23route, which of Oranguain. But the thing that encourages me is that again, this was a, this was a competition. It was a pure competition, which is exactly what the ravers need to do. It was not, well, this guy is the favorite. That's, you know, give this guy a preference treatment. No, it was a genuine competition. And I mean, I can't express enough how happy I am that that was the case and the ravers just didn't hand over the job. But I look, LeMorjax and seems to be, you know, giving that stamp approval, Rokwan Smith, the same thing. So that's pretty exciting. And, you know, I'm excited. I mean, it's crazy. Wednesday right now, just a couple days away from the start of the season for the ravers. I mean, the season starts today with the Patriots and the Seahawks. So football is back. 13:40of asked about you know winning the Super Bowl a lot and that kind of situation that goes on there because again like conversations I'm sure happened in locker rooms and what not we talked about it over the course of you know Lamar's tenure here in Baltimore and Lamar was asked about you know the Ravens are going to sit on one of the best teams in the NFL and a lot of people are predicting you guys are going to the Super Bowl this is the question here from James and Ensela. Do you think do you sorry do you guys talk about that all amongst yourselves or at all amongst yourselves excuse me and Lamar Jackson said quote no we talk about how to get there that's all it has been each and every year we've never gotten there it's about getting there and like I said it starts week one it starts in practice but it starts in week one we cannot worry about February until we are actually there and that it's I love this I mean I love this answer Lamar Jackson so I can't I mean it's my job to put things in the wars and I can't put in the words how much I love this answer from Lamar Jackson because you can't get to a head

14:41of yourself right especially if you have never been there right you have to carve out that path and it is genuinely a week to week day to day hour to hour thing you need to like preparation has to be so intentional to win the games to get to the postseason to win those postseason games to get to the Super Bowl to win the Super Bowl right and I think that Lamar has put an emphasis on the practice aspect of things and the week to week aspect of things I'm not saying he's never done it before like he has but you can tell that he's very very intentional that during his answers here at least during his press conferences and you know that to me is is great because you know he just talked about fire it up he is for for week one he can't he said he couldn't describe the desire and this is to start playing games at this point and he said he can't wait to play he said they feel he feels like the team will be ready Sunday at one no doubt about that which is which is really awesome but again it's just like everything that Lamar Jackson talked about I feel like

15:44is so intentional and you know this is I think part of this is part of him growing as a leader in my opinion right where you know his messages in the media I think send a message to his teammates and you know like Lamar obviously has these conversations with his teammates I'm sure outside of media availability is not just like talking through the media and is like okay listen to my press conference who I hear who I got to say about that through the press no I mean of course he's he's active engaged whatever maybe with his teammates but you know I do think that it like these types of answers and this type of mindset certainly does send a message I at least I think to you know everybody not just the teammates everybody in the organization about just like all right it's it's our time we got to win now like all this different stuff it does send a really clear message about like look we can't get too far ahead of ourselves here and you can't because you know if you start looking ahead to the Super Bowl and you're not even there yet I mean you don't focus on the little things in the deep I mean like this it's just been details details details for Declan

16:47Doyle right like to me that's a really big deal because you know with all of that being said you know you can't wait to February without you know making sure that you have all the details down you know that's a week to week thing that that's really like an hour and hour practice to practice thing instead of how much Declan Doyle emphasizes those details and you know he also mentioned the fact that it feels great feels healthy and healthy is ready to get after it and you know talked about the you know situation with Jesse Minter and High Went Through Training Camp what impressed him about Jesse Minter he said that they're really surprised them with with Jesse Minter he said quote the meetings early before he got hired but to be the head coach his personality and everything it just showed throughout the interview and he's pretty much been the same way nothing has changed with him but nothing really surprised me this training camp nothing at all but how fast it went by and how fast season has come that would be the only thing that surprised me it felt like forever to me I don't know it feels I mean that's that's always how it goes right it kind of feels like the season

17:50starts or I guess like it it approaches super quickly it also feels like it took forever to get to this point but I mean regardless it is it is absolutely worth it here and you know again use the breath of fresh airline again and the opening remarks talked about the the offense and what what he believes it has in store on Sunday and he said he believes that they have a lot in store new season feels like a new breath of fresh air feel like my guys are ready to go out there get out there and just start flying so again speed speed speed just go fly hit all this different stuff I think the details you need to be really important here though and you know the mindset of Lamar is really key because you got to focus on the practice then you got to focus on the game then you can then you can focus on all the other stuff that falls in the place there practice for week one week one practice for week two week two it's all really cool from Lamar Jackson come with the final part of the show we're diving in to this general news and notes from the Baltimore Ravens

20:56thing up at the podium for the for the Ravens talking about how you know first of all like he made sure he made like a note that he has a lot of respect for obviously like genre for example and he talked about I was excited for the challenge of you know stopping Jonathan Taylor and it'll be a good test for the Ravens and he talked about how of course you know another thing that really stood out to him is you know the offense for him can beat you in so many different ways you know running or you know you even throw in the ball deep so he said that for the Ravens offense it's like in his opinion you got to pick your poison with Lamar Derek Henry you know that speaks for itself then when you have the tight ends as a flower as he said quote I'm just very excited for those guys to showcase all their abilities in the offense I think it's going to give all those guys an opportunity to truly just unleash all their playmaking ability bait included so I'm very excited to watch those guys put up a lot of points and oh they definitely will and yeah I mean it's

