What you're listening to presumably doesn't suck. So neither should your sound system. Sonos lets you listen seamlessly from room to room. Same great sound, expertly tuned, astonishingly clear. It's not magic, but it's not not magic. What's going on everyone? Joe the camera and John Richie it is and 94WIP great to be with you all for rolling on this. Tuesday morning well, a couple days removed. From the Eagles of course picking up that first W of the season of the big news yesterday landed Dickerson injured reserve. But the birds 1-0 and going to try to clean up that interior O-line. Phil started a new serious night with the nationals. Obviously coming down the stretch. Jaws, Elliott Shure Parks or as Jaylen called him shorts, Elliott Shurets and then he just stopped. And Nick Ciriani. He did feel bad about that. That's what we were at all. He felt bad. And Ciriani all in the show today. Ciriani at 840 and not only today but most Tuesdays, Tuesdays, Tuesdays, Tuesdays, Tuesdays, Tuesdays at 840.
So we look forward to a big show. You can join us 2-1-5-5-9-2. 94-94 Richie Rich. Good morning. Hello, Joe. Hello there, Johnny. Venus is the only planet to spend clockwise. What about Ciriani? Well, that's not a planet. Well, that was a courtesy laugh. No, I thought. Look at 550 acres. Not a planet. We're not even really fully awake yet. I thought, you know, bringing the carlin, the conglomerate. That makes Ciriani would be great to be. George Garlin, huh? Yeah, okay. I agree with you, Joe. Yeah. It's not light, not happy to be called a planet. Yeah. Ciriani. Yeah, no, I get it. All right, so good morning, boys and girls. We got a lot to get to. You know, we had an interesting poll result yesterday where 42% told us they were reflecting more on the negative than the positive or positives after the game the other day, which really surprised me. Now before we embark on all that, I want to make sure I bring you up to speed on what's going on with Landon Dickerson because a lot developed last night and it developed while
he was on the air on WIP. So Dickerson to the IR, he was part of the chickies and peets, players lounge last night. He announced that he had been, quote, rolled up on a few weeks ago in training camp, referencing that this is not a lingering debilitating injury from last year as so many of us worried while watching him play the other day. And then Landon Dickerson to get further insight into this situation, the nature of this injury compared to last year said this. Is this injury that you, when you got rolled up on a few weeks ago, is this related to last season? No, this isn't, this isn't really the last season, I think. Yeah, I'd like to say I went out on a mission in the off season to get my own team of doctors and trainers, medical professionals, rehab people to fix myself, get myself right. And in reality, up until that point in camp, I was feeling pretty great. And you know, other than that, I can't make any complaints and knock on wood that other
than, you know, what I'm dealing with in my knee right now, everything else feels good. All right, so that's an outstanding development. I mean, John, compared to where we were, you and me, James Rhea, 24 hours ago, you know, we were fearing the guy might not ever be able to answer the bell again. Now it sounds like relatively new injury, step aside for however many weeks it takes, reemerge when the time comes and hopefully be ready to rock and roll. I thought that was a great, great development yesterday, John. Well, it's not great that we won't have him for a month. That's true. This does not. I have had what he's talking about. Yep. When you talk, he says getting rolled up on when we heard about what the injury was, when he said bone bruise, that's essentially when you get hit in the front of your knee and your knee bends backwards and the head of your tibia and the head of your femur clang together.
Okay. So it is a hyper extension of your knee. That doesn't feel good. The fact that it goes back far enough that those bones can hit together, that's, you know, initially you're like really cow, just blew my knee out and then it's, wow, it feels okay. Okay. I can work with this. You know, I can absolutely see what land in Dickerson was thinking. Okay, I can probably play through this. You know, I'll get, I said and it'll probably, you know, be sore for me. For a while, I can see how this is the kind of thing that would sneak up on you. If you don't quite take care of it the way you should, that swelling doesn't go away. You got a small joint space, not a lot of space for swelling in the knee. A lot of times when I would, when this would happen to me, they would have to drain it. Kind of like stick a needle in there and whatever they call that. By the way, serionic dodges, the knee. Serionic dodges a bolt on this one because if they, if they have lost a serious, no, it's
great. But if they had lost, we would all been saying, hey, Nick, why the hell did you play him? So thankfully, I was wondering that myself. No, no, I agree. I guess we'd be saying it louder is what I'm trying to say. I was wondering that myself. And I honestly, I think this is a lack of communication between player and organization to some degree. You know, he's talking about how he went out and tried to put together a team of doctors to help him stay right this off season. You know, he, he doesn't want to be hurt. He doesn't want to be the guy who came in hurt. You know, that's what we talked about. For sure. Hey, he was drafted. He was a bargain in the draft because he came in with so many pre-existing injuries from college. Most of them in the knees, you know, he, I think he probably just wanted so badly to try to play through this and get out there for his teammates. And it ended up really back. But you know, when I thought about it, when I heard about it, I, I just remembered what you said yesterday, you said he didn't look like he could move out of the tunnel.
No, that was, that was absolutely the case. That's huge. John Richie talk show host. Well, you know what? Yeah. I mean, that's my question. Well, here's the thing. No, I hear you on the Siri on the part have picked up on it. Yeah, I mean, look, they're lucky. You know, Jay, Jay, after watching him for five seconds, they're lucky. They didn't lose a quarterback in a Jail and in case. That's my, no, I, I get it. I mean, they could have. No, I mean, he was, he was that bad. Oh, I can't. Hey, James, he was, you ready? Ready? Jamon? No, don't do it. No, he wasn't fixing his gloves. Well, play was that the guy that's the guy you remember. It was just so horrendous in a 2020 game, one game at guard and then, and then out. No, but in the middle of the play, I know. I think he was fixing his glove. Fixing his glove. All right. So look, reality is they dodge a bullet by winning. They dodge. We, it's not so much today because they knew. We dodge a bullet. I don't know that they knew. I don't know that they knew enough to say we got to sit. Yeah, because they would have.
Yeah, we, well, not sure. I mean, it feels to me like Landon wanted so badly to keep this under wraps and he was trying to play through it. And you know, practice is a completely different speed, especially with these guys where they're just walking through most of the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He probably skirted by in practice without people really knowing how badly he was banged up. No, it could be. So there's a lot of records and thing. There you go. Now we'll get you more audio because there was a lot last night again from the chickies and pizza players lounge with with landed Dickerson featured your chance to weigh in 215, 592, 94, 94. So let's now get to the broader topic. So the poll question we had yesterday was what stood out to you more from yesterday's Eagles game. And I was shocked in the nine o'clock hour because I felt really good yesterday. I mean, you guys heard me talk a lot about Jalen and Zach Bond and all this stuff. I felt really good about the game. I felt good about the win. Now, I know it was a two point game. And I know in past years against the team perceived to be a four, five, six, even seven win type
team, there'd be a lot of complaints. I did not feel that way. But 42% of people clearly did because 42% of people said they viewed it more through the negatives than the positive. That was our poll result yesterday. So I want to take that along with you today at 215, 592, 94, 94. History that doesn't suck is a legit, hard hitting American history podcast fold through entertaining stories. History that doesn't suck an Odyssey podcast available or wherever you get your podcasts. Now obviously, the biggest negative as we perceived it yesterday at this time was holy hell, landing Dickerson might not have a future. It's sort of the way we viewed Joel and bead entering last year when it was like, I don't know if you was going to be able to play time where games rest of his life. And I'm watching Dickerson on Sunday and I'm talking about it. Yes, and I'm saying, I don't know if landed Dickerson's ever going to be able to be good again. All right. So it feels like there's a bullet dodge there beneath the surface of that. Although John's right, not having him for at least a month is a bummer beneath the surface
of all that. Let's get into the team, the good and the bad because here's my ledger of positives. And I think far outweigh the negatives. Hertz, I thought was outstanding. The functionality of the offense, I thought was pretty good. It wasn't exceptional, but it wasn't the disaster that a lot of people said was very likely week one. I mean, I remember when the Eagles put in the West Coast offense in 95 with Randall, that was the game. If you're old enough to know they lost 20 to three to 10 per day, like they couldn't do anything. That wasn't this the other day. Obviously, Goddard and Wix showed some stuff. The Eagles, you know, one, they're one and oh, and it's a reminder to me. It's a reminder when I watch those three hours that, hey, Joe, hey, everyone, like the Eagles usually win. You sit down and watch a game at the link or at home on TV. They are football team wins the game. In short, that's, and by the way, a lot of, a lot of pressure on the quarterback.