22:02true like especially with how detailed oriented the offense is and everything that they're kind of picking out here to be like all right hey we got to do this or got to do that it's going to be a really big deal because like I just with all the attention and detail that this team talks about like again you just everybody talks about it you go be lying talk about it as well and in one of his answers about you know the offense and decimblorillon whatnot like just detail orientedness I don't I look my heart take is I don't think there's any more detail oriented demonly the Ravens are and that gives the Ravens a huge huge advantage when it comes down to it like it's genuinely like what when you are that detail oriented and you are getting everything down look it's very difficult right like it's very grueling and like especially with what we've heard about you know like Lamar talked about how that from loyal wants everybody on the offense know everybody's assignment on any given play not just their own assignment like it's it's all very like hard work to be able to do that but if you get it down and if you know

23:06you're gonna have a huge advantage over teams like a massive advantage over teams because you know that hey I need to do this but I know that you know Zay for example needs to do this and if he does that I'm gonna have this opening like it's just that deeper understanding and it goes for defense as well like you know Jessie Minner also is very detail oriented and kind of what he does as well and you know he talked about just a lot of different stuff like even just getting off to a fast start getting off on the right foot talked about how the culture and efficient offense and all this stuff and so he thinks that it's more about seeing what they can do and what we do forcing their hand and getting the guys behind the sticks and you know be about ball in the first game and you said that there are so many wrinkles and all that stuff so they're gonna be wrinkles and stuff and tendencies that they're not gonna carry over so it's more about flying through fundamentals which Jessie Minner did talk about where it's like you know the early games especially week one is

24:08more just like you know it's more just like who's more talented essentially because obviously there's not film on the Ravens because well the Ravens aren't a completely new system and for the Colts yes you know Shane's like in the system what not it's still there but at the same time you know sure they've added new stuff and like Rook want to talk about wrinkles as well so it's like it's the game'smanship of everything where like when there's that game'smanship of okay you know we don't know what you're doing and you know we need to figure it out it does just kind of come down to honestly the big thing is gonna be which team can adjust better who's gonna be able to adjust to you know uh an offense that maybe they didn't like for example if the Ravens don't expect to start a thing from the Colts and the Colts come out you know and heavier personnel than they thought or you know they're running this play they have no idea about it's can you adjust to that person oh can you adjust to what's going on if you can do that in week one again when they're like the Ravens will have an advantage over the Colts in this regard because at least

25:10there is like film and Jesse Miner did play the Colts and I think it was week seven last year and I think it was 38 to 24 let me see Colts chargers yeah 38 24 in uh in week seven I believe that was October last year October 19th 2025 so like there there's experience there I think that Jesse Miner can take all that to the table but the Ravens it's completely new it's completely new so I think that's a huge advantage for Baltimore and so I will say this too like every year you have to treat it as a different season and that obviously feels like a pretty obvious statement right but what I mean by that is you need to take advantage of good rosters and good teams while you have those good rosters and good teams like I think that's why for me and probably a lot of other people too like that 2019 seasons things so much more so than any of them 2023 right I mean that's 2023 season I thought that was the one and of course like there are 31 of the teams buying with you to

26:16want to Super Bowl you know it's not easy but like you need to be able to go out there and like take advantage of when you have an opportunity and I genuinely think the Ravens have an opportunity this season to wear like with the facts that I don't think there's a frontrunner in the AFC like the Ravens have made the Super Bowl in the Marjacks and Aaron you need to take advantage of that this season because we don't know what it's going to look like next year right maybe the whoever I don't know who the random team makes a trade for Miles Garrett type player and you know someone comes out of retirement like Aaron Donald Diff the Rams like you know those moves like that through where the Rams are kind of like yeah they're a good tending team to okay these guys are the all for one favorite so to me like you got to take advantage of that and Baltimore's roster right now I think is capable of doing that with the starting power they have and the star power the depth they have the backups like everything I think is there for them for the taking but again like as I've said

27:20I'm not putting like the pressure expectation on Jesse Minner and company here in your number one so when a Super Bowl certainly is the standard and like that high expectation is not going to go away for the Ravens but you know it's not like the Ravens season would be a colossal failure if they made like the AFC championship game and didn't make the Super Bowl because that would be a very big step in the right direction for what it was last season but the reality of the situation also is that every year you do not want to Super Bowl in the Marjacks and Aaron is especially right now is a year of the Marjacks is prime that you are wasting so you need to be able to take advantage of in my opinion I don't want to say it's a weaker AFC because I mean I think there are a lot of strong teams in the AFC but there are these teams that are just like bunched up together and you know it's kind of like all right who's going to take advantage of this opportunity who's going to go out there and you know is that the bills who are also looking to get to the Super Bowl for the first time in

28:21the Josh Allen era you know could the Patriots get back what about the Broncos like you know the Chiefs going to be the Chiefs again you the Hall is coming off that major injury like there are question marks probably about every team and then there there are those question marks but at the same time I do genuinely believe that for the Ravens like you have the Marjacks and you have a chance you have their canary you have a chance you have Kyle Hamilton you have a chance like those three guys are even if you just want to narrow it down to the Marjacks and Kyle Hamilton you have like ultimate leaders and like superstar players at those two positions and we know how bad it looks when those guys are not in the line up for the Baltimore Ravens so I think if those guys to stay healthy a lot's going to fall into place for those especially with the new coaching staff and everything but again like the excitement level for me is still through the roof and you know it's football seasons almost here it's almost here I mean it technically is here I mean we're a week one we're a week one prep like I absolutely love it that's what I have here today on