They didn't bring him down, but like a lot of pressure. I felt good. Now I will tell you this, negatives, I get it. The Dickerson thing was a bomber and remains a bomber that he's out for a month. Jurgen's and Steen are, they are far from out of the woods with those guys. Lemon and Stowers as a combo obviously gave them very, very little. Stowers zero. He was getting a lot, a lot of flack right now. And the guy next to him, Landon was the issue. I think some of what you're looking at is him trying to do a little bit more to compensate for his team. I'm glad he heard you think that. No, I'm glad I didn't think overall. He played his bad as it sounds like everyone's saying he played. I'm glad you think that there were times where times when plays weren't perfect. Yeah, I mean, there's times where Steen's pulling and trying to kick out and gets no movement. Stuff like that. But it's not these guys aren't terrible. It wasn't their best game, but a lot of it had to do, I believe, with just trying to
compensate. I got it. I mean, look, a negative you can say as well, my team only got one sack, but sometimes you got a credit to opposing quarterback. I mean, the Eagles defense was in there all day. And Jaden Daniels did the type of things Jalen Hertz can do. They both have wheels. I mean, Jaden Daniels guys is pretty freaking good. He really is. So and then like, Cooper, she ain't stunk, but I'm not worried about that at all. So because I've seen the guy played two years and he's an excellent football player. I mean, look, I was surprised that he won the best of us. Yeah, he did. He had a really tough job. Stefan Diggs and Slot. Yeah. But man, it was as bad as I could have been. I know, but to find Diggs won 95% of the day. No, I got it. So look, let's talk to us to 215, 59294, I mean, James, so those 42% that say they've you to more through the negative. What do you say to them? What is wrong with you? Honestly, I mean, I feel like we all can't put ourselves back two years ago when we were
three and two and one to fire the coach at a buy. And it ended up being the best Eagles team any of us have ever seen that has ever existed. I just think that we still have that sense memory of growing up and watching football. Like the first month, mattering in the first month telling us what these teams look like. That's just not true anymore. Like what you see in the first month of the season does not correlate to what's going to happen in December and January. And I think that as football fans, we just we haven't had football for months. We're ready to react. And I think that people have a real, it's struggling to be patient and step back and say, relax. I thought the offense looked so much better than I expected in game. I did too. So like I'm blown away by it. Yeah, no, I grew at that. I mean, look, I and one more was doing the things that people said he couldn't. I agree. Growing in the middle of the field. I totally agree. Holding, I mean, not holding on to the ball and running, running, waiting, waiting, fading to the sideline. He was getting rid of that thing when and it was incomplete or it was a nice timing
thing, past to someone. You know, he was getting rid of that ball on his back foot as it was supposed to be released. And that's a great sign. I mean, that is the basis of this offense working. Yeah. I hear you outstanding. Look, I think in a nutshell, James, I don't think your thing hits it to the tee. I think in a nutshell, people just don't like the two point when it gets to team. They think stinks. Well, I think it's all part of it. I think it's all part of the same thing. But if they had won by if they have watched and gotten that last touchdown drove down and stuff, I still think people would feel pretty similarly about the game, whether it was an eight point winner or a two point win. Maybe. So look, you guys talked to us. I'm going to call you today, the positives, you 58% I want to hear from you, the negatives, you 42%. I want to hear from you. And obviously things have changed. There's been a development since we got the Dickerson news after the show yesterday. But I mean, 42% saying negative is still pretty, pretty big number and it shocked me.
